Forger Classic for Negative User Reviews

Needs updating but still not badDecent app for an IPad.Version: 1.6.50

Bad App ! Crashes on start upDownloaded this app and it crashes every time I click new ... Delete & reinstall ... Same thing !.Version: 1.3.5

Nice app but add-on doesn’t workI paid for painting as well as the app itself. The app is okay but the new update has nerfed the already broken painting option. I’ve been trying for 2hrs now. The forums directions do not work. Update: it’s still nerfed. I’ve read your documentation..Version: 1.6.31

DisappointedNot great for the price tag, not very user friendly and camera is a nightmare to control..Version: 1.6.40

CrashesNot useable if it keeps crashing and you lose your progress. Shame because I quite liked it.Version: 1.5.4

Great program for a specific useNot what I was after so deleted but a good program for modelling for free form but not a 3D modeller for product design.Version: 1.6.43

Not a very good 3D modeling appThis game is not worth it. DO NOT SPEND $10 ON THIS IT IS NOT WORTH IT. Here’s why. The moving around system doesn’t work at all for me. (Only let’s me move in and out and not around) and for 3D modeling IT IS CRUCIAL for around moving. Also the selection is pretty bad too. You can’t change the shape or re texture. You can only color it and move it around (meaning push and pull). Another thing is that you get very few tools and a very few selection of shapes you can choose. This app is NOT WORTH IT AS ALL. I would recommend to use 3D Paint in your windows pc rather than this..Version: 1.6.37

So much potential too many bugsAt first look it seems like this would be a great mobile sculpting solution. However, there are so many bugs that make it completely useless and aggravating. I'm sure it's fine if you want to dabble in the 3D sculpting realm, it's not particularly pricey, but it is most definitely not mobile ZBrush..Version: 1.5.4

Don't buy it!!It was a waste of money, it was the worst sculpting game ever!!.Version: 1.3.5

Won’t work with apple pen.Says it works with the apple pen but I can’t get it to do anything with gen 2 apple pen even after setting it to pen only. So I’ll leave this as is until it gets fixed, because I really do wanna try it..Version: 1.6.20

It’s frustrating..I want to like this app, I can see that the developer is very active in the forums but it lacks tutorials and almost every single obj. File I try to import, errors. If you don’t have 3rd party software to fix the errors then you can’t import it..Version: 1.6.44

Waste of time! Can’t seem to load any of my models as the app always seems to have a issue, I thought this app my be useful to edit models on the screen but have just returned to zbrush on my Mac, you couldn’t do any real work with this. Feel like I wasted my money, ok for a bit of fun while watching tv but no way near a professional program. Wish I could get my money back!.Version: 1.7.1

TerribleBeen sculpting something for hours only to have it disappeared without warning. Wt...?!.Version: 1.7.1

Lots of functionality, but stylus doesn't workFirst, the app has an amazing arsenal of built-in functionality that I almost feel like I am using Zbrush on iPad. However, it has a rather clumsy UI, and a major bug with stylus: I bought this app over Autodesk's 123D, mostly because of its ability to support (or supposedly support) the Wacom Creative stylus that I have. However, the app simply crashes when one clicks on the Wacom button in the preference menu with bluetooth on, no matter how many times I tried or reinstalled the app. I've already deleted the app, and hope that the author can come up with a solution and hold on to his promise of supporting the stylus. Hope this is only a problem with iPad Air 2 or iOS9, instead of a major glitch that the author himself forgot or didn't bother to fix..Version: 1.4.7

Completely unusableNot even worth a free app, no where near worth 3 quid I'll be getting my money back.Version: 1.5.4

Has potential, if only...Forger has a dreadful UI, not well thought out at all, but it has a good 3D engine and useful sculpting functionality. A couple tips for the developers: - Make rotation and panning camera controls a modal option. Multitouch trips camera movement too easily. - Get rid of redundant UI along the tab bar, and use menu nav by itself. - make sculpt, camera movement, object select & movement discrete modes (three icons in a row).Version: 1.3.4

Should be a great app...Spent hours making a very complex head sculpture, saved it, loaded it back in and got an awful, simplified, crude version of it back. Ridiculously frustrating! Awful. Time completely wasted. This app has all the makings of something incredible but it simply is not....Version: 1.5.4

