Apple Podcasts for Negative User Reviews

BafflingThe UI is really unintuitive and has some weird default behaviours. If I’m listening to a series of podcasts and I’m on episode 2, it doesn’t automatically then play episode 3 - for some reason it goes back to episode 1, which is marked as played. This seems like a pretty basic functionality?.Version: 3.7.6

Deletes Episodes for no ReasonThis app became incredibly frustrating recently. It does not sync anymore with iTunes and when it does, it deletes all synced podcast episodes after unplugging your device. Very disappointing to watch everything disappear when you open your downloaded library..Version: 3.8.3

Unexpected Playlist BehaviorI generally like this app, but recently - I like it less, due to some unexpected playback behavior. I made a smart playlist including several different podcasts that have unplayed episodes published within the last week. I select the first episode on this playlist to start playing it and it seems to work ok, but if the app is ever interrupted for any reason and I resume podcast playback, it will start to play whatever partially played episode it was playing last (which is good), but instead of playing the next episode on the smart playlist, it goes to the next unplayed episode of only that one podcast, forgetting the smart playlist I made and playing episodes that are many months old. Because I often am playing the podcasts app while driving, I notice it and am irritated by the lack of variety and when I stop and park the car, I find myself manually adding episodes to “up next” and having to be more ‘hands on’ than I would like to be. The shorter summary is that smart playlists need to get a little smarter. I also have been requesting a new feature to allow me to sort a playlist by episode duration. I prefer to listen to my shorter 5-10 minute podcast episodes first and the 45 minute or the hour long podcast episodes last..Version: 3.8.1

What is going on with the app???I have been using this app for about 5 years. After an update about 6 months ago it is continuously crashing. Episodes I have already listened to will pop back up as unplayed, episodes I’ve already downloaded will show they haven’t been and won’t play if I’m not on wifi, up next deletes, app crashes.. very frustrating!.Version: 3.7.6

Did apple contract this app out?How can Apple, on of the first companies to realize how important user interface is, make such a convoluted and confusing app. Is there really no way to auto play a season from beginning to end? Unless a que up the next episode when I finish an episodes the podcast app doesn’t play anything or starts the newest episode from a podcast I haven’t listened to in over a year. There isn’t even a “recently listed to” menu. I have to search for it every time and figure out what episode I’m on. It has also stopped keeping track of what episodes I have already played. So I put a bunch of episodes in que, this afternoon they dispersed and it started playing a podcast I subscribe to but don’t listen too. I suspect subscribing to the new podcast I want to listen to would fix some of this, but at least auto play the next episode of the podcast I’m whether I am subscribed to or not. I listen while working and sometimes I want to try a podcast before subscribing… I can’t be stopping every half hour to find the next episode if I forgot to air on up. Anyways, this app lacks a intuitive interface and takes to much effort to figure out. I will find another place to listen to podcasts… just hard to believe the company that made podcasts a thing can’t make a worthwhile app for them..Version: 3.7.6

GlitchyI love this app, in that I use it everyday and functionally - in keeping track of shows and episodes etc - it is really useful. However for a core app there are a few real glitches. It freezes on the currently playing podcast a lot. It means you can’t switch to another or continue listening from where you are. You have to restart the app. Just inconvenient. The recent update made things overly complicated with lots of presses to get to your downloaded shows. Also a new (glitch?) continuous play means that rather than playing through your new downloaded episodes it plays through the show playlist so if you subscribe, you end up listening to the previous episodes that you have already listened to. Review is not to discourage public from getting the app (it’s generally great) but to provide feedback to the developers as could be made far more intuitive..Version: 3.8.1

Saved and downloaded episodes not loadingBeen using this app for years without hassle. After the most recent update I am finding that saved episodes will hardly load, and when they do the stop and start. Spent hours downloading saved episodes over wifi which seems to resolve the loading and pausing issue but now all of the “ recent downloads “ have disappeared and I’m now back to where I started last week with saved episodes not loading quick enough. No it’s not my internet connection, not it’s not my mobile data. I have tried several wifi connections and tested download rates, 4G and 5G mobile connections have been fired and still having the same issues… any recommendations? This is 100% from the most recent update..Version: 3.8.3

“Episode Unavailable”I’ve been using this app for 10+ years with various iphones. Initially it was great. Then a few years ago after an update it began saving all podcasts on my phone, using all my storage, and setting to “delete after playing” stopped working. I had to manually delete each podcast from my phone storage. This continued for at least a year before apple did anything to change it. Now, for the past 5 days or so, half my podcasts won’t play at all. Attempting to play results in “episode unavailable” errors. I did a factory reset on my phone, deleted and reinstalled the app 2x, rebooted Wi-Fi, turned off Wi-Fi completely and tried cellular data, and still, my top dozen fav podcasts refuse to play at all. I deleted all cookies/cache/downloaded episodes. Nothing works. Podcasts are the main thing I use my phone for, so I guess my iPhone is useless to me now. Maybe in a year apple will finally correct this issue, but they don’t seem focused on making great products anymore so I doubt it. I’ll probably switch to another player and skip the apple price tag when I purchase my next phone. Very disappointing..Version: 3.8.3

What Happened to the Apple Podcast app?I listen to between 10 and 15 podcasts every week on a regular basis. In recent weeks I have noticed that even though I add podcasts to my queue it is constantly reverting back and playing episodes that I have either previously listened to or have even deleted because I wasn’t interested in that one. They do not play in any sort of logical order so I will often find a podcast that’s several days old that has been skipped over if I’m not paying attention. It has also dropped extremely old episodes into the Up Next section because I’m currently subscribed to that podcast. I don’t understand what is so difficult about providing an app that plays the specific podcasts that you subscribe to in the order that they are received and to be able to re-order those easily if desired. Perhaps it’s Apple’s desire to have you “explore” more podcasts, and so they make it much more difficult to listen to the ones that you already subscribe to and throw in other random episodes that you have not asked for. If I wanted to find other podcasts and add more to my collection, I would go to the explore page, but I do not. Generally I’m a fan of Apple products, but the podcast app has become very frustrating of late..Version: 3.7.6

No longer user friendly - please fix!I’m so sick of a new interesting podcast popping up and starting to listen to it, then if I pause and go out of the app, the app will refresh and, because I haven’t added the new podcast to my library, it will default back to the last podcast in my library that I was listening to. No sign of the new one and not in my listening history! It is super frustrating. This app was much better before the big update, I never had any problems previously..Version: 3.8.1

Resume does NOT mean play random podcastYou wouldn’t think this would be so hard, but resuming has at best a 50/50 chance of picking up what you had been listening to. At least it usually shuffles from another cast from the same author, but playing the one I was listening to 5 minutes ago would be a treat. Some other tips: double click headphones should be back 30s not back to start. Can be hugely disruptive on longer podcasts. Normally gets it right, but messes up enough to be seriously annoying. Downloading for a minute to unpause the podcast I was just listening to is another party trick. Here’s a hint: it’s called “buffering”. If I pause why are you throwing away the buffer?.Version: 3.8.1

