✓ What is the point...I really want to like this app and use it regularly. I usually get on the net using my iPhone’s 4G, I have found a local hotspot that I can connect to with no problems using this app. But when I try to register using my email I keep getting the pop-up message “wrong name”. I have tried registering using three different emails but get the same baffling message each time. I really want to register and would appreciate some feedback from the developers if they read this. ✓ Waste of timeProbably one of the worst apps I have ever come across. Firstly, it's extremely limited unless you pay for it, requiring an Internet connection to download the data in order to get onto wifi to get an Internet connection! I then had the opportunity to try the full paid version on my partner's iPad when we went to Thailand. I must have been through easily a thousand access points roaming around Bangkok and guess what? Not ONE was listed in this useless app. What's worse is that when comparing the list of AP points given by this app, NONE of those exist either. So you have the situation were NONE of the actual AP points found by the iPad are known to the app and NONE of the items listed in the app actually exist either (I think they're just made up by the creators to give the illusion of lots of info provided by the app). ✓ Details, THE TRUTHI opened this app and looked around, in great hope of it being useful! At first however I was disappointed so I went to the look at the reviews. Some: GREAT others: STUPID. Here's the truth. You need internet to access your location and stuff. Nice app when your on internet so you can see hmm this is the password for the pub down the road is (example) you copy this, go there and boom you have wifi! There is a 1.2 radius of where u can see which I think is improved in the pro version. Good app overall but doesn't work without internet!.Version: 2.5.0

✓ It’s ok, but could be betterI don’t like that the offline option is only on the pro version. These hotspots have been contributed by the community and it’s not right that WiFi Map turns around and makes a profit on the collective work of others. Ads are fair enough though. Also, I can’t contribute myself because the search function does not find the place I’m at (even though it is showing on the map). To add confusion to the mix, the pro version on the AppStore is £4.99 (reasonable I guess?) but the ad in the app says it’s £30 a year (I actually laughed when I saw that!) All in, I did manage to get connected in some places so it does have enough passwords in its database to get by (as long as you are in somewhat populated or touristy areas)..Version: 4.0.33
✓ Screwed over contributors that built the databaseThe submit review button asks if you like the app and you have to say yes to write this. The database of WiFi hotspots was built on the backs of longtime contributors who now have to pay monthly for the privilege. This app’s ability to crowd source updated wifi access points and passwords is going to suffer. Trust and goodwill are precious things. Think twice before using this app..Version: 6.3.0

✓ Very useful app, most of the times…I downloaded this app thinking it would be very useful for when i cant find wifi connection which happens to me a lot, it was quite useful the first time i used it at a nearby coffee shop, until the next day i came by another coffee shop and looked for the wifi password on your app only to find that the app kept crashing for some reason. I went home and tried to restart the phone and even re-install the app, but nothing seemed to work. ✓ Not worth the moneyThis app didn’t work very well. I purchased 3GB of data to use whilst in Morocco. I turned on the mobile data on my first day and after it was on for about 15 minutes I only had 90MB left! No idea how so much data has been used up. Not worth the money. ✓ Don’t use them for eSIMs.I got a 10GB plan with them and only used 2GB, but through some unknown passage (neither me nor my partner) The rest of my GBs were taken through my personal hotspot (after I noticed the first 4 disappear, I turned off my hotspot, so I have no idea how this happened.) This has never happened with any eSIM I’ve had before. They were unable help identify what happened or refund me even though I didn’t use the GB in my plan. Big waste of money. ✓ Beware of misleading scamI had the free version of this app on my iPhone. I then download the FREE version of this app on my iPad about 2 weeks later. When downloading it on my iPad, the only option was to accept the ‘FREE TRIAL’. As soon as I accepted what was clearly prompted to me as a 3 day free trial, it charged me $40 for a yearly subscription. ✓ Great App— or WasThis used to be the gold standard for finding WiFi. But the developers took the app offline for a few years to update it, which is great— the new app is amazing. But in the meantime they lost all the users. Traveling the world and almost all the data is 3 years old, and only very sparse updates. Not sure how they can lure the users back- but might be worth ditching this app to find where everyone went while the devs were on hiatus. ✓ The app Killed my WiFi connection.I downloaded the app on the weekend with the intention of setting it up in a few weeks when I when off travelling. So I did not set up the app at all, I just downloaded it. Suddenly my phone wasn’t connecting to my home WiFi or my work WiFi which both had been reliable and sturdy connections for the past year. The connection just keep cutting off and I would have to turn off my WiFi then on again on my phone for it to find the connection again then the connection only lasted moments. I thought that possibly something might be wrong with my phone or service provider , very unlikely as I have a new iPhone 12 Pro Max and the service provider had no reported issues but I thought I would give it 24 hours and see if it got sorted. After 24 hours and several reboots of the phone and still no usable WiFi connection I decided to remove this app. Once removed all WiFi service returned to a normal stable connections..Version: 6.1.0

I had to talk to three apple support agents and they could not identify or solve the issue the app was causing. Deleting this app was the only solution and fixes my issues. If you are looking for wifimap hotspots better resources exist for more secure locations and if you want Esim plans, go with a provider that owns significant telecommunications infrastructure.
