C25K® 5K Trainer Pro for Negative User Reviews

It's ok and still my fave but...The app is starting to feel a little old and clunky. There's some awkward UX and the audio player doesn't give you much of a menu to work with at all. It could use more use of GPS. If this app could be bolted on to Strava and have a real iTunes interface it would be perfect..Version: 3.9

APPLE WATCH TIP (and review)********TIP******** If you use this app with just the Apple Watch, and you want to listen to music, in settings on the watch app go to general > wake screen and disable auto-launch audio apps whilst your using the app. This will stop it flicking back to audio as soon as the screen goes off and will save a lot of frustration trying to switch it back each time!!! As far as a review, the app in general is pretty poor as an experience. It’s definitely not on par with a normal workout app, it doesn’t seem to do any sort of tracking on the watch in standalone mode and is basically just a glorified timer. However! I cannot fault the workout program, it is very effective. It seems to be the only app that works with Apple Watch natively, so you don’t really have any choice, but if there was competition I would not be paying £5 for it, way to much money for a glorified stop watch. If the tracking worked accurately on the watch it would probably just about be worth it..Version: 4.8.4

Needs workI love the simplicity of this app but the watch app needs work. I did not pay $8 for the watch app to not notify me when to start walking or jogging. There’s no noise or vibrating unless you have the app running in front of you. It’s extremely frustrating during your workout. I want to be able to use this app with watch only but it makes it too hard. I’m disappointed I spent money on this so far..Version: 4.8.1

Miss old featuresI used this app in the past and it works wonders! Was able to run 5K distance no problem. If you don't use it, you lose it. On my 2nd go around and I miss being able to hear the prompts that say "run 2 of 6". On the Pro version I expected more after paying $5 for it. Specifically purchased it for the Apple Watch feature but have to have phone unlocked??! What's the point? Not worth the pro version just to track distance and calories. Refund please..Version: 4.0

Don’t bother to upgradeI wanted to see more analytics and paid for upgrade. Seems for the music you either pay more or use iTunes, you can’t look back on maps and there’s no speed or anything. I can’t see any benefit..Version: 4.8.15

OkI really want to like this and give it four or five stars, but I struggle with it a bit. First, even with my ringer on, it does not always alert me when to start running. It also appears to stop alerting me if a phone call comes in during a run section. And the most aggravating for me is that, in addition to it not alerting me when to run/walk, if I look to the app on my Apple Watch, it almost never opens and if it does, it just has zeros in every bubble. So I cannot even check where I'm at in the workout on my watch when it is not beeping or vibrating the alert on my watch. Help with that, please..Version: 4.0

Frustrating if you're running outside the gymI upgraded to the new version because the incessant in-app purchase ads in the free version kept connecting to the App Store and pausing the app. Annoying. New version is also annoying. I run outside, and if I keep the app open in my pocket as I'm running, any contact with the screen pauses the intervals - which I don't realise until I've been running/walking for too long. But if I put it in lock screen I don't get prompts. So I end up running with my phone in my hand, checking the screen all the time which means I can't get into a rhythm. This isn't a problem once you get past the first 4 weeks of c25k but in the early stages, every second counts!.Version: 3.2

DisappointedI thought for $8 I would get a running app with all bells and whistles especially included music. It’s not a bad app but for the price the music should be included. LoLo have a fantastic running app which includes music which varies with your speed..Version: 4.8.1

Good app but...A good app, but I would rather: - the references, eg "walk 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)" were available in km... It is a 5km program after all and a large proportion of the world no longer works in miles; and - the stupid register page didn't pop up every time you open the app; I've registered already - leave me alone!!.Version: 1.52

Can not use with just Apple WatchWon’t sync from watch to phone- doesn’t show you a map of route! £5 for a stop watch.Version: 4.8.15

