MileIQ: Mileage Tracker & Log for Positive User Reviews
✓ Sufficient But missing a few important thingsThis app is automatic once you set it up. Which is great because when I do business trip type drive I typically forget about setting my mileage at the start of the trip. This app just does it for you. That being said, you can also categorize your trips as personal and that is great but I don’t care about my personal drives and so this app DOES NOT give you the option to delete a drive you don’t want included. In addition the app itself does not show the running total of you mileage broken down by drive purpose. Only as business and personal combined. You have to crest the report summary to get that breakdown. A bit of a nuance. The information is there just have to get the statement vs the app just telling you. You also have a some max amount of drives you can do before you have to upgrade to the paid version at $5.99. A bit excessive unless you drive a lot and worth it at tax time. Overall it is a decent app but the two features above are important to me so I may look at other mileage apps.Version: 1.50.8
✓ Keeps track of driving very wellDoes a great job keeping track of driving. The one thing I wish is sometimes I make a quick stop and I notice I have to wait at the location for a few minutes (about 3-5 min) for the app to recognize this was a stop. Wish there was a way I could manually tell the app I’ve stopped and arrived at my destination in an effort to count it as a trip immediately. instead I have to wait for the app to internally recognize a stop has been made to then log the trip. Not a big deal because I usually do email or return a phone call while I wait for the app to show the trip, but would be better if I could log it immediately instead of working around the app software. In the end it’s easier than a scratchpad or manual log!.Version: 1.20.0
✓ Connection IssueMy connection is not working and you have taken my subscription . Unless you resolve this issue I will cancel my subscription and demand a refund which I am entitled too. Further to the above once MileIQ were aware of my issue they came back to me with a resolution and it is now working as it did previously when it was a free app..Version: 1.60.13
✓ Love this app!Makes tracking mileage a breeze.Version: 1.18.0
✓ Mostly GreatFor me, MileIQ is indispensable. One of the few apps that I pay a yearly subscription for, and happily so. The one and only issue I have with the app is, perhaps, my own quirk. Long before the app became a part of Microsoft I was enthusiastic user. I’ve been at it for a while now. My practice has always been to create a custom destination, using all capital letters to indicate that I made the entry, and then assigning it to my own personal categories. MileIQ takes custom created destinations but does not “recall“ them when you go to reuse them. If you create a new destination for a trip to somewhere, you have to create the same destination if the return trip back is logged separately. I know this is a tortured explanation. But it is a workaround that I am used to but still not overly happy about. If only MileIQ could “recall“ custom, user created destinations when you go to login a trip. As you likely know, you often go to regions where there are two or three or four destinations clustered in the same geographic area. There is no drop-down list to choose from if the coffee shop comes up and you mean the office supply store, you literally have to change the name back. It’s just inconvenient. Having said all of that, you really should use the app. It will save you hours and lots of grief. But that’s the one fly in the ointment for me. (Dictated, please forgive typos.).Version: 1.60.18
✓ MileiqI was just audited by CRA and it took me 6 weeks to get the fuel logs ready from 2017 and 2018. Now I take 30 seconds at the end of the day to update my vehicle log. Excellent App..Version: 1.62.4
✓ Essential business appBefore I used this app,I was rubbish at collating mileage and would often miss or forget about journeys I had made for business purposes. Since using the full version of this app, it’s been a godsend! Being able to track all of my journeys very easily and accurately and distinguishing between business and personal makes collecting mileage data a very simple task. Would highly recommend..Version: 1.18.0
✓ The lazy person's way of keeping HMRC informedI have always found it such a bind to keep accurate logs of mileage for end of year travel reporting to HMRC. Along comes Mile-IQ and instantly all that changes. Now all I have to do is name and classify and the app does the rest. I absolutely love the detailed monthly reports that I get which I can submit with my accounts. So useful!!.Version: 1.60.18
✓ Great App 👍🏼Best, easiest to use app for mile tracking I have used so far 👍🏼.Version: 1.62.3
✓ Great appI have been using this app since April and it took some getting used to. But now that I’m getting the hang of it and being able to set things it has made it sooo easy to track my mileage. I use this app to track all my medical and charity and business mileage. It has been great to know that I don’t have to think about it. I too believe that there should be an option to be able to set reminders within the app to remember to classify the drives. A once a day or every other day type of reminder. Also it would be easier to track if the locations could have more pinpoint accuracy rather than the name of the neighborhood you went to. I have to look at the date and the time of day and try to remember what I was doing to try to remember if it’s business/charity/medical. Add these two features and I will definitely give it 5 stars..Version: 1.29.1
✓ MILE IQThe app is great for logging your miles, however I find it much easier to use my phone to simply capture the mileage and use the online dashboard to send reports and specify personal/business. All in all it has saved me hours of fllling in a spreadsheet at the end of the month trying to remember all the business miles I have driven. To summarise I would say this is a must for any company car user or anyone who uses their own car for work, I just think the phone app could do with a bit of tweaking which is why it doesn’t quite get 5 stars..Version: 1.19.1
✓ Love it!!Stat nerds will love this❤️.Version: 1.61.1
✓ DBBUseful and easy.Version: 1.62.5
✓ Awesome for Service Type Businesses!I have used this app since the beginning. I had a pet sitting biz (25+yrs) now I do landscaping. MileIQ is perfect when charging for service time & labor. You have the ability to sort, generate a report and give the customer near exact start and finish times. Since it is GPS triggered it takes the guesswork out and you have little chance of a customer questioning when or if you were there! Random use: there was a attempted break-in at a clients home. It happened sometime between my visits. When the police arrived I showed them MileIQ app with the window of time from my leaving then returning so there was no question when this happened. PLUS it takes the guess work out of tax time; biz vs personal travel. Pretty cool, huh!!.Version: 1.48.0
