✓ Weather War bugs Don’t WorkOverall the app seemed decent enough until the tornadoes a few days ago. That’s when I found out that the weather alerts don’t work. It doesn’t matter how many locations I add, the app claims that I don’t have any locations set so I cannot turn on weather alerts. Since I have turned off the built in weather app, I didn’t get any warnings. Good thing I was watching TV at my friends house that night or I never would have known what was heading toward us..Version: 4.8.600
✓ ProblemsAmong many problems with this new app version, one that sticks out to me is having to watch video to get a “watch” or “warning.” I have a child that is extremely disturbed by storms and it is not convenient to watch a video to find out if we are in a watch or warning. It also highly disturbs me that after a major weather catastrophe like we just had, I would have to try to dodge ads to even see the current conditions for my area. (After all, even that is very difficult to locate on this new app design.) I will give the design one more chance, but I will also be comparing other designs to this because a change maybe necessary. ✓ Severe weather alerts leave a lot to be desiredThe color coding on the weather alerts is terrible. I shouldn’t have to compare and contrast in a moment of urgency to determine watch vs warning vs t-storm vs tornado. Nor should I have to sit through an ad before can view the “tornado warning in your area” video. And please help me understand why I can’t tap a warning box on the radar and actually read the information about the warning..Version: 4.8.600
✓ Only works when connected to home wi-fi!It doesn’t really do me any good (especially with weather alerts) since it only works when I’m at home and the app can connect to my home Wi-Fi. I’ve looked to look to see if there’s some setting that I don’t have set (the app itself has only weather alert settings), but I can’t find anything..Version: 5.5.804
✓ GO BACK TO THE OLD VERSION!!!When are you going to pay attention to all of the negative reviews and change the app back to the older version everyone loved? Can’t you see these negative ratings? None of the little fixes solve the problems. This app is too busy and too convoluted with junk we don’t need! Users are busy and want to see the 7-day forecast and radar! Could it be you can’t change it until the ad programs you sold expire? And what good are ads that get less eyeballs? Why else wouldn’t you change it back NOW? Luckily I told my husband not to update the app on his phone or the iPad. He picked up my phone the day after the tornadoes and said he couldn’t make heads or tails out of it! I never use it on my phone now. Change this app back to the clear, concise, colorful, uncluttered version it once way and quite monkeying around with something that people hate and doesn’t work!!!!!!!!.Version: 4.10.800
✓ Change it back!!I have used this app daily for years and loved it, up until recently when you updated it. Half the time it doesn’t work, it’s constantly crashing, and was much easier to navigate and understand before. I also used to receive notifications every time it rained, stormed etc. and now I don’t get anything. I wish more than anything you’d change back to how it was!.Version: 4.8
✓ Update ruined this appI get an alert now and open the app and the first thing I get is an ad that I have to wait through to even get the specifics. Guess that warning isn’t as important as whatever is being advertised. Now I have to hunt for a new app.Version: 4.8.600

✓ Change Back to the old appThe alerts are not very loud with this new voice announcement it’s terrible please change back to the old alert at least I could hear the voice announcement across the room. This new one it’s been changed to every since the Tornados hit on Memorial Day is the worst ever not good considering we have Tornado watches tonight and this boring monotone voice doesn’t catch your attention I had to download a different weather app. Please Fix this.Version: 4.8.600
✓ Go back to the old appThis one freezes up, is too awkward to understand, and consistently tell me there are WiFi issues when everything else on my phone is working just fine. ✓ Big disappointmentAfter the constant push to download the WHIO weather app I decided to try it. I have to say that this is the most annoying app I’ve ever worked with. This weekend I was barraged with notifications of severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches and warnings. Unfortunately, I have no idea where all this was. When I tried to see the watch or warning, I got a video commercial and that was it. Why can I just read where the warning is? I don’t have time or the inclination to watch a video. ✓ Their name says it all — STORM Center 7It could be called “Weather Watcher 7” or “Weather Center 7”. Anything but such a negative word. About the app. First thing you should see is the temperature, then current conditions & all else if you want it. Also , stop trying to include everyone by saying, “You will need a coat or a jacket & perhaps gloves and a hat if you are heading for the buss stop or walking or maybe you will be outside working or.. “. ✓ Passed up on this appDeleted it a while back. If the old app comes back or something better that is not a royal pain or frustrating, please announce it on T.V. Didn’t know there were so many horrible reviews as I thought it was just me. I was ready to come back until I read the reviews. ✓ CommercialsToo many commercials before you get to the weather. Also stop the forced nick-names. Most are already taken and it takes forever to find something that works. You really don’t want these responses because of the ridiculous nickname requirement..Version: 5.1.604
