Glucose Buddy+ for Diabetes for Negative User Reviews

An example of how to ruin a good healthcare app experienceI loved this app before they changed to the subscription model a few months back. There are so many things you used to be able to do that aren’t available, even small things like using a custom label instead of before/after a meal. And now in order to share your graphs with your doctor you can only go back two weeks and you have to print it out vs email it. It’s a real shame not to be able to afford an app that used to be an asset to my medical care. I would have been able to use this app had there been a one time purchase price, but I can’t justify adding another monthly automatic charge just to log my glucose levels. I used to hype this app to everyone I knew with diabetes. Even my doctor was impressed, although I had to explain what happened when I could no longer send her my full detailed data via the health portal. Now I tell everyone about the app, explain how the developers forced a subscription model on users, and use it as an example of how patients suffer when profiting from their diseases becomes the goal. I wish I had never trusted this developer with my data. Now it’s locked away and I had to start over again with another app..Version: 5.132

Poor appApp forces you to sign in - before you have even tried it out. Before you have trust in it and providing your personal information I would avoid this. You don’t know where your information is going too. Very bad design.Version: 5.116

Poor synchingSynching fails about half the time. This spoils what would otherwise be a great app..Version: 3.7.0

No stars. Very misleadingI paid close to $3.00 and then in order to access features you are required to pay close to $50.00. I actually paid for a useless tile on my screen..Version: 5.334

Horrible customer serviceThis app used to be a lot better and it was free. You used to be able to link with their online service and now you can’t. I thought it was because I hadn’t paid for the premium app so I bought it and it still doesn’t link to their site. I emailed them several times about this and didn’t get a response for a week. When I did get a response it was “we’ve decided not to link the app with our website.” So I sent them another email asking for a refund since this app isn’t even as good as its previous free app and they won’t respond to my email. Very dissatisfied..Version: 5.132

I’m need more But I like itI am starting enjoy the updated version A little bit more. I do wish how ever that you have more vendors choices of locations and foods. I wish you add the amount of water you drink to the main page as well..Version: 5.232

The idea is great but...Is an ok app. Having troubles uploading my logs due to connection. I end up re entering my details again and again. Wrote to support to get answers or solutions and still haven't heard from them..Version: 3.7.0

Disappointing updatesI have been using this app for more than 5 years but their latest update blocking the “insights” tab prevents me from seeing my historical A1C, blood pressure, weight and steps. I paid for access but they want more money after all these years. So this app is useless now. I am deleting. Company interested in profits only. Too bad..Version: 5.334

When it works......It works well, but freezes quite often. Perhaps it needs an upgrade. Syncing operates just fine. Is there NO other measurement for food than grams?.Version: 3.7.0

Want the old one backThis app is unsuitable for parents wanting to record data. It's only good if the patient carries the smartphone.Version: 5.114

Good concept, serious flawsI’m sorry I purchased a subscription because I’m not sure I can stand this app for a year. I love that it integrates food, meds, blood sugar and exercise. I don’t love the food database. Yes, there are an enormous number of foods, but they are poorly organized. If I want to log a tangerine, why is the fruit itself several pages after foods made with tangerines, or tangerine flavor? There are multiple entries for identical foods, often with conflicting nutritional information. There should be a filter to select native data (from the original food database) and allow a user to ignore entries made by other users. There is also a flaw that make all food entries at the time of the initial morning entry, forcing one to manually change each food. This program needs som serious updates for it to match its reputation..Version: 5.132

No supportAlthough the application is ok. I find it locks up a lot on my device. I've tried emailing support again and again and have never received a reply back even advising they got my email. Even the best app with no support isn't any good. Actually get a support service in place and I would likely recommend this app. Right now though stay away.Version: 3.7.0

Not the best appBought the full version. Reviews seemed to indocate that this is the best app out there. Bar graph are not usefull. 75% of the time you cannot sync your data to the server... Emailed for support a week later no reply... Go with excel and save your money.Version: 3.7.0

Good Tracker - Poor reportsI oped to upgrade with some improvement in recording results. No improvement in reports. My doctor wants to see averages for certain periods. No averages and difficult to read. I guess I still need to make up my own reports. Disappointed. The graphs defy understanding..Version: 3.7.0

Don’t updateI was fine using the app as it was without additional purchases. I have maintained an A1c below 7 most years only exceeding 7 4 times since 2014. However each time I update this app they take away features I have had for free and now want me to pay for them. This was basically a decent app that they want to be a cash cow. Recently I updated because the promo said that there was a improvement in the insights tab. Prior to the update I was tracking my glucose, weight, steps & blood pressure in INSIGHTS over multiple years. What lies. After updating the only thing I can see in INSIGHTS is previous glucose readings. All the other data that was available on my phone is no longer available. Further, the app no longer records my daily steps for me to see. I do not see this as an improvement. I needed to get another app just to keep track of my steps..Version: 5.334

