✓ Smule reviewI am going to be open and honest with you guys. So I got the app and for a little while I could sing for free, then after some time I got back on the app and I realized that I could not sing for free. 😞😒 and on top of that the only way you can sing on it is if you go to invite and sing with some Random person you don’t even know. I am not saying the app is bad, but there are some thing that I don’t like about the app. For the parents if you did not know this the app is considered a social media. I mean it just ruins it for the people who really want to use the app and cant because they can’t pay or sing with some Random person you don’t even know. I have tried some other apps just like this for example it was something like the voice that I got and I don’t even think I got to sing on it cause it wants me to pay. Once again the app can by fun until you have to pay and do all these things that some people can’t. I wanna say that you have to pay for the VIP. If you guys know some we that you can prevent these things from happening please let me know,😊 but this is just the experience I’ve had with the app. I hope these things like having to pay after some time can be changed. 🙂.Version: 8.0.9
✓ DisgustingThis app is filled with disgusting piggish men trying to lure women. Also; they allow pedophilia, grooming and children entertaining perverted pigs. I was on this app for 3+ years and when I had to threaten them to deactivate my account. Looks like the whole internet is filled with disgusting pigs trying to lure children into child trafficking. This needs to be stopped immediately. It’s apps like this that allow child grooming needs to stop immediately. Shut this app down completely or you’ll be hearing from the FBI. ✓ ExpensiveThis app is great for people who are willing to pay the high prices to be able to actually sing on the app.:( The only thing you can do is unlock one song for free but however,when I was in the middle of the song I wanted to restart because I messed up and there wasn't any restart button so I pressed quit hoping I could go back in and restart but it didn't let me. Otherwise you have to duet with someone but you had to be invited first. Plus, 2 years ago I could sing songs without having to pay. I have deleted the app but I might install it again if you don't have to pay for every song. This is my opinion..Version: 6.1.1

✓ Vocal effects gone! Do not pay for subscription!Bring back the vocal effects!!! Literally just deleted the app because of it, as well as my friends that had this app. It was fun and enjoyable to have the ability to change our vocals. You guys created an immersive experience at the tip of our fingers that people usually have to pay for at a studio in order to experience. It was pure genius! But apparently the dumb idea lightbulb went off in someones head and they thought “hey I know what will make this app even better. Let’s take away the vocal effects that everyone loves which is the sole reason people download this app, instead of creating more and better ones.” What’s worse then the idiot that had that idea is probably the rest of the company that agreed with him. ✓ What Have You Done To Smule?I’ve been using Smule for about a year and absolutely loved it, tried to get in tonight and it’s had an ‘update’ where so called ‘improvements’ have been made... I cannot get my pre recorded songs to play, the activity is showing in foreign languages and not people I follow or at least in English, it’s not loading up properly...terrible. Unless it’s improved and pretty quick, I won’t be paying for any future membership. #disappointed March 2021 UPDATE Sadly, due to the poor updates I no longer enjoy Smule so want to cancel my subscription but cannot do this as I purchased via Smule. Smule ‘help’ page tells me to go to my Smule ‘account’ details and follow cancel subscription instructions...there are none!.Version: 9.3.7

✓ Love the app but ....I have been using SMULE for 6 years and I have 16k followers. Does it matter that I am a loyal VIP paying subscriber and I get on average 100 joins per song, no - too many loves they will block you from doing loves, too many comments in too short of time you get the dreaded 418 and they block your ISP and you are flagged as a spammer and you can’t do anything until they decide to unblock you. Doesn’t matter if they are your own songs. They don’t tell you about it, you find out later. And forget about support. They are of little help. SMULE blocks you on a whim with no warning. I am currently at the 418. I didn’t even know why. Had to find out from another user. SMULE tells me send us your IP address nothing, then they say try uninstalling the app - they don’t think that’s the first thing I did? It’s been a week and I have been still been unable to access my account. I thing my issue has been resolved I can now access my account. I give them three stars because I love the app but their shenanigans annoy me and their updates always have bugs.Version: 9.3.3