Unbelievably TerribleOf all the apps that Apple develops, it seems as though a podcast app should be one of the easiest to get right. Apparently not. This app’s interface is poorly laid-out, making it a chore to do something as simple as find a downloaded episode, with multiple subsections and over-large thumbnails. That’s if the episode downloads in the first place. I found that if I start to download an episode and leave the current screen, the download stops altogether. Even if I wait on the screen to let it complete, the episode sometimes can’t be found in the “downloads” section and needs to be downloaded again. Integration with Apple Watch is also incredibly frustrating. I want to sync specific episodes of a show with my watch immediately, not just a selection of unplayed episodes when the watch is charging..Version: 3.7.6

Not well laid outApple podcast has the best selection but not the most intuitive interface. I like overcast much better but I try not to have too many apps on my phone.Version: 3.8.3

Irreparably brokenI used to use this app every single day to listen to hours of my backlog of my favorite podcasts, then Apple suddenly switched directions and completely removed the ability for users to load and store old episodes of podcasts and manage them as they like. I spent countless hours trying to find a hidden feature to do what used to simply be the natural function of the app, when it was built into iTunes, but to no avail. My huge library of podcast content was simply lost to me. It was first scrambled by the broken Podcast app for macOS, so I could no longer access the files directly, then this app failed to support playback of the files I did have. Archives of older episodes are often very difficult to come by, as many providers truncate the older files, or creators switch services and don’t bring their older episodes over to the new service. My years-old collection was lost. I ended up scouring the Internet to gather up as many of the raw MP3 files as I could find, and am awaiting someone to give me a way to organize and listen to them. Finally, recently, I discovered that iMazing may be a solution to load podcasts directly into this app manually, but my first attempt got some into my library, then they disappeared after I synced my phone again. I just don’t understand they need to remove a core functionality from one of their apps that is used by so many people. :(.Version: 3.7.6

This App is Garbage (and only getting worse)I have missed so many podcast episodes because of this app. The “Listen Now” part is a total mystery to me. It only shows one episode from each of my subscribed podcasts (and NO episodes that I have downloaded just to try a podcast out). And if I don’t have time to listen to an episode before the next one comes around, then it just disappears from there, and I have to go digging around elsewhere in the app to find it. What idiot at Apple thought this would be a good system? Even worse, all of the other podcast apps now charge what seem like exorbitant annual fees. I would gladly pay something reasonable to keep an app updated, but most of them charge way more than seems worthwhile. Ugh. Update: “Listen Now” has become totally non-functional. There are no longer ANY podcasts showing in “Up Next,” even though there are several I’ve subscribed to that are updating. Where is Steve Jobs to make heads roll and fix it like the good old days? Further update: Apparently if my oldest episode in progress is older than all the newest episodes of other podcasts, then those other podcasts’ episodes don’t show up in “Listen Now”? I don’t know. I can’t figure out this ridiculous behavior. So if I have one podcast I like that releases multiple hour-long episodes and I can’t get to them very quickly, then this app doesn’t want me to listen to anything else until I finish all those? Good god what terrible app behavior..Version: 3.8.3

Mostly a good appOne thing that would help the app to be more user friendly would be able to select a series to play in order, rather than having to choose play next every time a new episode starts..Version: 3.8.1

Would be nice if it had a bookmark featureI was running on the treadmill this morning while listening to a podcast when I came across a quote that I really didn’t want to miss but I couldn’t find any immediately obvious way to make a note of it in-app. In the end I had to stop running (I was set to 12 km/h and no way was I going to operate my phone while running at that speed) just so I could jot down some notes before I forgot - and consequently lost my running rhythm, not to mention my body didn’t feel so good getting jolted from 12 to 0 in an instant. Not my best workout experience, Apple..Version: 3.8.1

Once a good app ruined by last updateThe latest update has made this app nearly unusable. It no longer can queue podcast episodes without… duplicating episodes, adding every episode to the end of the playlist (which can add hundreds of old episodes to your playlist). If you come out of the app it will forget which episode you were last listening to so you have to re queue your list. Not impacted by the new version but now annoying is the sleep timer only going up to 1 hour, now the queue is not working properly this means you can’t rely on the app stopping once your queued episodes have been played so I have woken up many a morning for it to be playing 2 year old episodes it for some reason it has decided to play (without downloading). I have often had an issue with a podcast re downloading old played episodes but the individual podcasts have often taken the blame for this… however the vast errors from the latest update makes listening to podcasts painful. I hope they will fix it soon but given it’s been a few months so far and many other reviews stating the above I am doubtful which is a great shame..Version: 3.7.6

Good thing is that this comes with the phone - bad thing user interface. The podcast app from apple is good because it works most of the time - both for audio only and audio video. The bad thing is that there is no good sleep function on it. Also the inconsistency of how podcasts play - EG you have unplayed podcasts but if you have the podcast set to play newest to oldest and say you chose to play the third most recent. Then when that finishes and you have no more older podcasts that are unplayed it will still ignore the newer unplayed and just start going backwards and playing one’s you have already heard There are so many other things I dislike about this that I will be going through the hurt of changing all my podcasts over to another player.Version: 3.8.1

Needs massive improvementsI've been using podcast for a couple of months now. The app needs huge improvements. It always loses the podcast I'm listing to if I close the app and go back, it just defaults back to the very first podcast I ever listened to which is really annoying especially as I listen in the car and have to stop to sort it out. Sometimes it will remember but then won't be able to play it for a day or so, even if I force close etc. it just gets stuck. It also should have a better function remember what podcasts you listen to or have followed. It's almost as if when you open it it's the first time you've used it. It seems a real basic app especially for Apple who you'd think would be miles ahead on this sort of thing. Other apps do things way better..Version: 3.8.3

So unstablePlease make this app more stable. It’s a pain just continuing to play your last played episode. I just want to listen to a podcast!.Version: 3.8.3

Broken! Broken! Broken!!!!!I have been a loyal Apple customer since buying an Apple IIe computer in 1982. For the last 5 years I have been using this podcast app for 6-8 hours a day at work. I would take 20 min to set up MY playlist. I would sometimes binge on a new podcast I found. Other times I would set up the order to match the types of work I was doing that day. Then Apple decided that it knew best. If I set up a playlist, it disappears and Apple’s Up Next order will be all that’s there. Sometimes it will, for some reason , download 20 episodes of a podcast I only play occasionally. I fought it for a while, even using their tool to tell them that nothing is working. I’ve tried to just listen to the order that they decided was best and even that doesn’t work! It won’t go from one to the next, or it starts playing multiple episodes. I can’t pause in the middle of an episode, even for a minute or two, without it jumping to a new podcast. Heaven forbid that I try to go back to the podcast I was listening to because it will then play multiple episodes of that podcast. I hate to go to a new app as I have invested so much time in finding content. Please Apple, just fix this already!.Version: 3.7.6

Queuing doesn’t work anymoreSince the latest update the play last/ play next features are constantly being disrupted and I have no idea why. A random episode is constantly selected to play next which I didn’t queue but when I try to play another episode at will ask me if I want to clear my queue of several podcasts. What’s the point of a queue I can’t access and that doesn’t play automatically? Used to be able to press play and leave for long drives. It’s now really fiddely and will have to change apps if this doesn’t get fixed.Version: 3.7.6

