✓ Rubbish on iOSMaybe I’m missing something, maybe I’m playing it wrong, or maybe this game needed more tweaks before being ported to iOS. The game is challenging and difficult at the best of times, but it’s made nearly impossible by the lack of actual controls. You randomly tap the screen to grab stuff, push stuff, pull the stuff, or jump; and you never know which one you’re going to get! Need to push something and then jump on it before getting sawed in half? Ha! Better luck next time. Honestly, a virtual “action” button would have fixed this issue. ✓ Doesn't work on iPod 5.After waiting a few days for this to download ( I have terrible Internet) I was actually kind of excited when it had finished, so anyway I opened it, said loading, excitement was building, screen went black and it closed. Anyway, I thought it might have been a one off so I kept persisting, wifi on, wifi off, Bluetooth on, Bluetooth off, and no matter what I tried it wouldn't work. I can understand if it was an old app or something but no. It even says "compatible with iPod 5 or later" which I unfortunately believed. ✓ Needlessly FrustratingNo tutorial; no help; nothing. The controls are so unintuitive that the first puzzle of moving a mine cart backwards is ‘throw your iPad across the room’ frustrating. And that’s nothing, wait until you have to move bear traps. For whatever reason the developers think it’s fun for you to be decapitated over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again while trying to determine how on earth the controls works. More often than not, actually I would ballpark it at 99.99999%, you walk forward into the trap vs. grabbing it. Awesome fun! When you do actually move the trap it feels like you got lucky vs. ‘Oh, that’s how you do it’ because when you have to do it again, guess what? You get decapitated over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again until you luck out and grab it. The developers are sadistic. ✓ Interesting and nicely designed but ...The controls were far too hard to use, most of my failures came from not knowing what to do, but because the controls didn’t respond as they should have (eg when pushing traps I would often get caught in them). ✓ OverratedWanted to love this game, but ended up deleting after about an hour of gameplay (before completion - no idea how long the game is). Here’s the deal: it’s gorgeous scenery and great concept, but really bad implementation. The puzzles are hard to solve without any clues or hints. It harkens back to Zack & Wiki model of try-and-die where you have to guess your way through these obstacles, jumps, pushing or pulling items you can’t even see, or else die trying and redo the whole thing over again. The controls could be fine, but lagginess means that you may or may not make that perfectly timed jump to move on. Further making things difficult are the random spikes and traps to kill you for no good reason. It’s pretty ruthless and not fun. That’s coming from a guy who loves puzzle and adventure games. Limbo is a huge miss for me. Totally overrated. Stick with Where’s my Water, King Rabbit or Plants vs Zombies..Version: 1.1.19

✓ Not worth itI got the game, because I saw other people play it, and it looked amazing. The atmosphere and general feel is amazing, but controls, and one part of the game, isn’t. At the start of the game, it takes years to get used to the controls, which half of the time don’t even work. They’re also incredibly unforgiving. There’s a part of the game that I’m up to, it’s the 19th part of the game. When the room starts flooding, I can get to the ladders, but I can’t jump off of them and onto the pipe. I can climb onto the pipe, but the worm makes me turn back, and I jump into the water. This makes that part impassable, and I can’t play the rest of the game. This may have something to do with the controls, or something else, but I literally can’t get past it. I’m not sure if it’s me, or something else. Overall, though, not worth my money..Version: 1.1.19

