More music app optionsI would appreciate it more if they were to add YouTube music or soundcloud as a platform to get music from, I would really enjoy that.Version: 3.2.7

“Could not load track: Operation not permitted”I’ve been using this app since 2021 and I loved it. This is a really nice software that lets you make really good music, but lately I’ve been going through a really bad issue: I’ve been getting a prompt on the screen very often that says “Could not load track: Operation not permitted” and I can’t load a track at all. The only way you could use the app is by force closing the app and open it back again, which is very impractical and annoying. I can’t load a track after another and sometimes I can’t even use the app. I’d like to get this error fixed as soon as possible. Like I said, I really love this app and I even pay a yearly subscription to use all features, but this problem will lead me to cancel the subscription and uninstall the app. Please address this issue as soon as possible..Version: 4.1.10

At past best dj app but now scam appI bought the pro and djay 2 and djay versions, but with this update, the other versions I've bought are not in the company's list of products, and now that I want to work with this version, I'm still asking for money for the same functionality. More like a scam app than a professional program.Version: 3.0.1

Bad move...I made the mistake of not following the reviews here. I would not recommend downloading, you will be lured into a value offer for a cheaper year then switch to monthly or a free week then monthly. The new version is more like all the other useless deejay apps and has completely lost the simplicity that made it great, without adding the one single feature it needed to make it perfect... the ability to nudge with a brush of your hand..Version: 3.0.1

Was good until new update. As soon as this new update came out, the load function on my midi controller stopped working. It’s kind of problematic if you can’t load songs to the app... Please fix this..Version: 3.1.1

Update 5.0 Ruined a great appThey had it. They’d nailed it. Even though this app was way overpriced at $50 PER YEAR, it had some cool features, nice effects, and the element separation wasn’t bad at all. The syncing was rock solid. Then somebody sitting in an office got bored. Now, garbage. BPMs are all over the place, no matter what you have sync type set to. One mix I did started at 112 bpm. By the time the fader was to the other side, the bpm was bouncing around and ended up just under 120 bpm. Imagine that during a set. Even with the key lock on, you could hear the changes. Pretty bad to mess up one of the foundation features of a near perfect app right before the biggest party of the year. Worthless to me now. Unless they fix this, I’m going to let my wasted money run out the subscriptions (I suckered into iOS and Windows) and go back to the tried and true real pro apps while Algo laughs to the bank..Version: 5.0.2

Subscription required/absolute ripoffI’m a DJ and Musician so I thought this app might be fun to have on my phone to mess around with and maybe use to build set lists when I’m out but nope, it requires a subscription. There’s no need to constantly pay for an app like this. If it does everything it claims to do I would have been willing to pay good money for this (like the $30 their asking for yearly payments of) but as a one time fee not repeatedly that’s wild of the developers to think that any DJ app justifies a monthly or yearly bill. These developers are getting out of hand trying to make everything a subscription, you could use this money to buy new music every month or sign up for a music streaming service or if you’re a new DJ trying to get started, save the money and put it towards real DJ gear. A monthly or yearly subscription no matter how much for an app like this is an absolute ripoff, a one time fee would have been more appropriate. Actual legitimate music creation apps like Drambo, Korg gadget and Koala sampler that have the tools and features to create an entire song from scratch are even one time fee apps and they are much more complex and harder to design than an app that simply lets you play back and DJ music that’s already made. Absolute rip off and greedy of the devs, this one is an instant delete..Version: 4.0.12

Biggest Fan/Power User - but Version 5 is LAGGYHi algoriddim if you’re reading this…. As title suggests I’ve been using this app since version 1. In fact, I bought the first gen iPad just to pretty much just use the app. I liked it so much, I soon got rid of my Pioneer CDJ’s and mixer. I’ve always been able to do far better mixes and manipulate tracks/vocals/beats etc. with this app than you ever could with Pioneer kit. So, all was more than amazing - until this new ‘Version 5’. I’m now on a 3rd gen. iPad Pro and I’m sorry guys, but it’s soooooo laggy. The app on my iPad could previously analyse and skip through full fat WAV tracks in the blink of an eye. But now, it’s clunky and struggling/freezing when simply sliding/skipping forward and back to points on a track. Also, don’t know why when you’ve added functionality to the crossfader you’ve removed position markings from it?! Anyway, that’s currently the least of my worries. I wouldn’t be writing this if I didn’t care, because like I’ve said, I guarantee I’m one of this apps biggest fans/users. BUT, on an iPad Pro the app currently feels like it’s one swipe away from crashing to the point where I’m no longer confident to use it live in front of an audience. Pretty much every update of Djay has run beautifully on the 5 iPads I’ve had, but my verdict on this latest update - sorry algoriddim, but currently it’s not running smoothly at all…...Version: 5.0.1

Not to happy with new update...I’ve been using program for 2 years now and so very disappointed I can’t use the Neural Mix with Tidal anymore. Hoping this gets resolved or you can team up with another streaming service to use this feature which had made me a loyal customer ..Version: 4.1.10

UpdateCan u guys stop doing weird rearranging updates. it's not as good as it used to be. idk how to even slow stuff down anymore.Version: 5.0.3

Bait and switch (updated)I previously wrote an angry review with one star for this app. I am seriously annoyed with companies switching to a subscription model instead of supporting apps or desktop applications people have already paid for and expected support for. That said, I am updating my review and rating due to the fact that this update is excellent. It’s the best DJ app on iOS. For 4 stars, I implore Algoriddim GmbH to allow for more comprehensive editorial of the beat grid. Bonus points for allowing the user to create new audio files with truncated versions of tracks. Some songs have sliding, evolving, or distinct tempo sections. “Batdance” by Prince is a great example. There’s basically another song embedded in the middle of that track. As a vinyl DJ I understand that skill can overcome these limitations, but as an Apple customer who just bought a powerful new iPad Pro, I want my machine to use all it’s processor power to make my life easier and to free up my brain goo processor for other creative activities (microphone banter, visuals, dance-offs, etc). For 5 stars, make this app compatible with Audiobus technology (like DJ Pro is/was). I would also suggest, if they are receptive, ask Ableton if “DJ” can read .ALS files so that all the warp marking labor undertaken by users can be interpreted non-destructively (ie: without rendering a new audio file). Keep up the good work..Version: 3.0.3

