Flashnote Derby for Positive User Reviews

Flash noteThis is a such a great game and I have learnt so much!!!.Version: 2.1.5

Great app!!This app has really been helping my daughter learn to read notes. We use this along with her piano lessons. Plus I'm trying to learn some too along the way. It's the pre-made lessons that really work for us. We'd love to have more too!!.Version: 2.1.5

Great.I am very pleased. The difficulty is easily adjusted and you can easily focus on specific notes. My younger children really like it..Version: 1.5.1

Brilliant note learning appI’ve been using with an 8yo and it’s brilliant. It could not be easier to set up and change, and the flexibility of giving responses - note name, keyboard or on a real instrument - is fantastic. In a few minutes he’d sorted out some confusion he has between a couple of notes. I’m going to start using it myself to improve my alto clef reading. A slightly more adult/less frenetic theme would be nice for that, but that’s a request rather than a criticism. Highly recommended..Version: 3.2

Great BUTThis a great app that has made piano lessons more fun for my students. I especially love the option to play the instrument. SUGGESTION: Have an option with no timer or race, just answering the notes, as some kids don’t do well being timed..Version: 3.2.2

Good appI'm an adult learning to play the piano, this app has helped me learn the keys, it's way better than flash cards..Version: 1.5.1

This is a great little app, students really like itThis app is great for creative students who need extra support reading notes, it challenges them to recall the notes fast. And it had different options including a mini keyboard. 100% Recommend to teachers..Version: 1.5.1

FlashnoteRetired an decided to learn to play the saxophone. The teacher introduced me to this app and it has really helped me to learn my notes. Never too old to learn..Version: 2.1.5

Music TeacherThis is hands down the best note naming app. It was worth every cent. I used it with my band students at school to help them learn the note names and with my beginning piano students at home. The best part about this app is being able to choose exactly what notes to quiz the student on. I haven't seen any other app that lets me do that. Highly Recommended!.Version: 1.5.1

Flashnote DerbyWhat a great app! I am a piano teacher and I am going to use this with my students this fall. I love the way you can customize what notes will be used in each race and how fast the races are run. We need more music learning apps like this one. Thanks.Version: 1.0

Excellent (also please make the reindeer theme all year round?)My piano students love this game. It’s been the best thing for really cementing the notes. One suggestion: could the reindeer theme be year-round? It’s the best one!.Version: 3.2.2

Great motivational app with potential for Further developmentI am a piano teacher and this app is great for drilling notes names in both treble and bass clef. It is very easy to customise notes for each pupils stage and the different speeds and race element is very motivational, especially for boys! I would like to see it developed to include the option of playing the notes directly onto a keyboard, which is a different but equally important skill..Version: 1.1

ExcellentMy piano student were exceedingly excited with the new Reindeer theme. This little app holds their attention and enthusiasm much better than regular "analog" flash cards. Would like some additional features, like personalized high scores for multiple users. This would add some motivation.Version: 1.5.1

Better than flash cards!Fantastic app! Love that you can choose the notes to test. Highly recommended to any beginner student and all teachers..Version: 2.1.0

Great app for learning lines and spaces!!!I am a piano teacher and currently use this app with my daughter and my students too. Their note reading is improving weekly!! Easy to select which notes we're focusing on. Can also easily flip between naming notes by letter that are found on the staff to deciding where played on the keyboard. Highly recommend this app!!.Version: 2.1.5

Increases note naming speedMy three kids all love it (ages 4, 7, 9), has improved their note identification speed..Version: 1.5.1

PianoI love this app 💖❤️ it is amazing my piano teacher and I play it together now I have it on my iPad thank you creators.Version: 3.2.2

Great App!As a piano teacher and parent, this is a great application to help learn notes on the piano. My only recommendation would be to have two octaves for the notes that fall below or above the staff..Version: 2.1.0

Well made appAs a parent of three boys and a piano teacher myself, I am very happy with this app. Customization is perfect, and video lessons are a nice addition. Thanks for a quality app..Version: 1.2

AMAZING!!!My piano students LOVE this, and it’s so fun to be able to switch between the unicorns and spaceships etc. Can’t wait for these guys to come out with more games!.Version: 3.2.2

GreatSweet app it’s awsome! But the licensing feature is pretty terrible..Version: 3.2.2

Bravo! As a music teacher, I search high and low for tools to make learning fun. This app is one of the best tools I have ever had. I have been using it already in just the last few days with my elementary age students, with great success. This program is simple, easy to figure out, and extremely effective. The students are a little resistant to using it at first, because they know it is supposed to help them learn. But after the first few "races," they are hooked and really enjoy playing the game. This app gets even better though: the videos are fantastic. For instance, I could not ask for a better video for teaching how to read guide notes. The only improvement I could possibly ask for in this app is an additional game that allows students to press a key on the keyboard that corresponds to the note they are reading. But as far as learning just the names of the notes goes, this app is perfect..Version: 1.2

FantasticIt helps with both note and keyboard recognition/speed. I have searched and searched for this one!!!! Fun and effective. Thrilled!.Version: 3.0.2