Unhappy with nagging about location servicesUp front, the workouts provided are good. Works well logging activity to Apple health. I feel like the interface could use work; most of the main UI is taken up by a stock photo that doesn't change, and you must scroll through your running data as it only displays one data point at a time (distance, time, etc.). Would be better to get rid of the photo and replace it with a map or an option to display all data points at once. My biggest gripe, however, is the nagging for always on location services even when not using the app. There is zero reason for this app to need anything beyond "allow while using," other than to collect data in the background for marketing. I get even owning a cell phone means the privacy cat is probably out of the bag, but I shouldn't have to put up with nagging from an app I paid for to needlessly provide it access to my location data in the background. You might as well stick with the free version, or find another app, if they're going to insist on collecting your data anyway..Version: 4.8.15

Major bug on syncingMake sure you sync your watch with your phone well in advance of when you want to leave for your run because it takes a long time. If you forget and leaves it till just before you want to go, you’ll be screwed. For some reason they’ve changed it since I last used this app and now there is a synchronization process that must be completed every time, but the watch doesn’t update quickly, and they didn’t give you any way to restart it..Version: 4.8.15

Like the appI really like the app and how easy it is to use w Itunes library. I wish it would show pace while walking and running (if it does I can't find it) and also the TIME! I would like to leave app open and still be able to see what time it is. I run during kiddo's soccer practice and am constantly having to double check the time, especially when I end the course and am up for keeping on! That would be another great feature to extend stat tracking beyond the preset program if you keep going. Again, if it does this I can't find it..Version: 4.0

There’s a lot missingI liked the interval portion itself, but the basic app is useless for the watch. I bought the pro. My biggest complaint is that the app doesn’t provide enough info. You do the program three days a week. Ok, is that back to back, spread out, what is it? Are they saying you need a rest day in between? What if you do all three, then you don’t have to do anything the rest of the week? I’m being only slightly facetious here. Many people, myself included, won’t be able to read between the lines. I think they need to be a little more clear. The other thing I didn’t like was under the fitness program in the pro app there remains advertisements for other fitness apps. That’s usually the reason I purchase the app instead of using the free app. Not to mention, they want you to add a music subscription even if you purchase the pro app. It looks Apple Music might be integrated where you can just use that instead, but I’m not certain. Drop the advertising and add better explanations and this is a 5 star app, without a doubt..Version: 4.8.9

I have used this for a while but...So I have used this app for a while. I just recently got an Apple Watch and was exited this app was available for it. The next day after I downloaded and used it, my battery on my phone lasted barely half the day before I had to charge it again. Same with the following few days. I thought it was my Watch, but after looking at my battery usage it told me it was this app eating up 50% of it when the app wasn't even in use or turned on in the background. I was very disappointed..Version: 4.0

Dont buy if you want a watch only app!Fell into the trap of buying this app believing it will work alone on watch. I know its my mistake but, this app does NOT work without iPhone. So, you need iPhone to start, pause, record and stop your run. What is the point of having this on the watch? wasted my $8. Only I am to blame. :(.Version: 4.1

Don’t use with Apple WatchBit of a shame, but I bought this because it was the only one I could find that supports the Apple Watch. Only problem is that the support is next to useless. After about twenty minutes running on Week 6 it crashes out, causing the Apple Watch to restart and losing the run data. I was stuck on Week 6 Day 2 for three runs before I called it a day. I could carry on without the Watch, but there are better apps that I could use if that’s the case so … app dumped. Zero stars..Version: 4.8.15

No tone in air podsYou don’t here the tone in AirPod if using only watch.Version: 4.7

Works to help you run, but no idea of what you’ve doneYou run, it guides you. So far so good. At the end, it shows you a map. Look at it carefully as it is the last time you’ll see it. The map history announced does not exist! Plus if you hope to sync to Apple Health, it is off by default. Dig in the settings and do it as no one will remind you. Don’t hope either that your old runs will sync. As we said, they are gone already. No sync with strava either. In the end, if all you want is someone telling you “run” or “walk” at regular intervals: great! If you want to know what you’ve done in the past. Nope... you’ll need to run 2 apps in parallel :-(.Version: 4.8.15

Reminder option not working?I’m having issues setting reminders on this app. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app but reminder option still isn’t working! 😑.Version: 4.8.9