WHY no library analysis??? Other apps do it...Dear folks at DJay: I have over 7,000 tracks on my device, to which I add new ones on an almost daily basis - yes, some of us ARE VERY SERIOUS DJs, and I simply cannot manually load every track into a deck in order for the software to analyse it. Your software therefore CANNOT be considered pro level with this GLARING omission. Fix this, and then this becomes a killer app, especially paired with hardware such as the Reloop Mixtour. But until such time BPM analysis of an entire library/folder/album is possible, this software will ALWAYS come second to others on the App Store, and therefore will NOT be my go-to choice. Traktor DJ 2 has issues with large libraries and won’t load for me...AT THE MOMENT. They WILL fix that, and then the choice for me will be easy, as I have both a Mixtour and a NI Kontrol X1, but the library analysis feature of TDJ2 WILL win out, and you will lose another subscriber. YOU decide if you want people at pro level to use your software, or if you’re happy just being seen as a toy company that’s backup for pro DJs..Version: 3.4.1

Can’t use with Apple MusicI just purchased the pro version and still can’t use it. I feel like I was tricked because it said after paying for it, I should be able to use my songs from Apple Music. Can you confirm this or refund my money please. However, I tried a free version on a Samsung phone and it works perfectly… but I don’t have a Samsung phone.Version: 4.1.10

V5 sync scratch brokenEven with the setting disabled , when I scratch it looses sync. Please fix fast on DDJ-200. Work around is to set CC 33 unconfigured for both jog wheels..Version: 5.0

Looks niceIf you just use the automix features this is probably great, but thats not why i bought it. I wanted something where i could manually mix. Things like pitch control are hidden away and its very difficult with fingers to get the pitch exactly where you want when your fingers leave the screen. Its far from precise as it is, but when your finger leaves the screen the end position of the slider is a little random. Not sure what could be done about that to add more precision but it would make this far less frustrating to use. The other annoyance is the ui layout. When getting a track in time i have to dip into a sub screen to set the pitch then back out to tap the + or - to nudge it. Then out and in again. This is probably all fine for someone with hardware controls, but if you are just having a mix on the screen its a real fiddle and a lot of improvement could be made without too much of a rethink. I just need a screen that contains ui to: Increase/decrease Pitch slider The + and - (like a gentle push/touch on the platter) Switch pitch control focus to other deck Crossfader Give me a screen with just that, to get a mix nice and locked in without fuss, and i would have something usable!.Version: 3.7.5

ScamThey took money out of my account without my permission Have asked for a refund as I didn’t want a years subscription I only just downloaded the app and it assumed I wanted a years subscription.Version: 3.5.1

Don’t updateWas working well with my reloop then I updated this app. Really angry... freezes at a gig!! I’ll find sonething else to use.Version: 3.1.5

New version has no headphone cue on IDJPROI’ve had the previous version and used it with my numark IDJPRO for at least r years now with no problems. Unfortunately some of the tracks that have played fine over the years have started to crash half way through. Because of that I tried to re download the app but got this new version instead. At first it was all going well until I plugged it into the IDJPRO. I found with the “classsic” version which I have and originally paid £20 or so I found that you can’t cue the next track up on your headphones. To be able to cue the next track up on your headphones you have to pay the £6.99 per month. What a rip off!!!!. I can understand them wanting to charge for new features such as all the sound effects but to start charging for something that was already on the previous app is a con. Such a shame because having loved messing about with my numark and this app they are now both useless unless I cough up 7 quid a month. I have e mailed them to enquire about this but of course have not received a reply.Version: 3.1.7

Neural & TidalWith the new streaming license that was just released with Tidal which does not allow the use of Neural is extremely disappointing, I will not be renewing my subscription..Version: 4.1.10

Updates left a bad tasteI loved DJay, until the updates messed with the way the cue buttons looked and the edit cue button mode behaved. (Seriously? Splitting a tiny button into 3 functions with no certainty what the button might do if you try to hit it quickly, will it jump to the cue point, delete it or try to rename it depending upon which zone of the tiny button you hit, with no demarcating lines to visibly split the button into 3 sections). DJay will never be taken seriously as a competitor to the big 3 pro DJ software software (Serato, Virtual, Traktor) while they do regular updates which change the way existing functions look and work. DJs get used to a way of working, develop a muscle memory for where buttons are, what they look like and what they do. You can’t just change these things on a whim. That’s for toy apps, not Pro DJ software..Version: 3.8.1

Best Dj app you can Download 1major flawThis app is incredible taking Djing into the future all the features are next level. Being able to create stems on the fly is just mind boggling crazy good. But what is the point if you can play any of the music from the music app you either need tidal or deezer if you Do you can’t record your mixes. Which I understand using these apps that’s fine. So I load my iPhone & iPad with music I get from BpM supreme and I keep getting The music is DRM protected or not downloaded. And the music I have is Downloaded I keep checking and re download still get that error and can not be played but it works just fine in the desktop Djay app. It’s super frustrating the work around I have is using files app but still all my music playlist I can’t use is a frustrating experience. Been supporter since Day 1 literally followed algoriddim since 2012 and I subscribed right away when the app went monthly. And I support paying $5 because the Game changing features you guys offer but if I can not play any music on the music app that’s in my phone what’s the point l!! it’s Ike having a tricked out Ferrari that can’t leave the garage..Version: 3.8.1

