The Zones of Regulation for Negative User Reviews

No accessible for allThe background music is just that, there is no option to have the words read aloud which makes it really inaccessible to children with disabilities (this is the main demographic who use zones of regulation).Version: 1.5.0

Would like more toolsI appreciate the effort on this app, but based on the screenshots was expecting more tools. The book had dozens of tools, but as far as I can tell, the app only references three. Would prefer less 3d gameplay and more focus on tools..Version: 1.2.2

Poorly executed ...I like the Zones of Regulation book / materials and was really hopeful that this app would compare but it doesn't . The app has a lot of text without voiceover - this is unfortunate as many students who would use this program have limited literacy skills. The new match the face game simply says "Game Over" if you make the wrong selection, and made me want to toss my iPad across the room. Nothing like an app that PUTS you in the red zone?! The fact you cannot access the sidewalk and buildings or the little skateboard on the sidewalk is infuriating to any kids I have shown this to, Not to mention, from a generalization perspective - should we really be running on the road? The games pace is slow. There is text about what the feelings are at each level but no instruction on the behavioural description of each feeling (e.g., I am in the red zone when I am angry. I know I am angry because my shoulders are tight, I feel like screaming, and I cannot loosen my fists.) I am hopeful with further updates this app gets way better as it is such a let down to the program and makes sense as a modality for the types of learners who often get taught the Zones program. As it stands now, I want my 5$ back..Version: 1.1

WHAT????WHERE ARE THE OBJECTIVES????????? I do not appreciate that this game is SO unstructured!!!!!!! I prefer structured games to unstructured games! Like, how am I supposed to know what to do, or where to go? This game literally PUTS me in the blue zone!.Version: 1.4.0

MomMy 9 year old son has been playing this game every day for a week. He's in a class that just began discussing The Zones of Regulation, so this app is a great teaching and reinforcing tool. He was disappointed that after two days of playing he had played the entire game and bought everything possible at the store. But he continues to play by deleting and adding new players. He seems to like the repetition. I would have given it 4 or 5 stars if a player could have gone through the colored zones more than one time..Version: 1.3.1

Nice game!I tried today, I had to delete it, I got it back, But, it doesn’t work.Version: 1.4.0

Wish there was the option of having the instructions read by ApSometimes this could be a useful tool for children to teach and help regulate at the same time if it was able to be done independently by younger children or children without strong reading skills. I often will introduce the Ap and then have children who struggle with reading request to do it independently; it loses all value at this point. With ability to have the student listen to instructions, this Ap would have 5 stars in my mind..Version: 1.3.1

Really disappointed with this appWe use the zones program in o.t., but this app doesn't speak, so my child can't use it on her own, she can't read. True false questions are not interesting or engaging. Wish I could get my money back..Version: 1.3.1

Makes Me RelaxedThis is a great game for kids with autism and other anger issues but the game lasts 15 minutes then your wonderful Zone of Regulation lesson is over but still it’s good in other ways!.Version: 1.3.6

LindaVery disappointing, minimal functions. Will not capture the interest of children..Version: 1.2.2

Zones of RegulationGreat compliment to the Zones curriculum. Engaging app. Just wish it would read the text for students that require the level if support. Would give a higher rating if it had this feature..Version: 1.2.2

Not worth the moneyVery poorly done, not worth to price. Very disappointed in the quality..Version: 1.3.1

LousyThis app includes a character controlled by the user running around into different "zones". Once in the zone, the user reads a quiz like question around that zone such as, "Which feeling is not in the green zone, sad, frustrated, content." Kids need to be able to read the prompts. My issue is not so much with the reading requirement but with the app's lack of responsive teaching. If I got it wrong, how come?? A reinforcer for readers, but only in the short term..Version: 1.3.1

Zones boring, not enough resourcesI'm very disappointed with this app. I use Zones a lot in my elementary counselling, and was hoping for some interactive components. There's not enough, & it's too wordy for most kids, & basically boring. I did like the 6 sides of breathing activity, but I was looking for more of the visual aids that are in the book, and couldn't find them..Version: 1.2.2

No AudioSo... This would be a decent app if it had audio... Without it, it's frankly overpriced. It's frustrating that my five year old wants to play/learn but I have to slow him down and keep him from clicking through because he is unable to read and I have to read every single prompt... Please add audio for the younger kids using this curriculum.Version: 1.3.1

Customize charactersI would like this app much better if I could customize the people..Version: 1.3.1

Needs moreMy 6year old has proprioception issues with vestibular and self regulation problems coupled with ADHD with impulsivity. He loved this app but it is so short that he was left wanting more. There are only a few zones and after the initial walk through the neighborhood there was nothing left to explore. The game is good but need a lot more meat. My little guy went from eager to bored within 30 minutes. Beef it up and I would be willing to pay 10 times the price AND recommend it to his OT..Version: 1.1

