Dashlane Password Manager for Negative User Reviews

Dashlane seems to have stopped working for meI have been using Dashlane for a couple of years now. I have subscribed to the premium version. However I would find hard to recommend it to anyone. I have installed on my iPhone Xs, iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. It seems to be potluck as to whether or not it will auto fill passwords. More often than not I find myself having to copy and paste passwords into websites. Some sites I have had to resort to using easy to remember passwords, which defeats the object of Dashlane. I have tried Darkweb monitoring, but Dashlane have never be able to send a verification email to my main mailbox, which I use daily for personal and business emails I doubt that I shall renew my subscription once it has expired. I will investigate other credential managers Nick Rees.Version: 6.1949.0

Can’t cancel subscriptionI found Dashlane useful, but when I wanted to cancel my subscription there was no option to do so and I was charged for another year. There’s no contact phone number to call to cancel and I emailed a bunch of times to cancel but all I got was an automated reply email that didn’t confirm my cancellation or even help. A shame really cause the app is great but I wouldn’t recommend it because of the hassle of cancelling the subscription and also being charged for another year because I couldn’t cancel the subscription..Version: 6.2118.0

Has lost its lusterAbout 4 years ago based on a positive NYT review, this was my go to app to manage more than 1,000 work and personal passwords. I am very pleased with the security and sharing abilities. However as the number of devices I own has increased, and the multiplication of the security efforts I have to manage as a data analyst for a UC medical center - the burdens of repetitive logins needed on devices using Face ID influenced me to switch to RememBear. In contrast to Dashlane, the look and feel of RememBear actually lightens the onerous tasks involving passwords and provides just the right amount of animation and other confidence building measures. Dashlane suffers from Microsoft type bloat - adding progressive features in a way that now makes simple tasks many layered and cumbersome. The proverbial last straw for Dashlane was its inability to export a csv file with database column headers - an omission that almost seems designed to frustrate a user’s attempt to migrate their own data. Unfortunately I have to live in both a Windows (very reluctantly) and OS x iOS world - but RememBear looks pleasing and functions seamlessly across the spectrum. Inexplicably RememBear is not available on the Apple App Store - but don’t overlook it as a viable and perhaps preferred password management option..Version: 6.1850.1

Kinda works but is quite annoying. The latest version is pretty annoying. Overwrites passwords, auto fills the wrong thing often and doesn’t help much in resetting passwords. Better than nothing and the premium version works across devices. Not perfect by a long shot, though. And stupid nicknames nearly made me throw my phone across the room..Version: 6.2348.1

Totally confusing appI’m in the 30 day free premium trial period so this is as good as it gets which isn’t that good. I’ve spent hours on app this trying to join up password protection across windows and iOS devices. I’ve had it generate strong passwords for sites which it doesn’t remember, and the final straw was signing up to a new site and it generated passwords in non password fields and created total confusion in the sign up process. I now can’t sign back in to that site again without going through the forgotten password process. It does work well at signing in to already established sites but then iOS and windows browsers do that. The online chat support people have been patient and quick to respond. An excellent service there. The idea is brilliant but its complexity, insensitivity and unpredictability means it has a long way to go for non techies..Version: 6.1901.0

IOs Password Generation and Syncing BrokenWhile there are many positive things to say about Dashlane, using it on an iPhone has become increasingly frustrating. Whenever I try to generate a new password for a site or an app, Dashlane shows it as saved and listed with the other passwords in the password menu - complete with app or website info. However, the website or app immediately disappears from the Dashlane app when you next try to pull it up to fill in the password for the new site- it simply no longer listed in the password menu. While it may - or may not - show up hours later, that does not help when you are trying to sign into a new app or had to change a password that you need NOW. In addition, it takes FOREVER for a password that is newly saved on a pc using the web extensions (now the only supported way of using Dashlane on a computer) to show up on the iOS app. And yes, I sync the pc web app immediately after saving the password. Where is the sync function on the iOS app (there is none…)? I try the recommended logging out of the app and logging back in, but this still does not work. Passwords need to be immediately available on a device once they are saved on that device, and need to be immediately available on all devices once they are synced..Version: 6.2122.0