Good for drillsI bought this app to use with my piano students. Overall they like the app. It has cute graphics that appeal to children. My only complaint is that I would like for there to be a two octave span on my iPad. My kids found it confusing when F5 in the treble clef had to be played at F4 in the app when doing the treble line drill for instance. I could see them wanting to press a key an octave above the keyboard display (where the note actually resides). I don't use the keyboard since it is causing them confusion..Version: 2.1.5

Amazing App for teaching young ones!I'm teaching my 5yr old twin kids how to read music and this has absolutely been the best app to engage them..Version: 1.5.1

Great teaching toolI teach piano and the kids love it. Best part is being able to set notes you want on quiz without restrictions..Version: 2.1.5

Educational AND funVery good app! The positives: As a teacher, I love that I can tailor the parameters to what a student knows and/or needs to work on. I have used it in a few lessons already and I've seen clear improvement after a few rounds. Having the ability to email the settings to the student is a feature I would never have imagined but have already used. The "derby" itself is fun and the graphics are pretty good. You can set it to letter names, piano keys, or both. The negatives: the booing has got to go. I would never "boo" a student for making a mistake, and although older students might find it funny, it's way too harsh for young kids. This would be a 5-star review if not for the booing! Suggestions: I would like to see the treble and bass clefs extended out by an octave. I could see adding an alto clef option at some point. Finally, why isn't there an option for the jockey to be a girl??.Version: 1.5.1

App drops out...My son plays for awhile and then shuts down, very annoying, would give it 5 stars. My tablet 6th gen apple tablet is updated so this can’t be the issue...Kind regards Shayne.Version: 3.2.2

SuggestionI really enjoyed the lessons as well as the games. I wish you had one overall review & more importantly game at the end of lesson 4 in each group that summarized/combined all 4 lessons..Version: 1.2

Play It!!!If you are a student learning music or just a little rusty on your notes, this is the game to get! It helps you learn notes and is simple enough to figure everything out!!!.Version: 1.2

Perfect for learning the musical staffGreat app! I use this in private & group sessions with my students and they love it. It’s been a big help in my group lessons, and there are a lot of different levels available. Perfect for any instrument also, as it offers all 4 clefs..Version: 3.3

Love it!I use this a LOT with my piano students. I am delighted with the new option of playing the notes on the piano instead of tapping them on the screen. This is my favorite feature! Thanks for adding that. I have noticed sometimes it doesn't give an "x" if the wrong note is played. My student hit a Bb a couple of times instead of a B, and it allowed her to try again and get it right. I would prefer an "x" first time, but apart from that it's a wonderful upgrade. Keep up the good work!.Version: 3.0

OutstandingWell constructed app, clear and simple. Customize the flash cards for the notes that your class is working on makes note-naming easy and fun! My students 4-8 LOVE to try to beat their friends high scores!.Version: 1.5.1

The best music flash card app for students of all levelsI purchased this app for my piano group students & I end up using it all the time for my private piano students too. In the group setting, we race as a team. We sit around the iPad & the students take turns naming the notes. It is such a hit that they usually ask for it at every lesson. In a private lesson, I usually start lessons with a quick round of 10 or 20 flash cards while I open notebooks & generally get myself situated. I love that I can select exactly the notes that I want to drill & I can even email them to my students. The students love playing games to review their notes. The students love the reindeer background for the game. It would be great to have a Valentines one or an Easter one too (the kids would be so excited!) One little problem I have with the app is the "you lose" message & wah, wah, wah music at the end if you don't beat the other horse. My beginners use the slowest setting (walk) but often just can't beat the other horse. Maybe "good try" instead? So far, I find it most appealing to the under-12 crowd, though if you were to add an option of alto & tenor clefs, I'd definitely find a use for it with my intermediate & advanced theory teenagers :) I've tried several apps but this is definitely my go-to app for note-naming flash cards. I recommend this to all my under-10 students and recommend it as a "must-have" app for any music teacher..Version: 1.5.1

Awesome! This app is exactly what I was looking for for a quick way to learn to read music. I love that you can handpick the notes you want to be quizzed on. The only improvements I can think of would be to have a larger keyboard option on the ipad app so that you can differentiate between middle c and the other c's, etc and also the option to be quizzed on sharps and flats. Still an awesome app though and a great resource!.Version: 1.5.1

Immediate results! After only a few days u saw an improvement in my sins piano playing. The intense reviewing with notes and key options made rehearsing his note recognition fun. Great app and lessons.Version: 1.5.1

Just what I was looking for!Great app! I was looking for a fun way for my five year old to learn his piano notes. I looked through many apps, and this was exactly what I wanted..Version: 1.2

FlashnoteAmazing App…. 😘.Version: 3.2.2

Been forced to play flash note :(My piano teacher makes me use this all the time :( it works but I still don’t like it :,(.Version: 3.2.2

Great!I just discovered the informational videos and that I can tack student progress with this app! I can’t wait to try out all these features with my students..Version: 3.2

