Please add a timer when using the app in bulb mode!Decent app that works most of the time. Sometimes it fails to connect to my camera and usually powering my camera and phone off and on again does the trick. More importantly, for users who use the shutter in bulb mode (long exposure photography) there needs to be a timer displayed of how long the shutter has been open for. Just a simple clock showing us (in seconds) how long it has been since triggering the shutter. Please add this Sony- it is a simple change to make that will make long exposure photographers lives much easier!.Version: 7.7.2

Ability to upgrade the firmware on your cameraIt would be nice to have a feature in this app enabling you to upgrade the firmware on your camera..Version: 6.3.0

Improved a lotIt was terrible to use but it has improved greatly, and has been working well with the Sony a7m4 camera body. Still disconnect sometimes but getting much better than before. Hope they can support more older camera models better like rx100m7, and support saving unsupported files to iCloud instead of photo albums..Version: 7.7.0

At last... ...a fix.So, I’ve been as frustrated as most by the loss of transfer capability between the app and my camera. I just updated the app (again), and at last it is working. Thank you for fixing this Sony, though it’s really quite a mess up to release an app in the first place that so drastically defeats its own purpose, and instead creates headaches. I hope I’m not the only for whom it now works again..Version: 7.3.1

This is Sony’s weakest link. UpdatedI’m a professional photographer who switched over to Sony after shooting with another brand for 16 years. I love all the features of my Sony mirrorless cameras, but sometimes I need to be in the photos. My old camera brand had a great iPhone app where I could set the ISO, F-stop, shutter speed and focus point manually on any camera in the family. Imagine my surprise that when paring my top of the line 42MP camera to play memories mobile, I found it to be next to useless. No adjustment of anything except for being able to put it in the timer mode. You can’t change any other manual function and if you leave your camera in auto focus, it might even grab the wrong spot. Sony gets an F on this one at least with the iPhone. Update. After looking at another app that prompted me to upgrade the app in my camera, everything magically started to work as it should. I wish my phone app would have alerted me to this miss match. New grade B+.Version: 6.2.1

Incompatible with iOS 13+I’ve had this app for a long time and it has worked perfectly. The transition from Play Memories Mobile to Imaging Edge Mobil was without any issues. However, a few days ago I downloaded the newest Apple update (iOS 13.1.1) and discovered that I could no longer transfer images from my camera to my phone. Is this app going to be compatible with iOS 13+ updates? As I mentioned before, this app has made transferring images a breeze and I would be very disappointed if I could no longer use Imaging Edge Mobil..Version: 7.2.1

Works great for meMenues are a but hard to navigate and instructions are necessarily clear but got the job done. Slow for raw files..Version: 7.7.2

Love this appI love using this app, so simple and quick to get photos off my camera onto my iPad at the end of the day, once I have finished taking pictures. Occasionally have to connect a couple of times but usually it works very well..Version: 7.7.0

Works fine for geotaggingA lot of reviews are focusing on the image transfer aspect, which could definitely use some refinement in the WiFi pairing process — the real problem there is that the iPhone almost instant wants to disconnect from the camera and connect to your home router since the camera has no internet. The Bluetooth side of things, for adding GPS data to photos/videos has been working great for me however. It connects quickly when the camera is turned on and immediately starts getting GPS data without having to open the app manually, even if it’s been a while since it was last used. Tested with an iPhone 13 Pro on iOS 15.1.1 with an A7 III running firmware 4.01.Version: 7.7.0

Sony action cam wi-fi windowIf you have a Sony action camera you may have noticed that the camera viewing window is an accessory. So once the camera is in its waterproof case it's hard to tell what exactly you will be capturing - this app is brilliant, you can change from time lapse to movie capture, start and stop, and tested on the iPhone 4S it only needs the pass code at the first connection. It's just what you want for attaching brackets so you may optimise your shots. You could also use it safely if you are a passenger or use it to turn the camera on and off if its rigged out of reach before you get going if solo. Four stars is maximum for this 1st generation system. As a package their is a little room for improvement tho to be fair it's great for the price point ..Version: 4.1.0

Sony is pro 🤙Using a professional sony camera is not made for the faint hearted. With a slew of features which could easily take months to master, a sony camera is a beast and can be vet technical. But one of the easiest and funnest feature is sony play memories. This feature is so powerful and fun to use. Especially if you need tight turnarounds. Easily upload images to your phone and process through Lightroom mobile or your favorite editing app. You also have the ability to control your cameras settings remotely. How powerful is that? If you have a sony camera you should have this app! Period..Version: 6.1.1

