MAPS.ME: Offline Maps, GPS Nav for Negative User Reviews

It’s all gone horribly wrongI have used this app for years, used to love it but with too many add ons and updates it has become barely usable. I travel a lot so have quite a few maps downloaded but when I use the app every time I get it out of my pocket or move the map on the screen it locks and takes about 20 seconds to update. Tried removing some maps which sometimes helps a bit, have deleted the app and re installed but no better. iPhone 13Pro so not a slow phone. The new update means I can only download 10 maps unless I go Pro. I don’t mind playing for a great app but don’t want to fork out £50 a year for something that is barely usable. Trying out a replacement map app which is a shame as it used to be fantastic..Version: 15.4.1

Starting to go downhill…This app was by far a 5 star app for a long time. Over the past year or so, we’ve gotten a lot of ads shoved in the app. The implementation has been a bit annoying and in your face. At the same time, there’s been no fixes to long-standing issues or annoyances whatsoever. (Labels and lines on map are kinda small, dark mode’s map is basically unreadable thanks to the map colors, etc…) I don’t want to move away from this app, as it really checks all the boxes. But paying for the app seems silly with it being a very expensive subscription, and that the “Hub” section is entirely an ad sheet that I assume won’t go away when you buy it..Version: 15.4.1

Used to be the best offline maps, but horrific design choices have ruined itNo complaints about the mapping data, this is just a platform to display open source map data. This used to be an efficient, lightweight, good user experience. I’ve used it for many years and recommended it to heaps of people. The last few updates have completely ruined that. Why on earth does route planning now take up half the screen? I want to see the map not a bunch of empty space surrounding meaningless descriptions of weigh points. I can’t even hide that menu like you use to be able, trying to dismiss it cancels the route entirely. Buttons have grown in size astronomically, maybe the designers think they look prettier but they are so much worse to use. Click on an object on the map and you get another pop up screen that takes up absurd amounts of useful space, this used to take up maybe a 5th of the screen to display two lines of information and had identical functionality, now you can’t even fit all the buttons in that window despite the same two lines of information taking up twice as much space. Design should complement functionality, not just add useless blank spaces everywhere. Look at how you did it a year ago, it was so much better..Version: 14.1.6

Things that wereIt’s a good app, with free offline maps. Well, it used to be. Now you have to pay a significant subscription fee to have more than a couple of offline maps. No thanks. No money gouging..Version: 15.5.0

First impression: crap appDoes not allow one to select 2 places & calculate route between them. One of the places has to be current location, so useless for planning routes. There may be something buried in the app to do this bit not obvious from the user interface but why not just have a Start & Finish dialogue, rather than defaulting to a 'Current Location', which seems to be determined by the last time one was connected to the internet. Also, a pop-up appears if one is offline, demanding that one connects to the internet; pretty stupid for an app that is claimed to be one of the best for offline maps. Couldn't get passed these problems, so will revert to Google Maps; at least that behaves sensibly. All in all, pretty useless as an offline map & routing app..Version: 8.2.10

Pro?Pro? Good job ruining what used to be a great app. Edit: the app is so bad now I had to knock it down to one star and cancel my old subscription, it’s really sad to see nice things get ruined..Version: 15.3.0

Poor navigationI tried this app both offline and online in a pretty rural area that I know well of Connecticut and I really am not convinced I could trust it when abroad. First, the directions are very basic, no indication of any kind about the exit numbers or general directions to follow, no indications about stops and sometimes, it got very confused with curved roads telling me to keep left or right for no reason. It just says turn right, turn left, that’s it. You better keep an eye on the screen to understand where you go. Second, it does not choose the shortest route. When on my way home from point A, it told me to exit then instead of turning right, it was going straight, back to the highway I just left?????? And finally, searching an address should be simple bit within this app, it is just a nightmare, you never know what to input first: state? Town? Street? Number? Who designed this? I mean, I entered my home address, it did not find it the way it is recorded by the postal services! Why not guide the user in how to input the address? Now, given the poorness of navigating in a “rural” area, I don’t think this is going to work in Paris, France… I grew up in Paris’s outskirts and this thing is going to lose me..Version: 12.3.5

App not working and no assistance to fix itI used this App everyday and one day it just wouldn’t open anymore, it just kicks you back out and closes. I’ve numerously asked why this is and I have never even been given the courtesy of a single reply. Now that their main opposition has become offline also, you’ve given me no choice to use their app. Disappointed as you would think they would take better care of their loyal users. No customer service skills at all and that will cost you a lot of users..Version: 14.3.2

Used to be greatThey're trying to shove the paying sub down your throat. What used to be free with occasional ad is now a "pro" feature. Essentially gutting anything useful out of the app. Feels like I'm going to have to find a new offline map app.Version: 15.3.0

Still not goodDespite the latest version installed, and a nice word from a developer there is still no way to get a full screen view of the map once you have chosen a route. The only way is to actually start the routing option. But I want to see the full route on my map not just an arrow or a partial view of my entire route..Version: 14.1.8

Once great, now stylised rubbishWhy, oh why? I’ve used this app for years, suddenly it’s updated and is utter junk. Does nobody check these updates for usability and reasonableness before they get sent into the wilderness? Updating maps used to just be 1 button, not any more. Deleting maps seemingly can’t be done. Wallet? Really? UPDATE: I’ve been asked to update my review by the developer because they’ve “made some adjustments and we hope that you find it more user friendly”. Hilariously, I am now unable to even download maps. The button does nothing. Nothing at all. The only way to download maps is to zoom in the map until prompted to download. Interestingly, they do appear to have fixed the problem of deleting individual maps. While I’m here, why does the app now mess with the rotation of my iPad? If I use the app in landscape mode, it will show some things in landscape, others (like the useless wallet) force a portrait mode. Really, just listen to all of the reviews here telling you to restore the old app and move on..Version: 14.1.8

Used to be great off-line maps choiceLooking for another product since limit of 10 maps within paid subscription introduced recently - Australia only downloaded 10 of 11 maps after deleting and reinstall. Still plagued by low download speeds and downloaded more likely to fail. Have used for years and loved the ability to place pins on places of interest. Disappointed with changes..Version: 15.1.0

Every update makes it worseSadly. Like lots of Apps. The developers can’t help themselves with endless updates and over complications. Otherwise I suppose they don’t have a job. What was by far the best free offline navigation and mapping App has become a blotted unusable App full of useless features that hide what was once good, behind what is not wanted or needed..Version: 14.8.2