Jumped shipI’ve been using djay since it first come out on the iPad. Been using the paid version for quite awhile now as well, it’s very user friendly on the Mac and iPad and neural mix was a game changer. But twice now it has randomly deleted my playlist from my iPad and now laptop. Which is very frustrating as there was hours of music just wiped. I think the most annoying thing is that your playlist don’t automatically sync to all devices (if it did then this wouldn’t be a problem). I’ve been on their forum and they’ve been aware that people have been asking for the sync function for years now and still no movement with this?? So unfortunately until this becomes a thing I’ve now decided to jump to rekordbox. Hopefully they’ll sort this and I’ll happily continue to pay for this software..Version: 4.1.4

Spotify integration removalFor the last couple of years it has been the ONLY app I was using to dj at every party and events because it allows to play any saved songs on spotify and any special requests from friends. By removing Spotify you force me to subscribe to an other streaming platform which is very disappointing. I paid for this app and for my Spotify account for the last couple of years... I will find an other application to dj from now on, until you itegrate back Spotify..Version: 3.4.2

Djay pro vs upgradeI have always loved djay. So much that years ago I bought a lifetime upgrade to djay pro. Now djay pro crashes when I try to do simple things. And there is always a banner at the top that says upgrade for free. To the new version which is subscription based. So my fear is that when I “upgrade for free” I will start being charged for a subscription for something that the developer and I agreed that I had the full version for life because I payed to unlock it when that was the only option to upgrade. That all being said. Dev should either maintain old version of pro to a much higher standard or give a break to the people that have supported them since the beginning and let us upgrade for free for life on all upgrades that WILL be maintained because that was the agreement. I have to give 2 stars because I can’t use the app as is. I will upgrade to 5 if this is fixed. Again. I love this app, but I simply cannot pay subscription fees for all the apps that I previously payed for the full version of..Version: 4.1.8

Lots of potentialFor an app, it’s very good but it’s not as useful for me with the hardware I use with it. I actually like the interface better than Serato DJ Pro but the inability to use it in external mixer mode makes me lean towards using Serato. In addition I could never get consistent movement from the interaction between the hardware pitch fader and the app pitch fader. Hopefully in the future they will release fixes to address these issues. So, it lost 1 star for the pitch fader issue and one more for being forced to only use the internal mixer mode only with my hardware. If you use different hardware or don’t need the external mixer mode it could score a 5/5 for you. One major reason why is because the IOS version of iTunes/music works much better than the PC version which is very slow even on a very powerful 8 core laptop..Version: 3.7.9

Mis leading library functions. If you use Apple Music or iTunes algoriddem implies you can load songs from your library and dj with your tunes. This is false algoriddem has never fixed the DRM bug and when you load your library, songs will be unavailable to use in this program. Also this program doesn’t support all mixers, if you have a native instruments mixer algoriddem does not support. For a subscription based software it gives very little support in the major bug and compatibility problems. I really tried to give this program a shot but constantly trying to work around the DRM bug made it more of a hassle dj’ing when you go to load a song up that was once available to load then all of sudden isn’t available to load. In the forums they’re is no real answers to the DRM issue other than make a lesser quality mp3. With a large library that is truly unrealistic. Don’t do it!.Version: 4.1

New connection issues make it almost unusable. As an intermediate DJ, this app does everything I could ask it to do. However, only just a couple days ago, it started being unable to connect to my DDJ-200. I use an iPad as my primary device, and that’s where the problem is. It connects just fine if I use my phone, which I find quite annoying and inconvenient. Bluetooth is Bluetooth so what’s the problem? I’ve tried everything to remedy the issue. Rebooting my iPad several times, deleting the app and reinstalling it, unplugging and plugging back in the DDJ-200, everything, all to no avail. I’ve reached out for help by several methods and have gotten zero response. Algoriddim, please hire an intern or something to manage your Instagram page and to provide responses to questions. Adding insult to injury, I’m a Djay Pro subscriber. Quite inconvenient to have paid for a year subscription only to not even be able to use it how I want. Oh and another thing, I migrated to Tidal (annoyed about that too) and the track list doesn’t provide the key of the track for like half of my set list. Just make your app work 100% how it’s supposed to. Other than that, I have no complaints..Version: 3.3.5

Unusable.Crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME on launch. It’s either the app that crashes on launch or it forces my entire iPad into a reboot. And no it’s not my iPad, it’s on the latest version and this problem only occurs with Djay. I’ve tried uninstalling it and reinstalling a countless number of times. I’ve also tried the community forum where I was directed to send a diagnostic report which resulted in neither a fix or at the very least a reply. It’s pretty frustrating because when it was working, it was great. I was also going to purchase windows version but given my experience, I think it would probably be better to buy an alternative..Version: 4.0.1

Beware of Controller compatibilityI have the Numark iDJ Pro controller which I bought to use on my iPad with the original Algoriddim DJ app. The software and controller worked flawlessly, when DJ2 and DJ PRO came along, they added features and it just kept getting better and better. Then came this version, and it’s currently unusable for me for gigs despite costing a small fortune in comparison to the much more compatible and much more reasonably priced earlier versions. Much of the issue is due to this particular controller operating in a ‘Portrait’ layout as opposed ‘Landscape’ which the new app struggles to handle. Indeed in portrait orientation, only the ‘classic’ mode is available however, it looks more like a badly scaled version of the ‘looper’ mode where the text on each loop effect is unreadable. It’s very disappointing as my controller is listed on the website for the app as being native for the app..... it is far from it. The new features of the app look promising, but there are some basic fundamentals that need to be ironed out before I’d even think of considering to subscribe to this going forward - indeed going forward seems like an ironic term to use for this app... cause it seems to be a petty significant backwards step for a developer that until now I’ve only known excellence.Version: 3.1.9

