Find lighting difficult to predict and figure out? Then this app may just be for you. Seriously, this app lives up to it's namea very well. ✓ Great for forming and consolidating ideas!This app has an intuitive UI, with great controls to light the subject (up to three lights can be configured, with any colour/intensity for each individual light). The three lights are fixed equidistantly in a circular rig, that can then be moved spherically around the subject (the subject being in the centre of this sphere). What would be exceptional for this app, is if the three lights could be moved independently of each other. But saying this, the way the rig is set up, I do appreciate its' simplicity when having all three lights on, and so would consider this to be an advanced lighting feature. Hands and heads, both female and male, and a skull, can be moved into any 3D position needed. The detail, in the 3D models of hands, is very high. Showing tendons, veins and even the pores are visible on the male hands. The heads do not have the same level of detail. But they do show bone structure and muscle definition, and are great references for a generic male and female head. The skull is also good to refer to when drawing heads, and has the added bonus of not excluding the underside of the skull. I can see this being useful in any future images of skulls. Playing around with this app (the 3D models and lighting possibilities) can inspire when still sketching ideas. I will still take photos of my hands and head for reference, but experimenting with lighting before taking the photo is more complicated than using this app's virtual lighting rig. Also I can save any lighting rig and position that has been set up, naming it and reusing it for a specific projects. Positions of hands, that have also been set up, can be saved too. But set up positions of heads cannot be saved. Hopefully this could be an update. When the app loads and opens, the options for hands and heads are displayed, and under these options is written "More Coming Soon!" . If there is more to come, feet would be a complement to the already useful hands and heads. And who knows arms, legs and torso to follow, coupled with the already versatile lighting rig, would make this a comprehensive must have app for sketching, drawing, painting and creating. The updates to this app could be endless, in all aspects. With different expressions for the body, in its' parts and whole. I would buy in-app purchases of these extras if they were made available, as the ability to light the subject in any preference, is what makes this app so useful. More to come sounds great too! One fix that I really love is that I can now smoothly move a model in arbitrarily small increments without the model “sticking” and then jumping too far. ✓ Needs an update, but overall goodI’ve only used this app for a couple of minutes. It has hands and heads included (have to pay for feet), and you can save poses and lighting rigs. You can control individual parts of a model, if the model has individual parts, and control lighting too. The models are pretty good. Few of the problems I have are, - The UI really needs an update - It’s hard to rotate the models, move individual lights, all the movement aspects in the 3D space since it’s all controlled by single touch -Touch controls could be more intuitive.Version: 4.2

It is an acquired skill granted, and most powerful, since hands (and feet) can be very expressive, second only to faces. ✓ Literally the best art reference app I’ve ever seenArt is something that truly helps me out in life, but recently, I had been struggling to find the drive to finish anything I started. This singlehandedly fixed that. If you have any interest in drawing humans, I suggest you get this app immediately. The only issue I can think of is that it’s pretty intensive on your battery, but as long as you can charge your device while using it, that won’t even be an problem. Beyond that, everything is near flawless. All of the features are virtual lifesavers when it comes to specific references and even just general understanding of your subject. ✓ Things to improve onAdd hairstyles as an extension. Have interval rotation. The interval would be like 10 deg 20 deg etc. this allows more precision when trying to make reference cheat sheets of heads at various angles even when it’s tilted. That way artists can make reference sheets for themselves easily to build muscle memory. Or have option to save multiple angle views at once rather than making so many manually. This would be a huge game changer. Seeing all the angles of my subject head at a quick glance on one sheet amazing for anyone..Version: 5.0.3
✓ It’s almost perfect except…I would give this app FIVE STARs if only all the head models can rotate and tilt around the neck. I was mildly disappointed when I saw the heads have no option for rigging. Because of that, their static pose lack personality compared to the hands and feet models. ✓ Absolutely love the update and...Have been using the app for years, hugely helpful, but to be honest I haven’t put in a feature request before now as I thought the app was not an actively worked on thing. But... with the last update, I now have a request. Can you add a curl slider? If you select a joint on a finger, a curl slider, to slowly curl the whole finger would be hugely helpful, rather than having to curl each part individually every time. They recently added a head in this version, but its functionality is quite limited. ✓ Nice little app, couple of tweaks maybeIt's a nice app for drawing references, handy when out and about or looking for pose ideas. Very nice models as well, high res textures make the models look excellent. The camera control is great, as is the lighting. Some of the poses are a little odd, either being something that nobody would ever naturally pull or just completely anatomically impossible. I would never use some if these in art, they're just not natural. Pay closer attention to the way the fingers behave with each other and how far back they can bend. Replace the awkward poses with different, more common ones and throw in a few extras. Better yet, maybe add in a custom pose feature for us to pose the hand ourselves. Another idea that could be really nice, include some poses that include props for the hand. Holding a pen, a glass, a bat, a piece of cloth, just a variety of different everyday items, maybe an iPhone or iPad! It would add another useful element to the app..Version: 1.2

✓ Must haveOnly 5 minutes into using this app and I could already tell it's amazing. Super simple to use, yet super effective. ✓ Easy to use, my favourite pose reference appI've used other posable anatomy apps before, even some paid, and I use handy over those ones because I find it so much easier to use. The key is that Handy uses sliders to make adjustments, and there's separate sliders for each individual kind of movement. The other app I bought, relies on using your finger or pencil to move it around in 3d space but it's so hard to isolate a bend or a rotation; I never know what I'm doing and the model just clips into itself. I quit using that one out of frustration except when I need a full figure. If the makers of handy made an app for posable full body that's as easy to use as this, I'll definite get it. ✓ Very useful reference tool.I find this tool very helpful in understanding the shape of the hands and face. Something I would love to see added would be a switch to change to a Directional and Ambient light, useful for simulating outdoor lighting scenarios with the sun with some bounce lighting. Even if it were a simple rig that you could rotate around your model with a sunrise to sunset slider and an ambient % slider that would be a great addition!!