Love the idea, but can't get it to workSuper excited when I found this to use in-conjunction with Social Thinking curriculum with my students with Autism. Bought it & it hasn't worked correctly any of the times I've tried to use it. Super disappointing. Please fix it!!.Version: 1.2

No audioIt would be great if there was audio, but there is no sound so not worth it..Version: 1.3.1

Mo67I'm kinda disappointed - for the price I expected a few settings besides music - like the app reading the instructions for younger students, explanations. It has potential though..Version: 1.3.1

Excellent content, poor engagementFor the price, I expected a lot more from this app. It is not engaging enough to make kids want to play it more than once. Running in circles on the street is hardly exciting. The amount of content given to students at one time is also excessive. To go through all the emotions/triggers/tools for every Zone at once is too much for students to internalize effectively. This much information at once would be fine as a review during higher levels of the game (as far as I could see, higher levels did not exist). I played the game once and it appears that all I can do now is play the tool mini game over and over again. It is okay the first and second time but certainly is not fun enough to have me wanting to come back for more. For $4.99 I expected a game that would last more than 10 - 15 minutes. The store is lame. I bought everything in it after about ten minutes so there is no motivation for me to continue to earn coins since there is nothing left to buy. Great idea, needs to be developed MUCH further..Version: 1.0

Past basketball? We cannot get past the basketball free throw portion of the app. PLEASE HELP!!!.Version: 1.3.5

Has Potential But...I am a school psychologist and have been using this app for a year or so. I have recently gotten the newest iPad mini and now the audio in the app no longer works, making it much less engaging. Some other suggestions: corrective feedback when a child chooses the incorrect answer. Also, many of the prompts are very wordy and I often need to read promts aloud and clarify. Lastly, to promote further engagement and learning opportunities from this app (as the Zones is a great program), please continue to expand the app with new levels, activities, etc..Version: 1.3.1

Good for high functioning ASD/ADHDI'm a school based OT. I have been able to use this app to teach the zones to some of my middle schoolers. I wouldn't recommend for younger students or those with literacy concerns. I would like to see data that the app takes as far as getting the questions correct and tools selected..Version: 1.3.1

Should have moreFor the price, this should have more options. It really should have the option to read to students. Especially as this is designed for younger students, the reading language is quite difficult..Version: 1.3.1

It's okayI like the concept of having a game. It makes it so easy for me to introduce zones in an engaging way, but I wish it was less like trivia. I wish it would explain why the questions were wrong, or at least allow us to see the question to see what we did wrong. Or even tell us the right answer. I feel like kids can't really learn unless they know what they did wrong. I'm also disappointed in the tools part of the application. It doesn't allow you to skip tools. One tool is "jump on trampoline", but a client who is incapable of walking wouldn't be able to do that. Someone who doesn't have access to a trampoline wouldn't be able to engage in that tool either. Also, if the tool wouldn't help, then why are you making students put it in their toolbox? The zones and the toolboxes are supposed to be tailored to the individual..Version: 1.3.6

Not worth itI got this game at the recommendation of my sons OT. My 10 year old has Inattentive ADHD with emotional regulation difficulties, so i thought this would be a good supplement to what he is learning through the program at his OT's. WRONG. Both my 7 & 10 year olds finished the "game" in less than an hour. i couldn't believe it, so i played it. 1st, let's be clear, This wasn't really a game, as much a tutorial where you walk your character to various points and answer situational ?'s to get coins. The coins can be used to buy badges, but don't really do anything. My daughter thought the graphics were creepy, my son said the characters looked weird, and both asked if there were zombies hidden in the town! My son completed it, and achievements were not exciting enough to continue to relearn the lessons. Would not recommend. Not sure what age level this is targeted given the language and reading skills needed to answer the ?'s unassisted, but this is lame even by a 7 year olds standards. A simpler, less graphic heavy & more engaging game, with more levels would be more effective than the current incarnation..Version: 1.2.1

Not up to parI had either this game or one similar years ago. I purchased this to work with students who struggle with regulation. They were disappointed that they could basically just run in circles. Once they got to the “Stop, Opt, Go” I thought there would be more things for them to do. This game is similar to 2 Zones of Regulation lessons. I was hoping for more..Version: 1.4.0

Only 2 playersPlease update to be able to add players (up to 20 or 30)? Otherwise good motivator for zones.Version: 1.2.1

DisappointedNot worth the extreme money charged. Lasted 10mins and game complete. I don’t mind paying good prices for quality apps but considering the quick completion I don’t feel the quality matched the price. Proceed with caution..Version: 1.3.6

Don’t waste your moneyThis application is earful.Version: 1.3.5
