Night Sky for Negative User Reviews

Our galaxy is amazing 🤩It an good app to star 🌟 gaze but it’s nothing like how I thought it was going to be. I’ve had it before and I loved it but I restarted my phone so it got deleted I think that it was updated and changed but to be honest there’s to many star 💫 that no one knows about and does not want to know about.Version: 8.5.2

What happened?!F me. 5th time ive had to rewrite this because apple cant sort their lives out. This app used to be very basic but really useful. It was perfect, nothing overly fancy and did everything you could need it to. Now its all shiny and exciting but impossible to use and void of any information. And of course riddled with adverts and chargeable upgrades. I get that people will buy into anything if you make it sparkly enough but why remove useful content when youve already gone to the effort of collating and uploading it all? And whats with constantly trying to track my every move when all you need to know is which hemisphere and continent im on while im stargazing? Looks like this is just another in a long line of apps designed to spy on you for money..Version: 10.5.1

I paid for this and now it’s a subscription?I paid for this app a few years ago, I go back to it every now and then but not frequently enough to warrant a subscription! Why do I need to keep paying for an app I would use once every few months? Not impressed. The app itself was great but I have no idea anymore seeing as the subscription screen is blocking access to everything. No, I don’t want to sign up for a free month and then £1.99 per month reoccurring charge in order to use the app I already paid for..Version: 5.4

UI makes it impossible to filter out clutter for casual userThis app has some nice features, but the view of the sky is always cluttered with overlapping constellations, satellites (especially Starlink satellites), and numerous other objects. It’s not easy or obvious how to filter stuff out. For the casual user it’s a bit of a nightmare. I only use the app occasionally, so I’m always relearning the UI. I imagine this is an excellent app for regular users, but every time I use it I always find myself bumbling around in the dark trying to figure out how in gods name I can hide all the extraneous stuff. They should really make it more obvious. Also, the last time I tried to use the app (July 2022) it kept freezing up on me after a few minutes..Version: 10.5.1

Too complicated.Liked the old version. Place your iPad in the sky and everything is labeled. Now there is so much to decipher I would rather not use the app.Version: 6.4

Nice app but a little confusing to useUpdate. I started using sky guide and it is must easier to use. If you just want an app to show you what is in the sky that is a good app. Night sky is too complicated. I think I like this app but it is a little confusing to use. First it doesn't seem to reflect the actual sky. For instance, when I point it at Ursa Major it doesn’t show it exactly where it is in the sky. So, I am never sure what I am looking at when I look at the actual sky. It is like it just shows a map of the sky and isn’t really showing me the actual sky. I tried to use the sky blending but I can’t figure out how it works. The tutorial is lacking. I would like to see more explanation of each feature in the help section. Also in the preferences, there is no explanation of what each option is. For example, what does it mean if I enable the “moon” preference? I saw in one of the reviews the developers said to use the compass align to fix the view of the sky. I tried that but how does it work? What does the + or - degrees mean? More explanation is needed. I want to just point it at the sky and see exactly what I am pointing at be reflected in the view. I have had this app for years but just picked it up again. The older version was much simpler and more accurate..Version: 6.4.1

Sad day when nobody will support youI have had this app for a long time. The other evening when i witnessed a celestial event i wanted more details so i went in to Night Sky and it didnt even mention the conjunction which was a let down. But then it offered a free trial for theb plus subscription. So i clicked ok thinking maybe it was an upgrade feature. But then it tried to charge me right away. Now apple wont cancel a pending charge and i dont have $40 extra to pay for the app which still didnt mention the event which was visible with the naked eye and im being charged. I cancelled the subscription As soon as i realized and Apple wont do anything and the apps website says they arent able to either. Im disappointed in what used to be a very immersive and amazing app, and very disappointed in apple Support.Version: 11.4.1

Cool but glitchyNot used it for long but one thing I noticed straight away is a bug with the alerts. When I get an alert about something being visible, like one of the iridium satellites, and I click on the alert to open the app, I get the pesky SIGN UP NOW screen, and then when I dismiss it the object I opened the app for in the first place is no longer being tracked, and of course the alert has now disappeared in iOS, so I just close the app disappointed....Version: 6.3.4

App is great, but… I need my money back!I paid for this years ago, a significant premium. However you have now changed to a subscription charging model and asking me to subscribe to continue. Restore purchases does not work! Either pay my money back or allow me full access..Version: 8.5.2

RubbishSo. I was looking for a good time. And this did NOT deliver. the calibration was not an option i was looking at the moon right above me and the app said it was underneath me. absolutely horse bullocks 🤬.Version: 10.4.3

