✓ Not 100% ready for iOS 14The game is suspending/restricting accounts of users that have upgraded to iOS 14. Why? The intel side of the game’s anti-cheating is getting triggered with iOS 14. ✓ INGRESS is amazing, this version needs some work.Update; Still playing. still enjoy the game as a way to explore the world. Seeing lots of multi accounting tho, and it's a bummer. Previous; I used to love this game And play 7-8 hours a day. I still love the idea of it. I still adore the people who run it, i just really really hate change. And I miss the simple genius of the prior interface. It didn’t care if it was pretty it cared about getting you to the place, allowed for low data situations, and do the thing efficiently. Yes prime can link faster but takes three times as long to deploy resos. This negates a lot of the energy around building portals when routine commutes can’t lay resos fast enough to be of value in non urban settings. Still hoping for the best and a game that values simplicity over gamey over shiny shennanigans. When I go anywhere different it’s great to play there and maybe do a mission (capturing many different portals for a badge) Ingress can be free for everyone, the upgrade is not necessary for ordinary play. ✓ Warning - time sink!Massive game that gets you up off the couch to play. My local town is a heavily fortified Enlightened area so there's always plenty to smash as a Resistance player. Have met lots of other players socially since starting. Great fun when you get out as a big group and "roll 8's" :-) I just wish the devs could get the comms working reliably. Comms stay blank and don't load messages about 50% of the time in iOS. Oh and the occasional laggy server responses can make things a little slow. That being said, I get to places plenty slow enough now anyway as I no longer walk or drive in straight lines ;-).Version: 1.68.0

✓ A few suggestionsThis game is amazing at mixing ar and real life in an online war. I just want to point out just two things to make the game better. 1. Clearer tutorial The first thing is that I don’t think the tutorial might have been clear enough, because even after the tutorial, I didn’t know how to use the weapons or what the power cubes were. I don’t know, though, maybe you did. Maybe it just has something to do with me being part of the resistance. But still, even so, you should be a bit clearer. 2. Easier time leveling up The second thing is that this might go only for me, but it’s really difficult trying to level up. Now, when I say “easier time leveling up”, I don’t mean it being a cakewalk, because those games usually get boring after a few weeks. I mean that instead of taking you, for example, a week to level up, it just takes four days. All in all, this is a great game, and I hope you improve a lot :) EDIT: Also I think another benefit might be to add the app on watches, so you can check on portals and km will count even if you don’t have your phone or iPad with you😉.Version: 2.92.1

✓ Turf War!Super fun game if you travel! You don’t have to be good at it you just have to get off the couch and explore. The only change I would make, that I’ve notice so far, is if you have a cluster of portals in your circle it would be nice to be able to hack them all at one. ✓ Good, solid gameI have been playing this game for 10 years and remember very well how terrible the old client used to be. When they introduced the prime client, it got much better, the flows were much easier, and the bugs and the cheating went way down. It is definitely not perfect, but it is good enough to have a really great time playing. One of the things that I love about the game is that no matter where I go, I can find things to do with people who have similar interests as me. ✓ Buggy GPS DirectionA fun game to get you exploring. Issue - The GPS is always pointing north no matter what I do - I’m using iPhone XR. Niantic are aware of this and are working on a solution. The rest of this review was for a MUCH earlier version! I have started using Google+ to communicate with other players. BUT: Since this is a Google game, the iOS version is buggy -- especially latest version which is whole new levels of annoying/frustrating! Get used to re-launching the app and cussing at it regularly. ✓ Fantastic Ingress!My colleague got me into this game. He wanted me to get onboard and join the Resistance (blue team) so we could work together on the game. I was very dubious at first and thought it was a bit geeky and a bit odd. I installed the app and was instantly hooked, it's absolutely brilliant. It's easy to master (helps if you have a friend to ask for advice - if not in game comms is a big help, lots of friendly players happy to lend a hand) The game is HUUUUGE, there are so many players worldwide and portals pretty much everywhere. I find it amazing how much the map swings from Enlightened dominance to Resistance and vica versa. So many players are on it, especially in big City's, it's an ever changing battlefield. As mentioned earlier, regarding in game comms, I find everyone so friendly and helpful. I was dubious at first as I'm not the type of person who wants to meet up with strangers to play a game, that's not my thing. I have met a few people (quick "Hi") in the city I play in but other than that, if you want to stay autonomous then that is perfectly fine! Just give it a go, hack, link, deploy, field and mod away and within no time you will be hooked and levelling up! Nice one Ingress! Love it!.Version: 1.96.1

