✓ Voice recognition needs workGreat app in theory. The voice recognition is horrible though. I get to my email and have to think hard about what I actually wanted to remind myself about. ✓ Downgrading my reviewI have loved this app for a long time and considered it one of the most useful apps I’ve purchased, but I’ve recently come to have serious doubts about its reliability. Recently, I’ve been receiving emails of things I sent myself via Braintoss weeks and maybe even months ago. This concerns me because I often use Braintoss as a “fire and forget” tool so that I can send thoughts, websites, etc to myself and forget about them with the confidence they’ll be in my inbox. When things are showing up weeks and months later, it makes me wonder what other things have I sent that are still somewhere out there in limbo?.Version: 6.5
✓ Incomplete MessagesVery disappointed as I've just recently downloaded this app. Voice transcription only sends part of the message and then ends it with ellipses (...). This makes the voice feature useless and was the reason I paid for the app..Version: 6.8.179

✓ This WAS a great appI’ve used this app in my GTD workflow for years. With the latest iPhone upgrades and a new iPhone XS, the app gets stuck on the in the voice recording screen. Swiping up to get out of it does nothing. A big strength of this app was its ease of entry and ease of exit to make collection quick and painless. That’s no longer the case. So, I’m off to find another “record and send” app. I hope there is one as good as Braintoss used to be..Version: 4.2.5
✓ Apple Watch stopped workingI LOVED this app and used it daily. An update removed the watch app and now I have no use for this. It was a key part of my time management system. I was able to dictate a task to my watch and it would show up in my to-do list. Now I have to use Quick Notes in OneNote, which I don’t like near as much. Disappointed. I really loved Braintoss but only got about two months of value out of it. :(.Version: 6.5
✓ Voice recognition is a jokeI use this app every day. It’s incredibly useful. It would be perfect if the voice recognition worked.. at all. It’s not just bad, it’s soo bad you wonder if it’s a joke feature, like a bad game of Chinese whispers. The transcription is literally nothing like the audio and you’re left wondering how it could get it so wrong!.Version: 4.2.5
✓ Used to be great, not now. Not as good as you think.This app was brilliant and absolutely flawless 3 years ago. Since then, the development team think they are making it even better by adding more bells and whistles at the expense of the crucial tools found in the original version. And despite my feedback and from others - they don't seem to be listening and give the impression ‘we know best’ As a PKM master (personal knowledge management) they should listen to people like me who write blogs and do youtube stuff about PKM. I used to rate this app as the best but no longer so because of the way the new features ruin the old. In fact I think the Evernote app is better only because of this reason. They make sure their basics work super well. My gripes: (1) To cut and paste something, for example, from WhatsApp to Braintoss is very clunky and difficult. When you press and hold to paste, 70% of the time it does not work. And then you have to click the plus button to simply do a paste. It’s so incredibly annoying. (2) when you send a note - it often doesn’t go straight to your email inbox. It hangs about for days and days in your Braintoss repository until you hit refresh. This defies the whole purpose of Braintoss - which is to get stuff out of your head and into your mailbox system. So you need to not just add your note but remember to reopen the app after to make sure all the queued notes get sent!!!!! They have still not fixed this despite me raising it a year ago. (3) my biggest gripe: when you type away in a note, and let’s say it’s quite a lengthy note, because you are taking notes from a meeting for instance, even the slightest swipe either left or right with your thumb - for example when trying to place the cursor at a specific point in the note - will mean you lose all your work because swiping left or right moves you over either into a photo note or audio note mode. This will delete everything that you have written in the note mode. And the swiping does not need to be a large movement. This means that when you type away and click on the screen, sometimes your thumb may make a very slight swiping movement either left or right and all your hard work is then lost because it translates to action as if you are moving to an audio photo function. This is a massive annoying feature and you feel like shouting at the development team for developing such a stupid feature. Surely if I want to do a photo note or an audio note I would like that at the start. Why on earth would I want to switch when I have made that decision? It’s just incredibly stupid. Just get rid of this feature Braintoss. Get rid of the swiping left or right to move to a different mode. If I want a photo or audio note, I will make that decision at the start. 99.9 percent of us do not need to switch note mode. All of these things tell me that the development team are more interested in the bells and whistles or are more interesting the icing on the cake than the cake itself and I’m happy to make the icing on the cake look amazing while letting the cake become cardboard and dry. Use Evernote app. I can confirm I have no strong affiliation to Evernote. It’s just that they have developed a better app in terms of functionality. I want to love Braintoss because I was with them right from the start but like a lot of app creators, they create something wonderful, start making lots of money, they ruin it by adding features they think make the app even better but at the expense of basic functions. When they improve these feature I will rave about them again on my youtube and website platforms. Until then Evernote all the way. In summary, Braintoss is no longer a great capture tool - mainly because it doesn’t send your notes to your inbox straight away. The lag can be days!!! And your note is easily wiped during the process of creating it. And you can’t paste things easily from another platform like WhatsApp..Version: 8.1.1

