Outstanding valueI didn’t hesitate to pay $10 for this app - the batá content alone is worth more to me than that! Would love to see the addition of more West-African dance rhythms. Please keep this going, guys!.Version: 5.4

Best App for Afro/Cuban and Latin DrummersI’ve bought a lot of apps trying to get a handle on Afro/Cuban Latin and folkloric drumming this App is tops for that would like to see some more rhythms like yambu/Bembe bata section is awesome keep up the good work fellas..Version: 4.9995

Great AppThis is a great resource. Download their RhythmGame app as well. It’s challenging and fun..Version: 5.3

OutstandingA really useful app with an outstanding depth of knowledge. I use this lots with degree and postgrad students at music colleges..Version: 5.4

Drum tutorGreat application !!.Version: 2

Percussion tutorGreat demo and practice tool, my only suggestion is to allow tempo change of the ensembles. I highly recommend!.Version: 2.80

Amazing with a little room for improvement...Such an amazing app. I’ve been using it as a student. What I would love is to have volume control for each of the beats as sometimes it’s difficult to discern some of the beats. I noticed that some of the beats don’t have a metronome function making it difficult to know when to come. Having a count in prior to the Iya’s first hit would be helpful too to nail the introduction..Version: 5.4

Fun and informativeI like this app a lot. It includes a lot of information about bata drumming, with video and audio version of the various rhythms. Even if you don't plan on playing bata drums, you can apply these rhythms to the drum set and add to your musical vocabulary..Version: 1.0

A must buy!A fantastic tool! (And it keeps getting better with every update!) Rhythms are written out and demonstrated with videos. Parts can be added/subtracted for practice. On of the best apps out there!.Version: 5.4

A must have for anyone interested in rhythmThe ability to solo each instrument or several instruments in an ensemble and play along is priceless. The accompanying videos and sheet music is unbelievable given the low price of the Pro app. I’ve enjoyed it for years and decided I had to write review. This is one of those rare apps where the love of the music and the subject comes thru..Version: 5.4

Fabulous and very authentic. The grooves in this app are very authentic. Love the ability to isolate instruments. There are a few conga players that rush, but overall an amazing app that’s well worth the money and practice time..Version: 5.4

Very practical app!!!Great play a long app that loops very complex, authentically-done afro cuban, brazilian and african styles..Version: 2

So many rhythmsGreat app. Love that it has the charts too..Version: 4.92

4.5 Stars, A fenomenal Rhythm AppThis year on Nov 6 will be my 4th year of owning this App. Originally on the iOS it was called “Percussion” but today it’s called “Percussiontutor” As a music educator for 30 years I have used many Apps that claimed to be authentic and were not, they were very pretty cheesy. “Percussiontutor” is an excellent tool for teaching various Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian Rhythms. This particular App is authentic in its presentation. Being able to print a pdf of the percussion parts and to see the rhythms being perform by Masters and profesional musicians makes this a fenomenal resource for the music educator, students, instrumentalist and dancers. I have used it to teach 3-5 year olds, pre-k thru 5th grade, middle school, high school and college students. When I compare the rhythm to recording tracks, my students make a connection to the rhythms on the “Percussiontutor” App. Watching the videos helps them to have access to how to execute the different percussion parts. In class we are able to eliminate certain percussion parts and the students can listen how different combination of instruments work together to form the rhythm section. My students also have purchased the app as a required tool for the music class. They learn basic patterns in isolation when practicing at home or in the practice room. The 4.5 Stars and not 5 star is due to the inability to increase the tempo with out loosing the quality of the original recording of the rhythm. Also a volume control, found in other cheesy apps, would definitely kick-it up a notch. Developers, things to consider for improvement: 1. Tempo adjustment with-out loosing the quality of the original rhythm 2. Volume control within the App itself 3. As we continue to improve technology, a counter or digital tempo would kick it up a notch 4. Better graphics or authentic photos of the instruments, would bring it to iOS 13.6 level 5. Add the ability to connect to Garage band or any other DAW App. It would make this an ultimate foundation builder for recording on a digital platform. If non of these suggestion can be added, I will continue to use it as a teaching tool. With its limitations, Percussion tutor is a great thought out App. Shout-out to Victor Rendon, Luis Bauzo and many others who kept the teaching of these traditional rhythms and instruments alive at the old Boys Harbor Music School in Spanish Harlem USA. Again, thank you to the developers and master musicians who participated in creating this well thought-out and well executed Percussion Tutor. I highly recommend it for students, music edu, all percussionist, instrumentalist and dancers. It’s worth every cent and more !!! ¡Un Millón de Gracias! (A million thank you).Version: 5.4

