Steam Mobile for Negative User Reviews

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!It used to be a good app… now it is just a sales tool that pulls data from the web site (30% of the time it can; 70% it will say try again!). They also removed STEAM chat from the app & put it in another app; but didn’t let you know. Its only use really is checking on comments, but most of the time you need to reload it to get the data & it has a horrid interface where you often can only see the last message. Can we have the old one back please that worked really well for years..Version: 3.2.5

Get me a developer responseBro I just downloaded and it keeps making me verify that I’m a human and it’s not letting me get an account if I can’t get help I’ll raise my rating :(.Version: 3.2.2

Can never purchase a game through the appOverall the app is good can do pretty much everything the pc version can which is nice only frustrating problem is that has happened multiple times is they is a problem authenticating payment when trying to purchase games on the app please fix this. My bank account is supported so they really shouldn't be any issues.Version: 3.2.3

Can’t view profile!!UI looks good but that’s all. App still need polishing. And every time I click on profile it takes me to account page and not my steam profile. That’s really annoying, closed it and restarted but same issue. NGL I like the old one better..Version: 3.2

Useless for iPadI’ve been using the steam app for years on my iPad but the update forces it to use it in portrait mode instead of landscape. Who the heck is going to hold a 12.9” tablet like a mobile phone to use this app? Did anyone think? Update: you can finally use the app in landscape, as before and like the PC has always been. But the separate chat app on iPad is still poor due to the tiny keyboard. Please reintegrate chat on the iPad version of the app which should be more like a desktop experience anyway. Update: Since they overhauled the app you can’t buy anything because the app doesn’t refresh when you have to navigate away to do things like verify payment details. I’ve finally uninstalled this and just log into the browser instead. If I could give it less than one star I would..Version: 3.6.0

Used to be perfect now terribleNow you have to have 2 apps, authenticator and confirmations are way slower (sometimes don’t even work) and half the other buttons are bugged when trying to navigate the app. Just terrible valve, fire whoever was behind this and go back to previous version..Version: 3.2.3

Mobile steam problemHi, I just want to know how to fix my problem cause my problem is I can’t login properly it says There have been too many login failures from your network in a short time period. Please wait and try again later. But its been 1 or 2 days it still can’t login and it still saying that. Please help me with this problem so i can turn on my mobile authenticator, ASAP. If u could update or or if this a bug.Version: 2.0.10

An update that improves the Ui of the app but breaks everything elseIt’s nice that the app *looks* prettier but it’s just that, looks. The functionality of the app is in all cases worse than before. For example the wishlist button works exactly 1 time before you have to force close the app and reopen it… how does a massive company like valve miss something so incredibly simple?? Smh the lack of effort and quality control is clear everywhere you look lately lol..Version: 3.2.2

The app is a very poor experienceMy experience with the app was highly unsatisfactory. Upon creating an account, I encountered an error where a portion of my address was missing, which I didn't notice initially. When I attempted to make a purchase, it was understandably canceled due to this issue. Subsequently, when I tried to update my billing address, I found that the app did not provide the option to do so. My attempts to contact their support team led to a frustrating cycle of unproductive interactions. Overall, I must say that the overall experience was deeply frustrating and disappointing..Version: 3.6.8

Absolute garbageThe Steam app was bad before, but this new update (3.2) is something else. Chat's been stripped out of the app, several buttons only work once - if at all, parts of the screen are cut off and landscape mode - the one thing that barely made the app usable on a phone - is completely gone now. If you have a tablet or a very large phone, the app might be tolerable, but if not, everything is completely oversized to the point of illegibility. A lot of text in the app loo... lik.. thi... with no way to expand it and the app ignores both iOS's text size setting and Safari's website zoom setting. The Steam website's "view desktop website" setting is absent from the app, too (although that's also useless without the ability zoom the screen in/out). I recommend only using this app as an authenticator and sticking with the desktop client or a regular web browser for anything else..Version: 3.2

BadI try to sign in for the first time and I can’t even sign in because I need an existing account which I don’t have.Version: 3.2.5

Doesn’t work properlyIt’s pretty much useless. I tried adding funds and it just kept scrolling up instead offering me a way to proceed..Version: 3.2.5

Stupid, pointless appIt’s easier to recover a lost bank account than it is to recover a Steam account! So many codes and authentications spreading across multiple devices, asking the same questions over and over, it’s absurd. Then inevitable the system breaks or gets confused leaving you having to contact support anyway. If it wasn’t for the social aspect of steam I’d have stopped using it years ago. Your ‘sales’ aren’t even good anymore..Version: 3.6.0

Pretty, but useless. The app looks and feels much nicer than it used to. The new UI is much better looking and more pleasant to navigate than the older version and it would be pretty much perfect if I could actually buy any games, but whether I try to use PayPal or my card it always fails and has done for months..Version: 3.2.2

Can’t make purchases. Can’t buy anything. Choose my credit card. The 3D authentication window doesn’t pop up properly. It just takes you to a incorrect page. The PayPal link loads up PayPal heading then freezes. Do you not want me to buy the games or something? If I do it via the web browser on my phone it works so it’s definitely the app..Version: 3.2.3

Search bar STILL fails every timeIf you try to use the search bar too quickly after opening the app it does a weird glitch where the typed text isn't properly registered. I'm also using Swiftkey keyboard, though it works fine with all other apps..Version: 3.7.3

PlaceholderThe app feel’s finicky to almost everyone I’ve asked, the layout is underwhelming and I feel as if it’s unresponsive, however for a way to see your Steam inventory I think it’s genuinely okay..Version: 3.2.5

Broken app.Every time I log in to use the app, the screen shows blank and flashes up the screen for a split second, then back to blank. I have tried reinstalling multiple times but to no avail. I managed to buy one game on the app and now I can’t buy anything else and either platform and also can’t find any help online to resolve the issue..Version: 3.6.8

Latest version cannot see wish listIt now says cannot connect to steam server when I try to view my wish list. But can view games in the steam store.Version: 3.2

Get goodSearch function is absolutely broken; upon touching on a result, it reloads the page as a new search query. steam plz get good.Version: 3.2.5