I am screwed because of thisBeware that if you misplace your password for the app, that you will be unable to ever get any help in unlocking or resetting the app. Unfortunately I signed up for the premium service where I am paying a significant amount of money each month and somehow shortly after signing up for the app and setting up the premium service, I lost the password (which is kind of the whole point to even having a password manager, right?) and despite numerous attempts to contact Dashlane to seek some kind of help, I have never heard back from them. The credit card I used to sign up for the service will expire next month and hopefully I only lost about 5 months worth of ‘service’ and after it expires I can maybe try and get my life back in order again. I would recommend that if you are going to sign up for this app or service that you note down the password somewhere that you can get to, because of you do lose it you will not under any circumstances get any help from Dashlane, no matter how much you paid. I sent them at least 4 emails about this problem and got zero response. Please beware of this!.Version: 6.1943.0

Gone downhillUsed to be a solid five stars. Now I am being generous giving it three stars. I have used Dashlane premium for many years and used to be extremely happy with them. Even though they were on the expensive side, I didn’t mind paying. But now I’m not happy. They have taken away the desktop app but not all the features are available in the web version if for example I want to add an attachment from my laptop, this is an a longer possible. Plus now if there is no Internet you no longer have access to your account. I store my passport details as well as many other things in Dashlane that I may want access to even if I do not need the Internet. Also they’ve instituted a “character limit” on secure notes, which is which is minor but annoying. It is now messy and annoying to find whether features are no longer available or only available in the app or what. When I have contacted support over the last several months, they say “we are working on it” I feel that they should have “worked on it” and made sure everything transferred over BEFORE forcing the desktop app to stop working. I am sad about it but I am now looking for an alternative password manager..Version: 6.2206.0

Irritating flawWhen trying to scan my email account - to sign in I have to open my google app to complete the 2 step verification, this app cycles back to the email sign in and I have to do the two step again - so it keeps going round and round and I cannot sign in - because every time click my notification to open google app to complete verification this app goes back to the start - so it keeps going round and round and I cannot sign in because I open the two step and this app goes back to the start - round and round and round. Small oversight - very irritating..Version: 5.11.1

Difficult to manageI think it probably does a good job of looking after my passwords BUT it doesn’t cope with sites that ask for random letters from a password which means you have to remember (ie write down) the super secure one or stick with your old unsafe one for those sites that need the highest security. When you do have to look up a password you find you have multiple accounts! I have no idea where they’ve come from, why I have them or how/which to get rid of. Also can only do an update on certain sites - for the huge majority you have to update one at a time. Overall, I would say that 20% of my least important accounts are now 10x more secure but I’m locked out of, or hugely obstructed from access to the ones that count and now have a pile of unknown accounts to worry about that I have no idea how to clear up! If I thought there was a better product I’d knock it down to 2 stars but this may well prove to be as good as it gets! Maybe give Google another chance!!.Version: 6.1844.1

Features complicate beauty of this toolUPDATE of RATING: I have removed another 2 stars as it seems this app is now totally worthless on the iPhone or iPad...even the supposed “open it in Dashlane” function does nothing but open the login webpage without inserting the login information. Also, many sites on the PC have login windows that Dashlane does not recognize and thus does not populate...banking sites in particular. The fact that I have to remember what sites work and which don’t on the PC makes it a real bother. I am almost ready to abandon it. Also it tells you that your account is compromised hundreds of times even though you have changed your password. So how are you supposed to know if it was compromised since the last password change? Original Review: I have this on PC a Send iPhone. I find on the PC it works fairly well when you go to enter a password or something you see the icons giving you a choice from the selection list if there are multiple possible entries. I hate the fact keeps asking me for receipts but you can turn that off. On iPhone it's another matter I found it totally useless. There seems to be no integration between Safari and this application. Then if you go to the application and login you never get the thread that you were pursuing from an email that required logging in Safari. Am I missing something?.Version: 6.2310.0

Not supported on MacOS 10.x any longer. Bye.I’ve been using Dashlane for about three years but will be leaving shortly. First I’d like to say that Dashlane has operated fairly well across my devices (2 macs, an iPad and 2 phones) over this time and if you’re able to keep up to date with your OS versions you’ll be fine. However I now can’t apply app updates to my Macs without upgrading the OS (something I can’t do for at least another 6 months, maybe longer) and the Mac standalone version is being retired in favour of browser plugins only. I need the stand-alone version for one of my main uses so I’m off to the competition. Appreciate that this is a review for the mobile version but I can’t leave a review on the MacOS App Store….Version: 6.2136.0