Went from a useful tool to an app riddled with upselling advertisements.I purchased this app In full when it came out a while back. At some point, I stopped using it and came back only to find that the app I paid for was discontinued and this one set to take its place. This app is now riddled with upsells to the pro subscription service. 40 percent of the development seems to be adding new ways to remind me how the app I paid for so long ago won’t work unless I pay more money every year. With the recent update, the one feature I used most often (BPM adjustments) has been completely gutted and gimped to basic functionality. What a joke. I get it. This app is intended for professionals and professional software is transitioning to subscription-based solutions. Very well, but to pooch the ones that paid already by axing the original djay app and leaving them in the dust? Ill pass. I’ve dealt with the changes for awhile now but this last update strips down the one remaining feature I stayed for, and guts the others out too I’m sure..Version: 5.0.1

Good but...The app is very good but as a dj when I cross fade I like to turn down the base of the song coming in, putting the volume up as I go and then after around a bar or two I turn it back up while the outcome goes track gets base turned down and volume down as well. You can’t do all of this easily. Also, it is very expensive for what it is. I know it comes with samplers and loops and everything but I can get that with things like Serato and Traktor. I can produce my own samplers and use them so why would I pay for it.Version: 3.6

FRAUDENo sirve ni con Apple música ni con Spotify y lo peor cobran.Version: 4.1.10

Was perfect before newest updateFirst time I'm writing a review in hopes developers see this 😢 I use this app on daily basis it's apart of my main setup. I've gotten used to the tad of a delay because this runs off wifi but after the update it's gotten ridiculous!? The app is responding horribly late when I press on cues and also starts playing by itself after it recognizes I pressed a cue. The app litterally shut down on me in the middle of playing?? How can I trust this setup when I'm playing live now?? Also when you set a loop it drops a cue and sometimes gets confused on the playback if you already had a cue set at the same spot? I have a big gig next week playing at a local festival and I'm super nervous if I'll be able to play adequately with this new update? I can't have music playing when it decides way AFTER I've pressed the cue or shut down on me in the middle of playing???.Version: 4.0

It’s a great app! But the update—After the recent update, a feature I often used was the ability to change the song’s pitch no matter what speed it was playing at. It’d be nice to have that back. Right now you can only play the song at its original pitch regardless of speed or at the pitch of the set speed....like, I can’t play the song at a higher bpm and have it at a lower pitch than the original, I miss doing jams like that. Actually that was the only reason why I used this app over eDjing for a while. Buts that feature is gone now....hmmm I paid for the premium version hoping the feature would be there but was disappointed to find that it wasn’t. Eh, I don’t really see a reason to use an app that doesn’t have different features from the competition in general..Version: 3.0.3

I can longer afford the subscriptionAs I still dont use this as my main DJ program but as a backup I can longer afford the subscription price as my cost of living is ridiculous - Please consider a one off price after the year for us loyal customers who have bought and paid for all your old versions now which will never use again - thank you.Version: 4.1.10

DisappointedHow is it that Spotify has the ability to work with this APP and Apple Music is DRM. the stuff I don’t have downloaded, it says turn on iCloud Library. Thing is it already is and when I click the songs I do have downloaded “DRM” When will this be sorted to level the playing field with Spotify.Version: 2.8.13

What?I cant put a song on the disk.Version: 2.8.19

Free version locks me outI really enjoy the basic features of this app and have no need whatsoever for the advanced features. I just want to load, queue up and mix tracks. No effects, sync, pictures etc. I contacted the maker and was told that I could do all this unrestricted with the free version. Great! I was happy to pay something, but not the very large amount they require for the full unlock. This week I have had two gigs ruined by the app telling me I had reached the end of my allowance of time and that I need to sign up for the free trial… and then the app locked me out… in effect I have to sign up to pay the annual subscription. In spite of their reassurances that this would not happen. As I told the maker, I am happy to pay because it’s a great app. But I don’t like being lied to. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a strong competitor so I may not have a choice..Version: 3.8.4

I used to love this app...I was running a version from mid-2019 up until yesterday. I had an app error with another app which accidentally caused my old version to update to this TRASH new version. I’m no DJ, I just used this app for EQ and volume adjustments with my iTunes library, I even bought one of the old loop packs WAY back when during the djay / djay 2 days. My issue is, now I’m limited by this “play duration” trash on the new version, which has COMPLETELY destroyed the experience for me. Now I’m trapped behind a paywall for “unlimited plays” that I just lost access to for simple EQ, volume adjustments and speed control? The LEAST you guys can do would be to have a one time PAID upgrade to return my features that I used without the subscription. I would GLADLY pay 10-25 dollars one time simply to have the app back to the original way I used it. If you guys do that, my opinion will easily jump up to a 5, and odds are I’ll even buy individual loop packs if those are available. But at this moment? I’m GREATLY disappointed.Version: 3.8.4

AvoidThis a my first taste of a DJ app, and I have to say it will probably be my last. I used to mix records years ago on Technics turntables if you can remember them, but obviously it’s all gone digital now like everything. Your app won’t load tracks, when it eventually does your apps pitch is way too sensitive, and when I try to input it manually it does sod all. Just a complete joke of an app really. I’m sure there are better out there, but your app has kind of put me off even trying to look for others. Thanks for that. Tried your app once again and it won’t load any music at all. A complete waste of space. I subscribed and very quickly unsubscribed, useless. And I have to say it’s very unprofessional of you to not even reply. Very poor, avoid this app like the plague..Version: 4.1.5