The app feels out of date. For an app that’s supposed to be for convenience and ease of use, it lacks in that department. Most apps nowadays usually off it as a helping hand on the side if you’re in a browser especially on a mobile device where sometimes seeing everything is key. Another issue is being able to use the store. Why does the app redirect you to a site that doesn’t even load completely especially if you’re trying to use PayPal as a form of payment? They have an app now so if people have that app and this app is directing them to either a site that won’t even load or something worse then how can I trust the app?.Version: 3.2.5

Pointless and terrible appAbsolute rubbish. I spent hours saving a number of games to my wish list. Ranked them, selected 17 to buy. Then when I went to buy, it accepted all my credit card details and has been hung “working” for 30 minutes. I can’t risk buying again as customer support is so poor, but I don’t have the games I have paid for. This could be easily fixed and so many others have the same problem. Does Steam care??.Version: 3.2.2

NotificationsThe app is a huge step up from what it was like before. It works pretty well but with the exceptions of a lot of bugs and a bit laggy. One thing to note is that the notifications don’t work, I have push notifications enabled in settings and turned on what I want to get notified but I don’t actually get the notifications on my phone, only in app. Otherwise the features on the app are really useful just needs improvements fixing the bugs..Version: 3.2.1

No keyboardNo matter where I click, including search bar, no keyboard comes up. To register my mobile I had to write it in a different app and it Jen copy and paste it in..Version: 3.2

One feature missing…Would love to see the ability to look at my games based on the categories I made. Having over 300 games makes it hard to scroll through. Categorising makes looking through them much easier than scrolling down through one massively long list..Version: 3.2.5

Buggy, unresponsive messTrying to load anything on this app is a dice roll. Trying to buy anything through this app is like head butting a wall. It’s all a mess, the pages don’t load half the time, it doesn’t remember your age settings so hates content, card payments rarely work. The Steam mobile app has long been bad and it is amazing that the same company that runs the most successful gaming storefront in the world can’t manage to put out a functioning app on iPhone..Version: 3.7.2

Too buggySeems poorly optimized, this app frequently stalls and freezes on me. Especially for running on an iPhone 13. Very frustrating. For example, I literally just clicked on a link in safari to a steam forum discussion, which took me straight to this app. However the app would not load the actual discussion. It just froze as a blank page. I tried this multiple times with the same result. I literally had to uninstall this app so I could even view the forum since it kept opening this app automatically. Steam, you’re a multi-billion dollar company, why does you’re app run worse than the ones from even new startups? Come on!!.Version: 3.2.2

Chat?!!Is anyone else having the problem where if you get a notification about a chat, and you got to friends, there are no new chats? (running iPhone 4s, iOS 5) also trading would be nice...other wise, brilliant, I even have bought games on here, works fine :).Version: 1.0

AbysmalProbably the worst app I’ve ever used. I recently bought a Deck and thought it would be handy to keep the app on my phone to quickly look up purchases etc. - nope. Most of the time when you search for a game you can’t click into its page. Purchases repeatedly fail (but work fine on the website seconds after). The app can’t decide if it’s going to show things in $ or £. The only thing that does work consistently is Steam Guard but I’m just waiting for the day that locks me out too. :/.Version: 3.2.5

BruhIt won’t let me play the game I download it for mobile.Version: 3.2.5

A fixable step backwardsThis new update focus on showing store content face on, but complicates usage on your account content. Previous version was a breeze to navigate from your inventory, library, friend list, store, etc. Now it is not. Either working it to simplify back the interface while keeping the new features or please add classic interface back as an option. I am hating this one so far….Version: 3.2

New AppWhere have my friends gone? I used to be able to message my autistic son who won’t have a mobile phone but does play steam games using the app while he was on the pc at home. I don’t want to have to go to another app to do this when before it was all in the same place. By all means make it look prettier but don’t remove functionality in the process..Version: 3.2

IdeaI have an idea for adding money to your account on a device with iTunes money if it is compatable it would be Ausome so I don't have to go through my credit card details every time.Version: 1.2

UI looks so much better, buts cost basic functionalityThe UI refresh is shall I say refreshing. I can easily find what I’m looking for, check game reviews and add to my wishlist. However when it comes to buying games, the app has issues when buying games via card or PayPal. If you pay via PayPal you are redirected to a screen with a yellow PayPal button which isn’t mapped anywhere. If you pay by card you will get a payment provider timeout issue and the money is placed on hold, but Steam never get the success message back to complete the transaction. This works fine everywhere else but the Steam Mobile app. If you want the app to buy stuff, don’t bother use the Safari web browser.Version: 3.6.3

Latest updates crewed it upSince the last update I can no longer update or change my profile and friends appear offline even when there on and I can't chat with them?? Fix it pls.Version: 1.2

Update ruined the appI am not a big fan of the updated UI for the app. It’s too cluttered, and finding stuff is more difficult than it should be, but that’s the least of the problems with the update. Now when I check notifications, the app constantly sends me to the wrong pages, and the app also crashes a lot now, so I’ve had to stop using the app and now I have to use Steam on a mobile web browser. It’s very obvious to me that this update is not finished and was not tested before going live, so please, at least fix the issues with the crashing, and the glitches..Version: 3.2

WhySo i got this app and was curious to the concept of steam on a mobile device. Yet my curiosity went down the drain when I couldn’t log in, now i tried everything and to prove to myself i wasn't insane i logged in on my browser and it worked just fine and i used the same account name and password. Ive tried for about 20 minutes and it wont work so i guess Valve don't want me to have steam on the go..Version: 3.2.5

Small bug with community listingsRecently obtained some items and am trying to find the price to sell them at however it pulls a message saying that it could not load properly. the rest of the app works great but im gonna take a while to get used to it XD.Version: 3.2

Update locks you outSo the new update looks nice and clean but the issue with the update is it has logged me out and I have mobile authentication on my steam app. So when trying to log in I cannot. Tried to do the text verification and it says it was requested from a different IP address and now won’t let me log in. Thanks for the update but maybe next time think of a way not to lock us out of our accounts maybe?.Version: 3.2.1

Terrible updateThis update is awful… how do you take this long to make an update and then decrease functionality. Let us chat with friends, browse the store, browse the community market and access our inventories all on one app again.Version: 3.2.5

