5K Runner: couch potato to 5K for Positive User Reviews

Best appI am a couch potato, I hate running and could barely run to the letterbox. I can now run for 10 solid mins straight and live each day to go for a run and it’s all because of this app.Version: 8.530

Very amateurI’m not a runner particularly of distance. I can cycle and do every week so have some fitness. This app has help me get out there and get moving. I have used this app then stopped for ages. When I want to get back in to running I know I can do it thanks to this app. I love the run walk method. My goal this summer is to run once a week..Version: 8.230

Awesome!Just started, but it’s amazing. 10/10 would recommend!.Version: 8.180

2nd time roundAbout to use this ap again. Fab for getting started but I think last time I really needed to repeat sessions after run times got beyond 15 mins. It seemed to want me to leap ahead which I wasn't really ready to do. However it got me entering a triathlon and round a 5k off road run for my 60th birthday (and an age group award) so did a good job. Life and 6 months travelling have got in the way so I'm back to beginning. Actually it started too easy and slow for me too, I always did extra until around the 2/3 way through point. Oh and timings are way out for me. Getting down to 40 mins for 5k would be a mega achievement, 30 would not be possible for me. Great as a little motivator and a tool to use but like all tools, use as best fits. My original intention had been to use it as an efforts session once I was confidently jogging 5k i.e. jog the walks and sprint the runs. That will be my aim again.Version: 7.3

Helped me to do the impossibleAlthough I’ve usually been quite an active person, I always thought that running was an impossible task for me. Just running for the bus would leave me gasping for breath. But now, after a few short weeks, I’m running for 20 minutes straight. I couldn’t have done it without this app! Dev note: It’s annoying that I have to keep my phone unlocked to receive notifications. I don’t know if I’m just being silly and there is a way to do that - I’d love to be told how!.Version: 8.180

Love this app!I took one look at week 8 and thought I will never be able to run 35 minutes none stop and this app totally proved me wrong! I have never been a fan of cardio and definitely struggled through some of the runs but have enjoyed following the training program and completing the milestones which kept me going to the end. Highly recommend for beginners like me and if I can do it anyone can!.Version: 8.180

Couch to 5K the easy wayI first downloaded this app a few years ago with the somewhat vague aim of ‘getting fit’. Initially the very Californian gung-ho voice over (being told “you’re awesome” every so often was a bit off putting for this reserved Brit) was annoying but before too long I found it encouraging and motivating. Whenever I’ve let my fitness go, I start again from Week 1 and work my way back up again. The programme is easy enough and takes your distance up in a manageable and realistic way. I’ve now downloaded the same company’s Couch to 10K and am looking forward to starting it. Recommend this app for anyone interested in starting or returning to running / jogging.Version: 8.180

Got me (mostly) to 5kPretty good app. I appreciate that it is hands-free and that I can listen to the coaching through my AirPods. Although, there isn’t really much coaching after the first couple of runs. After the first couple of runs, the “coach” basically just tells you when to run and walk. On the whole, I think that some more coaching would be beneficial. Especially regarding running form, mental toughness, etc. I think reminders to check running form would be greatly helpful to prevent injuries for new runners. The workout always starts and ends with a 5 minute warm up walk and cool down walk. Unfortunately, they include this distance at the end of your work out where it tells you how far you went. So, on my last run, it read that I had run 3.22 miles in 35 minutes. But that included warmup/cool down time. In reality, i went a TOTAL of 3.22 miles in 45 minutes, but ran 2.75 miles in 35 minutes. I worked an extra week on my own beyond the program to get up to actually running the full 3.1. I’m now at 3.1 in 37 minutes. All in all, it is definitely worth the price of 10 dollars and I did achieve my goal of running 5k. Now I can move my focus to improving speed 😊 hope this helps someone!.Version: 8.400

Absolutely PerfectI’m in love with this app. I am a couch potato by nature who used to hate running with a PASSION. While I’m not overweight, I am definitely ‘under-fit’ and my endurance is quite pathetic. I am taking a health class that requires the students to come up with and implement their own fitness plan. In the pursuit of creating a workable fitness plan, I begrudgingly downloaded this app, knowing I needed to run but strongly disliking the idea. I did the first run and was amazed to find that I didn’t feel like I was going to throw up or die after it was done. I continued to run with the app, and gradually began to hate it less and less. (I might even be enjoying it *gasp*) Each new combination of running and walking is challenging yet balanced, and I’m finally starting to see results from running, unlike every other attempt I’ve made. I paid the $9.99 for full access to the whole app and so far it has been extremely worth it. I love the simplicity and workability of the app. I can usually find my way around an app fairly easily but it’s lovely to not have to guess or scratch my head trying to find what I’m looking for. 11 of 10 stars!.Version: 8.010

Simple but effectiveI never write reviews, but this app has truly helped me change my life. I’ve wanted to get back into running for ages but kept falling into the same trap: over-exertion followed by soreness for days and sometimes injury, and I’d give up. This app forces you to progress slowly and safely, while simultaneously being hugely motivating. It calibrates to you - there have been a couple runs I’ve had to do twice as the first attempt was too much - but always keeps you moving in the right direction. It’s exceedingly simple…it just gives you a program for each run and notifies you over your music when to walk or run. But for me, that’s all I need and I now look forward to each of my next runs and seeing my stamina consistently improve..Version: 9.2240

Great App, love itI love using this app. I’m feeling motivated since I start using it and my fitness level has gone up. I just have one request to make to design this app for the Apple Watch too so I can leave my phone behind while running..Version: 8.150

Awesome!Awesome app, super easy to use! I never thought I could run but at the age of 333 I’m learning!.Version: 8.180

Love love love it!I don’t know what specifically attracted me to this app, I hated running and had zero motivation but this genuinely transformed my life in the most cliche way possible. I fell in love with it! I now run one day, then take the next day off and then repeat. My partner almost had a heart attack when he saw me going for a jog! I enjoy that I can see where I’ve jogged, for how long, and estimated calories burned. I wish for a weakling like myself there was more words of encouragement to keep going during a run lol. It’s a motivation booster. Other than that I can’t fault it. Super easy to use and understand, and it really did push me in the best way possible. As a student though, a student discounted price would be a bonus lol ;).Version: 8.230

Postpartum to 5kI’ve just completed this! I’ve tried other (free) versions before I was pregnant but never stuck with them. I started this when my baby was 6 weeks and have just completed and she’s 3.5months (taken me a little longer than the 8 weeks due to newborn ups and downs!). I’m not a natural runner, but this builds up in achievable steps, challenging enough to make you feel like you’re doing something, but not so hard that it’s un-enjoyable! Would highly recommend paying the money for this app, worth every penny. If I can do it, anyone can!.Version: 8.230

First TimeJust back from my first 'run' with the app and it was easy and fun! :).Version: 7.3

Deleting Doesn’t workBought the app but never really used it. Tried it out so there are old history data I want to delete. Delete button doesn’t work. Can’t change email address to start a new account. Had my boyfriend get it too so we could start together but I guess I can’t get a fresh start 👎😫. Will change to 5 stars if these minor features are fixed. Otherwise I’d continue recommend this for newbie runners. Update: support is no help. Gave me basic FAQ directions which don’t help. Have sent screenshots and emails that they don’t respond to. Delete data button does not work. Won’t reset my account or respond to emails. 😡🤬 Update: They fixed it!!! So excited to start using this again. 5 ⭐️.Version: 8.230

Awesome stuffPretty awesome stuff if you are just beginning to start to run,, highly recommend it..Version: 7.3

Exactly what I neededThis app is great - I listen to podcasts when I walk and wanted an app that would encourage me to start running but not get in the way of my listening. This app plays behind my podcast app and just lowers the volume enough to tell me when to walk/run. A few random words of encouragement which I like and really just the perfect level of motivation/support and leaving me to it :-).Version: 8.320

Surprised myselfI’m writing this as I just finished the last run. I downloaded this app because i was tired of my endurance and I had to get better at running. If I had to be honest, in the beginning for until week 3ish, I legit procrastinated so much. I couldn’t make it to 10 mins barely and I just put it off. Then one day I decided I had enough and began where I left off. If I missed a day in the week I would continue and make it up Sunday or Saturday or even Monday. I kept going straight week after week and since it’s winter, the sun sets early. I had to stop running but I continued. Finally I just realized that weeks of work and effort, that 35 mins, it wasn’t that hard. I believe that this app is amazing and it can do wonders. I surprised myself and I am most definitely going to download the next app. Thank you- Daisy.Version: 8.140

Good program but wish Apple Watch app went beyond the 8 weeksI’m 42 and I never thought I would run again. I just finished the 8 week program and finished my first 5km run in goodness knows how long. I’m really happy with my effort, and I have to give the app full credit. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because the Apple Watch app basically stops after the 8 week program, which is a little frustrating since I payed full price for it. The phone app has a 9+ week program to improve conditioning, but I don’t like running with my phone, nor should I have to..Version: 9.3610

Great!I love how it tells you what to do and has the plan worked out for you. All you have to do is commit and press start and then you don’t have to think about what to do next..Version: 9.3610

Love this appI love this app it makes learning to run easy and means my body doesn’t ache. Thank you.Version: 9.010

Exactly what I hoped it would beLove that this app takes the research & guesswork out of planning a running regimen for a newb like me. Really enjoying my runs, so far no joint pain thanks to the gradual approach, and feeling optimistic about getting to 5k!.Version: 9.3410

Does what it saysI’ve used this app a few times over the years and it’s always gotten me back to running 5K and beyond. Really great that it’s goes beyond the initial 8 weeks and provides the maintenance/improvement program after that. A nice feature for a future version would be the ability to manually add the distance run for those who have to use a treadmill. It would be nice to see the distances I’ve achieved accurately reflected in my stats..Version: 9.3610

If I can do it, YOU can do itThis app has carried me through several seasons of life & let me tell you, it’s a game changer. If you feel like you’re not a runner & the thought of running for more than a minute at a time scares the daylights out of you, this IS the app for you. I was always the slow kid in PE on those dreaded timed mile run days & continued to be that person into my thirties. One day I woke up & decided I needed to change my lifestyle. I was two babies into parenthood, weight wasn’t coming off, everything I ate stuck to me, I was tired, yada yada. I started this app in August & by October was running the full 5k. I could not believe it. I felt great. Holidays hit & I fell off the wagon. I did it again. Then I got pregnant & again, fell off the wagon. Once baby was 3 months, I did it again & maintained. One year later, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and fell off the wagon once again throughout half of my chemo regimen. But alas, I began the app again while having chemo. Then I took a short break for surgery, went back, & am about to start radiation. I’m still going strong & don’t plan to stop. If a run ragged mom of three young kids who is also in active treatment for cancer can do it, YOU can do it. Quit the excuses & just download the app and give it a try. You don’t fail unless you stop for good. YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS. Happy running!.Version: 9.3410