✓ GoodI really like Ingress. When I first started it seemed so mysterious and there are lots of little tips and things to learn in order to play effectively. The game is mainly about capturing territory but if you get fielded over you can’t do much at all other than hack. It feels like you need a car to stand a chance at getting any decent MU so it becomes fuel heavy. I find it’s monetisation a lot less intrusive than Pokémon as you don’t need to pay to raid or play parts of the game. The deploying lag is rage inducing and I get it most days randomly where I have to stop and wait for res deploys to go through. The community are old and set in their ways so can be of putting to newcomers as everyone assumes everyone else is cheating. There are Far too many backpack accounts and people abusing multi accounts though. Nia are better at banning cheats and spoofers on this game more than the others..Version: 2.88.1

✓ Choose your faction !Ingress is a wonderful game, the predecessor of Pokémon go and other augmented reality games, produced by Niantic. It takes a little time to figure out how to play the game effectively but once you get there you can soon gather enough AP to level up quite quickly and progress in the game. Basically you choose a side either Enlightened (green team) or Resistance (blue team) and you get to capture portals by placing resonators on these portals which are points of interest in your local area. A great way to get exercise and keep it interesting, highly recommended.Version: 2.109.3

Once you're near a portal I highly recommend going through all the tutorials. ✓ My go-to gameAnyone who scored this game poorly mustn’t understand it. At a basic level you have to make triangles with either the blue or green team (whichever you join) and take down the opposite team’s to do so. It’s simple and it’s combative without being violent. It’s strategic and it’s everywhere. This game has kept me distracted while my wife shops or while my car is washed. It’s taken me beach driving to a lighthouse at midnight and made walks more interesting. Going on 7 years this game never stops being fun and challenging, I have met most all of my fellow players and enemies in Phoenix AZ. There is no other game like it, I’m 65 yo now and enjoy a bike ride everyday to attack enemy portals! There are many players in each city looking forward to you joining their team, very social. ✓ Phone shutting down when you open ingressI love ingress it is my favourite game I think it's brilliant but I'm having problems with the new update and so is my friend, we have completely different iPhones I have a 5S he has a 4 but since the new update our phones have started just shutting down on say 20%, 35% or 49% for no reason and refuse to turn back on till you plug it in to charge and then we it comes on it will say it's still at 20%, 35% or 49% and it's works normally un till you open ingress and then it shuts down again? The only thing that has changed is ingress I'm not sure if it is the app or what but when my phone keeps dying in the middle of the day on 35% for no reason it's horrible! ✓ Niantic Backfires AgainIn what appears to be becoming a bit of a habit, Niantic have messed up one of their games. Really this was the game that put them on the map. It had a huge following and was a revelation. But a failure to deal with cheaters and exploiters dwindled that following down to just a handful of casual players and a group of obsessed gamers. In a last, desperate attempt to re-kindle the most popular game of the time, Niantic released the now Infamous “Prime”. Beset by problems in the beta tests and seemingly unable to cure these issues in time for the hastily rearranged launch they are left with a game which is pay-to-win after opening up in-game items to the in-app store. The graphics are modern and swishy but drain batteries faster than is believable, the interface lags and animations take forever. It feels like someone put a Monday morning into a Friday night game. ✓ This is next level geo taggingI started to play because people I work with and know personally were starting to get this game and talk an in app language. I started small at first then I am playing on my morning walk to work, my lunch time walk, and my walk home. O then I started planning weekend walks to hack portals. Then I realised I had walked over 100 Km playing the game. I have lived in this city for over 30 years, yet I am discovering thing that I have never seen. ✓ Much more than a game..This is much more than a game, it's a social tool, it's an exercise tracker and it's a strategy war game. You have to get out of the house to play it and that is addictive. The fresh air, distance to targets, the chat with your team about your plans to win the game. It's incredibly addictive. I find myself planning trips to new cities just so I can ingress. ✓ Playable on fast phones, different from PoGo and HP:WUIngress Prime is now (Jan 2020) almost at parity with the original, on fast enough phones. Developments from here out will be interesting. Ostensibly simpler than either PoGo or HP:WU, the underlying game of team-oriented territory acquisition has its own appeal and plenty of subtleties. The sub-games of glyphing and missions broaden that appeal for PvE players. The functional overlap with the other two Niantic titles, through the roster of in-game locations means there’s potential to play two, or even all three, usefully. It adds an extra dimension to just walking or riding around. ✓ Addictive and makes you get activeOnce you get out there and start claiming 'portals' (that are actually interesting things to see in the real world like old buildings, arches, architecture, statues etc) you realise you're gaming and exercising, so your step count goes through the roof! Even more so when a portal you claimed is attacked and taken by the other team. I've found myself playing this every time I'm outdoors, so it combos well with things like fitbit. ✓ A way of life more than a game.As the game before Pokémon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, you’d expect Ingress to be very bare bones. It’s deeper than the two combined. Ingress combines the idea of