Disappointed in this app waste of moneyWhen I bought the upgrade, it said I had three days to cancel in settings. I cannot find where in settings it is to cancel. The app is not working properly. I don’t want to be stuck with another useless app…..please cancel my upgrade..Version: 15.3.0

Please change the way you show elevationI actually really like the app. However, in the latest update when planning a route between two points say for walking or bike riding rather than showing the actual elevation change you now get the highest and lowest point above sea level. This means you need to use the map to try and workout what the actual elevation changes will be. Any chance you could go back to showing the actual elevation gain and loss for a given route? Or show both? Or give an option?.Version: 14.7.0

Completely ruined from what it used to beThis used to be my favorite map app, but now all of the added features have considerably slowed it down. You’ll notice that many of the 5 star reviews are several years old. When I open the map and it searches for my location, it often takes me to the middle of the ocean before it gets confused and freezes. Searching usually causes it to freeze and when you just want to do a quick search, there are too many hoops to jump through to see what you’re looking for. If you don’t type fast enough, the search will ignore the first letters you type and only search for the last letters which is completely useless. I used to be able to change the color of a pin with one click, but now you have to hit at least 4 clicks just to change a color. I have ignored all of this annoyance and the fact that many locations are missing making it inferior to other similar maps anyway, but now they want you to pay for a lower quality map seems like pure greed. With the unpaid version, you can only download 10 maps at a time, but the maps seem to be smaller so if you’re on a road trip, good luck being able to download all the maps you need without being asked to pay. Not to mention that I have deleted maps several times only for them to automatically redownload so that it appears I have reached my map capacity again. As a long time user I can say it used to be much better before they tried to turn it into a paid product..Version: 15.3.0

Great for offline maps - not great to use in carI only use this app when I go abroad and can’t access google maps freely, I was recently doing a road trip in Canada so I upgraded to the paid version so I could link it to the car display. Sadly this was terrible at critical times, ie when approaching junctions/turnings, as the map on the car screen display would go all over the place whenever I started to slow down. My partner had to hold the phone and guide me in these situations because the car connectivity was pointless. I also found the indications were often incorrect, I get that sometimes maps think there’s a turning when in reality it’s only a curve on the road, but this happened so often it was annoying, then there were also directions like “continue straight ahead” when actually what was meant was “exit on the right”. I also found the app struggles to find places when a full address is provided which is a bit pointless. As soon as I returned home I cancelled my subscription and will try and find another alternative next time I need an offline map for driving directions..Version: 14.6.2

WAS the best app - “improvements” have ruined itI have used this app for over a decade. The offline access has been lifesaving more than once. It has let me follow hiking and skiing trails in the backcountry of the US and Europe that don’t show up in anyone else’s map app, online or offline. It has helped me navigate driving through confusing roads where offline was the only choice and nothing else would work. I don’t mind paying but to go from free to full pay is a slap. While I do appreciate that the free version still offers some map access, many new features recently added have slowed it down and make it crash sometimes, so I am hesitant already to pay for something that is becoming unstable. This was an elegant lifesaver for me for many years. Now I can’t rely on it online or offline anymore. I hope the developers can get back to basics - i.e. ensure it WORKS - and also consider offering either monthly (not just annual) subscriptions or graded subscriptions (e.g. 10 maps free, 20 maps for a year for $20, all maps for a year for $50)..Version: 15.6.0

Clunky Car PlayDon’t want to beat on this app too much, but now you find yourselves in the world of apple car play, it’s clunky as hell and your rating has earns a demotion. The 3D map view in car play disappears very easily and only gives me bird's eye and the zoom function is pretty horrific. Zoom out only gives you zoom out twice before it sends you to space, which doesn’t matter anyways, because once I accept international space station view, it zooms straight back into face on the floor view. Also searching for towns over 100 other similar names roads (Windermere for example) should always take priority, which it does not..Version: 14.4.6

Restore the old app functionalityFor the past months your app has been remdered completely useless by “updates”. Number of app crashes has now gone up to 9 out of 10 at app startup. When it barely works it doesn’t last more than a few minutes. Downloading new maps became a nightmare. Search function is cumbersome and slow (when it doesn’t crash the app) . Unnecessary features no one bothers to use. Moreover, I have lost bookmarks added over 3 years of working travels. Please let me know when you have a working version ( like the older ones were) and when you have my updates restored. Update, 18 February 2023 : Good afternoon. Today I made the mistake of downloading your cripple, faulty, useless app again. After the first couple of dozen crashes I managed to download the maps for Scotland and then (after a few more crashes) I managed to import the bookmarks file you send. I am absolutely scunnered by the result - hundreds of bookmarks are missing! At this point I am taking this as an insult and a sign of mockery from your incompetent employees. Please find a way to provide my full bookmarks and a functional app..Version: 14.2.22

Most disappointedI have been in Indonesia for two weeks using this app and I must say it was fantastic until the latest update now it flips pages over crashes every time I use it. Have trouble restarting it. Virtually unusable now what a shame I was so impressed before but now you are constantly trying to get the map page up because it keeps putting you into settings. Please sort out because before it was the best. More information it’s the debug page that pops up over the map. Have loaded it onto my oppo phone and it’s ok on that phone but not my iPhone.Version: 14.4.0

DOES NOT WORK ON IPAD. KEEPS FREEZINGHello, After writing 3 emails, waiting 6 months for a reply I have given up, but as the title suggests the app keeps on freezing when using an IPad. I’ve tried everything deleting the app, re starting etc etc. While it works well on the IPhone, for some reason it doesn’t on the IPad and the company will not answer any emails. It is such a shame as in general the app is fantastic. But its not much use if: A. You can only do one thing, then the app freezes, and you have to close the app totally and re start it. B. If the company will not even communicate with the public when there are problems to help the betterment of the app..Version: 13.0.0

Utterly ruined a brilliant appI have used this app for years and recommended it to others. Today I uninstalled it as it was no longer functioning. When I opened it the map would keep scrolling downwards and I couldn’t stop it. It went down the UK into France and suggested downloading the map of Brittany! Then a box says a map update download has failed, I click retry and a large screen invites me to pay a subscription to get more than 10 maps. I already have 14 of the UK maps but now I can’t choose which I’m permitted to update. Prior to removing the app, I shared my bookmarks lists to myself so that they can be imported to another app. I’m delighted to discover Organic Maps which is basically the same as Maps Me before it got corrupted by additional features..Version: 14.8.1