✓ Good game, bad controlsI really like the game but it is super annoying to play on the iPad. If I could go back in time I would have instead bought it on steam to play on my laptop. It is really really annoying when you are trying to do a fiddly bit and the controls just stop working. It happens all the time. I am using iPad Pro 12inches. ✓ Good puzzles but control very frustratingI would give 5 stars if I wasn't constantly fighting with the control system. Getting him to grab things, let go, jump, etc. when you want is very difficult and frustrating. Means you can easily solve how to do a puzzle but be stuck retrying it for ages because you can't get him to do what you want correctly. Spoiling it big time for me. Have had to quit it several times in frustration at this. In the 2nd half of the game I am getting very frequent freezing up for 20 to 30s at a time on iPad mini even after closing all other apps. ✓ Limbo is lameAfter playing (and completing) INSIDE I was stoked to check out this earlier title, but about 25% of the way through got annoyed at how technically difficult one of the challenges was and after about 50 attempts gave up. INSIDE is more about using your mind to solve the problem, whereas LIMBO is about mastering ultra-precise feather-touches on the iPhone controls. Just isn’t the same kinda fun. ✓ Don’t buy for iPhone!!Downloaded this after playing Inside - which is great on iPhone. Limbo is beautiful, eerie and intriguing. But it’s really bad on an iPhone. As you get further into the game, you can’t make the character respond quickly or accurately enough with the touch screen. Won’t work with arrows on a Bluetooth keyboard either. I ended up deleting this app angry and frustrated after a week of killing the kid trying to make the same jump and having to go back to the start of a sequence only to kill him again in the exact same place because you can’t get him to make the jump in time. There are no cheats to skip ahead. Lovely game for a different device but deducting stars for this reason. Highly recommend Inside though..Version: 1.1.22

I didn't enjoy being in a world that delights in killing children so horrifically, with such a grim atmosphere and landscape. I like gothic things but for me this had no beauty, no delight. The controls were difficult (and as others have said) unforgiving, the gameplay frustrating, for me unintuitive and unsatisfying. ✓ LIMBOIm on the 4th level. Works fine on iphone 4S. The game looks great, very creepy. The swipe controls are a bit awkward, the tasks seem to demand more precision than the controls are made for. ✓ Bear trap spiderSure the game is visually awesome but trying to kill the spider with the bear trap is crazily tedious. I know exactly what needs to be done but the execution of controls for the game is poor. Instead of slowly walking into the bear trap and leaning down. ✓ Great game but spotty iPad controlI’ve completed Inside several times in both the original and the alternate endings on my iPad Pro and was quite pleased with the touchscreen response. I just found Limbo and started playing. I’m almost at the end and my complaint is with the controls. Considering the limited number of controls to move the figure and interact with objects, I find the controls very inconsistent throughout the game. Tapping and sliding often do nothing or make the figure do opposite of what I’m doing. I’ve quit playing several times through control frustration. ✓ FrustratedI would love to give this game more stars because up until now I’ve loved everything about. The graphics are stunning and the creepy ambience is excellent. On the whole moving the character is easy enough BUT I find that when you have to crouch and pull an object towards you, it is very hit and miss, mostly miss, whether it works. ✓ Great game, horrible controlsEchoing the previous reviews that gripe about the controls - I'm on an iPhone 6s+, and there are many time sensitive and accuracy puzzles where I knew exactly what I needed to do, but had to retry dozens of times to get through because of the terrible interface. This is not challenging and fun as you develop hand-eye coordination, it's frustrating and dumb when the little guy gets stuck or stops running because the touch screen won't respond to small finger movements. And often if you have to switch directions you can't even see the kid until you lift your finger and reposition it. Replace the stupid touch-and-drag with left / right / jump buttons and this would be way more fun..Version: 1.1.15

✓ Extremely challenging - too muchI played Playdead’s INSIDE which I found very challenging but in a good way - was able to beat it without any walkthroughs and the puzzles were tough but fair. LIMBO is weirdly difficult and not intuitive right from the start, and while I love the graphics, I’ve downloaded and deleted the game several times out of frustration with the extremely touchy controls (jumping is half of the way to survive the game and it only works half the time) and non-intuitive puzzles. I’d love a follow up to INSIDE, and wish this game scratched that itch..Version: 1.1.19

✓ Make the controls fairerThe point of the game is to work out clever puzzles, not to master clever dexterity swipes. The 5 stars I’d give the concept and the graphics are balanced out with the 1 star I’d give its usability and experience... Even on the fourth chapter, it’s taken over 20 attempts to ‘grab’ the bear trap. And if I am being honest, I don’t know how I’m doing it in order that I can replicate the swipe next time.