Functionality is terribleThe reviews for this app are so skewed because people are reviewing it based on the podcast content and not the actual app. I have been drinking the apple kool aid for about 10 years now and I can assure you this app needs a lot of work. Everything looks sleek and seems easy to use. But, the functionality is terrible. If you’re listening to an episode from 5 years ago, it will not automatically go to the next episode. Instead, you have to go back into the podcast channel, scroll all the way past the previous 300 episodes just to get to the episode that is numerically next. It’s also terrible at tracking which one’s you’ve listened to and where you stop if you do have to stop in the middle. You also can’t sort the episodes in any certain order. It’s only numerical order starting from the most recent. The only way this app makes sense is if you start a new podcast as soon as the first episode is released on a new channel. Tons of potential but tons of easy fixes..Version: 3.8

Sort episodesLet us sort episodes by length and time remaining. Everytime I turn off continuous playback in settings it goes back on randomly..Version: 3.8.3

Fine, to mediocre, to absolutely unusableAm I the last one using this app? After more than half a decade of using it across my last three iPhones, I had been pushing through the randomly missing episodes it couldn’t see, and then the 5-10 second lag between the UI controls vs what it was actually doing on the audio, to now the crippling part: it just eats all of my mobile data plan, ALL the time. The “Mobile Downloads: always” setting has no influence whatsoever on behaviour - I don’t think I’ve seen a download prompt since at least November - it just downloads every episode of every show, all the time. For the last two months I have experimented with various combinations of app settings. The only thing that prevents it eating my data is “block downloads over mobile”, but then of course I can’t listen to anything unless I temporarily enable it. At which point, all my data disappears. It just ate 40GB of data in 3 days, after I foolishly left it on. I’m done. Thanks for all the solid service over all those earlier years. When they finally let you retire, I hope you’re in app heaven, happily bounding across the celestial networks, every instance of you fully saturating OM4 fibres.Version: 3.7.6

Constant technical issuesObviously I love the amount of free content I get with the app. But the same technical issues have been unresolved since I start using it couple of years ago. The app doesn’t always remember where you finished in podcast. Sometimes it restarts completely different podcast. Many times it shows episodes as unavailable, when you restart them. It doesn’t show last played so you can loose episode that you were half way through. There is many more annoying issues like that. And friends that use the app are having exactly the same issues. It seems like simple straightforward app, so I am not sure why this goes unresolved..Version: 3.8.1

Play order bug after iOS 16.0 updateIt is now not possible to play episodes in oldest to newest order. No matter what setting you choose, it always plays the newest unplayed episode next. I find this infuriating and have tried assorts to work around it, such as creating a new station. The closest I can get is to use play next for every episode to build the correct play order, which is a pain. But this then ignores the continuous pay back setting off turned off, and continues to play episodes after episode. No good I’d you want to get to sleep and stop after the episode ends. I can use the sleep timer, but this has to be set for every episode. If I wake during the night and want to get back to sleep, I just want to press play on my headset to start the next episode and not faff about waking myself up, messing about with the sleep setting. Also, after unfollowing all podcasts, deleting the app, and reinstalling it, I found that it still remembers podcasts that I’ve listened to. I think this is a privacy issue, as Apple are obviously hold data about my past podcast subscriptions that I can’t delete..Version: 3.8.2

Use to work a lot betterI’ve been using this app for years. It’s great that Apple have a podcast where you can quickly access an array of podcast and audio books. BUT the app doesn’t work as well as it use to - it’s freezes the podcasts at the end of the episode instead of auto playing the next episode as it’s meant to, you have to manually open app and click next. It’s also a little frustrating instead of cycling through episodes of the same podcasts series sometimes it will just randomly start playing an episode of something completely different so I have to open the app and go back to the actual series I wanted to listen to. Seems minor but can be a bit annoying if like me, you leave podcasts on for background listening whilst carrying out other tasks. This app also isn’t very easy to navigate in terms of finding certain options that should be really easy to figure out. Such as selecting options to ONLY play downloaded podcasts. Or to ONLY play podcasts that you have added to your library. Overall the app is good but just some small issues I’ve noticed recently with the app slightly take away from the experience..Version: 3.8.3

Horrible after iOS 15 Update!I have actually switched my podcast player after 10+ years of using this one. It deletes my play next list every time I close the app. What is the point of listening to podcasts while you drive if you have to open the app after every episode to find the next one. No thank you! So disappointed..Version: 3.7.6

Makes listening to podcasts a frustrating experienceThis already flawed and buggy app just keeps getting worse. Previous updates to the interface have made it incredibly frustrating to navigate and execute even extremely simple functions. The play next queue that was already unstable (would sometimes clear the list randomly) has now become useless as it doesn’t save anything once you exit the app. Playback of the current podcast also doesn’t resume from the correct spot when you exit the app and return at a later time. Honestly a terrible user experience...Version: 3.7.6

Frequently interesting guests, but…..Interviewer has a really annoying tendency to cutoff and talk over the interviewee and constantly agree and interject with meaningless comments like “interesting”, “ok” and “yeah”. This has two effects, it makes it hard hear what the interviewee is saying sometimes and it breaks up the flow of the interview.Version: 3.8.1

Order of playing is so frustratingThe app works without glitches but has its frustrations too. Why can I not seem to listen to podcasts in the order they were released? Most of my shows have some kind of logical order which I’d like to stick to. I usually end up putting them in order on “play next”, which is a tedious and frustrating manual process. However it doesn’t seem to remember this order when I close the app, and continues to play things in the wrong order, particularly if new episodes arrive. Plus it’s difficult to keep track of what’s in the queue..Version: 3.8.3

App permanently crashed after latest update!.the app is terrible anyway, so much mucking around trying to stop it downloading podcasts. Hard to understand and work. Could be so much simpler. Now the app has crashed since my update 3 days ago, the app says it’s still “Updating Library” yet I have good wifi and it’s days later! Come on Apple fix the app, only then I’ll change this rating..Version: 3.8.3

SporadicRarely syncs playback between mac and iphone. Does not download podcasts I follow without the app being opened. Will not automatically download followed episodes if downloaded first on mac. Often create a duplicate episode when downloading/downloaded many episodes on iphone. Does not notify of new episodes unless app opened..Version: 3.7.6

Apple’s worst app?I’d like a podcast app to allow me to play podcasts in order of release date, please Apple this would be so much better. What kind of a psycho would binge a podcast from most recent to oldest? It’s so buggy on Apple TV, scrubbing mostly doesn’t work (no matter where I click on the timeline, it plays in the same spot, especially if going backwards). Pressing right on the controller skips to the next podcast… when every good app would let you skip 10 seconds or something. Up and down do nothing, there’s no speed controls, the softest swipe through episodes in the Cover Flow mode (ie now playing tab) takes me 2 shows along every time when I only want one, it’s a horror show. I’d like it to remember where I am up to across all my Apple devices including Apple TV (Netflix does all of this better), it files something I stopped listening to with 14 seconds left under ‘unplayed’, it’s generally just not a very user friendly experience for Apple..Version: 3.8.3

Was good now not so much.Started using a previous version of this app which was very good and quite user friendly. Then it was updated for some unknown reason. Now it is just extremely frustrating. It no longer deletes played episodes. It plays episodes of a series in random order. It will try to play an episode which has been already played or even worse an episode that has not even been downloaded which makes the player freeze up until I select an episode I want from my list. There is nothing in the settings which makes any difference to these annoying problems. I am about to try some different podcast player apps and when I find a better one I will be deleting this app..Version: 3.8.3