No longer syncing to other appsI wish I could say I still love this app; however, for the better part of a month it’s refused to sync with Apple Health or Fitbod. I can get apple health to read to Fitbod. So that part is no issue - IF the app would sync to apple health. Nope. And guess what - even though I paid for the “pro” version, I can’t even send a message to try to get help because I “don’t have an email linked to the account” - and guess what... there’s nowhere in the app to set up a real account!! Guess I’ll find another app to use. Bummer. LOVED the app before the syncing issue..Version: 4.8.17

Still a bit buggy? There are a lot of great things about this app, but unfortunately it seems to be buggy on my iTouch (2nd Gen, OS 4.2.1). The voice prompts stop working at a random point in the routine and refuse to start again. And the playlist feature is erratic, switching to songs that aren't in the playlist but are in the rest of my music collection. I'm sure any bugs will be worked out and I can be patient. I sure hope everything gets ironed out because it's a great app otherwise - beautifully designed, nice and simple, and you can even help support breast cancer research by purchasing it!.Version: 1.3

Horrible integration with Apple heath and MyFitnessPalThere is no obvious way to enable integration with MyFitnessPal or Apple health kit. Normally apps that integrate with each other have a setting that allows for this. Not this app, but it is advertised as supporting integration. Perhaps clearer instructions or a better app setup can be provided..Version: 4.6

GoodGood for beginners but needs some minor adjustments, warning towards the last walk before cool down and maybe a 15sec countdown towards jogging to cater for the slow treadmill uses as it takes some treadmill 15 secs before reaching selected speed...for the pro version at least.Version: 3.8

Watch AppYou might as well not even bother having the app on your Apple Watch. Waste of time and money as a watch app.Version: 4.8.4

Free app betterYou don’t get anything extra with the paid app.Version: 4.8.12

Apple Watch stopped syncing!I paid for the app and suddenly app watch sync stopped being supported!.Version: 4.8.21

Great phone app, not so great watch appGreat phone app. Works extremely well and easy to use. Bought Apple Watch so I didn’t have to bring phone with me on runs. First run I left my phone in the car, turned on music and started the first workout. Did the 5 minute warm up, and started the jog. When I get like I was jogging for more than the minute, looked at watch and realized I was already 30 seconds into the walk. Unless I’m doing something wrong, there’s no audio cues when using the app on just the watch. You have to be looking at the watch exactly when it moves to next step to get a small vibration. If you’re not looking at watch the whole time, it’s useless. If I’m doing something wrong and you can get audio cues I will update review to 5 stars because this and the companion apps are great..Version: 4.8.2

Third party trackingThe paid version requires you to consent to them selling your location data to two different companies before you can use the app. The are a lot of other c25k apps or there and because of this I'll be using them now instead.Version: 4.8.3

If only I could rate ZEROSo disappointed in this app. If you can run without playing music, great then it works fine. But when the app is supposed to 'coach' you to run WITH music, it just doesn't work. When you find it hard enough to get the motivation to get out there this app makes you lose it all over again. Beginners, don't buy this app..Version: 1.90

There should be a do not ask me again optionI paid for this app, so it's pretty annoying to have to leave a review in order to get rid of the prompt at the end of every workout that asks for a review. There's also a problem with the music feature where it only plays the first 4 songs of my playlists. Probably would not buy again..Version: 3.7

Annoying ads after purchaseThe app itself isn't bad, if you just use the phone side. However, the watch app doesn't notify you to jog or walk unless you constantly check the screen, which makes running a painful experience. Also, why the heck are you advertising to me after I purchased the 4.99 version?!?!.Version: 4.8.1

Must be fabulous...for others...After reading g some of the more glowing reports on this app, I thought "great! This would work for me!!" Well after using it for one complete training period for an upcoming 5K, the next time I wanted to use this app....and when I needed to PAUSE the app, after hitting the RESUME link, nothing happened. Lately, any time I place this app in pause, it freezes. Even after reloading the app about 5-6 times, it will freeze in every use I make of it. Would I recommend this app? No, simply because when you are starting out and need to stop for a good reason, this app fails to re communicate. Too bad I cannot get my money back..Version: 4.0