Frustrating to useAlmost impossible to select the right object using your finger on the iPhone version. Then even more difficult to tap on the more information icon next to that object. I don’t understand why this is such a problem. I also use the free version of SkySafari and that does not have the same selection issues. I just wish I hadn’t purchased the lifetime version of Night Sky and wasted £200!!!.Version: 11.4.1

Not what I was hopping for ☹️🙁I really like to see the cosmos but when ever I touch something it makes it show me where you have to pay, and I just want to play not pay ok ☹️☹️☹️.Version: 6.4

Used to be great - now it does not work!I’ve had this App for many years (purchased way back when it was a one off payment) and found it informative and good to use. I’m a casual user and it’s bought me much enjoyment over the years. However, now it is just pointless as the App flashes open and then closes straight back down. I have an iPad Pro and the operating system is up to date. I had hoped that next time the App was updated the matter would sort itself out - it hasn’t. It is hard to recommend an App that does not work!.Version: 8.1

ReviewCan’t read the writing.Version: 8.5.2

Subscribe or forget it.A great app with significant detail and great graphics, but I am going to delete it and look for something else. There are two problems. First, if you live in an area with moderate light pollution, the app is too detailed but not accurate enough when aiming your phone skyward to determine anything not identifiable by being in a constellation. For instance, I can see Vega but not the surrounding stars because their magnitude is less and don’t come through the pollution; but they show up on the app. I think the app is identifying it as Vega, despite the fact I am not pointed directly at it and there are no surrounding stars for reference. The second problem is just annoying. Any time you zoom in on anything the app pops up a screen advertising the “premium” annual subscription- which is costly. This pops up so frequently the app is essentially unusable. Great app if you want to subscribe and don’t live in a light polluted area. Otherwise… just an annoying gimmick to get you into an expensive subscription..Version: 10.5.1

Hardly worth itThe detail is too much for star gazing and yet not enough to find the star you’re looking for. It needs to match the sky you are seeing with the detail coming only when you zoom. And if you could search for RA & Dec this would be quite good but sadly, not worth the subscription fee..Version: 11.3

Rip off alertDo not buy this app, I payed for it around 5 years ago. It was a one time purchase. Now they started charging me 2.79 a month for it out of left field, not even sure how they are even doing this because I didn’t agree to anything. They should be sued..Version: 5.1.1

Vy canis majorisADD PLANETS THAT ARE BIGGER THAN THE SUN AND GALAXYS AND NEBULAS LIKE NGC2060 AND IC1101 PLEASE.Version: 6.4.1

Scam appDid not authorize being charged for this app. When i cancelled the subscription, i was charged anyway. Total scam..Version: 6.4.1

IssuesI used the premium version for over two years and for nine of those months, the portals did not work, I’d open it up and it would either crash or freeze on where I was creating the portal. I downgraded to the free version but then saw there was an update so again I paid for the full version. Still, all it does is crash. I’m using an iPhone XR with the latest iOS. I have absolutely no problems with any other app. I have installed and reinstalled, I’ve gone from premium to free and doctor premium. Nothing helps. It is the single most important feature in why are use this. Why am I paying for something that I literally can access. I just don’t understand can somebody please help me? I see others have the same issues but, there’s no solution.Version: 10.1

No Notice of subscription about to startNo Notice of subscription about to start.Version: 11.4.1

Ok app, with caveatsTo address the negative reviews about scam and unwanted subscriptions: it's partially true. The app will not subscribe to anything on its own, but it does frequently and intrusively present its offer at inopportune moments and someone not careful could easily agree to something unwanted. It's not on par with many other apps in that regard. Next, the calibration was way off, by about 180 degrees. In fact it couldn't be more off. Overall disappointed..Version: 11.4.1

Disappointing...I went into this app thinking, “Hey, this looks really cool,” and I then saw all of its features and downloaded it. At first glance, this app was quite the spectacle. You could zoom in and see countless stars, view satellites, and view distant constellations. But then, I saw the first problem, it very poorly lined up with the actual night sky. In other terms, it was very inaccurate. I then became very interested in the premium, so I bought a yearly subscription. I was very excited to use the new features that were unlocked such as a AR solar system and an AR planetary portal. But then, I realized both of these features were poorly implemented. The portals glitched and the solar system was very glitchy as well. At the end of the day, I think this app desperately needs improvement in order to match the expectations you set for me in the preview. So please, developers, please try to implement the features promised better..Version: 7.0.1