Excellent!I used the app years ago and this version is even better. Highly recommend for new runners..Version: 9.3610

Great program for beginner runners!I haven’t exercised regularly in years and I’ve never been a runner, but the Couch to 5K app has changed me. I’ve been running 3x a week for the last 3 weeks using the app and I’m running farther and faster already. This app will help increase your stamina and overall fitness if you follow the program. I really love the voice prompts that let you know when you’re halfway or give encouragement when you’re almost done. My favorite thing the app did was remind you at the beginning of the first couple runs to take it easy. That was such a helpful reminder to prevent injuring myself by pushing too hard. Overall I would recommend this app to any of my friends that are moderately active and want to start running..Version: 9.2240

Great for getting startedStarted on the couch during Covid. Was able to run 10km after about 8 months..Version: 9.3500

5 K appNeeds more talking and pointers on running correctly.Version: 9.3410

Simply great appSo I am not a runner at all! When I say that, I mean climbing one flight stairs... and I'm out of breath! This app is super easy to use, it's very well thought through, it builds your stamina slowly without overdoing it and making you feel like quitting. Little motivational phrases are very encouraging ( you need it when things are getting tougher). Overall I would highly recommend if you are not a sporty person but want to start working on your body at reasonable pace and enjoy the process..Version: 7.3

Well On My WaySuper helpful app. I hadn’t run in a few months and thought I’d ease back into it while learning good running habits and this app does exactly that. It doesn’t make you feel guilty for walking during your runs and allows you to adjust the difficulty if you feel it started too hard. It can get a little repetitive in regard to the voice that speaks to you & the app isn’t worth it if you don’t buy the lifetime subscription. The week taster is great but I needed more! The dings that tell you to run & walk are a little Pavlovian but I understand why. Only annoyance is that it doesn’t automatically pause your run if you have to stop running/walking like other apps.Version: 8.410

Love this app! It’s like a personal coach in your pocket. There are voice prompts and encouragement. It also tells you your distance and info about training. This is THE app to use while learning to run. Thank you developers..Version: 9.3210

Can’t recommend enough!Absolutely amazing app/program! If I can do it starting off being super unfit, so can anyone. I can’t put into words what it feels like to see your health and body improve so much over a short time. You just have to commit 😊 I have a very busy life with full time work and 3 children so if I can find the time, anyone can!.Version: 9.3210

This really works!I cannot rate this app highly enough. After a recommendation from a friend I decided to give it a go. I've tried to get into running before but always set off too fast, injured myself and had to rest for a week or so and ended up losing the motivation. This app works because it makes you pace yourself and then encourages you to go on with just a little bit more when you feel like giving up. I have literally gone from the couch 7 weeks ago to running a 5k Race for Life today in 26:05 and I haven't even finished the app course yet!.Version: 7.3

Wow from a non-runnerI started using this App 5 weeks ago. I was a complete couch potato & found the first run hard going -even running for 1 minute felt like an eternity! I got hooked almost immediately & today I completed my 16th run & ran 22 minutes with 2 3 minute intervals. I've amazed myself but this app motivates me because every new challenge is just about manageable & I can see my progress with the map & summary by the end. I'll settle for wherever my body tells me is enough, but my aim was to run 5k by my birthday in December & right now I feel as though I'm going to smash it! The only improvement I can suggest is guided warm up & cool down. As a novice, a few of the runs hurt my legs/back for a few days, so I researched warm up exercises & haven't looked back since warming up properly..Version: 7.3

You bring the confidence, this app does the rest!In the span of four months, I’ve gone from almost running through a 2 or 3 minute song to running a 5k two or three times a week! I’ve used plenty of running apps in the past, but this particular app spaces out your running so that, even if you don’t feel 100% ready to move to the next day, it’s just enough to push yourself without going too far. The increments that increase each day make it feel like you are progressing every time without going overboard. The one suggestion I would make would be that when I decide to run with my wife (who has also improved in her running) and use a previous day, it does eliminate the check marks used to mark your progression, as well as getting rid of any “customized runs” that had been generated. Overall, the perfect app to change your life..Version: 8.411

Didn’t think I would - but didI started on 6 January 2019 and ran every second day, by 9th April was running the full 35 minutes (some times I repeated a session a few times, towards the end it was moving up a session only every week). I didn’t think I would ever be able to run for that long, but the app pushes you just enough and increases the length of each run by just enough to make it doable. I highly recommend this app..Version: 8.050

Clear and easyHelping my motivatiob.Version: 7.3

MotivatedI have always hated running, but I realised it’s the best form of cardio. During lockdown my Gym has closed so I’m on a journey with a goal to run 5Km. The App is easy to use. I did a free first run & loved it. I created a running playlist in my Music & I’m keeping motivated. I’m into week 2 & already seeing results. I’m able to keep up with the running section & really like that I can see my results at the end. Well done 22 Fitness!.Version: 8.180

Surpassed my expectationsWhat a fantastic app! I have gone from celebrating 3 minute run intervals to completing a 35 minute run in 8 weeks. The progress and constant small wins is a huge motivator and I couldn’t have done this without a program such as this one. I would highly recommend this app to anyone hoping to increase their fitness and run distance..Version: 8.550

Awesome!Due to past knee injuries I’ve been out of the running game for 6+ months. Past the physio stage but was to paranoid about running again. The thoughts of being injured again scared me! The amazing thing about this app is that it goes at your pace and increases the pace when you’re ready. It teaches you how your stance should be and helps you slowly get back into it, again by going at your pace! After using this app, my love for running is starting to increase! Can’t wait to be a runner again!!!.Version: 8.230

Very well made.I went from no running experience whatsoever (in fact I used to have running/sprinting based exercise induced asthma) to being able to run 30-35mins! That’s more than I’d ever ran in my life due to fear of asthma attacks! I am very pleased with the app; and have moved onto C210k (on the way to training for a half marathon). However I may still use this program for speed improvement training (you do kind of outgrow it once you’ve done it once- but that’s a good thing- though there’s potential for re-use in speed training). It progresses at a good pace and whilst it looks intimidating at first it is paced well. Every week I’d happily tell friends my latest running record out of excitement at my progression..Version: 9.3420

Such a great app! Highly recommended!!!I love this app! Has an awesome interface, super easy to use, love the motivational comments and the progressions are perfect. I use it myself and recommend it to my sports med patients as an ideal return to running platform!.Version: 9.3110

100% recommend - you can get to 5kms no matter what your fitness level isLet me start by saying I have not run more than 10 metres in 8yrs. And before that would have been 1998. I set a goal for myself in August 2020 to be able to run 10kms by the end of the year. I thought I'd start with this 5km app first because I was not confident at all. I found it so difficult to start with. Even the first weeks of just running for a minute were so so hard and I really didn't believe I could get to 5kms. The program was so good at pushing me little by little and not making it so hard I felt like it was unrealistic. 6 weeks later I have days when 3kms in I want to quit (and have quit a few times) but I also have days when I can just keep going. Last week I ran 8kms and could not have been happier with myself. I've reset my goal to run 10kms before my 40th birthday next week. Love this app and would recommend to anyone starting from scratch like me..Version: 8.230

I ran 5K!This app is exactly what it promises - it took me from being an occasional walker to running 5K in just a couple of months. So glad I spent the money. Only leaving 4 stars because I wish that the app integrated music services other than Apple, but this limitation did not impede me much at all..Version: 9.3300

New to runningPut this app on my phone last October and got to week 6 and stopped after leaving it for a few weeks, started the program again this October and started off on week 3, just done the 5k this morning for the first time and feel a great sense of achievement after completing it, as someone who up until last year never really done any running or kept up a gym membership for longer than a month or 2, it can be done so give it a try and you will be very surprised how you gradually get to a level where u can run non stop for 35 mins, thank you 5k runner for getting me into running.Version: 7.5

True to form!My friend and I used this app to start running .... we couldn’t even run 100m with out stopping before we started. The flexibility of the app allowed us to repeat a few weeks along the way when didn’t feel we were ready for the next step. It took us a little longer but we made it to the end and beyond! Running 8-10km 2-3 times a week plus the local park run. This app really does work and the flexibility allows you to progress at your own pace - and you can still listen to your own music 🏃‍♀️Highly recommend!.Version: 8.010

Life changingI didn’t used to be able to run for longer than 1 minute without needing a break. I’ve never been overweight, but my running fitness was horrible. Now I’m halfway through the 5k program and I can comfortably run for 8 minutes straight without needing to stop and catch my breath at the end. I’m excited to start the workout every other day, and I’m already thinking about a 5km charity run at the end. Don’t hesitate!!! This app is worth its weight in gold..Version: 9.3110

Made me a runner!I have never run a single mile in my life that was not excruciating. I have recently made some serious strides towards becoming healthier including dropping from 240 lbs to an eventual goal weight of 160 (I’m currently 187). I started using this 5k app around 205 lbs and while I attribute most of my weight victories to my change in diet, this program has been incredible in keeping me active and pointed toward the goal of being healthier, not just weighing less. This is the first time I have EVER reviewed an app because I think THAT HIGHLY of this app. It is adding years to my life by setting attainable goals and helping me achieve them at a reasonable pace. I cannot believe that I am through 6 weeks of an 8 week training program!!! I have signed up for my very first 5k taking place just 5 days before my 36th birthday in just under 2 months. I never could’ve reached this goal as effectively and easily without this app!.Version: 8.100

Great, but additional functionality would make it perfect.I’m really enjoying using this app and it’s been instrumental in helping me get back into running. In winter I mostly run on the treadmill so the the way the app could become PERFECT is if you could add in your distance and calorie data at the end of treadmill runs. For example, I’ve been going back to previous weeks and running them faster to build up speed, but I can’t input this to see a visible progress. Thanks for a great app - excited to know if this addition is possible..Version: 7.5

I’ve never been a runner… until now!I know everyone says this but even when I was young and fit, I hated running. Now I’m in my 30’s and I really needed an accessible form of exercise without all the obstacles of going to the gym. I downloaded this app and started mid week 2 because of the assessment which was probably a bit ambitious. I only have the final week left and I can’t believe the difference. My stamina is already so much better. I’m not winded nearly as easily and I’m able to walk miles and miles without my feet hurting. It’s hard to believe that a few weeks ago the idea of running for 5 minutes straight would have been beyond me, but it’s true. Yesterday I did ran for 20 minutes straight. This app helps me understand that it’s not just about speed, but even just DOING it can set you up for success and help you understand yourself better. Love it!.Version: 9.3500

