VSCO: Photo & Video Editor for Positive User Reviews

Pls fix itNew update made it very difficult to paste edits from another photo without changing the original from camera roll. Also edited photos again don’t get saved into special VSCO album on iPhone which was a really handy thing. Modernization is a necessary part of great future and comfort, but there are little great things that people get used to, keep them in mind when you change UX..Version: 194.0

The best editing app for photographers, not selfieholicsThere are many reviews complaining VSCO isn’t free, or that’s it’s ‘boring’, but as a photographer this app is invaluable for tweaking or editing before uploading to socials or photo archive sites. I say this as a ‘real camera’ photographer and someone who had Lightroom and Capture 1 at my disposal. The preset film styles may not always be spot-on, but that’s mostly due to the original photo than the expertise of the app creators (I still miss their excellent LR presets). But they offer an excellent starting point, and allow the tweaking of characteristics to get the look you want. My favourite are the Fuji simulations. But if even if I’ve edited the photo already in LR, the ability to give it a little tweak, add some grain, crop to 5:4 for Instagram etc, it’s worth the price alone for me as a daily user. And I mustn’t overlook the fact it’s also a social photo gallery app too. You can upload your photos in higher quality than Instagram, and enjoy a more pleasant environment among photographers than the content scraping, tiktok reposting, dumpster that is Instagram. Highly recommend 👍.Version: 228.0

Love it, but it could be better imoI use this to edit all my photos and I love it, I'm also a VSCO X member and I definitely recommend it for everyone. But, I would like it if you guys made the highlight option to not only take away highlights but to enhance them as well, or present an option where I can select what portions of my image I want highlighted (I’d prefer this more), and the same for shadows. Also, I’d like to be able to add presets to DSCO, not just the ones you offer as soon as I take it, because the way it functions now I’d have to save the DSCO, then re upload it to VSCO, which I find tedious. I’d also like the option to turn other videos I have into DSCO. Oh, also for DSCO, I want to be able to save it to my VSCO library, instead of only being to save it to my phone or uploading it to my VSCO feed, and make it longer, DSCOs are so short. And it would be cool if you introduced options that are fun like chromatic aberration, or vintage scratches and dust. If you guys had all these things I wouldn’t touch another app lol. The app’s dope though, keep it up..Version: 87.0

Image quality dropping on certain imagesHi I’m wondering if others have had the same problem but I’ve been using vsco since 2015 and I’ve yet to purchase the subscription service as I bought most of the preset packs prior, but recently a couple of my photos when exported drop down becoming really pixelated. Other photos from the same camera/taken on the same day are fine but it’s happened to four from the same batch of images I’ve wanted to save. I have even tried adding the same image in again and copying the edits made yet it still exports it lower than the normal image quality. Not sure what else to do :/.Version: 184.0

Love the app, but please add this feature!!I’ve been using VSCO for many years now and I love it—their presets are amazing and the “look” VSCO has mastered even persuaded me to upgrade to the full version. I really love being able to create journals, which brings me to my next point: please please PLEASE (i’m literally begging u) create a feature that allows owners to download images from their journals. I ended up creating a bunch of journals with some of my favorite edited photos, then lost my phone (and with it my artist studio) and as a result, I no longer have access to downloading the edited versions. While I sometimes do copy and paste edits, I typically make small individual changes and to go through the entire process for each journal would take hours. Please make this option available—it wouldn’t even have to be for public use, but at least give owners of the photos the option. I would be so appreciative! Otherwise I have 0 complaints and suggest it to anyone who enjoys photography..Version: 177.0

So bad!Not only one thing that it didnt even show up on my homescreen. two! it kept signing me out of my account! i wasn't even able to be in my account for a minute!! i want it fixed..Version: 185.0

Latest Update lets it down :(One of the best editing apps I’ve ever used.... and put it this way , I’ve used a LOT. I would give a 5 star review but sadly this latest update has made me quite unhappy. The reason for this is that Finished edits are no longer saved in the studio. I really liked that feature because if for whatever reason I didn’t have a picture anymore , I could scroll down my studio and find it . To be completely honest I was quite annoyed when I found out I couldn’t do that anymore . Another thing is that the app has been noticeably more laggy and even error codes have come up since the update. I have even noticed that after I’ve finished editing and pressed ‘save to camera roll’ , the photo didn’t actually save and when I went back again to try to save it, the photo wasn’t there in the studio. I have had to start over and edit a few photos again because of this which is quite frustrating as this was never an issue before. Extremely disappointed to say the least because it used to be a really good app and I never had ANY problems but the update has really let it down. Please fix this ASAP..Version: 121.0