Recent updateHaving used this app for several years I was very disappointed with the most recent update. Whole or large parts of countries are missing, the app frequently crashes, battery drain while downloading maps is awful, trying to download more than two maps simultaneously causes the app to stall and not complete the map download. If you are able to download a map, the rather poor search function is now even worse, not even finding simple place names or roads, even when zoomed in and the object that one is searching for is the only thing visible on the map. It is a real shame as I have used this app extensively through many countries over the last 3 or 4 years and it is now too unreliable and glitchy to use. I would avoid wasting time on this app until it has been updated correctly..Version: 11.0.0

Used to be goodThe app over the last year has had a lot of glitches and been crashing a lot but since it was free I never complained since this map app has saved many times where I didn’t have signal but I had downloaded the maps for offline use ahead of time. But now they are limiting the amount of maps you can have for offline use and the app still crashes consistently when updating maps and it has a hard time centering when initializing and finally most annoyingly the syncing doesn’t work at all, I have multiple devices and I have to add bookmarks on each device separately and re-add them all every time I upgrade. Even with all those complaints, it was free so I was happy. But now … It still has a clunky interface. And the amount they’re asking for the Pro subscription I would rather buy a legit map program at a cheaper price. Very disappointing to see this app go paid..Version: 14.6.2

Can’t select a one month subscription. Defaults to one year.I tried to select a one month subscription and the system changed it to one year with no real chance to make a correction. I tried to change the subscription and was unable to. I cannot figure out how to cancel the sub either. Other than the subscription issues, the app is fine. I just needed it for a short term visit to another country..Version: 15.4.1

Not really sureI don’t know how well the app operates in other nations but for me i only use this app in countries that have poor infrastructure that can’t provide wifi with a cheap enough price. And i did use it in Vietnam. Got to say the map can use a lot of improvement with the search option. The app probably can’t update fully enough to have everything with a name on it so I suggest you make it so that the search can find intersections between 2 roads or 2 streets. That will really save us a huge amount of time. I give it 3* because it functions as it suppose to be but it need improvement to be 4* and you simply can’t have a perfect 5* without bias..Version: 8.6.0

I need other features, ...Darn, thought I had found the map I need, ... guess not, ... this is missing things that a number of other maps already have, ... but is “supposed” to have stuff for hikers, outdoorsmen, (kayak fishing), ... like the location of “all” boat ramps, put in/take out points, marina repair, etcetera, ... for canoeing, kayaking, or float tube drifting, ... And I also need a marine version, that would include specific features, like area weather reports, current flow, depth charts, & user feedback notations for waypoints, ... in addition to including time of day moon/sun rise charts, ...Sure! Having hiking trail info would be great, I guess, but being able to also camp, fish, clean, & cook, plus places to rest overnite, including temporary shelters, would be a max enjoyable experience, ... maybe the developers could actually manage something of this magnitude? But then maybe not, I’ll have to stick to my Google maps for now I s’pose, .., great, but not detailed enough for me, ....Version: 10.1.2

Greedy companyTerrible UX.Version: 15.2.0

Great, but getting annoyingI’ve used this app for years for hiking. I’ve no problem with only being able to download a limited number of maps free, as that’s enough for me. But right now, for the last few weeks, every time I open the app it flashes up that I have only 4 hours left to get a bargain subscription deal. It’s a blooming long 4 hours! And the splash screen holds for several seconds before I can clear it. It’s one sure way of pushing me across to Gaia, the strong competition..Version: 15.4.1

Audio doesn’t work sometimesIt was a good before but when the PRO kicked in, the app didn’t work so well as the audio which tell me when to turn or how far to go , sometimes work and sometimes doesn’t and it happens randomly. I have tried restarting, even stopped the car and restarting the car entirely, sometimes get back on and sometimes don’t. I really need to audio to help me when I am driving. If keep happening, then I have to find another GPS app for directions.Version: 15.5.0

Seems to be getting worse, not betterI’ve had the app for several years. It once helped a friend and I find a remote trail on a Mexican volcano. I’ve used it several times in remote areas without cell service. While the turn directions were almost too many at times, I appreciated that the app could get me somewhere until I had service. As of late, however, I get no more voice from the app, it keeps telling me to turn on location services when it already is turned in, tells me to backup bookmarks, and hasn’t played well with CarPlay - not updating time nor distance and often locking up. I considered a subscription, but not if it’s like this now. Today, just to see how much the Pro subscription is, I tried to look by pressing the button in the app. It says there’s no internet connection, even though I have allowed cellular data, am on wifi, and every other app I’m using is working..Version: 14.6.1

Bad when out of wifiShows us out in the middle of an ocean even though I have charts downloaded, says I need to! Several wrong turns then the immediate U turns. Doesn’t interface well on CarPlay unless app and car system rebooted. When coming up to traffic circles on CarPlay top right indicator always says 1 in the center, the auto zoom is in so tight you can’t see which exit is correct. Poor programming..Version: 15.4.1

Pos- Don't ware your time!I thought about trying a new offline maps. Never used anything so bad. Won't find a street address when I'm connected to the internet at home. When I search a street with the suburb it show the closest first and not the suburb I put. What is the point of an app that is to be used when you have no data, but can't even find the right suburb, let alone an address. And the route it eventually found is the worst and slowest one. Maybe it's just because it's Australia and no one gives two stuffs about doing a good job for a small market. Deleting..Version: 9.1.10

Was greatNow the open add sits full screen for 5 seconds before giving you a close option. Geez I hate going back to Gaia but guess were being forced that way..Version: 15.6.0

Not worth itI’ve used this app for years, and it’s been buggy for a long time. I don’t recall ever being able to type in, for example, a residential address with a house number and the app be able to find it. I had better luck just typing in a street name instead or zooming in on the map to find the approximate area that I was looking for, which is not really ideal. I was surprised to find the app was suddenly changed to a subscription model. I am for developers getting paid, but the yearly subscription price, to me, is not worth it. I mainly had this app in case I lost my cell service when traveling. For the cost of the subscription, I could just buy a used GPS device even if the maps to it might not be up to date and use that if I lose my cell service when traveling. If the subscription cost was A LOT lower or if it was a one-time app buy, then it might be worth it to me..Version: 14.6.2

Still has issues with locationI had issues on my iPad Pro gen 1 several years ago and I've recently bought a 2nd hand iPad gen 1 again to use for work however still has the exact same issue where the real-time location is buggy and doesn't work. Hopefully this can be fixed! For now will stick with Avenza.Version: 14.1.9