Good appI like the app, find it works well and I like how I can listen to my own music. Dislikes: 1) pop up screen every time you start the app. I don't want to give you my email address, I bought the app stop bothering me 2) upgrading from free version to paid does not bring the data over. Had I known about these 2 things I wouldn't have bought the app, I would have kept using the free version..Version: 1.52

App won’t synchronise from watch to phoneDownloaded this to use with the Apple Watch. Went for my first run, came back and it won’t synchronise with my phone but the app on my watch won’t let me move on to the next work one without synchronising. Complete waste of money. I’m very disappointed..Version: 4.8.15

Does the job but...I have used Get Running app for a while and my husband convinced me to try this one out so i paid the $4.99 for the Pro version. I don’t like how the voice doesn’t give you reminders or updates. In fact, 2 seconds into your run/wall is when she’ll tell you “Start running/walking”. It would be nice if she said, “get ready to run in 10 seconds......start running now.” And it would be nice if she could tell us where we are within the run “you have two runs left before we cool down.” Okay...so basically if it was just like Get Running, it would be better. Husband said the apps on the free version pop up all throughout your run. Husband also agreed that he liked Get Running app best. This does the job if you want to run, but it’s just not for me. Oh, well!.Version: 4.6

Apple Watch is a waste of moneyThe watch app is terrible. The haptic feedback doesn’t work and there are no ring tones to tell you when to switch from walk to run so your just left to guess and check your watch every few seconds. Wish I could get a refund..Version: 4.8.2

App is alright not perfectWell I’m happy with the fact that today in my training I managed to run 2 lots of 8 mins without stopping. I’m half way through the program with a 5k booked in 3 weeks. It’s still hard for me and not a fast running person since I’m 220lbs but have lost some weight and push myself not to stop. The app it’s self needs some improvement I found the sound alarms I couldn’t hear so had to constantly physically look at my phone while running. Every time I turned on the app it kept on telling me to enable motion and GPS. I now have them app is on so it stops when the app is closed. Would love to see this app show me the time of day, since I’m trying to fit in my training between my errands or job I have to keep an eye on the time. 3 stars needs some revisions!.Version: 4.1

App is fine but Apple Watch functionality is lackingI upgraded from the free version because I wanted the enhanced capabilities on the Apple Watch. I regret it. There really aren’t any capabilities after upgrading other than the ability to use the watch standalone. This would be ok I guess if I was just starting C25K, but I upgraded when I was already a few days in. The watch app doesn’t let you skip from week 1 day 1. Also the watch app doesn’t show timer if you are using it as a companion to the phone. All you get is a notification like “run 2 of 4”. Honestly I feel like this was a wasted $5 upgrade. Should have stayed free..Version: 4.8.12

Poor app badge managementAn app that is paid for and requires notifications to run properly shouldn’t subject the user to notifications of ads or other products. Moreover, if they have app badge numbers to make sure users tap on the ads (in a paid app mind you) they should be able to clear the app badge without having to delete and reinstall. It’s basic app development and should have been caught during testing. Also, the reason I paid for the app was because of the watch integration. However the watch app is so poor that it is utterly unusable..Version: 4.2

Don't buy this appThe volume doesn't work so you have to constantly check the timer..Version: 1.90

Watch app not greatApp for the Apple Watch is basic - gives audio run / walk cues and a countdown timer but can’t see what the running plan is. Also, it randomly got stuck on a day from weeks ago, and I couldn’t shift it forward to the run day I should have been completing, so I was stuck doing a run from week two when I was up to week seven !!! Even when you skipped through each of the run / walk stages, it had to be synchronised with the phone. Then it warned you about how you’d completed a workout twice - well, duh! Meanwhile, despite paying for the phone app, it’s filled with advertising and asks to sell your data..Version: 4.8.13

It was goodAt first the app was good. The latest update has broken it though. It now skips interval message. Sometimes when you do get a message you get it twice (the message talking over itself, slightly delayed). It's most annoying because you are never sure if it's skipped or it's about to end the interval some time soon. May as well resort to using a watch the way it's working now..Version: 3.5

