The Zones of Regulation for Positive User Reviews

Glad to have itFor perspective, I am a special educator (SLPA) and mom to a child on the spectrum. This is not Minecraft or Angry Birds, so it's probably not fair to expect it to be an app kids will gravitate to on their own, although they might if they haven't been sucked in to the app video game world yet. That's ok- I see it as a therapy tool to be used, adult and child together, or with close supervision. (I do agree with another reviewer's request for audio narration- this could be useful for setting up a station where one student could be working on this app to enhance what was previously learned while the therapist is working one on one with another student.) I think this is a super resource to pull out and revisit with students who need help identifying and managing their emotions. I use it with my own son from time to time- the new content is very useful-kids can practice which emotions match up with blue, green, yellow or red zones, as well as practice breathing strategies for calming down. There is also a new section, the "picture studio", where the child can add photos of their own demonstrating different emotions. (there is a bug on my iPad mini running an older iOS version so maybe others will be fine, but I can't use the "take photos" option (it crashes) so the child has to take the picture outside of the app and then use the photo library option instead. Five stars if not for the two caveats mentioned. Definitely a great resource to have at its current price of $6!.Version: 1.3.1

Great Teaching ToolI work with students in Grade 4-6 who have behaviour and self-regulation difficulties for a variety of reasons. We have been using the Zones in a variety of ways. This app is a great way to reinforce the language and strategies that are taught throughout. As we work in a group I project the iPad onto our SmartBoard. We have only worked through the first level so far but all the students were engaged and focused! Because it is so reasonably priced I will purchase the Mac app as well. Thanks so much for a great product..Version: 1.0

A Must-Have app - FABULOUS ResourceThis app is such a fabulous resource to supplement the concepts in the Zones of Regulation curriculum! I started using it the 1st day it was released with several social skill groups in my elementary school setting. I have a quite "spirited" group of six 2nd and 3rd grade students, some of them on the autism spectrum, others with emotional/behavioral needs. They have been excited to come to social skills group every day this week to see what comes next in this invaluable app! Learning activties are interwoven throughout game components where users can earn coins, achievements, unlock mini-games, and more. I would HIGHLY recommend this app for educators working on social/emotional/behavioral skills of all ages - elementary-middle & high school. This would be a wonderful resource for parents to use at home as well to reinforce skills their children learn in social skills groups or therapy. Wonderful!.Version: 1.0

Super Great Game!!!The Zones of Regulation is a fantastic learning tool for the kids I work with. I use the book as well but this app is a nice change of pace while still being able to reinforce the lessons learned. The kids really enjoy the app, especially the “Stop, Opt and Go” mini game. Excellent buy and I look forward to whatever the developers have in store for the app’s future..Version: 1.2.1

Wow!First I'd have to say the graphics and music are very fun and kid friendly. Every child that has played this game so far has really been enjoying it, and I think the above are two reasons why. From an educational standpoint the app explores several areas of emotions and how to regulate emotions and I believe this is a great tool for parents and teachers to use with their children. A note to the developer: please consider adding in something for the "Match the Face" mini game that tells the player they got the answer wrong, and show them the correct answer or something. I've found this to be the only real complaint with some kids showing mild frustration. This aside, thank you for such a great app! 5 stars!.Version: 1.2.1

Awesome App!As a school psychologist my district has been using Zones of Regulation with students on the autism spectrum, but any child with difficulty in emotional regulation will benefit from this app. Kids love Internet games and and this app teaches through a whole lot of fun and adventure play. It's definitely a 5 star app with a 5 star teaching method!.Version: 1.0

Zones needs Audio WordsLove the app, yet my dyslexic 9 year old still can't read, and he is frustrated that he is unable to use (READ) the app by himself. Please consider adding audio for ALL in game instructions, rewards, etc! Thank you..Version: 1.1

Awesome tool!I am a Speech-Language pathologist, and I purchased this tool to help me support several elementary aged students on my campus with social skills and self regulation. Students with social cognitive impairments often can't regulate themselves and don't identify their own feelings, which is a crucial piece of social interaction. This game provides a fun 1:1 way to teach those underlying core skills to students in a way that they can understand and relate to... It is also much easier to get them to engage in talking about feelings which preteens and teens just "love" talking about. So far it has been a hit, and the pacing is good. Students cannot make progress in the game without engaging in activities, but they are motivated to do well with rewards for their character. The game has a small resemblance to "mine craft", so that is also really motivating. Awesome game!!!.Version: 1.2.1