Unsure who this app is forI’m not sure who this app is for, but I guess it isn’t meant for me. I read an article singing it’s praises as a Google Maps alternative, but from that lens it’s not anywhere close. Not even an Apple Maps replacement. On opening it downloaded maps for Los Angeles, which was fine. But when I typed in a city I plan to drive to soon, it couldn’t find it. Maybe it needs the maps downloaded for that city? But no prompt, just a list of suggestions that vaguely sound like that town. Okay… so I checked out the “sights” section, it gave a random list of parks and churches nearby. 0 reviews listed for any of the places. Okay, I’ll write some for them to help this app out. No way to submit a review. Are there any existing reviews, or where are they being scraped from? There’s also some sort of crypto wallet I guess? Why my map would need that, I don’t know. I tried to look at it but couldn’t without signing up with my phone number. The ruler thing is a cool idea, you can drop pins and get a measurement of the distance. That’s a cool idea. However I tried to measure my neighborhood run of 2 miles and after 9 pins it just ends. It couldn’t even measure a 2 mile run. This might be a cool app for travelers based off other reviews, but if offline maps is the main attraction, Google maps also does this..Version: 14.4.0

Bookmarks not workingHey team, love the app and have used it personally and professionally heaps. BUT BUT BUT. The recent update has rendered bookmarks/favourites useless as it just freezes the entire app. Please can you fix this ASAP? Myself and colleagues have emailed about this issue without any response from the contact desk which isn’t heartening. Using iOS and would love for the favourites tab to be back up and running please - thank you..Version: 14.0.2

Good but no longer freeThis is now a paid app. 7.99$ per month or 69.99$ per year. Free 3 day trail then they charge 69.99. Wish they would say this before wasting my time downloading the app. I’ve used this in the past and it is good, but for the times I need it, not worth paying a monthly fee..Version: 15.5.0

A shadow of its former selfThis used to be an excellent app. You could visit a city like Paris, zoom in on a landmark and get all sorts of useful information about it, along with further links. Sort of like having a tour book in your hand. It was also possible to purchase reasonably priced add-ons like walking tours that would display a route with recommended stops and info about each. All of this is gone, despite the fact that guides are mentioned in their write-up. And don’t bother to contact the developer who bought Maps.me. All you’ll get is a form response that promises much but delivers little. Too bad this app changed hands. It was a sweet tool once..Version: 12.3.2

Wanted me to go the wrong way around a roundabout lolRoute choices are far from the best. Tested it in my hometown and it tried to send me the wrong way around a large major city roundabout lol!! Also, it took a non-logical route you would never take if you knew the town. Tried a common dirt road I’ve driven plenty of times (50km/h) and it said it would take 8hrs to drive 15km. Double lol. Functionality is nice though. Wouldn’t rely upon it in Australia though for above reasons. Google maps has offline maps and going back to them..Version: 14.4.3

Sharing bookmarks feature doesn’t workGreat app, but the feature to share bookmarks with limited access doesn’t work anymore. It says file upload failed. Also the public access sharing of bookmarks doesn’t work..Version: 12.0.3

Was superb - sadly, now uselessUpdate 2021: Oh dear. Using this via Bluetooth to my bike helmet I’ve realised that it has a serious problem with roundabouts - although on-screen routing is correct, it sometimes (often) counts exits anti-clockwise instead of clockwise, meaning the voice directions will be saying “take the first exit” when the actual onscreen route is showing the opposite direction (3rd exit). It gets the wrong number of exits on some roundabouts too (tonight I had “take the 4th exit” at a 3 exit roundabout!). This makes the spoken turn-by-turn useless. My Previous Reviews (from years gone by): Last night I got lost in Korea (first day in Suwon, at night it all looked very different) - so when I finally got back to the hotel, I downloaded this. And it's superb - does exactly what you want. Downloaded the whole map of Korea with routing (79M - not bad) on the hotel wifi, set a few favourite locations (the hotel, the HQ of a well known Korean electronics company, etc), and no more problems - a life saver when you leave the office at 11pm. Recommended to anyone travelling to far flung places (Korea might have near-magical mobile networks for the locals, but for "Foreigners" it's well expensive - like 20 times more expensive than the UK, so this is the best thing ever). Update: Saved me again, this time in Cyprus. Hoping it's as good when I fly out to San Francisco at the weekend.....Version: 12.3.2

Some great features, but go with Google mapsDoesn’t work in landscape mode on M1 iPad. Frustrating since that’s the orientation I have it with a keyboard attached. Massive amount of work needs to be done on all the dialogue boxes on the side, the pop up and disappear and you need to start again constantly for the task you’re doing. You’ve got to work out how to allow downloading maps in the background. I’m on the brightest iPad screen setting, the maps are so dark. Heaps of detail on the map, they’re great. Can I share my pins and mail with someone? Doesn’t look like I can. Can’t sign in to the same account on 2 devices and see your pins etc. what’s the point of an account???!!! No, you don’t need my phone number..Version: 14.2.14

TerribleThis is a terrible driving map. It constantly wants you to exit the highway just to go right back on. You can’t trust it when it says to exit because it always wants you to exit. If you have lots of time and gas then this is the app for you..Version: 14.4.6

Maps.me 2 is 2 fail.Please bring back the old version..Version: 11.0.0

Old version was better### May 20, 2018 ### The app seems to be draining battery, so I try not to use the app when battery level is low. ### Original Post ### I liked the old version of the app much better than the new one. The old one allowed me to download small data without downloading the data for navigation, and the old one did not ask me to turn on the location service every time when I launched the app. The new one forces me to download large data and keeps asking me to turn on the location service. If this map can be used offline, I do not know why the app keeps asking me to turn on the location service. I am very disappointed with the new one (1 star), but it may be still better than other offline map apps (+ 1star)..Version: 8.2.4

Keeps stopping and crashingIt's a great idea having offline maps, apart from the annoyingly robotic voice giving directions in a bad American accent and not pronouncing names correctly (like saying 'Derr-ham' for Durham). However, worse than that: the app frequently just stops working when I'm driving and the iPhone just shows the home screen. I stop and restart the app but the destination has gone and I have to re-enter and search for it again. Then resume my journey hoping to arrive before it crashes again. I guess I'll just delete the whole annoying thing now that good old reliable Google Maps allow me to download maps for offline use, eh...?.Version: 7.6.1

