Sun Surveyor (Sun & Moon) for Positive User Reviews

Amazing AppPurchased for planning local sunset/moonrise photos. That capability alone surpassed my expectations. I was just reviewing photo opportunities for a quick over night trip and discovered even more information in this app: The ability to enter remote locations and extensive information on Sun, Moon, Milky Way and other celestial events. Only took me two+ years to discover that this tool is even better than I thought! I love this app!.Version: 2.8.2

Great Solar Panel Array Survey ToolI use this app to site solar panel arrays. A great tool to find the best sun exposure on a property so that the array won’t be shaded and rob power output . It also shows me where trees might need to be removed or topped to get full power harvesting during prime hours on either side of solar noon. I use the photos to guide arborists on where to cut the shading trees. It’s amazingly precise for this kind of work..Version: 2.6.2

Sun surveyorJust brilliant to see the sun and moon track at any date and on any place on earth. I'm not a photographer (physicist) and it is great just to browse sunrise & set times with current, equinox and solstice tracks. Great for travellers too..Version: 1.2.3

BrilliantThis app does exactly what it clams and does it very well. I was hesitant to download because of the price but so pleased I did :) Thanks to the developers, you're doing a great job :).Version: 2.6.5

Thank you for making this. This has been my best friend..Version: 2.4.7

Astonishing! This app is astonishing! I've been using it now for a couple of years and each and every time an update arrives I'm blown away by what else the developer has added and perfected - it just gets better and better. I'd recommend this to anybody who's even remotely interested in what the sun's doing above their head on a day-to-day basis. I've found many uses for 'Sun Surveyor' and it's highly accurate predictions, it's never once let me down or proved even remotely unreliable. Hey and a special thanks to the guy who brought this amazing product to fruition - you're a Genius....Version: 2.0.1

Farming and gardeningI use this all the time to help people pick a good spot for a garden. Get used to the controls and you will love it..Version: 2.8.3

One of my all-time favorite apps, for sureI downloaded Sun Surveyor about a year ago, and it was the easiest and quickest ten usd I've ever spent. (I'm quite stingy with my spending) Worth every cent. The application is orderly, organized, visually appealing, user friendly, the whole sha~bang. 10/10 !¡ Je Vous Remercie I am writing this review to request an update or fix to the widget apparatus. I presently have the Sun/Moon rise:set feature on my homescreen, but it does not display any information. Just the words "no permission" atop. I looked up if there were any ways to fix this and was not able to find any helpful solutions. So here I am..Version: 2.7.1

Brilliant appI’d give this 6 stars if were possible. So many terrific features and tools. It is worth watching the very helpful videos to discover all it can do. Also full marks to Adam for his quick support..Version: 2.5

HmmmmAs much as I like this app I’m a little perplexed that it shows the shortest day in the UK as the 11 December (Sunset 15:51) when we all know it’s on the winter solstice which is the 21 December (Sunset 15:54) ? And before you ask.. I'm practically on the Greenwich meridian (0° long) - Am I missing something?.Version: 2.7

Impressed!I've just downloaded this and it seems amazing so far! If you're into photography or if there is any other reason that you'd want to know where the sun or moon is, this is the app for you!.Version: 1.5.2

Just what I was looking for.I was looking for use with photography for sunrise and set and moon and found it to be just what I needed. A great application!.Version: 1.2.1

The highest quality app I have ever usedIt amazes me how much functionality is built into this app. It's intuitive, useful, and always works. Even though the app is for a fairly specialized application, it's the single beat app I have ever used..Version: 2.7.2

AmazingI am a photographer and I know it's important the real view sun position is amazing to gauge building and tree shadow or no sun areas.Version: 1.2.5

Useful app.I have several apps that help me with photography and videography but this is the one I keep coming back to. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in sunrises/sets and moonrises/sets. Very helpful to figure out lighting and super easy to use..Version: 1.3.5

Superb AppAccurate, intuitive, incredibly useful and exceptionally well thought out. Essential piece of kit..Version: 1.2.3

