Blink Mobile for Negative User Reviews

I can’t conceive of what person thought this was goodThe port you’re charging from isn’t even labeled. How do you spend tens of thoughts of dollars are charging hardware and then finish with this app. Legitimately insane. Thank god I figured it out after 20m because we really needed the charge, but never using these again..Version: 2.5.5

It simply doesn’t work.I’ve tried Blink several times over the years and each time it ends in frustration. From chargers not reading my phone, the app not working, the guest passcodes not working, the charger locations being wrong in the app, and the status being wrong in the app - I’m done. There was one time I got a Blink charger to work, and it was only 5kw, which charged at a rate of 12 miles per hour. I charged for nearly 2 hours and only got 20 miles, and paid $4. Long story short, I’m not paying what’s essentially gasoline prices for such a lousy service..Version: 2.5.4

Horrible app! Will leave you stranded!!Long story short, I tried to charge my EV in Athens and was left stranded after trying to charge at numerous Blink locations. While the chargers were available, the app could never initiate the charging process. Kept getting the error “Could not contact Blink servers. Try again later.” Horrible experience and incredibly frustrating. Don’t even bother trying to use their network..Version: 2.5.4

Thanks for The Anxiety! The map on your app doesn’t match the location where the chargers were when I arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport. Your app also said two chargers were available to use then that dropped to one. When I got there there were only three chargers and they were all occupied. I found a few more in the process of being installed and marked off with yellow tape, Thanks for that! I had to park my car partly blocking the parking area and took a charge plug from two cars that had been plugged in for days and I couldn’t activate any of them from the app. By this time my Leaf’s pack was down to 42 percent state of charge and there was no way I was getting home. So I had to take my car in the opposite direction away from my home 35 miles away to get to a Nissan dealership so I could use their fast charger to charge the car that by this time was down to 29 percent. I got it up to 88 percent state of charge in 30 minutes. I’m done with your app and will be uninstalling it. Thanks for the panic attack!.Version: 2.4.11

App inconsistentThe first time I used it, everything worked fine. The second time, I’ve been trying to charge for over two hours but the app will not connect to the charging station. Wish I’d brought my card with me..Version: 2.4.11

You’d be better just not charging your carI’d give zero stars if I could, this app could be made by a 3 year old that is deaf and blind. On top of it the charging stations don’t even work half of the time. I woke up to my car being at the same percentage of charge as I left it the night before, but somehow money was taken out of my account?.Version: 2.5.2

Owner WilsonPortland Oregon does not begin to have sufficient fast charging stations for all of us driving E cars. I have talked about this with you in the past but the problem only gets worse—stations that aren’t working, often for months, cars sitting parked at the plug-ins and aren’t E cars. It has become a very frustrating experience. People who are like me at the stations express the exact sentiments I’m stating here. I have seriously thought about selling my Leaf and joining the gas guzzlers, which I NEVER believed would happen. I’ve been a Leaf owner for almost 6 years BTW. What a doggone shame..Version: 2.4.7

No useful location informationThe one time we need to emergency charge in order to get home, we try finding a Blink charger in downtown Portland. First of all the app has a charger icon following us as we drive around trying to find one. Clicking on a charger on the map highlights it and then immediately reverts to the “closest” charger instead, so there is no way to get any information for the charger I selected. The reason I have to select a different one is because there is no information about exactly where the charger is. We outright never found several of them, likely because they’re located within buildings, including paid parking garages, yet the app gives *no* details indicating this. We even found one out in the open that wasn’t on the map at all, but the nearby valet told us it just plain didn’t work anyway. The slightest change to the map causes it to gray out and “load”, which makes basic map navigation extremely difficult. When we finally found a charger, the process of starting the charge was extremely non-obvious, with the charger saying to use a card. Turns out you have to navigate through the app and enter the unit number, which is something the charger itself could easily make clear..Version: 2.4.6

Charges you $ to sign upBlink says you can sign up for free, with no charge to your credit card, but there was no option to complete the registration process without signing up for their Pro account which charges a $10 minimum to your credit card (not just an authorization, this is now a balance on Blink I can use)..Version: 2.5.4

Junk - Everything Broken About this AppI enter my card as default, never uses the info. Still requires me to enter my Credit Card info to charge every time. Do that, never initiates the charger. Put money on a Blink card, doesn’t work with the app. Arguably the worst app I’ve come across. And I’ve seen and lead teams which develop them..Version: 2.4.11