Great app, annoying “reminders”I really love the app. I use it at least once a week. My one and only complaint is that the app asks me every time I start it up if I want to upgrade. No. I do not want to f’ing pay for the upgrade. *edit* What kind of response is that from the developer? I am well aware the paid services offered. My issue is that the app offers these paid services too often. I would love to turn the app on without having to decline the paid services. When I’m outside using it, I usually have my telescope with me. I’ll find what I want to look at with the app, then put my phone on my pocket. When I want to move on to a different object, I open phone, and am asked if I want to pay for an upgrade. Every single time. I understand you have to advertise the paid services but it is a bit much. It’s as if you did not read my initial review and did the exact thing that I have a problem with... advertise the paid services..Version: 6.4.1

It’s cool but you have to pay eventuallyIt’s a good app but you have to pay an arm + 1 Leg. it’s too expensive.Version: 8.4

The Saucepan on your heads!I bought Night Sky Pro, in good faith. It no longer works. Know it seems you want an annual fee for the app. No. I would like what I paid for please. How do you decide to just reclaim something that has been paid for? For shame. Whoever your bean counter is, I hope their car stops working and must pay an annual fee to look at sitting in their garage..Version: 5.5.1

Doesn’t seem to work as advertised unless I have premiumI’m using this app for astrophotography and every time I put my finger on the screen it asks me to get premium. I zoom in and it doesn’t work, I have to zoom in three times before it registers that my fingers are moving, and then it starts asking me for premium so I try to zoom out and it does the same thing. Also whenever I try to click on something in the sky it will put me on something in a completely different spot from where I put my finger, I tried to put a marker on Mars so I could get some photos of it tonight and I’ve been sitting here for the past 6 minutes trying to do so which has lead me to writing this review. This app has amazing potential but until then I’m going to stick to maps or an app a little more reliable..Version: 11.4.1

How to change Timezone? The recent update just made it confusing and a lot of pop up messages. I am in AEDT Timezone but the app has different Timezone. Unable to find settings for Timezone. Some features such as background music seems a good feature to drain battery. Also, there is one pop up per tap now, which is annoying. Either enabling location service or subscription. Almost close to uninstall it..Version: 11.3

Not too brightI thought the app was too complicated. My kids wanted to use it for a science project and the names of stars were no where what they thought they were. For instance we are in Melbourne and the kids wanted to find the Southern Cross but your app does not list it as this so we fiddle faddled trying to find it. I had to firstly find Orion and go from there. Yeah I guess you need to be a fully fledged astronomer to use it..Version: 6.4.1

Look south?No Southern Hemisphere!.Version: 6.4

Night sky robberyI paid for this app a few years ago and have not used it much during the last year, when I re installed from my paid for apps, what a shock, they want me to pay again, why??????? Surely this is daylight robbery and extortion. Why should I have to pay again, that's like buying a car not using it for a year and starting it up and the manufacture saying you need to pay again, this is theft and Apple should be getting on to the app supplier to reinstall all paid for apps, also if you do not have an up to date iPad forget it, not happy, this realy is taking the ****.Version: 5.6

FfcvConstantly asking me if I want to go premium. I’ve been here 2 min, leave me alone.Version: 10.5.1

Missing some thingsI love this app but lately it’s not picking up everything. There is a bright object to the top left of the moon right now, in close relation visually, and it’s not registering on the app. I gave it the benefit of the doubt that the bodies showing up a little further out were it but none of them lined up with position in the sky in relation and visual proximity to the moon. The app used to be spot on. Second time in 2 months I’ve been disappointed with as many times using it. Last time it wouldn’t show me where the moon was at all when I was trying to brag about the app to friends. Next night: It was Mars. Why wouldn’t it be superimposed over one another and have something that says what it is? And when you try to zoom in to a local body you get visually flooded with our local cluster of galaxies (honestly, that’s annoying. I know it’s a combination of our galaxy with other galaxies mingled in, but help me learn from local bodies! At least give a staged zoom prompt where you can zoom to the inner planets, then the outer planets, then the galaxy, followed by the super clusters if you wanna take it deep lol. Also, this used to have a super easy to use function where you type in a local body and arrows guide you to its location in the sky. Why would you get rid of that?! 🤷‍♂️.Version: 7.5.4

Night sky X failure to live up to its hype.Down loaded the app. Nice colourful picture. Nowhere to set it up to suit your location. At 19:30 it set the sun with all planets in the wrong location. Unable to follow the sky with the phone. Unable to align with compass direction, eg True North to calibrate. Screen swirls around a central point as you move. I tried it a few years back as well before it was so colourful. Deleted it then and will do the same now..Version: 10.1