Perfect Candidate Need : Perfect Solution App.There are some real-world functions that are perfect candidates for software tool-set solutions. This "need x solution" combination is rarely a perfect mind storm. In the 35 years I have been using computer apps, I have never encountered such a perfect match so perfectly made, delivered and presented. I last felt like this when I first touched my first Apple Mouse😎. It deserves its own annual Hollywood Oscar! Anybody who teaches a course on what computers are made and what they are best made for, would be well served by incorporating Sun Surveyor into the curriculum..Version: 2.5.2

Outstanding!I design properties which follow permaculture principles and which are usually based on a zero-carbon dwelling. Visiting to observe the site over a year is often involved, but this app allows some invaluable 'cheating' as far as tracing the solar track in relation to the actual landscape horizons - even the shadow caused by a tree is easy to define. So well recommended, I can't think of words enough. Many thanks..Version: 2.0.1

Fantastic value for moneyThis is an incredibly powerful tool for a landscape or travel photographer. Beautifully designed, wealth of information on the day and night sky, perfect for planning a trip or shoot as well as live field use. Superb tutorials. Well worth every penny, and much more. You’ll never leave home without it, once you get it, if you are a landscape or travel photographer. Essential addition to your smart phone or tablet. Thanks to Hudson Henry of ON1 photography for mentioning this in his Plus tutorials on the ON1 website, which is how I learned about this app..Version: 2.4.11

Way more precise than a compassIf you align the Sun for your position (by using shadow orientation, like a sundial shadow, not the Sun itself) you can get pretty precise pole star azimuth. I can get repeatable measurement of plus or minus 2 degrees. The app is very well made..Version: 2.6.2

So goodI’ve had this app for a while now. It was pretty good. The last update made it super good. Works really well. Sometimes the phone needs to be recalibrated to make things accurate (seems much better with the new update) but I think that is more related to how the phone works than anything with the app. Such great info shown to see the suns track throughout a day and year. I use the augmented reality feature the most - I can see the camera’s view with lines on the picture that shows where the sun will be. Would be cool if I could take a panoramic photo to have one picture with all my solar lines that the app can show..Version: 2.3.5

Superb Solar site analyzerThis is an excellent app to analyze a site for a solar array setup. Very easy to use. The app overlays the sun's track on a photo using your phone's camera, with data from any day in the year. You can then clearly see if trees are going to block the sun, and how that will change from spring to fall (or winter!). I’m a long time (30+ years) solar user and this app has helped me clearly understand my property vs the sun's track. Highly recommend!!.Version: 2.6.5

A Really Useful AppI was somewhat apprehensive purchasing this app due to the lack of reviews. However my fears were unfounded, this is a fantastic app that I use frequently to plan my photographic shoots. If you are a serious photographer just buy it!.Version: 1.5.5

Mark FVery useful and accurate app for landscape and architectural photographers. It took me a while to get used to the interface but with use it has proved to be a great little app for getting to a location when the sun or the moon is where you want it to be. Just remember it can't predict the weather! I recommend it..Version: 1.5.5

Amazing for landscape designI’ve used this app for years when creating landscape designs. It’s extremely handy for in the field with live view to assess light conditions, or with map view from the office for getting a good idea of light conditions and shadows from existing trees. It’s incredibly impressive how accurate and useful it is. Worth every penny.Version: 2.8.2

Solar panel locatorI’m using this app for locating Solar panels on my property and making allowances for shadows. For this application, the app is absolutely awesome. A must for anyone doing this kind of projects. Well designed and feature packed..Version: 2.7.1

Get this appIf you need to know where the sun is, will be, or has been this app is for you..Version: 1.0

SIX StarsWe need special ratings for apps like these. This is so robust and broad in what it does, and it does it so easily, so much good information, and it’s so useful in different ways for different needs, well, six stars!.Version: 2.5

Most helpful app I’ve purchasedI purchased this app A few years to help me plan my photo shoots of interiors. I could see in advance where the light would be later in the day thru the windows and know which rooms to shoot at certain times. It just keeps getting better as time goes on. Thanks.Version: 2.6.1

Just amazingAn incredible, original and useful app..Version: 2.7.2

Amazing App! I only have one requestThis app is simply amazing, and makes it so much more convenient to find all the data I could possibly want! However, I have only one request. This request is to add the time of Lunar Noon (the Moon’s highest point of the day) to the Ephemeris of the Moon..Version: 2.5.3