ExpensiveCharging my car with blink was way more expensive than any other charging provider, I might as well use gas at that point for my hybrid car. You have to load money onto your account instead of just charging your card for the amount you needed to charge. I will not be using blink again..Version: 2.5.2

Bad customer service and a badly made appI got hung up on by a blink support staffer, after he told me that there were no troubleshooting steps at all for the fast charger I was wishing would work. Also FYI in the app amd on the phone “right or left?” somehow means “chademo or ccs?” That’s pretty emblematic of how lost in their own world the Blink team must be. They dictate to their users as if they’re Apple or Google, but really they’re entirely available. I deleted my account today..Version: 2.5.1

The WORST app in the storeHow does a publicly traded company have such a garbage app?! Signed up online, submitted all my info and added money to my account. You have a couple options, continue as guest and pay more, swipe your BLNK card (which you wouldn’t have yet if you just signed up) or use the app to connect to the station. You’d think the 3rd would be the smartest, NOPE! I’m signed into the app and I click on the station, it asks you to fill out you credit card information and billing information (again I’m already signed in and it’s in my account). You fill it all out and then…error. Try again…error. Try again…back to entering in credit card info. I just bit the bullet and paid the extra as a guest, which I guess in the end is what BLNK wants..Version: 2.4.11

Wow it’s hard to be this bad.Credit Card scanner in app doesn’t work. You would think they don’t actually want people to use the chargers. They have a miserable setup process. Why can’t you just pay by card. At 1 station after adding money to account it just didn’t work and I couldn’t get a charge. I have wasted a lot of time and Blink stations and have yet to be able to charge my car even once on them..Version: 2.4.11

Slow, expensive and unfriendly. It would be better if The app would show charging progress and $ charges as the vehicle is charging. The app doesn’t show progress like you can see when using ChargePoint. Road tripping, had no other option but Blink- very very slow. And the most expensive charge..Version: 2.5.2

App issuesI don’t use the Blink chargers as much as I did a while back, because I got a 220 charging station at home. However, I’ve tried to use it on 3 different occasions lately, in 3 different areas. I’ve gotten the same message every time. “We are temporarily unable to connect to Blink. “ Doesn’t seem temporary, actually. In addition, today the cc card scanner wouldn’t work. (I tried 2 different cards) so I had to enter my cc info manually, first. Only to get the same message and not be able to get a charge. Needless to say, I had a few choice words at that moment..Version: 2.4.11

Doesn’t workI couldn’t get this to work. The signup process produced multiple errors, but appeared to work. I still couldn’t get the app to work with a charging station, and I just got an email asking me to finish signing up. I have no idea if I’m a member or not now and I don’t have a whole lot of interest in working with the developer to figure it out..Version: 2.4.11

Facebook registration feature nonfunctionalOriginally registered on the website, using facebook. Entered all of my information, including payment info, only to get a "bad request" message on the final screen when it tried to authorize via facebook. Didn't get any confirmation email, and the app similarly won't let me log in via facebook (just gives me an "invalid credentials" message). Now been on hold for customer service for the past 10 minutes. This is garbage..Version: 2.1.1

Pitiful Customer CareI signed up with blink to be able to charge my car while we were on vacation, only to find out that every charging station in town (6), had Non-EV cars parked at all the locations. Nearby hotels allowed their guests to use them for hotel parking. I contacted Blink Network customer service and received this response: "You will have to take this issue to the location, we do not instill punishment for non EV vehicles being in EV Charging spots." This is the most pitiful response I could have ever received..Version: 2.1.1

Crap never works!!The system was being updated and all the technicians went home before their job was complete. That’s like the gas station not opening because they had to go home had better things to do. If you are going to be a charging station you have to put your customers first. To leave someone stranded with no way to charge their car is simply unacceptable. You guys are the worst..Version: 2.4.5