Your subscriptions are a scamYour subscriptions are a very misleading. In the app I saw Pro filters, clicked on them, they suggested to buy a subscription for £30 a year. I bought it. there is nowhere in the app that shows that I bought it, the Pro filters I wanted are still locked and say now I need to pay £60 a year. Why didn’t you ask for £60 right away? How can I compare plans, how are thy different? What did I pay £30 for, what do they get me? Nothing? Tried contacting support, there’s a chatbot. I wrote what my problem is, it said to me to contact support via email via a form. So I opened the form and had to write the whole message from scratch again and also fill the silly fields like what phone I have (the app should know that I am writing this message from iPhone, don’t ask me that). I finished writing the whole message, hit send and the app said my request cannot be submitted — no further explanation. So I am writing here for the third time from scratch to tell you your app is an absolute joke. Please refund me my subscription money..Version: 318.0.1

Deleting from Camera RollI’ve said this before in a review, and will say it again. Please bring back the feature where my images would store on the app, and not be affected if deleted from my camera roll. You may not think so, but that was a major plus and benefit for me. I’ve been a longtime user of VSCO, and also a paid subscriber. Please restore it..Version: 280

Brilliant App, Some Frustrating Teething IssuesThis is an app I have used for many years. Offering an all in one, photo-sharing platform with the emphasis on photo and not on “likes” or “followers”. This app has given me high levels of inspiration only matched by the quality of VSCO’s photo editing experience, an app I would recommend to anyone in love with the beauty of photography and aesthetic. However, since recent updates I have experienced frustrating levels of unpredictability, when exporting photos. Problems I have never had before, have now started happening when saving photos onto my camera roll. The most persistent being the presence of black squares, rectangles and boxes covering parts of the photo, like some sort of glitch in the rendering. This is extremely frustrating and unfortunately may be enough to push me away from the application all together. A decision I would never take lightly, with VSCO being such a fundamental part of my workflow and my down-time. Yet I also have full confidence that this should be merely a teething issue, following the app’s recent facelift. I hope these rendering problems are solved in swift time, so I can continue to experience the full extent of an app experience I have came to love, in VSCO..Version: 205.1

VSCO reviewOh hi there, uh, my hyrdoflask, you have one? no? take mine, ive got more. i was just thinking about turtles, i love the turtles, got to save the turtles, okay? say no to straws. thats why i use my metal straw you have one? no? uh, come on, here, use mine, alright? you may have noticed my scrunchies, i have two, one to share, take it take it take it. yes, and, friendship bracelet time! okay? come on over, we will make some and it will be fun sksksk and i oop.Version: 127.0

So far, a million times better than instagramSo far it’s really good, super creative! Love how it’s not about vanity and the sexiest half naked woman on instagram. There is a lot more to appreciate than the basic pornographic selfie on instagram, there is a lot of artistic talent to appreciate and admire in every picture I’ve seen so far! I hope it steers clear of the same path instagram went down! I do feel like it needs more free filters though, just to add more variety for those who can’t pay for a membership..Version: 135.0

Verification TroublesIt’s an amazing editing app that allows for everyone to make their own custom adjustments and even gives them a good selection of pre- made filters that allows the user to have a good glimpse of what the app can do. The whole feed and layout is similar like to Instagram but still has that unique feature and qualities that makes it different than the- said app. Although some troubles in trying to claim the account of others and for yourself, is quite hard as you cannot verify your account unless the email that you put in, is correct. The problem with this issue, is that many users change emails and even get new phones (completely) and loose access to their old email for them to actually verify the account. Without adding the feature for them to change their email or even add their new email/ phone number, they can’t verify their account and edit their account (such as account name, edit the bio, links, etc). If VSCO adds the feature of letting the users claim their account in different ways, then it’s better for them, altogether..Version: 196.1