✓ App failed on the second dayThe audio option doesn’t work, like others have stated the speech to text translation is terrible. The text and photo options worked on the first day, but no longer send to my inbox. It’s probably for the best anyway, it’s not like it is extremely difficult to email a picture or message to myself using my iPhone, and I can put a title in the subject field so that I know what the picture I’m sending myself is, which you cannot do with the Brain Toss app. Looks like good old Howie and his GTD gang swindled me out of a couple more shekels..Version: 4.2.5
✓ What have you doneWas working great now it’s done some sort of update. It’s lost all the settings I put into it. After I reset it it will now not allow me to take photographs. It has access to the camera ok but every time I click to take a photo the app just shuts down. So this “upgrade” has delivered a non-functional app from one that just recently was completely flawless. Very bad for me wish I could wind it back..Version: 5.0

✓ Shady stuff going on here...Look at “all reviews” and sort by most recent to get a feel for how people are currently experiencing the app. Released a new version to reset their star count maybe? On Twitter they say something about erroneous mailchimp charges. Then someone reports their main Braintoss site is hacked. Then we all start getting old messages re-sent to us. In their terms of service they claim old messages are vaporized after two weeks. They say it’s a glitch with that version of the app, but it’s hard for me to believe them with so much other shady stuff going on. I would recommend avoiding this app until they tell us what exactly is going on..Version: 6.7
✓ Sends all by itself!I had 47 Braintoss emails at one time, with no input from me. Came from my Note 10 Plus 5G. Turned that phone off. Next, received another 30 Braintoss emails from my iPhone 11Pro Max. All recordings, all from an idle phone of two formats! Used this app frequently, but now uninstalled. ✓ 1st loved. Now hate.I just dictated into brain toss extremely important copy for my business. And then brain toss stopped. That’s been happening a lot lately. I do not know why the screen just inexplicably goes away. And whatever I’ve dictated disappears. Now my copy is gone and it was really really important to capture. So I can’t trust Braintoss anymore. ✓ Does not allow default address changeI accidentally typed in the wrong email when I set up the account which automatically got set as the default. The app allows one to add another email address but does not let one change the original default address. A change of address can be made before sending each message but I often forget that step and simply press send and therefore never receive the message.Version: 8.1.1

✓ Getting worseAbsolutely love this app but it really needs maintenance. Last time I gave a 4 star review with a minus point for the terrible transcription. Recently the camera has become useless too, scanning upside down and then trying to do OCR on text that’s the wrong way up. Time to switch - don’t bother with this..Version: 4.2.5
✓ Great Idea, but needs workThe overall idea of Braintoss is awesome. As soon as I heard about it from a GTD podcast I downloaded the app. Basic review, does the app work; yes, you can quickly record a voice note which will be emailed to you for action/filing/etc. Where the app needs major help is; 1) the voice dictation is pretty terrible and comical at times. I’ve yet to record one voice message where the dictation is correct. They developer should really just remove that function until it’s corrected because it degrades the value of the app. 2) the UI of the app is SUPER outdated; looks like it’s running on iOS6 or something. A revamp of the UI would be nice and the ability to add it as a widget in the quick search section would be amazing. Little tweaks would make this app unstoppable..Version: 4.2.5
✓ Developer Abandoned?Last update 10 months ago. I find the concept and the app to be great, but it’s very buggy. Sometimes the app never sends the mail, it just stays queued forever. Sometimes the app registers emails have been sent, but they never show up. Have tried all the troubleshooting techniques suggested to no avail. Has the developer abandoned keeping this current with the latest iOS?.Version: 4.2.5