Too complicatedJust want to see stars, annoying music with astrology and endless advertisement pop-ups and in app purchase offers. Removed right away..Version: 11.4.1

Amazing, but can have a few tweaks!I downloaded this app, and was very surprised! I had gone through trial and error, but this app was overall the best. Okay, now to the things that can improve: 1. When you click on the place that shows what the weather condition is, the temperature, and when the sun and moon will go up or down, the app automatically sets the time to when the sun goes down. I would love if the app automatically set to the current time. 2. When I search for a faint object (Proxima Centauri for example), the app shows me the location, but no pointers or anything tell me where the object is. It is impossible to find some objects 😢. 3. Please show moons of other planets in our solar system, or some planets from different stars. I would love to see solar systems of other stars. Finally, please do not send me the link to your help website, just read the review and try to improve. In no way do I think this is a bad app, quite frankly...I love it! Just please listen to me and try to make this the best stargazing app out there..Version: 8.4

DisappointedI have used this app for many years and proclaimed all of the great things that initially made me love it. I primarily use it in the warmer weather in the Northeast. I am guessing an upgrade or three happened since I last used it. While I was with some friends at the beach the other night we caught when we debated was a planet. When I tried to resolve the debate via this app it was like something I’d never seen. The familiar functionality I once knew was gone. If I could go back to what I once purchased and had I would be there in a heartbeat. I see there are options to upgrade but I don’t even have a clue what I’ve lost. I guess I will look for something that functions like what I came to know and love. I enjoyed many years of using and enjoying the app which made me purchase it. The enhancements were great but like they say too much of a god thing......Version: 5.6

Froze up in the field; little in the way of instructionsThe app worked great at home but when I drove a few miles away to look for Neowise and there was no WiFi, I connected my iPad to my iPhone hotspot, which worked well for everything on the internet EXCEPT Night Sky, even when I connected my iPad to the USB port in my car. The app didn’t respond as I moved my iPad—I could spin the display in any direction so North could be South, e.g.—so essentially it was no help at all with locating anything. Given that the user is likely to enter areas with no WiFi, there should be some way of addressing this scenario. Which leads me to my other complaint. The tutorial is so bare boned it’s difficult to figure out how to use some features. I don’t mind exploring on my own; in fact it’s rather fun. But sometimes I’d discover how to do something and later couldn’t remember how I did it, and there’s no guide to help, so I’d have to figure it out all over again. There were a couple of features I couldn’t get at all, like the Siri voice command to find an object. So, overall, while the app offers great feature, it doesn’t provide a very good means of helping you use them. Disappointing..Version: 7.5.4

CHARGED WITHOUT ADVISINGAs much as this app is fun and informative I was highly disappointed when I was charged 75$ CND for an app I don’t use, I wish they would’ve sent me a reminder before the trial was about to end, I wanted to try it and unfortunately was caught up with more important issues and was not able to cancel before the end of the trial, I sent them an email immediately after I got a notification of a charge taken off my Credit Card, I asked them to reverse it as I can’t afford it at the moment, it’s been a week and still no news from them, I find this very dishonest and honestly disappointing, no news after 1 week..Version: 11.4.1

Pretty good but glitchy and have to redownloadEvery like 5 lunches theres this unfixable thing where its stuck at the horizon and when i move my phone it stays there but tracks horizontally horrible and stops after a bit and its very robotic.Version: 11.0.1

CrashesUsed to work, quite well and enjoyed it while it did. It crashes immediately after opening since upgrade. Tried deleting and re-installing, same result unfortunately.Version: 7.5.4

MehIt seemed great to start with but nothing seems aligned with the actual sky.... Countless times I’ve had notifications, for example, of the ISS flying over but when I double check it’s actually in the Southern Hemisphere not northern etc.... My location is showing as correct in the app and have tried to removed & reinstall etc but always just off. Overall, I love the detailed imagery but controls/ instructions could be fine tuned and simplified as they can be over sensitive and jumpy and sometimes have to press all the buttons before it does what I want it to do. Accuracy needs to be looked into also as mentioned above, stars/ planets don’t align with real life and give wrong notifications for the wrong hemisphere!!!!.Version: 7.5.3

Rip offI paid for this app then they go and ask for a monthly subscription. Switch and bait at it worst. 😥.Version: 11.4.1

One problemYou should add a clear view mode Like where it’s like on the main screen.Version: 11.4.1

