✓ Why is loading taking so long?Why, every day I open this game, I get a message to download 80 odd packets of data and then once that’s downloaded and the game partly opens, it says I need some resource packets (another 140 odd packets) and that takes ages. ✓ Latest update ruined the gameI’ve been playing this game for 6 years. Up until the latest version update in January it was really fun. Now they’ve ruined it. The winds can now get up to 7 mph and you have to adjust way off the course to compensate. They offer a “watch” to reduce the winds but it’s effect is minimal. Plus you have to spend tons of stars to power it up. Most items you could previously purchase with earned star you now have to buy with real cash. They force you to play match games or you are set back to a beginner no matter how long you’ve played. My scores went from -13 to -6 because of the wind. People are leaving the game in droves. The game is playable until you hit level 50 which doesn’t take long and then the 6 tees and up to 7 mph winds kick in. It’s all a money grab to try to get you to buy consumables and power the mostly ineffective watch. I understand the company needs to make money but financial reports say they make $70k a day from this game. So it’s purely greed what they’ve done. New player? Don’t bother. It will be fun for about a month and then the 600 yard big hitters and cheats will make you lose constantly and feel like a piece of crap.Version: 8.0.5

✓ Not bad but not greatThis is by no means a bad golfing game, it’s just nowhere near the best golfing game app. If the mechanics are less realistic (which is this games biggest problem) you would like to at least see realistic characters. It’s just silly how quickly the ball comes to a stop off of the tee. Even if you crush the ball and it lands in the fairway on flat or even slightly declined hill the ball stops like it just hit the bunker. There are games with much more realistic mechanics and physics that also have more realistic looking people. If you’re wanting a golfing game with both then get Golf King, it absolutely blows this game out of the water..Version: 8.1.0

✓ Wishing servers were maintained?This game is one of my favorite all time games on my iPhone. Been playing it for over 3 years, but recently(as in this week) I have been completely unable to even access it, as it goes to the loading page and completely stops, along with an appearing “script mismatch” error that shows up after 5 minutes. I understand they are working to try and fix the error, and I appreciate the game play I have enjoyed for so long. But this almost feels like I need to find another game to move on to. ✓ High winds ruining the gameBeen playing for three years. Spent hundreds. The recent upgrade added high winds. The winds are so bad that you have to aim completely off the course just to hope to land near the fairway. It’s all so golfstar can force you to buy a product that reduces the wind effect. This company does not care about users it wants to make money. Gameplay used to be fun but the winds ruined it. They also changed the way users rank which effects the level of rewards you get. It’s all to force you to buy your way up in level and spend consumables to play a challenge you don’t want to play any way. Don’t waste your time. Golfstar will take your money. ✓ Latest updateAccording to GolfStar I need to update to the latest version. Tried several times but no good. What is going on? Normally love this game but this situation is dreadful. Come on GolfStar, get it sorted out! 23/3 here we go again!!! The update has caused yet another problem. I cannot open the game and am worried about deleting it to reopen. The last time I tried this I lost everything so had to start again. I have sent emails but never receive a reply. Such a pity as I really enjoy playing. ✓ GlitchyThis game is fun but aggravating. First and foremost, the game can be glitchy, especially on an iOS device. Right in the middle of live match the game can freeze and crash, requiring a fresh restart. If you’re not quick to realize the problem, you can’t restart fast enough to win your live match. Secondly, there are physics engine and coding issues. Shot inconsistency is a problem. Hitting a high shot, to an elevated green, into the wind, the ball should not travel 20 yds farther than under more neutral conditions. The putting guides can sometimes be way off. Adjust your putt to the left, hit it a little soft (which in real life would cause the putt to break more) and the putt misses to the right, more than the original putting guide showed, before the adjustment. Read all the reviews. The same issues are still prevalent. If you can live with the glitches and inconsistencies…go for it..Version: 9.5.4
✓ Good but needs workLikes - game play, game modes, ways to get stats, ways to improve equipment. Dislikes - downloads(724mgs EVERY SINGLE TIME I OPEN APP and I open almost daily), selling equipment(should be able to sell more than one at a time), loading(always loading...). Problem - Golf star national pro, Golf star world pro and Golf star master pro are all milestones I have completed but for some reason they show not completed on the milestone list. Sometimes these milestone notifications show up right when I open the game and say they’ve been obtained but then I go straight into a additional download screen and am never able to accept the milestone. Question - how do I duff a shot? Lots of people diff shots on the putting greens instead of actually putting. I did it once but can’t remember how. Just think it’s cool and would like to know. ✓ Ad watching is out of orderLoooong time player, generally a decent game. The ad watching bonuses are a problem. Many times you watch an only to have the game freeze up AFTER the ad is over. Leave the game, come back and you get nothing. I’ve lost hundreds of stars and countless other treasures to this issue. I doubt it’s a scam since not being rewarded makes me less likely to watch additional ads. If you’re considering this game just be aware, these types of problems are not unusal. My issue and why I’m giving it two stars is because the match challenge feature is not working properly. When I start a match challenge I can’t proceed past my first tee shot. After I hit my first tee shot, it gives me a stroke penalty due to timing out. It gives me a stroke penalty after each turn for “timing out” then says the match will restart when I am connected to wi-fi. My internet is fine. I enjoy the game overall but it’s disappointing I can’t fully enjoy the match challenge feature, hence the two star rating..Version: 8.4.0