Great user friendly appJust started my goal towards 5k and downloaded two apps: I prefer this one as it as maps and very visual guiding.Version: 7.3

Never thought I’d see the day!I’ve done this programme on and off. I’d get to the 15 minute running sessions and struggle and then give up. Whilst working from home during lockdown I decided to do it but complete it this time, no matter what! I started up again on 1st June 20 and got my 5k badge today (after 12 weeks) What I did differently this time was repeat the sessions I struggled with until I was ok with it. The app itself I’ve never been able to fault, the cues are on point, there are messages of encouragement but not In any way OTT, it tell you when you’ve reached the half way point and when you’re almost done. I’d definitely recommend it. Go for it! Be a 5k runner!.Version: 8.180

Great app for out of shape old manI work from a home office and sit almost all day. I realized I am in horrible physical condition. I decided to try this app. The first day was 6 one minute runs sandwiched between walking. I could barely get through them. To my delight though, that was the hardest day so far. I am now in my 5th week. I am running 18 minutes of 30 and feel like there is nothing to it. My distance is already approaching a 5K. My only suggestion for this app would be to have a little more interaction on the audio. A voice telling me my pace, or “you just completed one mile”, or “you have been running for four minutes only four more minutes until you walk “ would be great. It does tell you when you have reached half way which is nice for knowing when to turn around..Version: 8.180

Excellent but accelerates a bit fastFirst couple of weeks are at the right pace but then you end up jumping ahead too fast in the last couple of weeks. Easy to fix, just do some of the mid level workouts for a few more weeks than the app recommends before moving higher..Version: 8.010

Awesome appI've finally mustered up enough motivation and determination to start working out again. I haven't ran in over 2+ years. I used to go to the gym regularly (2-4 x's a week depending on my work schedule) and lift/cardio. Needless to say, I'm very out of shape for not working out in such a long time. I've downloaded this app previously and really loved it. I decided to download it again and I'm really glad I did. I just completed 3 days in a row. This program really eases me into running again. I love that I can listen to music without switching back and forth and that it not only beeps but it also lets you know whether to run or walk. I don't ever buy apps but I honestly might buy the lifetime $10 just because this is my third time downloading it and I keep stopping after the free trial..Version: 7.3

It got me to start running, but needs some updatesI tried running on and off again for years. This time I decided to use the 5K app. Here’s a list of pros and cons I’ve found so far: Pros - starts off very gently and eases you into running for longer periods of time - voice coach is supportive and helpful in reminding you about posture and being mindful about how you run (how fast, how hard your feet hit the ground, etc) - aural reminders and encouragement go a long way - warm up and cool down time is totally necessary - adjusts your next run based on how you felt about the one you just finished Cons - voice coaching stops after a while and like other reviewers said it would be nice to have a gentle reminder to tell us to be mindful of how we’re running - the time increments increase too rapidly after week 5 or 6, we should be able to control how many more minutes we can run for (I.e. 20 to 25 minutes is far too much of a stretch when I had only been increasing my time for two or three minutes at any other time) this makes it difficult to stick with the program - it focuses on the amount of time you spend running rather than how far you’ve gone. You may have unwittingly ran 5k before you finish week 8 Overall it’s a great app that I’ll keep using, but it is somewhat disappointing to read that you don’t have full access to the 10k app even though you paid for the 5k. As a self professed non-runner before this app, it did a great job getting me into running..Version: 8.520

Incredible! After having my third baby in the summer I was feeling out of shape and overweight. I've hated running and exercise all my life but something drastic was needed to change my fitness (or lack of it). Having never being able to run I found even the first few weeks a struggle, but the elation I felt completing each challenge soon became a buzz. I completed week 8 today and I can honestly say this app has changed my life! I'm running 5k every other day, to my shock I'm really enjoying it and as a bonus I've lost over 20lbs. If this out of shape, non running, 30 something couch potato can complete the challenge then ANYONE can!!!.Version: 7.3

5K runnerAwesome program to take you to a 5K run in 8 weeks! You can restart at weeks 4, 5 etc later on, it’s perfect.Version: 9.3300

Finally can runI've previously HATED running with a passion. Not anymore. 1 last run to complete on this app. I'm already running 5k 👌🏼.Version: 7.3

Easy to followLove this app. So easy to use. Challenges you every time you use it but without it being unrealistic. Handy prompts to get you through so you don’t have to look at the screen. I use it on a treadmill so that I can keep the speed level I want but works just as well if you prefer running outside as tells you the half way point so you can turn around in time to go home..Version: 8.180

Genuinely life changing.I am a plus size woman who has always felt extremely uncomfortable and self conscious at the thought of running. With the guidance of this app, in 8 short weeks my relationship with running and fitness has completely changed for the better. I have recommended this app to so many friends and strongly recommend it to you..Version: 8.180

StretchWould b great to have a full body talk through stretch class at the end..Version: 7.5

Life changingI don’t think I’ve ever taken the time to review an app but this one certainly deserves it. I started Couch to 5k on a whim in July and struggled to get through the first one minute runs. In September I completed my first 5k race, in November my first 10k and just now in February I have completed my first half marathon! I never knew just how happy running would make me and what a profound impact it would have on my life. I always thought I just wasn’t a runner but it turns out that my approach to starting wasn’t right and I only knocked my own confidence when I found I couldn’t run for as long as I thought I should be, so I gave up. This programme eased me in and built my confidence week by week. Consistency is key and I have absolutely amazed myself with how far I have come by taking it one step at a time. Thank you!.Version: 8.150

Best appUplifting and easy app to get your running and stay running 👌🏼.Version: 9.3610

Well worth itGets me on track every time.Version: 9.3210

Couch to five at 55 yrs old! This is an excellent app! I’m a 55 year old woman, I love walking and yoga but have never enjoyed running or the gym. I loved training with this app and can’t believe how easy it is for me to run now! I tried another couch to five app but it kept freezing mid run! This is reliable and really user friendly. I highly recommend!.Version: 8.700

My reviewI really like this app… it has helped immensely in getting me back to running. The only thing I don’t like is the summary photo. It shows the entire kms with warm up and cool down, but then for the time displayed it excluded the warmup and cooldown time. This is deceiving because we aren’t running during the the warmup/cooldown so it gives an incorrect picture. Wish they would update that to just include the run time and the run distance excluding the warmup/cooldown.Version: 9.3610

Please make an Apple Watch version!Great app for total beginner to running, or returning to running after a long break. Found it extremely motivating, it eased me into running at the perfect rate. I have now moved on to the 5k pacer after enjoying this app so much. However, After recently purchasing an Apple Watch am most disappointed to find that this app is not compatible. Please make it happen! And the 5k pacer too!.Version: 8.230

Easy to use with good progressionsI’m a beginner runner and am finding the progressions in this app (relatively) easy to achieve. The app functions really well though the GPS function is obviously not suited to treadmill running. I only use the treadmill if the weather is bad so it’s not a huge problem. The only thing that irritates me (and this is super minor) is that, like most apps that track a behavior, the notifications to remind me to run keep coming even if I’ve already done my run for the day. It’s really not an important thing but it does annoy me. Other than that, this is a good app..Version: 9.2240

First timerGreat soundtracks. The first session is nice and easy for a true beginner like me. The feedback as you go is helpful..Version: 7.5

When it works it’s amazing.I really like the app, but it has glitched on me twice when I’ve been about to go for a run. No matter how many times I press the go button, it just doesn’t respond. I’ve uninstalled the app once and lost all my progress, I didn’t want to do that the second time so I left it for a day. It’s annoying because I’m just starting to really enjoy running. However I have purchased the app because I see great benefit in it. I just hope the glitch resolves it self..Version: 8.230

CAN MAKE A RUNNER OUT OF ANYONEThis is the first time I’ve ever written a review tour an app but I am so happy with it that I have to. I have always been active and lifted at the gym and gone got long walks but one day I decided I wanted to become a runner. I originally tried doing it myself... “ok, just run until this song is over” or “ok just run until you make it to that landmark” and I failed every time. This app literally changed everything for me. I enjoy seeing my progress and having it all logged for me. I’m getting so much better and I totally look forward to my running days now. The only thing I wish it did was tell me my pace. Other than that I have no complaints. Total game / life changer!.Version: 8.150

So simple and easy to useI really am enjoying this his APP- you are coached with succinct, cheery occasional words of encouragement whilst following the run and walk timing prompts to build stamina in safe, realistic, achievable bite size sessions you can fit into your day. When you are walking or running it goes quiet which allows me to just relax in my head and focus purely in the moment on my body. It gives brief tips at the end for self care but doesn’t waffle and keeps it light, breezy and fun. It’s a well put together recipe arm up and down too and rest days to ensure your muscles recover so you don’t injure yourself. I never feel daunted or procrastinate with this one- it’s designed to work with how you are feeling physically and you can adjust it to suit if you do want to edge the pace up or down. Good day to use display also, I shall enjoy keeping using it. It’s one lifetime very affordable price too so perfect for my budget. 😃.Version: 9.3610

Awesome App 10/10Absolutely awesome App. Gently gets you working out. The gradual increase in run time makes running achievable. I’ve found I’m really looking forward to each run knowing I’m running for longer and really making progress. The way the app is set up visually is great, you can see exactly what’s coming up next either a run or rest. Love how you can look back on your history and see how much progress you’ve made. Having the half way point on days when your a little less energetic is a great idea. Well done..Version: 8.180

Amazing app!So motivating and achievable for starting a running programme. I love it!.Version: 9.3010

Covid side effects to 10kThis app is incredible and was the backbone of my running journey in the last year. Last May i was struck with covid and was down terrible. After i recovered i could barely walk up my stairs without being winded. I decided to start running and used this app. I was at rock bottom with endurance. I used this app everyday for my runs for an entire year and eventually got to the 10k program. Ran a 10k last month. Highly recommend. Only complaint is i think they expect you to progress faster than reality. Do not be afraid to do runs again. I was stuck on week 4 for about 3 weeks. I did not start week 5 until i felt like i was ready to. Take your time and you will be running in no time..Version: 9.2240

My favorite running appI’ve been using this app for years and I absolutely love all the versions of it. The 3k one taught me how to run from zero experience and now I love running.Version: 8.550