The new version adds much needed features but…I really like a lot of the new features added in the recent overhaul, being able to redeem codes in the app itself is a huge plus. That said, it’s clear this update was not made with iPads in mind, there’s no support for Landscape orientation. There are major issues with the search function too, typing into the bar doesn’t offer suggestions and tapping return just clears the bar without taking you into a search page. This means i cannot actually search the store within the app. Which, given that this is a storefront first and foremost, is a major problem. With those issues fixed, this is a 5-star app easy. But until then, i can only give it a 3. Please fix this soon! EDIT: landscape support has been added and makes the app much more functional but the search bar still does not work at all, this needs to be fixed asap.Version: 3.2.1

BuggyDon’t know why they made it.Version: 3.2.5

No more chatWhy the hell do I need a seperate app to chat now? The store improvement is great but no chat is a big step backwards..Version: 3.2

Update is a downgradeZero reason to more chat into another app and navigating the app is now more tedious.Version: 3.2.4

Frustrating experienceThe app experience isn’t too bad. Purchasing is very annoying. The refund experience is poor. I purchased a game and played it for a few hours. The game was then updated and then I had problems with lag and stuttering. Unfortunately despite the update changing the user experience Steam won’t refund or sort the game. You’re dependent on future updates. They don’t even offer any support to help optimise the experience. My pc is a decent pc. Unfortunately I won’t be buying another game from Steam given the risk of the game not been playable following updates with regard to their current refund policy. Also, don’t buy a steam deck from them. They end up not being delivered and tend to go missing during transit prompting text discussions with Steam (no customer service hotline) and a future claim with PayPal. Reduced to 1 star as a result…unable to put 0 stars..Version: 3.2.3

Can’t Navigate WellNew update is terrible. I enter games into search and it brings up results. Tapping on games to go to their store front just does nothing. It acts like it’s doing something and then goes back to the search list. Trying to navigate the categories like strategy or rpg in landscape is totally unresponsive. I get I can just go on my pc and buy but sometimes I wanna browse while on my tablet when I have free time to actually look and read about something to buy. Just a massive downgrade..Version: 3.2.5

Looks better but isn’tThe new interface looks better so that’s good I guess? To be honest, who cares what it looks like when it still doesn’t function that well? It was a bad app before that people, in general, only used for messaging but the new interface actually makes messaging even harder thus making an almost useless app even more useless. Steam has been around for a long time and I still can’t think of something that is this unfriendly to the user. Steam on PC doesn’t even work that great but this app is really bad..Version: 3.2.1

Oh my godThe last app was buggy but this new update is even WORSE. it’s so buggy im crying and farting right now update: looks like some bugs are fixed.Version: 3.2.2

No video playback? The app seems silly without the ability to view the videos of games in the store. Otherwise, it works ok..Version: 2.0.7

Must I log inI’d love be to browse the store. But I have to log in. So I’ll just delete the app and browse the website I guess. Weird.Version: 3.2.1

Make me an iPad version puh-lease!?!Valve, Steam, Gabe - love you guys heaps. This app however - not so much (be aware I am utilising this app on an iPad 2 running iOS 5.1.1). There is a 'Settings' section that is impossible to go to - it 'rubber bands' out of the screen when trying to scroll to it. When searching for a game in the Catalog and tapping Done to get rid of the keyboard (because it is in your way), the search results disappear. And the majority of the time Steam chat doesn't work. I can send messages, then Steam notifies me that someone has replied but there is no reply..Version: 1.0

It was fine, until it wasn’tIn order to do a lot of stuff on steam they decided to make a mobile app, that’s fine, it’s nice to use. BUT they made it so that you require it to login, and guess what, now, for some ungodly reason, the mobile app refuses to allow me to login in any way Steam, by valve, a multi billion dollar company, decided to make an app, required for most anything on steam, which bugs out and locks you out of your account Thanks, gaben.Version: 3.6.4

Horrible navigation, not user friendly at allSomehow it's worse than the old app. Navigation through the app is almost impossible. You get stuck and it loads stuff that you don't even click (example: after browsing something on the community page, pressing friend activity doesn't load what it's supposed to and just keeps it on whatever the last community page was). It's like this through the entire app. While it looks better (not even that great), it performs way less and hardly works..Version: 3.2.1

Steamdeck Prep, poor UX.I guess my usage is a niche scenario. Context: getting into the steamdeck coming from a ps5 and apple eco system. I thought this app would serve very similar to the Playstation app. Allow me to maintain purchase and download games to my steam library/deck. Whilst I await my oled, i thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to populate my library. Having limited experience on pc gaming, and familiarity with a console like experience The app being a webapp/hybrid and not native, just makes the experience clunky. This IOS app is definitely a second hand thought. 1) asking for cookies acceptance in app 2) no apple pay integration 3) small text on mobile 4) poor accessibility compliance factoring WCAG The list goes on, i think this would be a fantastic opportunity for steam to invest in its growing userbase of console users and a genuine supportive ios/andriod app (companion). This would genuinely elevate the experience and allow for people to purchase and maintain the library when not on the deck, mac or pc! Happy to provide more feedback/ test if necessary.Version: 3.7.2

Could be betterI rarely have to log back into steam on my pc so I forget the password and constantly get logged out from the app and get stuck being unable to reset password.Version: 2.0.18

Not for iPadThe latest version changes from a landscape view to portrait. Not great for large iPads..Version: 3.0

GarbageI wanted to connect to geometry dash so I tried to login but it said I had to sign in even though I didn’t even have an account!.Version: 3.2.5

A company that runs a gaming platform......Should be aware of how bad this UI is on mobile. Sure, all the buttons are there but it is not an enjoyable experience to use. Laggy, hard to tell if you have pressed a button, hard to scroll, hard to navigate. If it wasn’t steam/valve I probably wouldn’t be this harsh, but it is and I expected better..Version: 2.0.10

New updateWhile the new update visually looks good, the app functions more as a store now than the social app I once used it for. The decision to separate chat into its own app is not a good one. Why can’t they both be integrated into one app? The friends tab in the new update is hard to find and difficult to use, with the mini profile appearing halfway off the screen. Needing two apps to do what I only needed one app to do in the past is incredibly frustrating..Version: 3.2