✓ Mandatory IAP's to play more than 3 holes. Free version is nothing more than a demoFirst time starting this game I get a popup ad. Ok fine, it's a free game so I kinda expect that. What I don't expect is the fact that I cannot even play a full round before being bombarded with "offers" to upgrade (read pay) to continue playing. Now normally I would give this game 3 stars as it is your basic "two tap" to swing golf game that has been around for 10+ years, but the crippling IAP requirements makes this game virtually unplayable and an "instant delete". I tried playing this as with no IAP and found to my disgust that you can only play 3 rounds before getting prompted to buy some "hearts" which allow you to continue your round. This is ridiculous for a game advertised as "free". I my opinion IAP's should only be offered to enhance your gaming experience, or maybe unlock some bonus stage, but to force you to by credits to play more than 3 holes is ridiculous. The physics and game play is nothing special and looks like games that I played on my iPhone 4 years ago. I had a quick look at the IAP prices and they are obscene. Well over $100 to fully enable all options is nothing short of a ripoff. Do yourself a favour and save $'s by buying one of the dozens of similar (and better) games that you can get for free (or at most, a handful of dollars). Now I have to agree that Universal can share my information with the rest of the world in order to play the game without it crashing every 5 minutes, not going to agree though. ✓ Too much going on with the HUDThis game looks nice, however it lacks in usability. The controls are not intuitive and difficult to navigate. Narration is not easily cleared off the screen and aligning the shot basically gives you one chance and then you’re stuck taking that shot. Generally it’s a very crowded screen although the graphics are decent. Finger placement is an issue as well and triggering and unwanted action seems to happen way too often. ✓ Stop with the the UpdatesThe game is very enjoyable to play but there is a lot of updates for some reason. This is really annoying and makes you not want to play. A number times it will tell you ‘Mismatched Game Versions’ and need to update before you can play, but there isn’t an update and the only way to fix this is to delete from your device and re-install and download all the updates again. I haven’t come across any issues with the gameplay(other than mismatched versions) but still the constant updates that’s seems to be fixing problems or something. The forum seems to be very touchy with ‘Banned Language’ even when there isn’t any bad language in your post. It often crashes at the failed attempts to get the game running. They have even built a message that if you continue to have problems reinstall the game. ✓ Fun for a few hoursThe graphics and game play is really it’s strong suit. At low levels it is really fun. Let’s be truthful. This is a pay to win game. You have to spend a lot of real money to compete. There are to many boosts to your drive and putt guides etc. that you really must have to play against other players at mid levels. When a mid level (60) can put boosting tee’s and balls down with a power boost drink and drive 450 yard green to beat you in the 1 vs 1 Challenge (which the game puts as a requirement to do your daily missions) it drives you to buy stars. Then there are all the gambling “lucky” boxes that players buy and buy to get the top equipment and power ups. But hey you will have fun the first 30 levels..Version: 7.0.3