Seriously Impressed. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️May 24th 2018 Recently upgraded my camera to the Sony HX400V for the main reason of using Playmemories to instantly send photos to family or upload to Instagram. For two days I have been trying to get the camera to sync to my phone and it’s just not been working. It constantly said connecting. After two days of frustration I thought I’d try the age old solution, delete the app and upload it again. It actually worked! The app is amazing. Within 2 to 3 minutes I took a picture of the moon, it automatically saved to my camera roll (iPhone 7), I sent it to my dad through WhatsApp and uploaded it to Instagram. It doesn’t lose clarity or quality. I’ve read all the reviews and there are a lot of disappointed people, for two days I was seriously disappointed but now, absolutely love it..Version: 6.2.1

Works perfect for GPSConnected my A9 and A7iii for geotagging instantly using the app and Bluetooth. Here’s how: On camera, turn bluetooth on, pairing on. On app tap Location Information Linkage, choose ‘set camera’ and allow pairing. On camera go to Location Info Link and turn on. App should say connected with camera. Take a photo and gps data will appear on camera screen..Version: 7.5.1

1,2,3…It’s maybe too early to write a review. I just set up everything in a minute and believe me I have no patience lol. I only had to scan once despite what I read. From my a7iii to iPhone pictures are good. Thanks.Version: 7.7.2

Works amazingly wellWhen I first bought my Sony RX100 V1 I could not for the life of me get this app and my camera to synchronize. After watching every video I finally complied a quality list of exactly the steps to get things working. The KEY to the whole procedure is to get the camera and the app to communicate with each other. Once you open your settings on your iPhone and click on WiFi you will see your regular home etc. WiFi Settings. Make sure your camera is on. It might take awhile but your camera WiFi setting will be entered into your list. Click on it and make sure once it takes over for your home WiFi it has to have a check on it. Immediately go to your app and make sure it’s opened. You will see what’s on your camera screen. You can then use your iPhone as a great remote. The procedure to get photos from your camera to your iPhone or iPod is different but the key is to make sure both are paired via WiFi. IT WORKS SEAMLESSLY except for videos. That’s another whole story. You must change specific settings in your camera menu and purchase a unit that can attach via usb to your camera’s charging cord and then into this new usb cord and that cord into your iPad via lightning connector..Version: 7.2.2

Not bad !Really love the remote feature. But it doesn't reach far eh ? Also what the difference Sony creator app just came out ? Isn't the same thing beside extra 25GB of storage?.Version: 7.7.2

Once connected to camera easy to useFinding the correct place in my camera menu to connect to the app is the most tricky part. As for this app transferring images from the camera to my phone it was a breeze and worked perfectly. As far as I can tell this app is very simple and only to transfer the images to a phone. It does that easily and nothing more. I like the simplicity..Version: 7.5.2

For a dedicated app, it’s bloody goodYes, it’s awful by global app standards. But for an “afterthought” style app, it’s pretty amazing. Let’s be honest nobody buys a Sony camera for the app, it’s just extra. And for that it has: - connecting to the camera over wifi by qr - viewfinder on the app (!!) (this is huge, especially because the display on some sony cams doesn’t flip well) - controlling camera through app (again, huge for filming yourself) - fetching media directly from camera to phone (I couldn’t care less about this one but it does work) Yeah the app is flaky and clunky. It lacks polish. But it’s a single purpose app, not MS Office. I am pleasantly surprised! And it doesn’t require an account (thankfully. I would’ve agreed with a 1 star review had that been compulsory).Version: 7.5.1

Basic and EasyApp is very basic, but makes using it easy. Videos and images were quick and easy to transfer from camera to phone.Version: 7.4.0

Better than ReviewsI just got my first professional camera (Sony a6100) and I am very new to photography. After seeing the reviews for this app, I wasn’t looking forward to using it, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Im not sure if the developers improved the app since these negative reviews, but I’ve had zero issues. It took a couple minutes to figure out the instructions, but it was smooth sailing from there. I’ve had no problem transferring photos from my camera to my phone, zero issue with bugs, and the transferring process is pretty quick.Version: 7.5.2