Go elsewhereI have been using Dashlane for a while now and have not had any issues. I changed my contact email address within the app that was on Windows 10. Which has now been changed to Microsoft store app and is crap, only to loose access to that email address. Domain closure. I have full access to my account on my linux machine but I’m not able to change the contact email address. I’m locked out of every other device including my phone, (even though I tried to restore from backup - which failed to open app) I’m not able to receive the codes. I have been asked to send in photo ID of my passport and driving license, why would anybody send a copy of their driving license or passport to a third party company who cannot be held accountable and even if I did it still proves nothing as those documents could have been stolen. It’s fair to say that you have lost me as a customer and all of my referrals and I feel like you are a bunch of crooks, not sure why I feel that but it’s true. If you had just kept in contact with me all of this could have been avoided. Terrible service and terrible customer appreciation.Version: 5.10.0

Deleting entire databases randomly? Why?Cue the “This is the first time I’ve ever written a review for an app”. I have been using Dashlane on both my phone and computer since 2013 and was very happy with it up until this year, It’s conflicting that after using the platform for so long that I would find myself staring at an empty database after being prompted to log in. Lost every single one of my passwords, backup codes, 2FA keys and notes. It’s beyond disheartening as someone who is very computer literate and understanding that there are always bugs with software, but for something this destructive to be put out for public use does not sit well with me. I kept testing this for months and it still hasn’t been fixed, I guess updating the interface was more important than that? Also be aware if you want to move to another platform like 1Password or Keepass the file you export is going to be broken and you’ll have to fix it manually. I researched how long that had been an issue and apparently it’s been going on for months as well with no transparency on Dashlane’s part. At the very least I’d want clarity on what this issue is since my phones data was also wiped. Yes, I hear you. People should make backups (please for the love of god make backups, people) which I have, it does not excuse the failure on the company’s part for making sure something like this doesn’t happen to their customers..Version: 6.2027.0

Great appWhen I first started to use this app it was great but over the last 6 months since upgrading to the premium service I have had so many problems. I have been unable to access the app , when I eventually gain access my passwords do not appear in my account. I contact support who take 7 days to reply and then give me a solution to follow which doesn’t work and I then have to wait for anything up to a week for another reply. This is the fourth time I have not had access to my passwords and that has been for 6 weeks now. I have now given up chasing them and accepted I will have to reset all 136 passwords that were saved with them. I would highly recommend you don’t install this app it has gone severely down hill hope this is of use to someone.Version: 6.2051.0

Dashlane...yes and noThere are times when I think it's great and then not so great. Times it will not login to a sight that previously it was working fine. Something changes and I cannot figure it out. I'll be able to login from the browser but not through Dashlane. Times like that cause to want to cancel or certainly not sign on another year. Frustrating, to put it in a word. Part 2 of this review. Once again this product (Dashlane) on my iPad,really angers me. I cannot encourage anyone to load this application. Trying to make a payment online to my Sam's club account just will not work through dashlane. When checking the login information, I find it all is correct. However I can only accomplish a successful login going out to a browser, safari, Firefox, you name it only then can login occur as it should in (Dashlane) which is where all passwords are to be stored and easily accessible by me with a private password intended to get into (Dashlane). This is just one example of many. If this is not intended to work on a tablet iPad etc. then say so and quit wasting my time and at the same time raising my BP. You never know when it will work, from one account to another. Just not worth it.....Version: 6.2144.1