Closing all the time on my iPadSimply can’t use the app. Had the app as a sky reference. I can’t spot a comet or constellation and try to align that the app shuts off. Pointless..Version: 7.5.4

Force shut downI just keeps closing whenever i try to open it????.Version: 5.0.1

Can’t match screen display to skyTLDR version: Not user friendly, can’t match anything from app to sky, display way too cluttered with stars that I can’t see (living in a very light polluted area) and unintelligible options unless you have a degree in astronomy! Uncontrollable and force closes on almost every selection. Can’t recommend. Using Star Walk instead. ——- Update: Having tried all developers suggestions without success, it’s clearly not a calibration issue. Unfortunately, for me the interface is just not user friendly, with nothing behaving predictably ... touching the screen sometimes brings up AR blend mode (which has no discernible effect - I’d expect to see my surroundings via the camera with the stars overlaid, but I don’t), another time it switched through suburban to urban to city etc, and at some point touching it got me into some kind of time travelling mode... all very nice, but I have no idea how to make any one of those happen on purpose. The watch version is just as unpredictable and uncontrollable as the phone app. I live in a light polluted area and can’t see anything like the number of stars this app shows, but I can’t find how to eliminate what I can’t see. Oh, and it force closes a LOT. Looks pretty, I just can’t get on with it..Version: 7.5.4

Hmmmm...Excited to learn that there was an app available and once I downloaded it wanted money and now I am going to delete. Too complicated..Version: 6.5

Beautiful but expensive and flawed.Gorgeous to look at and very detailed. However, I find this program very annoying. There seems no way to stop line constellations and star labels from melting away. You will be examining a constellation and it will disappear before your eyes after only a few seconds. There are also other annoying issues that I wont list here. My query to technical support has gone unanswered and they want you to fork out £2.00 a month for a subscription. So much for customer service then..Version: 6.4.1

Not so goodThis app is sooo good but the thing is it keeps crashing😡.Version: 11.4.1

Another loss, another greedy companyAnd more features that were already included in the paid version that I PAID for years ago are now locked under a pay wall. So now I cannot even use this app without paying monthly or yearly. I really want my money back. This company promised that I would get all the features when I paid for the app and they took those features away with their subscription model, trying to rob people who already paid for this app of even more money. People who bought the FULL APP years ago should have been grandfathered in and received all the features that were included in the full version when we bought it. Yet ANOTHER loss thanks to these thieves who made you buy their app and then make you keep on paying for the app years later. This is why I absolutely HATE buying apps in the App Store and I have stopped purchasing apps when these evil developers started robbing us blind. I am going to the BBB. and Trust Pilot about this and hope to get the word out. This needs to stop. These developers are soaking us for money even after we already purchased their app and nothing is done about it. Highway robbery..Version: 11.0

I didn't want your app, but you took my money anyways. now i know how you make your moneyI didn't want your app, i cancelled your app and you still took my money. you are a fraud and you scammed my money.Version: 11.4.1

Interesting appThis is a strange app, kind of cool and a bit of fun. There is one huge problem, for me at least. All of the labels take too long to disappear and if you move your device even the tiniest bit, all the labels pop back up. I have turned everything off in settings but that does not remove everything. The ability to remove everything but the night sky is something that I wonder how a gesture like that was missed..Version: 11.4.1

Conceptually Difficult to UseI’m not an Astronomer and with a clear night in a Dark Sky location I was interested in the celestial objects I was viewing. I assumed the night sky was predictable and by pointing my iPhone 11 at the Night Sky it Night Sky would automatically work out the planets from their relative position to each other. Alas no…to get anything useable it required me to align the visible night sky with the AR representation which is just about impossible. I thought I might be viewing Saturn and to align the app it had a offset of -83deg roughly making East point South. At this point I came to the conclusion this is not a quick and easy app to use..Version: 11.0.1

EhThe app is ok. Just wish when you go to click on the star or planet etc you want to view. you actually view it and not dance around all the tiny little HIP around it. Compass seems to be off. Y quiet a bit AND as an avid stargazer I base my work on the weather. Where do you get there weather from. Cos it never seems to match up with any other weather forecast (cloud coverage) little disappointing.Version: 8.5.1

Nags to upgrade way too oftenThis is a great app but the upgrade nags get very annoying. Every third time you click on the app you’re presented with a full screen upgrade to premium nag that you have to close. The in app sections showing what you could get in premium are fine. I may even had considered buying premium after using the app more, but the insistent upgrade nagging has driven me to the point of uninstalling the app. I would suggest the developers review this practice, the app and the premium features are good enough for people to consider upgrading. Just don’t annoy people so much while they’re evaluating your app that you drive them away!.Version: 7.5.4