Great content, clunky appThis might sound dramatic, but I feel like my life has changed for the better since discovering my love for fictional podcasts. However, the podcast app itself has some niggles that can be irritating. 1st off, the default setting is to play in order of newest first. Why? Who listens to a series in reverse order? 2nd, even with a full 5G signal it can take minutes to load up an episode and it drives me mad. 3rd, sometimes it will play episodes one after another which is great, but other times it will randomly load up the next episode from every podcast I follow and I have no control over changing that without manually stopping, going into the channel and selecting the next episode in the series I’m listening to. 4th, if I pause mid-episode and come back to it later, I’m now finding that it’s not saving my place accurately and a lot of the time it skips a few minutes ahead, so then I have to skip back to find my place again. I’d love to have these things corrected but I can’t find a way of reporting these things other than from doing a review..Version: 3.8.5

App not working!I’ve tried finding a way to reach out to the developers to report an issue but I cannot find any way to do that with apple owned apps. So I’ll have to write it in a review and hope someone sees it. There is an issue with this app. Multiple times while listening to podcasts it will stop playing. I’ll watch the timer continue as if it’s still playing with no sound, but then if I keep watching, it will slow down, stop and even count backwards. Like it’s stuck in a loop within the same 3-4 seconds. I’ll press pause and start, rewind and fast forward 10 seconds and none of that helps. The only way to fix it is to close out of the app completely and reload it. It doesn’t need to be updated and it’s happening on my husband and daughter’s phones too so I know it’s an issue with the app and not my phone. It’s becoming so frequent that I can’t even enjoy my podcasts anymore. Please work on this bug fix so I can change my review to a more positive one. Also some advice, please make it easier to reach out to the Apple developers, because if I can’t figure it out, it’s clearly not easy to do. I only found how to reach out to purchased or downloaded apps NOT owned by apple. 😐.Version: 3.8.3

Frustrating! Has become impossible to use…Have been using this to listen to my podcasts for a while now and has been working fine up until a few weeks ago. Now my downloads seems to be stuck in time… New episodes don’t get downloaded on to my device - I can see them there in the list of latest episodes. Even after I manually download them they don’t appear to remain in my list of downloads. On the flip side, old episodes which have already been played won’t drop off automatically. Even after I manually delete them. Every time I close and reopen the app - my downloads reset back to what they were a few weeks ago!.Version: 3.8.6

Apple keeps the hot mess on the burnerIf Apple is wanting Podcasts to be a best-in-class app, it is clear that they don’t actually know how to accomplish that. Interaction with Airplay 2 is buggy (speaking politely). Often, when playing through HomePods, streaming is handed off to the HomePods, which take the bit in their teeth and stop responding to the controls in the Podcasts app. Additionally, the Podcasts app seems to wind up completely out of the loop with no clue as to what is actually being played. Sometimes the app can’t seem to get a HomePod to start playing, though sometimes a workaround is to get Apple Music to get the HomePod started streaming then switching back to the Podcasts app. On another note, I have been used to selecting a podcast to play and actually hearing the podcast start laying before the currently playing display gets updated to show what is playing. I will add the caveat that this does not seem as bad under iOS 15 on an iPhone 13 than under iOS 14 on an iPhone X. If I were on the team developing the Podcasts app and looking to move to a job outside Apple, I don’t think I would mention that I worked on that team in case the hiring manager I was talking to actually used the app..Version: 3.7.6

Works fine - when it works…I couldn’t give this more than two stars given the app crashes multiple times a week. I have an iPhone 11 and never have any issues with other apps, including other Apple ones, so I’m quite certain it is indeed the Podcast app which is the problem, as opposed to my phone. On a very regular basis it just completely freezes, I can’t play anything or even click on anything and the only way to get it going again is to reboot the phone - which is irritating, especially as I listen to podcasts when I’m exercising and it’s a bit of a downer if I’m in the middle of, say, a run. When it works, it works fine. Just wish it worked more!.Version: 3.7.6

Good luck finding the right episodeI can’t understand how apple haven’t bothered to update this app and make it easier to use yet. If the episode you want to listen to isn’t an ‘Up Next’ option (highly unlikely because it likes to give you random options to listen to next) then good luck finding the series and ‘more episodes’ link. And god forbid you’ve gone back to listen to series 1 when series 2 has been released. It will quite happily jump you to series 2 episodes at every possible opportunity. And then trying to find where you were is nearly impossible because there is no logical series/episode structure. It’s probably the worst app I have to use..Version: 3.7.6

I used to rely on thisI have no idea what happened but since the last update at least half the podcasts I follow have dropped off my feed and I have to go chase down the latest ones individually. Very irritating. I tried fixing it all sorts of ways and nothing worked. Apple support is unsurprisingly uninterested. I’ll probably find a better app for this. It’s gotten worse, recently, now I get notifications for podcasts that I then go to look for and they haven’t downloaded, they’re not even in latest episodes. I’m having to check through each podcast and figure out which ones are getting lost. I’m slowly importing things into another app, but it’s really irritating that Apple isn’t lifting a finger to do anything. Also all these people who are leaving 5 star reviews for specific podcasts, do they realize Apple is getting all their ratings and the makers of the podcasts aren’t getting any of the benefit? No fix ever made by Apple. A show that I had paid a subscription to became basically unavailable because although my subscription showed on the page it was still unavailable for some reason. Numerous sessions with Apple got me a lot of empty platitudes and no action. Apple used to be really proactive about fixing problems I guess not any more..Version: 3.8.3

BrokenEver since iOS 14 the app has been broken. If you’re not following a podcast and you listen to an episode? It’ll forget your place once you close the app (or more likely when your phone force closes it) it doesn’t even come up in your recently listened. Speaking of force closing, it shuts down the podcast app so quickly that if I stop listening for what feels like any amount of time it needs to reopen the app. Ofcourse it won’t automatically play the last podcast I listened to! It’ll try and cue another podcast that’s been released since I listened last. The app ust to work perfectly fine but now it’s a broken mess and I would suggest you listen to podcasts on another app for the foreseeable future..Version: 3.7.6

Now that Siri is mostly fixed…… this seems to be the only app left on the roster that actively gets worse with every major release.Version: 3.7.6

Confusing & CounterintuitiveI normally listen to podcasts on my old iPhone 5-that podcast app makes sense and is easy to use. Contrast the current app - doesn’t make sense and difficult to use. The Up Next doesn’t seem to consistently have current episodes. The old app opens to a list of the newest episodes of your subscribed podcasts (why suddenly the switch to “follow”?) I can’t make a play list -only the current one playing plus one “play next”. I can’t easily find current and/or unplayed podcasts. With the old app you can call up a list of your subscriptions and by clicking on each one see your unplayed episodes or with an easy tap on “feed” you can see all available episodes. Somewhere buried in the newer app are “all available episodes” but it requires hunting. Also, if you tap on one of the giant icons (I don’t need giant pictures of the podcasts-better a little smaller and fit more in a window) the episode just starts playing before you can see the full description. I don’t want to beat a dead horse. Bottom line is please just admit this new app is a big mess and go back to the old one. This is the company whose product “podcast” is named after. Why not have a great app to play them?.Version: 3.7.6