✓ Chude’s ReviewsCurrently downloaded 3 mileage and expense trackers (Mile IQ, Intuit (Turbo Tax Self Employed, and Taxbot). Like all 3, but when it comes to tracking mileage, Mile IQ clearly outshines the rest. As a result of the clean interface, user-friendly experience, and the fact that it remembers your drives if you name your location. Also, unlike the “Self-Employed app by Intuit/Turbo Tax, when it comes to drives, Mile IQ catches the drives on the same day. I currently just classified my 13 Mile IQ drives for the day, and Turbo Tax’s app has yet to post 1 drive for the day (not to mention will miss some drives). Tax Bot is better about catching drives, but doesn’t have as clean as an Interface/UE (User Experience), and, only shows start time and not end time (in my profession, knowing what time one arrives at a location is very important, and can make the difference between hefty fines/jail time, and making a good living. So, although Mike IQ doesn’t allow one to keep track of expenses, for the cheaper price than the other apps I’m using, and the more proficient ability to capture drives and cleaner interface, I definitely recommend MileIQ!.Version: 1.36.1
✓ Works greatTracks my drives well. Very helpful tool.Version: 1.62.3
✓ Easy to useGreat app.Version: 1.62.3
✓ Almost perfect!!The app is great and I will probably invest in the years subscription as remembering where you have driven is easy Peasy with this app. All in all it is great but needs some minor improvements. The mileage recorded sometimes seems far more than I would expect however you can’t check the actual route travelled only the start and finish point. While I understand that this would probably save on data and battery life there should be an option to track the actual route for people with unlimited data who have their phone plugged in while driving. This would make it much easier to adjust any incorrect mileage logs. Currently 1 in every 5 drives appear to be incorrect regarding mileage which could be gps signals bouncing around a bit adding excess miles but there is no way to check which means you have to remember where you drove negating the whole point of the app. Still very useful though..Version: 1.22.0
✓ Very helpful appThis app saves me from having to remember every trip that I’ve taken and the swipe action for ‘personal’ or ‘business’ is simplicity itself. I haven’t given it 5 stars because my only challenge is that it doesn't appear to distinguish the drive/park/walk-to-train/get-on-train action if it all occurs within 15 minute timeframe. But otherwise it’s one app I use almost every day..Version: 1.28.0
✓ Everything I need for my new businessI’m only running the free version but so far it’s had everything I need. I like the fact it records drives so I don’t have to remember to turn it on The reason I’ve given 4* instead of 5* is the fact it classes a drive to the post box and back as 2 drives. I’m assuming this is because I got out the car but in reality I only walked 10 steps and started driving again. Ideally if it could class any drive within say 15-30 mins as 1 drive it would be much easier to manage..Version: 1.22.0
✓ MileIQ appLove how easy it is to classify mileage! Great program❤️.Version: 1.62.0
✓ Easy peasyBefore MileIQ I was logging trip manually. The annual fee for MileIQ well justifies the time involved and missing trips using the manual process. It is great to get a automatic Mail every Monday to review and make corrections on the trips which are not regular and automatic in the previous week. A 5 minute correction or allocation keeps it all up to date. The flexibility to create tailored reports is great and is acceptable with HMRC..Version: 1.60.16
✓ Great Application and Mileage tracker FeatureI agree with the latest comment made on here concerning the applications, I too would like to see more accuracy. Why? Well because I’m the type of person that likes to trial an application before I pay for it. Why you ask? I would say because too many apps on here want you to purchase them and they don’t even function anywhere close to what it is intended for example, the mileage tracker right now is is hit and miss when tracking my commutes and even updates or uploads way late and I forget why I drove there. This app is supposed to keep track of it. If, I have to write anything down than what’s the purpose of me paying for this?.Version: 1.60.2
✓ MileIQ Please Read.I love this app as it is as close as I can get to what I need. I am only required to record my business miles and odometer readings for each trip, so the basics are there just missing some basic feature. The app does give a miles driven but with each trip it would be great if it would add this onto the original odometer reading. Start location, finish location, miles driven the reason of business and new odometer reading. The option to change on the home screen what we can read would make this app AMAZING!!!!!.Version: 1.27.1
✓ Easy, Intuitive, Works FlawlesslyMileIQ is a switch on and forget app. It runs in the background, logs mileage and I like the swipe left for personal and right for business feature, no more recording on spreadsheets or by hand, evidence is there for mileage expenses, book keeping and tax offset purposes. Monthly summary reports are a great catch up feature and the money counter/mileage counter is very obvious. A must for people who struggle to log business mileage..Version: 1.61.1
✓ Does what it is supposed to doWorks well, not much more to say..Version: 1.61.1
✓ Pretty accurate, needs to get used to.Was put on to this app for making mileage tracking easier for expense reporting. Tried it mid week in the last week of November and was frustrated that it got several drives incomplete and from different locations than I was at. Example: stopped for gas on a business trip and lost the first half of the journey. On the flip side, it is easy to edit out mistakes on the web based screens @ MileIQ site. Found that once I named the 19 stops I frequent on trips during the month, it was a breeze to get the app to be a lot more accurate. Going to try this for the month of December and might buy an unlimited package. Forty drives will only last about ten working days as a network and computer field tech. Maybe the developers should consider an initial 80 drives for the first month and then forty after that (?)..Version: 1.20.1
