Used to be greatThe app is actually really good, but since last update the iOS push notifications no longer work. In theory it Gould now have an image with the notification, but instead you get an error..Version: 1.57.00

App works well, but no sharingI like the app well enough and it does what I need it to, but I can’t get it to work for my wife. I purchased the app, my wife and I are in the same family group, and the app is supposedly family sharing compatible, but we can’t seem to set it up for my wife without her paying another $10 for her to purchase it. That’s ridiculous! I’m not sure if this is a Blue Iris problem or an Apple Store problem, but it is super frustrating..Version: 1.63.10

Good but does crash outI’ve been using this App for well over a year now and it did used to be quite stable, in more recent months it regularly crashes out when switching from live view to playback. Needs an update, looks to have been a year since the last one. App works well otherwise but this is quite a fundamental problem..Version: 1.63.10

Very BuggyThis app has a couple glitches for sure that I have come across. Plus the Tech support from this company is very hot & miss. I have been waiting 2 weeks for an answer to a simple question. Cant get a reply. I am using this app with 2 different servers. My home & my business so when I get an alert from the business for example. If I click on the alert to open it up sometimes it will duplicate my home server so I will have 2 home servers and the work one with be deleted. Very frustrating. Also sometimes it wont connect to the server remotely saying it can’t connect and when I get to the server in question there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong but I will have to go through the remote wizard again to get it working. Needless to say I can’t delete my actual camera remote app as it is very reliable. It is a backup for when not if the BI app fails. They got my 10$ though. I guess they put my email address on blocked..Version: 2.03.03

New UI 🤢It's a good app, but the redesigned UI feels like a big step backwards, particularly the popup clip player. Viewing a clip is now far smaller than the previous version, where it was shown inline instead of an unnecessary popup. Despite my cams all having PTZ controls disabled, the popup shows a very deep PTZ panel on the popup, reducing the clip area even further. Please bring back the inline clip player, the popup is really awful.Version: 2.00.26

Keeps getting worseIt seems my previous negative review was deleted. In brief, I recommend that you use the built in html based BI browser as the navigation is mush more straightforward and bug-free. With the latest update, this app crashes and restarts (so if I had spent some time finding a certain alert vid, I must now start over with that process) whenever I rotate from vertical to landscape or back on my updated iPhone 11. The problem with that is in landscape view, navigation is extremely frustrating and in vertical mode the format obviously is not ideal since half the screen in nav controls. Since I cannot rotate to switch between views, this app has no use for me. Can I please get a refund? This is coming from somebody that recommends Blue Iris, just not this buggy app..Version: 2.03.07

CrashesThe app is unreliable and continuously crashes. Also, after you’ve played a video and the app doesn’t crash, which is rare, if you swipe up and move to another app, you can still hear the background noise from the video as if it’s still playing in the app. The developer makes a great piece of software, wish it worked on Linux, too, but it’s still great. This app could be just as great, but it needs a lot of work..Version: 2.03.07

Potentially convoluted for some, likely redundantIf all you have is blue iris and you want to view remotely, you’ll have to follow a decent amount of step, even more if you want to do it securely. If you have home assistant, the same steps you would take are the some of the same steps to send information to home assistant. Depending on your setup, you’re better off sending everything to Home Assistant. You’ll be able to remotely view home assistant through their cloud if you have the Nablus Casa subscription..Version: 2.03.03

Great when it works.I wanted to open a support ticket or feedback report but the functionality for that option in the app seems to not work for me. This app is great and offers an easy way to check on your NVR on mobile, when it works. For a few months now I’ve been unable to successfully connect on LAN using the mobile app. One uninstall and reinstall fixed this, but only temporarily. I have since been completely unable to connect and have triple checked the server configurations on the host machine. I’ve added new users etc to no avail. I have not enabled WAN access as I’m not a fan of port forwarding, however, this should not be relevant when it comes to LAN access. Hopefully a solution will be brought to my attention as I really enjoyed this app..Version: 2.03.03