Great App for KidsThis is a simple and fun app for children. I like that every aspect of the game can be customized: speed, number of questions, and the notes. It's great for beginners. The positive reinforcement is good and it is nice that any incorrect answers are reviewed. And you can't beat the price! I really think this is a great tool. Thoughts of an 8-Year Old: I like Flashnote Derby because it helps me learn my notes. I started out slow with just a few notes and after I did good on those, I added more. Then I added notes for both hands and that was a little harder..Version: 1.1

Brilliant for younger studentsI use this mainly with my younger students as they are getting to grips with pitch reading, and works well as a great game in the classroom when my iPad is hooked up to the IWB. I really like the Christmas variation too..Version: 3.1.2

Really helpfulMade learning fun. I went from knowing no notes to being able to instantly spot all on both staves within a day..Version: 2.1.5

DerbyIt's a great game.Version: 2.1.5

Worth buyingThis app is great. Simple, straightforward. Highly recommended. BUT developers - I can never remember what it’s called and it doesn’t come up on App Store for searches such as learn to read music etc. Same for google search. You might want to look at this!.Version: 3.2.2

Great app for kids and Adults tooLove this app. I use it every night with my kids. Very easy to use and fun too. Makes learning fun the whole time..Version: 1.2

Great way to learn notes.I've known every good boy does fine since I was six, but this is the first time I've ever been able to immediately play a note just by looking at it. Very good app..Version: 2.1.5

Great for beginner music readers!I use this regularly with my beginner recorder players to help them speed up their note recognition. It is most useful because you can CHOOSE the notes you want to test them on, so it is easy to differentiate between groups..Version: 2.1.5

My piano teacher from school recommended this…My piano teacher showed me this game on her iPad and it is so nice! To be honest, as a girl who hates pink and purple more, my favourite theme is Pretty Pegasus. I just got this game today and I am IN LOVE with it! I recommend to use the listen option if you have a piano or keyboard, it helps more! Also, can you please let everyone use the Christmas one because I really want to use it, as everyone says it’s the best..Version: 3.2.2

Happy to pay for more themes!!My students LOVE this app! They ask me for it every lesson. And often ask when they will come out with more Themes. Please - I’d be happy to pay for more themes! Thank you for creating this app. Piano teachers dream come true!.Version: 3.2.2

It's Great!Does what it says it does and a few unexpected bonuses! My kids love it and I enjoyed playing it too..Version: 1.2

Absolutely great!I am a piano teacher and just love this app. You guess the note (by either touching letter or key) and if you are right your horse moves forward. If you are quick it moves forward faster. You have lots of control: the speed, number of questions, and can select the notes you want o be tested. So with my beginners I can do just a couple of notes, with the more advanced both treble and bass any note. You can also review any mistakes. Great fun, all my kids love it!.Version: 1.5.1

Space raceMy students LOVE the space race. It’s very exciting for them and keeps them trying to learn notes so they can win!.Version: 3.2.2

ExcellentGreat way to learn the notes..Version: 2.1.5

Simple app that kids really likeI was really surprised how much my piano students like this app. It's really just flash cards with sound effects but they love playing it. Some of them liked it enough to ask their parents to buy it; at the very least I get no argument about practicing our letter names. Now maybe they'll write an app that works on steps and skips with the same game engine..Version: 2.1.5

Extremely useful application.I would like to see four additional lessons, in the next version, that will provide exercise drills on both treble and base clef combined..Version: 1.5.1

Better than the restThis app offers it all - letter names, do re mi, totally customisable notes to test. It’s absolutely brilliant and will be recommending to all my students..Version: 3.2

Exciting way to practice flashcards! My students love this app! It’s so much more fun than the old flashcards. My own 3 kids fight over who gets to do it next and they love competing to see who gets the best score!.Version: 3.2.2

Pretty cool!!I love this app, it gives you an amazing note reading confidants boost. I would rate this four out of five stars!! (Download now).Version: 3.2.2

Flash note derbyWe love this app!! Kids are learning piano and its such a fun and easy way to learn to read music. I grew up playing only treble clef on flute and now learning bass clef for piano - not sure if the kids enjoy it more than me or not!.Version: 1.2

Note Racing GameAbsolutely fantastic! Great fun learning notes!.Version: 2.1.5

ExcellentI'm 48 and just learning to read music. I've tried other flash card apps but this simple one packs in all the versatility and repetition needed to really memorize those notes..Version: 2.1.0

A lovely AppAs a piano teacher I find this app invaluable. I'm giving it 4 stars just because it would be perfect if there was the option to remove time limit and also have the internal mic listen to the piano to select correct note (like DustBuster)..Version: 1.5.1

Valuable classroom appMy students love this app. The new options are appreciated and many thanks for the Christmas theme, nice thought!.Version: 1.5.1

The best in class!Timely updates and great support. The only note reading game with style and polish! All my students love it!.Version: 3.2

Great AppFor today's connected children, this is a great App that keeps their interest. I recommend to all my students! Thanks! Looking forward to your next App. My suggestion would be Rhythm Race.Version: 1.2

Great app!The app is cute! In the next version if they could play a sound of the notes then it would be great..Version: 2.1.5

Great for Learning notesMy seven year old son enjoys playing this app! His piano teacher actually assigned it to him as part of his daily piano practicing. It is easy to use and you can specify which notes to practice..Version: 1.0