✓ Fire Protection InspectorI am an inspector for a company that installs, designs & does inspections on fire suppression systems. I drive a lot, all day long from job to job, so mileage is a big part on the job. So far I have found the app great, though the frequent drives option doesn’t work that great and the work hours feature doesn’t allow you to edit those drives as it automatically logs them without any input on your part, which I do not like. Wish when it auto logs a drive, that it would still pop up and say “we just logged a business drive, is this correct? Would you like to add anything to this drive?” Same goes with a personal drive. Also, when in a drive from one job to the next or from the job to home, if you stop at a store or gas station, the app will stop that drive and when you start driving again it will start an entire new drive, I wish you had the option to continue the drive so therefore it would be logged together as one simple drive and not several different logs which you have to go back and calculate. I think if they fixed these minor issues this app would be top notch..Version: 1.22.0
✓ A commissioned sales managers dreamEasy to use, efficient and will save me tons of time and money at the end of the year. It constantly reminds me when I’ve forgotten to log trips which is a HUGE advantage to a clutter brain. Well worth the money.Version: 1.61.3
✓ Awesome programTracks everything so you don’t have to remember!! This is a lifesaver!!.Version: 1.62.6
✓ I can't believe how good this app isI've tried lots of other milage tracking apps and this is the only one that has worked reliability for me. Classification between different trips for work and domestic use is a breeze. It even automatically classifies trips I cycle for work to be claimed as cycle milage automatically based on the Bluetooth link to the bike computer..Version: 1.46.0
✓ Almost made it to 5 starsI’m pretty particular when it comes to how I view things that are either working or not for me. This app is fairly easy to use , still not sure about having to set settings to an always on. You will need to go into actual web account for them and not the app if you need to modify your past drives. For the first few months of running my own company I did my paperwork old school which ment allot of flipping around here and there to locate who was associated with what address and get their milage logged correctly. But with moleIQ it’s just get in car and go. Only problem with their map and my location is I have 2 customer that have houses back to back so I’m always having to watch for that one cause it logs me in at wrong place.Version: 1.60.16
✓ Great appSo great for it to keep track instead of writing everything down. I’d always forget and this app doesn’t let you forget which is awesome. Only negative is having location services on constantly, drains my battery faster..Version: 1.61.1
✓ About as simple as it gets!I’ve been using this app for about 3 months now and, quite frankly, this is one of the best apps ever created. It works flawlessly and completely automatic in the background of your mobile device. It has logged every single drive I have made since I started using it. And the join feature works great to tie together all of those trips that have minor detours along the way to your destination like getting off the interstate to get gas or food or for an overnight stay. Couple that feature with the simple swipe left or right to categorize a drive as personal or business and this is just about the easiest, most effective app I have ever used period. Seriously, if you aren’t using MileIQ to track your business mileage, you need to start using today. Just make sure you’ve set-up all your data and vehicle info before taking your first drive. I suggest doing a test drive just to be sure it is capturing your drives automatically. When I first started, it missed a few initial trips because I did not have my vehicle information set-up completely. But once you are sure it is automatically capturing each drive, you are good to go. This app is about as perfect in form and function and usefulness as it gets. Try it today, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to use this app. Pure Genius!.Version: 1.23.0
✓ Overall Great, but One Major ConcernThis app is a brilliant idea, and it’s certainly going to make thing easier come tax season. My biggest frustration is: I drive Lyft and live in a rural area, so I drive around 20 miles into town to start getting more rides. I’ll often get my first ride while I’m moving, and when I pick them up, I’m only stopped for about two minutes, so MileIQ doesn’t register the stop. I can’t claim the miles going into town or out of town (the IRS considers these a “commute”), but when I get home, I have one big, long drive to classify because I never stopped moving long enough. It’d be really nice to be able to go into each drive and manually break them into smaller ones when necessary. As it stands, I’m left trying to subtract about 40 miles from each day of my report by hand before calculating my taxes, which kind of defeats the purpose of the app..Version: 1.31.2
✓ Good automatic tracking but not accurate routesThis app is great because it’s simple and easy to navigate but the routes are not accurate. This could be a better app if this problem was fixed so here it goes...Half of the time the app doesn’t accurately track the start and stop destination and the routes. I drove this route but the app says I drove a different route (which was a longer route too). Then I made this short stop at a store but the app shows that I only drove in the area along with the different route from what I actually drove (instead of recording that as an individual route like I expected it to, that route was automatically connected to my next route and it became one individual route altogether). Not only that but in one of my routes, the app completely disregarded a stop I made and my route, according to the app, didn’t event go anywhere near that stop, it stopped midway then changed course. Overall, I’m still going to use this app, but if these small details were fixed this would really be the top mileage tracker. Thanks!.Version: 1.48.0
✓ NB254Great app.Version: 1.61.2
✓ Only a week in and has already changed my lifeSo I have been writing mileage reports for nearly 20 years. I know I under declare because I err on the side of caution when listing for the gaps. It is a tedious and time consuming burden at best. So the technology is used to make the whole process read simple and dead simple it is. The added benefit of blocking incoming notifications is very positive and approved if by my family. All good so far and as soon as my 40 free have been used up I will be subscribing..Version: 1.18.0