✓ Great Graphics, realistic play, perfect for cheatersI’ve been playing this game since it first came out, and I really enjoyed it until recent changes made it so obvious to cheat that the fun and competitiveness is gone. Leagues and seasons are ridiculous when you are constantly facing players who have unfair advantages. Nobody hits the ball 500 yds within 5’ of the pin - so while course play is realistic, player skills are not. Perhaps having legacy “pro” leagues for cheaters and gamers, and competition and recreational leagues for players interested in realistic game play and competition would bring more players back. Or the option to leave a game where the competitor is obviously gaming you would be good too There’s simply ZERO fun without real competition and skill..Version: 9.0.2

However, when they added the ability to eliminate wind with the ‘absolute wind down’ feature, the game became one of extremes, players who once excelled when making strong tee shots and good putts are getting destroyed by course mappers who make a hole in one on nearly every hole. New players have no chance at all. Some of the game modes(guild battles, customized near pin etc.) are so broken that they are no longer playable for any but the ‘0 watch’ mappers. ✓ A good game ruined.When I started playing this game around 10 years ago it relied on skill, knowledge, knowhow, but over the years, especially the last couple, it has taken a dive downhill. No more skill required, no fun challenges, battle mode is completely stuffed with the introduction on a magic watch that can score 9 hole-in-ones for players who have time to draw maps and map out aim points on the screen. Absolutely ridiculous. Builds of over 15 are virtually non existent now because so many players have left the game in disgust. You need to spend large amounts of money to keep competitive. I’ve lost a lot of friends since the introduction of the windless watches simply because they lost interest in the way the game has developed. I would not recommend this game to anyone anymore. The fact that one of their main customer service topics is “Failed Purchases” shows that this is a regular thing for them. ✓ Disappointing gameI really try to like this game it has some great features. BUT the one huge glaring problem is the total inconsistency on the wind factor and how there is now way to gage a 2 mile an hour wind. I can hit the same exact shot on the exact same hole and one shot will go over the green and the next shot will be short. It drives you nuts as soon as you think you have figured out what effect the wind should have such as in real life on the ball you hit it goes nowhere near where it should. I will copy what someone else said, before you even hit your shot the game has already decided where your ball is going to land. Fix this single problem and it’s a 5 Star game as it plays right now after about 4-6 holes you want to turn it off due to the inconsistency. Update again after several game updates you guys can still not figure the wind out 3 mile an hour wind at my back I hit a full club and come up short of the green. Back out of game go back in play the same hole again with a 3 mile an hour wind in my face hit less then full power on same club hit way over green. ✓ Version 8.0.6Since updating to this version the game is slow to load, screenplay is jumpy / jerky and it regularly closes down and kicks you out. Prior to this update it worked fine. It was a 5 star game until now!.Version: 8.0.6
✓ Like a nazi hate rallyUnreal for weeks now the chat room has been has been a string of repeated racial slurs. Either the game makers are powerless to stop this or the just don’t care. You can see how low the rating of this game has become and they don’t listen to the feedback. They screwed up the wind, no consistency and no body wants the stupid caddie compass either. Oh and so much fun you work for days to earn a costume only to get a notice you have that costume. 5 times in a row? Really when I have at least 12 outfits available. I will be looking for a different game and deleting this one. SHAME ON YOU FOR LETTING THE HATE SPEECH GO UNCHECKED!.Version: 8.0.6