Sometimes great, sometimes rubbish...I use Windows PCs, Macs, iPads, and an iPhone, and Dashlane is horribly inconsistent across these devices. In Windows, it’s good - it offers to log me in to the sites it knows, populating the password fields automatically, and logging-in with a secure password which only Dashlane knows is simple and quick... It’s not nearly as good in Safari on my Macs (MAC Mini, MacBooks, iMacs) - there’s no automatic populating of the fields, which means manually opening Dashlane and scrolling through the alphabetical list until I find the site I want to log into, copying the password, pasting it into the field, and then clicking log in - this is cumbersome and annoying. There’s another really annoying problem on my iPad - Dashlane refuses to list my sites and saved credentials in alphabetical order, so then I have to slow-scroll through them until I find the site I want before I can copy the password - this is absolutely crap. Lastly, the VPN is useless - it disconnects within seconds and is utterly worthless. I hope Dashlane raises their game - I’m very angry with the ‘influencer’ who recommended it as well as with Dashlane for being so expensive and so inconsistent - SHAPE UP or lose my custom!!!.Version: 6.2038.1

AwfulThis app used to work pretty well. After my year subscription ran out I tried to buy another and it said I had an ongoing Apple subscription. I knew I’d cancelled it and Apple confirmed. They gave me a courtesy month to work out why it said there was a subscription. The month is up but I can’t sign into the site on my Samsung galaxy s9+ (not a particularly old phone) or on my new iPad Pro. So I can’t update payment and subscribe for another year. I no longer use a computer or laptop. The customer service people can’t even take a payment for another year. So I have hundreds of passwords all stored and will have to move them to a new account or a different company manually. Good thing really, as the app no longer works on my galaxy s9 80% of the time. And I have to manually open app and copy passwords. It sometimes fills a box, sometimes the wrong box. On my iPad it used to generate new passwords right from the form you were filling in. Now it makes a box pop up, you have to go to the app, type in the new password you want to make, generate password, copy it, go back to website, paste it, add email address manually...etc etc and on and on. Half the time on iPad it doesn’t work at all. I don’t know why it’s suddenly gone SO far downhill on 2 newish devices. I’m jumping ship..Version: 6.1943.0

Update blocked my passwordAfter the recent update, the app doesn’t recognize my password anymore. I use Face ID and it won’t accept that either. Called customer support and they said they’ll escalate but they haven’t returned my call since last week. What good is this service if they can’t ensure the password feature on their app works! Very frustrating!.Version: 6.1925.0

Don’t trust your data with themI’ve have Dashlane for the last two years and suddenly without any notice, I lose several of my passwords. Afterwards, I start experiencing syncing issues between devices. I tried performing a few troubleshooting steps like logging off and login back in just to find out that I can’t log in any device other than the website. I then had to deal with customer support for close to two weeks with absolutely no useful help. I told them the steps I took, and all I got in response was basically to repeat them. After all the wasted time, I tried backup my remaining information and switching to another service only to find out that the manner in which they format their CSV file isn’t comparable with any other service, and to do so would require format manipulation of all my passwords. Honestly, I am not going to waste time on such a tedious task. Then I requested a refund just to get told they can’t offer me my money back due to the method In which I paid. Other than that, the software works great when there are no issues, but when there is, it sure shows you all the glaring flaws the company has. If you like customer support, or any useful support concerning this service or its app, just talk to a brick wall, it might provide you with more useful information..Version: 6.2152.0

Good basics, poor UI/UX - mainly for techy users?I’m a premium user but will be looking at changing suppliers at the end of my year’s subscription. So far as I can tell, the basic functions around password storage and protection are fine. But it has one of the least helpful Help functions I’ve encountered: the illustrations simply don’t match what I see on the screen. I’ve installed it on computer and iPhone and selected auto-sync but I’m not at all sure that it’s working on the phone and when I asked an online support question the answer, even after I had asked for clarification, was incomprehensible. I have the impression that the support function is staffed by boys in their early 20s who are probably super competent technically but, who, while willing and friendly, struggle with verbal communication to a non-technical user like me. If there were a 2.5 star option I’d give it that, because the functionality is half the product while useability is the other half and that’s where it falls down..Version: 6.1927.0

Not worth the moneyI initially liked the UI although the browser extension (safari) always performed better than the IOS app. I experienced issues with copying and pasting 2FA codes, eventually giving up and falling back on Bitwarden which did it faultlessly. I was also attracted by the dark web monitoring, but I couldn’t get it to work for any email address other than the one I used to register. The monitoring also only appears to be for email addresses rather than passwords and personal details. These issues could possibly have been overcome if Dashlane had any customer service in place. The robo-chat “dashy” was no use and there is no human alternative. I’ll be cancelling my trial and going back to Bitwarden premium..Version: 6.2403.1