✓ Algorithm is badFor anyone using USB-C you need to buy a "USB-C DAC dongle" otherwise you're going to have audio/recording issues. Developers, I've been using Smule for about 9 years and while I appreciate you guys trying to modernize your app, however, there's one issue you've been having that needs attention. Your 'hot' algorithm is not good. It pushes the same "popular" people to the forefront and overshadows newer and lesser known people. You need to add some kind of "recommended" OR update your 'hot' algorithm. New users (as well as old) with no interactions are not going to help sustain the app's life. You need to recognize that every new generation is going to be important for your growth. Your research team needs to learn how to incorporate them into your community. (I highly recommend some kind of a "kids zone community" so that the overall app doesn't feel like I'm only hanging out with underaged kids. Maybe let them have a few free pop songs to sing to keep them busy without needing to pay? That might be a good solution to resolve the 1 stars.) Also, I'm not sure if it's a temporary update but why are OLD OCs at the top of the hot list while active OCs don't even make it??.Version: 10.8.7

✓ So many glitchesI heard about smule and wanted to download it and try it. I had the app before so once i entered my email it said log in but i had forgotten my password so i reset it and made a new one. It was all fine until i went into the app and every second came a notification about not being connected to wifi and even though i was connected it still didnt work:i reset the app and then it still didnt work. I deleted and reinstalled smule and once i had to enter my password it said it was wrong and didnt work so i reset it to a different password and it still didnt work sadly🥲 Hope it gets fixed soon and i will try later again..Version: 9.8.1
✓ Hey, so uh this isn’t super coolListen, I don’t think it’s a bad idea to roll out pre done stuff but its not the greatest when you take away the individuals option to customize it The best way to have gone about this was to make these settings optional My voice as someone who has grown up half deaf is hard to understand sometimes especially with harsh reverbs and such. As well I need to be able to hear myself as I sing so I’d often use settings to my advantage for that since some were louder and crisper than others. Having preset settings not only takes the fun out of singing but also makes it hard for people like me to participate. When I join in with someone it should be an option to go with their preset or to change it to what I’d like but monopolizing the sounds and the quality on a karaoke app isn’t the best move my friends. Audio quality should be top priority please. Bless i understand wanting to make money and such as well, I’ve been on this app for 8 years (when every single thing was free aha). I’m really grateful for all the friends I’ve made on here, and I have quite a big following, but I think this is because of my ability as a VIP to open songs for others to join. There is NO way that someone who isn’t VIP can become popular on this app. Secondly, the prices just keep increasing. The developers of this app are so greedy, yearly membership has gone up progressively from £20 to £50 to now £91. You would think with the rising popularity of smule that prices go DOWN from their starting point, not up. It’s ridiculous: this app is BARELY functional without a VIP membership; there is really no other choice. There are also so many bugs that ruin recordings and even over the course of a few months and at least 3 updates, only a few have been fixed. Since I’ve had the app so long I’ve seen it go through many many update and changes and they have all been great and really improved the over all experience. However this latest update is terrible you don’t know what vocal filter is on until the song starts and you have no choice. I think I speak for most users when I say that it was better when we could choose what OUR voice was going to sound like. I usually use this app once or twice a week to de-stress after work and school but now this is stressing me out because I have no idea if I’m going to sound good with my natural voice or be a robot with a filter. ✓ So buggyStop start - freeze - crackle buzz -sort your bugs out Smule. Another evening where I’ve had to completely ditch my video joins because of choppy performance. Kill the fancy filters and make something that runs smooth. Edit: No I won’t “send more details” to support@smule because I don’t believe they will address any of them. * Songs stuttering when recording and then, when finished, the playback is out of sync or other times completely drops the singer audio from a certain point of the song onwards. (Possibly related to device getting full but should not be happening) * Hitting “record again” freezes the screen making it necessary to restart the entire app in order to resume. * Sound settings being inconsistent with what was submitted, and these the reverb etc seems to be readjusted when we have updates… so we have to figure out the balance all over again. * Having a joins interrupted because Smule Sing suddenly starts playing the preview in the background… mid recording, effectively destroying the video session. * On and off periods of really bad latency meaning songs take forever to upload - other times they are fine. My internet is fast. Surely some quality checking protocol would pick up of the outstanding issues..Version: 11.2.1