Perfect Tool for PhotographersI’ve never written a review for an app before, but this one deserves one! I am an outdoor light portrait photographer. This app is incredible for judging the best time of day for my sessions, especially when they are at a new location. I love that you can drop in the specific address and see exactly where the sun sets & the location of the sun. Incredible!.Version: 2.7

Wonder-fullI had to write my first review for this app, as it's making me laugh in excitement with what it can do. I've been looking for this exact thing for years: Google Maps based Sun & Moon measurements (even live in StreetView), but until I started using this app did I appreciate the implications for my work in archeoastronomy. It's effortless to use and fully detailed. Some companies might charge 5x the cost for this so hats off to Adam for keeping the pricing competitive.Version: 1.6

Best app on the market for what it does.I use this all the time. It’s very accurate and an amazing tool..Version: 2.4.10

Needs Apple Watch appWould be a lot more complete if there was an Apple Watch companion app so we can have a complication with golden hour or whatever else we want for the local area..Version: 2.7.2

Wonderfully UsefulI’ve never had an issue with its performance..Version: 2.7.2

Great AppThis app is extremely useful when planning a garden. We also used it to find the perfect location to build a deck that would be in shade at a certain time a day. What we would also like to see is a shadow calculator. By entering a height of an obstacle, it would tell you how long the shadow would be at a certain time. Example: a 6 foot pole could give you 1 foot of shadow at noon & 8 feet later in the evening..Version: 2.7.1

My favourite app of 2017Not a photographer, just love science - this is sooo geeky! 5 stars!.Version: 2.3.5

Love this appI’ve had so many people ask how I plan sun and moon events. This is my secret weapon. I use it for planning sun angle for television commercial productions as well..Version: 2.6.6

Glad I upgradedI’ve been using the lite version reliably for a while now and I just decided to upgrade to the full version to check out the AR augmented reality feature. I’m actually that glad I did. The app just works, it’s responsive as it move it around and doesn’t crash. I especially like the time machine feature that lets you scroll through a whole year with a swipe, so you can see the difference between summer and winter in a glance. Street view was a pleasant surprise...it showed me that the sun rose right at the end of my street today, making it “streethenge” for me. That’s what prompted me to write this review. TLDR: it’s fun to use and it works well and the pro version is really really useful..Version: 2.5.2

Best photographer outdoor lighting logistics planner I’ve foundIt’s feature rich with loots of information about sun/moon and light conditions and orientation throughout the day which is incredibly handy for preparing for photography/film production shoots.Version: 2.6.2

100% worth the money!!I have used this app so many times it's not funny!! This app is spot on with what time the sun rises and sets in various locations. It's option of using a satellite view of a potential location, live view for a location at a later time, and compass view are all amazing. It gives blue hour for both am and pm, plus sunrise and sunset, moonrise and moon set and SOOO MUCH MORE!!! Plus, the app's predicted placement of the sun at specific times is SPOT ON ACCURATE!! It makes it so much easier to plan shoots when one knows where the sun is going to be!! I absolutely love this app and its 100% worth the money!!!!!.Version: 2.4.7

Almost PerfectUPDATE July 2015 New ui is great. Nice improvement to the app. ORIGINAL Really cool app. Loaded with features and customization options. The main feature I like is the AR sky view that shows the path of the sun (and moon) against real objects in the sky. But there is also a map view, and even the option to Overlay sun and moon data on top of StreetView imagery. The only other app that I've found that provides some of these features is Sun Seeker, but this one totally blows it out of the water. No competition..Version: 2.0

Amazing sun trackerI mainly purchased this years ago for helping me visualize sun and moon paths, as well as occasional photography help. The astounding level of information and tool packed into this app have exceeded my needs and expectations, and it continues to improve over the years with regular free updates. Photographers will find this to be an essential tool, and I assume many others as well. But if like me, you're just a nerd looking to orient yourself to the motions of the solar system, this app excels at that too. The best thing about this app is the multiple perspectives it offers— first-person perspective with celestial bodies overlaid on the live camera; the "astronaut's-view" 3D compass; and for a remote-viewing experience, the Street View perspective. There is an astounding level of data about the sun and moon at your fingertips as well. But I mainly like the visualization tools. I can't imagine anything else you'd need in a sun tracker app, and would guess you'll find stuff included you didn't even know you'd want..Version: 2.4.12