Used to love it… until now! It’s been years that I’m using this app (iOS and OS) and always found it wonderful, until recently when they decided to cancel the computer desk app to go on the web app. Not that bad you’ll say, but if you can’t install Big Sur on your computer… you just can’t use it. Extremely annoying… I don’t see the point in keeping my subscription anymore….Version: 6.2152.0

Good, but..A solid password management app. I subscribed to Dashlane after migrating away from Lastpass, and because I really wanted it to be great. But sadly, my general experience has been mixed. Dashlane does what it says on the box; it’s a solid password manager and will fulfil all the basic requires a password manager should. What has really put me off however, has been the negative interface experience on iOS, and also with the Edge plugin for PC. Copy/pasting passwords is harder than it should be. There is no right click contextual options from Edge as can be found in Lastpass. On iOS, a number of interface complications also occur (too complex to explain). Nothing fatal, but for an app who’s goal is to make quality of life improvements, these annoyances are a big negative. All in all, I’ve decided to return to Lastpass as its simply the ‘less annoying’ of two less then perfect products..Version: 6.2132.0

Used to love itGot locked out for reasons Unknown. Don’t like the function that I require a Master password every 2 weeks, even though I have very secure anti virus software. I have face recognition activated on my iPhone yet it still required a master password. I stuffed that up. I am no locked out. They have my email and mobile details. So t understand why I have to reset whole database to reset master password. Even banks are not that hard/ secure. I now have to re-input all Passwords. It took me more than a full day to Input them all the first time. If I have to do that would prefer a different APP..Version: 6.2212.1

More trouble than its worth!I purchased Dashlane premium from the Apple App Store and after a few days of trying to get it to work with my IPad and going back and forth by email with Dashlane so-called support I just gave up. Their support consists of referring you to the online instructions I had already read and tried. There is no telephone support available. It takes forever to add or change passwords and I can’t even get it to download on my iPhone 6, so what is the point? Requested a refund of the $55 plus tax I paid from Apple and was refused with no reason given other than a link to their terms etc. Very unhappy with the whole process, the app and Apple for refusing to refund my money!.Version: 6.1937.2

Catastrophic failureFor the crime of switching phones while still on the trial version, I’ve had all passwords on the new phone overwritten and erased, because I’d manually emptied the old phone of passwords in preparation. Previously, on the free version, it was possible to store different sets of passwords on different devices through the same account. Without warning, dashlane changed this in a manner which resulted in me losing over 20 vital passwords, including bank details, as I’d prepared for the former eventuality rather than the latter. There is no data backup- free users are thrown in the bin by a company which appears not to care. There is no excuse for this catastrophic, inept, easily avoided failure. You’ve lost yourselves a potential customer. This will take hours, probably days for me to remedy. Timesaver indeed. I’m beyond livid..Version: 6.2029.1

Going to look for a new password app.Dashlane is honestly only useful for storing your passwords in a way that can only be accessed with your fingerprint. It’s no better than writing them down physically and locking them in a safe. The automatic account upload of known accounts and passwords on your phone is a mess. I have multiple username/email and password combinations for one site uploaded by Dashlane and I have to guess which one is the right combination because the app automatically uploads the wrong info. The auto-login is horrible as well. Dashlane uploaded what it thought was my account log in for a federal financial aid website (it was incorrect, unbeknownst to me). When I hit login from Dashlane the app filled in the wrong login and each time the website attempted to tell me it was the wrong info, Dashlane just automatically enters the wrong info again. It sends you on a loop of wrong login to an error message over and over again until I’m locked out of my account for too many incorrect attempts. You can’t stop the app from auto logging into because it refreshes the page within a millisecond. This app is a mess. I’m trying to organize all of my accounts and this app has only made things worse..Version: 5.2.0

