NewsBar RSS reader for Positive User Reviews

Good starting pointBeen waiting for the iOS version for a while and glad it's finally here. Hoping for keyword push notification to be implemented in a future update..Version: 1.01

Fantastic App!!!Great app, syncs seamlessly through iCloud with Mac version. Well worth the price..Version: 1.32

Top news readerSmooth sync across all devices great app well worth the money I've tried loads but best news reader by far..Version: 1.32

NewsBarI've been using for several months & does the job well in my iMac, MBA, iPad & iPhone. I like it a lot!.Version: 1.32

The best news app RSS feedThis app is very very well designed, and I am a bit picky when it comes to apps. Very intuitive and great features and clean layout that makes it easy and pleasurable to scroll through the news. Wonderful job ladies and gents..Version: 1.32

Excellent!!!! Well done DevelopersI have been looking for something like this for years. I travel a bit and wanted the facility to catch up with my reading of RSS feeds on iPhone, iPad and be able to sync this across my mac devices. This programme installed quickly easy to use and excellent all round..Version: 1.4.1

Highly recommendedI use this app and it's worth five stars. I have all my feeds synced so I can access then everywhere. I simply star and read later. The Mac interface is very good. Highly recommended..Version: 1.4.1

Exactly what I wantedA few months ago Google announced it would shutdown Reader, and it sent shock waves through the tech community as people wondered how they would be able to get synced RSS feeds across their devices. One of the first thoughts I had was, "why can't someone make an app that syncs using iCloud? That would be the perfect solution - no monthly fees and total privacy". Many tech pundits said it couldn't be done because iCloud couldn't handle it. Well I guess they were wrong because Andras did it! And it works perfectly. I have Newsbar installed on my mac, iPhone and now my iPad and all 3 are in perfect sync using iCloud. The app is well designed and fast and the use of gestures to navigate is brilliant. I wish I had found out about this app before I signed up for other services which I've paid for, because I've not been using them since Newsbar - it has become my main RSS feed reader, with the others gathering dust. Yes there are a few features it still needs like sharing to app.net and Instapaper, and I would love the option to see image thumbnail in the articles list - but those are on the agenda and will come with time. This is a really, really good app and so cheap you can easily afford to buy one for all your Apple devices..Version: 1.2

ICloud syncs perfectlyThe interface is intuitive and iCloud sync works great. You just open the app and its done. Perhaps not worth another 4 dollars being as we paid for the Mac app already..Version: 1.1

Brilliant!Works perfectly on my 2 Macs (home and office), iPhone and iPad! Could not not ask for anything better..Version: 1.32

Best rss app I've foundI love this app. Great app on the iPhone and I love that there is a companion app on my MacBook. The syncing both apps together is a great feature..Version: 1.32

Great RSS!I had been an NewsBar (Mac App) user for a while and love it. But then, I wanted to have all my content on my iPhone too while on the go. This apps are the best RSS clients ever. No ads, no accounts, it's so much better than those other ones. iCloud sync some what works and it could be enhanced and improved for live sync, iCloud sync it's the my only concern, everything else is perfect! So "Five Stars" for this App....Version: 1.32

Simply the best!!Updating my review: This is my fav Mac RSS app. Simple sidebar. But with this update, iPhone and iPad now have dark mode and work properly. It syncs with my Mac. The keyword setup is the best I’ve seen. One small suggestion: Please allow it to have multitasking in iOS (ie, shrink so I can place a second app on the screen). This would allow me to use Safari easily instead of the built in app. Currently, using safari as your reader takes you completely out of the app..Version: 1.70

Works, needs a couple of extra features. This seems to be the only RSS reader that can sync between devices using iCloud, rather than requiring the user to pay for a third party sync service. The sync works, but it feels laggy at times. Switching quickly between iPad / iPhone can result in read items on one showing up as unread on the other. The app would benefit from a visual indicator to show when sync is happening. A dark / night mode theme would be a welcome addition as all the bright white can get retina-searing on a big screen. There seems to be a bug in the current version with the built in webview - opening an article's webpage, causes previously read items to be reinserted into the feed, after the item you've just read, when returning to article list view..Version: 1.4.8