Time to move onBeen running Blue Iris for a while. Software has been hit or miss at times. Purchased upgrade for version 5 a while back. Company is now forcing people to subscription based licensing. I paid for version 5 but they are saying version 5.x.x.x is not supported by my version 5 license. App screamed at me to update it on my PC. Find another company. Time to move on. Horrible softwareI have several homes..and the cameras keep going down. They often go down at the same time so I have 2 different firms that need to talk and find out what’s going on. When we called for help, KEN the “independent developer DEMANDED money just to explain why his own software was not working. THEN to beat all, his new “update” SHUT DOWN ALL of the video we had for the last 6+ months - on BOTH HOMES. This guy doesn’t care abou this clients and APPLE should not sell this ...it’s just bad and when the owner/developer doesn’t care, it a big deal. We tried and tried to get it to work...but when one needs to “buy more support”, and BOTH homes go down - the problem is not ours...it’s his. FIND ANY - ANY - other product to buy - but not Blue Iris...it’s just truly the worst tech based product in our homes..Version: 2.00.25

Quality and utility slipped a lotSince the introduction of BI 5 I have not been able to connect remotely, up until then it worked well. Neither has the UI interface connected. Others have had the same problem as shown on the users forum. I am not an IT specialist, although I know my way around installing and configuring programmes like BI. Emails to service center are met with one line comments, that are next to useless. Basically, BI 5 has reduced functionality for many users. I installed an alternative, used the same server, modem and devices and it clicked in and did its job. Shame, but BI overall quality has slipped - a lot..Version: 1.63.10

It’s okay, just okay- should be free for sureWorked fine when I had only 4 cameras. Added 2 more and it doesn’t work anymore, no cameras over 2MP. Don’t feel like playing 20 questions with tech support so I just use a favorited “shortcut” to the Blue Iris web app on my phone. Opens super fast in Safari ios and auto log’s in. I’m pretty sure I could figure out why this app stopped working but I have so much other stuff to do.... I need things that just work in my life..Version: 1.63.10

Video save broken after updateApp was a little clunky in the past, but mostly worked well. After update, can no longer save videos. The app acts like they are recording, but when stopped, they are not saved to the photos app (yes, I have given it permission to save). If this function is important to you, consider not updating..Version: 2.00.31

Unreliable, inefficient & complicatedThe app doesn't allow for most controls to be utilised on an iPhone/iPad - don't waste your money paying for the full version! The whole layout has a very complicated feel to it, and isn't user-friendly at all. The only version worth using is the PC one (which defeats a lot of the purpose if you were hoping to use the software/app on a mobile device). Very disappointed..Version: 1.56.00

Mediocre and buggyThe latest update has broken playback on multiple Apple devices. While trying to playback, the screen is black. Press pause, and you can see the image, press play and black again. The scroll back feature is less than ideal, and coming from the Unifi app, this leaves a lot to be desired, even when it actually works..Version: 2.00.32

Slow support not worth the money48 hours later I have not had a response from support I paid for!! that’s is not good enough if I was to get a break-in when software is not functioning then it could be costly. NOT RECOMENDED!!.Version: 1.63.10

Updated UI is a painThe updated UI is poorly designed for the iPad, used to be great before. For example a pop up window for playback of clips, that should just be full screen with a close option at top right (where there is currently a delete clip button... which again is poorly placed)... this needs a easy, quick UI for people just opening app and checking their CCTV in a the easiest and fastest way possible..Version: 2.00.22

Clips Don't Work!The latest version seems to have broken the playback of previously recorded clips. They play for a second or two and then stop and cannot be restarted..Version: 1.40.01

Great app but it’s more of a DIY nightmareTo start off. We used this app for about a good year. App has served well with minimal errors and has proven a sturdy app with playback being smooth and almost live playback speed on the viewing side. Viewing recordings is almost seem less as well with no studdering. It’s probably our nvr spec but it will not playback 4K level video unless you wait 4 hrs. Nightmare side. Apple did something that goofed up a tls version 1 ssl support and it cause a month of issues. I believe we have it sorted but it will pretty much only send notifications with no thumbnail but let us login. To view. U will get a positive experience just expect a longer time to get it ironed out.Version: 1.63.10