Used to be goodUpdated the app last night. It has now locked some of the functionality so I would be forced to upgrade to their new ‘premium’ version. I thought what I already had was the full version. Sneaky marketing strategy..Version: 5.120

Not so great anymoreI used to love this app. I even paid for it a few years ago. And now, we’ll it’s a subscription! That’s ridiculous! Many can’t afford this kind of stuff. Not only that, but this app was better and easier the way it was! I miss all the tools I had long ago with this app. I find it hard to use and hard to find information when needed. And keeping track of my A1c is impossible. I can’t afford to pay over and over for this. Medicine costs enough..Version: 5.184

The graph is stupid. The other app that I was using was much better and more intuitive but I had to switch to this because of bugs. Glucose buddy does have some good points, like the amount of information you are able to store, more or less given your pref, but one of the very disappointing aspects is the graph option on the app. This should be a way to quickly see what your sugars are doing in visual form, but instead of one graph line there are 3, for high, ave and low, which means you can't see when your rising and falling, just that you are. Fix that one thing and it would improve the whole app..Version: 3.7.0

Helpful but could be betterI use the app regularly. However, it could be better. While you can export data to Excel spreadsheet (from within website), date-time is not in a form that Excel recognizes. This makes it very difficult to do customized stats (e.g., before bed BG average) or charts..Version: 3.7.0

Pro version does not syncNot worth buying it if you want it to sync with web because it does not sync..Version: 3.7.0

UpdatesGood app but unless it is updated I can no longer use it with IOS 11.Version: 3.7.0

Not much supportThe app is great but syncing is buggy. Syncing both ways is why I paid for this app. The developer is completely ignoring complaints about this in the official forums. Seems like customers are more of a pain than anything else for the developer. I advise waiting for the next release before paying for this app. Hopefully the sync issue will be resolved by then..Version: 3.7.0

Doesn’t work on my iPhone XI downloaded app and purchased subscription as I wanted to use with my Dexcom G6. I set up my user info and etc. The app froze once I tried to link my G6. After that, it only opens to the glucose Buddy app’s opening screen and freezes there. I’ve deleted it and tried to reinstall a few times, but I can’t get passed the initial logo screen..Version: 5.334

If it ain’t broke, revise it so it won’t workThese guys are masters of “updates” of questionable necessity, of giving no instructions about how to navigate the changes in an update, and introducing new features that don’t work. Such is the case with their latest. No clue why they wanted to change it. No help on how to get it to work, and the introduction of new features which prevent you from entering accurate information conveniently. It took me two weeks to figure out the last upgrade, which finally worked acceptably. Now a new upgrade which does not accept glucose readings being entered without exiting that screen and going to another for corrections. It sure looks like you have no diabetics in your software team. Or maybe they’re comatose from inaccurate readings?.Version: 5.248

App is great, but unwanted tracking is notI really like what this app can do. It is a good diabetes tracker that works well. What I don’t like - really don’t like - is that it sends my data to Facebook and Google in the background and without my explicit permission. It’s in the fine print of the privacy policy almost at the bottom. Until this sharing is removed or I am allowed to turn it off in the app, I will not be using this app anymore, which is too bad, because as I said, it’s really good at what it does..Version: 5.188

Great till the crashJust like Wall Street, this app was going really well till the crash, then month/years of readings gone! App wouldn't sync for ages and when I restored, it didn't bring back any of the readings I thought had synced to their server anyway. Very disappointing, I am using it again, but write reading down in a book as well, like a cave man. PS: other diabetes apps are way worse!.Version: 3.7.0

DangerousYes, this app freezes up a lot, but the worst thing is that my machine needed a hard reset EVERY DAY while it was installed. At least once a day i found that my iPhone would not connect to the web. I replaced my iPhone thinking I had a lemon, but the behavior continued until Glucose Buddy was removed..Version: 3.7.0

Cannot use in iphone 6 plus 😡💔👎I upgraded to pro version but it didn't work even cannot display the main menu! Please fix it up otherwise refund..Version: 3.7.0

False advertisingReally disappointed because the app does not 2 way sync and as I've been using the app for a month before finally get feed up with the adds and 'upgrading' all that data is no lost or at least cannot be views from the app and there for I an left having to start all over again. Please fix 2 way sync if it wasn't for this issue I would give this app 5 stars.Version: 3.7.0