Great First VersionOverall I'm very pleased with Newsbar as a Google Reader/Reeder replacement. I really miss the Readability and Pocket/Instagram/Evernote integration. Please consider it for the next version along with an iPad version..Version: 1.1

Great RSS app!!!This app is a pleasure to use and the devs are very responsive and helpful. I love the ability to set keywords and alerts as well as the ability to fine-tune the refresh rate, text color, background color and more, for each feed individually. There are many options to adjust the appearance. And the design makes reading my feeds easier and faster..Version: 1.1

Good companion to OSX appSynchronises feeds & read news items with OSX app , over iCloud. News feed works well. Happy with the app.Version: 1.1

A good Google Reader replacementI downloaded both the Mac and iPhone apps and so far so good. Seems to be very responsive and keeps my feeds in sync. One thing to note is that if you want to authenticate to your Google Reader account, I don't think you can do that in the iOS app. It worked perfectly in the Mac app though and even pulled over all my favorited articles. And then as soon as I went to the iPhone app, they were all there do to the magic of iCloud. I've been a long time Reeder user and the different UI will take a bit of getting used to on the iPhone and Mac sides, but so far it seems to be a very capable replacement. And since it uses iCloud there's no worry about another third party deciding to pull support for their syncing server..Version: 1.1

Does what is supposed to doGot it on multiple devices and it works well..Version: 1.4.1

Nice reader for those willing to waitI wanted a news reader that would sync feeds and read/unread status between iPhone, iPad and Mac using just an iCloud account. No 3rd parties in the loop this time. This app does that and has a nice user interface, especially so on the iPad and iPhone, but the sync is so sloooowwww..Version: 1.2

Does what it says, very wellIt is a good traditional feed reader: it's not trying to be a newspaper or something, it just does what you actually need. iCloud sync works between the iOS version and the OSX one: you do not need another account (this is a significant win). OPML export/import works for both iOS and OSX versions so you are not tied in. It's really fine. I am glad that it's still maintained..Version: 1.5.0

MagicThis is great! I wanted something where I could get ONLY the news I wanted without outrageous, boring or completely irrelevant "tweets". I also don't get harassed by people wanting to "follow" me. It seamlessly synced with my iMac when I down-loaded it, and I was over 100 miles away, with my Mac switched off, at the time. Cannot recommend this app. highly enough. Sir Giffs..Version: 1.2.1

Best Way To Keep CurrentI bought the desktop app a while ago and have been eagerly awaiting the release of the iPad app. So far i love it. It has an intuitive, easy to use, clean looking interface. The cloud sync and app design makes it worth the money for me..Version: 1.2

GoodThe best from a couple of others I tried. Only two issues: - Sometimes crashes when entering into or exiting from settings. - The lack of gesture to mark the news as "read" right from news list, not opening it..Version: 1.4

Smooth appLove that it syncs the list with osx over iCloud.. i just wish it would sync which articles were read already. so i don't have to see them again. maybe next version!.Version: 1.02

Intuitive & reliableGreat app, really intuitive, does exactly what you'd expect and want..Version: 1.2.1

Everything Covered! Finally a RSS reader that has everything I need; solid feed reader, keyword filter, background refresh and notifications! Excellent app to tell me when new items arrive that meets my criteria. Well done! Would love next version to have ability to change the sound in notification centre, to make new items even more obvious. Thanks..Version: 1.32

Good, but wanted moreThe app runs great, but I wanted to run feeds through kijiji, which it isn't capable of doing, but many other apps are..Version: 1.32

Most used app on my phoneDoes everything right and love the icloud syncing.Version: 1.2.1

Great for freedom from third party aggregators… UI needs a tweakThe primary issue I have that prevents me from awarding 5 stars is that when you are reading an article and scrolling it, you (I) naturally want to move the content near the top of the screen and with NewsBar, it jumps to the next article the moment the last bit of content appears at the bottom of the preview screen. You simply can't scroll the last bit of content to the top of the window. This makes no sense to me. I can think of no use case where someone is going to read every single article in their feed one after the other (in reverse historical order no less). People scroll not to move on to the next article, they scroll to see more of the article they are reading at a place that is comfortable for their eyes. Even when I scroll back to the article I was trying to read, 8 times out of 10, I still try to scroll it and end up skipping to the next article AGAIN. It's very frustrating. I bought this and the desktop app purely and only for the iCloud sync feature. I need a way to keep my rss feeds the same on mac and iOS, as well as mark as read the same on both. The GUI is not so great, and the syncing can lag a little at times, but because it does sync without requiring some aggregation service, it's a winner for me..Version: 1.4.6