An underwhelming experienceIt has come far from the days of just messaging people or opening up steam pages and crashing, so I thought with this new update it might be able to breath new air into the app. I was half right, the update/overhaul to the UI and some needed QOL of changes such as not crashing anytime I do something have been helpful and while the UI feels cleaner and less clunky; I cannot say the same for its navigation experience. Often times I will be wanting to wishlist or buy games and the icons simply won’t register being clicked and it isn’t very clear that clicking on a title vs clicking on the thumbnail will warrant a different result. Search bar is mediocre, often clicking multiple links within the app confuses it and can result in certain processes not loading and requiring a hard reset. In conclusion the app has lots of potential but as of now it’s a 6/10 from me..Version: 3.2.5

This is the worstMobile steam is a horrible website. The mobile Authenticator is confusing and I have been locked from my account because I don’t receive codes. When you try to remove the authenticator you go through a long process with a valve employee which has gotten me no where. There is no point getting this app unless you dislike the feeling of happiness..Version: 2.0.18

UpdateFinally my iPad force updated this. It is so ugly, not easy to function with, chat is gone and I’m not using QR codes to login!! Guess I’m no longer using this app when before I used it daily..Version: 3.2.5

Terrible, yet what I’ve expected from ValveThis company has had steam mobile for at least 8 or 9 years now and it was broken the entire time. You couldn’t change your profile picture, your name, messages would resend nonstop, you’d lose connection literally nonstop, then valve decides they’re going to make two separate apps and you have to download them both. And guess what? Same issues! Can’t change your profile pic, can’t change your name, messages resend, connection loses constantly. Valve is laughably bad at making apps, they haven’t figured out how to do it in 9 years and they never will..Version: 3.2.5

No ChatNOW PUT THAT THING BACK WHERE IT CAME FROM, OR SO HELP ME.Version: 3.2.2

Closed beta with some potentialNot sure how this even made it onto the AppStore—it's currently a closed beta release, and few people have access. I believe this actual violates Apple's rule, due to being a closed beta. If you're unsure about product development lifecycles, and different types of betas, requiring an invite to use a beta product is a closed beta. If it was an open beta (as some other software on here is), then no invite would be needed. Edit: After finally gaining access to this closed beta (no email notification, just happened to check my Steam inventory and found it there), I'm now able to use the app. First off, what it does it seems to do fine (although I'm not sure why this isn't a universal app, given its simplicity). That said, it seems to be primarily aimed at people who use Steam's IM capabilities, of whom I'm not one, I'm not sure how well it does Notifications? The remainder of the app allows for simple browsing and purchasing of games from the Steam catalog, same as the web site. Without iPad support, you're far better off using the standard browser interface simply so you can see more on the screen. If they add in something useful, such as notifications when games on your wish list were discounted, or new games are released, then this will become a really nice app. Until then, I'll stick to web/twitter for my steam interactions..Version: 1.0

I can’t do anything! It won’t let me play any games even free ones! What a waste of time.Version: 3.2.5

Steam store won’t show.In the previous version, I could do everything, purchase games, view news, community and all the other things. In the new version, it all works except for the Steam Store, it just comes up with a message in the middle stating ‘There was a problem loading this web content’. You might want to sort this out, but in the meantime I’ll keep using the desktop version. Ahh progress, I love how things get ‘better’ with new things. 🤣.Version: 3.6.3

Good looking app but…The app looks amazing now and is much more responsive than before. The new QR sign in method is great and much faster. However, there is an annoying bug where you cannot complete purchases that involve any card verification. It seems the app cannot handle the 2nd pop up and just fails. This is a good app and would be better if I could use it to purchase games on the move. More stars once this is fixed..Version: 3.2.5

Notifications wont ever load. When the app updated for the first time I was able to see my notifications just fine, and this lasted for about a week. But after this week, I haven't been able to load my notifications ever. Ive tried different wifi networks, different parts of my house, different places in general (i.e. the park, a donut shop, etc [all using their wifi]) but nothing ever makes the notifications load. What's frustrating about this is the app will send a push notification saying that I have a new trade offer, but I can't go to the notifications tab to see it. I have to manually go to my trade offers to be able to see it..Version: 3.2.2

Add the friend chat backAdd the friend chat back.Version: 3.2

Chat on a new app?Bring the chat back to the original Steam app. I don’t want 2 apps for some basic feature..Version: 3.2.2

Valve can do much betterI’m unable to even watch the videos previewing the games, it’s just a black screen... Go to genres and it’s a terrible menu system which blocks half of the options when you scroll. It’s been broken since the app came out. Does anybody at valve use this on an iPhone? It’s crazy that I’ve personally bought 2000+ games from them and they still have the one of the worst iOS apps in the store. They made half life and counter strike but completely negated both with this abomination of an app. And now that it has been updated it’s somehow even worse..Version: 3.2.5

Unbelievable the amount of bugs and problemsSo many connection issues and they dont even help you well with it they just blame it on you. They constantly have server issues it just shows who they really are. This app is 2 stars it says alot. I wish there was another platform besides steam. Because steam is made by literally idiots. Brainless wonders who don’t even know what they’re doing. Theres so much more. -10 stars bro completely stupid..Version: 3.2.2

Steam more like sceamThis is a scam if you had a computer you would’ve just went on computer to play but on mobile you need to waste hundreds of dollars for a computer so you can just play on computer and make steam make you forget all about your mobile device it’s…a…scaaaama…don’t download this if you have a computer just use it.Version: 3.2.4

Functional… but only just.Plenty of room for improvement, but at least it does most of what you’d expect, although the UI does get a bit finicky on certain pages. My main complaint though, is the app uses 1gb+ of “Documents & Data” storage according to my iPhone settings, yet there’s no way to cut this down or even figure out what exactly that 1gb of data consists of within the app..Version: 3.6.8

Idiocy of the developersHow retarded does one have to be to make a decision to split the chat from the app. It’s beyond sense….Version: 3.2.4

App is only good for browsingHonestly Valve! Fix your app and let us buy what we want to buy… It’s nearly impossible to buy games through the app due to extremely laggy and always uncooperative verification process. I got the steam deck which also more often than not is still not optimised for purchases either, I get that it’s a new tech and I have my fun with it but it is definitely not fun putting in my card details 50 times AND THEN GETTING LOCKED OUT OF PURCHASES BECAUSE “ I’ve made too many purchases for the last few hours “ Please… Let me buy games of your store… I’ve honestly never had a problem with a company taking my money and making it as easy as possible for me to spend..Version: 3.2.7