KNEW ITI KNEW THIS GAME WAS REAL AND NOT A FEVER DREAM I KNEW ITTTTTTTTT now to find "if"....Version: 1.5.2

Great workWow best game ever do recommend love this so much.Version: 1.4.0

Engaging! This is a very nice way to work with the content in the Zones of Regulation curriculum, and complement the activities in the book. I piloted with a group of rather disreguated kids and they were very engaged. Nice graphics and a game-based interface will help kids work through the concept of zones, associated feelings, triggers and tools to help get you to the "green zone.".Version: 1.0

Perfect! This is a fantastic game for all people; not just people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Psychologists, MFTs, social workers, behaviorists, parents, teachers and more can benefit from utilizing and recommending this game!.Version: 1.0

Excellent Way to Reinforce Zones concepts! As a school-based Occupational Therapist, I am thrilled to have this app to help my students learn and reinforce concepts from the Zones of Regulation. I heard this app was coming, and have been eagerly waiting its release. I purchased it right away -- and it is a great app! The graphics are outstanding, the characters are likable and the flow of the game is smooth and fun for kids. I will definitely recommend this to parents for additional support outside of school. Thank you for developing such useful and fun app. It gives me good thoughts! ;-).Version: 1.0

So coolStudents love this app! It is engaging, and motivates exploration of emotional regulation concepts. Worth the money. We need more apps of this quality for students with social cognition and self regulation challenges. I have had a small issue with locking up, and received great (and immediate) support from designer!.Version: 1.1

Fabulous gameMy children aged 6 and 5 love this game and have sustained their interest for months. It explains about different zones for different emotions, what triggers them and how to get back to green. It is fun, the background music is relaxing and the extra games are good. Definitely worth the money..Version: 1.3.1

In a world of funIt gives me something to do and I love the avatars.Version: 1.5.2

Great contentA great content, fab. Material. And the kids enjoy it very much, the only thing I would live to see in the next update is the VoiceOver, this would make the app rocks...Version: 1.1

Zones of regulationIn this app^ I can’t get past stop, opt, and go level. Can someone tell me how to do the rest?.Version: 1.3.5

LLIt's a fun game but it needs a new update of more things to buy and more tools to have in your tool box and more mini games..Version: 1.2.2

This is excellent! This is a great app for children and teenagers, knowing what to do when they are in specific zones. I think the developers should add more faces and emotions in the Match the Face game because the same things occur over and over and it can be boring, but other than that, this is a great app..Version: 1.3.6

Great Way to Learn the ZonesIt's a nice addition to anyone familiar with the Zones of Regulation curriculum. It's engaging and I like that once you get some tools in your "toolbox" you can look back at them as a reminder. So far my students like it and are learning skills in a fun way. Hopefully more content can be added in updates and options for students to apply more "tool-based" problem-solving..Version: 1.0

Most awesomeWe only wish there were more levels to continue the fun and learning..Version: 1.2.1

Sweet AppThis is an awesome medium to learn about self-regulation. The kids are easily grasping the Zones concept and motivated to keep playing/learning to learn about their tools and triggers. Huge thumbs up..Version: 1.0

My kids want to play it on their own!I have been using this app both with my clients as well as with my own children. It is really engaging and even my own typical developing kids want play it on on their own. I have loved the discussions it has prompted and how it has held the attention of some very challenging clients. They want to continue exploring and playing the games. It has been fun too to play with small groups. I would recommend for therapists, as well as every parent to teach social and emotional regulation skills..Version: 1.1

IncredibleI was anticipating this app for a while. My son loves playing it and the content is very valuable. While he is on the autism spectrum he has no problem progressing through the app. I love the art style, the music, theme etc. Very kid-appealing and definitely worth the price. What I would like to see are more instances relating to social situations. Perhaps in a future update, but great app as it stands. Thanks for such a useful app..Version: 1.0

Excellent! This is an excellent tool for teaching the Zones concepts and integrating them. Well done!.Version: 1.3.1

Great way to help your kids continue to learn about regulation!I have been using the Zones of Regulation curriculum for a year with my kids with sensory, attentional, and emotional regulation challenges and it has worked wonders. These kids have loved having a new and fun way to incorporate learning about the Zones into their life. It has been great for me to see how much they have learned as they walk into each of the zones and answer questions. Earning coins also really helps to keep them motivated. I would highly recommend this app!.Version: 1.1