Incredible AppI'm a keen amateur photographer and this app has enabled me to plot the position of the sun both now and in the future, remotely for planning and on location. Simply put it is amazing. Love the map, satellite, hybrid and street map views. Live view through the phone camera and the ability to access via my iPhone camera or IPad is fantastic. All this and I've barely scratched the surface. I'm no expert and can find no faults, then again I'm looking at what it does do and how it can help me rather than what it doesn't. Worth a few pounds of anyone's money..Version: 2.0.1

Great presentations for various views.Hi. I have used light for about a year. Upgraded and love it. Use for solar panel placements. Setting up camera for sunrise pics. Getting the family excited about events like the blood moon coming up. Showing the kids the movement and the axis’s..Version: 2.5.3

Perfect for landscaping and solar panelsYou can see the sun’s path over an entire year by enabling the Solstices view. Then from any spot you can see how long it’ll be in the sun or shade in each season. This is very useful for planning landscaping and solar panels. The developer also responded quickly to a question I sent via email..Version: 2.7.1

Beautifully DoneVery pleased with app. All the data I wanted is at my fingertips. And the support is unparalleled..Version: 2.6.5

Great for archaeologyBetter than what I was looking for. The map and street view are great and worth the $. I'm using for some amateur archaeology, wanting to see what if lines align with a solstice etc. Thanks from Charlottesville, Virginia!.Version: 2.4.6

A+ Works GreatI used this app to determine if solar panels would be effective all year round on my roof. The techs were impressed at how accurate this app was, and downloaded it themselves on the spot..Version: 1.3.5

Great app for photographyReally useful app. Use it all the time for planning landscape photo shoots for sunrise/set and moon phases for night shots. Coupled with a weather forecast it's indispensable..Version: 1.6.1

Better than ever!I really liked the previous versions of this app, but now it's even better. I'm a professional architectural and interiors photographer, and this app is absolutely indispensable for my job. I recommend it to everyone who needs accurate information about sunset, sunrise and the position of the sun during the day. Keep up the good work!.Version: 2.0

Sun surveyorThis app is brilliant. I have needed this tool for landscape photography for ages. All of my problems with knowing where the path of the sun will on the horizon are over..Version: 1.5.2

Brilliant appDoes exactly what it says, nice interface, incredibly useful for planning which hill to be on, where to be on it, and when to get a nice photo!.Version: v1.2.2

Superb app...but this version appears to have lost something. With this version, when I retrieve a saved situation, it appears to retrieve only the location, leaving the date unaltered from the current setting. I was using the save facility to record the sky state at significant times and places in the past (some even years ago). And also in the future, to plan future photographs. This no longer works. Only the location is saved and retrieved. I retrieve the location of the historical event I saved, but with today's sky. The dates and times of my future planned photographs are similarly lost..Version: 2.0

Awesome app! This app has helped me tremendously finding the perfect time to photograph the Moon and Milky Way. Unbelievable amount of detailed information..Version: 2.5.4

ExcellentWell designed and thought through app. Easy to use..Version: 2.0

Brilliant appThis app is so well considered - it's functionality and design are superb! If you are interested in knowing where the sun will be at a given time and date then this is indispensable and well worth purchasing..Version: 1.5.4

A Must-Have AppSun Surveyor has been a reliable staple of my photography toolkit over the years after trying many alternatives, and has what I think is the nicest UI of them all. The developer keeps the app patched and updated and it has all the features that you need for planning almost any kind of shoot. I cannot recommend it enough!.Version: 2.5.3

Sun surveyorVery good tutorial to make this the easiest and most accurate of these type of apps..Version: 2.4.10

PhotoskyA brilliant, extremely useful app. I use it frequently when planning outdoor photography. Saves time and fuel. Thoroughly recommended..Version: 1.3.5

RobHoreAn excellent app. Recommend.Version: 2.3.3

Love itI was studying Stonehenge and was looking for an app that helped me understand how the monument marks solar and lunar events. This app is great for understanding how the sun and moon move over the year, and how the moon rise and set changes over the 19 year Metonic cycle. Great to be able to move around the sky dome in 3D and to manipulate and animate time easily by sliding your finger side to side. Haven’t even used all the features, but it’s really deepened my understanding of the sun and moon movements above. It’s much easier for me now to walk outside, without the app, and draw imaginary paths in the sky in my mind’s eye, and understand where the heavens are going to move. Love it!.Version: 2.5.3