Love this app but last week became glitchyLove this app and the watch features but last week around the iOS 13 update time (night sky V7) it has started loading up in the background and using gps all of the time. Every time I kill it, it opens up again after 5 minutes. I have switched all notifications and background refresh off but it still loads up. Checked my battery usage and it’s used 49% of my battery today. 1m of screen time 4hrs 31mins of background (despite constantly closing it). Going to have to uninstall as it’s smashing through my battery 🙁 iPhone XR.Version: 7.0

It’s laggingIt lags.Version: 7.0.1

SubscriptionI bought the app in 2012 and now it’s telling me I have to pay a “monthly“ subscription. I tried the Restore Purchase but it just keeps spinning. I have recommended this App to so many people and now it’s asking for more money than I can afford when I should have access from the purchase made years ago. Can’t find who to contact about this. It is the same with Night Sky 2..Version: 11.4.1

It’s a great app butIt’s fun to gaze at the stars to calm down but I don’t like the fact you have to pay money to use most of the stuff.Version: 6.2

It used to be a fine appWhen I first purchased Night Sky, it worked really well, but since then, there are several "Premium" features and adverts for them. In addition, the app is clunky now and difficult to calibrate because I need to do so every time I use the app..Version: 4.4.2

It is okThe app is amazing there are many features to the app. Totally amazing. But there is a problem. Whenever I want it to use my camera and see the sky that is in front of me, the app glitches and kicks me out. And it happens every time when I try to do that. So yeah. Overall the app is amazing with many cool features to explore. And includes a lot of information about any planet..Version: 8.5.3

Bombards you with messages about upgrades, even as a paying user.I’m a long-term paying user of Night Sky who has now given up using the app. Every time I use it I’m held up from identifying what I’m actually trying to explore, while the app pushes various messages at me suggesting upgrades (with more cost attached, nach). It’s a super-disrespectful way to treat your paying customer base. Such a pity - the app itself is fine: but I can’t stand my loyalty to the app being treated as an excuse for the constant selling. Enough already..Version: 11.4.1

Great app, but doesnt live up to its standardsFirst of all, let me start off by saying this app is great and very detailed. Love the info about about everything. I have this on my ipad and currently running the trial. My only problem is that even though the augmented reality feature is accurate, the camera function (where the stars and constellations in the app are projected on the sky through your screen) doesn't show the exact location of the stars and constellations. Its just either on the left or right of the actual location of the star. This bugs me because id expect more from an app that asks nearly £10 for a year. I have all the settings set to the recommendations. Please fix this because your app is great and i wouldn't want to stop using it because of this. Im not sure if its a glitch or something wrong with the app but its the same with my iPhone and ipad. I use this to find stars for when im gazing through my telescope, but this makes it quite hard to find stars and planets like mars and jupiter as its inaccurate. Fix this please..Version: 6.3

Just isn’t user friendlyEven leaving this rating is frustrating.Version: 10.2.1

Disgusting! Cheaters!!!Totally frustrated with it!!! Works so-so, at least in New Zealand. Once you delete it you’re still get subscribed to it. And will be charged for premium subscription. Their support don’t respond to your letters about cancelling subscroption..Version: 5.1

Let downAlways wanted an app like this and thought this was it. It’s daytime though I’m still able to see the position of the constellations. Though when I pointed my phone at the sun it didn't show up. I scrolled around looking for it and it showed the sun in a different position. If the suns position is incorrect so is the rest of the app..Version: 5.2

Good to bad... to not so bad.Edit: really surprised, pleasantly, by the developer response. Improvements came quickly, though more fine tuning is needed. I’m still very impressed by their passion to put out a quality product and customer service! Original review: Received an alert on my watch that the ISS would be flying over and offered to take me to it. I thought, why not... hazy, but might get lucky. So, the display on the watch showed a pretty high path (as opposed to those low on the horizon). So, keep checking my watch face arrow pointing up/down to pinpoint location. I grab my phone and open the app, met with a sales pitch 8 pages long! (Longer than most ISS passes). Find the end, close it and look for the ISS icon to appear where the arrows on the watch are pointing. Nothing. Turn to go back inside, and there it is much further north gliding across the sky NOT where the arrows/flight path were pointing! I didn’t even bother to check the app on the phone as it couldn’t even sync with it’s counterpart on the watch. Super frustrating!.Version: 8.0