But I was really sad to see how most of the songs on this app doesn’t allow myself to sing unless I pay for membership. ✓ Good but…So I have used Smule for years and the first few years were awesome as long as you invested in VIP. Now… it’s a bit disappointing after all the years of VIP I’ve paid to access and record my own music now they made it so you can only scroll back a little bit on the music you’ve already recorded in your profile, and then they lock you out from accessing the rest of your past songs unless you pay them for VIP… the way I see it is, I have already paid for the previous finished content, why should I pay for something I have already paid for??? I get all the perks they lure you in for VIP but it shouldn’t be a VIP privilege to access stuff you already made…. As a person who used to record daily, it isn’t right I can’t listen to my favourite songs from a year ago…. The new interface is hard to use, previous layout gave info on date of recording, no of joins , etc at a glance - now it doesn’t and it’s painful having to click through the thumbnails to see all that info; Also when going to feed page it auto plays, we dont need that, I would like to choose which collab to listen to, and not have some crap collab auto play; Please bring back the previous layout! ✓ The idea is good the execution is not.Seems in last 6 months all the song ratings appeared to reset or something and now it’s harder to locate a quality audio track. Mixed experience as far as audio quality goes each time you use the app. As an example if you start a song and select Studio then sing, the audio records on way but if you press the Studio filter again in the same song, it makes a small sound and the singing quality is very different. Need the ability to filter on language as there is a lot of non-English songs. The ability to sort also by rating would be amazing. Latest update in Oct 2020 is the worst..Version: 8.9.3

I don't think I'll renew my membership when it's expired. Used to be FREE to join with minimum choices of sounds as songs.....you could join other people’s duets. ✓ This app just keeps getting worseI remember a couple years ago, this app was amazing and I loved it. But for a while now, every update has been sending it into a worse state. I remember when you didn’t have to be a VIP to post an invite, now if you aren’t willing to pay, you have to hope someone who is posts the songs you like. The autoplay button on iOS seems to have disappeared and now the song you’re listening to loops instead of going to the next song. You also can no longer switch between the song thumbnail and the map whilst viewing a song anymore. On top of this, they have replaced audio effects with a studio function that completely ruins group songs. This app seems to be removing its best features one by one and replacing anything good with something worse behind a pay wall. The worst part about this is whenever an update happens, you get notified on the app, but the notification never actually explains what happens, just that there have been “Minor improvements.” My only compliments are it still allows you to do freestyle songs, as well as upload your own without VIP, and the actual recording features still do their job well. Overall, the only way this app can get any better is if the developers actually stop and think about the features..Version: 8.9.3
✓ App Freezing Upon OpeningRecently the app has been constantly freezing whenever I open it. Sometimes I can open my invites but then it’ll freeze and I can’t do anything other than close the app. The only way I can counteract this is deleting the app then reinstalling it. This is starting to really become a pain to the point where I’m tempted to stop using the app all together. Every time I reinstall it I get stuck with the ‘tutorial’ pop-ups as if I’ve just made an account. I had hoped the update would fix this but the issue has only gotten worse. ✓ PLEASE avoid VIP subscriptionPLEASE keep the free version and avoid the VIP. I wish I can take back every dime from my VIP subscription. When I first saw this app a couple of years ago I knew it wasn’t legit and I was right. I enjoyed this app at first, but I regret buying the subscription I wish I can give this app zero stars. Also please avoid the Sing live it is a complete waste of time and is NOT worth it. It is so difficult to find songs during a sing live. I ended up singing the same songs over and over for months. There is no actual search engine during a live. It is just a simple search and pick. I understand their song library is limited but WHY?? Why do I have to pay when the whole point of VIP is to sing ANY song? Why can’t it just be free for everyone. HUGE cash grab. It feels like they are trying to convince you what they have is legit please avoid VIP. This app is a scam! What happened to playing any song? Instead you have to deal with some songs having instrumentals, some have no vocals, and many songs don’t show up at all! Very frustrating. ✓ Not for singing improvementI was looking for something to help me improve my singing as I’ve been giving a go at it for a while now and really need to practise singing in key. I can’t in good conscious give it less than 3 stars because they do give you a free trial and it is a karaoke app, but I found it by searching for apps to help you improve your singing, so I was a little disappointed to discover ‘what a good singer’ I sounded like on this app; it’s like taking your voice and using a snapchat filter to make it sound so much better than it is. ✓ Every new update leads to new problemsYou are doing 4-5 updates each month to fix minor bugs and improve experience. Dont you think its time to sit back and take a long hard look at that process. Every time you update your app to fix minor