Clue Period Tracker & Calendar for Negative User Reviews

New update made it much worseNew layout is not user friendly, why make colour of the period days the same as the pill? Makes it visually confusing. Not easy to track anything as well, you have to go through a two step process rather than a one touch like before. Please bring the old layout back!.Version: 101.7

Was great, now now better than a manual diaryI loved this app, it was easy to use and gave helpful basic info under the free version and I used it for years without issue. It used to show me basic analysis like average cycle length and variation, that has gone following the upgrade. Saving things seems more long winded than before, you have to click “save”. It also used to show when you clicked on a day you’d saved data for what cycle day that was rather than the date, which was really useful. I actually sent a help request last YEAR to query the lost analysis with the reply “it will come back after the upgrade”, the “upgrade” seems endless (I think I’ve been missing standard features for almost 5 months…) so I doubt it’s coming back despite all the comments saying “it’s being rolled out”, or maybe it will be a “premium” feature? Comments are all similar recently, no-one seems to be enjoying this app or rating it highly since the “upgrade” started. Do not recommend anymore..Version: 105.0

So Upset!!!I’m so sad this app used to be perfect, why did you change it!! I agree with all the recent reviews, and i’m so mad about not being able to use it offline, so so stupid. the old design looked like it was made on a cloud, so bright uplifting, now it’s so sad and clanky to use. if you wanted to add more features, add them, but don’t “fix” what’s not broken. people used your app over others for a reason, now this has made me look into seeing if there’s better options. I appreciate that you’re hearing out the reviews, but turn it back fast!.Version: 113.0

Disappointed with loss if featuresMy GP and I are worried I have endo, so I’ve been using the analysis page for a few years to keep track of symptoms. With the new redesign it’s basically useless as the only information I can see is my cycle length. I now have to go to the calendar page and tap on every individual square and look through each menu to see what I recorded, as there is no longer any preview on the calendar either. The new UI is all very shiny and nice but the entire reason I use the app has been removed. The only reason I still use it is so I have the info stored somewhere, but now I have to copy it into an excel spreadsheet whenever I have the energy if I want to make any sense of it. I used to recommend this app a lot, and I’ve been hoping the previous functions would be returned soon, but that doesn’t appear to be happening. I’m just very disappointed..Version: 105.0

App struggles to load constantly FORCE CLOSESI have been a Clue user for over 3 years now and always loved it to the point that I joined as a plus member when it became available. I am happy that it is pretty much always spot on with my period predictions but for the past about 6 months it has had a lot of struggle loading. It used to be so bad to the point it wouldn’t load even after giving it multiple minutes. The issue has since gotten a bit better and some pages will load quicker while others (mainly cycle page) still take so much longer than necessary. I just feel like an app of this age and with this amount of quality in the product, should have the basics such as app programming down. I have made sure it’s not my phone or wifi, it’s the app that has problems loading. I am just pretty disappointed that my experience on the app seems to be getting worse rather than better. I hope this issue is fixed and then I’d be happy to provide 5 stars. UPDATE: Now the app is force closing itself out after about 30 seconds (and yes it is on the latest version). As you can see below, they suggested I try reporting the issue to them via the app but I can’t do that when it force closes before I can submit it.... It just keeps getting worse and it’s HIGHLY disappointing. Definite one star and am heavily considering cancelling my subscription and moving on to a new app at this point to be honest..Version: 20.0

New Update is AwfulI don’t know what the team at Clue was thinking with this new update. First of all, I’ve been using Clue for five years and loved that I didn’t need an account. But the new update forced everyone out of the app and required an account to view the years of data. My heart stopped when it forced me out, as I thought all my data was gone for good with zero warning. On top of that, they have made it MORE difficult to view previously tracked symptoms. In the old version, you could tap on a day and could quickly see at a glance what symptoms were tracked all together. Now you have to scroll through a ridiculous page of icons and click on each individual one to see what you tracked for that particular symptom. Why can’t we see the tracked symptoms all together in a simple list like before? Who thought this was a good idea? I’ve recommended this app to everyone in my life who needed a good period tracker. It’s been my absolute favorite. But this new update really, really dragged it down. For the love of all that is good, please bring back an “at a glance” menu of tracked symptoms when you tap on any past day. Don’t make us click on each individual icon to figure out what we tracked that day..Version: 101.2

Was Perfection - not anymoreHere’s my previous review: I've been using this app since 2015 and it's been great. I like that you can use as many or as few of the tracking options to suit me. I recommend it whole heartedly. I wish I'd had it while I was going through IVF. —- Rating this app is difficult for me because for many years I’ve found it brilliant. Slowly each update has taken away the simplicity and less is available of my own data to view. Today I went to have a quick historical look because of a conversation with my Doctor and discovered that unless I pay for an upgrade I can’t even access my own data outside of the current cycle. This seems unethical at least, but possibly illegal. At a minimum I should be able to see my own data on a calendar without any analysis. I’m really disappointed as I have supported and recommended this app to so many people over the years. I’m changing my review from 5 stars to 2 stars but really I’m not sure I should give any stars. It’s disappointing to be a user since 2015 but unable to access the data..Version: 146.0