TerribleThis has to be one of Apple's worst apps. Needs to be redesigned from the ground up. Please.Version: 3.7.6

Dancing episodeWatched half of a dateline episode and then could not connect to the rest.Version: 3.8.3

Needs a timerI really love this app and all the different podcasts available but it really needs a timer because there is nothing more terrifying than being just about asleep and waking up to some ad playing at the start of a new podcast when I’m trying to sleep.Version: 3.7.6

Terrible appC’mon Apple, this is the last terrible app of yours. How can’t you fix it? Won’t let me play podcast, says unavailable all the time, skips around. It’s just plain bad, fix it please..Version: 3.8.3

Why doesn’t this integrate well with the Apple ecosystem?I want to like this app, I really do. I’ve used it ever since it was spun out of iTunes but I do wonder if there is an actual team of programmers working on it, or a product manager If there is such a team, I wonder why it is they aren’t trying to make it the best platform for podcasts on apple device So here are my niggles Siri can barely do a thing with podcasts. The app offers up stations, to group a series of podcasts together Siri however knows nothing about it. Any request for podcasts results in a random podcast playing Likewise with appletv, likewise with CarPlay and likewise with HomePod. I have bedroom HomePod where I prefer to listen to sleep podcasts AFTER 10pm. Why doesn’t Siri know that I have a kitchen HomePod where I might like my food related podcasts. Why doesn’t that happen without click tap search on my phone And likewise in my car where I enjoy a long form mystery podcast or perhaps shorter talk radio style podcasts. None of these things can be done via Siri learning my preference Nor by my programming shortcuts. The actions available for use in shortcuts are of no use whatsoever Also, why isn’t there a universal playlist so that if I stop playing a podcast in my car and I ask for podcast in my kitchen I get asked if I would like to continue what I was listening to in the car? Please please fix these things Is there anyone at apple listening?.Version: 3.8.3

Poor… Especially for AppleThe only positive I can give the app is that you can search for content and get a nice picture to tap on. Why does it insist on playing the latest episode? Surely if you’re just starting a new series you want to start at…THE START. Even when you scroll down (several hundred episodes in some cases) to the first episode, when it’s over you’ll be sent right back to the top and have to scroll down again. At least add a button that lets you “play series in order”. This seems like the most fundamental rule of any content- start at the start and work towards the end. This is the kind of basic experience that died with Steve Jobs..Version: 3.7.6

Why can’t I just swipe and delete?Apple - I used your podcast app all the time, but when you removed deleting as an easy option in my Listen Now queue, I’ve become clogged with episodes I don’t want and can’t get rid of. For episodes Im not interested in, there is no option to simply delete it — why?? I can Remove Download but then Mark Played, in an attempt to make it go away from the queue — and sometimes that works, but just as often, it does not and remains in the same spot on the queue list. Why in the world? It makes me not want to open up the app and my Listen Now queue, because it’s littered with things I choose not to listen to, making it harder to find things that I do. I may like a show and want to co to ie subscribing, but this or that episode isn’t of interest — and yet, it will. Not. Leave. I’m looking for tech to help simplify and streamline my life and time. Apple, you’re making me go look for another podcast app, because this became prioritized to keep stuff around vs allowing the user to edit easily, as it used to..Version: 3.8.1

I want to like this.Considering some of the advantages of the integration of Apple podcasts with things like Siri and Apple TV, Apple Watch, Mac etc. I really want to use Apple podcasts. But it’s a nightmare of usability. Sticking with Pocketcasts for the foreseeable future..Version: 3.7.6

BugsSometimes it randomly for no discernible reason won’t run a show for me.Version: 3.8.3

This is the worst app I haveLiterally half the time I try to listen to something it won’t play. It doesn’t matter what I try to troubleshoot there’s no difference. Finding episodes is a headache, searching for relevant podcasts is trash. It’s actually the worst app I’ve ever used and I would switch to Spotify if I didn’t have wondery + honestly the minute my wondery subscription ends I’m moving to Spotify and never coming back. I hate this app with a furious passion. It has repeatedly ruined my vibe..Version: 3.8.3

Love it and hate it in equal measureLong term podcast listener - grateful for all the wonderful content but apple PLEASE make the app work intelligently. I’ve tried various tactics but the inevitable silence when the current show comes to an end means yet again the app is trying to play something I haven’t yet downloaded. It always happens when I can’t readily access the controls- driving/running/hands free on headset or speakers. The ‘mobile data’ message I know I’m going to see makes me growl in frustration - I’ve got dozens of downloads ready to play, I’ve set up a playback queue but no, the app has decided I want to jump to something else and I have to get to the app, go to the library, select downloaded and press play again. Please fix this apple - it’s been literally a decade and a half of updates now!.Version: 3.8.1

Why is it so hard to listen twice.I’m trying to listen to a series of podcasts a second time, but it’s just impossible. Because the app knows I’ve already played each episode, it constantly jumps to the most recent episode or to another episode of a totally different podcast at the end of each that I to listen to. This then causes me to have to scroll back through ALL the episodes to find where I was up to (which is impossible if I didn’t note the name of the podcast). The app is good because of the material available, but it’s not intuitive to use..Version: 3.8.3

Syncing disasterI have 5 devices I try to listen to podcasts on, and none of them are able to keep track of what has been listened to and what the progress is for a show I’ve partially listened to. Everything is cloud based but somehow not centrally synced. Apple watch which is synced to my phone can’t even reliably show me the latest available episodes or where I’m up to, the iPad, HomePod and Mac are all displaying their own unique state of play which doesn’t match anything else. Handoff a show from the iPhone to the HomePod and listen to the whole episode, next day the iPhone is still showing it’s partially played status from before handoff. Just a rubbish experiance.Version: 3.7.6

App is broken since iOS 15 updateThis app worked great before iOS 15 update, but now is the most annoyingly frustrating piece of garbage. I constantly have to double check that podcasts are downloaded because they will randomly stop downloading. After creating a playlist of the days podcasts, if I stop listening for any length of time it will reset so that I don’t have anything coming up next…until I add something new to the playlist, at which point everything comes back including things I’ve already listened to trying to replay. I also have to make sure that the app doesn’t register the 10 seconds I listened to of a podcast as listening to the podcast fully, putting it on the listened/ready to delete list before I’ve actually listened to the podcast. Hope apple fixes this buggy app, since they broke it in the first place! Edit: new bug as of Feb 2022. I keep finding that episodes of podcasts I have downloaded are no longer downloaded. They were downloaded, they aren’t played, and they are still in my most recent list but suddenly poof! They are gone!.Version: 3.8

What is happening?!Pros: lots of podcasts are available on this platform and I’ve been loyal to it for years. I’ve been listening to podcasts since 2011 and this has been my preferred app. Cons: However, in the last two years or so, the app has become worse. Podcasts update with new episodes sporadically, regardless of settings. Increasingly, I will play a podcast and instead of that actual podcast playing, it will play another one no matter if I delete, unfollow,, scroll back and forth. Controlling the podcast from control centre is a regular hit and miss in terms of whether it works or not. Sometimes, an episode will be “currently unavailable” when trying to download even though I was just listening to it..Version: 3.7.6

