Theory Lessons for Positive User Reviews

Awesome!!!I highly recommend this app why? BECAUSE it is very in-depth yet it is easy to understand because of the flash animation...REALLY helpful plus the price for what you get is really good but try it for yourself and you be the judge.Version: 1.0.1

S WallaceHighly recommend to anyone wishing to learn how to read piano music especially as a beginner to learning the piano at the age of 44. Note I had not played any musical instrument before, and the interactive nature of this app, compared with reading only about music theory alone, made it very easy to understand. Also, recommend the The "Tenuto" App by the same author and compliments this wonderful music theory application..Version: 1.3.1

Well organized for any beginner!I have a learning disability called auditory processing disorder. This app has clear step by step learning & is divided in sections. It will help you learn the basics & process of building the knowledge you need with understanding & writing music for any instrument. It also has visuals to help you with the description. If you are taking music classes and need a good go to guide, this is it! You won't regret getting this App! It is well worth it!.Version: 1.1

IconCan we get the wood app icon back? the red one is meh.Version: 2.0

Great!I have been wanting to learn about music theory for a while now. I bought this app and immediatley learned what the little symbols are. Its well worth the money..Version: 2.4

WorthitThis has really helped thanks!!!!!!😄😄 worth the buy!!.Version: 2.0.1

ExcellentClear, concise, informative, and easy to use. Great job. I want more content!!.Version: 3.1.1

Finally Understanding Music TheoryThis app is excellent. I am finally starting to understand music theory thanks to this. Their slide show presentation style should be a standard in educational apps. I love the way you can see all comments on a topic at once to be able to move around the topic easily. I hope more music theory apps and content is made by these guys. Would love to expand on knowledge from them. Nice work!.Version: 2.0

Great app, but questions?Great app to teach you some basics of music theory. Have found it has really helped me to revise and learn. What I think would be a great addition though is questions/a quiz, at the end of each category, as well as at the end, referencing all aspects of the app..Version: 1.3.2

Such an incredible toolI'm currently studying audio engineering And I need to understand sheet music so this tool is invaluable! Not to mention it's easy to understand! Thanks heaps guys!!!.Version: 2.2.1

Simple and good. No scales though.App is very simple and does the job. Adding scales would be appreciated..Version: 3.0.1

Outstanding job! One tweak.I am truly amazed by the quality of this app. Well worth the money. I have learned so much here and I feel as though I can really take music to the next level. I have one suggestion, however. It is tough to retain all of this knowledge without having a good way to practice some of these lessons. I understand that there is a sister app, Tenuto? I would be one hundred percent more satisfied if you released an update for this app or Tenuto that included exercises identifying chord progressions, practicing things like the more complicated triads and such; the vocabulary is very hard to retain despite how well the lessons were put together. Thank you for your hard work!.Version: 2.4

Great app, excellent designI am very impressed and pleased with this app. It is worth the price. It does an great job teaching a solid foundation in music theory. It has a very simple user interface, and looks very nice. I would recommend this app to anyone learning any instrument. The only thing I wish it had is a few more lessons, but who knows, this may come with future updates. Overall a worthwhile purchase!.Version: 1.2.1

Very informative and easy to learnGreat straight forward lessons on music theory essentials. Very helpful. Very well organized , very clear, very easy to follow. Excellent..Version: 3.0.1

App is Great! It’s a wonderful app honestly and truly and helpful as a refresher tool for my Praxis 2 exam coming up. The only problem is I was looking for some examples rather than explanations like they have on the website..Version: 3.0.1

Amazing! Just one thing to addI didn't get into music theory until I got a guitar on a whim, then I wanted to try to actually learn music as a side thing, and now for the first time I feel like I actually know a little something about music. Only thing I would add to the app is something that you already have on your website (where I learned from, I downloaded the app and it's sister tenuto) is the pop-up piano that helped me figure out scales (I never learned piano so it was easier for me to visualize this way). Otherwise, thanks for you hard work!.Version: 3.0.1

Very informative. This app is excellent for musicians. Without a doubt a must have for any musician..Version: 1.3.2

This Taught me More than My Class at SchoolI am so happy that something like this came out for people who have trouble learning it in class! This application let's the user learn and teach themselves, in a way, at their own speed and teaches them a good amount of Music Theory. Very professional and user-friendly. I, for one, am glad that I can finally learn this stuff on my own. This should be an award-winning application if it isn't one already and should be used if you want to learn the many wonders that Music Theory can do for you..Version: 1.1

More of a summary than actual lessonsI've given it four stars because it does give a lot of useful and concise information, but it doesn't really explain some things at all. - the "key signature calculation" lesson makes little sense to this "theory novice" for example. However it's very useful to help you understand what you've learned elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend using this app in isolation. But I would recommend using it as an extra resource..Version: 2.5