Platform InconsistencyThe problem isn’t so much the app itself, but inconsistency across the platform. The iOS app does not offer the same features as the Mac app, which itself does not offer the same features as the web app. For example, you can only setup two factor authenticated logins on the iOS app. The feature is not available on the Mac or web. What this means is that your logins appear differently depending on the platform you are using, and if you have any two factor authentication logins you cannot use the auto-login feature, plus you would need to access two platforms, Mac and iOS, just to login! Because of this kind of inconsistency, it is not worth the hassle just to get auto password changing feature. Also, you can’t just arbitrarily set anything you want as the master password. You have to formulate a password based on Dashlane’s pre-established criteria. The passwords I use (Diceware) are stronger than their requirements, but since they are not compatible I cannot use them. Because of this, I’m sticking with 1Password, which feels like a much more mature program..Version: 6.1.0

Could be betterIt doesn’t seem that Dashlane excels at 1) update my passwords as I change them, which can be annoying. E.g. I’d previously changed my FB log in credentials but dashlane would still autofill the old one 2) Dashlane can’t talk to other apps. If you change password within an app the chances are Dashlane doesn’t know 3) Dashlane doesn’t always do a good job at auto fill my details :( 3 stars from me. Keep it up tho.Version: 6.1949.0

No category3 star for not including category.Version: 6.2413.3

A good password manager until the most recent updateI have been using Dashlane for a matter of years now, and never been dissatisfied with the app. The one niggle was the whole “premium” culture of syncing all your passwords across multiple devices, but only if you pay for it; I didn’t, and haven’t needed to, it’s simple to renter the information from one device on the other. With their most recent update, Dashlane would appear to have made paying for the premium package a requirement to even use their service with multiple devices, as I now had to register my iPhone with my account, telling me I had to unlink my iPad before I could use it on my mobile. This is shameful money grubbing, and I will be deleting the app to instead use the built in Apple password manager..Version: 6.2029.1

A good app if you are willing to work around its shortcomings. In the passwords vault, you only have the option to use one of the websites that dashline suggests. you can just choose one and then go on the the edit screen and change the title to whatever you want. but then the only fields you are able to attach is the title, the website url, the password, and an email... as if that is the only information i will ever need to enter into a password manager. other PMs i have tried have had custom fields you can add in to a password. There is also a notes section for each password so you can bunch any additional stuff you need down there i suppose. i didnt think there was any folders or categories until i saved the entry and went back to edit it. you can choose from a few suggested categories, or make your own. you can then group your passwords by the category names. a folder system would be much better in my opinion but at least there is some kind of way to organize things. for me this app didnt have any of the specific features i wanted but there was workarounds for each one so its not all bad..Version: 6.1844.0

Sync and Google PW Manager IssuesDashlane does not always work predictably with Sync and Google Manager. I have it installed on multiple devices and occasionally one or more will interfere and use a previous password. This forces me to either update the password again, hoping re-synchronizing works. Can be very frustrating at times..Version: 6.2021.0

Pushed to pay for planI’ve been using the app for years. Decent, but sometimes/some sites don’t sync password or user info correctly, so there are a few glitches there. Recently I hit my limit for free passwords and cannot add new ones. When I purged out old passwords (many of them) to make room, still I cannot add new passwords and there is no response on the feedback email. Feels like they may be pushing people to upgrade to paid subscription..Version: 6.2413.0

Passwords have been disappearingI really like this app and service. Currently, I have over 300+ passwords saved. However, I’ve been beginning to notice more recently and frequently that passwords are disappearing from Dashlane. Using the web extension, a password and account will be randomly missing. This could be a password to an account I use everyday- poof! Randomly gone. The account and password are not findable, but if I log into the mobile app, it will be there. This is super inconvenient and disappointing. In addition to this, if I create a username/password for a website on the web extension, it does not register on my mobile device until I physically open the app. Outside of these issues, I do have other smaller occasional issues but they are not as inhibiting as the ones mentioned above. I really like using Dashlane and have for the last 3-4 years, but these issues are a big problem for me. For the price, because Dashlane charges nearly $30 more a year than other comparable services, I wouldn’t expect to have these particular issues mentioned above. Will definitely continue using Dashlane for a few more months to judge if this bug/glitch is resolved, if not, I will need to consider a different option as being locked out of any of my accounts is far from ideal and could potentially prevent me from working..Version: 6.2134.0