No longer great…Yearly subscription cost… License server, activation, failure, leaving you in the dark for weeks at a time… And then a cam talk forum that seems to exist for the sole purpose of avoiding any negative Blue Iris information. It’s time to move on… If you’re non-techie, Ubiquiti is is a great way to go for a one time fee. If you’re a techie, Frigate with its artificial intelligence alerting capability, will make you wish you switched long ago. Not a single erroneous alert in six months..Version: 2.04.03

No longer workingThis was the greatest thing about a Blue Iris Software. Even my wife had the technical ability to open the app check alerts and view the live camera feed. As you can see by update history it is no longer being supported and does not currently work. I’m using an iPhone and several iPads running the latest version of IOS 13. The app will not allow viewing a live feed. It pulls up blank screen and the crashes if you are outside the residence. I’ve been running BI and the app from it’s launch so I fully understand how it should work..Version: 1.63.10

Broken againThis update breaks the live Camera tab in the app (on iphone SE at least, maybe other devices). The ‘new’ PTZ hide feature puts a wide bar right over top of the controls making it impossible to use them anymore. There also seems to be little point to this feature as, at least on the several devices I use the app on (some landscape permanently mounted), that touching the bar doesn’t create any more screen space to make the image any bigger, it just visually removes the controls, and other devices the bar/ feature doesn’t even appear. Which also reminds me that, after a really long time since last round of updates, another thing previously broken still has yet to be fixed, that is when the app starts (on iPad landscape), the last live image view no longer opens full screen automatically, you have to go and manually do that now each time the app starts or restarts. And also, if the app has a problem communicating, and the live view returns, it returns with a bar overlapping the bottom of the live full screen that requires the app to be shut down and restarted to regain a normal full screen landscape camera view without that bar obstructing the image. These last two things broken during previous updates make using an iPad permanently mounted in landscape as a constant full screen live camera view, almost useless now ( where it worked wonderfully before) as it frequently requires attention to manually put it back to a normal full screen view. It seems it is often two steps forward and three steps backwards with this app; new features are nice, but breaking basic and essential features is not a suitable trade off, esp when they never get fixed, or only partly fixed months later. Blue Iris has an amazing design as a system as a whole, far better than any other, but the constant software problems, mostly related to existing things being constantly broken during very frequent updates (last ‘stable’ version caused more problems than any other update, making cameras suddenly frequently go offline), makes the system rather unreliable on and off, and has failed me multiple times when it was truly needed. And recently, I now get spammed every single day on my phone about updating the main software to a version that I’ve already told the software I do not want, and I can’t turn off alerts else I will also loose the cones that really matter..Version: 2.02.01

Delete all alerts problemEvery time I delete all alerts, the badge on the icon stays until I restart the the app. I notice if I use the mark as viewed menu then delete all alerts, the badge disappears instantly. Please fix so the badge disappears as soon as you select delete all alerts Thank you.Version: 2.03.07

Could be betterAwful UI , although main windows app isn’t much better. It’s like going back to 2005. Also no timelime option, use the web interface and it has a nice timeline slider that you don’t have to keep selecting recorded videos to view. Apart from that it works ok so 2 stars for that..Version: 2.04.05

Crashes when accessing clips on ipadBlueiris is a great software with many updates and improvements as you go along. I love the software. For the APP however it has been having crashes when accessing clips, there is no way for me to go watch my clips without it crashing and closing, on both iPad 5 and iPhoneXR, it was working super well until they upgraded something and it is now nothing more than a realtime viewer, I cannot see clips. It sucks that i cannot go back to a previous version..Version: 2.00.38

Bad UI, Badges and notifications don’t workJust paid for this app. It connects to my Blue Iris server, but it has a couple of serious defects. The count of notifications on the app icon is always incorrect until I go into the app - doesn’t automatically update. More serious, even though all notification settings are activated, the app does not create any lock screen or other notifications, making it useless for home security / alert scenarios. Given how long it’s been since the app has been updated, it’s likely that it is not able to deal with the iOS13 changes to app notifications. In any case, while the Windows software is really good, this app is NOT worth the money. Hopefully the app developer will ship a major update but until then, look for another solution for mobile alerts with your Blue Iris server..Version: 1.63.10

Can't view video any moreI have had the app for over a year. The app shows notifications but doesn't feed the video anymore. My camera server is still fine which makes this frustrating.Version: 1.58.00
