✓ Good app with bad nameI’ve used this app for my hikes for 2 1/2 years. I love it. It’s a great guide, works without cell service and fellow hikers are constantly updating! But o hate the name & logo change. The original GutHook logo was a better symbol of what the app is. Go back to it! The new logo looks like it ought to be a childrens music app! I never understand the name GutHook but at least it was catchy. Far out is just dumb! If you can come up with an IMPROVEMENT don’t change what you have. Far Out I’d definitely NOT an improvement. ✓ Great Price for Peace of MindGuthook is the navigation aid for hikers. I was glad to have it doing my recent hike on the Appalachian Trail. The trail is well marked, but there are time when I needed reassurance that I hadn’t stepped off, or that I was going in the right direction. The elevation profiles were great tools to help me plan for the big pushes up and down the mountains. In the Wind River Range, it was a lifesaver as large sections of the trails are unmarked. Guthook saved me several times after I had veered away from the path. Thanks for this app!.Version: 10.1.5

✗ Amazing or Garbage, depending on the trailI used FarOut (previously guthook) on the PCT in 2019 and it was excellent. Currently using it on Te Araroa and it is only somewhat helpful. Missing campsites, markers, bypasses, and just generally not up to date. Granted, Te Araroa is a newer trail than some others but the app could definitely use a yearly update here to keep things current. On the well established trails this app is all you need.Version: 11.1.4
✗ Camino FrancesI got a response below - deflecting responsibility. Sorry but the water site your app marked as potable were clearly marked on site as non- potable. This is only one example. I assume you try to get get free crowdsourcing of “tips” to maximize profit. Your customer service attitude is shameful- admit you blew it and fix the mistake before you land in a lawsuit. I have purchased maps before from Far Out and now they seems to be Far Out of touch. I wrote to tell them their maps were Far Out of the way and the some of the spots marked with available water did not have potable water which is a huge oversight for anyone who takes the maps seriously. The response I got from Far Out was not - wow - we are really sorry let us make it right but instead “ can’t help you try contacting Apple” . Very lame..Version: 12.3