Great stuffWith this and the developers other program Tenuto, music is within reach of everyone..Version: 1.3

Easy to use and very informativeThis app has an excellent interface. Simple and clean, and goes through all the needed music concepts. Perfect on-the-go tool to stay fresh on concepts I’m learning from classes..Version: 3.0.1

A ‘Go-Too’ app....As a music professional I heartily recommend this app. Clear, precise, brief. Absolute simplicity to use. A design triumph in my view fellas.....Version: 3.0.1

Yes!An absolute must have..Version: 1.3

Just awesomeReally useful and enlightening, good basic language and terminology - and very handy to have on something you use all the time. Thanks!.Version: 3.0.1

With this app I am a proffesionalThis the best app for learning piano. I would highly recommend because it never ever crashes plus you can analysis O Canada, Auld Lang Syne and Moonlight Sonata. Plus it never crashes. So you should really get it. I am out!.Version: 1.3.2

Great for BeginnersFor someone interested in music theory, this is a great launchpad in terms of usability and ease of access..Version: 1.1

PerfectThis is a great theory app! I'll be using this daily. Thanks..Version: 2.2.1

SarahThis app is seriously AMAZING. I've been taking piano lessons since I was 5 (over 15 years) and I've never used anything better for theory. It really helps you understand.Version: 1.1

So much easier with knowledgeI cannot say enough how much these lessons have helped me and my daughters in learning to read write and play music. I used to just do everything by ear and it is painstakingly slow, now that I know a little theory, I can hear the music as I write it and can tell what notes will be dissident and what will build towards a harmony root. Love it. Thank you!.Version: 1.0.1

Simple but greatI learned music in french. The app allows me to get the notions in english. Thank you!.Version: 2.4

Great way to start! This app is a great kickstart into music theory! I've used this for a couple weeks and I've already have improved in my musicianship and overall understanding. Thanks for this great app!!.Version: 2.5

Thank you!I appreciate the time you folks spent making this app! I would understand if you charged for it, but I am so thankful that I was able to use it for free. Thank you for helping spread this knowledge and make it accessible :).Version: 3.0.1

Magnifico e Stupendo!OMGOODNESS!!! I have been playing guitar for 12 years. Self taught, so I don't know a lock of theory. This app is absolutely amazing because it starts at the basics, just in case you missed anything, and then continues on to some lower advanced stuff. This app is really well made and the design is quite aesthetically pleasing. It seems like an app that could have been made by Apple themselves. Good job guys. Keep adding lessons!.Version: 1.0

Lovein theoryThis app is really helpful . Simply put for my simple mind . I have read a lot of theory books and have taken classes in school and never really grasped the concept . My daughter graduated from music college and I had a hard time understanding her way of teaching it to me . I love this app !!! Suggestion .... Could you make the note duration portion of the lesson have a tone when individually reviewed in relation to the note duration itself ? Like whole note .... Mmmmmmm, half note .... Mmmmm ect. .... Thanks for the app !!!!.Version: 2.0.1

AmazingEverything concise and clear. Learned so much and excited to complete the lessons..Version: 1.1

Very EffectiveAs a person who has taken music theory before in college, I think this app effectively teaches enough of the basics of music theory. It can get a little complicated I think to those who don't know music theory before, but its great as a follow up for me because Im using this as a resource to teach music theory, myself. You don't need music theory to play an instrument, but if you want to go far in learning you'll definitely need to learn some music theory and this app helps do the job!.Version: 2.4

Outstanding but...... needs to incorporate guitar theory, not just theory demonstrated on the piano board. Where is the Circle of Fifths?.Version: 3.0.1

Almost perfect.Literally all that one needs in a very comprehensive package. Only gripe is that it doesn’t allow display of bass clef only treble clef..Version: 3.0.1

Simply amazing!!I never do reviews, so this must prove that this is an awesome app!.. This app is very easy to use and is very easy to understand. It provides very helpful examples with visible keyboards and staff's with highlighted notes to help you understand the lesson being taught. At the very end if each lesson it gives you recaps and guides to help you remember. I love this app and would recommend it to anyone!!!.Version: 2.0

Solid foundationWhat can I say, this app is clean and easy on the eyes. Excellent as reference when you forget things, and as a learning tool the way it moves the explanations with visuals and corresponding sounds is very logical, also makes it easy to understand the lessons..Version: 3.0.1

ClassicA beautifully presented summary of music theory, presented cleanly, accurately and quietly: Great value..Version: 3.0.1