Avoid if possible… App is brokenSo I downloaded the app to get a blink card and sign up/manage my account. The app doesn’t show how much electricity it’s put in your car, just sticks at N/A the whole time. My car did get some charge because I saw the battery percentage go up in my car’s app. It also couldn’t activate a charging session even though I had 4 bars LTE. I had to call customer service to start a charge. Even though the app said I’m a blink member, the station also said it charged me the guest rate, so there’s that too... If my battery wasn’t low, I’d’ve just said screw it and skipped charging because of this app. The pricing (at least where I am) is theoretically pretty good, but I can’t know for sure because the app says it didn’t charge. A functional kWh added gauge would make this app better, but I’ve yet to find that on the status screen..Version: 2.3.2

WT?This app is worthless! Slow to load (and no it’s not my Wifi or 5G), does not navigate to my current location, does not recognize its own Blink charging locations, doesn’t sync with my card ... Was there ANY quality assurance with this app or were you just trying to push out a bad product? The website worked fine but don’t offer discounts to regular users if they can’t sync regular use to the app profile! Surprised this even passed Apples App Store standards, completely useless. I want my bandwidth and time I wasted using this app back!.Version: 2.4.11

Worst EV Charging Experience EverThat’s not hyperbole, Blink has the worst charging experience ever. With every other app like ChargePoint or EVGo you simply hold your phone to the charger and start charging. Blink chargers don’t recognize the Blink app. It’s like everything associated with Blink was rolled out with the intention of “we’ll fix all this bad stuff later.” I mean did you guys invest anything in field testing? That’s a rhetorical question because the answer is obviously “NO!”.Version: 2.5.0

Arguably the worst app ever createdIt never worked. Network error all the way. No matter what internet connection I use, it always give the same error message. I cannot see the charging stations right in front of me in the app, I cannot sign up account, I cannot continue as guest, I just cannot do anything at all. This is worst than a useless app, this shouldn’t even be considered an app..Version: 2.4.5

WorthlessSigned up, received card, had to activate, took forever to even get it going. Had to call in. Then, tried to use it and found many of their stations have awful screens are are broken. Too expensive. Finally tried the pay station and it charged me 1.24 for no power. Get this, it’s not how much you get, it’s time. How stupid is that? Connected and got 0kwh for 1.24. Then my card on the account expired and they hassled me for 1.24 and told me they gave me power. Which they did not. Even my account reflects that. What a petty, stupid company. Just use chargepoint and find a free station. My opinion..Version: 2.1.1

Only shows map; any account access errors outTrying to access my account only results in error: “There was a problem: we’re temporarily unable to connect to Blink…”But reading previous reviews seems like this problem is permanent!.Version: 2.4.11

Worst App EverDespite being a member, I have to type out my entire credit card and home address information to start charging. If there aren’t funds in my account, instead of using the credit card information *the app just forced me to type out* I have to call Blink on the phone, have a human press a button to add funds to my account, then read a serial number off the side of the charger so customer service can start a charge remotely and I can actually use the service. Six months and still no card in the mail. Blink is bad enough I wish I’d stuck with gas..Version: 2.5.1

App is broken and the machines are in disrepairLike others, I downloaded the app, set up and account, signed in, and put money in the account. Whenever I do anything on the app I get ‘temporarily unable to connect to Blink. please try again later.” I get this message even just trying to look at my account profile. I deleted the app and re downloaded and signed in again, same problem. The machine I was using had a miscalibrated touchscreen too, so it took me awhile to figure out how to work around that problem. After twenty frustrating minutes, I was able to charge by re-entering my credit card info manually. I have no idea whether the charge ended up coming out of my account funds or a new charge, since the app doesn’t work at all. Pretty much nothing about my experience with the company, app, or charger went as it should have..Version: 2.4.11

Awful, terrible, horrible.I received error messages on the charger after following the instructions to create an account on the app and add money to begin charging. I had to call blink to learn that this particular station was permanently disabled. The agent I spoke to bizarrely blamed the property owner for the station still being on. I have a Tesla so I rarely have to use third party, non-Tesla chargers. More often than not, there is some sort of issue. This is just the latest and greatest. Do yourselves a favor and think twice before you buy an EV that will require you to use blink or other inferior car chargers..Version: 2.5.6

Please add Apple Wallet feature for InCards!I love this app and works very well. But having to take my wallet out and then take out the card can be a hassle when I trying to park and charge quickly. If I could add my InCard to my Apple Wallet app (like every other credit/debit card I have) the system would be much faster!.Version: 2.4.7