Love this appSo useful, I can keep on top of everything and stay ahead of the game.Version: 1.4.1

StraightforwardExcellent App that works well on the iPhone as well as the Desktop. My favourite, as it syncs well over iCloud and you don't have to use an intermediate system..Version: 1.32

Love it... All platformsGreat app. I love that I can now have it on all devices nicely sync'd..Version: 1.2.1

Good, but one irritating bugVery good, nicely syncs between the OS X version and iOS. The "swipe from left to go back" feature in ios7 is present, but doesn't work so well. At the moment, the slightest left movement on that side of the screen causes it to go back, making it very difficult and frustrating to move around a web page 😥.Version: 1.32

My fav reader, found fix for LTEICloud sync works like a charm without any registration or login, ios interface fast, simple and clean, good for everyday use. Has keywords! On LTE network, if data connection fails, Reset network settings will fix the problem: Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings.Version: 1.2.1

Good readerNo clear and easy way to mark articles as read when looking at list of unread articles. Good reader though and syncs well with my MBP and iPad..Version: 1.2.1

Great App, Small BugThis is a fantastic app! I highly recommend it. Just seeing a small bug - quite a few crashes after the last update when tapping to open the full article..Version: 1.32

Simple. Clean. Effective.Use on Mac, tablet and phone. Still miss Google Reader, but this is an arguably more human approach..Version: 1.32

ICould sync not workingAfter installing the latest update, I have no news feed and I looks like it doesn't sync at all with icloud..Version: 1.30

Starts My DayThis is a great app! It's the first app I look at in the morning. I love the iCloud syncing feature..Version: 1.2.1

Excellent appMy no1. News reader of choice.Version: 1.4

Super clean / intuitiveI love the way it syncs with the Mac version and it looks clean on iPhone / iPad / Mac... Definitely streamlining how I find my news..Version: 1.32

Because iCloud integrationThe iCloud integration is the strong point of NewsBar. I use Mac, iPhone, and iPad. After Google Reader went away, NewsBar was (and is) the right answer for me because it lets me sync the newsfeeds on my devices using a service I already have..Version: 1.32

Very nice rssFor a new rss reader this is a highly polished app. Do not hesitate on the price it is worth your money. I love how it syncs with the Mac version and it feels seamless..Version: 1.02

Great especially on mac and iPadI have this software on my mac as well it works so well together. Simple to operate I love it..Version: 1.31

Nice transition from Google ReaderLike others i needed find replacement for google reader and settled on newsbar. I picked up both mac and ios versions and icloud sync works well. I find myself using ios version as i like to see sites in list form. Response of the app is very good and gestures work as they should. Gave app 4 stars for two reasons. First is i find myself having to kill the app from time to time and relaunching to see which sites have unread articles. Second is no way to reorder which is frustrating when adding a new site and things are not sorted alphabetically. Making the adjustment on mac app and syncing back is my work around. Would like to see in future update the ability to determine how often feeds are refreshed even if its at expense of battery life..Version: 1.1

ExcellentDoes what it says..Version: 1.31

Good, but...I absolutely love this RSS reader but, for me, the lack of Pocket support forces me to withhold the 5 star rating. I’m sure they will add it with an update soon. Then I will revise my review..Version: 1.32

Syncs well, nice designI use this with my phone, iPad and computer, and love it!.Version: 1.4

Great appI use this app everyday to get streaming RSS feeds on market news involving domestic and international activities. Well designed for iPhone and iPad. I only recommend one thing, the iPad version should have dual column RSS feeds as an option - sort of like tweet deck..Version: 1.2

Great companion for news bar for MacWorks seamlessly with the desktop version..Version: 1.31

Nice!Love the clean interface and iCloud sync. Makes managing feeds effortless..Version: 1.1