DisappointingSuch a shame to be writing this review after all these years because the app does a lot of things very well. There’s unfortunately one thing that it does quite badly, and it’s so fundamental that it makes the app almost unusable for its purpose of making professional sounding mixes. That thing is the EQ and I had hoped that after all these years some changes would be made (especially with this Pro subscription) but it’s remained the same throughout. The problem is the faders, it’s almost like they’ve been programmed to act in reverse. Trying to subtly drop out a tiny bit of any band results in a drastic cut that is instantly noticeable to the listener. The changes after the initial drastic cut becomes more subtle the lower you drop the fader from unity. This is the opposite of what you want on a dj mixer, unless you’re just trying to make some cheesy mashups and don’t care about how you go about it. This makes it almost impossible to make a seamless mix when you’re trying to delicately balance EQ’s and subtly blend tracks one into another. Part of the problem is that the faders also don’t respond to small inputs when moving them away from unity and seem to just snap to a setting that is always lower than what you are going for. It’s a shame because this app does a lot of things top notch, but unless the EQ problem is ever sorted, I won’t be able to use it for anything more than messing around..Version: 3.3.4

Far Too ExpensiveThe app is powerful. I appreciate there has been money spent on getting it this good. But you’ve failed on setting a fair pricing structure. $7.49/month!?!? That’s insane. This is a phone app, don’t forget. For anyone serious about DJing they will have hardware, a laptop, other software. This app is for mucking around at the park, in your bed, on the bus. This is NOT real DJ software and does NOT warrant the price tag..Version: 3.0.1

No SpotifyI can’t find a button to sign into Spotify.Version: 3.7.5

Good features, terrible beat analysisI really want to like the software, I’m trying transition from a laptop to an iPad setup. The features are great and the stem like functionality is something that I’m impressed with. Unfortunately the beat analysis is terrible, all my tracks are read at the wrong bpm and the sync function is usually out by 2 beats in the beat grid. Recordbox, Serato and Tracktor handle this perfectly. I find I have to manually beat match which is fine but find this frustrating when I’ll rather be concentrating on the mix and on other software it works without issue. I have reported this to support but had no reply, don’t seem like they are interested..Version: 4.1.2

Bring back Spotify plzzzzzSoundCloud GO+ FREAKIN' SUCKS!!! It would be so easier for EVERYONE!!!.Version: 4.1.10

Djay 2 was betterI’ve been a user of algoriddim for quite a while now, as time has passed the updates have gradually gotten worse and worse. Bugs coming out from the woodwork when they were fine before the update. With this new djay pro, I’m finding the songs don’t sync correctly and sometimes the tempo is altered by just turning off the bounce or changing the filter or low end of the sound. It’s very odd and frustrating. I use to use djay 2 as a way to make house mixes for my own and friends enjoyment but now I feel as though I can’t record anything decent as It could be ruined by something so simple as the songs not being in sync, sounds going out of tune or the tempo being slowed down. Sorry Algoriddim, please resolve these problems and il for sure be using it again, for now, il resort back to djay 2.Version: 3.5.2

QuestionableHi, I’ve used the app on various devices over many years and have loved it and has accelerated my sharing skills when out and about but the new update is questionable. Overall it looks great and has various improvements, but it’s hard to get used to. One thing I’m fairly frustrated with, is that there doesn’t seem to be any automatic beat jump anymore? As the beat analysis isn’t always correct in the app, I would use beat jump to check the analysis is fine before mixing in the next song. Also it would assist in bringing and mixing in quicker for a double drop. Not sure if it’s still in the app anymore but I can’t find it at all on iPhone. Can you advise?.Version: 4.0.1

IOS Software issuesI’ve had the Pioneer DDJ-400 bought for me as a birthday gift. I’ve been trying to use your app to play music but unfortunately the music I want to use I cannot play on your app. Most of my music comes from my Apple Music library but I cannot play anything through your app unless it’s through the iTunes I have purchased. Why am I able to play song’s through iTunes but not through Apple Music if their both IOS software? Is there anyway in which I can play my Apple Music through your app?.Version: 3.8.9

Subscription modelWorst decision ever. An open ended subscription model is just a money grab . If it was a set price that could be spread over a curtain time frame and once the product is paid for then the payments stop i would be ok with that but to keep user chained to dish out cash over and over again is just wrong. I personally never use software unless it can be paid for outright or over a set period of time. Plus don’t use the excuse about always having the latest version , it should be up to the user if they want to upgrade..Version: 3.8.1

Too buggyI’ve been using djay for 10 years now. I’ve been making mixes with the old version the entire time. I downloaded this new upgrade alongside the old one. While i love the features — skip, multiple ways to get to the equalizer, the apparent Neural features, etc — the software is just too buggy. I’ve had the screen just completely freeze on me several times. No clue what’s going on. It also is sometimes delayed in acting on my touch inputs. This is unacceptable where precision is needed. Other times, input is delayed to match the synced beat grid — or something, I really don’t understand what the software is doing. It is too unpredictable for me to record music. I might put a LOT of time into prepping a mix, but the software is likely to freeze or choke during the live record. This wastes my time and is frustrating AF..Version: 3.5.12

No longer worth the investmentAs an occasional desktop DJ and for use at the odd house party this app (up to v2) used to be great. I paid what I thought was a decent chunk of cash for an app, but one which I enjoyed enough to feel like it was worth it. I bought BOTH the iOS and Mac versions. I even bought the sound FX packs. Moving to a subscription model is sadly as typical as it is inappropriate these days. I don’t want to pay £3-5 a month for every single app in the world, especially apps which I don’t always use and do NOT provide any type of ongoing SERVICE or CONTENT. This is a product. If you develop a new version with compelling new features every few years, I’ll consider making an upgrade purchase. If this came with access to content, such as a discounted music/video service, a subscription model would make sense. What am I subscribing to here??? —- I also had an offer in the djay 2 app that updating would provide a “Permanent unlock of PRO features” in the new version, only to be shown a different offer of a not-so-permanent 6 month unlock, after which I’m automatically subscribed...to what, I’m not sure..Version: 3.3.5