This isn’t itI am an investor — my friend just told me about this stock. I had noticed some blink charging stations near me and I believe in testing a product/company if I can before buying a stock. Well this app is broken and horrible. Didn’t even display the charging stations. Then when I tried to charge my car, the system was completely buggy and didn’t work. Even the system for complaining didn’t work. Maybe it will work better when I receive the card in the mail, but based on this experience I don’t have faith in this stock. It’s a pass!.Version: 2.4.11

Any notification /email this app sends is incorrectEvery time I get an email or notification, they are completely wrong! What's your quality engineering department doing? When it says "done charging", the car is still charging. Even the battery status of the car doesn't match your app. And when I try to submit your app's contact form, your app detects the location but than throws an error.Version: 2.1.1

Cannot connect to server“There was a problem We’re temporarily unable to connect to Blink. Please try again later.” …seriously? Is no one QAing the mobile able. Had the app for 3 months and can only do anything through the web. Come on guys fix your app if you want people to use it. Only reason I have this is for the units at work. Beyond those you have ZERO Public ones in my area..Version: 2.4.11

App/software payment are non-functional. Full stopThere is a Blink charger near a hotel I often stay at. You can’t start a charging session without needing to call technical support. Payment at the charger does not work. Payment using the app does not work, as location services are broken and the app does not think I am near a charger. Embarrassing display from a company that is supposed to be on the cutting edge..Version: 2.5.6

Use better error messages! The error for an invalid payment method is just “could not communicate with Blink network” which is not helpful at all. Please use more descriptive error messages to empower your users to fix problems themselves more effectively. Once I had all the payment info correct everything magically worked…guess it wasn’t an issue with the actual network communication haha. Please fix your error messages!.Version: 2.5.5

App needs serious workThe difference between Blink and ChargePoint apps are night and day. Blink does not even have the full google maps API.... so you can’t even search by names of places. Also - wishing you could see basic real-time info such as how many KWHs have been added. You can’t even enter in your vehicle info, so no estimates on miles added. Most Blink stations in my area have broken screens so you have to wait 25 seconds for the countdown to make sure charging starts. I gave two start because it works.... I guess.....Version: 2.4.2

Most Blink Chargers Are Out Of OrderMost of the Blink chargers in my area of DFW are out of order, or in some cases just missing altogether. I see a charger on the Blink map, then I drive to it, only to find that it is defunct. I have reported stations that are broken, and the Cust. Svc. Rep. said they were "waiting on parts", but so far after 3 months, nobody has ever repaired them. Perhaps the best thing would be for this company to just throw in the towel, close the doors for good, and stop trying to mislead everyone..Version: 2.1.1

Update brokenI am now unable to charge my car because the phone app says it’s’ temporarily unable to connect to network’ - including trying to check account. Hopefully an update will fix this..Version: 2.5.4

This is a scamTried for a second time to get this working at Ikea in Renton, WA. They make you add money to the account before you can start using it...and then, of course, the service is never actually accessible. I'm sure someone from the company will reply with a bunch of hoops to jump through to "fix" the issue, but this service should work before they start demanding money up front. Classic scam. Don't fall for it..Version: 2.4.11

ClunkyThis app is so clunky to navigate. When you search for a location by city and state, all chargers east of the Mississippi show up. I searched for Norwalk, CT, and Ducktown, TN comes up as my first choice. You must then zoom zoom zoom in to find your state on the map. Then you must individually cycle through the pins near your city to figure out where these chargers are located, and if they are in use or not. Once you find the charger and plug in, the app works fine. Though it doesn’t remember any ‘favorite’ or ‘recent’ stations. You have to go through Ducktown every time. There has got to be a better way..Version: 2.5.4

App is ok. Network is too expensive. Why are Blink stations so expensive? In California they are $0.49/kWh as the member price! ($0.59/kWh if not a member). I use these stations as a last resort, not my first choice. Many of the stations I find are not in good condition. Many of them the touch screens don’t function so you have to use the app. The app is usually just fine for activating stations without RFID card but the prices are not competitive with other brands..Version: 2.4.2

Pathetic — Same problems never get solved…If you read the reviews from this last week, the comments and issues are the same from six months ago - which were the same problems from a year+ ago… terrible. I only signed up to have one more plug-in option since there are so many EVs in LA now. But what’s the use if the app always gives an error message and the stations don’t work properly… Get your act, together, Blink….Version: 2.4.11