Really does workI just completed week 8, day 3 and now I’m officially a 5k runner. This app got me from the couch to 5k in 8 weeks. Is it easy? No... you have to push yourself and stick to it. But it does work. I still remember me feeling like I was about to die when I got to the 5 min runs. I just did 3.2 miles in 35 mins (a 5k is like 3.1 miles). One hint of advice. Most of the time, your body can handle the work, your mind just have to get out of the way. There were times I wanted to stop but I stayed focus and completed it. My first 5k is two weeks away. I’m ready Update: I have completed this, ran a few 5ks and moved on to the 10K app and ran my first 10K last year. You put the time and it does work..Version: 8.150

SuccessI had long thought I would never be able to run more then about a mile without re-triggering old debilitating knee, back and Achilles issues. In fact it had probably been close to 10 years that I had run over 1 mile, but with too limited time to go to the gym, with an ever expanding waist, and with two young boys needing me to have more energy, I gave this a shot- and it works. This program really does gradually and almost as painlessly as possible get you from couch shape to running a 5k without much problem whatsoever. It really is shocking. You start out slowly with light intermittent runs mixed with walking periods and gradually build up to fewer walking periods and longer runs, until next thinks you know, your running a 5k straight. The entire training period spanned just under 2 months for me. Each session is about 1/2 hour to 50 minutes with a 5 minute warmup and warm-down period respectively. My only complaint was that I never could figure out when the program would give the distance of the workout, whether that included the running or the running and walking. As a result I was never exactly sure how much time I was actually taking for my runs versus my runs and my walks. However, can't beat how gradually and painlessly the program gets you from couch to 5k!.Version: 7.3

It just worksI love how achievable and safe this program is. It works well while listening to music..Version: 9.3410

Awesome for beginnersGreat app to get you started on 5K and beyond..Version: 9.3600

Overall pretty great! Watch out for what you pay for though!!This app is a great version of the Couch to 5k program. It got be back to running after a >10 year break, no injury and very few aches and pains in the process. The loss of one star has to do with their payment structure. I purchased the Lifetime Premium thinking it applied to their other running apps as well, why would I purchase a lifetime membership for a program I’ll probably only do this one time as I progress on to longer distances? I really thought it applied to their other apps. I think they should be much more explicit in their explanation and pricing structure. I contacted customer support and basically just got a curt response simply stating there is no cross app purchase for memberships. They did not reply to my second message. Given this, I do not intend to use any of their other apps. Be sure you know what you’re paying for when you buy the in app purchases….Version: 8.550

Great app i use every day - with 2 improvements neededI think this is a great early running app and it sets me up for my runs every day. It gives you the minimal info you need every run to keep going and improve. However I have two improvements I’d like to see: 1. Whenever you finish a run, even if you say run was ok, it always puts you in the next level of difficulty. I found myself having to grade my runs as “difficult” just so it so would let me stay on the run structure i was enjoying. Ideally it would not do this! It should ask if you want a tougher run. After several weeks I discovered that I could manually set my run back to what I wanted on the main screen but I didn’t realise this. 2. It would benefit from better integration with Apple Watch. I operate my run from my phone so that I can also listen to high quality music from my phone. I don’t pair my headset with my watch because the audio is low quality. There seems to be no way to see my run status on the watch. You can only operate the run entirely from the watch, but then I would have no run audio. Ideally you would be able operate the run entirely from the phone and get synchronised run status on the watch. Otherwise great app!.Version: 9.3600

Couldn't recommend moreI'm half way through this programme and I could not recommend it more highly. I was a COMPLETE couch potato - never did any exercise of any kind and got out of breath from as little as climbing the stairs. I had stop/ start goes at running myself but never stuck with it. This programme starts with incredibly achievable targets, which is a confidence boost and gives you manageable victories. And because every day is a new thing to aim for, it's very motivating. I struggled (really struggled!) to even run for a minute when I began this programme and now after a month I'm up to running six minutes and looking forward to every new session as a new challenge which I know I can achieve. If you want structure and regular targets, and a programme where you see an improvement really quickly then start this today - honestly, its life changing..Version: 7.3

Don’t buy lifetime...First I will say I loved this app. The pacing is great and I can run a full 5k after doing the program. Sure it’s something you could do yourself without the app but I loved that I could just hit go and concentrate on my running instead of timing myself because I knew the app was going to tell me what to do. Now I paid the lifetime instead it the 3 months. That’s where I get disappointed. Silly me had hopes that paying the lifetime I could use other apps by the same company to continue to improve my running. Well, jokes on me. I downloaded 10k Runner to see and guess what: I could have just downloaded that app in the first place and did the 5k program I paid for FOR FREE before the 10k app made me pay. All in all I don’t regret spending the money on the app because that helped motivate me to keep using it but I wish I would have paid for 3 months instead of lifetime because that gets me nowhere. I don’t use the app anymore because I use a Fitbit and their app to track my runs now because it gives me my pace mile by mile. Which is another disappointment with this app. You have to figure your own pace at the end of your run and that will include your 5 minute warm ups and cool downs. In short: good app? Yes. Just don’t spend more than you need too..Version: 7.5

Made me enjoy runningThis is a good app with a nice, clean interface that makes it motivating and easy to use. I am a 21 year old guy in decent shape, and damnit I should be able to run. But, about three months ago, I would have been hard pressed to run a mile. I ran/walked a 5k with my co-workers in November 2017 and I finished in ~35 minutes and felt like throwing up (the average time for my age group was around 24 minutes). My girlfriend started using this app in May. I picked it up and did the first day May 16th. I got hooked really quick and decided to shell out the $10 to buy it—that was my biggest iOS purchase to date. 7 weeks later on July 21, I finished! Now I can do the 5k in around 23 minutes, and today (July 29th) I ran my first 10k. In a little over 2 months I went from disliking running a mile to kinda enjoying my 10k run. I think the app convinced me to take my time slowly add on distance, instead of running too hard and feeling exhausted and discouraged. Mileage will vary from person to person (pun not intended but I stand by it)—I think I was probably in a rather unique place to take advantage of this app—but I still think it will be well worth the money for most people in most situations. I highly recommend!.Version: 7.5

The perfect running appAfter deciding to incorporate cardio into my weekly routine to help work towards my weight loss transformation, a friend recommended this app. At first I was sceptical but after reading some other reviews I thought I’d give it a go... and wow what a great decision that was. The app is structured perfectly to slowly progress your running while giving you the confidence needed to push yourself. 8 weeks later and I am running 5k 2/3 times a week. So far have lost over 5 Stone in under 6 months and this app has been an important part of that! If you have any doubts, just download it and give it a go. You won’t regret it..Version: 8.310

Amazing appI never normally review apps to be honest but I had to give this one a shout out. I have never been able to run for more than 1 minute without gasping for air and needing water (yes that bad). Since I have started the couch to 5K I’ve surprised myself on how well I am doing and it is starting to become a hobby. I have just reached the half way to 5k mark today and I feel so much better in myself. If you were like me and can’t even run up the stairs without feeling tired then honestly give it a go. You Will surprise yourself!.Version: 8.300

AwesomeFantastic I love the fact of the encouragement while you are running def 5 star app.Version: 7.3

This app saved my futureI started using this app when I was told that I am 35 KG’s heavier than my top limit BMI weight (at 115 KG’s). I started off in October 2019 (age 37), and coupled it with a diet. From being breathless within 1 minute of running, to being able to run full 5k within 30 minutes; this app has saved my future. My sugar levels are consistently low, no more a fatty liver and I look and feel much better. I had never run in my life and have now started to love it. I have my days or weeks when I can’t run and start gaining weight but this app is my eventual saviour. I now maintain my weight at 85 KG’s which is still over my upper BMI limit by 5 KG’s but that’s what I want. The best part of it all was that when I did eventually contract covid, my symptoms were mild and had no issues with breathing. I cannot imagine how I would have been at 115 KG. Would definitely recommend this app to anyone wanting to become healthier. You just need to do it for 2/3 weeks and watch your diet. When you start seeing results on the scale you won’t ever be lacking motivation to hit the treadmill. P.s: I’m down from XXL shirt size to M and 38 in waist to 32..Version: 8.400

AwesomeThank you That was great.Version: 9.3500

Great app.Amazing!.Version: 9.3500

GoodI’ve been using this app for a few months now and it’s been great. the coach voice used to be silent with each transition phase however now the coach speaks with each switch to walk/run which I really dislike when previously it was just a bell to signal when to stop/start running. I’ve redownloaded the app to try fix it but it remained the same. Please change it so I don’t have to hear the coach’s voice at all during my runs..Version: 8.230

MotivatingI couldn’t have started with out this app it is great 😃.Version: 9.3300

First run - seems perfect for my current situationGenuinely going from couch to whatever I can achieve and I found this first run perfect. I've been fit before so know what I'm capable of and know how it should feel but am coming back from illness. I'll review as the program progresses. I note someone else said they'd like to see some intervals as well. I would agree with that later in the program, but at this point I'll just wait and see..Version: 7.3

New to runningHelping me to get out and moving a bit more looking forward to achieving a full 5k - the motivational feedback along the way helps.Version: 9.3420

Persistence will pay offI have asthma and I’ve never been able to run, not even when I was a kid. When I started this app, running for one minute was a LONG time. I’ve been running once a week not the recommended 3 times, and most of the runs have taken a few attempts before I could do it & move up, so it has taken a long while - but today I ran for 30 minutes non stop. I can’t quite believe it. Keep at it, persistence will pay off in the end..Version: 8.010

Good but sync and history issues with iwatch appI appreciate the functionality of the app on the mobile device, but I have encountered some issues with the iwatch compatibility. The app does not sync properly when I run with both devices, and it does not recognize which device I started the run on. This affects the accuracy and consistency of the app's performance. Moreover, the iwatch does not save or display the routes history on the mobile device after uploading the results. This is unfortunate because I prefer to run with the iwatch and review the routes later on the mobile device. I kindly request the developers to address these problems and enable the routes history to be accessible on both devices. Thank you for your attention and support..Version: 9.3500

Awesome AppEasy to use. Clear instructions from the in app voice telling you when to run/walk. I’ve really enjoyed using this app I highly recommend it.Version: 8.330

I love this app!!!I cannot believe I just completed this program! I am not a runner… or am I?! I feel amazing and so proud. Running has been really hard for me since my early twenties (I’m 38). I stuck with this program and didn’t try to overdo it - it builds very slow and steady - and it worked!!! Highly recommend it..Version: 9.3600