I miss the old UIThe app is now confusing on where the basic tabs are, and on top of that some of my actions aren’t responding. Trying to view my friends list is a hassle and then going to friends activity…forget it. I hate to be that person to complain and give no ideas how to make it better, but I didn’t have any issues with the last UI and they just made it confusing. At least for me. I will definitely change when I feel it’s improved..Version: 3.2.1

BadThis is so bad oh my fix ur app for the love of god.Version: 3.2.5

Really poor experienceI can’t believe a company with pockets as deep as Valve can produce such an utterly terrible app experience. Crashes all the time. Logs you out of your session frequently and seemingly randomly. Can’t purchase anything through the app. Can’t properly view your profile. Really, what is the point of this piece of garbage? A this is supposed to be a long-awaited update\overhaul to the app… image how bad it was before!!!!! Avoid. Seriously. Just avoid it. Go to the website instead..Version: 3.2.2

Chat’s gone, replaced with companion appI don’t understand why this choice was made, the chat already worked. Imagine if Discord removed the ability to text your friends, and then made a second app for mobile that only allows you to text your friends. I primarily use this app to log into Steam, and to chat with my friends, now I need to download a second app - first world problems I know, but man convenience comes at a price nowadays..Version: 3.2

Steam Mobile 3.0 ??All good on paper but on my iPhone 6 the app is not even fullscreen I have a tiny image of the app in the middle of the screen reason of why I cannot type codes or press buttons because they are all stacked all on top of each other, sort of like the iphone Apps on iPad.. is very weird and wonkey, I dont want to fully delete the app and reinstall it because I dont want to lose my accounts (or better the steam guard codes) getting banned and what not, so pretty please fix the app, thank you!.Version: 3.0

Great but needs work.Using it is a blast but! Its having some problems. Whenever I try to add a game to my wishlist or go to the games store page, it refuses to take me there. Wondering if Steam themselves even use their own app because this is a major issue and needs fixing asap. This could cost someone to lose out on a last minute sale if away from your PC device Deck or Laptop/Desktop..Version: 3.2.5

I miss the old layout:(.Version: 3.2

GarbageI can log in in all my devices instead of this garbage app. Even I reseted my password and the same result..Version: 3.2.2

They Broke ItThis app is terrible now. Slow, clunky, broken..Version: 3.2.5

Barely functionsFinally after over a DECADE of waiting for an update… all we get is a facelift. It barely functions, but at least we can watch videos now! … if you can even get to the page of the product. Half the time attempting to go to a game does nothing but show a tiny loading bar flash across the top for a few seconds… before doing nothing. This app needs a MAJOR overhaul. I actually prefer the old app. While it couldn’t play videos at all, at least it worked!.Version: 3.2.5

I cant make an accountSo I just downloaded Steam and I’m trying to make an account but it won’t let me and I’ve already put my email in and it was verified but it won’t let me make an account, can you please help me with this.Version: 2.0.20

Sigh Valve...You absolutely botched this app into oblivion. I can't even open searched games in the store. It just glitched the list back to the top. So I can't even buy games from my mobile app while away from my PC. And there is so many other bugs and issues plaguing this app. Absolutely terrible experience, we never asked for this "new" broken version....Version: 3.2.5

HorribleAbsolutely horrible. I don’t have or use a pc anymore and recently wanted to look into buying the steam deck so I thought I’d update my profile and look into things. So I decided to go in and edit things and dear lord there are so many bugs. You can’t remove people from groups or your friends list, it just doesn’t work. or delete reviews (some reviews got deleted and some just said error) slow and buggy is making it so difficult to use.Version: 3.2.2

Update came with unwanted changesSearch shortcut was removed. You would see it from swiping down while seeing what friends were online, made it easier to add profiles from phone and also quick search friends and go to their profiles..Version: 2.0.18

DookieKaka peepee poopoo app.Version: 3.2.5

Works 5% of the timeI’m not being dramatic, literally every menu has at least 100+ bugs.Version: 3.2.5

Steam locks your accountI was downloaded this app then my friend asked me to trade, I gladly accepted it but I had to get confirmation from my steam mobile app, it didn’t work because my app made me wait a entire week to be able to trade or sell anything from the market. Once I disabled my steam guard my entire market including buying and selling was locked for 15 days because I disabled it. SO FINALLY EVERYONE PLEASE DO NOT GET THIS APP IT IS A DOWNGRADE FROM YOUR COMPUTER..Version: 2.0.18

BuggedLove the ability to add funds from the app into Steam Wallet. Except it’s bugged right now. I click on add funds and literally nothing happens. Please fix..Version: 3.2.5

Bring back the og appThis app is garbage compared to the last one. common steam move, tend to break things that were never broken.Version: 3.2.5

InsanityMy first ever review on the App Store and all I can say is it’s the most disappointing experience I’ve ever had. I don’t usually play game’s online and so when I thought I’d treat myself to a game I was rather hoping I’d get past the stage of just downloading it. After trying to get a steam account to sign me in on two different emails and on windows as well as Mac, all I’ve been left with is a supposedly purchased game and nothing to show for it but an email receipt. Frankly just given up and yes it’s possible my naivety with tech has part to do with it but surely this is designed for even the most basic things such as signing in to be swift and efficient. What a disappointment!.Version: 3.6.4

17 hours to buy a game TWICE is not worth it17 hours into my purchase YES 17 HOUUUURS into my purchase they took my money provided no game and said HAHAHA maybe you’ll get a refund is 7/12 days just buy the game twice now and hope you get a refund for one of the purchases and hope my second purchase actually provides a copy of the game unlike the first one The security part of the app is a utter failure it’s like from 1997 the IT team must be the cheapest on the planet I’d be humiliated if this was mine as UK it worker.Version: 3.2.5

Was a great app until this new “improved” versionI loved having the Steam app on my phone. I could easily check which friends are online, send and receive chat messages, steam guard two factor, browse the store, purchase games, and remote install games all in one, single, intuitive app. Now this trash juice wants me to install a whole other app just to check my messages??? Oh hellllllll no. It takes a lot for me to install a company’s app on my phone. Absolutely no way I am installing multiple apps to keep the same functionality that I’ve had for years in a single app. Uninstalling this after years of use soon as I’m finished this review..Version: 3.2.2