ScammersThis app purchased a year subscription on its own when I didn’t even have possession of my phone for 3 months and the company are very rude on the phone and hung up on me . DO NOT DOWNLOAD ITS A SCAM.Version: 11.1

Subscription pop up thing is annoyingThe app is really good but there 1 thing about it that makes me not wanna use it. whenever i zoom in on a planet or up in the sky or even just looking around the stupid pop up subscription thing always comes up and it’s SOO ANNOYING but great app.Version: 10.5.1

Two things in the wayTwo things are making this app too frustrating to use for me. Every time I open the app a huge add appears (for the Grand Orrery) that requires a long scroll to dismiss. That’s very frustrating. When the app finally opens, and I’m looking at a part of the sky that usually contains objects I’m interested in, the Milky Way, as represented in the app, makes seeing objects almost impossible. For some reason the way this app represents the Milky Way looks like an acid trip, Loaded with bright colors and a very complex. I haven’t been able to find anything in the preferences to turn this off, or to make it look more naturalistic. Strangely if I select “real sky representation“, it makes all the planets pin sized, but the Milky Way remains Day-Glo red and purple. This essentially makes it even harder to see objects against the app representation of the Milky Way..Version: 6.3.3

Need a bug fixOverall a great all, I absolutely enjoy using it. However there is a bug. I used to live in the northern hemisphere, and when I click on a star the app displays info about its times of rising and setting based on my geolocation. I recently moved to down under, and all of a sudden everything is wrong. Take Canopus for an example. It’s so bright up in the night sky at 6.30pm on 10 April, however the app says it’s below horizon and rises at 7.05am. It appears that the info was still based on the northern hemisphere. I’ve tried reinstalling the app, making sure my location is correctly shown in the app, but no help. I believe this is an easy fix and will this app a killer for stargazers..Version: 10.4.3

Rip offFrom one of the greatest apps I have ever owned, now it is version "X" and tries to trick me into spending $36.xx for an annual subscription with no explanation of any change, upgrade in service or any improvement whatsoeverr! WYF.Version: 10.4.2

Help! How do I stop this app from taking money from account? I’ve uninstalled it but it still takes money out every month.Version: 5.2

Night skyUnfortunately I am not getting the enjoyment I had hoped. I am not clear on how to use it for example does the camera part of the I phone face the sky while you look up at the display? If the screen of phone is held up facing the sky how does one view it? I didn't even see the moon on the ap on the night of full moon. Maybe I am slow but I just don't see the sky on the ap resembling actual sky at all I would ask for more explicit instructions. Further I can no longer use it without subscribing. I see they offer a 30 day trial cancel any time but we know how that works you can never reach someone to cancel if the app falls short. I only use it rarely anyway. An app without instructions isn’t what I need right now..Version: 11.0.1

Science teacher, Astronomy buff...Clear, accurate, helpful!!! Good job “guys”... thanks for your efforts!!! So as SOON as I wrote the favorable review ... still true... the jerks in the sales department began FLOODING the app with ad after ad totally blocking my screen with obnoxious pressure to UPGRADE!!! Totally ruined my night and repeatedly angering me at the arrogant , rude way they tried to bully me into buying up ... which I would gladly done had they not been such manipulative jerks ... now I’m going to a different site and will justifiably badmouth their sales dept should anyone ask... very low class!! So then I got a lame, sarcastic, nerdy reply from a “site developer “ who chided me for being upset with the tricky , repeated ads , that rudely interrupted the site over and over while I tried to actually USE the site... Long story short it’s a good site but use while they hammer you with ads ... so either give the site free and allow users to CHOOSE to upgrade or stop acting like good guys and just charge folks upfront and honestly...... you lying jerks... ( sales guys ) 👍.Version: 7.0.1

Clunky bloatware avoid at all costsNo free option which is fine. Some things cost and there’s a trial. What could go wrong? Well let me tell you. Do you miss the early days of the internet when certain websites had pop up after pop up? Well good news have I got the app for you! Do you want an over abundance over information all at once rendering the point moot? Well good news have I got the app for you! The Screen is littered with graphics. Point it at a location it may be a planet it may be a star it may be part of a super cluster. How does the app determine what it is? By showing _everything_ all at once. In the same spot. It asks if you want to review the app. Heaven help you if you hit “remind me later” because later to this app means in 30 seconds. So the intrusive clutter has finally gotten to you and you want to cancel your subscription? Follow this guide: go to manage subscription cancel. A prompt will show up asking if you are sure. Click on manage then another prompt will say sorry to see you go renew subscription for .99 cents? Click manage. To save time you’re going to have to click manage on several more prompts before you can final get to the point where you can cancel. What a terrible app..Version: 7.5.3