Excellent!Great app, would be nice to have a limited free version to trial before purchase but worth the €..Version: 5.4

Awesome AppThis is an awesome app. You can learn a lot of different patters with the right feel and dynamics..Version: 5.4

💕💕💕💕💕I’m a hammer dulcimer player learning both rhythmic playing and practicing new chord progressions while using this app. Will look no further, this app suits my needs well..Version: 4.9996

Helpful AppEssential app for learning and understanding latin rhythms faster..Version: 4.9995

Awesome!I love this app! I use it all the time. I am a piano player and I always try various Latin tunes with different rhythms. The charts and videos are such a great bonus!.Version: 4.9993

Percussion TutorWhat an amazing and pleasant surprise!! Being a musician myself, I found the app quite useful. There is an "in-app" metronome for slowing down or speeding up the tempo, in case a rhythm is unfamiliar to you. You can use the rhythms as background music to practice your own instrument to. They also provide a link so that u can download the instruction manual in PDF format! All of the rhythms are quite precise and crisp...I commend the musicians involved. Great work, guys!! You can even watch the rhythm being played...there are videos!! They also provide a short historical synopsis of each rhythms origin! Very cool!! This really is a great app and I highly recommend it whether or not you have a musical background. Thanks guys!!!.Version: 2.50

Great appIf you study world percussion, you must have this app!!.Version: 4.0

Super helpfulHighly recommended.Version: 4.9996

Wow.Amazing and I’m very overwhelmed by the amount of rhythms. I am so glad that I stumbled upon this app. I wonder what future updates will be like..Version: 5.4

The greatest app ever?I am a musician and have travelled to a dozen countries to study. Much of what I’ve wanted to understand is all in this app. It is a treasure and an indispensable resource for those who want to explore traditional African rhythms..Version: 5.4

AwesomePercussion Tutor Review For the Latin or Afrocuban drummer, this app is worth 10x the price at least. Especially for bata rhythms and other folk rhythms that aren’t easy to find a lot of recordings of. Just wish you could adjust the volume levels of each instrument instead of just muting them. This would help seeing how two instruments fit together while distinguishing one from the other. Also, hope Bembe gets added soon..Version: 4.9995

Great app, but needs updatingThis app is awesome to practice at different tempos and have the feeling that you are playing with others. I would suggest the developers to revise the Puerto Rican Rhythms. Xica is actually spelled Sicá. There is also other rhythms like Cuembé, Yubá, and Seis Corrido that are very important and popular on the island but are missing in the app. But in summary, a must have app for any percussionist..Version: 4.97

PODEROSA HERRAMIENTA!!! 🎼Excelente app!! Bien útil, si pueden añadir los patrones rítmicos de salsa 2-3 y 3-2 y sus variaciones se los voy agradecer 👍.Version: 4.4

Great appGreat app. It could use one change though; the ability to slow down the rhythms.Version: 2.90

A must have for all professional musiciansAll modern rhythm stems from these roots. It's a shame that all of the wonderful rhythms of the world are not taught more in modern music schools, but I'm extremely elated that there is this app that brings the rhythm to life, at the touch of a few buttons! I hope this app inspires others to study these rhythms and help secure these roots in history, while firmly planting their own; much like it has done to me. Keep it up cats, and thanks!.Version: 4.97

Great! Could use a few improvementsI love this app! I’m giving it 4 stars though, because there are a few improvements I’d like to see. I don’t like that the pitch of the percussion instruments change when adjusting tempo. I’d like for the pitch to be fixed. Or maybe to have separate controls for both pitch and tempo. Next, it would be nice to have separate volume controls for individual instruments. Finally, the bossa move rhythm maxes out at 155bpm, which is still pretty slow, so I’d like to have the ability to set a higher tempo for it. Other than that, I love this app and hope to see continual improvements in the future..Version: 4.9996

