Terrible appI tried to use this joke app in three different hotels with my iPhone X. At the beginning it worked, but at some point it got disconnected and I couldn't hook it again. I read all the tutorials, closed all the apps, restarted the phone and called Hoidini. Nothing happened. No wonder why most reviews are like mine..Version: 5.1.1

Having to pay a subscription for the guide is bizarre as it’s free on the hotel TV. It’s also kind of dishonest as it’s an obvious attempt to rake in dollars through forgotten subscriptions that silently renew annually. If you're missing the hotel channel guide cardDoesn't give you a program guide, but instead links you to install another app that costs a buck. Volume control is coarse and unusable. Does not have channel up down buttons and you can't get the channel selector and volume control onto one convenient screen. So overall, much worse than using the hotel remote. If your hotel didn't supply a channel guide, at least you get to see them as a list here..Version: 5.1.1

Like a broken remote controlIt’s a remote control. Period. It does nothing else - no casting to the screen, no Netflix on the tv (others have said that it does that - um, no.). Changes channels. Powers the tv on/off. Volume control doesn’t change the tv volume. It’s nice to have a guide ($1/year) but eh-the tv already had that. Screencast Didn’t WorkI followed the directions to pair the app and my iPad to the tv to screencast Netflix but each time I tried to share the screen it would not show me my own tv in my hotel room but I could see other tv’s available and I actually took over someone else’s and put my show on their tv. Easy as pieThe hotel system on the TV is terrible. I’ve been staying in the same hotel weekly for work and for over 5 months. Never used the TV in the room because of how crappy the system was. Works a lot better than hotel remotesI’m using this remote on my ipad. We all know how hard it is to use hotel room remotes. With the wear and tear they get, by the time you use it, the buttons aren’t responsive. Push up/down channel 5 times, and you maybe get a response once. This is a basic remote, with a caveat. If you use the guide, you pay a small amount. (Haven’t tried it myself; got that from other reviews.) This remote allows you to turn the tv on/off, see the available channels in a list, change channels when you select from that list, and set the volume. Pretty nifty. Instead of using the app’s guide, I use my cable provider’s app to see what’s on..Version: 5.1.1

Remote ok, guide awfulIf you are looking for something to control your TV in a Hilton that still uses that old proprietary cable system, this will work. If you are looking for a channel guide as well, it's horrible. Not only does it not adjust the guide for the time zone that you are in, but different channels are off by different amounts. Some are off by two hours, some by 2 1/2, some by 3. So if you don't want to touch your hotel remote, this is fine, but you still have to switch around to see what's on..Version: 5.1.1

Fair warningIf you are planning on using this app to be able to connect to Hilton Hotel’s televisions then it works fine. If you are planning to connect in order to cast through Chromecast while staying at a Hilton you should know that Google Chromecast technical support denies that the service that they sell to Hilton can cast to the Hotel’s televisions which makes this app useless for that purpose. After Chromecast technicians wasted half my day I couldn’t uninstall this app fast enough..Version: 5.1.1

I die loads and opened it at my hotel and clicked guide bc that's the whole point and it popped up a Touch ID confirmation that i couldn't get my thumb off quick enough and all of a sudden, it flipped to the App Store and flipped back, saying "Thank you for your purchase." Out of say between the 60-80 hotels I stayed at over the year, only 2 of the hotels had the feature on the tv to use the app. But of the 2 it worked on.....I loved it. 3 years since updateDoes what it is supposed to do but UI is lame and not updated in many years. For hotels the support it, you can use phone as remote which is helpful. In the app, just tap name of channel you want instead of flipping around for it on the gross hotel remote. Been in 1 hotel that uses this app to let you cast from Amazon/netflix/Hulu apps to the TV, that’s super good. I even don’t mind paying 99 cents for one year of guide access. Some hotel TV’s have really lame slow guides that are painful to scroll through. Does only what your hotel allows.Easy set up. TV guide subscription on your phone is $1/year. Works well. If your hotel pushes pay per view products, this app can do nothing more for you. If your hotel does NOT lock you in to PPV entertainment, the hotel can enable the app to allow you to stream your content from your device to the TV. I can say with certainty that Wyndham hotels love PPV, so no streaming for you..Version: 5.1.1

“Free” but not really - close to uselessUsing this app is the only way to have a tv program guide at Holiday Inn. Requires $.99 year purchase - not the amount that irritated but the hassle and lack of warning. Beware of sneaky chargesThis app is simple and easy to use. Takes 30 seconds to download the app and connect to your hotel room tv. Especially handy if the batteries in your remote are nearly dead, as they often are in hotels. HOWEVER, if you tap the wrong button they’ll sneak a $.99 charge on you. I hit said button and before I realized what was happening I’d been charged for a subscription to the TV guide feature. I need to figure out if this is a one-time fee or a subscription. Don't waste your moneyFirst of all this app does not work with the hotel Wi-Fi only works using your cellular data. It works for free as long as you only want to use it as a remote but if you want to actually see the channels that are available you have to buy the $.99 addition. Glitchy with 2 TV sets in the same roomWasted a bunch of time trying to get this working, including two calls to customer support, neither of which fixed the problem. I discovered a solution by accident on my own. Contrary to what customer support advised, which was to turn off the TV that I wasn’t watching, it worked ONLY if I powered up both TV sets in the room and THEN logged into the TV that I wanted to watch. Why location-enabled data when location is KNOWN by service at activation point? (Like you already know the place a traveler is staying). It’s this sneaky stuff that makes it crapware. Do not buy guideA great app in general as long as you don't buy the in app guide. As soon as I bought it all the channels got shuffled and didn't correspond to the ones on the tv. However it could still be used as a simple TV guide not worth .99$ though!.Version: 3.3

OK, but Needs improvements$.99 each year is a bit, hmm... I wish the program guide function was a lot better. Every time you leave the program guide window for another window, or leave the app, and come back to the program guide, the program guide resets to the top. I wish it just stayed at whatever was the last channel you were viewing in the program guide. That way I wouldn’t have to re-scrool through all of the channels. Garbage, but can work on iOSOk, after hours of work I got this working on iOS. You download this app, sign in, then download Google play movies from the App Store. Then you open a google Play account on Chrome browser in iOS (it did not work on safari). Rent a movie there. Now go back to the play movie app. Hopefully your movie is there. Now switch the tv to play with chrome cast or flip through live tv till you see something about chromecast. Wasn't that easy?.Version: 5.1.1