Transferring photosI've only used this for transferring photos, and it's very easy. The initial setup required some fiddly typing of the SSID on my phone, after that it's very simple, this is what works for me: *Press play button on the camera *Press menu button *Select "Send to smartphone" *Select the option you want *In the app, select the camera *Tap OK, then “Join” *Tap "Start" next to the camera name I've taken off one star because sometimes there's no "Back" button, so you hve to restart it to go back. So, for transferring photos - 4 stars Also seems to be much more reliable than the app for Panasonic cameras, which always seemed to take several attempts to connect..Version: 7.3.3

Very useful appI have found this app to be very useful and honestly haven’t found any issues with it so far. I recently installed it to allow me to use my A5000 on a tripod for some photography at a work event, it worked perfectly. Aside from the ease of use as a full remote control for my camera the ability to quickly show people previews on my phone instead of the mounted camera made the whole experience a breeze..Version: 6.1.1

Better than expectedThis app works really well on iOS 13. I have remote control on my iPhone of the most useful settings like aperture, shutter speed, focus mode and self timer. Not difficult to set up the connection either. 5 stars. Be sure to update your remote app on your camera too..Version: 7.3.1

PerfectI connect to my phone using the camera as a mobile WiFi hotspot. I’m able to transfer huge amounts of raw files and manage the from my phone before sending them on to another server. I also use the Bluetooth for geotagging - works perfectly..Version: 7.6.0

QX 10I love the qx 10. Probably the best camera I'd use outdoors and on holidays. one thing to point out is that I'm trying to work out how the video capturing works..Version: 5.0.1

UPDATE your app inside the camera to take full advantage! This app actually works tremendously well once you set it up correctly. You MUST update the play memories and remote application ON your camera! I have an A7sII and was confused why I could use the function of this app to remotely shoot photos. I figured out, once I went to the App Store on the camera and updated the apps built into the camera, this image edge app works the way it’s meant to! Tap to focus, iso, shutter, shoot modes etc can all be controlled through the image edge app. You just have to update the remote app on your camera too..Version: 7.5.1

Still not quite thereI’m grateful that it holds onto Wi-Fi so much better than the last version, and that my assistant can now watch photos on the phone as they come in while I work. But there are still features I really need: 1: I don’t have focus linked to the shutter button- many people don’t. Please add a button that triggers autofocus during live shooting. Canon has it and so should Sony. 2: Please make it possible to change the star rating while browsing photos from the phone so that the rating appears on export..Version: 7.5.2

New update renders iPhone to camera connection uselessSince the new update I’m unable to connect my phone to the camera to either remotely import pictures or use the phone as a remote shutter. It worked perfectly well before the update but not anymore. Very annoying!.Version: 7.1.0

Works with my a7rvI’m using ver 7.7.2 on my iPhone 14, and IEDT ver 1.2.00.0280 on my Mac, they all work with my camera. Yes the initial setup is very finicky, the desktop version needed multiple updates and quite frustrating, but once it is connected, it works as expected..Version: 7.7.2

Sort it out! This has become an utter disaster of an app. The remote control function was beautiful when it worked but since iOS 13 it will not connect to my camera anymore. I’ve tried absolutely everything, spent hours on resetting my network setting, restarting my devices, re-installing apps and software and NOTHING WORKS. Please sort it out Sony because when it works it’s brilliant and I miss it!!! Edit: it’s working again, resetting the camera network settings did the trick so I’ve changed the rating from 1 to 4 stars.Version: 7.3.1

Great with a6600!Does not work with my a6000 anymore but I also have not updated the software on that camera. Wonderful improvements to this app for new cameras like a6600. Love the location data automatically connects to my phone every time I turn on the camera. I don’t have to do anything to get the location data. I will see if I can update my a6000 to work with this app again but I know that the a6000 will not work with some of the improvements like location data. I will be happy if I can upload photos to my phone from the a6000 again..Version: 7.6.0

Worked perfectly!I have an fx3 that I wanted to control and was a little disappointed that my old rat-835 sort of worked but not well. I bought an apple iPad Air 2020 model and literally within 5 minutes everything was rocking… in a good way. Simple to install and easier to connect to the camera this app gives me a far better control and experience than any other similar system (the Panasonic stuff was horrible!) so I recommend this latest version unreservedly. Note I also hooked up an apple iPhone and later a Samsung s9 (not the plus) and it all worked easily and perfectly… what more could you ask! Score a 10/10 for sure!.Version: 7.5.2