C25K is filled with broken featuresI’m trying to get back into running after 2 months off due to quarantine. I bought the pro version so that I could use my Apple Watch without my phone. That lasted for 3 weeks until the Apple Watch and iPhone apps became unsync. After they became unsync it became apparent that there was no way to sync them back. There’s also no option on the Apple Watch to select what workout your doing. The Apple Watch version of this app is completely useless to me. Aside from the Apple Watch the tracking is unreliable. Some of the maps at the end of the workout are correct while others are not. On some maps it’ll correctly display my running route. On other maps it shows that I cut through backyards, went a completely different way, or jumped from one spot to the next. I suspect this my be due to using a running belt. However other apps such as MapMyRun, Runkeeper, or even Apples activity app had no issues with my running belt. The app itself has no audio stats. I do not know my tempo, my distance, or how much time is left in a particular interval. It simply says warmup, run, walk, halfway point, 1 minute left, and cool down. Overall I’m disappointed with this app and all its flaws..Version: 4.8.15

The Apple Watch app is a joke. Don’t buy!I paid for this so I can use the Apple Watch app. It doesn’t sync! Do not buy. If it doesn’t want to sync fine. Why can’t I just chose which workout I have to do on the Apple Watch ? The devs are a joke. Do not buy..Version: 4.8.19

Don’t waist your moneyI got the pro version to get it on my watch. The only thing it basically gives you is a timer with a buzz notification. I cant even see any of my run data after the run. Ot also does not sync with the health vault.Version: 4.8.2

Not worth it.Does what it says on the box, however even the paid version wants to sell your data and the watch app frankly is rubbish..Version: 4.8.3

Great updatesThis app was horrible about two weeks ago. All the previous complaints WERE accurate; no voice prompts, couldn’t feel the buzz and half the time it wouldn’t buzz/notify unless I held it up and watched it. Also, it would buzz at a half way marker and a one minute left notifier. This was annoying because on the random chance you got notified it would be a half way warning... Now for about a week all these problems have gone away. I now have a voice notifier, the half way and one minute warnings are gone, and I no longer have to look at my watch because I can trust that I’m getting notified appropriately. This week has been great. It’s actually been a positive experience. Things I need to check that I had problems with that may or may not have gotten fixed; this app stays on top when I’m running, the app doesn’t have a screen delay every time my screen sleeps, the screen notifications need to stop while running(I can look at the screen and tell if I am running or walking, text notifications is stupid). This app recently got much much better..Version: 4.8.5

Watch app is next to uselessConsidering this is an app for running, it’s Watch app is absolutely terrible. It regularly loses its place in the routine and disables itself altogether telling me I need to subscribe (I’ve paid for the pro version). I gave this two stars because when it does work, the Watch app makes the programme easy to follow. I don’t even have to look at the watch as it just buzzes to let me know when to change between walking and jogging..Version: 4.8.9

Very disappointedI paid the $4.99 for the pro version to get the app to work with my Apple Watch (so I didn’t need to bring my phone on runs). Although it prompts me to run/walk, that’s about all the app does. It provides absolutely no feedback on running/walking pace of your runs once completed. And it only shows the map of your run (and an inaccurate one at that) once when your done. Once you close that run, you can never see/access the map again. So maybe the app works well for people who only want the run/walk prompts, but it does little else. You can find other apps that do that that don’t cost $5. Going back to the Nike Run Club app (which has its own issues, but is free and provides a lot more than this one)..Version: 4.8.5

Stop asking me for a review!!This app is great and all but it asks me to write a review everytime I finish a run! No matter how many reviews I write, it still asks. Until it stops, I'm giving this app 1 stupid star! So annoying! Great....There goes my Zen. Thanks guys!.Version: 3.7

Terrible for Apple WatchThe app is so poorly designed for the Apple Watch. I purchased the pro. When using stand alone mode, sometimes you’ll get the alerts to direct you, other times you won’t. I am on week 3 and it gave completely wrong information when syncing, therefore giving me no credit under my Apple workouts. Says I ran .22 miles when I ran 2 miles. Exercise ring was closed but nothing under move! When I tried resetting everything it took me back to week 1, day 1. There is no way to bypass it to move up to where you are. So frustrating when you’ve paid for the pro..Version: 4.8.15