GreatThis is an amazing tool. I love it! I have never played the piano and I found this app to be extremely helpful. It was simple and to the point. I think I learned in 5 minutes what take hours reading a book or watching videos. I will definitely recommend this app to those who has never played like me..Version: 1.2.1

Best application for serious music theory learnerI start to learn piano and need to learn music theory as well, after some while I found I really love those music knowledge and want to study seriously , so I got some textbook for music college, but feel a little frustrated since I am self-taught. This application did me a HUGE favor to understand the basic rule. It worth every SINGLE PENNY! Thanks to the great musician who create it!.Version: 1.3.2

Best of the BestThe absolute best music theory app out there. Nothing else comes close. The information presented is very clear and easy to understand with both visual diagrams and sound. The app starts with music theory basics and takes you step by step up to advanced music theory, harmony, and analysis. Everything is packaged in small, easily digestible chapters. The only word of caution, the diagrams in this app are very keyboard centric. If you are a pianists, this app is perfect for you. If you play a non-keyboard instrument, a little knowledge of the keyboard layout will be helpful to get all of the benefit from this app..Version: 2.2.1

Tired Of Confusing Theory Books? Buy this.Clear and precise music theory explanations. Music Theory has always confused me, but this app's visual design/animation is very helpful along with the material presented. Buy this $3 dollar app! No need to pay for tons of theory books..Version: 2.5

Abserloutly amazing!!Title says it all! I am a 15 year old producer making house/Dutch house and this has helped me in so many ways. I had no clue whatsoever about; Chords, Scales, Intervals and Chord Progressions before I found this app.. Cor I was making some aweful stuff..lawl Thankyou ever so much!!! Jez,.Version: 1.0

Well done. The theory lessons are spot-on: I think it could have spent a little more time on basic chord construction before leaping into modes, where it starts getting tricky very fast, but maybe that’s just my own weaknesses speaking. At any rate, for less than a latte at Starbucks, I got some tight lessons that gave me the basic vocabulary to get more help from other musicians as well as make sense of music theory articles on Wikipedia. Certainly less than a course at a community college, to say nothing of private lessons..Version: 2.4

Best $3.49 I've ever spentContrary to the person who wrote a review before me, I'm more than happy to spend my $3 on your app. And even though all of this information is available for free online, wouldn't you say that about all the information you get in every course you've ever taken and paid thousands of dollars to attend? I think the knowledge this app has made accessible to me and countless others is well worth the money, if not more..Version: 2.4

Music TheoryGreat app. Very easy to follow and covers key elements of musical theory. Very impressed!.Version: 1.2.1

Helped me a lot! This app was a tremendous help in music theory. I learned most concepts in under 2 minutes, and the clear and simple instructions, with the highlighted sections, only served to improve my experience. 5 stars..Version: 2.4

Really helpfulIt teaches you all the basics and the things you will need in an exam. Even though it uses American terminology (quarter notes etc.) you can change it to use English terminology in the settings..Version: 2.0

Excellent :)A great app. It provides clear concise knowledge for both beginners and experts. It has helped me grasp the knowledge of Neapolitan chords very well. App doesn't crash and is easy to marks!!!!!!.Version: 1.3.2

AwesomeI like this app and it works well with their other app, Tenuto. The only criticism I would have is that it needs more information on it. It should have the different modes of scales (Ionian, Dorian, etc), along with the inversion symbols for seventh chords, etc. It should have all of the stuff Tenuto has but just the theory behind it. Other than that I recommend this app to anyone who wants to improve their theory knowledge! :).Version: 1.3.2

Useful appGreat app nice animations, makes theory more accessible to learners. Would love to see updates/ add ons for fugal and contrapuntal theory please?.Version: 1.3.2

This app is a jewelI love this app. It is simple in its format but highly effective in conveying this not-so-easy-to-grasp material. It is better than all the music theory books I have read to date! What a nice contribution..Version: 3.0.1

Great for brushing upWell presented, has audio for certain things which is useful, generally a pretty great app. Would be nice if it was targeted towards specific exams though..Version: 1.1

InterfaceWhether you're just starting out or you have a good deal of experience, this app is a wonderful resource for getting a better understand of music theory. The real wonder of this app is in it's simple teaching interface. As you progress from slide to slide, there are subtle animations that aid in comprehending scales, time signatures, chords, etc. This app makes it easy to learn and makes the overwhelming subject matter easy to digest. I love it, and I hope the design inspires other educational apps beyond just music, they really nailed how a learning app should function. Also, the Tenuto app from the same developer has some cool "mini-game" training tools so you can apply the theory into practice. As a musician and songwriter I've found both apps have enriched my writing style and changed my approach to compositions..Version: 2.3.1