Too oldHasn’t been updated in over two years. This could be a great app but if all you wanna do is browse the steam store it’s better to do through a browser. Handy for the steam guard use. But like I said could be much better if they updated with newer tech..Version: 2.0.10

Ok ok we’re going somewhere! My last review title was “So awful that it’s embarrassing.” I’m glad the iOS app is getting some dev love. I understand that you don’t expect it to be a huge driver for sales but it’s important to have a full suite for a platform like Steam..Version: 3.2.2

GarbageFreezes and gets stuck on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Tapping an item on my wish list doesn’t take me the to store page. This app is hot trash and the developers clearly don’t know how to make an app that works..Version: 3.2.5

So, so buggySteam make it so hard to buy anything. No purchase options work in the phone app. Keyboard doesn’t work in the PC app. So I have to type what I want into the search box on my laptop and paste it into the search box and then use my touchscreen. Lucky I have one. Terrible, broken apps. The games you sell are good but trying to actually buy them is horrendous..Version: 3.6.2

Oh hellThis is basically a port from the website. The things you expect us to push are waaaay too small and it is terribly unresponsive and slow. You can't play videos or change your profile picture. But for an app to see what your friends are doing its alright.Version: 2.0.10

TerribleNever in my life have I experienced such poor quality for an app. I use steam everyday and i’m very familiar with it. However the app is complete garbage. constantly having issues with it and these issues cannot be fixed without just deleting the app and reinstalling it. i’m currently faced with a problem when i log in the steam front page is blank and gives me no option to do anything and it flickers showing the ui for a split second. I wouldn’t touch this app with a 10 foot pole but steam rope you into getting it by locking basic features if you don’t have the mobile authentication. Which wouldn’t be bad but their app is so poorly designed. So i’m now stuck whenever i open steam i get to look at a gray screen with the occasional flicker of the ui.Version: 3.6.4

EekI deemed the latest update a massive security risk to my account and have uninstalled it for the moment. Being able to circumvent my account name and password using a QR code is not what I want and require from this app. Bonus uhoh: they got rid of the chat function, forcing you to need a secondary app to access it..Version: 3.2

Searched items cannot be selectedAfter typing in an item and tapping to select will return to top of page and not load the product… saves me money then.. lol.Version: 3.2.5

No landscape modeWhy are so many apps being released currently with no capability to rotate to landscape? With the release of the new app, we are stuck in portrait mode. Landscape mode gives me easier access to the keyboard, allows me to use my iPad stand, and provides a more comfortable view for most apps. I’m an app developer myself. Providing flexibility in layout is important. Being stuck in portrait mode stinks. Please fix it..Version: 3.0

I don’t have an accountHow am I supposed to sign in if I don’t have an account there is no create account button not happy..Version: 3.2.3

Useless crap for two stepJust allow us to use an otp app rather than this.Version: 3.2.5

Not horribleFixed the locked portrait and the look, but its still slow and clunky.Version: 3.2.1

Update killed itNew update requiring a different worse app to use messenger has made me uninstall both as they have become tedious and no longer convenient.Version: 3.2.2

Reinvent the wheelApp worked fine before update and UI overhaul, now it just crashes all the time and doesn’t work.Version: 3.2.2

Why do I need two apps now? Put chat back 😭The steam mobile app has always been pretty bad, and now they’ve removed the chat feature making it only available in a separate app. There’s no good reason to do this and makes the experience worse. The update to the old and very uncomfortable Steam Guard is appreciated, time will tell if it actually works well..Version: 3.0

Trading now issuing bans on this app? After 3 trades and a market listing, i get the following message when trying to access my inventory: You've made too many requests recently. Please wait and try your request again later. Why is this even a thing? this renders the app somewhat useless for me..Version: 3.2.5

Does steam hate Apple?I love my steam deck, such an amazing machine. Sadly I can’t say the same for the companion app here. It is even getting worse. Firstly it is almost impossible to make a purchase in store, I assume because no popups appear for 2FA. Now it seems I can’t even look at games in detail without first closing the app and restarting it. Come on steam, do some testing and release a version where we can make use of this ecosystem.Version: 3.2.7

Buggy mess but usefulThis, without a doubt, is the worst thing Valve has ever released. It's filled with bugs, mostly within the messaging part of it which it was made for, but anything other than viewing profiles and messaging friends is literally the desktop version of steam. PLEASE, VALVE, FIX THIS APP!.Version: 2.0.10

UselessThis app is so bad, it wouldn’t even let me type the correct characters in to verify my account. They were pressing properly on my phone but the app wasn’t registering the correct input. Deleted..Version: 3.2.2

Lacks landscape modeThe removal to view the app in landscape has essentially killed the app for me. Looks like I’ll only be using the app for the Authenticator. A real shame since before the new updated redesign I actually used the app a lot to browse the steam store and to make purchases..Version: 3.2

Friend chat backNeed friend chat back. Don't understand why you separated it.Version: 3.2.2

HorribleHuge step down from the old, completely functional version. Terrible update, would give zero if I could..Version: 3.2.5

UselessOn iphone it works for about 5 minutes before you need to close the app down and restart it because it glitches out and is unresponsive. Its worse than before they updated it.Version: 3.2.5

PayPal authorization not workingFix your PayPal login authorization so I can purchase things on mobile instead of my PC and I will change the rating. Right now when it tells me to log in to PayPal via the PayPal button it brings me to a page that just says PayPal at the top and doesn’t load no matter what settings I put on my browser or the app. Works fine on PC. Guess I will have to remember to save my login info on PC again when I get the time, doesn’t change that it shouldn’t block me from using PayPal on the app….Version: 3.2.5

Steam app is alright.Steam up isn’t anything special it allows you to see your games play time by new games and friend activity. It’s pretty basic for a gaming platform app I don’t understand why all the reviews are quite negative. Definitely worth a download if your a steam user and you have friends on there. Thanks, steam and team.Version: 3.7.3

Hate it won’t let me play any gamesSo I click on play game and then it takes me to the screen the screen says got steam and I say yes I got steam and it just stays on that screen it won’t let me in the game.Version: 3.2.5

Felt like I was pulling teethTo be honest I tried creating an account 5 times before trying on my phone where it went through and said my captcha has an issue. Before while signing up on the computer again my captcha after doing it correct multiple times was still an issue. The app is glitchy and to be honest the rave behind it as a first time downloaded who had so many issues I won’t download it again tbh.Version: 3.2.5