✓ July 2023 update does not show radar correctlyI’m using an iPhone 12. After the update radar is either not updated correctly or shows false weather. Shows thunderstorms that aren’t there. When there is a thunderstorm the radar doesn’t pick it up, shows only the lightning. I have screen shots of this. Also the 24 hour radar is based on an assumption where storms will hit, not completely accurate. I prefer to watch where storms were moving in an hour period. If this is not fixed, I’m deleting the app...Version: 5.10.504
✓ Latest update epic failI used to LOVE the WHIO weather app! Used to being the really important part of that sentence. Now I really don’t like it at all. I am considering going back to the Weather Channel app and I didn’t like it either. It is very hard to find alerts. I don’t want to watch a video about them. I just want to be able to quickly glance at the app to know what’s going on. I also don’t like the announcer that tells me heavy rain is detected in my area. I can see and hear that, and I usually see and hear it before the announcement comes. Where the heck did you guys put the current temperature?!?!? That used to be front and center. That’s what most people want to know. I don’t want to watch all the videos. I want to look at the app and see for myself. I never watched the forecast on the previous version, I’m not starting now. ✓ Way too many notificationsThe notifications from this app are excessive and redundant. I estimate I get anywhere from six to eight notifications a day. The notification preferences screen is confusing. I want to be sure I get notifications for severe weather and I’d even like the occasional alert for possible rain, I guess, but a 5-day forecast notification and three notifications a day telling me it’s hot outside is just too much..Version: 5.3.600
✓ Waste of money to pay ITI used to rely on this app for my hour-by-hour weather updates. I especially liked being able to see the barometric pressure. Now, the radar is terrible, slow and jerky, and there is still no barometer display. I think the IT dept made it worse than before, just for job security to have to fix it. ✓ Temperature Map bugLatest update introduced a bug in the Temp map. The colors show up but no little circles with the number in them. Haven’t updated other devices yet and I’ll wait till they fix this one. It was a quick and easy way to check the temps where friends and family live..Version: 5.6.506
✓ Push notificationsExpect lots of notices. I only wanted emergency notices. It seems that WHIO weather wants to remind me that they are still here several times a day. ✓ This App is AwfulI prefer WHIO’s old app. Easier to read without the the ads and videos. love WHIO weather app. Easy to see what was coming at a glance especially needing to know the situation of bad weather. Now it’s videos and video ads of WHIO. The store not user friendly. Videos are not saving time. An alert showed up on my phone tonight of a tornado watch which you could see a few of the effective counties but not all. When I tried to find the listing, it took a long time due to the videos. There are also many pop-up ads too. I’m not fond of the weather channel but I may switch. I wish you would bring back the old app..Version: 5.1.604
✓ Too many Video AdsThis app has lost it’s functionality with the constant bombardment of video ads. You cannot quickly get the weather information that you need without suffering through a video advertisement. This doesn’t work well on your phone or with limited bandwidth..Version: 5.2.302
✓ Crashes & locks, ads block displayThis app is poorly designed. If you open the app and then open it again after a couple of hours, it crashes with the message “Error unable to display data, check your wifi settings”. I have verified with many of my colleagues that they too are receiving the same message on both ipads and iphones when connected to wifi. There are too many large ads that obscure viewing the information on the screen. I could not even see the hourly forecast because of a huge Quest eseries rider ad. Surely WHIO has enough revenue to make an ad free app. As it stands, there are much better ad free weather apps to use..Version: 4.8.600
✓ Not as good as used to beThe app does not tell, dewpoint or humidity level. At least that I can find. On your radar I don’t understand why or when it changed but it does not show future weather as in hitting the play button and seeing when a storm will pass. when you hit play, it goes all the way to the end and says now , that’s not helpful at all. ✓ FailChanging an app is not always an improvement. Several issues have ruined this app. 1) It is too busy, too many categories, too many videos (who wants to have to stop what they’re doing to watch a video?) 2) Ads...the biggest pain for all app users. Too many ads, often splashed right over content, very distracting, and the user is forced to endure the ads by accepting them or go through an Ad Preference exercise (meaning you WILL see distracting ads, like it or not) 3) Weather warnings seem to have disappeared, did not happen at all during a recent tornado warning 4) An app is supposed to make things easier and streamlined, a simpler user experience.