issues and bugs, you end up breaking something else that was working perfectly. Why isnt there a proper QC and UAT process to test that you have not broken something else while fixing one thing. What kind of clowns are running app development and app updates at Smule if you cannot follow this one basic principle when it comes to update. That is why you are averaging at 4-5 updates every month. How many minor bugs are there exactly and why dont you fix them all in one go and then do a proper app testing (I can help you with app testing) to check that nothing that was working earlier got broken. Come on guys - this is the basic principle behind any app update - only fix what is broken and dont break what is working unless the tech support in Bulgaria gets paid for each issue fixed and in which case they might be creating issues by deliberately breaking what was already working.Version: 11.6.9
✓ It's okay i guess....This is a app that could help you improve your singing if you want to. When I wanted to get better with my singing I found this app and it was amazing, and now my singing has improved alot. Ive made so many friends on this app and learned so many songs that i didn't even know. I dont have VIP on it since i thought joining other people would be better, BUT over time ive noticed that the price of getting VIP got higher and higher. The price started at £20 then it went to £50 and it ridiculously went to £91, the people who made this app is very greedy and desperate for money. ✓ Needs a lot of workI love this app, I use it daily and I am a significant member of the community on there, however there are MAJOR issues within the app that need addressing such as removal of parts, individual sections being edited, there is very little control in the user’s hands and that’s frustrating when attempting to create large vocal pieces that are completely ruined by poor balancing or the intrusion of children who cannot sing and tear down the entire thing. ✓ I had high expectations...I’ve heard Smule is a good app and have seen friends and others videos and thought I’d give it a go. First up, had to create an account. Once I set up the account, plugged headphones in to get singing and found my first song... I then couldn’t go any further unless I committed to a 7 day free trial in which my card will get automatically charged once the 7 days is up. I don’t understand why I can’t just sing along casually without making dumb commitments. If users want full access, go ahead and make them pay but for people who just want to sing along for some fun... it’s just not needed! ✓ Latest layout update is plain AWFUL!!!Smule The new app layout is terrible from the user perspective. 1. What used to be a very simple to navigate screen now takes several clicks to get to, e.g. to access my 100 song list I have to make more clicks 2. The menus are not intuitive at all. I have to click on “About”, then “View all” under the “Bookmarks” and then one extra click to “100 songs” To add insult to an injury, the thumbnails are so huge that it takes forever to scroll to get to the right song. The thumbnails might be good for some users who can maybe memorise them and associate each song with the thumbnail, but seriously have you seen the thumbnails? They are user generated and not consistent at all, so it is just a colourful mess!!! As a result, I’m finding myself using more and more a competitor’s app which also allows for key change of the songs as an added benefit and am questioning whether I should renew my Smule subscription!!! Last time I sent this feedback, I got a “no, we are not doing anything” for an answer. I hope you have a way of combining the user feedback and channeling it to your product managers. My fiend has a Samsung phone and put in a complaint in a conversation to me saying how the prices are different compared to V.I.P. and she is not wrong. ✓ This app used to be great!I really used to enjoy using this app. SMULE had so much potential. I would try songs often, but rarely posted them to my profile. I wish I would have done that more often. But the app was fun even for someone just looking to rehearse songs. I don’t have any complaints about the company trying to make money, but I think they have stifled their community growth by making it a service, and such an expensive service. Wow! That’s a crazy amount of money to ask someone to spend each year just to sing remade/covered sometimes bad quality vocal removed songs. And they now LOCK features like sing solo, or even start a duet behind the paywall. Personally if you want a great community of users that are always making new content for your big paying customers to work with, you would allow at least so many free solo tracks and duet starts per account per month without having to pay $99 per year to use a phone app. I really miss the days of a one time purchase, I get that this is something that needs updates and moderation to an extent, but not everything is a service and deserves rates competitive with Netflix and Disney+. All the filters have changed and they really aren’t good. I liked the basic simple ones that just made your voice a little louder. The back ground noise using them is horrible and when you listen back to your song it sounds like your singing in a cave. Please smule sort it out people don’t want these new filters we liked the old ones they were simple easy to understand and Easy to use. I use it on and