Used to work well. Not any longer 😩Pre the most recent software updates I was able to bring up a podcast and start listening, when it was finished it used to automatically start the next podcast in the series or my favourites…. However since I installed the latest Apple version, my podcast app no longer automatically moves on to the next podcast session or next podcast in my favourites - very annoying when I want to listen to multiple podcasts one after another at night. I have to restart a new podcast once one has finished. Very annoying change. Please fix the problem.Version: 3.8.3

Possibly the worst podcast appI use the Podcast app to download shows for something to listen to while travelling or out and about, camping etc.. often where there is no high speed cell network or any signal at all. Relying on a Poscast app to download my subscriptions and selected episodes, I find the Apple Podcast app has a clunky interface with a limited feature set. I often experience podcasts not being downloaded and have to delete and repeat the download process to successfully get an episode. From years of experience, the Apple podcast app is quite possibly one of the worst ways to experience podcasts on iPhone. I can only suspect many other ratings are reviews of podcasts rather than the app itself, but users should be aware that better alternatives exist and you don’t have to put up with this app to enjoy listening to your favourite podcasts..Version: 3.7.6

The Most Unfriendly User InterfaceI utilize this podcast medium only for certain podcasts I cannot get via the single best podcast medium available hands down and without a doubt … OVERCAST!! I wish their library was as large as this but to compare just how simple and easy to use OVERCAST is over Apple podcast, would be like scrolling the Bible. You guys are trying way too hard. I know your existence must be justified to earn a living but this podcast medium is so over thought and yet under-delivers in every way, shape and form. Exhausting itself over its indulgence of self-importance screaming nothing but “look what I can do…look what I can do…look what I can do!” - way to go Stewart. I give it two stars because I have to use it and I can be appreciative of that. But I am so tired of the convoluted navigational map that no matter what I want to do it’s always; off track, off my pending list and on and on with the back peddling trying to just get back to where I was just at. I don’t want a tutorial, I don’t want to spend hours learning how to hear a podcast your way. It should be as simple as “pick and play”..Version: 3.8.1

Non User FriendlyThe array of shows is great, but this app is, quite simply, a mess. There's no other way to put it. The 'Up Next' queue cannot be easily edited, and navigating your 'Saved' and 'Recently Played' is next to impossible. In the next iOS update, I have some ideas that would certainly help make the interface more easily navigable. I would recommend basing the Podcasts app more closely off of the Music app, which has a much more user friendly interface. Having shows set up more like albums, with options to sort by first to last released or vice versa? Amazing. The ability to clear the 'Up Next' list, and an option to keep or clear 'Up Next' when changing the show or episode? Having easy ways to add episodes or whole shows? Astounding. A 'Recently Played', (preferably above the 'Up Next',) with small logos and an easy way to clear it to declutter? Fantastic. Having a 'Saved' where you can easily see the logos and titles of all your shows? Beautiful. Apple, please, do not neglect this app in your next update. Please, make it user friendly and easy to navigate. For our sanity, and gratitude. Thank you..Version: 3.7.6

DidacheIt grieves my spirit and I’m sure the Lord’s heart to hear someone unqualified to attempt to give translation of a holy teaching. For instance, “he will have no enemies” - in revelation the enemies of our soul are in fact our thoughts. The pastor is interpreting this scripture carnally which is an abomination to Yahweh. An enemy is every thought that tries to exalt itself against the character and thoughts of the Father. So to have no enemies during fasting means that your mind is able to be hedged up in truth and you are able to catch and turn away the enemies of our mind. To teach the Bible carnally is to be a Pharisee. Our Lord called them a brood of vipers. I would love to hear a podcast which purely reads the Didache without any attempted translation..Version: 3.8.1

Needs a queue pageThis app looks very nice but it’s functionally frustrating. Requires too many clicks to add to the queue. Should have a swipe option to add something to the queue. It should have a separate page to view the queue rather than a little scroll up from the bottom of the page. On the queue page, you should be able to view which episodes are downloaded and which episodes are being streamed etc. Also there’s a bug with the current scroll-down queue where a bunch of random episodes are added to the bottom of the queue which don’t have the option of swiping and deleting or rearranging..Version: 3.8.3

ShockingIt's truly shocking how Apple managed to screw this one up so bad. My settings keep reverting back to defaults every now and then, the feed is simply terrible, navigating to a list of all podcast episodes takes ages because you have to click through so many menus, there are playback issues where all of the sudden "the episode can't be played" no matter what I do, despite everything else working fine... Can't give 1 star, because when all the stars align and this app actually work, it's good enough. The ability to adjust the time skipped forward and back and per-podcast settings are great, though the latter is only nice as a concept because the implementation is once again, buggy....Version: 3.7.6

FrustratingIt’s really frustrating that there isn’t a place for just for Podcast’s yet to be listened to. You either have to go into ‘Downloads’ -which doesn’t delete played podcasts for 24hrs - or ‘Latest Episodes’ - which even more annoyingly and stupidly, when you subscribe to a new show it adds every single episode from the beginning of time. The syncing between devices is shockingly poor. They’ve over complicated an App, which should just be a tab for unplayed, a tab to view your subscriptions, and a tab to discover new podcasts based on your subscriptions. Come on Apple, buck up. Look at others such as Overcast. That is as easy and simple as a podcast app needs to be..Version: 3.7.6

It doesn't workI have been struggling with this app for years - and my favorite part is where it just won't play. Anything. At all. I shouldn't have to restart my phone multiple times, to get it to work (and 90% of the time that doesn't help either). Now I have subscribed to Tenderfoot TV and it won't pay the content I've paid for. Apple products and apps are a joke. Avoid them if you can..Version: 3.8.3

Was great for listening while gardeningSome interesting topics we discussed, and I am definitely feeling more motivated to work on some of the things around my place without hiring someone to do so. I do think a nod towards indigenous cultures is an order. There’s a lot of talk on this episode about how dire things were in the past and how we are involved to some type of pinnacle at this point in society or they thought they were a different point throughout society, but you’re talking about white history mostly. Where I live people have been here for 10,000 years or more and they definitely lived very long lives and didn’t have to toil and endlesly and children did not die in great numbers in childbirth. Their technology was incredibly advanced, and their knowledge of earth systems and astronomy was pretty amazing as well..Version: 3.8.3

Please fix this app!!In looking through reviews, it seems that a lot of the five star reviews are people who think they are leaving a review on a specific podcast, not this actual app. I feel like the overall rating is very skewed because of this. I’ve used this app for podcasts since 2015, and use it almost daily. The recent changes that made it so you see all unplayed episodes of a show were annoying enough. I have shows I’ve listened to for years that I’ve deleted episodes I didn’t want to listen to, and now they are all back all of a sudden. We are talking hundreds of episodes I’m weeding through to find episodes I want to hear. Now, it’s even worse! The app won’t save my playlist anymore, AND if I close the app in the middle of an episode, and I restart, it just keeps picking the same episode of a random podcast that I already heard months ago! I’ve tried other podcast apps and just haven’t liked them enough to go through the hassle of subscribing to all my podcasts again because I really did love how this app USED TO organize my episodes and I hoped they would fix all of the problems with this app. It might be time to give up, unfortunately, since it’s been months and Apple has only made the app worse..Version: 3.7.6