Best availableTried all the sun position calculators available and a couple of the paid versions and this is by far the best..Version: 2.3.1

Sun surveyorI find it extremely useful for evaluating site suitability for solar panel installation. The camera view allows you to predict when trees or buildings will cast a shadow on the panels at any tine, day or place of your choosing..Version: 1.5.5

Great app! This app is awesome for planning video shoots! If it wasn’t for this app we would be guessing on times and spend so much extra time scouting. Great app!.Version: 2.5.2

Game changerIts superb app fór photographers !!!.Version: 1.6.1

Fantastic appLove this app, the paid edition is full of nice features! Nice work!.Version: 2.0.1

THE utility for outdoor creativesThis app is truly a staple when it comes to sunshine preparedness! As a filmmaker I use this app to save face when shooting outdoors in a location im not familiar with. You are able to input any location and it will bring the ability to see everything in a live view. Lookout golden hour, here we come!!!!.Version: 2.5.4

PhenomenalI have been using Sun Surveyor for at least 5 years. For me it is a constant source of amazement that so much information can be gleaned from it. It should be an essential app for anyone with a powerful Smartphone. Adam deserves much praise for constantly improving this app. If I could, I’d give it 6 stars..Version: 2.7.1

Anthony Blake PhotographyThis is an excellent ap, especially for photographers, just being able to plot sun positions alone make it worth buying. I am impressed with the speed of the after sales service too, I made an enquiry and Adam's replies were instant, very helpful and efficient! Top draw ap and 5 star service!.Version: 1.2.1

No Brainer for photographersThe app is just an amazing tool for getting great sunset and sunrise pics. The map and live view tools are the best and make determining the best position, place, and time so easy. Also lots of data on golden time and blue time really useful for time lapse. Really great value and amazing app..Version: 2.6.2

InterplanetaryAs a photographer I find this app invaluable. Regardless of where you are the information is bang on. Do yourself a favour go buy it. You will never look back. More than likely to the sky..Version: 1.6.1

Industry standardAbsolutely, paid for itself within two minutes of downloading. Ability to analyze a sun path on a location in another state… and schedule a shoot accordingly. Thanks so much to the developers. Heard about this through word of mouth in the film industry..Version: 2.8.2

FantasticI've tried a number of sun tracking apps but this by far works the best and is the most stable. Just wish you could sync your saved locations via iCloud or Dropbox as this would be useful when switching between iPhone & iPad..Version: 1.1.6

Great appWorth all the money..Version: 1.3.5

Not working for Astronomy “history”It works very well when reconstructing the shadow angle of independence hall at 15:22 in movie National treasure 2004. However the app does not work for eclipses in the 16th century. I checked two real astronomy events but the sun moon alignments are wrong in this app. I knew the app is not for historians but it is a pity when you can specify the dates up to centuries ago. You should only keep 21th century..Version: 2.5.3

Best App Out There! As a filmmaker and now solar panel capturer, this app is invaluable when it comes to tracking the sun! It is sooo accurate it’s unbelievable! Like right now I’m catching the sun coming up over my house to capture the most sunlight I can get. Using this app I was able to design my sun platform for optimum position! Also I have contacted support a few times and they have answered! You can’t go wrong with this app! Bravo!.Version: 2.6.5

Great appIn a previous review, I mentioned that the google icon 360 view wasn’t accurate. It now is. The app is great and I use it all the time..Version: 2.5.3

An impressive helper in all things astronomicalI started with locating ideal garden locations for new fruit tree plantings, using AR view. Now it’s my reference for longitude & latitude determinations and sunrise & sunset timings at all times of year. Truly a wonderful app..Version: 2.5.4

Exceptional capability and valueThis app is exceptional and it’s exactly what I’m looking for + more. Its not often I come across an app that’s review worthy in my books, but this ticks every box. It’s got fantastic home widgets too! Best of all, its not an ongoing subscription which is refreshing. Overall a great addition to the photography toolkit..Version: 2.8.3

Such a great appI’ve purchased this app long ago and have been using it for scouting photography locations and learning about our solar system. I’m amazed at the features built into this app. I can spend hours looking through this app’s window to our world. Awesome work by this developer..Version: 2.5.4