off, but when I do use it it is very easy to sing songs and record them and all that technical jazz. A lot of people are now relying on wireless, bluetooth-enabled technology to get through their days. I think it would be awesome to include support for bluetooth microphones! I have wireless, bluetooth earbuds, and when I want to sing a song I am unable to do so without annoying feedback. The app doesn’t even detect that I have earbuds at all. It just says “headphones recommended” and plays the music through my phone speaker. I could just go out and buy a pair of wired headphones, but with the ongoing pandemic and the financial troubles I’m sure we’re all dealing with, it’s kind of hard to do that. I have no idea how all that technological stuff works, but I would certainly enjoy this addition to the app. Especially now, since I’m literally trapped in my house 24/7. I also remember when you could earn coins to unlock solo songs, and think maybe that would be nice to add back (maybe just for certain songs). ✓ The VIPI absolutely love having this app. But the reason I gave it 3 stars is all because of the VIP. There are so many songs that I would like to sing, but I cannot since no one else sings the songs so I cannot duet with them. So I would recommend that some of the less known songs would be free and then any of the more popular ones the user would have to duet. And the Livestreams when I first got the app anyone could do them, But now with the VIP I cannot do a livestream anymore which I liked joining more people who were my age that I could sing along with, now the VIP is mainly grown-ups so I cannot join any. So I would just ask that the VIP lifestream would be taken down so anybody can livestream again and that some of the songs anyone could do it with them and not have to have the VIP for not just artist sing-alongs. Now you have one that is opened 3 days ago but below that is one opened 2 years ago then one that was opened 6 months ago and no the user names don’t appear to be in alphabetical order. Are OCs gonna be open after 7 days or closed? Which is it? Also, what are these letter “A’s”with lines beside them in the corner of the thumbnails of some of my performances? What does that mean? Trying to listen to singers who have joined your own OCs takes longer than ever, if it even loads at all that is. The group chat feature took3:49secs to load. I use super fast broadband with a fibre internet connection, and no other app I use has this load issue. Removing the globe was also disappointing. It was really nice knowing which part of the world your duet partner was in. I have been a VIP smuler for 5 years and despite these latest changes and updates , it is still one of my favourite apps. ✓ The new updates are not goodI been using this App for 4 years as a VIP all these years BUT There is issues with new updates : (1) I wish I could use the old versions, because before I could go on ( song info ) read the lyrics and listening to the song in same time , now when u click ( song info ) the song will stop playing straightaway. Thats really annoying ( meaning you can never listen and see the lyrics in same time ) which is a very weak point as it was not like that before . (2) sometimes u like to change the photo on the song , whats the point changing it if its not showing when u play the song ?? Because thats what happens ( there is no photo and on one corner showing the original photo that the uploader used . (3) While u playing and listening to a song if accidentally you scroll down the screen it will automatically play the second song and when u go back to the song you were playing starts from beginning again . ✓ Can’t Load nor Listen to songsI have had this app for two years with a break in between. First time the app would not load and count followers, I would get messages I had new followers but they would never be added. (So could not invite them to sing with me) I researched this on their site and they simply said it doesn’t matter your number of followers just sing and have fun. Obviously something they didn’t care to investigate nor fix. When signed up again, seems first problem I mentioned was fixed, but I have had nothing but problems loading invites to sing (I get error messages or will simply change screens) and then listening to songs I have done in the past, they WILL NOT LOAD and I have emailed support innumerable times with no resolution. I am told to send them a video? How I have asked to accomplish this with no response. Best collection of tracks thoFirst I want to assure everybody that this app is not getting updated anywhere near as much as the update log would have you believe lol… it is simply compliance with Apple’s update frequency rule. App performance has never really “improved” The entire three years I’ve been using it; at times it has gotten worse and then return to normal, but I deal with the same bugs I’ve been dealing with since I started on here. If you really look through the log you’ll see that any time they make even the most minor of ACTUAL changes, they take care to point it out. The most recent actual change was a UI adjustment, that tried to help take the sting out of a recent-ish UI change that I personally dislike rather strongly. The community is pretty awesome as long as you are not a tool, and I’ve never seen a bigger collection of songs on any of the other apps. It also has slightly, to moderately less bots than the other apps I’ve seen as well. Social features suuuuuck but in some ways, I can appreciate the effect that has on the platform overall. It absolutely isn’t intentionally so lol - same low effort results. Sometimes I wonder if there is just one person programming this, that barely knows how to program. Considering the cost of a pro membership, the absolute lack of any kind of decent functionality is not really acceptable IMO. Other apps have FAR more advanced social features, and have been around for far less time..Version: 10.6.7