Podcasts is neglected and dysfunctionalThe old Podcasts app, several iOS releases ago, was the equal counterpart to music. It had the same system priority, it remembered what you were listening to, and it didn’t let itself get constantly preempted. No more. The app is now subservient to Music. Music is the system default, and when iOS forgets what it was last playing, it always jumps to music and starts back at the beginning of your library. That podcast you were listening to? If you’re lucky you can reopen the Podcasts app and start playing again manually and you’ll be back where you were. If you’re unlucky, you’ll tell Podcasts to play and it will start the latest episode that came in from a random podcast and what you were listening to will have to be dug out of the archives. Hope you weren’t in a hurry. See, if you’re not big into music, Apple doesn’t seem to be interested in you. Podcasts feels like an obligatory app, the result of a responsibility to a medium rather than a commitment born of enthusiasm. It’s also a frustrating app to use, sadly..Version: 3.7.6

Worst inhouse appBy a mile.Version: 3.7.6

Embarrassingly bad from AppleMost of the time podcasts do not load or take multiple tries to start up. If you save a show to your personal library, it automatically downloads every subsequent podcast that is released from that show, then forcing the user to go through and delete each downloaded episode they’ve listened to so they don’t lose the storage on their phone..Version: 3.8.1

Needs a better interface/menu options design. While it is easy to find and subscribe to a cast, the controls for the play list are unintuitive and frequently fiddly. Trying to flag an episode to exclude it from the playlist is sometimes impossible (no tool or option to do so in some circumstances),…and trying to get a list to play in oldest first (i.e historical order, which is important for a podcast about history, for example) is needlessly obtuse. In addition, finding the right function can prove difficult, especially as its not obvious where to find options. Overall, it does the job and is fine if you’re not fussy about the order in which it plays things…but it can be intensely frustrating to use in some circumstances..Version: 3.8.1

Auto plays old episodes now when unplayed are availableI’ve used this legacy Apple Podcast app for at least 3 or 4yrs now. Many of the apps that come preloaded on Apple devices are basic without a lot of customizable features but still are intuitive and function well. This app however seems to have lost usability and features seem to have diminished rather than gotten better over time. I do like the vast number of pods available in the platform and many seem to have fewer commercials than when I use them on other platforms. I also like the basic usability in that you can initially figure out how to use it without referring to instructions- or used to. Also keeping up with my library across devices is great. BUT sometime over the past 6 months or so it seems like some of the default features have changed. The main problem I have is when an episode has finished it now seems to auto play the next PREVIOUS episode, even if it has already been played and clearly shows as ‘played’. I swear it used to go to the next UNPLAYED episode or just stop if you were up to date. Having an old episode auto play is super frustrating when you’re driving or perhaps cooking with messy hands so that you can’t just stop what you’re doing and manually select a new episode..Version: 3.8.3

ClunkyReminds of iTunes. Simplify your UX.Version: 3.8.3

Nobody likes this app. It’s not good. It’s not even decent. I’d say you should throw it all in the trash and start from scratch..Version: 3.7.6

What happened Apple?I’ve used this app since 2016, and the most recent interface update has really ruined my listening experience. First, it’s hard to manage all the podcasts I listen to thanks to this weird change. Second, I’ve accidentally listened to the whole first episode from the most recent season of the podcast (S3E1) instead of logically going from S2E1 to S2E2. While that episode wasn’t too spoiler-y, S3E2 was, so I’m rather angry that some of the plot was spoiled by a stupid technical difficulty. I don’t understand how this keeps happening, but it did this to me a lot with another show, but thankfully I never listened to more than the first few minutes before realizing what happened. I use this app everyday, so I can say for certain that it’s gotten worse with time. I would really like to get back to enjoying podcasts instead of worrying about whether or not the app is going to work properly or not. I’m not even upset by the added subscription service (seriously podcasters need money like the rest of us), but I think it might have caused some of the many issues I have with the app. I’m not trying to say to take the feature away, but this needs some serious work to fix everything that this update caused..Version: 3.7.6

Awful UXApple Podcasts used to be an industry leader. Now it’s just horrible to use. Play order is broken and I cannot make it play series from oldest to newest no matter what I do it I didn’t on playing the opposite order, the “now playing” keeps showing something I listened to months ago, not the series I’m in the middle of, audio randomly cuts out and I have to restart my phone to get it to play again (I’ve tested with different headphones and made sure my other apps still have audio which they do so it’s definitely this app causing the issue), it’s hard to see what I’ve listened to in the UI and I basically hate using it. It’s really frustrating and buggy..Version: 3.8.3

I hate the way they run ADD’sI am ready to delete apple pods cast, due to the Adds they constantly place. In fact the only positive thing, I can say about Apple Pod Cast is that they don’t listen in threw my phone or searches. The reason I know this, is these adds would never play. Due to my extreme distain for the constant add for this subject, I can’t stand listening to my pod casts. I would rather go clean the dog poo out of my yard. To make it clear, if my wife made me clean up after the dogs, instead of the kids, I would be finding a home for both our dogs in a day of it becoming my job. Every add I get, before and after each pod cast, is for football pod casts. I have never cared to watch or follow football, since I was a kid. Since the NFL allowed the game to become a political statement platform, I hate the game, and refuse to watch any part of it. (All sports are so you can forget politics and enjoy life and forget world problem). Please stop with the constant same pod cast Adds or figure out how to look at what your audience might actually be interested in..Version: 3.8.3

This is a really horrible appIf you’re connected to the internet all the time, then fine, this will work. But if you ever use your mobile device to - I don’t know - leave the house, then you will find that the app will have only downloaded some of the podcast you were listening to, and it will stop. This is the case even if you set it to download or save the podcast, and if you ensure its downloaded, because that doesn’t actually download the podcast at all. You can pay for mobile data, which is what they want you to do I guess. But other apps let you download whole episodes in advance, allowing you to listen to them wherever you want. In fact, thats probably the whole point, that you should be able to listen to them on the go. The fact that Apple products still can’t do this basic thing, decades after the internet came along, tells you a lot about the company..Version: 3.8.2

Please add a feature to search podcasts by most recentWhen current events happen, it would be helpful to use the search function to see any recent podcasts that mention the search term. It would lead to me discovering more podcast creators that I otherwise would not see. Instead, search results list podcasts by a poor relevance algorithm that produces episodes from years past that are not very relevant in terms of latest information. For an example, there has been a shakeup in my hometown market where a local media personality has been let go. I would like to search podcasts that cover the shakeup — but instead I see podcasts from this personality that were published 3 or 4 years ago, despite content coming from this person every day. I recently upgraded my rating from 1 star to 3, because most of the bugs that repeatedly deleted my queue, and crashed the app, have been cleaned up. One other feature that should be added is the ability to recover your queue if you accidentally skip queued episodes by erroneously tapping a queued episode further down in the list..Version: 3.8.1