Good but I’ve notice the live view isn’t accurateThis app is very helpful but only thing I have to say is the pictures show the moon and sun on the point but right now it isn’t for me any that’s pretty critical when planning for shots. Please help me out with that. I was hoping paying $10 from the lite version I’d have all great features.Version: 2.6.5

Excellent appGreat support by author. Detailed information and great resent action make this a very useful app..Version: 1.2.4

Worthwhile UpgradeThis is a great app. In photography light is everything, and with this you always know where the source of light will be from..Version: 2.6.5

Awesome ToolThis tool has just about everything you could ask for. Use it to plan ahead for photo/video shoots, know exactly how much time you’ll have for light, and know exactly when the moon will be in just the right spot over your nighttime subject. It even tells you when/where the Milky Way will rise and when to get the clearest shot. I love using it while planting my garden. Now I know how many hours of sun each area will get on any given day of the year. Only thing I could see them adding is a constellation overlay. That would blow me away..Version: 2.5.4

Important functionHi team If the difference season sun track can be added into the AR view that would be great! Look forward that Cheers Alex.Version: 2.4.2

Must HaveIt is a fantastic app, the information provided helps with photography, garden, solar installation. Very accurate and great updates..Version: 2.6.2

Superb! This great app does exactly what it says, giving a complete picture of the sun and moon's position and movement at any time, anywhere. Invaluable for photography, setting up solar panels, and a hundred other uses. I had a question, emailed it to the developer, and had a full personal reply within hours. You don't get better than that!.Version: 1.2.5

Incredibly useful, thoughtfully designed app!Honestly, I didn’t think that I would use it as often as I do. It’s useful for so many applications! Photography, planning walking routes, planning activities to do at certain dates and locations, and a lis goes on… The app is super insightful and rich with information. It’s designed well enough for someone newly introduced to it to be able to yield some value from it. Nevertheless, I encourage ones to invest a little bit of time to fully yield all of the value it can bring to you..Version: 2.7.1

Still the best program!Again many years later….Awesome support with this app. Hands down the best. Thanks for keeping this going over the years!.Version: 2.8.2

Excellent AppIdeal for solar power surveys, home buyers, arborist, farmers, sunbathers, the list is long. If you want to know and then see where the sun or moon will be on any day, at any location and time this app is what you need. Like to see it export to my google calendar some ephemeris dates. You love the sun and sky this app you should buy..Version: 2.4.12

Simply the bestOf lots of Sun and moon trackers for photography this one is the best. Simple to use and clear. All the stuff you need but not the stuff you don’t..Version: 2.7.1

The best real estate appUpdated check out info panels it just made this app a 6stars..Version: 2.4.7

Best app in my iPhoneI’ve had, originally the Lite then the full version, of Sun Surveyor for years and it never fails to be fascinating - so many options, so much information. It manages magnificently to be functional, informative, fascinating and beautiful. Always works, the developer has supported it properly in the long term. Just buy it. If you’re looking at properties, or a photographer, nature lover, scientist, pagan, astronomer or just a bit geeky, you’ll be glad you did..Version: 2.8.2

Great App for ArchitectsAs an architect I have found this app extremely useful. I can very quickly assess the potential shadows that might get cast by buildings for any site. It would be great if one day you could turn on 3D buildings and topography in city centres and observe their shadows. For an architect and urban designer such a tool can greatly inform placement of buildings..Version: 2.6.5

Great app!Very useful for photographic applications, saves lots of hassle scouting!.Version: 1.1