I Did It!!I got this app because I had no idea where to start when it came to getting back in shape. I have tried and tried over the years and I always get discouraged and stop. When I got this app, I honestly expected much the same. I put off eve starting the journey for weeks. But now I’m four weeks in and I am honestly beaming with pride in myself, and I feel nothing but encouraged to keep at it. This app feeds you your runs in a way that feels so manageable and good. I finished day one and I was like “oh wow! I did it!” And every run after that, same thing. I did it! It’s a challenge, but never so hard that I feel discouraged or too out of shape to keep going. Even when the intervals go up, I feel a little nervous before I start but then! Hey! I did it! So seriously, if you feel like you want to get in shape and you have running goals, and you have no idea how to begin climbing that mountain, get this app. Yeah you have to pay for it but I promise it’s worth it. You can do it!!.Version: 9.3300

64 and runningLast year I used this app to run a mile, I got Covid, which took me back but here I am again, I will get that mile back then on to 5 k.Version: 9.3610

Love it !Actually love this app 😍 Using it makes me feel so motivated regarding working towards my fitness goals because I know it’s going to push me just enough to slowly build up my strength which will result in my being able to push myself even harder later on. Definitely one of the best apps I’ve come across. 👌.Version: 8.050

The best decision I madeAt the beginning of corona lock down I decided that sitting around in the house all wasn’t for me. So I thought I’d take up running (never ran a distance in my life) I’ve tried in the past but failed. I knew I’d need some help so I downloaded this app. BEST. DECISION. EVER. This app guided me in manageable distances/ pace and recovery times. I have struggled at many parts and had to re do some days maybe 5-7 times but you know, it’s okay. This app doesn’t judge you if you can’t keep up! You keep trying for yourself! I was struggling most to run 4 minutes. I was impossible for me! However I’m now running 5k in 30mins 2-3 times a week... WHOA. It’s all credit to this app and a little bit of stubborn determination on my side. If you want to run BUY this app. Ignore the other reviews moaning because you have to pay after the free trial.. Buy it! You won’t regret it..Version: 8.180

Halfway there and still going!Yesterday was week 4 day 3. When I started My pace was 2 mi in 30 min and the full 5k took 46. Yesterday the 2mi mark was 25 min and the 5k mark was 38. I’ve tried several of these couch to 5k apps before and have never made it past week 2. I either got lazy or the runs got too difficult too quickly and I became discouraged. Right now I’m pretty motivated to keep going! I was hesitant at first to pay because 9.99 is a bit steep. But it has been worth it and maybe since I paid I feel more obligated to follow through. The only downside to the app is that it doesn’t give cues while on in the background. I would also enjoy more words of encouragement during the run..Version: 7.5

5kJust started using. Easy to use. Looking forward to results..Version: 9.3420

Do it 💪🏼I am a bigger woman, size 16/18 clothes and I wanted to get fitter for my children. I started couch to 5k on 30th May 2020 and it’s been the best decision I’ve made. I’ve done it at my own pace, some weeks have taken me 2 or 3 weeks to complete but I’m now on ‘week 8’ and running 25 minutes, I’ve been running 25 minutes for a few weeks now and you know what, it really doesn’t matter. The next step is 30 minutes, I’m not ready for that yet so I’ll carry on With 25 til I feel I can push myself a bit more. I can not believe I have achieved this much, so please if you are like me and think you can’t do it, you really can. I feel horrific after but fantastic all at the same time!!! Go for it, if I can do it, you can too 💪🏼.Version: 8.230

Aside from the lack of warm up instructions it's perfectThis is a great app for starting running. I am not a runner and would go as far to say I hated running!! But, I'm trying to lose weight and thought this might help. Well it has! Im now thinking I want to run?! I'm early on in my journey (day two today) but it really motivates me! Telling me how well I'm doing in the journey and when I'm half way too. Would like to choose the accent as American can be annoying lol. I'll research my own warm up techniques are non are given and also cool downs. Already looking forward to Mondays run!.Version: 7.3

Bad runner, but love this appTo start, I am not a runner in the least. I have the physique of a runner, but zero lung or stamina capacity. This app has helped me with both as it is a run / walk internals app that starts at REALLY easy levels and allows a gradual increase. You can run up to three times a week or more if you want to hit your 5K goal faster. I love the way it signals you to start running or walking, let’s you know when you’re half way to turn around, and tells you when you’re in cool down stage. I also love the metrics it shows at the end with your route and calories burned. The app also allows you to rate each run so it can customize your next run based off of rating..Version: 8.540

Definitely worth a shot!I’m not a runner, I never have been! But a friend recommended this app when I said I wanted to try to get into running, but really struggle with motivation and knowing what to do. This app is great! You’ve got a voice through your speakers telling you when to run, when to stop, and motivating you when you feel like giving up. I’m currently on Week 6, and am running for 8 minutes at a time which is amazing to me, considering I tired very easily prior to starting and absolutely hated the idea of going for a run. Now I find myself looking forward to it! Would definitely recommend if you’re looking to give it a go..Version: 8.510

Love this App!This is my second time starting from day one. A few years ago this app helped me get to 5k every morning, I have never found anything that works like that!.Version: 9.3500

Very goodFrom someone who hated running all her life, I have found this app has really helped me to approach it in bite sized pieces. The trick in my view is not to follow the program precisely. I would go to a new level and repeat that run several times before I felt confident going to the next level. Currently on week 7 (of 8 week program) but it’s taken me 5 months to get here. Better slow than never. I am proud that I run every other day, slowly but regularly and am getting better all the time. Thanks to the developers!!.Version: 8.410

Needs Apple Watch FunctionI have used this app before and it does exactly what it says, it used to push to your watch years ago but now that we have all this amazing technical its just annoying that it doesnt have a watch function. Running with an iPhone is annoying but hey there are more important things in life than that. It definitely will get you running long distances without a break, so it is worth it. Just App Developers please consider a watch version especially those of us that have watches with Data and Sims..Version: 8.180

Love this programmeI’ve had this app for five years and use it every spring to re-energise (or to kick start) my post-Christmas / outdoor fitness regime. I’m not a runner (prefer gym, swim and classes) so find it hard to motivate myself to get out pounding the pavements. But, because of the gentle progression of the 5k Runner app, I find myself absolutely determined to get in my three runs every week and see myself going faster for longer with each session. The programme has been worked out perfectly and I love the feeling of satisfaction after each run. By the end of the eight weeks I am a 5k Runner (and usually a stone lighter) and ready for my next fitness challenge. And I use the final weeks’ work outs to track my runs for the rest of the summer. I’ve recommended this to all my friends who are wanting to get fit and learn to enjoy running !!.Version: 8.400

Super easy and user friendly!Despite this app being recommended by a runner friend, I have been blown away by how beginner-friendly it has been for my first, and second, dive into becoming a “runner.” The voice prompts/encouragement are friendly, not too frequent so they don’t interrupt your focus, and brief. I would classify myself as an intermittent/fair weather run/walker, and am currently using this app to train for my second 5k. I love how it customizes your overall track depending on how you rate the intensity of each run, and slowly builds the run/walk intervals. I honestly can say I anticipate using the program even after achieving my 5k goals (or consider the 10k version, although that’s a little much for me!)..Version: 9.3500

Love this app!If you were looking for a slow start with the eventual goal of running, this is the app for you. Not only does it, baby you a little bit in the beginning with more walking than jogging, but you can tell it at the end of your workout, if it was too hard. If it was too hard, the program will automatically optimize your next run. I have started this app several times and have enjoyed it every time. Only complaint, is that when I play it on my iPad and I’m watching Netflix on the treadmill, when the narrator comes on a tell me to start walking or jogging, her voice is incredibly loud. Otherwise five out of five stars!.Version: 9.3300

First dayFirst day back running in awhile, just the start I need!.Version: 7.3

Great basic app for training new runnersThis app really helped me feel comfortable moving from a non-runner to doing a 5k. Running has always been difficult for me both mentally and physically. I loved that it started out so simple—1.5 minute intervals of running and walking—and then worked up to running for much longer periods. I will say it seemed to jump quickly once you hit 15 minutes of running. After that, it increased your run time by about 5 minutes every time. The longest running period is 35 minutes, and without any other coaching during that time, it isn’t my favorite. I almost always lost motivation about 20 minutes in and started walking. So I switched to a new app that had coaching/encouragement for the full duration of a 5k. Overall though, the app is easy to use and the first 3/4 of the app are great! You can also play your music through the app, which is nice..Version: 8.050

Great appHave gone from not be able to run to running 5k without injury. Great app to build up strength and stamina. Now trying the 10K runner!.Version: 8.180

It’s been greatI’m at the five week mark at the moment but have just rolled my ankle. I won’t be running for a bit but I find that none of the running apps have an option for recording an injury or anyway to down grade or alter the plan to reflect new conditions. Otherwise features and functionality are good..Version: 8.150

Pretty great appI’ve been using this app for almost a year now and I’ve really enjoyed using it. I don’t recall paying anything for this app so for a free app its pretty amazing. The only complain I have is, if I put the app in the background then the audio stops which can be pretty annoying half way through a run. I’ve found a workaround where I always have this app in the foreground and then I’ll slide it into my running pouch and no issues at all. This is the only reason why I am giving 4 stars else pretty amazing app overall for beginners 😊.Version: 8.411

Ok but could be betterThis isn’t a bad app, just needs some tweaking for example: 1) Need to be able to use the gps of the Apple Watch when in doors running. Even though I can get a good signal when I run round my centres main hall, the app assumes I’ve run on a treadmill and doesn’t calculate Kilometres or calories. But my watch and phone is still able to calculate the distance no bother. 2) When your in the app, if you accidentally switch your app to something else or close the phone by accident, the app still runs in the background, you can be easily forget or lose track of the warm up time, as there is no voice to say when you are about to switch from warm up to run and this is really frustrating if you don’t notice it. Other than that, it’s ok just could have been better with these small improvements..Version: 8.180

Love this!I really like the fact that it can connect to my Apple Watch (4g cellular one) and my headphones paired to the watch I can run with my watch on and still be able to listen to the app instead of lugging my phone around! Being able to run so far as I am within a little amount of time is amazing! Never thought I could be able to run long distant! This app is really good!.Version: 8.300

Actually worksFrom this couch potato, running with 5k runner for the last 6 weeks has been a revelation..Version: 8.230

It really worksVery skeptical at first but now amazed. My wife and I are on our last week and we can't believe how easy it's been. From total couch potatoes to running 30mins nonstop. Best thing we've ever done..Version: 7.3