DJay 2 is betterThe graphics on this version are more basic and cartoony than DJay 2. Dislike the new “impossible” slotless cross fader and portrait mixer faders which to me just look and feel wrong and the new basic shading on the turntables, tone arm & platter look less professional compared to the realistic and more solid style and layout of DJay 2. There are some elements of the edition are improved like the EQ in landscape (which has fader slots) and the EQ mixer in Portrait is more realistic (apart from it now missing fader slots) but some other elements now looking less realistic seems like not an improvement. What was/is cool about DJay is that it looks like some real DJ kit neatly packed into your phone - Cross DJ used to but since it went simple Vector / Ableton drawn style UI I stopped using it I prefer the more interface looking more lifelike than wireframe. I know some like that the minimalist style + may not even relate to turntables - so surely an app could have the option to choose between the realistic and modern / wireframe in settings to choose the preferred skin?.Version: 3.6.1

Stop fixing what ISNT BROKEN!!!!!!!!!So ive used this app daily from when it was djay 2 an honestly couldnt shout about it enough! the original pro was awesome. Now youve become money hungry n charge an extortion to have simple pro features. Also sad that djay 2 isnt simple available to d load for new users as i would send them there. There no cue option now on 4 decks so is pointless. Plus it lags when trying to use cues so drops a second after you press it. All in all you’ve gone the wrong way for dj’s. Especially those that aren’t just sync soldiers!!!! Im quite lost as to how you’ve ended up with this garbage now!!!!.Version: 3.1.4

How do I get the free oneHow do I get the free one.Version: 3.7.9

It’s a trapYou’ll have to subscribe to get anything worthwhile out of this app. It has the potential to be a fantastic app but the greed of the developers has rendered the free version almost useless. The feature all DJs need, the ability to pre cue, is nowhere to be seen unless you pay a premium, come on guys, the ability to cue your next song is the bedrock of what DJing is all about. Massive facepalm. I know you got bills to pay but why not stick to making your money on the music subscription referrals or your amazing neural AI. Or, throw a couple of ads in when you start up the app? Or, split your subscription benefits into individual in app purchases, I’d happily pay a few quid as a one off to be able to pre cue. It’s a real shame..Version: 4.1.3

What a mess...I’ve been using DJ Pro for years and love it. Unnecessarily complex doesn’t begin to describe this hot mess of an “update.” I am constantly hitting menu buttons to change views back and forth just to do some basic mixing. In 4 deck view, you cannot control the basic volume of the track and the FX controls at the same time because they are on two completely different pages! ???!!!??? The library (as others have mentioned) is now so small and complex that it’s difficult to find the next song quickly so you can get back to mixing. This is not an update, it’s a downgrade and a waste of money. I paid my $9.99 to try it out. Learn from my mistake, save your money and buy a real DJ program, because this app is not it. And seriously, what is the subscription for and where is the value for the monthly fee? The loops? We have to punch through so many menu options just to get there (and back) that the song will be over before we can even add a basic kick or snare to our mix. What a waste..Version: 3.0.6

Well...Used all the previous Djay apps and was happy enough with Pro and happily used it for years. Didn’t want to upgrade to a subscription service but thought I would take advantage of the offer. I have gone back to using the previous Djay Pro. What’s new is pointless for me. Not saying this is bad, but I think it’s a bit of a step backwards. As the previous versions have been removed from the store I can’t recommend those over this. If you haven’t tried the previous apps then this is worthwhile if you don’t mind paying a sub. If you have any of the previous versions and are thinking about moving to this one I would recommend you save your money and stick with those. This isn’t much of an upgrade in my opinion. Just seems like a way to charge money with a subscription service for minimal effort when I don’t care for anything new in this app. TL;DR If you don’t have access to the previous versions then this is fine. If you have the previous versions stick with that or not ... Up to you. I’m still happy with Pro.Version: 3.3.2

Buggy softwareI have yet to get a response for well over a month and several emails to support. Lon go story short, this software is buggy. When I match two beets at the same tempo, the loop starts to slip. I am then forced to used sync, sync then has trouble staying at the tempo as well and starts to scew the sound. This has been going on for well over a month. These are songs I own, not streaming. It made my first set since the pandemic very challenging and you can here the screwing in the recording. Does anyone work for tris company? Can anyone give a response? I’ve sent video, photo, and audio proof. Either that or this is such an issue they haven’t been able to find time to respond. I’ve reinstalled hardware, restarted my devices, tried on a laptop instead of a tablet. All the same issue. Bought my Mixon 4 specifically for this program. Does try the same in my DDJ 200, same with no controller attached. Therefore this is a development issue. This software is supreme otherwise. If they can’t fix that issue it’s basically impossible to do a set. I would hold off purchasing this software until the developer fixes the issue..Version: 3.6.6

New interface not greatI love this app been using DJAY 2 for years and it’s great. But the new interface means you can no longer have the view waveform and the song/playlist in full screen view. New Interface is cluttered and not great. Need to provide the option to view the Interface as it was in DJAY 2. I won’t be updating.Version: 3.8.9