The best app for Photo PlanningThis is just the very is a great app to find the position of the Sun ( and Moon ) when planning a Photo-Shoot. I compared it to TPE and PhotoPills amongst and SunSurveyor just beats those hands down. Besides of that Adam Ratana , the developer keeps on improving and is most helpful when needed. About a year ago I suggested some interface improvements which he bettered.
I am a professional photographer and depend heavily on planning photo shoots ahead. This application saved me on first use a surveying trip of around 150 Km. I could do all at home with all the tools in the app. Now know I have to be there at 6.30 AM and can not leave before 6.30 PM …. thanks Adam I have to bring lunch in a box ;-) In comparison with other cheap apps it seems like a hefty price tag of 8.99 , but this sinks to below nothing once working with it, or as I said saving me a 150 Km. trip the day I bought and installed it. Fully recommended by a very experience professional photographer --- are 40 Years working all types camera on most continents of our great blue Planet enough to state this ? ;-) To give an example: I am planning a shoot to have the moon behind our National Telescope, in the very rough and undulating terrain an absolute challenge to find the perfect spot at about 15+ km distance. The error in angle of camera position / angle of view (1200 mm ) can result as you can imagine in a couple of ‘Moon widths’ off the target. Combine that with the near impossible terrain and you can imagine how narrow my margin is. Thanks to Sun Surveyor I found the near perfect spot. ... Near perfect because a rocky dip in the terrain (not visible on Google satellite in the app) forced me to move some 100 meters to the left. But the image was still very much within my visualisation! So impressed by the accuracy of the app.
The user interface beats TPE a fair bit and PhotoPills by miles. PhotoPills makes a huge fuss about how good they are, all I can suggest try out Sun Surveyor and judge for yourself who is the real winner. Marvellous piece of computer programming , very very well done ! Actually I am totally amazed how a human being can develop something like this and that I at my not to young age can hold it in my hands, it somehow feels very futuristic to me but is reality today. Its a pity Sun Surveyor flies so low under the radar of self promotion. It deserves more - should be a Apple staff pick for sure !!
THANKS Adam !!.Version: 2.4.2

Excellent app; very accurate and usefulDoes everything they claim and does it all simply and without a fuss. I've used it many times to plan sunrise & sunset photography and it is always perfectly accurate. Cannot recommend it it more highly..Version: 2.0.1

Really amazing. Addictive app.All I need and probably all you will need. Congrats. Recommended for photographers..Version: 2.1

Amazing!!I almost never buy apps but I can’t believe Sun Surveyor only cost me $10. It’s accurate, educational, beautiful and fun to use. Not only that but the brilliant video tutorials are accessible right from the menu in the app itself. The free version gave me all the functionality I actually need, but the app is so gorgeous and fascinating that I only played with it for a few minutes before upgrading. I’ve been using iPhones for many years and can say unequivocally that this is the best app I’ve ever used!!!.Version: 2.8.2

It does what it says.Live view is my favorite feature..Version: 2.6.5

OutstandingI am a drone photographer/videographer, and I use this app when I am planning the right time of day to shoot a particular subject. It’s accurate and fun to use!.Version: 2.6.2

Time saver! This is the best app for planning sunset and sunrise trips. The killer feature is the ability to search any location in the world and have the guide lines pointing at exactly where sunset and sunrise will occur..Version: 2.5.3

ExcellentThank you for the update! I've been using your app for a while now. It's been awesome to track the moon and the sun. I've just started astrophotography and now I can track the milkyway too! Brilliant!!.Version: 2.1

Track, sun, using street viewUsing this to plan and design. Very well thought out. Easily worth the investment. Also spend the time and review all the options....Version: 2.4.2

WowI am using this app to site a house and it is perfect for what I want, great app, thanks.Version: 1.6

Sun SurveyorWhen I go into info panel to drag and re order, there is no way I can drag and order on my iphone. No problem on my iPad. ?!.Version: 2.6.4

Very professionalI bought this app yesterday and feel I must write a brief review of it, even after just a few uses. We are currently on the Isle of Skye and the app has proven extremely useful. It operates in one of the most professionally presented apps I've ever used. It's accurate and the menu system is intuitive and the options available seem to be everything you'd need. A suggestion though, as an astronomer I'd like to see as well as decimal long lat the minutes and seconds equivalents. A fantastic app presented exceptionally well with almost everything you need..Version: 2.3.3

Absolutely amazing appI have bought lots of apps and this is the first one that has impressed me so much I am moved to review it. As a landscape photographer the position of the sun and moon relative to a particular point of view is paramount. This app takes all of the guess work out of that. No more sitting around for half an hour to ensure I am in place at the right time. The AR View is something else. I can now predict exactly when then sun is going to be in the right position for my shot, whether it is later today or next spring by just pointing my iphone camera at the scene and moving the scroll bar. Just amazing. Well done!.Version: 1.2.5