Good app, just falls shortThe developers for Diabetes:M, MySugr, Sugarmate, and Glucose Buddy need to get together to integrate their apps to build a true “ultimate” app for diabetics. I was excited about Glucose Buddy because the design itself is nicer looking than Diabetes:M AND it could actually integrate my CGM data; however, one of the best parts of Diabetes:M is the bolus advisor and insulin on board indicator. Without those features, there’s no point in me using this app since it tracks the same things that the Dexcom and Diabetes:M apps track when used together. I wish I’d read more closely before I paid $2 for the app..Version: 5.234

Does the jobHandy to use but graph of blood pressure and weight hard to read, with no sense of scale. Good for the blood glucose though..Version: 3.7.0

WasteDoes not sync with the free version. Lost stats.Version: 3.7.0

Too buggyI’ve been using this app for many years and was very happy with it. Now not so much. The new model is truly troubled. Since the last release, the app has become too buggy to be of use. Just opening the app takes several minutes. Sometimes it opens and immediately closes. Once it opens entries cannot be made until it’s good and ready. Occasionally it just totally freezes up! I used to be able to estimate my A1C, but no longer unless I want to pay for it! Nope not me! I got so fed up with the bugs that in a fit of rage I deleted the app and all of my data. Wish I could give it less than one star..Version: 5.182

Upgrade not working-support doesn’t respondI paid to upgrade but good luck getting in touch with anyone when your upgrade doesn’t “take.” They are equivalent to thieves-take your money but don’t deliver anything in return. App functions pretty well-it does what it is supposed to do (most of the time-crashes notwithstanding)..Version: 5.262

Seizing upEver since I upgraded to pro this app seizes up on me every time I try to record my blood sample.Version: 3.7.0

I want my money backWhat a waste!! I had the old version and any information saved there does not transfer to the Pro version. Give me my money back or work on what is broken on the Pro version😖.Version: 3.7.0

Do not pay for thisCovered all my needs, but now syncs only once in a blue moon. Zero support from company since last update (october 2012)..Version: 3.7.0

Awesome paid app, if it didn't still sell premium stuffI like the app. Allows me to log all sugars & eats. The reports are rather generic, but informative. Feel the ads for premium can be kept to the free versions, considering the cost. Or at least give the option to hide. Sorry, don't wanna buy multiple times....Version: 5.120

Not the best App on the BlockThe Developer is totally null and void!! I have tried several Glucose Applications and this happens to be my 3rd. This app is the best so far out of all of them. However, it has its limitations and the developers are really negative and none responsive regarding suggestions about improvements!! The help section is totally worthless!!! For an application that boasts being the best, it really needs a lot of work. One of my biggest complaints is it will not link to your Apple Watch App for information about steps, etc. as I wear my watch from when I get up to when I go to bed. I don’t carry my phone with me all the time and you have to for it to track your steps..Version: 5.184

Good App But….I’ve been using this app for over a decade. My only gripe is they keep removing features or make them available only if you subscribe to their premium version. I know it’s in their business plan but sooner or later, I may have to look for another way to track my blood glucose levels..Version: 5.364

Not happyI couldn’t permanently delete an insulin type so recording BGL/insulin was a chore. So I paid for the + version thinking that would help - no diff!.Version: 5.156

If it’s not broke don’t “fix” it.The old version is much better, easier to use, less confusing. Paid for it and have buyers remorse. Once you “buy” the app, you get in and they want you to pay even more to use things that are useful. Get “glucose tracker” app. Easier, gives you what you need, and doesn’t cost anything. Save your time and money..Version: 5.164

Text too small with the new updated versionOriginal format was more user friendly - could use it without my glasses. Not the case with the new & updated version..Version: 5.114

Sorry you changed the appI’ve been using this app for a few years and have been pleased that I could track blood sugar, carbs and most importantly the 24 individual medications that I take daily- several prescriptions are multiple times daily. A few days ago the app was changed and I now have several more keystrokes or ‘buttons to push’ because each medication has to be logged individually, then then add medicine and then save. Previously I could click down my entire drug list on 1 page, then click through the dosages all on 1 page at one time and then save. So I now need to go through adding each drug at a time which is time consuming and frustrating. I have dexterity mobility issues. I wish this new change could be undone. This new change did not enhance this application in any way..Version: 5.196

App Was seriously Degraded in last UpdateThe lat update tremendously degraded the functionality of this application!! Previously, it was useful in tracking blood glucose and viewing trends. Now, it appears to have been turned into a sales vehicle for meters, strips, and coaching. Being n medicare, I have my supplies already covered. Why would I want to start paying twice fir them. Having been a user of this app foryears, I am very disappointed!! I will likely need tofi d another app that will allow me to do what this app previously did. What were you thinking??.Version: 5.334

Not bad app bit buggyIt does most of what I need but it freezes when about to enter a BG sample. Have to relaunch app to get it in. Annoying..Version: 3.7.0