✓ So far so good…. Exceptionally AcurateI have used other app trackers in the past but when I’ve compared them against my odometer at the end of the day/week or month they have always been a couple hundred miles out, so far the miles this app has tracked reflects the miles I’ve done on my odometer which when it comes to doing your end of year returns accuracy is paramount. I would just like to add that also the price is half of what I was paying for Driversnote which charged me £8 per month (£96 year) I believe this was £45 odd for the whole year..Version: 1.60.13
✓ It’s perfect for disorganised me!Our accountant had been going on at us to claim mileage from our business for all the driving round we do, but we were both terrible at make notes and writing anything down - too much else to worry about! Then I found this and it’s been a godsend for tracking and recording so all so have to do is submit the report it generates each month and we have a couple of extra hundred quid in the account. It’s brilliant!.Version: 1.37.0
✓ SupervisorHandy dandy.Version: 1.61.1
✓ Excellent appI’ve been using this app for just over a year now and I find it very intuitive and easy to use. I also use Quick Books which records my mileage too but I think MileIQ is a lot better. It’s very easy to allocate drives and go back if you’ve been too hasty and need to change how a drive has been allocated. At the end of the month you can get emailed with details of your drives which can be downloaded as a spreadsheet or pdf. Overall, a great app which saves me a lot of time..Version: 1.32.1
✓ Simple and easy to setup and useI like that once my normal dives are classified it’s mostly automated..Version: 1.62.6
✓ Almost perfectMile IQ really is fantastic. It does a great job at tracking mileage and running in the background while not draining your battery. Although this app works really well I would like to see three additions. 1) Job tracking: the ability to assign drives to specific jobs not tasks. For a construction company it doesn’t really work to track mileage for specific jobs. This is more of a broad spectrum tracker. 2) Delete or Remove Drives: I’m yet to find the ability to delete a drive. I went to a consult with another contractor and left Mile IQ running in the background. Like it is suppose to it tracked our trip and drives. The only option I had at that point was to classify those drives as personal. Not a big deal because I’m not concerned with personal miles but if someone was there isn’t any way to adjust. 3) the ability to link drives: Mile IQ will automatically link certain drives and sometimes create round trip drives. The ability to manually link drives would be fantastic as well. Over all it’s the best I’ve found so far and I’ve already recouped the cost of the 1year subscription within my first 40 drives..Version: 1.41.0
✓ Update - theta fixed me immediatelyI left my original response below. Literally 2 minutes after hitting submit, MileIQ customer support called me back and got me fixed in less than 5 minutes. Back to 5 stars Bc I do love this app which is why I’ve used it for years. I thought they let me down but they didn’t! I’m so angry with y’all right now. I’ve been paying y’all every month for years yet all of a sudden, my account is limited to 40 miles which means it hasn’t been tracking my mileage for MONTHS which means I can’t accurately track my mileage for my taxes. I need a refund on EVERY SINGLE MONTH that’s limited to 49 drives because this is outrageous. I’ve called and I tried the chat and y’all haven't responded. This is beyond unacceptable..Version: 1.49.0
✓ Mile IQ Saves Time and a HeadacheI was referred to MileIQ by my boss. I didn’t think too much since I thought writing would be more accurate. I was completely wrong! At times I would forget or just didn’t remember where I was. I even had my job question where I was or what I was doing on the clock at a different address. It was a building supply store I couldn’t remember weeks ago. Thank goodness for this app. It has helped me with a reminder for weekly or monthly reports and sends to the email. GPS is accurate and precise. I have not tried other mile apps but I can say I am still with this app and will most likely purchase the app to see if other features highlight the benefit of the monthly/yearly purchase. Thank You to the customer service who Actually responded to my concerns. Much appreciated, Gabe.Version: 1.26.1
✓ GreatApp enormously helpful and reliable for tracking drives.Version: 1.6.0.12
✓ Great, but misses some drivesNot often, but occasionally I notice that one of my drives isn’t there. It’s usually a case where it shows me coming home from somewhere, but how did I get there? (And no, it hasn’t been auto-classified as anything) Overall great though. An easy way to track drives without having to think about it. One other note: it could really use a “not in my car” option. The only way to not have it racked up for a write-off is to classify it as personal. I worry that casts suspicion on other drives to those locations. Also, I find it very offensive that under the “email notifications” setting, you can toggle on/off for weekly, monthly and “other” emails, but if you try to toggle off the promotional emails, it toggles it right back on. “You will receive our unsolicited emails and you will LIKE them!!” Not cool, not cool. Any update on that “not in my car” feature I mentioned?.Version: 1.32.0
✓ Works greatThis is a great app for automatically tracking and differentiating between work and personal trips. My only feedback would be for it to better detect if the car is on a ferry; it’s a bit cumbersome to manually group 10+ small trips that pile up while crossing water.Version: 1.61.3
✓ Good app but...Unless I am mistaken it’s impossible to track where you’ve been. Eg I have a journey of 32 miles from house and back and although it shows start and end points it doesn’t show the route and I can’t remember where I went. So I’ve got to mark it as personal which is frustrating. To be able to see at least basic route would be really useful. Otherwise it’s great so far..Version: 1.22.0
✓ Could more TAX friendlyLove the app and it records my drives fairly accurately. Sometimes when I come home from work and stop at the house for less than five minutes to change into my gym clothes .... it will record my travel from work to home and then from home to the gym as one trip. I simply make a note of that so that I can reconcile it later. From a tax perspective, if you were taking “actual expenses” instead of “mileage” as your deduction.... you need to know the percentage of business miles out of all of your vehicle mileage. The app doesn’t calculate this automatically for you. The circle graph the app displays just simply gives you business trips versus personal trips. This is useless data from a tax deduction perspective. If you are going to take “actual expenses” as a deduction on your taxes the calculation is...total vehicle expenses multiplied by percent business miles traveled. The app makes you calculate that percentage from data presented on a spreadsheet on your own which is inconvenient and possibly cumbersome in some circumstances. I wish the developers would have sought the advice of some expert Tax Attorneys in the development of the app..Version: 1.22.0