Not good...Gave this 3 stars on first impressions but have had to amend it having used the vastly superior (and free) 123D Sculpt on iPad. I'll admit that I've used with Z-Brush with a Wacom tablet and certainly didn't expect Forger to be anywhere near as amazing as that, but I was hoping for something that's at least useful for accurate sketching. User interface is clean but manages not work, the toolset is limited too but that would be ok if the tools actually worked well, but most of them seem to barely have any affect. Maybe I'm just using it wrong but the interface isn't helping. I'd be able to work around the problems if it wasn't for the low model resolution, you just can't get any detail which makes the app little more than a toy - the chimp model shown in the screen shots is almost certainly an imported model rather than something created from scratch with the app. £1.99 isn't a fortune, and would be acceptable if the results were at least a decent 3D sketch but the results of this app give a model comparable to some you'd make from playdoh whilst wearing boxing gloves..Version: 1.2.4

Needs more dev time and refinement.Forger could be a great little portable sculpting app, if it wasn't for the large volume of bugs, and general flakiness in the interface. In short this app is not very useful for anyone serious about CG sculpting, hopefully the problems will be sorted in future and the feature set expanded. I can't for the life of me find the import tab shown in the screen shots. It would be great to do base sculpts on the move for work, so I hope the dev manages to make some improvements, as Forger has the potential be a 5 star app. Bugs/Fixes/Suggestions as follows on an Ipad2 16gb os 5.1.1: 1: Brush sliders stick and then reset to zero. 2: When subdividing, then deleting all lower subs, the mesh becomes corrupt. 3: The shortcuts seem to be intermittent or non functional, either way they don't appear that intuitive in their arrangement or the way they work. Check out the controls in procreate and sketchbook pro. 4: Camera controls are decent, but it would be nice to have the view movement toggle on a button so you can spin the view with a stylus rather than have to put fingers all the over the view. Also means you don't have to pause as long when sculpting, its really important to be able to change view quickly as in any 3d modeler. 5: Basic UV seams and Texture Painting. Would be nice :) 6: Ambient light (is that in there already?)and a second back light. At the mo, default lighting doesn't cut it. 7: A Nicer surface shader, something with fresnel/rim light would be good. Makes it easier to see the contours of the mesh. 8: Soft Shadows (now that is a wish on this hardware!).Version: 1.3.0

A great program, effected by a wonky file system...Really love this program. Easy to sculpt on an iPad with a pencil. But it’s really diminished by the file system. It’s not intuitive and needlessly hard to do certain things. I’d love to see you adopt a standard iPad file system or something similar..Version: 1.6.33

Can't access the home menuHalf the time none of the tools are being selected when I touch them and the home button does not work....Version: 1.4.11

Thank youWhen will it be fixed?.Version: 1.3.5

Useless. If I could rate this experience zero, I would. Not intuitive. Hogs up memory. Apple didn't want to refund. I've never had a problem getting refunds from Apple (something I've seldom needed to do). So I'm double ticked off. I'm using Blender on my laptop successfully, so I expected Forger to be great just because it's an Apple app. So much for expecting high standards consistently. Apple needs to give me back my money. Developer was nice. But he can't refund. Apple can but won't..Version: 1.6.37

DisappointedReally good idea not very user friendly, I made a good 3D model of on of my characters however the app really seems to work against you when your being creative the movement can be some what perplexing and don’t even bother try to have two 3D models on the same page as the app will separate them infinitely (well it felt that way) and if I am using the app wrong having better tutorials rather than an instruction manual would probably improve the app by 90%.Version: 1.6.18

It’s good butI have been flip flopping between forger and nomad sculpt. I have purchased both now. I started with forger and love it but I have run in to some issues. There is no way to subtract so creating let’s say a triangle shape for a shark fin is so much work. You will need to start with a cube flatten it and then sculpt it in to shape. An other option is to add clay pull, smooth and then remesh. I have purchased Nomad sculpt now and it has the possibility to subtract. Time to step up the game forger. If not people will step over like I did..Version: 1.7.8