It wasn’t worked on properlyكI'm browsing a very weak website. The menus are not allocated for ease of navigation. Steam mobile application is full of errors. It must be fixed. It is very annoying when browsing with a patient outlet when using it. I had to delete it. In fact, it is not comparable to the computer version. It must work on lists, navigation and tires in the second. It There’s cutting and delaying something really annoying, even a single rating star doesn’t deserve it unfortunately.Version: 3.2

Apple FundingYou need to add a thing where you can fund your account with your apple money instead of having to go for a wild goose chase to get a steam gift card for yourself with your apple money. Allow steam to work with apple purchases..Version: 3.2.5

Hate the updateI guess I found out why the old app was around so long… Really dislike the new app. Aside from my personal hatred of the new Steam Guard (no I don’t want to scan a QR!!), the app is buggy and broken. Every time I use the app I discover another thing broken. Given the app is a glorified browser for the steam website I don’t know how there are so many problems..Version: 3.2.5

New look, same broken messIf you launch the app in landscape orientation, product search flat out doesn’t work. A lot of the time tapping Wishlist takes you to the page of the last product you were looking at, and you have to close and reopen the app to restore correct functionality. I could easily go on; there are just so many glaring bugs like this. Absolutely disgraceful for a company with such a huge user base..Version: 3.2.1

So slow and buggyBasically just a web browser masquerading as an “app”, with very few native features, except slower and more buggy than a real browser. The only reason to use this over the website is steam guard, outside of this you’re better off just using an actual browser..Version: 3.2.7

Not workingI got a new phone recently (IPhone 8 to IPhone 13) phone number is all the same. When I try to log in to Steam app, it says I need to verify from my steam guard which I’m trying to log in to… and some how I can’t receive text messages from steam as well. So annoying..Version: 3.2.5

Update feels unfinishedThis new update feels like beta software. There is something to be said for updating an app to feel more modern but this goes too far. When functionality is removed rather than improved it’s a step backwards not forwards. Example: Old app: on launch: start on friends list page. New app: Start on one of a limited number of start pages, then clicks to friends page. Why?.Version: 3.2

Bring old steam back! Cmon people, we can do this.Bring old steam back! Cmon people, we can do this..Version: 3.2.5

HorribleBecause of limitations I can’t put funds on pc so I come to mobile but I can’t even add funds! Whenever I go to add funds it puts me back to the top of the page..Version: 3.2.5

Can’t init AuthenticatorMessages aren’t sent to mobile.Version: 3.6.4

New layout is badEvery clear button has been replaced with a vague icon with multiple unnecessarily nested menus. The built-in chat was also fully removed and instead made an entire separate app for some reason? They could have just added all the technical improvements WITHOUT sacrificing usability of the app. Now this app is on-par with other shoddy companion apps people only have and use for authentication. Edit: They finally added landscape orientation for tablets, so raising review score.Version: 3.2.1

Cant create an accountI downloaded the app and it takes me to the sign in page and there is no option to create an account.Version: 3.2.5

Why did they wreck the app? They completely broke the app, it’s now incredibly slow and ugly, I can’t make sense of this nor even want to, forget it. They even took the chat function out!! What moronic executive decided this was a good plan, jeez..Version: 3.2.2

Improved but still badI have to download another app to chat??.Version: 3.0

UnusableGarbage since the latest update. I would give negative stars if possible for splitting chat to a separate app..Version: 3.2.2

LolI understand the mobile confirmation for trades, but opening and closing the app multiple times just to confirm a trade because the app barely functions and the confirmations just, don’t load is extremely annoying Also having chat as a separate app was such an annoying and unnecessary trade.Version: 3.2.5

Looks nicer but still performs poorly. The latest update finally fixed the apps glaring issues, but I still manage to get stuck in blank screens and the app often feels sluggish. I can just tell it was made with React Native..Version: 3.2.5

So slow since the big update it’s unusableOpening a Steam game link from a browser takes as long as 10 seconds to load in the Steam app. Sometimes it doesn’t load at all. You have no idea what’s going to be the case without sitting there and waiting. Needless to say, being unable even to open game pages in this app for the purpose of wishlisting makes it unfit for the App Store. I’m deleting and using the browser site until Steam reverts to the earlier app or figures out what they’re doing here..Version: 3.2.2

New UIThe new UI is overcomplicated. Should have just left it alone..Version: 3.2.2

Horrible updateSeriously the format and everything doesn’t work, the way it was before was far better, I can’t search for games as it literally just doesn’t work when I enter what I typed, the no landscape option is absolutely horrible. Trying to figure out a completely new layout is just annoyingly unnecessary, please just upgrade the app by taking this abhorrent update down and rethinking what it is the app really needs..Version: 3.2.1

New version is so low…New version is so low Valve dropped the limbo bar in the lowest sub-sub-sub-basement of heck and then grabbed a spoon to start digging. I have this for two reasons: Authenticator and Chat. The app has to access my iPhone 13 camera to get a QR code that it can NEVER identify, so then I have to resort to a code it tells me it doesn’t want me to use. And now there is a separate app for chat, so it is completely missing! Never opening the app except for the Authenticator ever again..Version: 3.2

Steam Can’t Sign in Due to Poor or No ConnectionI was in the middle of posting screenshots on Steam on my PC when Steam suddenly can’t due to no connection. I tried logging off and then logging in, but now it can’t log in because there’s no connection. This is ridiculous because I have full Wi-Fi on my computer. I tried restarting it and tried to sign into Steam again, but still nothing. All I ask is that this issue is resolved ASAP so that I can still finish posting screenshots and access other features of Steam..Version: 3.2.5

Useless on IOSI gave it two stars as the UI looks nice and it obviously has potential. But it’s basically useless on IOS as it doesn’t bring up the keyboard whenever I need to type something (i.e. search is unusable). I also couldn’t get Steam Guard activated either as every time it emailed me a confirmation link, it said it had already expired - even if I clicked on it instantly!.Version: 3.2.5