Offline capabilities are great but a few problemsI like this app. The ability to download offline maps is really great. The only problem is that you can’t search for street addresses, only for attractions, recreational areas, etc. You can add a custom pin on a map in which it will navigate to you, but if you don’t know where it is, you can’t. Also the ETA to certain destinations can be off, especially offline. Unlike Google Maps, biking and walking directions are available offline. The navigation system is not the best but works. Unless you walk or bike a lot, or want to download a very large area (like an entire country), I would recommend downloading an offline map with Google Maps, but in any other situation I would recommend this app..Version: 8.2.3

GREAT idea but needs LOTS of workI love the idea of this app - especially as a NYC dweller who always finds myself needing to look up destinations on the subway with no internet connection. I downloaded the NYC map and then tried searching for a destination. Even though I had internet connection, it couldn’t find ANY locations for names of businesses I typed in... frequent destinations that show up #1 on a simple Google search. So I tried to type in the address, which is extremely annoying in an age where no one memorizes addresses or phone numbers anymore, but it literally couldn’t find ANY address. Not a single one. Finally, your nail in the coffin was that there’s zero support for subway directions, which is the only way I get around. A LOT of people in NYC could seriously benefit from this app (since lack of internet on the subway drives us all nuts) but not without transit directions, and DEFINITELY not if you can’t find anything. I’ll revise this rating if you get functionality, because I want this app so badly and would even pay for it, but honestly it’s not ready so I’m deleting it..Version: 7.6.5

Good but glitchedI started using this when I had a limited-data contract and still prefer it to Google Maps in many ways: it works with no connection, everything is on-device so no lag, it can tell you a straight-line distance to anywhere instantly. But there are some glitches now: I can’t switch the units to miles for some reason, whatever I do. Also, its function to instantly give you a straight-line distance to somewhere (which used to be hugely useful since it took no time to plan a route) is now broken for really close distances. Looking at some points just a few buildings down my road, they’re measured as 290 metres, then almost next door 570, then suddenly 910, then back to 200 (probably accurate). I only get this for near distances, further distances measure accurately. I’m glad to hear from the developers below-stay safe guys!-and hope they can turn things around..Version: 9.6.1

Recent changes make it less usable and usefulUsed this for many years , both for urban maps and even hiking. The recent updates mean that opening the app is hit or miss depending on wifi/sigma) I.E. the app fails to revert to offline usually now if there is a potential data option but gets stuck) and removing altitude and speed information is very unhelpful. I’ll give it a bit longer but hope they listen to feedback and restore some of the best features..Version: 14.1.0

This app is ruinedWas my go to app. Simple and intuitive interface with amazing offline capabilities. Now it’s been updated and it’s a disaster. Firstly, from a style point of view, there is nothing to really differentiate this with other mainstream mapping services. Probably because they are now using map box. But the charm and simplicity of the original map style has been lost. This alone justifies me binning this app, but the real tragedy is the terrible offline support. Entire regions don’t appear to be available and it’s not easy to tell if you are using actually downloaded maps, or just some cached maps which might not be available when you restart the app. The final nail in the coffin for me was that, over a period of four years, I built up a huge collection of pinned locations from all my travels around the world. These have now all become unknown bookmarks. It was a great app in its day, with some killer features that differentiated it from the likes of Google Earth and Apple Maps. Unfortunately the developer has tried too hard to update it, and in doing so has ruined the things that made it great. Stick to Apple Maps now. Unless the developer sees the light and roles back to the previous version..Version: 11.0.0

Pretty worthless for a nav appUnable to search for a specific address. It will find a street. But where on that street you want to go is up to you. So you have to know where you're going and perhaps use the app for routing and turn by turn. Even that is a pain for data entry as you need to enter a cross street. Well, again you have to know where you want to go before you can enter the cross street it's near. As the GIS maps I'm familiar with have address capability, my curiosity got to me. Seems apps that use GIS addresses are widgets or plug-ins, computer based and require the internet (not off-line). So don't expect this app to be updated for address capability. 2 stars is somewhat of a gift. For me, the app is useless. I frankly don't get the favorable reviews..Version: 8.2.10

Works Fine Until It’s NeededI’ve been using it regularly for the first time in Europe because I haven’t got mobile data here. It works fine, until your a distance into the route and make a wrong turn, at this point it has hung every time. The app has to be killed and then you have to reset the route and it will then after an age reroute. Exactly the wrong thing. Are the beginning of the trip it seems to reroute more easily, but after an hour. Completely useless. The turn navigation is also pretty average for highway driving. Told me to keep straight on the Highway and complement missed that the Highway split. Will tell you to trim right, but miss that the highway splits and then has two exits. This last bit can be overcome by carefully looking at the map , the road signs and using your judgement. It would also be handy if it told which exit of a highway to take, because it just says exit right, with no indication in which direction, exit etc you are supposed to take..Version: 14.2.16

Suddenly subscriptionThis is my in case staff map application. I never really use it but like to have the maps downloaded because it will work off GPS with no cell service, previously had downloaded over 12 GB of maps of North America. With the latest update, all of a sudden I am over the allowable limit of maps, and it requires a ongoing subscription to download more than 10 Mabs, California alone has more than 10 maps the way they’re broken up. I like the app and I don’t mind paying for an application, but I am NOT paying in perpetuity, especially for some thing that ideally wont meed to use. I would love a one time purchase version, more stripped down and bare bones like this used to be years ago without the extra fat. No voice guidance would be fine with me, just an address search, wouldn’t even mind planning out my own routes, some long as I can search for my destination, like A map as if I pulled it out of my glove box would be great. I have no problem paying a one time fee, or buying maps for a one time fee..Version: 14.7.0

Search box in the way on CarplayThe search box takes up half the screen on Carplay when not in navigation mode ie. not routing to a destination. Sometimes it’s nice just to have the map displayed, but half of it is lost with the search box. Can’t they put a small icon or field at the top of the screen that says “Search” that would open up the search options? Also would be great to have live traffic displayed. Another snag is that on Carplay when selecting display mode to auto, it goes to night mode! Another snag is sometimes the current position doesn’t automatically update and leave the map frozen. Lots of snags to work on guys!.Version: 14.6.2

Don’t update to version 11. New Zealand offline mapsDon’t update to version 11. It was so useful app and now it’s just average map, so disappointed. New Zealand offline maps just disappeared and now you can’t route through the hiking tracks at all, how to downgrade app to version 10?.Version: 11.0.0

Greedy developerApp is no longer the maps.me we all loved years ago. Ruined by greedy developers..Version: 15.1.0