✓ Works fineNot much else to say. Works as expected..Version: 1.62.3
✓ Couldn’t live without itGame changer for me. Thanks.Version: 1.62.6
✓ RonnI have been using mileage IQ for about seven months. I started working for a company that had promised me a Company car as part of my position. The company had a policy of not paying any of their employees for personal use of their vehicles. But, because mileage IQ is so professional, accurate and detailed, I've been able to get paid for all my business mileage over the last seven months. I simply told them that this will be temporary until I receive my company vehicle that they promised. After talking with other employees I realize that I would never get a company vehicle. If you work for a company that wants to cheat you on your mileage, you can simply keep this documentation until you leave the company. This will stand up in court and you can file a small claims lawsuit for $150. With this type of documentation your case will be a slamdunk in court. Enjoy suing your x-employer with the help of mileage IQ.!!!.Version: 1.60.13
✓ Save time. Deduct more.I’ve had mileage deductions for years and it’s always been a hassle to keep track of it and/or go back and calculate. Not only does this make tracking easier, it makes me consider every drive—many is which I probably would have missed counting—and it tracks mileage if I get lost and take the long way. To the guy who’s complaining about missing stops...I have noticed that if I make a very brief stop—say to drop someone off or something—it doesn’t necessarily end the drive at that stop as it’s probably not much longer of a stop than a long stop light. But it’s still tracking the miles! There may be several “stops” in one drive. Still works for me. So thankful for this app! Totally worth the $ to not have to track on my own!!.Version: 1.22.0
✓ Brilliant App and SupportHave been using this app for nearly a year when our IT guys changed our work login details which dropped me out the app. 1 quick chat with the support team and in minutes all my old drives and reports were copied over to my new login. Absolutely brilliant support and a life saver as I panicked as I thought I had lost 10months of info. Five stars for the app and if I could I would give 10 stars for the support team. Very happy user..Version: 1.37.0
✓ Very helpful. Works as promised.Super helpful for tracking mileage without having to remember to start it with the auto detection. I only wish you could delete drives from the app. You can only delete drives from the website version. I ride along with another party quite a bit and always forget to pause the auto detection when I start out. So I have to open the browser and delete the drive from the website instead of being able to delete from the app on my phone. I also wish you could adjust your end point on the map. A few times it didn’t track me all the way to my destination because I drive through a “dead” spot with no cell service. But other than those small complaints, I actually do love this app and and happy I purchased it. Makes getting organized for tax time simpler. And my accountant LOVES it. She is actually the one who recommended this to me. End of year it has a pdf breakdown of all your drives. This is priceless information. Also reminds you at the start of the year to document your mileage on your car to make sure everything matches up. Great app!.Version: 1.60.13
✓ Continues to improveI have been using this app for three years now and it has been a life saver. There have been regular updates that have helped improve the system over time and the ability to name locations have saved lots of time in identifying business verses personal and auto classifying drives. I can’t wait for the auto vehicle function to work on iOS and I am hoping that will also help classify short drives as it could trigger the start and end of drives when it connects and disconnects. Keep the development coming..Version: 1.61.0
✓ Randomly stops recording tripsUpdate on below review and score jumping up two stars! Despite the strange app notifications, I’ve now verified and all mileage seems to have been accounted for but some was split into multiple journeys ( I suspect because of the bad traffic which led the car to start and go constantly) which the app didn’t then recognise as one of my ‘frequent drives’. So issues partially resolved. Still feeling like I need to monitor though and would appreciate hearing from the app builder in case there might be something I’ve not set up correctly. ———-/——-/——- I’ve been using the app since October and at first I was very happy with it but lately (or maybe I just didn’t notice before) it has become rather unreliable. Last week it has recorded a trip out to a (regular) client but somehow not the trip back, on the same day. Never had (or noticed) that problem before. Today I received a notification email saying I had not done any mileage in the past 7 days. Not only I had, but the app had recorded it and I had classified all the trips so far. So not sure what’s wrong and now I’m feeling like I need to double check the mileage report every other day to make sure nothing gets missed. Not great. Considering switching to another app..Version: 1.39.0
✓ Lady OrganizedSuper great!.Version: 1.61.3
✓ Works goodEasy to use..Version: 1.61.1
✓ Almost a fantastic appLove the auto detection, working hours, reduces missed miles. Almost perfect, only issue is the reporting. The desktop version shows a map of each journey and pin points to the road a journey starts/ends. The output however gives the area as an overview. This has been pulled up by HMRC at a recent audit as being inadequate for claims so I’m having to submit with my work schedule. I query whether this actually is HMRC compliant...?.Version: 1.34.3
✓ Works well, very reliable and nice to useReally like how it looks, functions and works. Great app. One functionality request though: I like that you can auto-categorise journeys you do regularly, however I cycle to work and I would like the app to get more clever in knowing that I cycled as I have to delete my journeys to work almost every day..Version: 1.41.0