Good app and easy to use with A7 iii and A6500I downloaded this app to my iPad as soon as I got my A7 iii and it works beautifully. Then when I got the A6500, it goes from one camera to the other with absolutely no problems using cellular data anywhere in the State, or wifi at home..Version: 7.2.2

Requires careful set upI was having lots of problems with the app. I deleted it and started over. I had to use the online help at their website noted on page two of the manual as the help in the app and the manual is pretty bad. Once I got to the online help and was very cautious, the app started to perform. More to come as I use the app for a few days. Update: I used the app all weekend on both my phone and my tablet with very reliable results. I can control all the most common settings on the camera. You must set mode (program, aperture priority, shutter priority, etc. manually. But most of the other settings, including white balance and single/continuous shooting, can be controlled by the app. Make the access point a WiFi connection direct to your phone or tablet. Going through a local network requires more resetting of the connection. Note that the settings for this app and Arsenal conflict, so if you use Arsenal then switching between the two is time consuming..Version: 7.3.3

Batch delete of empty albums FINALLY FIXEDSony finally fixed the problem where using this app creates 1000’s of empty albums in your photos app. Even better they finally fixed the feature that lets you clean up their silly mess. It’s been YEARS!!!!! FINALLY.Version: 7.7.0

Just What I Needed for the Solar Eclipse!I used this software in connection with my purchase of a Sony DSC-QX100 camera, which I directly attached to an old Televue Pronto 480mm telescope along with a Barlow that doubled the focal length to 960mm. I was able to connect to the camera’s wifi radio using my iPad Pro and could take pictures and see the images on the iPad before taking the picture as well as downloading the picture immediately to my iPad. Given all the quick decisions needed to take good amateur quality eclipse photos, I didn’t miss the lack of manual settings on the DSC-QX100. The pictures turned out very well and I was able to share the view through the telescope with other viewers - all without disturbing the telescope setup. While I realize that my use of the software is rather unusual, for me, the application fit my needs and was “Just What I needed for the Solar Eclipse”. While the 2024 eclipse is still quite a way into the future, I’ll be using the setup for other solar observing opportunities using neutral density and hydrogen alpha filters..Version: 6.1.1

Try reinstalling the app!The location link feature broke after I updated to the latest version. I saw one review saying to reinstall, but I brushed it off because I thought the location settings would always show in settings > privacy > location. It turns out I was wrong and a reinstall was necessary. Once you’ve reinstalled you’ll need to re-pair with Bluetooth. Also, when it firsts asks for access to your location it will only request “while using the app”. The app later complains it’s not “always” and will request you change that in the settings. After that you should be set. For those of you struggling to get the NFC to scan, the reader is on the very top (not on the back) of the iPhone 8. With that said, once it scans there’s a 90% chance it’ll fail to connect 👎 (or at least that was my experience with the old version).Version: 7.1.0

Getting there...A good update, thanks for listening Sony. Still.....When in landscape, even in the 'new' screen, you still can't see what mode the camera has selected, i.e. Macro, landscape etc and can't see the icon to tell me whether I've got camera shake without changing screens! Plenty of room in the 'new' screen to fit a couple more icons onto it..Version: 5.9.0

Reliable and easy.I dont understand so many negative reviews. When I can remember how to set my camera up in the right mode, this is a breeze to download content from my cam to my ipad for editing. Takes a while to download a lot of content, but its never failed me (unlike other software on cheaper cameras). Also handy to be able to use the ipad as a monitor. My only niggle is that I cant select content from multiple date folders, to download a whole expedition; I seem to have to do it one day at a time (or maybe I’ve not found the option to view differently and select more clips at once)..Version: 6.3.0

Forget the playmemories appI have a Sony a5100 and I spent hours trying to sync my photos from my camera to the playmemories app (which is the app that even the instructions that came with the camera told me to use) and researching online and it was just useless. Then I stumbled upon this app and it transferred my picture in seconds!! Also unlike the playmemories app, this one gives you simple steps to sync your camera to the app and even has alternative methods if one doesn’t work. I was amazed.. don’t know why anyone would suggest that other app because this one is the best, and in my case, was the only one that worked! Thank you!!!.Version: 7.3.3

Absolutely fine with A7ivI’ve used Camrote with previous cameras, but for the A7iv Camrote doesn’t support touch to focus so I gave the official app a go. Pleasantly surprised to find that it just works, settings can be adjusted via phone, tap to focus works and the automatic pairing process is quick and painless..Version: 7.7.0