Now just a money grabIt is with great dismay that I am writing this review. I’ve been using maps.me for years on end and across the world, made a plethora of contributions and edits to the maps, and it was a great all round offline map for navigation and venturing out into the wilds. Now the so-called pro version has a monthly or yearly subscription, which for $7 is not a cheap feat. Moreover, the 10 complimentary free maps is a joke. It used to be that each province served as one whole map; now each area of the province, and major cities. serves as one whole map. Very shady and dishonest tactics aimed at generating profit unfortunately..Version: 15.2.0

Not so happy with V2 (modified again)October 2022 just updated and still issues with the iPad not responding to touch reliably. To move the map I have to turn the liPad to portrait mode, most of the issues are when the iPad is landscape. I have no issues with any other app, this is on a newish iPad Pro.(notM1)“Last two updates have made this useless,I have used this app for many years, and have always been happy with its simple, no frills mapping. However since the last two updates it freezes, it may work for a bit but usually after a menu option it just becomes unresponsive. I have to fully shut it down. Another update and still freezes after using the menu on my iPad.”.Version: 14.2.0

Now wants money to access maps I have usedI have used this App for years. I have tagged places all over the world that I have photographed and place I want to photograph and have made notes on the best conditions. Now Maps Me wants me to pay to access these maps as I have downloaded more than 10 maps! I can’t open the pins to recover the information I spent hours researching each place! I was given no warning that they were changing the rules and making users pay to use their App. I didn’t even get to choose which 10mins I was allowed to “keep” using! Really poor customer service! If I could give ZERO stars I would!!!!!!.Version: 14.8.1

They Ruined This AppThis app was amazing. I honestly used it daily. I spent years travelling around the world, meticulously bookmarking all of my favourite hikes, places I’ve stayed, restaurants, etc. And now none of them are accessible. I literally can’t zoom in to see any of the bookmarks I’ve created because they are all hidden behind a paywall now. It’s infuriating. My cousin is going to South Korea (where I lived for 3 years), and I can’t see any of the places I pinned to share with them. I recommend this app to EVERYONE back in the day. Seriously got me out of so many jams when I didn’t have data or cell reception. Probably saved my life. And now it’s garbage, unless you’re cool with shelling out a chunk of change every year. There were always a bunch of good offline map programs that you had to shell out for - that’s what made maps.me different. Now it’s just like the rest of them. I’m sad, infuriated, frustrated, and annoyed. You NEED to remove all the reviews that were made when this app was free, because I feel like it is completely misrepresenting what your app is now..Version: 15.7.0

Non existent surveyEvery time I open the app I have a full page splash screen asking me to do a survey. I also get a push notification appear asking me to do a survey. There’s a notification on the wallet that pops up the full page splash page for the survey. But the survey doesn’t exist! When I click on the button to do the survey, an alert message pops up to say there’s no survey available. This means I get bugged multiple times to do a survey I cannot complete which is quite frustrating..Version: 14.4.0

It gets more and more spammyIt is great because it works offline and it is free however the route offered for cycling are often wrong and unusable. I had cases in France and Latin America for instance where it would offer me huge detours for no reason. If there is a road I don’t need to cycle along that road in the bushes going up and down on the hills next to it? And when he offered a staircase instead of following the normal road winding up the mountain? Or giving me the option to use a downhill extremely steep descent on the bed of a torrent? Very odd. And it is probably not optimised for the iPhone mini because on the graph of the altitude there is a big button covering most of it! The worst part however is that since I upgrade the spammy advertising gets worse. Every time I open the app there is a fox greeting me with some bull I don’t even read because I’m trying to close it and I’m cycling! Now there is an even one with some kind of credit card they are offering. Makes no sense. Why would I order a credit card through this app? Beats me! They ask me for feedback and it is prepopulated with 5 stars already so when I clicked I gave 5 stars feedback. Really? Just for this I take one star down my rating. This is a very dishonest practice!.Version: 14.4.1

Used to be goodThis used to be a really great application but now, every time I open it, there is a banner urging me to upgrade to “Pro “ that basically makes the app useless. If it were a one time purchase that would be okay and worth it but a monthly subscription- not a chance..Version: 15.7.0

Pas facile la nouvelle façon de faire!Pas facile la nouvelle façon de faire!.Version: 15.4.1

Monthly Subscription Not Acceptable For Infrequent NeedThe original simple version was outstanding. As long as I had GPS reception I could track my location anywhere on Earth without a cellular signal. That is all I want it for. I am more than willing to pay a reasonable one time fee but I will not pay continuously for something I only use a two or three times a year. I am also not willing to pay for a ton of features I would never use. I just want continuous GPS offline map tracking down to sufficient detail to locate nearby cities, towns, etc. and major roads. Although not in original version, speed, altitude, and direction, simply overlayed in a corner of the map, would be a really nice feature..Version: 15.4.1

Has gone downhillThis was a great app until recent ownership change..Version: 15.5.0

New Glitch on iPadThis is by far the best App out there. I have been using it for many years. Not needed the internet after installing maps is a huge bonus. After the new update I have not been able to search for a please after typing the first letter it just spins and spins leaving me to shut down left and not able to find a location. I ended up resorting to typing the location in another place and had paste it in the search bar. Not ideal and very time consuming. Could you please look into this. Thanks your continued supporter..Version: 14.6.1

New UI, Less MapsThe new updated UI and features look really nice, but their is no longer any offline maps available for my region. Considering this feature is in the name of the app, this is very disappointing to me. I will be moving onto something else..Version: 11.0.0

Used to be the perfect appThe app used to be the best for travel and offline maps. I was using it since 2015. Unfortunately, they recently limited the number of free offline maps which is the main use of this app compared to google maps or other application. Should definitively review this decision as you will loose a lot of your users. Add advertisements for every map downloaded or other means of monetization but don't limit the number of maps..Version: 15.3.0

Used to be greatThis used to be my favourite offline maps.. but now if you have more than 1 city- they make u pay money for it with subscriptions.. i just want some maps downloaded to my phone for places i travel to so i can quickly check the streets without using data.. not worth anymore, so sad :(.Version: 15.6.0

Rip off time has begun!!!I have used this for years and it was a really good program, didn’t require being on-line to be useful. Not always accurate but always free. Now the new name for this should be Maps.Fee. I will be removing this as soon as I can and I recommend that you DO NOT DOWNLOAD unless you have lots of money to throw away! Dear Developer….don’t bother answering with the cookie-cutter, boiler plate crap you usually add to any criticism. Nobody believes you!.Version: 15.3.0