Not a user-friendly updateThis app had been great for so long because of its simplicity. It was so easy to access my own profile page as well as my friends.’ Now, when I navigate to my friends list (which is now a couple more taps), and tap on a friend’s name, the app will do nothing for several taps. It is so much harder for my friends’ profiles to load. I think this new update overcomplicated what was once such a simple, practical app. I wish I never updated!.Version: 3.2.2

I was disappointedHonestly, I’ve seen a TON of videos showing great games and how great this app is! And it looked amazing! So I tried downloading it. I snapped and was disappointed. It wouldn’t even let me CREATE AN ACCOUNT. I tried tons of passwords and usernames and nothing worked! There is no edit button so I can’t go back to see if there’s a “create account” button or something. So I deleted it and retried, opens it from app, and just about everything more! My own PHONE saved the account but I still couldn’t even create an account! There was a sign in. That’s it. I couldn’t acces or do ANYTHING AT ALL. I didn’t even give the dang app a experience!!!! Please fix this..Version: 3.2.5

Horrible SiteTried 3 hours to create an account and get logged in to buy something to no avail. Never again..Version: 3.2.5

Can’t see game screenshots in the app.If I’m deciding whether to buy a game, I want to see images of the gameplay in landscape, as portrait makes the game images (which are all landscape) way to small to appreciate any of the game’s graphics—basically no way to see the product properly in the app. The header and footer also cover way too much of the screen in landscape mode, so even just trying to view the images on the page is not possible..Version: 3.6.0

It’s good, but the ui is terribleIt’s nice to have steam on mobile if you want to buy games and subscribe to workshop content without going onto a pc. The only problem is that doing that on the app is clunky as hell and an eyesore. Everything is just menu after menu and is just really slow. If you are reading reviews before installing, id go install the app with caution due to the really crappy ui… which is a same because I think the concept is really convenient….Version: 3.7.3

.🤬🤬🤬🤬I can’t get fnaf or poppy playtimeAnd I am furiousBut are you are but that’s not it now my mum has have to pay money which I effing hate.Version: 3.2.3

The WorstThis may be the worst app I’ve ever used. Garbage..Version: 3.2.3

Cleaner Layout But A Big Step Backward For iPadsJust what it says in the headline, folks. The layout and fonts are updated and cleaner, but with the new update, the app no longer recognizes landscape as a viable orientation. For those of us with keyboard cases, especially, this ruins the app for use on Steam Forums, or even comfortably while we have our iPads set up as “second devices” next to our main work computers or workstations. Please, Valve - bring back landscape functionality!.Version: 3.2

Needs updatesPlease bring back messaging people, this new update is difficult to learn as now the ability to chat has been removed.Version: 3.0

Intro to steamI’ve been on steam for 10 years but haven’t really used it much. I got a steam deck and thought the app would be great, however it lacks a few things. Purchasing games, impossible every time it stops, I think this is because it requires a browser to authorise. It would also be greater if it allows you to have more options on the store, choices of great in deck etc, as I don’t always have the deck with me (strangely) but always my phone. Even if it’s just to add to wish list and buy later.Version: 3.2.5

Utterly brokenNot only can you not make a purchase through the app, as the 3dsecure banking authentication requires a popup window, but it also breaks purchases through the website, as all links get redirected through the app stopping them working. Checked again 12/22 still a total dumpster fire. The auth link now fails 90% of the time with an issue on steams banking end, or if it does make it through to my bank, loops back to the steam webpage and not the app, so the purchase fails. Cannot report to steam as their support page is hidden behind options that go no-where..Version: 3.2.5

Great app, but also pretty brokenI love the idea of being able to access Steam from my phone when I’m not home, and it’s convenient if I don’t have access to my PC. Overall, it’s a great app to use when I’m away, but this app also has quite a few flaws. The user interface is kinda buggy and slow, kind of feels like a website on a console. Whenever I add funds to my wallet, I usually have to restart the app for them to appear, even through the payment has been processed. There aren’t a lot of problems in the app, but when there are, it’s pretty annoying. Besides the cons, this app is very nice to use and gives a great user experience when it works..Version: 3.2.3

A buggy messNot ready for release as the app is so buggy it is barely usable.Version: 3.2.1

Super buggyNeeds some major work. Super buggy. Won’t even let me approve sign in requests.Version: 3.2.2

React native store experience.Ok. So React Native is better then the terrible html store the last version had. But it’s still awful. The buttons sometimes do nothing. You can’t purchase stuff because you just get a white screen when trying to use PayPal. It runs at 15 fps. Needs a native rewrite. Failing that at least use Flutter. React native is terrible..Version: 3.2.5

Fixing what wasn’t brokenThe new update literally just made the app worse, stripping chat out into an entirely seperate app for literally no discernible reason. And making the UI annoying to navigate with its current implementation.Version: 3.2

Can’t confirm trade in this APPIt’s so annoying this APP can’t approval the trading even with the update..Version: 3.2.1

Buying skins for gamesThere’s currently no way of turning money you get from apple gift cars into steam credit and I feel like this needs to be possible since the platform is available on mobile..Version: 2.0.10

Instant crash under iOS 11Just updated to latest version that claims to support iOS11 and above and it just instantly crashes on launch. Unusable..Version: 3.2

Worse and worseOld version was clunky, sure. New version has no chat and wants us to get yet another messenger type app just for steam. Valve thinks they can displace Discord or something maybe. Anyway typical Valve: worse and worse..Version: 3.2.5

Just stopAnyone involved with developing this app and the whole steam authentication system - should never be given a job again and put down like the rabid dogs they are. Disgusting the amount of money this company has and this is how they spend it - wasting everyone’s time with a disgusting glitched buggy system so Youcan sell something on the market with no hold. Evaluate yourselves whoever made this thing it’s literally pathetic that you could even think you’ve done a good job here. Go work at McDonald’s it’s all you’ll ever be good for..Version: 3.7.3

Steam app uselessStill can’t login, hopeless.Version: 3.7.2

Not an app problemBeen trying to contact you guys about your terrible download speed for updates on games. So, I check my download speed and it’s 811 mbps. Also weird enough my upload speed was over 900. So it was weird when I was trying to update a game and it maintained 5 or so mbps. Isn’t that funny? Oh wait, not funny, it was more sad. Oh and yah I followed all the “helpful tips” you people provided which definitely did not help. Idk just something you all should consider and fix. It’s definitely you and not me 🤷🏼.Version: 3.2