Still no FacebookLatest update and still haven't fixed the share to Facebook button. Bunch of morons in support..Version: 3.4

DisappointedPaid for the pro version for the Watch compatibility however it doesn't even vibrate when you move the next phase of a workout and you can't use it unless your phone is nearby... not to good if you don't want to take your phone running :-(.Version: 3.8

Paid version still prompts to buy moreI upgraded to the paid version of the app so that I could support the developers and ditch the adds, but I'm trapped with a red alert "1" because the app constantly wants me to buy a bundle of their other products. After viewing their ad, the 1 doesn't go away. Very frustrating when I want the alerts to remind me to run, or when I'm on my run, but have to constantly be reminded to buy buy buy. I paid for this, please stop asking for more..Version: 4.8.13

Tracks you EVERYWHERE. ALL THE TIME.I think this app is pretty good for developing a running habit, but it tracks you everywhere you go all the time. If you sent location access to “only while using” it doesn’t track your run properly when your screen is off so if you don’t change that setting it will murder your battery by the end of your run (if your battery lasts that long). It seems like they are counting on you forgetting to change the setting from “always” to “only while using” at the end of your run. It’s very annoying. Whenever I forget two days later my phone shows me a giant map of red dots on a map and it says “C25K has been using your location in the background.” I paid the money for the app I should be considered a CUSTOMER of Zen Labs not THE PRODUCT for their advertisers. Currently looking for a privacy respecting alternative..Version: 4.8.15

Apple Watch App not very goodI just purchased the pro version to start using exclusively on my Apple Watch on my runs and this app is not very good. The main reason to use the app on your watch is so that you do t have to carry your phone on your run. But this app doesn’t give me voice prompts at the start of each cycle of your interval run. So if you like to listen to your music on your Bluetooth headphones while your training for the 5K you don’t get any voice prompts. You have to constantly be looking at your watch to see when the walking is over and you need to start jogging. The slight buzz and sound you get from the Watch is barely noticed especially if you are moving and have music playing on your AirPods. Come guys all the marketing hype for this app and you can’t produce a decent app for the Apple Watch. Folks look elsewhere, I’m going to ask for my money back!.Version: 4.8.4

Unresponsive...I use an iPhone X and I have to start and stop the app many times before it will register the tap on the Start button. Sometimes, if I get it to Start, then it won’t respond to a tap on Pause button. Don’t start music before starting your workout because your workout will not start. You have to start the workout first, then the music. A full minute plus passes before I can get the music to start. Very frustrating start to a workout. I like it, once I get it started. Not sure I will continue to use it as it is somewhat of a deterrent..Version: 4.6

Apple Watch app is garbageI have been happily using the free version of this C25K program for years. I just got an Apple Watch so I purchased the $6.99 pro version so that I could have the app on my watch. Just home from my first run with it and it was AWFUL. It didn’t give alerts consistently, so I stopped my run to make sure the sound was on my watch and it was. The time jumps around, so not only do you not get alerts when it is time to run or walk, but suddenly you will be in a walk section and it will show 30s left of what would have been a 90s walk. What should have made my run more enjoyable and smooth, made my run annoying and stop-start. Not a fan. Wish I could have my $ back..Version: 4.8.1

Ok but could be betterI’ve used a couple of C25K apps. This one looks nice but could do with a few improvements. Firstly while the interface is clean, a number of the metrics are too small to read such as “2 of 6” runs. Another improvement would be the voice telling you when you are starting the final run of the set as this brings some relief to know you are almost there. The watch app is useless. A functional watch app that doesn’t require the phone would be beneficial as exercising was the main reason I got an Apple watch. Notifications need some work. I did a run at 5:50am but got a notification at 9am suggesting I ‘dust off those running shoes”. I still start an Workout on my watch at the same time as these app doesn’t work with the Apple Health or Activity app..Version: 4.8.1