✓ I had an issue, and no one could help me!My issue was, mile IQ stop recording my drives, and I couldn't figure out why, and then I remembered after they told me that they couldn't help me and they needed more information. I remembered my iPhone asked me if I wanted MileIQ to continue to run in the background, and it gave me two options one was always, and the one was, only while using the app, and I think without thinking I put only while using the app, so I missed two days of Business drives. I think that day my phone kept asking me this, and that is running in the background do you want to do this or do that, and I got fed up and just said only while using the app and everything that popped up that's what I put. So if you are using MileIQ make sure you put always so that you don't have to keep the app open, and it will still record all your drives. You can do this by going to your settings under MileIQ, and highlight always!.Version: 1.44.0
✓ The perfect business mileage tool!Keeping track of kms driven and connecting them to business or personal trips was a real chore. MileIQ makes it ridiculously easy and the reports are a dream (my accountant probably loves that aspect more than me!). If you need to track mileage - you NEED Mile IQ..Version: 1.60.11
✓ Finally free from the mile logging chore!I trialled this app before upgrading, took a few journeys to get used to, but now I just love it. It is so simple to use and for me as a self employed person, just needing to record business miles for tax reasons, I don’t need anything more complicated. I have 3 personal categories and 5 business categories. Even if I forget for a few days to select the purpose it is easy to work out what it was because the date and time as well as start and end points are noted. So I can refer to my calendar. Non-driving miles can easily be deleted, and the only journey that has gone wrong for me was a 12 mile drive ending at a train station. Hilariously I had to get out of the car and run for the train, so the app didn’t realise there was a break in the journey and merged the car and train trips. Next time I will arrive with more time to walk to the platform!.Version: 1.27.1
✓ Easy, Powerful ToolIf you are like me, you simply don’t remember how much you drive if you for business purposes. What really surprised me were the simple trips to a nearby client. A few miles here and there quickly turn into hundreds of dollars that are so easy to forget. The great part about this app is that it does the thinking for you. And not being owned and operated by a fly-by-night company gives me peace of mind that at the end of the year the data will still be there. As far as how easy it is to use - just swipe for each trip - left for personal, right for business. Tolls, parking, and other notes are available with each swipe. At the end of your reimbursement cycle or at tax time, the data can be exported into a spreadsheet or PDF for detailed backup. Highly recommend..Version: 1.30.0
✓ A must have for CRA reportingThis is the first time I’ve ever actually written a review for an app.. so that should tell you how good this one is. I started out using another app but after a trial period they wanted an exorbitant amount of money. I figured I’d try one more before paying and I’m glad I did. This app does a wonderful job tracking my work and personal drives and will save me a ton of time when tax season hits. The paid version is reasonably priced and I believe is also tax deductible. Anyway, on the technical side, the cloud dashboard and app are both super easy to use and I’m not sure what improvements I would suggest. Bravo to the dev team who made this what it is!.Version: 1.62.6
✓ Recently switched over from another appI had been using two other apps, but one was really buggy, and the other was just a basic back-up plan with no fancy features to catch all the drives that the primary one was missing. I don't know if I can say the name here, but I had been trying to use MileCatcher and it was so inconsistent; it would start tracking my drives several miles in to the trip. Then it would go weeks without even being able to open. When I finally was able to open, all my drives were lost. So I signed up for the free trial with this one and decide to purchase the monthly subscription. So far it works way better, is consistent and reliable, and super easy to use. I deleted the buggy app, and got the drive logs exported from that back-up, so I can delete that one now too. great program! 👍.Version: 1.26.1
✓ A REAL Assistant!I’ve tried many apps that were supposed to “help“ me. But most eventually disappointed… Too hard to learn, too hard to use, too buggy... I tried mile IQ on a lark. I figured, it would be better than my scribbled notes on paper. Well, it’s definitely better than scribbled notes! My very favorite thing about mile IQ, is just getting into a car, going about my day, without giving mileage a second thought. No looking for paper upon which to scribble notes, no keeping those papers organized and available for monthly reports... what a relief. I have a busy life. It took me about six months at a new job to even give my Mile IQ reports a glance. But quickly, and easily, I was able to provide complete and accurate reports to my employer for reimbursement. Going back and filling in the details, was quite a challenge. Although mile IQ makes it incredibly easy to categorize drives, my memory fails after a few weeks. So, I do recommend that you try to stay up-to-date on classifying drives. It’s something I do at night, or in the morning, or as soon as I possibly can after a busy week. I wish all the tools I use to make my life more productive were as helpful as Mile IQ..Version: 1.22.0
✓ Quick, Easy and AccurateI’ve used this app since April and without it I dread to think how my bookkeeper would keep track of my mileage expenses. I’ve tried before with books and scraps of paper but never kept topside of my travels. It’s probably cost me a lot of money in the past as travel costs haven’t been recouped. That’s not a problem now and all my journeys are logged automatically and I can place them by the location and time - just swipe and tap - it really doesn’t get any easier.Version: 1.29.2
✓ Amazing! Best mileage tracker for work ever!!I’ve used multiple trackers. This is by far the best. It works seamlessly and is well worth the £5 monthly subscription. It allows me to track my milage to charge my clients accordingly with great monthly and weekly reports available on hand. If your self employed working for a company that reimburses you for travel, definitely get this app..Version: 1.60.9