Undocumented changes limit functionalityApp is ok, better than other offline mapping products I’ve used, but the developer is not honest about the changes they are making in the version history, such as a recent change to implement a hard limit of 10 downloaded maps in the non Pro version, so after app update I’m suddenly well over the limit and can’t download anymore unless I upgrade to Pro. The version history doesn’t say they implemented a limit, and in fact most of the versions have the same notes, so they just a copy and paste from previous version, which makes no sense and means the developer is not being honest about the changes they are making. Not good enough 🤬.Version: 14.8.1

Nz maps so outdatedThe New Zealand map is so outdated, I’ve update poi on openstreetmaps hoping that it would update on these maps like it use to do but for some reason it no longer dose and changes that I had made no longer appear, it seems as if they have decided to use older map data instead, for example places that have been closed for over 10+ years are still showing on their map.Version: 15.6.0

Make sure you always have data available!I've had this on my phone for a long time. However, recently I was in an area with no service. I decided to use it to find my way since it doesn't require service to work. But, unless it already has the local detail map downloaded, it will always pop up a notification box asking you to download the local map. Thus making it absolutely useless. If you zoom out far enough it doesn't ask, only if you zoom in does it require the map to be downloaded. I recommend that if there's no data at least allow you to say not now or select no service available and continue on instead of having to give up and use the sun as a reference point..Version: 10.0.5

2* just for how useful it used to beFrankly, this app is useless now without paying the massive yearly subscription fee. I have sworn up and down for this app and have gotten probably hundreds of people to use it, and they’ve ALL loved it. Until now. Now you only get a small amount of map downloads, meaning if you don’t have the right map downloaded at the right time, you’re screwed. This app’s use has always been when out of cell data range for the sole purpose of the offline maps. Offline as in a one time download then periodic update of the map. For the new price, it would cost less to buy a nice GPS with unlimited maps than just to use the app. At least add a true offline mode so the app is still useable for its original purpose. Sad to see this app go this way, I’ve always loved it.Version: 14.6.2

Used used to be epic, now awfulThe issues to be my favourite map app. Then it started going badly wrong around the time I paid £50 to get the premium version. Sometimes when I open the app the map started travelling south beyond the equator and keeps going until it seem to wake up and returns me back to position. The time lag on the search bar is a joke, the selected letters taking an age to appear on screen making it an awful user experience. The search results are simply very odd, with what you have asked for (correctly spelt) appear some 20 or 30 places down the list. It’s as if relevance is well…irrelevant. I paid a lot for a premium experience and what I have is an app I would have deleted if it were free. Come on guys sort this out!.Version: 14.8.2

New version destroyed the appI wish there were a way to go back to the prior version. While the new version (11.0.0) may have "pretty" maps, it has removed the ability to navigate with north up, so now the map spins around crazily while driving. Also seems to be 3D navigation only, not flat map, so you can no longer judge distances by looking. It no longer downloads maps if the screen locks, so you have to babysit while downloading, constantly tapping the screen to avoid auto lock. Downloads take forever - I am at a location with high speed fibre optic internet, and each map takes 15-20 minutes to download. Prepping for a road trip across South Africa where many routes have no cell coverage and the app does not let me download three of the nine provinces. The app no longer tells the download sizes, so I cannot make an informed decision about downloading over data vs wifi. The developers seem to be living in some sort of wonderful bubble with lots of wifi and complete cell coverage, unlike much of the real world. Disappointed..Version: 11.0.0

Best offline navigation appThis is an awesome app. I would give it 5 stars if they change one thing. The navigation is terrible in one aspect. It tells you to turn at every curve. Where there’s no alternative option. Which is really annoying and potentially confusing. Especially when it tells you to go around a curve that’s just a few feet away from a possible turn. Everyone knows you keep following the road you’re on until you need to turn. They need to avoid extra directions that aren’t needed and focus on giving clear turns when you actually turn. I end up not paying attention especially on curvy roads and then miss a turn because it always says to turn to go around a curve. Also a direct 90 degree turn is NOT a slight right/left..Version: 8.6.0

Greedy scammersWhat once used to be free for lots of year is now a subscription either monthly or annually! Really? 10 free maps! Are you kidding me? I so hope every user will give you 1 star rating! Money grab!.Version: 15.3.0

Stopped working with Apple CarPlayI installed and tested this app and it worked properly on both my iPhone 12 and in my car using CarPlay, but I updated the app and found it would no longer work in my car. After the update the icon appeared in the CarPlay display, but starting the app caused it to load and then terminate. I have tried this in two different vehicles and it failed in both. I wrote to the support line telling them of the problem but have not heard back yet. Since I use navigation software in my vehicles through CarPlay and since this no longer works through that display I have removed it from my iPhone. It still works on the phone itself so for those who use it on the phone and not through CarPlay this is still an OK app and I will reinstall it if they fix the CarPlay issue..Version: 14.4.0

Really disappointingThis used to be a brilliant app for offline maps. A series of interferences by the development team have made it significantly less user friendly - full of bugs, crashes, won’t reliably delete loaded maps etc. - and now to top it off we’re expected to pay £55/year if we want to use more than a gratuitous 10 maps (that doesn’t even cover my own country, let alone if I want to use the app abroad). I’d consider paying (a more reasonable price) to use the app IF I was confident it would work properly. The current state of the app isn’t worth paying for at all, and certainly not at such a high price..Version: 14.7.0

Developer really?Everybody calls this app bad cuz of someone that changed it and The only thing the developer can do is cry about it.Version: 15.6.0

Was great, now nearly £50 quid a year for maps that used to be freeThis was a great app, that let you navigate without having to have access to the internet or using mobile data. You could download maps and put in places of interest. The open source maps were hugely detailed and I used the app for years and built up a huge number of pinned locations. Starting late in 2022, things started to go weird with it. First there was an animated dog, then a host of unwanted features. Then it always froze when launching. Now the developers have limited the free map downloads to 10, but there’s no way to choose which ones, so you can’t download a map of where you are if you’ve already downloaded some others. There appears to be no way to change this and the local map won’t download with some sort of error. And finally, now they want to charge nearly £50 a year to access what was free for a decade! They’ve killed it I’m afraid, and the broken interface for the last few months doesn’t give me any confidence that any of the paid for features will actually work as promised..Version: 14.6.2

LOCATION459 Hugel Ave is NOT Available! Building is 5 years old???? Nik.Version: 15.6.0