playing in the real world but visiting points of interest outside in the biggest open world game to date. Planet earth is your playspace. Rather than catching animals or magic entities, Ingress is a faction based turf war game between factions, either Blue (The Resistance) or Green (The Enlightened). The core mechanic and from the lore is to connect real world POIs, represented in game as Portals and make triangular fields. The Green’s use these triangles to enslave humanity from extraterrestrial mind invaders, while the Blues use triangles to protect the unbeknownst population. The team you choose is arbitrary, but what determines your style of play is other players. The game is a full online multiplayer game, so working with others is invaluable, you can’t cross links so making sure you work with your team is essential, and together you can achieve amazing things. This game attracts gamers of all demographics, looking at my local community, we all come from different education, my background is Mathematics, but we have who have studied all sorts: Politics, History, Geology, English, Computing, Sport etc. The current version (Ingress Prime) wasn’t popular at launch in 2018 but has since matched the original Ingress and exceeded it in other ways. It is a smaller game compared to Pokémon Go, so events and updates are fewer and further between, but Ingress has a dynamic, ever-evolving core mechanic, and has potential to be played in so many ways. I emphasised the diversity in the community, this is mirrored by the many styles of play. My mathematical way of thinking has me planning efficient ways to make fields (triangles) and making as many as possible in a given area. Others enjoy making art by following a link plan, others like to plan operations to make a fields over cities. No two agents have the same style of play. Since Ingress is a game played outside, not on my sofa, it’s done wonders of it my mental health and giving me a reason to go outside, get some fresh air and some exercise. I sometimes refer to a play session as “Triangle Therapy” I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an unorthodox game to play. ✓ Love the game, but riddled with bugs...Ingress is a game with core gameplay centred on visiting new places and connecting them together, a bit like a dot-to-dot. Now imagine that this primary mechanic is broken such that you can’t connect those dots, even though you should be able to. You must restart the app every 10 minutes because of this bug. ✓ Don't get the negative hypeI played this wayyy back in 2014-2016 and it was a lot of fun. Picked up again, hesitant from the negative reviews... just as good as I remember! Plus a neat new drone feature for limited hacking when you don't have time for a walk. Apex was a solid addition too. ✓ Eye opening, innovative and immersiveI’ve been playing Ingress for a good few years now and the introduction of Prime has only added to my enjoyment. I’ve been to so many places I would never have seen, discovered landmarks I would have otherwise walked right past and met people I would never have known. The team work hard behind the scenes and show a genuine interest in making this a more immersive experience for its players. I highly recommend this, and I urge other players to stick at it because once you learn the basics there is so so much more to Ingress Prime than meets the eye. Collecting and upgrading your medals is highly addictive and drives me on to be a better player. I wish more people in my area were Ingress Agents and the more that join, the better it is. ✓ Don’t believe the Review Rating!For those looking for a great game to play, look towards Ingress Prime. Don’t let the review rating or 1 star reviews fool you. A lot of those reviewers haven’t played in a couple years and complain that they can’t play due to non-compatibility to their phone (maybe a phone upgrade from the iPhone 4 would help) or they cry about glitches and bugs that have been fixed long ago. Anyways this app is all about PvP. There’s two teams fighting for control of “Mind Units” to put on the scoreboard. Before the pandemic there were a lot of events created by both Niantic and the player base. I’ve been playing this game since Ingress Redacted and was a beta tester for Ingress Prime. It has come a long way from the beginning and Prime out does Redacted in every way! Improvements in game play are always being looked at. Again ignore the naysayers and the review rating. ✓ Great idea, good game, app needs polishThe idea for the game is truly great and it is very simple to pick it up yet there are complexities to it that just make it all great. The game is fun but the app needs a bit of polish. Considering this is an early iOS version I can see it being great in the near future. For example, it needs to allow a few things to work in the background with the phone locked, perhaps notifications about the proximity of portals or about communications. And they definitely need to work on battery consumption, I mean, I played for 20 min this morning and my phone went from 100% battery to 65%. Even if it is a 4S this kind of usage is just outrageous. ✓ Improving but still glitchyPrime is still not as stable as the original scanner. I regularly see several bugs. 1- the scanner will show item inventory as being 900 items more than actual inventory. I have to completely close the app and restart to fix this. 2- nearby portal icons are so wide that they cover to the middle of the screen and into the middle of the viewed play area. 3- nearby portal icons show portals 30, 40, or as much as 100 km away, but do not display portals within 1-2 km. I am to the point of wanting a switch o just turn off the nearby portal feature. 4- longer distance portals either take several minutes to show up in linkable portals list or do not show at all unless all closer portal keys are placed in a capsule or portal key locker. 5- the new player icon rotating in the top left corner of the scanner screen serves no purpose, is distracting, and should be switchable to hide or display 6- deploying resonators is still significantly slower than with the old scanner 7- app start up takes for-ev-er.Version: 2.44.1
