β A game you love to hateThis game is utterly fantastic. It builds on the first game well, having expanded on hero capabilities (some of which are hilarious - the wizard dude being my favourite) and the new towers are fun and effective. I also love the desert theme, and I don't know any other game that has got humour and epic ness in such sync, with the artillery towers ("say hello to my little friend!") and the ninja upgrade for the barracks ("death approaches") providing a healthy bit of both. Explaining my title, I also hate this game sometimes in that it can get so darn hard! I can spend a good 15 minutes on a level with a perfect run, only to be thwarted on the last couple of waves and have a rush of baddies rush past the defence line and take away one of my 'stars' or all. Time and again this will happen (for me, anyway) until you perfect a strategy. Difficult, but it keeps you playing with the same enthusiasm. Well worth it..Version: 1.7

β Still got itI was quite apprehensive following a hefty price tag, but felt it would be deserved if the game lived up to the high standards of the original. I am pleased to say it does - and on what it lacks in difficulty it makes up for in new units, towers and heroes. Note: The gameplay is not quite as well balanced as the original - whereby you can place a range of towers in a multitude of different places and still win which makes it much too easy. There is less effort needed to figure out the winning turret formation. If they make the campaign slightly harder I would be happy. I remember having to play a map over 10 times in the original before I could get three stars which made it SOOO much more satisfying when you achieve it. Not so with frontiers.. But as I said this issue is overshadowed by the quality of the graphics, unique new heroes and fantastic set of towers. All in all still worth the money..Version: 1.0

β Best tower defense so far.First game that has made me write a review. Just a tower defense game like fieldrunners? Yes, but with the exception of superbly thought out levels. Character animations exceptionally varied and highly comical. A very large number of different enemies with frankly superb bosses. Very professionally done. Upgrades for each tower extensive and very effective with graphic updates to allow you to see the power of each upgrade. I am a casual gamer and on the easiest setting I played this with my 8 year old daughter and thoroughly enjoyed beating the game with some very amusing moments. β Love it but...I love this game but a thing that could be improved on is how the artillery tower becomes either a ground pounder or a mech. β A lot of depthI do enjoy playing this game and have had it since it came out. Lately, the game updates have increased the difficulty level quite a lot and I can only assume it's so that players buy more jewels so they can get special weapons. I like the challenge of playing without these "cheats" but I don't think they want you to play without them anymore. They have done this with all three games in the series. β Unbelievably addictiveIncredibly entertaining, well designed units and upgrades. One of those "easy to learn but difficult to master" games. Fun factor's off the scale. Great replay value by simply increasing difficulty and victory conditions which make you think more about where you deploy your units. β Quality GamingCompared to the original, there is a clearer story, which is a really nice addition, the narrative gives further incentive to play. The gameplay and strategy is almost identical the first game, by why change something that is close to perfect? The new towers are fun, and many of the new maps are a nice challenge, even the early levels. For less than the price of a bad cup of coffee, you will struggle to find a game so well polished, that will keep you playing for weeks. I would pay much more. The gameplay is just what you remember, and the heroes have actually been improved (they actually survive and help). The new hero leveling/upgrading mechanic is an improvement. You get 3 heroes with the game purchase, then have to spend a small fortune to unlock the rest. The storyline isn't as entertaining and witty as the original, but it's still good. The towers looked a lot better in the original, they're kind of cheesy looking in frontiers. β Great fun but not a revolutionThis is a great game and adds to the kingdom rush franchise, as it were, but feels a bit made for release rather than being something amazingly new. Don't get me wrong, it's good fun and has given me hours of entertainment but quite a lot of small things could have been changed to make it seem like a new game was being released. Sounds, visuals, UI and theme could have been swapped to the new 'frontiers' feel; instead the kingdom rush equivalents were used. This was the main disappointment for me and felt like it was rushed for the sake of release. Additionally the AI for the barrack soldiers is still broken and enemies still walk past even though their 'awareness' circle should logically cover it. 4 stars for this instead of 5..Version: 1.2

As you play more, you unlock new characters, abilities and towers all with different styles of attack, creating situations which are perfect for certain towers. Kingdom Rush features a variety of genres- Medieval, some Futuristic and Fantasy. Dwarves have guns and there are aliens mixed in with knights and archers! For me, this created a subtle mix of characters without ruining the game. There are different environments like caves, deserts and beaches which will all introduce new challenges, enemies, towers and gameplay styles which provide a constant feeling of involvement and excitement for the gamer.