Yup, it's really ZBrush! The future has arrived in my mere pocket. The Retina display makes this possible. Even has subdivision levels. Brushes fully adjustable. I want to add exclaymation marks to these sentences. The modifier buttons offer two handed or careful two finger quick smoothing and even lighting direction change to highlight your relief area better. BUG: zoom with two fingers is funky. Hardly works. The Home button helps get me a useful view at least. The quick tutorial shows three fingers seemingly on the wrong command. Needs a maintenance update. Works on iPhone 6s iOS 10.1.1 despite this zoom hassle. Ah, zoom works better when I really move two fingers out drastically, so there's a threshold effect for this action. I'd prefer immediate fine control. Also, it's quirky enough that brush action kicks in as I'm just trying to zoom as one finger lifts off before the other. Please fix this utter deal killer. Other 3D apps have no such problem. I can't zoom in and out as I work and having to undo massive damage destroys my flow state of just sculpting. Even toy level app iDough readily does zoom/rotate simultaneously without invoking a brush. BUG: double tapping to keep the smooth brush down invokes the rotation locking modifier. BUG: the rotate gumball tool disables view rotate, meanly..Version: 1.5.4

It's... fine.I have had no prior experience to working with 3D before working with this app. It is fun to use, when not frustrating. Last night I had spent an hour working on something, and I needed a break so I decided to save it. After opening back up, my work was just... gone. Was really bummed. It is also a bit hard to get things in the shape that I want without creases and such that are nearly impossible to get rid of. Though, that may just be my inexperience..Version: 1.6.43

Very cool! Not a Zbrush replacement though :(This app is very cool and has a lot of great features for 3D sculpting. Needs a better retopo operator and/or manual quad drawing tool. Would be sweet if the devs added in usdz support that could be used directly with some 3D scanning features that take in tru-depth data for scanning and sculpting!.Version: 1.6.30

Well.... not really usefulI own an iPad Pro and unfortunately when you want to sculp something more serious, you get a Ram limit alert. So if you want to experiment something to export probably on zbrush... probably is ok, but do not expect to do too much on an iPad....Version: 1.6.42

Mixed Feelings - Do Not Buy (Amended Review)*update* - This program can’t even keep basic symmetry on the models when you sculpt. Even if it was free and even for casual use this is just not usable. Laughably bad. Save your money. - Bought this because it was hailed as a good alternative to Zbrush. I did see alot of negative reviews complaining about problems with the app and the reps firing back saying reviewers were just wrong and stupid (arrogant toxicity is never a good sign). I decided to give it a go anyway, on the off chance the reviews were not representative and if it might be something I can use for mobile work when I’m away from home. The UI is pretty bad but not impossible to use. Sculpting tools are standard. Primary issues are the UI and lack of ability to control files and set up features for base scene elements, which you can in other programs and is fairly important for any remotely professional\useable work. There are also occasionally very annoying bugs. That being said, if you just want to mess around - this is fine. Otherwise probably best to use a free alternative..Version: 1.6.37

So closeThe sculpting engine is really nice and it's the closest to zbrush I've found. But there are so many bugs. The settings drawer once active, stays open. How do we chose this? Also the model can become inactive and I didn't see the option to choose the canvas. Please continue support for this!!! Could be so good. I love the touch navigating and sub dividing. Please contact me I would love to help you keep this going..Version: 1.5.4

HelppppppHi I just started using the app and have figured out the basics. But for some reason it won’t let me put clay in some places , it just goes all spiky ... I have also been having issues with the grid as it is split into triangles covering the whole model however in some places the triangles are huge and it won’t let me draw on clay in those places , so I can’t get any detail or anything.... I’m disappointed since It looked good in the YouTube video and they didn’t have these issues .... I payed £10 of my birthday money for this and it’s being all buggy. I’m not angry I’m just annoyed, please could you help (I sent a message to your official Instagram).Version: 1.7.18

Needs the use of paintsGood app but its constantly crashing on me, I'm up to date with the latest ios to. Please fix this problem!.Version: 1.2.4

UpdateThis is one of the best sculpting softwares out there- the update has created a bunch of setbacks. Things are getting stuck, certain menus won’t open etc. Def not operating smoothly in UI/UX. Needs work there, and we need quick fix for the stuff the update tossed off. Second, where is the option to turn the grid off? We need a simple single button that allows us to toggle the background grid on and off. I no longer see the grid options in the settings. Also after the update the software is not picking up Apple Pencil input well, and the global pressure curve should most definitely not reset every time we reopen the software. The global curve needs to saved to whatever we set it at so it does not go back to where it was every time we open to work. If you guys get this stuff fixed you have a fantastic software- and really the only software for IOS that is a pro grade sculpting software. However, these performance and UI setbacks are big. Must evolve your development and UI skills to a new level..Version: 1.6.3

UI so bad can’t EVEN USE ITI swiped into the settings by accident and am STUCK ON IT. THERES NO EXIT BUTTON..Version: 1.6.19