Terrible for Apple WatchI purchased this app as it has quite a good reputation. The main reason for purchasing this app was so that I can use it on my Apple Watch. This is what the app provides on the AW: - a timer placed on top of a poor quality image in the back round. That’s IT! Having the app on the watch should at bare minimum vibrate/play a sound when the workouts change from walking to running back to walking. All that happens is that there is a voice command on the phone. The same thing that happens on the free app. NOTHING happens on the watch except the counter quietly keeps ticking. I feel I have been DUPED by this low quality product. There are free apps which do more on the Apple Watch than this app. It’s the first and last time I buy something from ZenLabs. If your looking for a good guided 5k app which provides useful notification on your Apple Watch then stay away from this garbage app and keep your money safe!.Version: 4.6

Useless for C25K on iwatch standalonePurchased this hoping to use it on the iWatch without needing to take the phone out. There were no sound alerts/haptics when it was time to walk/jog, the app doesn’t stay on screen as active so had to keep reopening it. The time was laggy. Waste of £4.99.Version: 4.8.4

Tracks you outside of app. Keeps asking to enable "Motion and Fitness"The app works to perform the basic C25K program. That is a plus. Now the major problem: **STILL doing this after latest update** The app continues to access GPS when the app is in the background, even when you are NOT tracking a workout. The only way to get the app to stop using GPS is to disable its GPS access entirely (which would reduce the accuracy of tracking when using the app) or to force close the app. I'm not sure if this is a bug or Zenlabs is unethically mining information about its users. I can't believe I paid for such a sloppy app. I was fooled by the good reviews. Update: I received a message from the developers telling me to go to settings -> privacy -> location services -> C25K and set gps access for C25K to “while using the app”. I already had that option set. The issue persists. I have also update my phone, uninstalled the app, reinstalled the app... the whole shebang... the app continues to try to track me inappropriately if I don’t force close the app when I’m done. It performs identically on my wife’s phone as well..Version: 4.2

I want to love this app.But I’ve been unable to get the iwatch to work. I upgraded to premium so that I could use the watch standalone and wouldn’t have to carry my iPhone. I have been unable to get them to sync and lost data every time I run. I have submitted two emails for assistance and received no response. The phone app is great if you don’t mind carrying your phone on you all the time. They do not publish step-by-step instructions that I can find. It is not as intuitive as it should be and I am pretty good with technology being in software sales. sometimes the app on the watch speaks, other times it doesn’t. If your watch goes to sleep the app stops working. Lots of little glitches they did not think through. I guess I will cancel my premium subscription and start carrying my phone on me when I run. Not my preference. Downgrading my review because I just realized that my run today didn’t sync with the app and now I’m starting with day one week one again..Version: 4.8.17

App is good; watch app needs workThe app is good - audible and haptic feedback make it so you don’t have to look at the watch or phone to know when to switch from walking to running. I upgraded from free to pro only for the standalone watch app. The watch app has good basic functionality, but it does not sync with the watch properly. When I sync, the phone will show the map and stats, but if I come back to the app later, the map is no longer there. Have seen this issue pop up online and it’s still not fixed..Version: 4.8.15

Waste of moneyAbsolutely terrible app. Apple Watch gives zero notifications on when to run and walk and is therefore completely useless. No data either on the screen so just a glorified timer that does nothing else. I want a refund !!!.Version: 4.8.4

Useless on WatchDecided to try the officially C25k app after the old one I was using stopped getting updates. Seeing the Apple Watch support was a big part of choosing this app. I'm very disappointed and doubt I'll be able to get any use out of this app. Interval notifications don't display on Watch in stand alone mode unless the watch screen is on. You literally have to watch the clock to see when to change speeds. No HealthKit workout integration from the Watch either. The iPhone app forces music into shuffle every time you launch it, so my carefully ordered running playlist plays out of order. And after buying the pro version, still there's mandatory data sharing you can't turn off without losing functionality and ads every day. If the app gets shutdown (like after you try to turn off location so you're not forced to share it), it doesn't remember you were in the middle of a workout, so you lose your progress. Extremely disappointing..Version: 4.8.3

Great app! It’s getting better but I would like to link it to My Fitness Pal and Fitbit..Version: 4.6