Helpful but frustratingI have a love-frustrated relationship with this app. Used it fir years and recommended it a lot… but some clunky and not well thought aspects (eg- need to log in twice to use now… once online and then in app; the “this website” button should auto fill the website, but does not unless (again) you also log into the app; the sharing centre does not work seamlessly for either sharing large numbers if passwords or finding them) Overall I question why they shifted to become an online service (used to be app only) as product is now less useful and is always harder to use. (Only assumption is that it’s economically better for Dashlane rather than the user experience).Version: 6.2122.0

Works but not as good as it was beforeThe app has been changed, and not for the better, in my opinion. We have many issues and when I bring them to their attention they just tell me this is a new app and there should be no problems anymore. I have over 150 passwords each with 12 characters and the work to change move them to another software is very time consuming. Some day I will just cut and paste into excel and start with another software tool, but until then this is what I am stuck with. Think about which software you select because it’s lots of work to change. Note: in the software they allow you to save a 5 star review or list a complaint, they don’t allow 4 or lower star reviews to be posted. Apple should review this practice..Version: 6.2148.1

No longer a happy customerThis used to be a good app run by smart people. Can’t say that is the case anymore. Customer support will take you in circles. While they claim they want to help, they are mostly clueless. They want you to do all the testing and trouble shooting for them. Their website is useless, just takes you in circles. I DON’T RECOMMEND, you will eventually end up as I did with a failed password reset and inaccessible account. The only way to prevent this is to turn on biometrics not only for use with the app but there is a hidden switch you have to know about to set that so you can get in after you logout permanently and have ‘forgotten’ (or they failed to take) your new password. But as it stands now, I will never have access to all my secure notes again, painstakingly built up over the last 7 years or so. Not everyone has the option to share their data with someone else. I knew something was wrong ever since they were bought by another outfit and changed their logo. I will not be recommending this product to anyone and I will be warning them about the terrible fake customer support..Version: 6.2252.1

Too harsh with locking out if card expiresI’ve been a Dashlane Premium customer for 6 years at least and always loved them until some of their recent changes, like browser-only on desktop and instant blocking of other devices the moment a renewal period is missed. My card happens to have expired whilst I am abroad so I can’t get the new one which has been delivered. Dashlane immediately locked me out of my other devices. In the past Dashlane only stopped syncing new passwords / changes (similar to Dropbox) but otherwise allowed me to access my passwords. But clearly the accountants are running the show now, and the customer experience has tanked in the last few months. Generally crappy experience and though it’s going to be a massive effort (I have thousands of passwords), I’m going to 1password. Very very disappointed when I used to be one of your happiest customers..Version: 6.2148.1

Just a warning...If you purchase this apps premium subscription don’t expect it to apply across multiple platforms such as windows and Apple. You will have to pay for each OS! Works out to be very expensive! Really gutted. Now off to find an affordable alternative. The product works well enough, few gremlins here and there but nothing without a workaround..Version: 6.1923.0

Let’s get one thing straight.....Being a longtime 1Password user, I was enticed to give Dashlane a go because of the great original app icon; I REALLY dislike the new one! Sorry but aesthetics are important to me. Why can’t they have given us a choice icons like most apps are now able to offer? Now that I have that out of the way, onto the password manager itself; set-up and overall design is good, where it fails is new login generation, and password completion of existing logins, which are fundamentals to password management! Creating a new login should be as simple as tapping a + symbol within logins and completing the necessary details, instead I have to go to a different section, and it starts by asking for the web address which at this point is not urgent as all I want to do is create a new login and password! Where password completion for existing logins are concerned, these are rarely pre-populated for me, even when there is a web address included; I end up having to search for the login myself. Too much leg-work required I’m afraid. I am running Dashlane and 1Password together at the moment but unless Dashlane addresses the shortfalls mentioned, I am returning to my trusted 1Password..Version: 6.2007.0

Ok I guessI downloaded this looking for a way to stop using the same password for everything. But every few seconds on the app or when I click on the search bar, password etc. it crashes. The screen goes black for second and it takes me back to iPhone home screen. Really disappointed..Version: 6.2003.0

0 starsDashlane is a terrible program. It continually mixes my passwords with the wrong websites. I have gone back to the manual way of writing them down. The program doesn’t work on my iPad or iPhone despite paying for the premium product. I have not once seen my passwords synced to my iPad or iPhone which is probably a good thing given that they would be the wrong passwords anyway. I was patient with this app thinking that it may be my lack of knowledge with it that created these problems. The more I used the app the more problems I found with it. After contacting customer service they told me I was just a few days outside of the 30 day money back period and they would not give me a refund. Biggest waste of money ..Version: 6.1.0