Elegant piece of workGreat job. Covers the basics. A wonderful refresher and learned some new material as well. Having dabbled at coding, what a beautiful, refined piece of work. A keeper reference tool..Version: 3.0.1

Great app! In American though.Love this app but the theory is American standard. To quaver notes etc. apart from that, great!.Version: 2.0

TheoryI study Music Technology at college and my teacher recommended as a great website to learn or brush up on theory. After seeing them advertise the app on their website I can honestly say this is probably one of the best apps those interested in music theory will ever buy. It's everything that's on the website, but in the palm of your hand. Clear, concise and incredibly informative. A bargain for the price, and this is going to get me through my exams. Great app!.Version: 1.0

Great- want more! The only thing that is missing from this is more lessons! Keep going :) I hope to see more added in the future. More integration with Tenuto app would be good, so after a lesson you are sent to Tenuto for practice. Or within this app it would be great to have a test section for analysis and identification on things not covered in Tenuto..Version: 2.0.1

Can’t open app.The app is working again, all I needed was to delete it and put it back in my phone. Works perfectly..Version: 3.0.1

BrilliantThis is superb. Clear, uncluttered, well laid out. They don't come much better than this..Version: 1.1

THE PERFECT COLLEGE STUDY GUIDEI am majoring in music ed at my college and this app is so helpful especially that my note taking is horrible. This app is super helpful and highly recommend it for those taking theory in college.Version: 3.0.1

FanI've used and referred others to for at least ten years, and the mobile app is even better. Extremely clear instruction, and I love the key calculation method that is presented. Highly recommended!.Version: 1.1

Best app in store for beginnerThis app is the best in the store for understanding,y and comprehensively explaining the mechanics and structure of music writing so one can begin understanding sheet music and effectively sight reading piano music. This app saves me huge amounts of "lesson time" and speeds my learning with clear understandable illustrations and very effective drills. Congratulations on a super app..Version: 3.0.1

Solid appI haven’t gotten too much into the app, but after a week into having it - it seems pretty epic. I am rusty and brushing up on music theory..Version: 3.0.1

Awesome appWould highly recommend.Version: 3.1.1

Add in modesGreat app, only thing I would suggest in an update is the addition of Greek Modes and different scale variations..Version: 2.4

EXACTLY what I need! Brilliant! This is one of the best music apps I have purchased! I am looking at improving my general knowledge of music theory and this is by far the best, most informative and easy to understand app I have ever purchased. The step by step method is second to none. More apps should use this process of learning, it's absolute brilliant! As for content, ive only just started but it seems very thorough and covers small important detail too. It would be fantastic if there were a series of these in grade order, I'm positive that this app would quickly become number 1 in music theory apps then :-) brilliant! 5 stars!.Version: 1.0

Truly Very NiceI had needed a great music theory app, and this fulfills my need quite perfectly. The teaching is laid out in a very easy-to-understand format with attractive interactive user-friendly diagrams. By the end of the first lesson, I felt as if I’d learnt quite a lot. And all without any effort at all. It’s unbelievable! I already have an excellent practical practice app, in form of playgroundsessions app, that I had bought in a package deal along with a baby grand piano. But I had found the hands-on playgroundsessions teaching tool to be slightly lacking in deep music theory support. So I went looking for something to compliment the playgroundsessions hands-on app, and to hence fully round out my musical education. Now I have one app for hands-on practice, and this one, for in-depth theory learning. This is great!.Version: 3.1.1

Great learning tool. This is a great way to learn the fundamentals of music theory. I use its companion app Tenuto to practice what I learn. Very highly recommended..Version: 3.0.1

Everything I neededI'm really happy with how well this app navigates you through very complex musical concepts. It explained theoretical principals in a way that is easy to understand, assimilate and commit to memory. I was honestly disappointed when I realized I had gotten through all the chapters. I highly recommend this app for all who share music as a passion!.Version: 1.1

Brilliant way of learning music theorySuch a good way to learn music theory. Short lessons that teach the basics of theory in an accessible way..Version: 2.0.1

Pretty Good App!This app came in handy a lot in my Music Theory class and was well worth the money for me..Version: 3.0.1

FantasticBought this app (and their other app Tenuto) after visiting their very useful website. Small price to pay to support a site that has built such helpful apps. Keep up the great work..Version: 2.4

ExcellentVery detailed - very helpful - easy to use.Version: 2.0.1

I like itThis app is useful for review of a lot of different theory topics. It's organized well with graphics that change when you touch a paragraph to illustrate the topic in the paragraph. There are several analyses of songs that follow the same steps I've learned in my theory class. It will take a while for me to get through all of it. What I've seen is solid and it's presented in way that's very approachable..Version: 1.3.2