Great app but PLEASE fix collage featureI have been using vsco for years, i have the premium membership (not the new premium membership?? the original premium membership if that makes sense) and i use it all the time. i am BEGGING the developers to fix the collage feature. it is buggy as all get out, i so appreciate that you guys have added the option to save the collage to your gallery so that you can come back and edit it later as opposed to just a one and done type deal, however half the time doing so completely wrecks the orientation of/other edits made to the images in the collage. it is so convenient to have such a simplistic and powerful photo editor in combination with a collage app, especially considering how FEW really good collage apps there are available. i like that you can overlay images however you want, there are no stodgy formatting rules, it’s easy to work with and really enables creativity in that regard- you guys could stay so competitive if you really put some oomf into the collage capabilities of this app. anyway that’s my 2 cents as someone who really appreciates so many aspects of this app!!.Version: 322.0.0

Absolutely adore this app.Paying for premium or not, this app is the best for photo editing. It gives you so many choices to edit with, and you can also post your photos to your feed so other people can come visit your profile and see what you’ve edited. I’ve dedicatedly used VSCO since it came out many moons ago, and have loved it since the very beginning. It’s been great to watch this app blossom into what it’s become today and inspire a whole aesthetic which is so cool to me. May not be my aesthetic personally, but the fact they inspired their own aesthetic is way cool. I don’t see myself ever stopping using VSCO even though I can’t afford premium anymore, I had it for a year, and on my old phone years back, back when they sold filters and packs I had all of them too but I lost access to that Apple ID. Have no idea what it is under unfortunately even though I had it for 5 years. Lost everything. Including my access to that VSCO since it was attached to that Apple ID. I love you guys greatly, and maybe one day if I can afford premium again that would be amazing. I miss my old account lol, would be really interesting to see what’s on it. no idea how to retrieve it though. Thanks again VSCO for all of the memories throughout the years. It’s definitely been worth it..Version: 312.0.0

Lagging problemI love vsco’s smooth speed feature, I’ve been using this app for a while now and I find it very helpful but the longer I use the speed it gets laggy and it makes the outcome of the video laggy and bad, can this be fixed please? This is my fav slo mo app it’s very smooth until this problem occurs. Thank you.Version: 256.0

What’s with this new update?Don’t fix something that isn’t broken guys? The app has been great for years? What is with this new interface for choosing photos/ editing? It’s clunky, it’s fiddly and it’s annoying? Far far preferred being able to import photos to studio in bulk and work from there. Can’t import directly into drafts. It’s just added layers to the process that make it so much more confusing to use. Your app was amazing for years and years, I’m a devout VSCO user, but no more film packs for Lightroom and this clunky evolution of the phone app has me looking elsewhere :(.Version: 195.1

Cool amazing awesome perfect skskAll I can say is skskskskskksksk.Version: 142.0

This is the true photographers social media. No follower count. no like count. no comment section. i love this app so much. things that can improve: 1: MAJOR ISSUE - White line appearing on posted photos you use the crop/straighten/perspective tool on. Any photo that uses these tools that essentially crop the photo in one way or another will result in a white line once the photo is posted to VSCO. PLEASE fix this! 2: BORDERS - Please consider to allow for Non-square borders? I want even borders around my non 1:1 images! Maybe some more colors to the palette of options? 3: “Remove” tool - Minimum size brush is still too small, max zoom could be increased along side with a smaller brush to enable more intricate correction. Maybe a target mask option would be nice so we can help the Ai decide what to replace the selection with. 4: Smaller Text - allow us to make the text even smaller than is currently possible? Thanks and please keep the app NUMBERLESS with followers and likes please! It’s what keeps this app wholesome and healthy..Version: 299.0.0

Great app but i have these inconveniencesI’ll start off by saying that this is a great app. I love using it to edit and I especially love how no one can see each other’s numbers of followers, likes, republishes, etc. It’s a free and positive space for me to post whatever I want without having to stop and think about what other people’s opinions of it may be. There’s no negativity on the app. The reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because of the update. I don’t like how when I delete a picture from my camera roll, it gets deleted from the studio as well. Maybe I don’t want the edited pic on my camera roll anymore but i do on the studio. Perhaps i’ve changed my mind and i want it back. Having it stored in my studio was great for me. Also, I liked being able to click on the home buttons on the bottom to go back to the top of the page I’m on. I can refresh quicker that way, but now I have to scroll back ALL the way to the top? I find that very inconvenient. Please go back to how it was before..Version: 175.0