Premium isn’t premiumHave used Dashlane for 12 months now. I paid $US40 for a years access and only this week did I discover that part of what I paid for was password synchronisation across my devices. This feature has NEVER worked. Passwords I enter on my computer rarely sync between my devices. An account I open on my computer is rarely available on my phone unless I enter the details manually. It is such an issue I hadn’t even realised passwords were sposed to be available on different devices. Not worth the hassle at this price without a fix..Version: 6.2041.2

Intuitive, Organized Data, IndispensableThe vault has been tremendously helpful especially while on the go. Accessing secure password storage is the primary function for me closely followed by automatic webpage login, payment storage and receipt documentation from Web purchases. The delta are the following (1) very slow startup when booting the computer - I turned this off and start Dashlane manually (2) slow or non-existent sync across devices, the main menu sync now button rarely works and have to go into open sync preferences option to sync the data (3) serious login competition between browser password storage and Dashlane despite selecting Dashlane as main login extension which actually makes login very difficult (4) when at a webpage and seeking to generate a password, the automatic password generation dialogue box creates a password that Dashlane later says is good or unsafe but if I use the “manual” extension password generator, I get a much more complex and very safe password that is generally far more acceptable to websites such as medical or financial institutions..Version: 6.1844.1

Complicated and unhelpful.I am very disappointed and somewhat distressed after attempting my to use this password manager. I was notified that my details had been used in a data breach, and was recommended this service. Setting it up was complicated, plus you are not informed that only one device is free. So when I set it up on my pc so that I could sync passwords I had to pay. Which I tried to do although on my phone it notified me that it hadn’t worked, so also set up on my pc, which went through, but the passwords still didn’t sync. I have had to manually change every password on all accounts as I had used the password generator and so didn’t know my passwords. I then checked my bank statement and BOTH payments went through. I have spend approximately 6 hours updating and changing passwords and am now back to using my own memory rather than a service that I am paying for twice. The worst part of this is that Dashlane have not replied to my emails requesting help. Not recommended unless customer service and interface vastly improved..Version: 6.2051.0

Locked out and lost all my dataI had established an account and put all my personal information in the app. Accessed it a number of times until one time the app did not accept my unique password. I tried several time without success. I wrote to Dashlane and they told me they were having trouble with the app accepting some password and that I should wait a few days - not ideal. After a few days I contacted them again, and again to get a response. Finally they sent me to their technical support which was not very helpful at all. They told me the only way I could proceed was to reset my password which would wipe out my data stored. Again not ideal. Apparently there is no way for them to reset your password if you forget it without wiping out all you data. In the meantime I signed up for Premium Service at $39 to hopefully secure my account and some of the data. So I decided to reset my account following the instructions their tech support provided me and after two steps their app froze and would not let me proceed. As a result my account was deleted from their system, along with all my data. When I contacted tech support again they had nothing to say. I WOULD NOT use this app at all. Totally frustrating..Version: 6.1846.0

Free version, lost EVERYTHINGDashlane worked like a dream for me for over a year. It was the perfect solution to organizing all of my extremely important data and have it readily available at my fingertips. It really was too good to be true. Until one day, Apple (I have an iPhone), offloaded the Dashlane app to save storage on my phone. When I reinstalled it, Dashlane viewed this as me trying to register a second device (I use the free version) and poof, my data was gone. Everything. Over 100 passwords and pieces of invaluable information. Upon contacting Dashlane for assistance, they said sorry you are out of luck, you should have paid for the premium version to use multiple devices. But I was just trying to use the same one device all along. In other words, there is absolutely no backup of your data if you use the free version. If your phone gets lost, damaged, stolen, or you accidentally uninstall the app (or if Apple does this for you) then you are totally screwed. This was not made clear to me as a user, or I obviously would have arranged for some kind of backup of my data elsewhere. I trusted Dashlane with my most important personal information, and they failed me. I would recommend trying another app but NOT Dashlane!!!!.Version: 6.1903.0