Feels good, on the whole.I’ve used most of the more popular software programs. This for me is better than them, but lots of little things still to do to make it right. While using it through iOS on my iPad and picking tracks from Tidal it cuts some options when in landscape mode. Well, at least one. I wanted to use the match feature. In portrait mode that possible, but not in landscape. Which is odd as landscape has a wider aspect, so has more room to line the options up. Strange and very annoying as I use it in landscape more often. Also, I really wish it had Bandcamp integration. That’s my main source of music. So I have to download into files, then find them through there. It’s not as quick as that sounds at all. Having it integrated like Tidal, Music, SoundCloud, beat port and so on would be a huge bonus. The functions are good, Nuero mix is definitely more of a gimmick though. It’s fun, but doesn’t often sound good enough for quality mixing. But yeah, it’s fun to mess around with at home..Version: 4.1.9

Fine apart from the pop up for pro subscriptionI suspect this app is just total overkill for what I wanted it for, i.e. playing some jazz music to a local dance scene on an unpaid for basis. The twin deck arrangement is very good for lining up the next track, as opposed to just using the ‘play next’ feature on ITunes. However, having installed it, I keep getting a pop-up about paying a subscription for pro features that I don’t need and would never use. On that basis, I’ll probably end up deleting it and just using ITunes or an equivalent. Oh well, nice try!.Version: 4.1.10

My review of this app over the yearsTo the developers of this app, I want to say a big thank you for coming up with one of the best mobile dj apps of all time ( djay 2 ). I have been using djay 2 for years and I came to master all of it before the new version which now comes with the subscription. I will ask that certain issues be addressed with the app. I honestly prefer the older djay 2 over the new one because of how simple and well placed the entire app was made. My only concern over the years was how sound output distorts when you lock the key and increase the tempo of any particular song. It’s very identical to that of virtual dj which is very bad. Serato does this key lock thing so well. I’d be more than happy if the developers found a way to push the best of sound output from this app as much as possible. Thanks.Version: 3.0.4

COME ON WHAT IS THIS SUBSCRIPTION CRAP!!!Update: Well I finally heard back on my first review — 9 months later... Personally that tells me that not only has the product changed to an unreasonable subscription model but the developers don’t even care enough to read the feedback regularly... Probably trying to figure out where they went wrong - no one buying your product? Maybe because it’s a subscription based product. Original Review: One more product I am dumping because the company decided that making money was more important than servicing their products. I have the previous version (which I will no longer upgrade for fear that it will get broken and then lose support) and it is fine. All these companies think that they can charge monthly money for apps and it is just garbage - people are not made of money and don’t want to pay forever for an app... I say either go back to a purchase price or lose more customer... What’s better $40 you get and it is yours, or $60 per year that I’m not giving you and a lot of other people won’t either... Seems like everyone is trying to nickel and dime the consumers with their “in-app purchases” or “subscriptions”... At least with IAP I get to choose whether things are worth it to me - and I can buy them and then THEY ARE MINE... I’m done... Not buying these subscription apps ever again....Version: 3.2.3

Cue point Juggling and Sync -still a no goI really would activate my subscription if the app could sync properly & have the ability to juggle cue points (and stay in sync). The songs slow down or speed up quickly as if someone is moving the platter with some finger touches. It gets messy. I’ve tested this without a controller. The original TDJ is truly the bench mark for this. Djay nearly has all the bells and whistles.... Also, lI don’t see why the cue points and loops page can’t be merged into one. The boxes are huge, so much wasted space. You just want it on the same page for quick dj access. Swapping boxes all the time is a pain. And, where are the track recommendations? Not track match. On a positive note, auto track gridding is very good. Looking forward to the updates..Version: 3.3.2

Legal changes gutted the appAll streaming integrations removed. Stealth change not in patch notes. DO NOT Support.Version: 4.1.10

Started Out GreatI have been a long time supporter of this app, even after they switched to a subscription model. However, the software is becoming so crowded with features it is hard to use the app to dj from track to track and quickly find what I need to “work” my mixes. In addition, the more they add the further Djay loses sight of the basics. A great example is the massive lag between the beat grid displayed and the sound played - the track marker for the beat being played does not line up with the sound coming out of the iPad. I would expect this perhaps on older hardware but not on a new 12.9” iPad Pro with 1TB of storage. I implore you to resolve this issue at it makes mixing live impossible for accuracy and forces the use of the sync button which sometimes takes a beat or two to align the tracks. Additionally it would be nice to see an option to display or hide features and components to regain valuable real estate. Finally, please please add a feature to number the tracks in a playlist as this is extremely useful for setting up shows, returning to a visible order after sorting or editing, etc. Keep up the good work, but please fix the basics before shooting for the moon..Version: 3.7.5

DisappointingSo, I have had Djay since it released in December and the older Djay 2 on my phones since around 2016 - And I gotta say, there is some changes that I like, and some I do not. Firstly, when buying the “PRO Access” for “82% off for previous members” - Which is a year for £9.49, I was happy I have to say. But this is where there are downfalls. I downloaded all the packs you get with the Pro version, everything works fine, apart from one thing... The Video Mixer!! I do not know what the issue is, I have a relatively new iPhone 8 (64GB) still with 20GB left to use, but it is just faulty on this app. I have seen videos of it working fine, but those are all on IPad, and I am also disappointed by the removal of “Single” and 2Track (Different from Classic) on the iphone version. If these are not issues experienced by many others, if you have one, please try with an iPhone 8. This issue is annoying, and should not be occurring on an app like this that normally costs £58 P/Y (If you do monthly). All in all, I am disappointed by this app, it used to be great. I have no bias or any relations to any form of reviewing forum, this is just a consumer’s personal opinion. Overall 3/5 Stars.Version: 3.0.7

Not used for freeTo be honest I’d prefer this app to be without purchases rather than the djay pro because I’m on a unprofessional dj so I try to make the best I can. Unfortunately there are required purchases to actually get the best dj experience especially because this offer may be false which is very disapointing. To sum it all up, I think that this is not good without the djay premium and because of that, you need to make this a free product..Version: 3.1.7