Good app but...It’s a good app but i wish there was a way to let us pay monthly !!.Version: 120.0

Beautiful App!I have lost count of the amount of photo editing apps I have downloaded on my phone and deleted after a couple of days because of either how bad or expensive they are. Yesterday I downloaded VSCO and I can already say that this is the app that will stay. It’s exactly what I need - an app that offers a beautiful user interface, it is easy to use, it thinks outside the box, and most importantly, it doesn’t cost a fortune. I will be buying a subscription, and despise some of the reviews I have read staying that it’s not worth the money for just a bunch of extra filters, I think it definitely is compared to other apps on the store..Version: 83.0

I love VSCOI have used vsco for years, as both a photo editing app and a social media platform. I have 2 accounts, pro for my main account but not my second- if you’re willing to pay for premium it is worth it for both, but if not then don’t even bother to download. They have locked so many features for those who don’t subscribe that without a premium account, it does barely more than I can do in the photo app on my iphone. Went down to four starts because 1. like others, I would love to have an archive option and 2. every time I open the app I’m accosted with messages from vsco promoting this or that new feature and will sometimes get multiple during the 10-15 minutes i’m on there. These messages have to be dismissed before you can use the app and it’s annoying when I’m just there to edit a picture rather than learn about new features. I’d rather they make a separate message inbox for these notifications that I can check if i’m interested..Version: 344.0.0

LoveeeI really like this app for editing. Obviously most apps like this have a cost and that’s completely fair. But the free content available is still absolutely amazing. I really like how you can see the layout of your edited photos and what it looks like before you upload them to Instagram for instance. BUTTT it would be absolutely amazing if I could move a photo to a different spot in the studio after I’ve edited to see what works better in different spots. At the moment if I wanted to move something I would have to completely delete it and re upload and it’s just a hassle. Please add that feature to the next update!!.Version: 99.2

Slow moIt’s so cool because it helps me with my slow mo and fast mo and it does so much editing.Version: 256.0

Quite DisappointedI downloaded this app purely to slow down videos for edits, and thats exactly what i got. High quality, smooth slo-mos that I could use whilst editing. My only issue, was that I couldn’t save it. I, like many others, can’t afford to pay for a membership as I don’t earn any money (I’m still in education) and I don’t want to trouble my parents with paying for even more than they already do. I can understand why a membership was introduced, its a clever way to earn more, but if I were to give any advice, it would be to let non-members save videos. I’ve had to stop using the app, like other people I’ve heard from, which is a shame as there are no other good apps for slo-mos. Also a problem for VSCO, as you may potentially be losing users due to the lack of features available without a membership. I’m not sure if theres a way around this issue in the app that I haven’t found, making this entire review pointless, but I am still nonetheless disappointed that I won’t be able to use it anymore..Version: 252.0

VSCO X Video - 1080p Please? (Better Resolution)VSCO Cam has been one of my all time editing apps ever and with the addition of editing videos through the VSCO X program, I adore this app even more. However, it would really be great and beneficial if VSCO allows us to export the edited videos at least up to 1080p. I know that 4K is not a must and that is totally fine, but I would’ve like to export videos after editing at FullHD resolution and not up to 720p for better, high quality videos. I think that a lot of consumers would’ve like to save not only the best looking photos, but also producing the best looking videos don’t you think? Overall, I admire VSCO as a whole but I think with a couple of improvements like saving videos in FullHD resolution, VSCO would have potential of being the perfect photo and video editing app..Version: 50.0

It’s a wonderful app but...I absolutely adore this app, I can see what my friends are getting up to, and they can see what I’m doing too. What I love about this app that makes it stand out from instagram and Snapchat is that in this app, u can’t comment rude things, u also can’t like the picture so it shows the publisher if u like it or don’t. My only issue with this app is that it’s constantly crashing. It just won’t load. And I know it’s not my WiFi network because if I go onto vsco on another WiFi, it might do the same and not work. Overall I think the app is amazing, but they just need to fix that one issue..Version: 91