100% Paid App: Misleading!!This app is 100% pay to enjoy. The “free” price tag on the store front I just that, a front. One you open the app you are forced to sign up for a monthly service of $1.99 per month before you can use it. Sure the first month is free but this is absolutely insane... Apple revolutionized the media works with the invention of the $0.99 song, the $0.99 download, and the former $0.99 movie rental. And now this app that hopes to secure a blind $20 per year for intermittent use! The most infuriating part of this experience has been that it’s in fact an Editor’s Pick. Sure the content is probably amazing and the functionality highlights everything Apple does well or at least wants us to appreciate/focus on. BUT the promise of consumer experience + value + entertainment should factor into these designations as well. If you’re not going to call this a paid app, you’re failing on the first promises are broken..Version: 6.4

Too bunch beggingEvery few taps the app begs you for money. They claim it’s for exposure however it’s obviously too aggressive. I got the message that he first few times; every few interactions it s too much. No justification for this..Version: 11.4.1

Stop with the ads alreadyI get it. You want us to pay for the subscription. Perhaps it unseemly to be too critical of a free app and I understand a certain level of promotion in any free app. But to have the subscription pop-up take over the app half a dozen times in the four minutes I was using it was quite ridiculous (including every time I opened it). Definitely won’t be upgrading and indeed will find another app to do what I was using this one for..Version: 6.4.1

Not good0 /10 It I pretty, but I don’t like.Version: 12.0.2

HarassmentI got the « free trial » after 2 days I deleted the app but after a month it doesn’t stop sending me notifications to pay BUT I DONT USE IT AND I DONT HAVE IT!! Someone can do something for it thanksss.Version: 6.0.2

IssuesI can no longer use the app on my ipad pro due to when opening it up to launch app their is a blank screen and nothing loads please fix the issue as i like using the app alot and now i cant.Version: 11.4.1

Used 9.7mb of cellular data in the backgroundGreat app but in the last 5 days it’s used 9.7 mb of cellular data when I’ve not even opened the app. I’ve obviously turned the cellular access off for the app but why is it even doing that? I also do not agree with a monthly/annual subscription model for nothing extra, price gouging customers shows greed and lack of respect. You’d also be advised to read icandy privacy and data use policy, available below..Version: 6.4

Cool app but zoom is buggy on iPad ProTry to hold the iPad with 2 hands and zoom in and out with your thumbs results in a very poor experience where the app doesn’t respond to your zoom commands and you have to try again and again until it finally works. It also wasn’t showing Orion even though I was pointing straight at it and had calibrated the compass to align correctly with the moon. A restart of the app fixed the Orion problem but not the zoom problem. Otherwise it is really cool..Version: 10.2.1

Cannot purchaseTried 8 times to purchase this app. Every time it says cannot purchase because I am not connected to the Internet. Tried wi-fi, 4G, force quit the app, restarted phone. Nothing worked. Every time the same message. Tried Safari and other apps that use the Internet and they all work fine. The problem is not on my end it is on their end. Complete waste of time. What a joke..Version: 6.2

FrustratedI haven’t had this app downloaded to my device or utilized its functions in ages but still receive emails that I’m being charged for its services. How can I unsubscribe or be reimbursed (which I’m guessing isn’t going to happen)?.Version: 5.6

Fix PleaseI love this app it is amazing especially when I’m stargazing with my telescope but it crashes far too much when I try and use the astrophotography section it either crashes instantly or I need to close the app and open it as the section of the app won’t work it’s very irritating especially when I get the telescope perfect for a photo just for the app to crash which makes me have to realign my telescope please fix this..Version: 7.5.1

Has potential......However, I downloaded it 4 times and I it was ok when I first opened it ( after the download), but then it kept crashing and freezing up. Even when I pick “Always” on the location settings( which I never do for any app), and turn the ISS and Iridium notifications off it still crashes and freezes. Does it want me to pick the premium thing? I don’t want to though!!! I don’t want to do the FREE trial!!!! That means I don’t want to do the premium thing if I don’t want to try the FREE trial!!!! I’m supposed to have a choice in this, right?!?! Developers, if you fix this, then I WILL give this a five star review. The one thing I haven’t tried is to “Use Night Sky Recommended” notifications settings. I might try that. If you have any other suggestions please share. Edit: I have now tried “Use Night Sky Recommended”. It froze up. I do need to update my phone, so I’ll try that. Second edit: Same circumstances as above, except my phone was updated..Version: 6.3.4