Great appI could never run in my life... ever-Until I found this app. It builds your stamina and before you know it, you're running! It's very manageable, sets realistic goals therefore easy to stick to 3 times a week regime. I have 2 issues though, first one is when you finish the training in 8 weeks (which I have) there is nowhere to go. You just keep repeating the runs. (What's the point of buying lifetime subscription?) 2nd issue is, I can now run 5k but unless I take the same route, I have no way of knowing when I hit the 5k. The app doesn't ping you. But overall I'm very pleased. If I keep running 3 times a week until xmas I'll even treat myself with some gear. Thank you 5k app..Version: 7.3

Awesome instructionsI highly recommend this app...Version: 9.3410

Actually making a difference!A friend recommended this app to me. I didn’t think it would help me, but it has! I’m doing it. Very proud and the app is helpful..Version: 8.180

V HelpfulI’ve been lazy as during lock down & didn’t really know where to start to get active. This app has been a real blessing, it’s got me up and doing something every morning. My partner has even joined in with me! The voice on the app tells you when to start and stop running, if it’s too hard you tell the app at the end of the run and it changes the run the next day to make sure it’s not too hard for you to keep on track with. Would deff recommend to absolutely any one and everyone.Version: 8.510

Flawless for Beginners or RestartersIf you follow these routines exactly how they are drawn up for you, they will work 11/10 times. Even you you use to run a good bit, but fell off over the past few years, just stick to this 8 week program at first.. One issue I see with my friends is that they live in the past. They think that since they use to run 8 miles at a time in their 20’s, they can still do that after a 10 year break in their late 30’s.. they end up burning themselves out and quitting. This app really makes it enjoyable to get back to those 4-5 mile runs a few times a week. The great thing about this app is how you rate every run. So, if you think the run was too easy, the app automatically ups the entire program. If the run was perfect, it will stick to the program it originally wrote for you. If the run was too hard, it will soften the program it wrote for you. You also get a “personal trainer” for encouragement.. She doesn’t say a whole lot, but it seems she times her words of encouragement perfectly. Definitely worth a try.Version: 8.410

If you are new to running don’t hesitateGreat app for people wanting to start running who are either unfit or not confident enough to train without guidance. I am mid thirties and although active, I haven’t regularly exercised for the last seven years because of having children. I wanted/needed to get fit again doing something that 1) wouldn’t cost a fortune (like a gym membership) and 2) I could fit in as and when with my lifestyle...running seemed perfect so I gave this app a go and I am so glad I did! It was great to slowly get me fitter without breaking me or making me want to give up. This is manageable for all ages and fitness levels - don’t be afraid to try it - you can do it! It really is well worth it if you need a bit of support and encouragement to keep going. I did skip a few weeks here and there just because my fitness was at a higher level so I was able to do that. I now love running and am starting the 10k app..Version: 7.5

Excellent app but could be improvedLove how this app paces out workouts and gives users a chance to review the difficulty of each session. It’s very easy to stick to. The only improvements I would suggest include: - Connectivity to heart rate monitors and associated apps - “Treadmill” awareness or function. The app currently relies on GPS data to track distance and calories. It’s not great and detecting that Treadmill runners are in the one spot and attempts to map the run turn into a scribble.Version: 8.500

Post-partum to 5KI have had 2 kids in three years and have felt exhausted beyond belief and missed being in the body I used to be so familiar with. I genuinely have not jogged or ran in almost 12 months and every time I have tried in the years prior, I’d flog myself then need to sleep for hours and feel sick. This app is exactly what I needed and I write this after I earned my first badge. I needed a coach to tell me how to exercise at a pace that was right for me - someone who has barely exercised in years. Worth every penny and more. Thank you for getting me back..Version: 8.230

Run on grass instead of asphaltAt first I tried it in my street, on asphalt. It was boring and not good for my knees. So, I left it for too long. Today I am back, but this time, I ran in a park making the bench as a go to at one end and my back pack at the other end. I ran towards the bench and walked back to my backpack. It was awesome ! I will do it again tomorrow. P.S: don’t leave your backpack behind like I did. I live in NEW ZEALAND, so I can do that ! 😃😃.Version: 8.050

Really Love It - but have a suggestionI love this app, and the program itself. I’ve never enjoyed running and was very skeptical about starting this program to begin with. But I stuck with it and earned my 5K badge, and then decided to keep going! I’m 8 months in now and don’t plan to stop. I love the varying workouts so that it’s not just the same thing over and over again. I like looking back at previous times for the same workout and seeing how I’ve improved. I love that I can listen to music with the app while I run. And I love that the trainer updates me throughout the workout to keep me motivated. I recently got an Apple Watch and was thrilled that my app would link to my watch - but then was disappointed to find out that it doesn’t work beyond the initial 5K training. I would love it if you could update the app to work with my watch for the additional weekly sessions so that I don’t have to continue carrying my phone with me each time I run. Please!?! 🤞🏻.Version: 9.3110

I’m a slugI cannot believe I’m actually running after a 15 Hiatus- at first my feet felt like elephant feet and then after 3 days I found my groove. The slow approach and coaching is awesome.Version: 8.230

55 and fully alive!Amazing app - aged 54 I started running in feb’18 having never been a runner! Now after a year of running 5k three times a week I’ve entered my first 10K run and am doing the couch to 10K app. My life is transformed by a tiny, cheap app, some good running shoes and lots of determination - I can’t rate this app enough. Do what it says on the tin and you’ll reap the most fantastic rewards. Plus there are no gym fees, you get to exercise outside with the elements in your face all year round. I experience that running lowers anxiety, releases depression and stress and helps gain self esteem. It’s also good for your bones to run. At 55 I’m possibly fitter than I’ve ever been - massive thanks to the inventors of this app. Don’t get me wrong it was hard work to start with and still is sometimes but it’s so worth it - you’re worth it! Might be the best few £s you ever spend 👍🙂 Please note I don’t smoke, I have a glass of wine about four times a year, I also don’t eat gluten or sugar and drink 2 litres of water a day - it all helps..Version: 8.050

Great App!I started this program at my heaviest of 218 and I knew it was going to be hard to stay on track. Once I started with the daily routines- I didn't want to stop. It has only 3 workouts a week but most weeks I would repeat the workout again and do it 6 times a week! I was one of those people who always said "I can't run" but now I don't anymore! I definitely am not an avid runner( I would say more a jogger) but this app has really opened my eyes to the world of running. And I'm down 28 lbs so I am overjoyed! I am now up to running 3.5 miles without stopping! I can't wait to start doing the 10K app because I am training for a 10K in January! If anything, try this app out- it's only 8 weeks and 24 workouts in all! I definitely have recommended it to everyone who asks how I lost so much weight! :):).Version: 7.3

Extremely goodThis app is great and really effective. The app (which is gorgeous) includes a program that combines walking and running and it increases the running on every workout. This worked great for me and it's how I got into running (40+ years young). The audio coach comes through the headphones and tells you when it's time to walk or run, so that you don't really have to do anything except listen and do what he says. I also love the motivational coaching that goes with it. The progress is just right, and really sets you up to making it to the end. I also enjoy their motivation thoughts on each workout and the great guidance through the app. All in all - a great great great app. Update - started running again after quitting for a year and the app still did its magic. Got me back into shape fairly easily. Actualdly it took me less than 4 weeks to do it instead of their advertized 8 weeks, but I think that this is because of muscle memory (and maybe a little bit of self belief which made me skip ahead whenever it felt right). it worked great the first time, and now but now my body was able to get back into it even easier. Happy this app is doing its magic again, and it’s time to continue to 10k!.Version: 7.5

Good appFirst of all anyone who gives it a bad review will probably remain on the couch pressing their tv control forever. That was me up until 4 weeks ago. Sitting on the couch but now I’m working my way through the runs. I have found that the jump from w3d3 to W4d1 was big. A minute added to every run but I managed it but feel this should be more gradual. Nonetheless love the app as it is getting me of my fat backside. Lost 11lbs already and surprising myself how far I beginning to run which believe is incredible as I have loathed running all my life. I’m 55 and still surviving. Yes it is hard work. My inspiration is more losing weight than being an athlete but who knows maybe one day I will run a 5k. Still a long way to go.Version: 8.056

What I needThe only consistent weight losers (IMO) are the distance runners. One of those people put me onto this app. I am overweight and I am used to people calling “run hard” so I lose momentum (and enthusiasm) to run again... because I can’t “run hard”. This app has corrected all that. It even knows when to give me ‘encouragement’ just when I feel like walking again. So I run again. Looking forward to aspiring to a constant run and all the benefits that come from that..Version: 8.320

Great app but 1 glitchNew to running so thought this was a great app except for one thing, the voice coach announces when it’s time to start warm up and when to warm down, but couldn’t get the voice to announce when to run / walk - I’d get a beep on my Apple Watch but I’d often miss it whilst listening to music and end up running when I should be walking. Did contact the app team but despite checking all my settings on my iPhone and watch, I couldn’t change it. The only way to hear the voice announcements was to leave the phone on unlock ( changed the settings to allow announcements on screen lock but didn’t work ) for this reason only I’ve cancelled my subscription but if you can get this to work, it’s a great app!.Version: 8.180

10/10 I highly recommendBefore this app, I would always give up on running because I wouldn’t make progress. I’m on the sixth week and this app is amazing. It’s very simple, nothing gucci but it is the only thing that has ever motivated me to run and to stay consistent on it. I see progress, and I’m excited to run every time. Running is not easy, but knowing that it is doable for me motivates me to give it my all. I wouldn’t last more than a minute running before this app but now I’m on 10 minutes straight without stopping. Don’t cheat yourself!! 🔥💪 (I also recommend Strava. I use both apps at the same time. Strava just to record my miles and keep a log.).Version: 8.180

Great App, but missing Apple Watch SupportThis is a great app, but he need to keep my phone screen on while running (when I lock the phone, the app stops giving voice prompts) and lack of an Apple Watch App are frustrating. Having said that, the app itself is great. I used to run pretty regularly, but had a long break due to an injury. I tried to to start running again several times, but re-injured myself each time. This app focuses on how long to run as opposed to how far and prompting me when to start and stop. That is working exceptionally well for me. Previously I would target running a certain distance but would constantly have to fight to urge to speed up when nearing the end of a distance (where all of my re-injuries occurred) and I would often break into a more aggressive run despite knowing better. The interface is clear, easy to read and easy to use. The running plan has been perfect for me so far (I’m about 3/4 of the way through) and I would recommend the app anyone trying to get in shape for a 5K run or just wanting to run better. I just wish it had an Apple Watch App so I wouldn’t have to lug my phone around with me on the runs or could at least put it in shoulder or chest phone-holder rather than having to carry it in my hand..Version: 8.180