I love it but Don't use with apple watchI love c25k. However it has its flaws with the Apple watch. I want to be able to see my progress on my watch but hear through my earbuds what the coach is telling me to do. So I have started putting my watch in airplane mode and just using the running tracker on my Apple watch in addition to using the c25k on my phone and earbuds. It works pretty good that way. Then I can check my pace and distance on my watch but still follow the trainer when I am running..Version: 4.2

When it works it is greatUnfortunately after having to repair my phone it will no longer sync and you cannot choose the place you are in the programme on the watch. I have asked for support but after getting a response initially I am now getting nothing. Frustrating and a waste of money as I now can’t use it.Version: 4.8.7

Fundamentally okay ...But ... too many ads for a purchased app and quirky operation..Version: 3.4

Waste of moneyLost all my progress after 3 weeks and won’t even allow me to skip back to the day I had reached, complete waste of money avoid at all costs..Version: 4.8.15

Not worth the upgrade.Upgraded to the pro version so I could access the watch app, however it doesn't notify through the watch so still have to keep my eyes on the phone???.Version: 3.6

So far so good - week 1Impressed so far - makes it easier for a non runner to start.Version: 3.8

Apple watch issuesCannot get it to sync with Apple Watch. Even though I purchased the pro version..Version: 4.8.14

DisappointedNo route saved. Displays and does not save it..Version: 4.8.12

Still no fix for months old bugsI just bought this app despite seeing bad reviews from September and earlier. This app is useless unless you have your phone open on the app. The notifications don't even pop up on the phone unless you turn on the phone yourself. The watch is constantly out of sync with the phone. The funny part is they say the updates come from the community in the app description. Well, it's been 9 months since the last reviewer who mentioned this problem and still no fix although they updated the app one month ago with optimizations. Poor execution for the app. Devs if you are reading this, please make this one change. Make notifications work please and this would be a 5 star app..Version: 4.6

Very buggy with iPhone 7+ and Apple WatchI got this to use with my 7 plus and my Apple Watch. First, it keeps prompting me to turn on motion and fitness settings every time I open it, even though I've checked and double checked that it is, in fact, turned on. The most annoying part, though, is that I don't get audible notifications in my headphones when the phone is locked and in my pocket. I have to have it unlocked to get them. I've made sure my phone is not set to silent. And even if I turn off the auto-lock, it still sleeps in my pocket because of the light sensors. I don't remember having this problem on my previous phone, or with previous versions of the app. Worse is the Apple Watch app. They take a long time to sync, and , most notably, if the app is running on my Apple Watch and my phone is in my pocket (how I ideally wanted to use it), I get nothing. Not a vibration, a sound, anything. I have to constantly check the timer while I'm running. The best solution I've found is to run the app on my phone, lock it and put it in my pocket, but NOT run it on my Watch. I will get push notifications on the Watch saying to run or walk. I don't, however, get to see the timer without pulling out my phone or opening the app no the Watch, which defeats the purpose. 2 stars because it does what it should IF you are willing to hold your phone unlocked for your entire run. Needs improvements. I'll be looking into other options..Version: 4.0

Keeps crashing...This app worked great until I updated it and now it keeps crashing... It opens for about 2 seconds then just goes away... Disappointed that I paid for it and now I can't use it. Please fix and I will put it back to 5 stars!!!!.Version: 2.00

It would be five stars if...1.) It stopped asking me for a review. I'm in my third week, I've edited my review after every workout and it STILL keeps asking me. Annoying, a bug, whatever, please stop asking me. 2.) It stopped prompting me to post my activity on social media. Took me two weeks to figure out that if I hide the bottom controls, I get a "done" button so I can at least get out of that screen but still after I say no to posting on social media a dozen times, shouldn't it stop doing that? Social media posts should be an OPTION. 3.) Any use of location, either "while using app" or "always", is a HUGE battery drain. I turned it off completely and it works fine. Otherwise, it's a great app. Well designed, intuitive, great routine for ramping up to 5K at least so far. A bit pricey, but I guess it's worth it. Again, if it would just do what it does and leave me alone from ratings, social media posts and the like, I would give it five stars..Version: 4.0