Not fully compatible with Kontrol S3Purchased Djay Pro to use with a Traktor Kontrol 3 as the device is listed on the developer’s website as being natively supported. Unfortunately the lights surrounding the jog wheels do not work, so you have no clear indication which deck you are controlling. Emailed support but have received no response as to whether this is a feature that can be turned on by adjusting a setting within the app. Disappointing as the software has many great features, but there should be an indication on the website before you purchase that not all aspects of your controller will function as expected..Version: 4.0.6

Local Drive Apple Playlists don’t sync on iPad.I will give this a 5 star once this is fixed because the app is amazing but…..I have all my purchased music on Apple Music using iTunes match because it’s easy to make my playlists. Since they launched Apple Music support you now have a local drive on the app for all your downloaded purchased music but for some stupid reason it is only showing half my playlists from Apple even though they are fully downloaded, the Dj app can even see all the tracks under all music tab but my playlists are missing and it’s to hard to have just 1 tab for all my music. I have checked on the laptop/desktop version and there is no problem there at all. So the iPad version needs an update..Version: 5.1

If it was a real DJ, it would be mid-level-beginner.It can mix on a basic, sometimes tasteful level. It’s default phrasing isn’t very good — but that can be adjusted in the settings to make more appealing (longer transitions are generally better on the app). The transitions are well listenable though: just don’t expect to find a excellent transition — perhaps once in a blue moon, however, the transitions are rarely repugnant if the duration is 16 bars, you use its ‘match’ feature, mix out of a playlist with the same genre of songs and keep the transition setting on ‘EQ’. You can easily find repugnant transitions without these strict limits. I use the app in the gym so I can listen to my own selection of tracks [since DJ’s usually play more tracks I don’t like in a mix than tracks I do like {and I don’t like replaying much}]; furthermore, it saves me going back on my phone to change the track which ruins the flow of the workout. It’s also good as a short cut to find tracks that do go real well together [that you may have missed otherwise] and you, yourself, can go into the booth and mix them with finesse. The onboarding tutorial is notably shallow, also, with much to figure out on my own — experimenting was enjoyable though. Most other features are superfluous and not worth mentioning due to not being up to scratch for excellent listening or mixing. Finally, don’t expect to mix manually with ease or style since there are no memory or hot cue points..Version: 3.6.7

We asked for more features on Djay Pro, and this is what we get.If anyone used the previous generation of the djay series and was in fact following along with the forum, you should be aware that they were willing to add more ideas such as ableton link to djay pro. However, the devs showed up once to support it never since. Well, Now we know why. They weren’t talking on the forum because they knew that they wanted to get more money off features that were requested. It’s important to note that the djay series has been attractive because it was a one-time payment app that beat all other one-time payment djing app. This, however, defeats the trust of the djay series. Even with the 83% off for djay pro users, it’s still outrageous that you pay $9.99 for a year worth of djay, when there are better alternatives at that price range such as the soda. For those of you trying out the djay app for the first time, don’t bother with this one even if it seems very attractive. Get alternatives or the older djay pro. They are only missing a few things and often times they’re cheaper than $9.99 for a one-time payment..Version: 3.0.1

Needs Wet/Dry for FXPrevious versions of Djay have had the ability to slowly bring in the effect (Wet/Dry). The Mac version (Pro 2) has it, but I have no idea why it was left out in this version, you don’t come across as “pro” if you drop in a clucky GATE with full force, and that’s just a standard effect, dig deeper into the Djay specific effects and it’s just a mess dropping it in like that..Version: 3.3.5

Price has become too expensiveI have paid for three previous versions of this iOS app: djay2 and djay Pro iPad and iPhone, and two versions of the desktop app Pro and Pro2. I agree that developers have the right to change their pricing models but I feel that this product is no longer worth the cost. I’ve spent around $200 on your products in the past, but I won't be subscribing or purchasing any version of this product any longer. I, like most of my DJ friends use Serato or RekordBox for gigs and Djay for mucking around, trying things out on the go, this is part of the reason I feel that it's over priced..Version: 3.0.8

Impossible to test, and expensive..Impossible to evaluate this due to the constant pop-ups interrupting and emploring you to "upgrade"... to a subscription, or to pay to unlock features. I couldn't mix a single track without it interrupting. (Which is very offputting btw...). Virtually every knob, button and icon seems to have a price tag attached. I'm really not a fan of the "try free by first committing to a subscription, and cancel IF you change your mind" business model either, you should not have to actually sign up before you can evaluate it, you should be able to try, and THEN, if you decide you want it, then commit and sign up. That said, everything That I could access, seemed to work ok, I just didn't think it was a huge improvement over the older app. & Certainly not one I'd be tempted to subscribe to, for the limited use a bedroom DJ like myself would make of it. So many apps now request subscriptions rather than one off payments, that I have to be very choosy about what I buy, or all those subscriptions mount up to an unacceptable level. I guess if you used this professionally and gigged with it via a controller, then a subscription would be reasonable. But for casual users, its just too expensive..Version: 3.5.9

ImprovingFollowing the latest update I’m rewriting my review as it’s definitely improved They’ve fixed the recording format issue which was a big issue for me! It now records the wav file correctly. I’d still like an option to record 256kbps aac direct but it’s easy enough to convert from wav later. I use this with a controller, the pioneer wego 4, which works generally well, though I do find it near impossible to get beats aligned. I don’t use sync so get it all lined up nice but the tracks drift easily even when stating the same bpm. I know this is always a bit of a risk but I didn’t expect it to happen so much. I also find for stability it’s best to fully quit the app and then start again or make sure the app is quit from background. It feels like this might have something to do with controller being unplugged and then plugged back in later. If we get some further updates on stability I’ll increase rating again. Note I don’t use many of the pro features but I really like the new decks view.Version: 3.0.4