✓ Good appI do like the app. I use it to track all my business vs personal miles. I do have one critique so I’m writing this review so that hopefully the developer sees it and can do something about it. Once you’ve categorized a drive as either business or personal, you can no longer delete it. Yes, you can correct and switch from personal to business or vice verse, but if you accidentally label one, for example as personal, then realize your mistake, say it was a rental car, for example, you can’t go delete it. So now my percentage of personal vs business mileage is messed up. The app literally just gave me the option to categorize a run I went on as personal or business. Sadly, I can’t run as fast as i drive, so you’d think the app would be smart enough to realize that my 8 MPH run for 3 miles is not a trip in a car. But without thinking about it, I categorized my jog as a personal trip in my car. And now i can’t delete it..Version: 1.60.18
✓ Superb App!Love this app, I’ve worked out that I was probably losing £10-£30 a week by guessing my work mileage but now at the end of each day I allocate my drives and at the end of the month print off my work mileage in minutes to get reimbursed. Well worth the monthly fee.Version: 1.60.17
✓ Love it ... trying to get the company on board on thisHad a trial for about 3 months .. but god the full saves you hours per week of free time ... they say money doesn’t buy time .. but in this case it actually does ! Would recommended it to anyone who has the options to claim milage .. weather you’re self employed or working for a company .. save yourself a massive headache...Version: 1.29.0
✓ Super!Fini les oublis de noter le kilométrage aux départs et aux arrivées, démêler l’utilisation personnelle et le travail.Version: 1.61.2
✓ Fantastic accurate time-saving app!I used to spend far too long working out business journey mileage when I had forgotten to record the odometer reading (almost always!), so this app is so convenient and efficient. If you do a lot of miles, then it's really worth the upgrade cost as it saves so much time. The export facility is also great for updating bookkeeping. Really great. Has only failed me once because I had data switched off on phone!.Version: 1.60.16
✓ Amazing!***ALWAYS LEAVE APP OPEN*** As long as you do that, it automatically records every drive. When you have time, you go through them and swipe each separate one either right (business) or left (personal). It also automatically calculates the allowance for those trips. Since they are different in different parts of the country, they also have the local regulations which they apply to calculate the mileage money. If I had to logg all my trips, I would hate it and probably not claim them for tax deduction. GREAT APP!!.Version: 1.18.0
✓ Best app for monitoring your miles/km for expensesFantastic.Version: 1.61.3
✓ Brilliant AppI love MileIQ it saves so much time and doesn’t rely on me recording every journey. There are probably 2 features I would change. The first (which has been mentioned before) is the fact that ‘round trip’ doesn’t give details so unless you are very up-to-date with designating personal/business. It can be hard to remember where you went. Luckily, I rarely have a round trip. The second would be an option to enter mileage on the app as I lost my phone a couple of days ago and for the journeys taken during this time, there was no means of recording on the app. It’s not a huge problem as can record in accounts xls but would have been nice simply to add to monthly report. Overall it had made life much easier for me!.Version: 1.30.0
✓ A really good app, just needs one change to be greatI really like this app, for me there is only one change needed to make it a truly great app though; the option to add/edit drives from the app. The current method involves opening a web dashboard that appears to have no mobile friendly skin and it’s tricky to correct on the go. Other than that, it’s working really well for me. There is no way that I could maintain a logbook on my own, MileIQ has really changed the way I use work vehicles..Version: 1.49.0
✓ As User-Friendly As It GetsI absolutely LOVE this app!! MikeIQ makes it SO easy to classify and keep track of the miles you drive for business so there’s no headache figuring out your mileage at tax time every April. It breaks down your drives by month and creates a year-end report for you as well. MileIQ also allows you to create your own sub-classifications for your drives (i.e. Business meeting with customers, medical appointments, office supplies, kid’s sporting events, school drop off/pick ups, etc.) and since the IRS assigns different deduction amounts per mile based upon the drive (drive for client meeting vs. medical appointment have different rates per mile with the IRS), there really is no way to screw up your tax deductions. This app is a lifesaver and one less business expense deduction hassle I have to calculate and keep track of myself each year. I absolutely recommend this app to anyone in need of keeping track of the miles you put on your car/driven every month for tax related purposes. Easily 5 Stars!!.Version: 1.25.1
✓ Travel appGreat at to track and super easy!.Version: 1.62.6
✓ One annoying featureI love being able to automatically track my mileage when I’m visiting clients, and the ability to customize the purposes of my drives; I work two jobs (one FT and one seasonal) as an independent contractor and I like to be able to keep the mileage separate for both. The one thing I cannot stand about this app is that whenever you close it, if you have notifications allowed, you get a message saying, “Heads up! MileIQ has quit. Tap here or re-open the app to continue classifying your drives.” I just don’t understand - I mean, of course the app has quit, I just double-tapped my home button (iPhone) and swiped to close it. I had to do that deliberately in order to quit the app. Why do I need a reminder that it worked? This happens even when you’re completely caught up on your drives and have nothing to classify, making it even more of an unnecessary annoyance. So, developers, can we maybe reconsider that?.Version: 1.29.0
✓ So far so good :)Will update accordingly :).Version: 1.62.4
✓ Pretty Darn GoodI came across this app from an ad on my free solitaire app. Within a week I used up my free drives and bought a year's subscription. It's worked nearly flawlessly, save an unrecorded trip or two. But compared to remembering to write it down, or looking it up in Maps... It's close enough. Swiping to log trips is actually a nice little end of day or week break and you can add custom categories, so far I haven't run out. If you are like me and work freelance and every time you go to a production it's business, this is invaluable either for expensing or for getting mileage reimbursements. Plus, if you add custom personal drives, you can see much you drive for shopping, coffee, recreation, etc. So, pretty good, a few glitches to work out. I would think you need to work freelance or something similar to justify the subscription, but the app has paid for itself in a couple of weeks and on a longer project it turns out my expensable miles are just about equal to my car payment.....Version: 1.60.15