1 star for VSCO’s greed.Only 5 stars to tell you to use Snapseed. They have the free features VSCO decided to take away..Version: 284.0

Please read thisOk so I’ve had VSCO for a bit, and it was great, but recently they took away some of the filters and editing tools and made it so you had to pay and have like a membership to use them. THEY USED TO BE FREE! So I came on here to see if anyone else said anything and someone did, the response from VSCO was that they were sorry the user was having trouble getting the membership/tools and whatnot, that’s not the point, the point is we just want back what we had for free. You took away the free tools and made it so you have to pay for them. I just don’t understand. I rlly like them. But I’m sorry, I’m not paying for the membership, I never buy stuff or pay for premium stuff on apps. I guess I’ll have to deal with this. All I ask is to please give us more free tools and filters. Now for those who want the app, it’s nice, you can edit and post, follow ppl etc. BUT for lots of the stuff you have to pay to use it. VSCO, thank you for a great app. Thank you for making a good way to share with friends. Edit: I do suggest getting this. Sorry if this review sounds negative. I am just frustrated. I do think that this is a good app . I suggest this to anyone..Version: 269.1

Great app but..I’ve just started using VSCO and I think overall it’s a very nice app with some quality filters. However, whilst it’s great hay the app offers RAW editing, a few things are missing. Anyone who edits raw files will know that beaches the image is unprocessed the image will often need sharpening and will contain excess noise. One of the first things you should do when editing a raw file is to denoise the image. Unfortunately you can’t do that with VSCO which kind of makes their raw editing Irelevant for people that are serious about editing raw pictures. Hopefully a denoise tool will be added in the future. That would make the app perfect..Version: 65.0

Always room for improvementI personally think VSCO is a great alternative to not only IG, but a great platform to share photos with other editors! I love the fact that there is no number associated with each post. All the social standards of having “a lot of likes/comments” is not an issue here. It allows creators to really just focus on expressing themselves through photo editing. I would like to say the same for video but it’s only available to members, which are those who can afford to do so; leaving those who aren’t as fortunate enough without that opportunity. I think making VSCO’s video feature free would really attract more users. In addition, I love how vsco can be easily linked to instagram (amongst other apps as well), but I dislike the fact that one must scroll and see every individual photo. I think if VSCO adapted a similar case to instagram, where photos are all in collages so that one can see multiple photos at once, rather than scrolling to view each individual one, it would be much more efficient. I guess being able to view VSCO through Instagram where one can see view multiple photos instead of scrolling down through every picture. Kind of like the desktop version of VSCO but on mobile (thru links). Overall, it’s a great app!!.Version: 170.1

Beautiful results easilyLove this app. Get amazing photos so easily by adjusting a few things. So simple to use and great results..Version: 41.0

Worth the moneyI see a lot of people with issues for paying for VSCO. I do the yearly membership and I’ve been paying for VSCO since probably 2017. It’s one of my favorite apps because it has so many amazing editing features and even though it is technically social media, it doesn’t feel like it. I often delete social media apps from my phone but I haven’t deleted VSCO once as there is no toxic environment about it. To me it seems to be a place where anyone can post what they want without the fear of being judges. Somehow it just feels different than the rest. It is a little upsetting that they’re increasing prices but seems like all membership platforms are unfortunately. Two things I would love to see this application add is a blemish fix feature and the abilities to add grain to a video. I never understood why such a popular feature wouldn’t be available for he video editing. Other than that, as someone who loves photography, it’s one of my favorite apps!.Version: 307.0.0

Amazing Camera AppThis app is the bees knees of camera apps. I've tried lots and this is by far my favourite!! It's quiet rare for me to do a review of something. But this deserves it. The only let down I have is that there is a paid side for extra features, but I can understand. They need to make some income some way. Overall. I love it. It's my day to day camera app and sometimes it's just so much easier than getting out my DSLR to take a picture..Version: 39.0