✓ App crashes on iPad (3rd generation) for iOS 9.3.5This app used to work for a long time before I recently reinstalled the app and tried to join other people's singing performances to no avail. The app would immediately crash every time I pressed the 'Join' button. Despite my iPad being really old, I do have an available software upgrade to iOS 9.3.6 which might solve the problem. But, I've never had to consider that option in the times that I've used the app prior to getting the crashes. Update: This app apparently also crashes on an iPhone 5 with iOS 10.3.3 (which has never happened before as I've also used the app on this particular phone). I tried to join other singers (obviously with the 'Join' button) but it would instantly crash in the same manner as the iPad. I don't know if it's because location is in Vietnam or my iPhone/iPad doesn't have the latest iOS but there is seriously a major issue with the app and I'm not happy 😡..Version: 7.8.5

It is clear that those who regularly use the app are not consulted. The only ppl who seem to like the updates are those who you actively promote. We understand exactly what the new changes are and they are horrible. We do not like them, they are limiting, and ruin the experience. ✓ Just listen to us for once!I'm 17-years-old and have been using Smule since I was 10-years-old. I remember the days when Smule was called Sing!Karaoke and non-VIP members could watch videos and earn credits to open songs. Since then, things have changed quite a bit, and the changes were originally pretty good and were executed pretty well. I used to be excited when the app would come out with a new update . . . but now I dread it. For the past 3 pr 4 years every update that you guys have put out has been garbage. You continuously supply us with things we didn't ask for and ignore our complaints. There are very simple things that we want: (1) A logout button or way to change between multiple accounts without having to delete and redownload the app. (2) The ability to unlike collabs. (3) The ability to change the cover art on songs. (4) GIVES US THE OLD FXs BACK! THE NEW SYSTEM IS HORRIBLE! (5) You actually listening to us for a change. You claim that you "hear us", but it's obvious that you don't because we still haven't received anything that we've asked for. ✓ Once a Absolute Legend of an AppI’ve been apart of the Smule community since around 2014-ish and was absolutely in love with everything about it. The fact that we can sing any song we want, the fact that we can meet a ton of cool people, and the fact that it was a really fun place. It’s this era of Smule that really did showed that you can work with regular users, and that you didn’t have a wall between paying members and regular members. Everything started going sour when you started paywalling everything possible. How on Earth can you paywall solos and songs on a KARAOKE app? You really set forth a divide from VIPs and regular users, and before you respond with the whole “You can join other people” thing THATS NOT THE POINT!!! How can you paywall songs that the community themselves made? How can you profit any more? I understand you needing to make money, but you truly took away ALL of the customization and singing options for all members that aren’t VIP. It’s really disappointing to see what this app has become, and see everything I initially loved about the app being paywalled for seemingly no reason. ✓ I love this app but unfortunately...The VIP purchase got highly out of line... (when I first got this it didn’t have to put vip in there so I was happy without it) Even though I’m able to sing with other people, the part of the problem is “I don’t think I want to sing any of these songs with them, Is there anything else I would try out?” I’ll admit that’s how I am. Because when I get invited to a duet it’s those songs, I probably don’t even know or that it’s not my favorite. ✓ Fun app but..The app itself is a fun concept and I do enjoy it. However, for an app that makes you subscribe for many features, they seem to care very little about being easy to use for everyone. As an iPhone 7 user, there is of course no headphone jack, making wired headphones annoying to deal with since it’s so easy to loose the adapters. Anyone who uses the app a lot knows that headphones make for much better quality recordings. Well, for whatever reason, the app makes it so if you use Bluetooth headphones; they disconnect when you go to record. This has been an issue for a while and I’ve seen many complaints, but with each update they make, they fail to fix that. I expect more from an app that forces you to pay for many of the features than ignoring the complaints of users. I’ll continue to use it because it is quite fun for passing time, but I unsubscribed to it and do not plan to pay for it again until they fix that issue. ✓ 2/10 The Devs are ScummyThe devs have received over 50 