ExcellentAn excellent resource to learn, understand, practice along with. Would LOVE to have 6/8 bell patterns & rhythms too!.Version: 4.992

Excellent AppThis is the best percussion app I’ve seen in the app store. I hope they continue to expand rhythms that include traditional rhythms from Colombia and other South American countries. I really hope you consider Cumbia, Bullerengue, Mapale, Vallenato Rhythms, and Colombian Pacific Rhythms. I know there’s a world of rhythms but why not make a recommendation. Also, the Dominican section could really use a Bachata rhythm. Thank you for an excellent app. I really hope you continue to grow..Version: 5.4

School Social WorkerAmazing, just #%^*ing Amazing..Version: 1.0

Great tool!Great item to improvise over and lock in grooves..Version: 4.9994

Great learning toolI am a professional drummer in Toronto that teaches 53 students a week and I recommend this app to all if them..Version: 2.90

Love it!Thank you..Version: 4.92

Sureños!!This app is great! But please please please add chacerera, zamba and cueca!! Also Korea and Sri Lanka have some awesome rhythms too. Keep up the good work👍👍👍.Version: 3.0

Great Learning ToolThis is a fantastic application for developing the correct feel. Very impressive..Version: 4.9995

Excellent AppGreat app that is now part of my suite of practise tools. Just get it you wont regret. Wished it had a timer or at least show the clock so that the practice time per rhythm can be tracked before upping the tempo etc,.Version: 5.4

SuperNice.Version: 4.9993

PerfectAll I can say is perfect. Dive in and see :).Version: 5.4

A gem for percussionists and students of Afro-Latin musicImpressively thorough guide to the legitimate basics of Afro-Latin percussion. I just wish you could adjust the tempos..Version: 2.90

Generally good but Brazilian rhythms lack detailThe writers wouldn’t dream of using a drum kit to cover some of the parts of a bata rhythm or guaguaganco so why do it to Samba Reggae, Maracatu etc? It’s a shame as this lack of depth lets down an otherwise excellent app. There have been lots of misconceptions and misunderstandings when traditional rhythms are passed on - why add to this?.Version: 5.4

Truly essentialA rare app that’s so good I literally tell every student and peer they must have it..Version: 5.4

Lovely app, informative and very useful. It has a wide variety of genres and cultural styles and I use it every day for practise. There are a couple of issues. When slowing down the tempo too much, you get some transient smearing which can blur some of the rhythm's attacks but kept near the original tempo its not too bad. The app now and again can crash when opening another app. When changing another audio app and back it can loose the audio of the current rhythm. By going back to list of rhythms and choosing the same rhythm restores the audio. Despite these small issues I really enjoy jamming along the rhythms..Version: 5.4

Brilliant AppI downloaded this app with no expectations. To say it blew my mind is an understatement. I am a working muso and teacher and it is an Awesome resource with so much to offer. I can't wait for more updates! Hats off to the designers and the whole team!.Version: 2.50

Best Latin Percussion GuideThis is the most comprehensive resource I have found in any media form. The ability to isolate the different parts while reading the music has made all the difference. Highly recommend for anyone who did not grow up listening to these rhythms..Version: 4.4

A must-have appThese guys have produced an immensely well thought out and beautifully executed app. As a rock and roll bass player who by sheer happenstance was fortunate enough to learn from an amazing mix of Afro Cuban musicians like Armando Peraza, Walfredo Reyes, Jr., Karl Perazzo, Rebeca Mauleón, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Raul Rekow and others, I can safely say that the amount of work and passion that has been put into this app is second to none. If you even have a passing interest in bettering yourself as a musician, you should get this app..Version: 5.4

Awesome appIf you play percussion, use the world music drumming curriculum as a teacher, participate in drum circles such as HealthRhythms, Arthur Hull’s Village Drum Circles or just love Afro Latin music then this is the book. It’s a great practice tools and is an awesome way to learn all the parts. If there are two of you you can mute two parts in an ensemble and jam out. The game that goes with this, Rhythm Game, is a great practice tool too. It gives feedback on best timing accuracy and is a great design. It’s free if you beat each level and you only pay to unlock all levels..Version: 5.3