Used to be best offline navigation mapThis app used to be the best offline navigation map. Now guess what they did? They ask for money if you want to download more than a certain amount of offline maps. It’s like $4.99/month? WHY? They already had other ways that they made money through other in-app purchases like their eSIMs, etc. I don’t want to have to delete maps if I want to download more. They even have their own credit card. I have been using this app for 6-8 years, and on multiple domestic and international trips. Only now did they decide to do this. It’s only a matter of time before they start charging for other features. Besides this major annoyance, this app provides turn-by-turn directions (it actually talks!), and good offline biking, walking, and driving directions. The walking directions used to not have speech, though they might have fixed that since I last tried to use it. I mainly the directions feature for driving and biking. They have all the hiking and mountain biking trails mapped that I’ve needed so far. The maps are more detailed than Google Maps, yet somehow manage to use less storage..Version: 14.7.0

Used to be good. Switched to Organic Maps.Initially this was an excellent app. Easy clean interface and surprisingly responsive support (eg for resolving a super-sluggish zooming problem when using KML files with over 10,000 track points). It’s been my go to navigation app for years and I’ve loaded hundreds of KML files for tracks and pins. Maps are very easy to load. So all that’s good. However… it has become bloated with ads and useless clutter and worst of all does insidious tracking. Back in 2017 I found a log file from which I was able to extract a complete route of a multi-thousand kilometre cycle journey. Literally every single instance of where I’d checked the route was stored indefinitely. Recently I have discovered Organic Maps which is exactly like MM less all the garbage. It imports the same KML files that I have crafted for MM without alteration. So there’s no learning curve or barrier to entry. Happy to have switched..Version: 12.3.2

Good app but…I have had this app pretty much since it came out. Was great for offline navigation. It was free, a bit lacking in information, but very easy to to use all around the world no matter the language. This year, 2023, they suddenly limit users to only 10 maps. If you want more you must pay more than $50/year. I had paid for another app a one time price of $50. It is much more accurate AND you can download by country - yes, a whole country. Sorry, but I cannot afford to suddenly pay monthly/annual fee for each app I had gotten for free. A one time reasonable price may be worth considering. This is why the 3 stars..Version: 14.6.2

11.0.0 update downloaded maps uselessThis WAS one of my absolute favourite apps until today’s update. Every week I use all the offline maps I have downloaded - I travel to places without mobile signal - but now my downloaded Australian maps are USELESS. All now require mobile data to download any detail at all. Australia has some remote places and this app could get me out of a tricky place but I now have no confidence in it at all. It was my survival back up when out bush walking as well. Now no longer. I have recommended this (previously) amazing free offline app to many, but now I’m very sad, frustrated and unhappy with update, and I can’t roll it back. It’s like losing a best friend..Version: 11.0.0

Unlimited no moreI bought this app a few years ago, I work in the airline industry and travel extensively. What I purchased was unlimited map downloads. Now, I no longer get unlimited without a subscription?? Not what I paid for..Version: 15.0.0

Not worth spitDon’t buy a subscription for a map that isn’t worth the electrons it took me to write a negative review. Apple Maps and google maps are still free and both are hands down a million times better..Version: 15.5.0

SlowUpdated to the pro maps me as recently programme running slow to dead stop. I wrongly thought it was due to not actually subscribing. For a long time we have used maps me for our walking and could highly recommend however something must have changed recently to substantially reduce the effectiveness of the programme. It takes forever (hesitant) to enter place names ( just keeps spinning). Hopefully other people speak out so that this once great mapping system can establish it superiority again. At the moment it feels like I wasted over £50 subscription..Version: 14.8.1

InutileJ’ai supprimé l’app. A part vouloir se mettre à jour tout le temps ,ne sert à rien ,quand vient le temps de s’en servir ,il trouve pas une adresse .INUTILE ..Version: 9.0.8

Was brilliant beforeThis app was brilliant some days ago. Now it looks like every update is slowly ruining it. Currently the most annoying thing is how long it takes to locate you. It keeps on scrolling through the map in a random way, so I have to open and close it few times before it can finally load correct location. Search is useless. Map is being zoomed in and out by itself. Still it’s offline and free, so will continue usuing it, even though is gets more and more annoying..Version: 14.6.2

They Broke It Through GreedThe app worked fine in the past with unlimited offline map downloads. Now they charge $100/year for that feature. And if you already have more than 10 “free” maps downloaded from prior to the change in policy, you cannot use this app to look at any other place in the world with having to delete your own downloads. The app has now lost its number one feature. Another app trying to squeeze money on a monthly basis from their users..Version: 15.2.0

Question that I need answeredI would like to be able to get in touch with these people rather than ask my question by feedback but that seems unavailable. Question: I paid for add removal on my ipad. When I attempt to manage my subsctiption on my phone it says there is no subscription. So does this mean I have to subscribe on both devices separately?? Also can I suggest you make your instructions on how to use the app a lot slower & stop that moving screen in the non video part. Those of us who are not so tech savvy have to actually read & have time to comprehend the directions. I’m not stupid but I can’t understand how to work these maps other than the very basic stuff..Version: 9.0.6

Maps are good but constant need to update downloads kills it.Downloaded Maps are in constant need of updating and waste a huge amount of time as they are very slow to download and often crash during the downloads..Version: 14.7.0

Update makes it worseRemoving features from the base version doesn’t make a “pro version”. Why can I only download 10 offline maps now? The offline maps was the main reason to use this app, and a $48/year “upgrade” to restore the features removed in the last update is just not worth it. Yes, the pro version adds a new color scheme and some new GPS navigator features, but the real change is having that arbitrary map limit restored. Shameful that the developers have chosen to use this route to make a “pro” mode rather than introducing actual features that make it worth it to pay for, or at least making it a one-time purchase rather than a repeat subscription (and a relatively expensive one at that)..Version: 14.7.0

Very hard to use offlineWouldn’t recommend this app vs google maps.Version: 15.4.1

10 maps limitThis used to be a great app, how many of us in the travel industry got around the world without Wi-Fi/data. Now new users are limited to only 10 maps and the latest update only allows you to update 10 maps regardless of the number grandfathered previously. This app now stinks and forces me to download Google maps off-line..Version: 15.6.0

What the hell has happened to this? Some years ago I used this app on overseas trips. It was very handy to have offline maps downloaded. After not using it for a long time (while still having the app on my phone), I’ve come back to an assault of messages about Pro options combined with telling me I only have 10 free maps left, but trying to make me start by downloading a city I don’t want or need. So far I’m stumped about clearing the maps I used on previous trips and selecting what I’d want for my next trip, and nearly every message about a pro “feature” suggests that the makers of the app have become so focused on adding bells and whistles that it’s unclear whether this app will still do the basic job. So many computer programs fall into this trap..Version: 15.4.1