I can run now!Great app! Was never a runner and just completed my first 5k! The build up is really good and a new challenge every time you go out. The only downside is the distance covered includes your walking distance for the warm up and down. Towards the end I would put strava on in the background when I actually started and stopped running a full distance to get an accurate reading. Also I found that it doesn’t tell you when to start and stop running if you lock your phone so you have to keep it unlocked while running. Would still highly recommend as these are both quite fixable problems for the great program this is!.Version: 8.180

Literal couch to 5kI haven’t finished yet but I’m on schedule and only one week away. I seriously thought my body just couldn’t run. I assumed some people had “runners” bodies and some just didn’t, like me. When I started the first day I could hardly run a minute… here I am running 15-20 minutes without stopping and it feels GREAT! I’ve fallen in love with running. It’s such a wonderful release, me time, and great energy to start off the day. I already signed up for my first 5k and have running shoes on my Xmas list this year. I stayed exactly with the program, being honest with myself when a run was too difficult. The program would optimize my schedule and have me repeat a difficult run until I got there. Don’t feel discouraged repeating runs, no one program could ever work for every person. But you will get there!.Version: 8.610

5kGood app.Version: 7.3

Life ChangerI’ve always wanted to be a runner. I have friends who would tell me to stick to running because eventually I’ll start feeling an *allegedly* addictive runner’s high. For years I dreaded running at the gym. I’d run for a minute then walk for like 5 minutes then run again until I hit 30 minutes of cardio and then get on with my workouts, exhausted from the pathetic “run.” Finally, quarantine hit and I had to find ways to maintain fitness at home. Thus, I was introduced to couch to 5k. When I say it’s changed my life... it really has. Something about only having to run 3x a week and having a voice in my head that kindly let’s me know it’s time to start running and gently let’s me know “hey you can slow down now, good job!” It’s so comforting. It’s better than staring at a treadmill timer counting down for relief. I pop in my headphones, play good music, wave at my neighbors, and suddenly I’m running 10 minutes straight? And when I slow down to walk I catch my breath almost immediately?? My cardiovascular health has improved and I think I’ll actually be able to run a 5k by October!! Who knows? Maybe I’ll train for a 10k next. I can’t thank this app enough! I’m addicted to a really good hobby now :).Version: 8.180

Nice and easyNice easy start. I'm still recovering after major surgery a few years in but never been able to manage too much exercise. The app is very helpful for the road to recovery..Version: 7.3

App works wellThis app helps encourage you to run at your own pace and increases the time required to run each week. It is very difficult for an absolutely beginner like myself but if you preserve and redo days before moving on you will get better. Because you run at your own pace you may not get to 5k or you may exceed the 5k. It’s up to you. My first runs I could jog slowly for 10 seconds. I felt like a failure. Keep going and I got to running for ten minutes no drama. So keep going..Version: 8.050

Great!Awesome app, motivating and worth the money if you’re working towards 5km.Version: 9.3500

Brilliant app, excellent support teamTried a couple of apps when I wanted to begin running, and this came highly recommended by my sister and I can see why. I love the run mapping feature, knowing the calories and the distance, being able to play music at the same time and having 'awards' along the way. I never thought i would be a runner, but this app not only encouraged me that I could, it got me to running a full 5k. When I've had any questions at all, the support staff have been beyond friendly and helpful even when after emailing and having received a super helpful reply, I found my question in he FAQs, I wasn't referred to that page, but genuinely helped. Having now moved to Kenya, the support team have been on hand to help me find ways to adjust my workouts to acclimatise to the heat, and I couldn't be more thankful!.Version: 7.3

AmaZingI downloaded this app 5 months ago with minimal expectations. 30years old- had bad knees as long as I can remember, and never enjoyed running. Can’t thank this application enough! I followed the plan strictly. It started very easy (just what I needed - although it still made me out of breath!)- and slowly but surely started building up my stamina. The achievements and motivational words gave me the boost and confidence I needed to complete every session- I couldn’t believe it. I know I would not have done it without this app. The day I completed my 5k on the app, I got an email from a charity asking for volunteers to run for them at the royal parks half marathon. I looked at this as a sign (and a challenge) and yesterday I did it! I started my own training plan after the 5k to build by endurance- but I have this app to thank for giving me the strength and belief in myself to start running. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE If I can do it - anyone can.Version: 8.010

Great to start running!Have found this app really helpful to get back into running again. Good programme that is attainable for everyone. Easy to use and navigate..Version: 8.030

Great app, really worksYou have a personal motivation program! Its simple and it works..Version: 9.3410

Download now, just do it. I’m so glad I didMy fitness has skyrocketed with the help of this app. I have never run in my life, and the concept seemed unachievable. But I promise it’s not, I have not experienced any of the feared shin splints or body aches because the program is perfectly tailored to your fitness level. Such a fantastic app, it’s changed my life..Version: 9.3600

Love it!!I haven’t made it all the way through do to personal reasons and life. But I love running with this app. Buzzer to run and walk. A “coach” voice letting you know “your awesome” “halfway there” “almost done” “great job”. Inspirational quotes to start your workout. You can listen to music. I listen to pandora and it still chimes in to keep you going. And a lock screen so you don’t accidentally skip an interval. I just love it. It’s totally worth paying for in my opinion and yes I’m a cheepo and never pay for apps but this is definitely worth it if you are looking to start out slow. And let me tell you I have never been a runner in my life and after 2 kids I’m ready to get back in shape. And this is definitely helping. Pick your own pace and don’t give up! 😘.Version: 7.5

🛋➡️➡️5K in 6/52I’m not a runner. But with lockdowns gyms and pools are always shut so I gave this app a go. After 6 weeks I’m running 5k nonstop. With a good podcast or audiobook the run is over pretty quick. The app is mercifully quiet during your run so you can enjoy your choice of entertainment. I’m yet to love running, but I definitely feel better after a workout, and this app got me there 🏃‍♂️.Version: 8.510

Easiest way to get to 5kI’ve used this app to get to 5k. Within a year I ran my first marathon. Great app that takes the thought out of getting up to 5k..Version: 9.3610

Love itI have tried a few other apps for running and this one has been the only app that allows you to evaluate the run and adjusts the next run accordingly.Version: 9.3610

App is great for beginners!Love this app. I’d never thought I’d be a runner but I need to be more active so thought I’d give it a try. I’m 24 never really ran in my life, this app is really great for easing you into it. The only thing I would love is for the app to keep tracking your route after the cool down. I often still have a 5-10 minute walk back home and it bugs me not seeing the full circle I’ve done!.Version: 9.3410

Great App for portly gentlemenFirst used this app and the 10km uplift to get in shape to run the 14km City2Surf race, from Sydney city to Bondi. The intervals of walk/ run helped build up strength and stamina in the legs. Plus the walking helps those of us with a more rotund, portly disposition to shed some Kgs/lbs along the way. After successfully completing the race, I celebrated by stopping running and quickly going to seed again. I’m back, with the 5Km version!!! Running on grass or on the beach to lessen impact on knees, joints. The interval format greatly helps to make the whole process less excruciating and more pleasurable. Thks..Version: 9.2230

Works for meI use this app on my cross trainer. It's simple and great visuals to see what's ahead. Really motivating for me.Version: 7.3

Only thing that will get me runningHave used this app once before after a knee surgery to regain fitness and it worked a treat. Am trying it again to get into shape and I love it. So easy, it’s the only thing that gets me running. All you have to do it follow the instructions, the program is set out for you and it tracks everything. Best running app out there, you can start small so it doesn’t seem too intimidating and build up slowly! Super excited to get back into it now.Version: 8.210

Perfect!This app helped go from out-of-breath after 1min to a solid 5k in two months.Version: 9.3410

Great app with one disappointmentHave loved the app so far, got me from nothing to 5km over about 8 weeks which for me is amazing. The issue though is in the Apple Watch support. It worked fine for weeks 1-8 and the end of the main program, but while the iPhone app can progress to week 9 and beyond to continue improving performance, the watch app doesn’t. You get left at the “Great Job” and have the ability to scroll back through your history, but not to then follow the continuing program as per the iPhone. Is there any chance of that support coming?.Version: 9.1010

Life changing running journey!I started using a Couch to 5K app. I stuck with it for 8 weeks, running three times a week. The routine alternated between running one day, taking a break the next, and then running again. This app, combined with a treadmill, made a huge difference for me. It guides you through intervals of running and walking, beginning with a warm-up walk followed by one minute of running and one minute of walking. Over time, it gradually increases your running time. You'll be amazed at your progress! By week 8, I could run for five minutes straight, with a one-minute walk about five times. I'd pop in my AirPods, put on a TV show or some music, and let the app run in the background. It even gives you audio cues for when to run or walk, and throws in encouraging words like "good job". The only downside is that you need to stick to it. I made the mistake of taking about a month off and had to backtrack to week 6. While I was able to complete the 8 week run, I was sore due to jumping back into it too fast. While a treadmill isn't necessary, it helped me avoid pushing myself too hard. Years ago, I tried the same program without one and ended up with shin splints from overexerting myself. On the treadmill, I could control the speed – I'd walk at 2.5 mph and jog at a light, sustainable 4 mph..Version: 9.3610

It feels great to run again!I’m 68. Nearer the finish than the start! I’ve kept reasonably fit playing tennis but never thought I’d do any ‘proper running’ again. Given my age, I was naturally cautious. This app gave me the confidence to give it a go. It felt like someone was looking after me. Having achieved my goal of being able to run in Parkruns (5k), I stopped. A year later I found I was missing the joy of running so I reconnected to the app. Because it’s interactive, it hasn’t insisted on going back to Week 1. Instead I’ve started at Week 3 and already I’m feeling my confidence being restored..Version: 9.3300

This is AMAZINGLet me just start by saying if you are truly a beginner runner you will LOVE this. I’m halfway through my weight loss journey but I needed something to help me get into running to start conditioning my body and upping the intensity of my workouts. I still have a little way too go before I’m running a 5K but I’m on week 3 and I am amazed at the difference in my stamina and breathing. I also love that this plays while you listen to your music and it feels like you have a guide helping you through your workout. Yes you will have to pay for the full version but it’s a small price to pay when you’re investing in your health and physique..Version: 9.2240

Great app.Easy to use. Clever app for getting back in to running or starting out..Version: 7.3