Sun SurveyorVery useful and clear app particularly for photographic work..Version: 2.1

Indispensable for the serious photographerBrilliantly programmed and logically presented. Photography is about light, and this app provides all the information needed to plan where and when the light for a shot will be optimal. The tech support is outstanding. It paid for itself the first time that I used it..Version: 2.8.2

Really helpedReally helped us arrange plants in the spring for summer sun. We have a bunch of large trees that shade our property. This app let us determine areas that would be in full sun in the summer so we could put the right plants in different areas..Version: 1.6.1

This app is awesomeI use it for film shoots all the time. Well developed and easy to use. Quite accurate and great options to calibrate. Thank you!.Version: 2.5.2

Great app for photography & videographyThe latest version of this app let me add events such as full moon at sunset or sunrise into my calendar, set alarms and specify other entries. All entries are in local times at the locations I plan to shoot. Such entries in my calendar allow me to plan my shoots with high efficiency. Yes, its graphics help me visualize the lighting conditions and select my positions to take beautiful pictures. My day job sends me to locations around the world. This app is wonderful in helping enjoy my photography hobby. Great app..Version: 2.6.1

Great app for Photography.Have used this in Australia and the UK. Nice app for getting those photos in the Golden Hour and for knowing exactly where the big yellow lightbulb will appear. Also another good app to show off the iPhone and "It can do this! WOW". Kudos to the developer and his web site..Version: 1.2.5

Great little appLove the AR view for working out the best position for the perfect photo..Version: 1.2.5

Excellent appOne of my favorite photography related apps. Well worth the subscription for a professional photographer/videographer/drone pilot. It packs so much information into such a small screen without it being confusing or overwhelming. Well done!.Version: 2.8

It's worth it!!As a photographer who shoots out doors most of the time it's vital I understand when and where I will find the best light of the day to bask my clients in. I was really hesitant to drop 12 bucks on an app that I couldn't find any reviews on or preview at the time. I took a chance and have never looked back. I've tried a few other apps but Sun Surveyor is AWESOME. I spend most of my time in map and AR view. The street view function is by far my most used tool, just a shame Google hasn't street viewed as much of Korea as I would like. I just updated today and it looks like a MAJOR overhaul from the previous version. It even addressed some features I was going to request. The one thing I'd like to see is the ability to screen shot with an on screen button from any mode. I see it has been implemented in AR mode but I screen shot from map, street view and other modes all the time and it would be perfect if it was a touch away. Thanks for this superb app!.Version: 2.0.1

Everythin I hoped forSun Surveyor is an awesome tool - I highly recommend it.Version: 2.0.1

Great App!Little overpriced, but great!.Version: 1.2.1

Very well doneThis app is put together very well and has many useful (and fun) features. If you think this app will beneficial for you, I recommend you get it. You won’t be disappointed!.Version: 2.6.1

Great appVery useful, very easy to use, very good!.Version: 1.6

So many uses.Great app! Used this to determine position of solar panels and skylights up in the Pacific Northwest- very useful for determining winter and summer sun angles. I’ve also found it great for nature photography; knowing the phase of the moon and where it’s going to be for long exposure setups, it even shows where Milky Way will be..Version: 2.5.3

Great app, but expensive if your not going to use a lotI have brought the full version to assist me in deciding if a possible house purchase will go ahead, as just found out the trees have tpo's on them. This has assisted me no end with the decision as you can see real time by moving the camera about where the sun will travel through the trees. Although the google maps option is ok, it doesn't really help you see what parts of the garden would be in shade from say a line of trees at different heights. If you could pin a adjustable height pole on the map so it projected shadow lines on google maps, this feature would be amazing and would get full marks from me. However it still is very useful. Not sure how else you could get such info so early. Keep the updates coming.Version: 1.6

Love it!My favorite app when using my solar scope. Lots of other great features..Version: 2.8

J'adoreAyant comme loisir la photographie, il est très utile de connaître l'heure du lever, du coucher du soleil et de la lune ainsi que leur position, de même que l'heure dorée et l'heure bleue. Tout simplement parfait !.Version: 1.6.1

Sun SurveyorExcellent 🥇👏👏 I like to see any more that you have do So please with the effort your team are Dedicated to the project Excellent 👍🏻 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇.Version: 2.8.2