[UPDATE - issues resolved!] Many key features removed in this update 🤬[UPDATE] The latest update has reinstated EXIF data and fixed the major complaints I had with the previous version. I received a developer response and have been impressed by the quick turnaround of the fixes. However, please ensure that exported images go into the VSCO camera roll album as they used to. Apart from that, great service and glad it’s sorted! I’ve used this app and had a premium subscription for about a year now, but this latest update has rendered it virtually useless for me. Firstly, it now strips images of their original EXIF data when exporting to the iOS camera roll. Secondly, they’ve disabled the ‘Import to VSCO option’ on the sharesheet within other apps (such as Lightroom - a feature I used all the time to add images to VSCO to be worked on). Thirdly, images exported to the iOS camera roll now don’t automatically go into the VSCO folder that the app created previously. Finally, some of the presets such as SS and SUM simply don’t do anything now. I won’t be renewing my subscription unless all of the above features are reinstated..Version: 169.1

It is an amazing appI love this app, but… there’s a but. I believe there are too many options! I think there are many filters that are so similar that difference is not noticeable. I spend so much time scrolling and trying to decide which one to use. Beside that I would love to have the studio synced acrossed devices, because I use the app on two different mobiles..Version: 337.0.0

Fantastic app but simply overpricedAs far as photo editing prowess goes, VSCO is up there with the best. But the price has become absurd and I don't know how anyone would justify it when there are other apps which have the same capabilities for less money. Untill VSCO rethinks their pricing model I'm jumping over to Darkroom, as buying all of their features permanently is HALF the price of a VSCO annual subscription. Sorry guys, I genuinely think you've overestimated your market worth..Version: 106.0

BewareStarted a 7 day trial of VSCO x on the 31st (still have the email.) the next day I get emailed a Apple receipt for the full amount of $29. I want a refund..Version: 54.0

PremiumKinda dumb how you have to get premium to use everything yk.Version: 196.1

How do i cancel my membership?I don’t know why my apple account was paid for the vsco cam yearly membership. I had problems with installing apps and i deleted this app days ago and it was already paid after I deleted the app I don’t know how i can ask for refunding and getting my money back I’m already satisfied with this app so I don’t need a membership at the moment please fix this problem.Version: 80.0

StillStill a VSCO user since day 1 of this app. Love it. Request please: Add an action to “Import to VSCO” for videos. It only comes up for photos. Also, need to show/have access to all albums/media types when importing from Studio. Can only access recents and my albums. And request to add border feature for video as well with same function as in the photo editor. Thanks guys!.Version: 235.0

AwesomeIt’s really helpful but still kinda wish that they were all free, still a really good app.Version: 67.0

Love this app, literally more than any other appI have been using this app since 2013 and it only gets better. There have been features over the past years that I’ve had to get used to but overall I love it. I use it everyday. I think the idea behind this app is absolutely perfect. This app has given me the courage to explore my own creativity and open up to sharing it. I don’t worry about how many people notice my photos and I love that comments and likes are not a feature on this app. Every feature from the wide variety of presets, DSCO (ability to make your own gifs), taking videos AND being able to edit them and participating in challenges BRINGS ME JOY AND HAPPINESS! I highly suggest joining the VSCO membership, it’s worth every penny! Thank you so much to the creators and VSCO team for creating and continuing to update and evolve the VSCO app. It’s made an impact on my life so THANK YOU!.Version: 196.1

Don’t read the others. Pay for what you enjoy. Vote with your wallet. As someone who rarely writes App reviews, I thought it would be good to clear the air about the negativity from the recent reviews. I use VSCO sporadically. I’m not a Instagramer, or a pro-photography. I enjoy playing with photo editing apps and appreciate the design simplicity of VSCO. I’m on my second year of paying for VSCO X. My reason being is it equates to about $2.5 a month. I’m actual terms that’s what I’d consider the upper limit cost for a ‘virtual hobby’ I enjoy. It’s easy to use. It’s always updated regularly. It has a vibrant community with very, very, positive like minded people. When I give up on this hobby, I’ll stop paying for VSCO X, simple as that. Until then, keep up the good work. The above review is my own personal opinion..Version: 96.0

Good but not greatVsco is a good app! Has really great filters to choose from but obv some are locked so y’all have to pay! I think what would be better if they added maybe a comment feature so followers can interact with the artistic pictures, but yk don’t want it to be similar to instagram. although great app..Version: 234.1