Goodbye PMTI’ve been an AWL for 6 years, but I’m sick of Big Cat’s hypocrisy. He pretends to be non-political and says you’re a loser if you care about the MLB moving the all-star game from Atlanta but then also spends an entire episode talking about racism in America after the Jacob Blake incident and posts videos explicitly accusing conservatives of “ruining everything” in the wake of the Dobbs decision. He has made explicitly political overtures countless times and they always seem to punch in one direction. He is perfectly entitled to his liberal perspective, but there are only so many blatant instances of hypocrisy before I say no mas. I know my “principled stand” will do nothing, but I’m writing this melodramatic/psycho podcast review because I am sad to say goodbye to PMT. I have been an AWL since 2016 and I genuinely looked forward to every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning for the past 6 years. Sounds pathetic, but they got me through some pretty tough times too. What I loved about PMT, and Barstool in general, was that it was a non-political sports media outlet that didn’t talk down to you. Sadly, that changed and it’s now reached a point that I can’t in good faith keep supporting the smug ignoramuses that run that place. They’ve lost one AWL and probably gained a thousand more, so make of this what you will..Version: 3.8.1

I'd give half a star if I could! What's this Apple? This doesn't feel it's an Apple produced app at all. I've been doing my best to find a pattern to follow in using the app but everytime I open this app it has a surprise for me! The component placement differs from a podcast to another! I have to dig in to find my favorites. I think the navigation in such a simple app should be a breeze but here's a nightmare unfortunately. The other glitch I was experiencing this morning was I tapped on a podcast by accident and even after I paused it - still trying to figure out how I can stop a show - it stayed in the bottom section and gestures like holding and draging the bar down didn't work at all. Given podcast is getting very popular nowadays Apple has to level the game up!.Version: 3.8.3

Challenging to useIt plays podcasts, but not always the episode you want. Good luck relistening to a series! Good luck finding that single episode you downloaded from a series you don’t subscribe to! Developers not very responsive, unfortunately..Version: 3.7.6

UnintuitiveWhilst it’s invaluable to be able to listen to many podcasts, this is a frustrating part of the actual app and how it works. When you listen to shows and switch from one to another the app starts to do this by itself. So, if I want to listen to the same show and the app learnt I had been listening to another show it doesn’t stay with the show I was on, you then have to manually go into the app, find the show by searching for it even though you are following it and then scroll for ages until you find the episode number if you were lucky to remember it. Can you change this direction it’s pretty frustrating. Thanks.Version: 3.8.3

Just ok, not great. On my jabra elite active 45e earbuds the skip (ahead) buttons skip the entire current podcast & starts the next podcast instead of 15 or 30 second increments of the current podcast playing. Not sure if it’s an issue with the Enid’s or the Podcast app though. : ( That aside the podcast app itself is in dire need of a redesign the layout & navigation is so stuffy, convoluted & not intuitive in its design at all. This has to be said as I’m sure I’m echoing many others in the UI design that needs a total overhaul..Version: 3.8.3

Updates without improvementThe system has become more complex but does not work as well. There are multiple flaws including queue order, episode playback and a lack of playing episodes in order. Overall very disappointed..Version: 3.7.6

Always lets me down (updated Feb ‘22!)So, you spend your time setting up a list of pods to listen to, but this app knows better, and deletes the list. Every time. You can listen to the first pod, but good luck trying to listen to anymore. After that It just plays what it wants you to listen to. Very very irritating. I hear that the Google Pod App is at least functional. Will give it a go. Update: moved to the free version of Player FM pod in January 2022. Nearly every pod I am interested that I could get on Apple is there. It’s fine… had a small issue because I could not strip out some suggested pods from my “following list”, but I got over that, and it doesn’t matter, because my “to play” list is easy to create and maintain, and unlike the Apple App, actually plays the stuff I line up. Sorted. Never need to use the Apple pod again! Whoop!.Version: 3.7.6

Lost casts since latest update 😰I have listened to Wondery Podcasts for years on apple, but the latest update has completely messed up all of that- WHERE IS THE BUG FOX because I’ve done Everything apple has suggested tech wise and my Wondery casts have not come back. Even on the Wondery app I can’t listen to their casts Because if this latest update 😰It’s not the first time apple has released updates that haven’t been properly checked. Come On Apple! Release the bug fixed update already!.Version: 3.8.1

Very buggy & not user friendly at allI used to be able to easily be updated on shows that I do not necessarily follow, but have listened to them infrequently. I unfollowed those shows because I didn’t want to automatically download every episode that it updates with. Now I have to search for that show and search through their episode history. Then if I play another podcast, I can’t return back to where I was listening. I have to search for that episode again. Also there have been plenty of times where the app has crashed from just simply wanting to play a podcast..Version: 3.8.1

Worst Podcast AppThis app is a mess. You will never be able to listen to a series of podcasts as it will randomly jump to different podcasts in your library. Played episodes will become I unplayed. Finding a a previous episode is not easy. Basically a hot mess..Version: 3.7.6

Use to be great, now awful! This app was so amazing but now has become unbearable to use. A few updates ago (maybe 3 or 4) the continuous playback stopped working. I like certain podcasts to fall asleep to and before I could open the show page, click on the new episode at at top and the episodes would continue playing from new to old. This is no longer a feature. Now I play the new episode and then it just stops playing and suggests I listen to another new episode from a different show. I have learned that you can listen to previously listened episodes but they play from old to new and they have to be in a playlist. I have done all updates, deleted and reloaded the app, signed out and back in, and even got a new phone (not related) but this app now just sucks. If it’s not fixed soon I will be paying to use a different app. If I could give zero stars I would..Version: 3.8.3

Apple Manipulating App ReviewsThe podcast app is garbage. Apple is now prompting users for reviews that users believe are reviews of the podcast they are listening to buy instead it’s a review of the app. This app was rated one star prior to this manipulation because it is a terrible podcast app. It lacks basic functionality, it’s UI is confusing, things are hard to fine, UX make the app seem broken. Of course this review will likely be hidden from view so no one buy Apple employees will see it (shame on you). I hope at least the score counts..Version: 3.7.6

How can this app be this badIt’s been yeeeeears since this app was released and to this day it still glitch. Pls make a subscription model and take my money and give a working app that plays the episodes I want.Version: 3.7.6

Slow to respondThis app is pretty glitchy and is frustratingly slow to respond when trying to select episodes. I still use it for some reason..Version: 3.8.2

Nothing worksThis app won’t allow me to download any podcasts, won’t play any podcasts and is very frustrating. I have allowed it to use data if wifi isn’t available. I’ve deleted and loaded again. Nothing works. I’ll be returning to Amazon music for my podcasts….Version: 3.8.3

Behind the times.I like the subscribe function of this app but there are so many other features that other apps have integrated so well that apple fails to grasp - the sleep timer options are silly, some of us want to set it to longer than 1 hour, which you can’t in this app. The queuing option is useless if it can’t be edited, it’s not possible to add an episode or change the order of episodes. Seriously apple, you’d think with your focus on user friendliness you would have figured these things out by now. Uninstalling.Version: 3.8.3

Great app, but requires a few basic featuresReally enjoyed using the apple podcast app, but it really needs some basic features, such as the ability to view podcasts via oldest to newest. Some shows are continuations from the previous episodes and it’s really annoying when it jumps to episode 7 (latest episode) when you’ve just finished episode 2 😅. I know you can queue shows, but it’s not always practical. I hate having to use anything other than apple apps, but I’m now forced to move to pocket cast again. Please apple, fix this basic issue 🙏🏼.Version: 3.7.6