to 100 USD per VIP access purchased by each user yearly since 2012 and yet they have done nothing with that money except make poorly received changes that their community doesn’t ask for and minor bug fixes. All that you get from VIP is the ability to sing any song anytime (unless you uploaded a song, those you can sing regardless if you have VIP), the ability to display your mutuals on your page, you background color & background, and you can join other users songs regardless of when they expired. Non VIP users can change their profile pictures and can only join songs that VIP users have opened or songs they’ve uploaded. That’s it. They also can’t join songs that have expired. Overall, VIP isn’t worth a fraction of what they charge (it should be 25 USD yearly because of the lack of content) and because they don’t listen to criticism all the income they receive is 99.9% of the time misused if it’s not pocketed first. It’s been so many years that VIP features should be accessible by all users and should serve only to support development of the app (not that it would be utilized). It has potential but it is ultimately led by greedy weasels.Version: 9.9.3

✓ Very disappointed with this new profile updateI have been on this app for seven years it has been my outlet to share my voice with people when I couldn’t find a karaoke club. I used it to cheer up during a rough divorce and other personal headaches. I loved it when I started I even had a VIP membership for a long time but then forgot my screen name and password. Had to get a new phone So I called Smule and had the charges removed and opened a new account. This time I was ok with the limited use of certain features at least I had a list of my favorite collaborations that I could go back and listen to. But now even that has been removed from the free account. It claims I can have 100 free songs but my account shows no where near that . I’ve even deleted recent one to unlock more but still nothing. I’m pretty sure I’m going to remove the app now because What’s the point if I can’t keep anything I like. I was ok with singing with other it made for some great collaborations. ✓ Safety issuesMy son (10) loves this app. Last night however he was exposed to the negative side of humanity. We had difficulties finding how to block the offending person (thank goodness for google) then we could not kick the offender out of his live jam session. I got my son to end the session and restart another but it was the worst five minutes. There needs to be strategies in place to group children by age as last night’s offender was approximately mid to late teens and was proud of encouraging a child to find a gun, threatening harm to ethnically diverse groups and being sexually inappropriate. ✓ New version makes planned group recordings a lot more difficult.All the the new features are interesting and could be really great, but there are some things that make most of the people I know strongly prefer the previous version. Not being able to choose which filter to use, in a group recording where parts are planned, severely limits what we can do. It also makes it impossible to pick a filter that would help us blend better (our mics all sound different). Again in a group recording, integrating voice acting, beatboxing, other sorts of adlibs, backing vocals and so on, and using different effects for different singing styles, has been heavily impacted and in some cases made impossible as well. For example, it is no longer possible to record a small part of a group recording with the grunge filter, or use SF Opera for choral style backing, if everyone who joins is stuck with using Super Studio. This also makes it impossible to throw in a line or two in Super Pop, for the pitch corrected effect. Also, it would be nice to be able to see the cover image/art full size again. Hopefully these old features are returned sometime. Lots of friends from different groups/communities have been leaving..Version: 8.9.7

✓ Let us sing alone!!This app isn’t what it used to be, i’ve had this app for a few years now and all of these updates are useless or they just don’t make sense, I don’t want to join somebody else or sing with somebody else, I want to be able to sing alone but I can’t pay for the subscription. ✓ It’s amazing but needs tune upsI think this app is amazing. I am able to upload any song I want into the songbook for free and I can sing it anytime I want. I think that feature is amazing. I have been a fan of kpop for a few years and I’ve been able to express my love for this music genre through this app and I’ve made many singing buddies through live jams. The app itself is great. One thing that is an issue though, is that there is not a log out option. If you want to log out of one of your accounts you can’t. You have to delete the app and then reinstall and log in. I feel this is very inconvenient for people who have more than one account. Personally, I have gathered groups of people and created online cover groups and I have one account that is use for those group uploads and it’s basically like and online entertainment account but it’s inconvenient that there is not a log out button/option because I have to delete and reinstall each time I want to switch from my personal account to my other account. Also I think it’s a rip off that when you purchase VIP on one type of device, you don’t have VIP on another type of device. It’s very inconvenient.