The best couch to 5k appThis is a great app, I first downloaded it around 3 years ago and since then have completed the couch to 5k a few times. I had tried to take up running previously but this is the only app that I managed to stick with. The pace is really good for new runners, or those coming back from a lay off / injury etc. The app works with all music apps, tracks your distance, speed, heartbeat, and motivates you by giving you words of encouragement during the run. It will also “remind” you to run every couple of days which is a nice touch. The Apple Watch app is really neat and saves taking the phone out with you. The support from the developer is really good, when I had an issue they came back to me within a day. It sounds expensive when there are free options out there, but for the sake of a one off fee for a lifetime membership it works out very good value..Version: 8.400

Amazing app.Iv always HATED running. Couldn’t run more then a minute with out dying. I’m currently 7 weeks in to using this app and loving it. I can currently run for 25min at a good pace with out stopping and my fitness level has gone so up since starting this app. Pretty amazing considering 2 months ago I had almost no fitness and had never ran more then a few minutes in the last 29 years..Version: 8.054

Great!I’m an older guy (62 come run time) who hasn’t run for many many years. My daughter has asked me to run the 5K portion of an upcoming charity marathon. She suggested this app to help me get ready and be successful at completing my first run. I find the app great! It's very informative and starts you out slowly with a lot of encouragement to help keep you motivated. There are informative articles within as well as links to YouTube videos. I’m hoping to be successful at my first run with my daughter. Thanks to this app I’m feeling more positive about this challenge..Version: 9.3420

Generally great!Going to stick with it, the runs are really helpful, motivating and realistic and ANYONE can do it... only, I can’t find where I started! At the beginning you enter your details and it says ‘based on what you’ve given you should start at week ***’ but I don’t know where that is. I’ve found myself doing the same run twice now because I’ve lost track of which I had or hadn’t done, thinking it would automatically give me my next challenge or tick it off. Frustrating to keep track of (yes there is a history section hidden in settings) but I’m sure it said start at week three, and it appears I have been doing week twos workout (running the same run two/three times 🤦🏼‍♀️). Still a great idea, just having some silly user issues!.Version: 8.180

Never thought I would run againAfter having three children and experiencing severe diastasis rectii, a pelvic organ prolapse and osteoarthritis in my knees and ankles, I had written off running. But being in my 40s and starting to struggle with perimenopausal weight gain and anxiety, I knew I needed to up my exercise levels. I decided to try Couch to 5K because I figured gradual intervals would make it less hard on my body. I’m so glad I did! This app has made a massive difference in my life, and I really look forward to my runs. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to run but has a head full of excuses. I love how it optimises the runs so it’s always just the right level of challenge. I really benefit from the reminders, the structured approach and the cheering coach who says ‘Hey runner!’ Each time I start my run. This app will honestly help you go from couch potato to runner, you just have to download it and get out there..Version: 9.3500

Brilliant app!Completed my 5K today, in a slightly longer time than planned as picked up a completely unassociated back problem so took me 11 weeks rather than 8. From being pretty fit, ill health stopped me exercising for 2 years. Can't quite believe that 3 months ago I struggled with the 1.5 minute runs and now I can do 5K! It's not a huge stretch to push yourself to increase the running at the beginning and the improvement is rapid. I thought I might repeat days but I didn't and just kept pushing myself. Definitely wouldn't have done it without the app..Version: 7.3

Absolutely Amazing AppThis App is Incredible it is really easy to use and it kept me inspired with all of the inspirational quotes and badges you collect on your journey to 5k. I also loved how you can play your own music so that you know what you like and what will push you to keep running. This app has made running feel more like an activity rather than a chore. And as a young 14 year old boy this really helped push myself to achieve my goals.Version: 8.150

I went from hating the idea of running, to scheduling time to run every dayI knew that running was a great workout, but I didn’t have the endurance, motivation, discipline or athleticism needed to follow through with it. I researched different apps for a while and finally came across this one. It cost $10 to get the full features so I figured I might as well try it. I’m on week 7 day 1 (each of the 8 weeks consists of 3-4 weekly runs) and today I was able to run 20 minutes non-stop at a high speed without any difficulty. This is something that would have never been possible for me in the past. The app has allowed me to learn how to run in a way in which I actually enjoy the workout and feel strong and accomplished afterwards. I know I still have a long way to go, but this app has made such a difference in my daily routine and allowed me to finally enjoy running. I’m almost done with the 8 week program, and I’m even thinking about signing up for my first 5K. Don’t think twice, download this and start running..Version: 8.056

AmazingThis app took me from someone who didn’t even work on a regular basis to someone who runs a few times every week. It adapted to make me feel progress and not feel like a failure. I would recommend holding the padlock to make sure you don’t accidentally delete your progress part way through a run 😊.Version: 8.540

Couch to 5k is awesome!Great app, easy to use and easier to get results!.Version: 7.3

Works but a battery hog!Really well stepped plan. Only negative is that it’s inexplicably battery hungry..Version: 8.510

It works 😀I never leave reviews but this app has changed my life - no exaggeration. I have never been able to run ... ever. At school I couldn't... as an adult I would rather miss a bus than run for it. This morning I ran for 4K and 30 mins AND .... I love it !! It's taken me longer than eight weeks - I've had to repeat some sessions but going from feeling like running for a minute was killing me to genuinely enjoying running for half an hour - I can't even explain how happy I am. If this app can get me running then anyone can do it 👍🏻.Version: 7.3

First Time RunnerI’ve found this app really helpful as a first time runner. I’m a female in my mid thirties and have never attempted to train to be able to run 5k. I love the concept of the NHS C25K programme but wanted something that could adapt to my abilities, which this app does by asking you a set of questions at the beginning and then checking in with you at the end of each “run”. I also like the simplicity of the app and that it counts down the minutes you have remaining in each interval (this encourages me to keep going because I can see how long I have left at each stage). It also gives you handy hints and advice to follow before, during and after each session. Rest days are absolutely key and the app makes sure you understand why (even if it does feel like cheating / giving up, it’s not, it’s helping you to get better…!) My only criticism is that there isn’t an option or way to tell the app you’ve sustained an injury, which inevitably impacts progress. If that could be added as a feature, this app would be the holy grail..Version: 9.3610

Awesome program!I’ve done this program a few times over the last few years. It’s tried and true. Great for beginners or folks like me that keep beginning. I highly recommend it!.Version: 9.3500

Worth every cent!Purchased the App during the pandemic. I still have it. I still use it. If you start jogging, like I did, you can pick up where you left off or start over at the beginning so you don’t kill yourself. Worth every cent. I spend way more money on beer! Don’t be cheap!.Version: 9.3500

Great App!When I started using this app, I hated running but decided to take it up as something to do in quarantine. Now, I really enjoy running and can run further than I thought I could. The programme is very effective, and is at the right level of challenge for each run. I think showing how many calories burnt, distance covered and time spent exercising is really good, and the format is simple and easy to read. I find this great as some running apps show information in complicated graphs which can be hard to interpret. The only downfalls with the app are: the voice and the distance covered feature. I would like to know if the distance shown is the total distance or just what you ran. The problem with the voice is that it doesn’t say much once you get to the later runs and no longer have to walk. A little more commentary would be good. The voice is also very fake and robotic, and sounds like some fake American doll. Could we have the option to make it different accents, because I would definitely prefer to listen to a British accent. When these things are clarified/fixed I will rate 5 stars..Version: 8.180

This app changed my lifeI started this app in March 2020. At that point, I couldn’t even run for five minutes straight and I used to hate running. However, after each workout, I felt accomplished, not defeated and I would look forward to the next run. (I think that the fact that this app goes by time and not distance has a lot to do with it because I felt forced to find a pace that was sustainable for me.) I eventually made it to 5k and then started running 5k every other day for a month. Once I felt comfortable, I moved on to the 10K app and now I am working towards a half marathon! This app has given me so much confidence in myself and I have never felt stronger physically or mentally. Accomplishing something that I never thought I would be able to do is life changing and it has improved my mental health tremendously. Running has been a big part of my life now for a year and I look forward to continuing to progress and improve. This app is designed perfectly for those who simultaneously fear running but desire to become runners..Version: 8.330

ExcellentI don’t leave many reviews, but this deserves one. Exactly as you’d expect - it builds you up to 5K and it does it brilliantly. I’ve never come home from a run with that feeling of complete exhaustion, just worked out, which means I’m always keen to go again. I think that’s the difference, in the past, taking up running meant I’d go and try to run a long way and leaving yourself exhausted each time it just puts you off. This, however, builds it up and keeps you keen. Top app..Version: 8.010

Great way to get started!A fab, easy way to get started!.Version: 7.3

Literally changed my life!!I'm not exaggerating, my confidence has soared and I'm so happy! I did a family 5k and finished shaking and unable to breathe or get off the ground in 44 minutes.. but i got hit with the running bug, which was in April... I stuck with it 3 times a week, sometimes missing a day here or there, and repeating a few days, but I just recently ran my own personal 5k, and finished being very tired, but not as beat as my first one... and in only 35min! 9 minutes off my time! I'm down 8 more pounds since adding this into my daily routine, and I am now moving on to the 5k pacer app! More importantly than just smashing my time, I was able to RUN THE ENTIRE TIME! That is just crazy to me! Your body really gets conditioned to running! Whether you repeat days or weeks, or miss a day here or there, keep going! Trust the program! I'm so happy I did! And for the love of God... -stretch after running!! -do the 5min warm up walk! -go to a runners shoe store to get fitted for real runners shoes, I can't stress that enough! Knock on wood but doing all this I have never had any injury or anything beyond typical muscle soreness!.Version: 7.3

A great app for “non-runners”This is a fantastic app for people who want to start running, but aren’t too sure how to go about it. After a few failed attempts at running, I download 5k Runner. It breaks down runs into sessions that are achievable, yet challenging, and allows for flexibility (I had to repeat a few runs, and even go back a week or two when I fell unwell). I can now run 5km, and am enjoying running so much that I am working my way through the 5k Pacer and 10k Runner apps, too!.Version: 8.120

Just what the doctor ordered (literally)I am pre-diabetic which means if my weight gets away from me I could enter into diabetes. My doctor had recommended exercising which until now I’ve avoided. I knew I needed to start running and what I lacked was motivation. It’s too easy to cheat, cut corners and basically get out of a meaningful run or exercise if you lack discipline. I lack discipline, and won’t deny it. This simple app commits you to a specific goal each time you use. I would feel guilty cutting corners with this app and so I don’t. Each workout gives you a tangible and achievable goal. When you reach that goal you feel both physically as well as mentally fulfilled. So yes, 5 stars. I am doing the trial but will buy the unlimited $10 full app. It’s worth every penny. A copay to the doctor for one visit is 3x’s that so yeah pretty easy choice..Version: 7.5