✓ Easy and the accountant loves itIt's easy. It's worthwhile. It's has the details and I can name my client locations. Makes sorting drives even easier..Version: 1.62.3
✓ Great Time SaverSo far this app has been very easy to use..Version: 1.18.0
✓ Super easy to useThe auto notifications remind me tk record each trip and even if I leave it for a day it’s easy to swipe left or right in each trip at the end of the day..Version: 1.61.1
✓ Works great and saves timeI don’t have to write everything down anymore..Version: 1.61.3
✓ The most fun mileage trackerCategorizing drives is so easy and visually fun, very user friendly..Version: 1.60.9
✓ The basic is there, and works great!Although there are some improvements to be continued with this app, the overall tracking works great and is sufficient to the task. I wish we could assign a type of travel related to the paired cellphone by Bluetooth!.Version: 1.61.3
✓ Very helpfulThis app ha ended years of writing scrappy notes in the car; a practice which I didn’t always have the patience for or course. Now I can generate a log of journeys at the click of a mouse. This goes straight into my VAT return. Simple. What’s missing is a few more options on why you want to discard some drives. These might include being in someone else’s car or walking. Perhaps a few custom options there would be good..Version: 1.25.0
✓ One of the better mileage apps, just needs improvement. This app is great. I was using Quickbooks and it missed a ton of my trips so I switched. This app has many more features. I like that you can classify frequent jobs. I’m a pet sitter some sometimes I drive to the same location three or four times a day. Two improvements regarding accuracy and I would rate this app 5 stars: 1. I want the app to highlight the route you took. Doesn’t seem like it should be that hard to implement. For example, sometimes it will log my starting and ending points both as home and since I don’t classify trips everyday I can’t remember where I went! 2. I want to be able to split trips. Sometimes I combine a personal and business related trip into one. If I do a pet check in while I out and about for personal reasons I can’t really count all of the mileage as business related. Still really enjoy the app, though!.Version: 1.30.0
✓ Fantastic AppThis app has been amazing over the last two years I’ve been using it. It’s so easy to use and just runs in the background calculating your mileage so accurately. It is fantastic for tax mileage calculations and has never been wrong. The only thing you have to watch out for is which vehicle it’s recording in but if you have a primary work vehicle then it’s perfect. I check back about each month to make sure it’s up to date and you can go back as far as you need to. I highly recommend to anyone who needs it for taxes and calculating their mileage..Version: 1.61.1
✓ Great App for busy peopleI don’t often rate apps but in this case I think it is worthwhile to do so. I have a paid annual subscription to MileIQ and I consider it good value for money. You can see what it does, but my experience is that it works for you in the background classifying business and personal mileages so that you can claim your business miles at the end of the year. You don’t need to do that much!.Version: 1.30.0
✓ BEST mileage app ever! This app is phenomenal. I had it on my phone for some time; but didn't give much insight into it until tax time came along and needed some form of evidence to account for my high mileage. I opened the app and it had EVERYTHING! I went ahead and paid for the unlimited mileage, and it gave me my previous mileage beyond the allotted 40. I love this app, I'm a realtor and I like to be able to put on notes with specific clients I was with or did a showing for, etc. I can then download by the month and input the total mileage for business into my accounting software (realtyzam). This app is a true lifesaver, you don't have to remember nothing, just log them later when you get a chance, if you forget what the drive was for, normally once you click the map and analyze it with the time, it's very clear exactly what you were doing during that specific drive. This app is a must for anyone who needs to track their mileage for any reason!.Version: 1.60.18
✓ Life saverIt’s very simple. I don’t have to keep track of where I go and when. I don’t have to spend half a day making sure expenses are right. This is accurate, reporting is a breeze and nobody can argue with the pdf report. This is essential software that anyone who claims miles should have. Probably the best software I have used on an iPhone in terms of function and time saving. No drain on battery either. The perfect app. Login through a pc or Mac to sort reports - it’s just easier..Version: 1.30.0
✓ The solution for busy peopleFor years as a fast growing business owner the chore of recording mileage was just a drain. I trialled this app after using many other ‘tools’ that were basically useless. I needed something that would do this without me even thinking. This does. I then made it company policy for my reps to use this. One rep is now claiming half as many miles as they used too!.Version: 1.28.0
✓ Saved me at Tax timeI love this app. I had to do back-taxes because I had a hard drive crash and lost most of a year’s data. Because I was able to go “back in time” with this app and my Outlook calendar - I was saved. It was a tedious but straight-forward process. Why only four stars? I would give this app a 5+ star rating if possible, if it were not for the fact that it won’t record in the background if not open anymore. I lost data at the end of last year, 2919, because the app was closed. My permissions were set to allow it to track in the background. What happened? Just now I closed the app and received the message “Heads up! MileIQ has quit. Tap to restart app.” So, I don’t understand. Sometimes it works in the background and sometimes it does not. That lack of reliability and certainty is a real problem. Please fix this or educate me on the proper settings and I’ll give this a 5-star rating. Have this work with Quickbooks and other accounting software and I’ll write a song about your heroism!.Version: 1.60.17
✓ Great!I’m absolutely pants at recording my mileage manually! I’m busy as it is without the pressure of having to record my exact mileage, so now I don’t bother. I just log onto the app when I need to. Split the logs into personal/business and when I’m back at my office log on to the website and request my excel report to be emailed which I then tweak and submit to my employer. I only had to forget one long distance journey (for which I forgot many!!!) to justify paying for the app. Jolly good :-).Version: 1.20.1
😕 MileIQ: Mileage Tracker & Log Negative Reviews