Tracking changes are annoyingI don’t like the date chooser for the new tracking input page, it was easier when I could see a few days at a time along the top. Also it’s really annoying not being able to see what day number of the cycle you’re on from the calendar page..Version: 101.5

Not worth itUnless you want to spend even more money on your period not useful..Version: 4.3.0

Forcing to buy premium by each updateEdited review 14.1.2024: previously only bonus features were on premium version, but now even my own given data (cycle history and analysis) during past years is hidden and only accessible upon buying premium account. Such a shame. Previous review: Many much needed and helpful features are only available for premium upgrade which requires payment. As a woman using this application from Iran, it's not possible for me to pay for this upgrade. It's really such a shame, as those features could help women like me from third world (developing and countries with poor and inefficient health care system) to get educated and try take care of their body and mind wellbeing..Version: 147.0

New updateReally disappointed with the new app update. I miss being able to easily view each days details without opening up a full screen pop up, (even a long touch hold of the days details to quickly view a preview would be great). The pop up is also harder to intuitively understand and requires so many more clicks than before. If I have tracked details under ‘Pain’ for example I can’t see what kind of pain I tracked unless I click into it, opening another pop up, which I find very frustrating. I found the interface before much easier to use..Version: 101.7

Needs fixingI was recommended this app by a friend and have found it very useful in keeping track of things and in receiving information about why things happen during my period, however the app is riddled with inconsistencies in how it runs, just yesterday it was working fine and today i have spent 5 minutes looking at a blank screen and nothing has shown up, there are many times the app has just crashed on me or has had some kind of a glitch leaving it unable to be used, if these issues were fixed it would be an amazing app + UPDATE: it has been 5 days and i still am unable to use the app as nothing will load, this is not an internet problem as i have tried on other networks and still the same result.Version: 4.0.2

No longer usable as period trackerLike a few of the other reviews have said, the app relentlessly pushes for a subscription, and very very basic features that have been available for years are being consistently moved behind paywall. Have used it for years just for the most basic of features - I just want to be able to see my cycle history, visual summary of how long each cycle was. This used to be available on the free version but is now locked behind the paywall. I don’t feel justified having to pay the steep price for just this one feature - none of the other “features” offered in the premium version are useful to me and I have never used them. Similar to what other reviews have said, the basic version should still do what the Notes app can do. Many of us used to use Clue for *only* tracking periods and do not need the fancy features, and we shouldn’t have to pay for ALL of that when we are not going to use it. There should at least be tiers to the subscription. At this time I would rather move away from the app and am not at all incentivised to subscribe..Version: 146.0

Still not intuitive/easy to use anymoreUsed to be so easy to use, color coding was clear and adding info for multiple days was simple and intuitive. It even seemed to take my minipills into account in its wording terms of the cycle, now it’s just saying my period is always ”late” when actually it’s finally settled into a very long cycle. Even after so much time has passed since the update has been rolled out, it’s not intuitive or easy to use, you need to put back the easy switching between days and make it as easy to input data for multiple days as it used to be. Also the birthcontrol colour should not be such a similar colour as the period tracker! It’s really not inclusive like this. So for these reasons I’m going to need to find a new app that hopefully hasn’t ruined itself for no reason. I didn’t mind paying for a subscription. Gutted as there didn’t seem to be anything wrong with the old desing. It seems now it’s maybe aimed more for people wanting to get pregnant and who’d use it every day, rather than people who use birth control. I don’t always remember to log things every day and it’s a pain to update afterwards. Such a shame.. why’d you have to ruin it and why have these things that so many people have had issues still not been fixed?.Version: 145.0

Used to be greatThe data tracking on this app was great for helping me see patterns in my cycle for years. When it was time for my husband and I to start trying for a family it was pretty good at predicting my fertile window. (I confirmed ovulation with LH test strips.) All that said, I wish this app had more to offer a post partum person. I have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the promised updates, but they’re not here and it’s gotten to the point where the period of usefulness for the post partum features I so enjoyed with my first child are now almost irrelevant as my 2nd child approaches 5months of age. Which is fine, if all you consider it to be is a period tracker, and not a women’s health app. I paid for the premium subscription because I loved the post partum features with the first. This week I cancelled my subscription because I got tired of waiting for Clue to catch back up. UPDATE: the postpartum tracking IS what I was talking about in my above review. This app used to be great, for a very significant portion of a woman’s life, but it simply falls short now. There are plenty of other places I can go to find data backed articles to read, if that was what I wanted. I haven’t been able to find another app that offers the high quality tracking features that I grew accustomed to with previous versions of Clue premium..Version: 132.0

UNSAFE FOR USE - DELETEDelete clue (it’s functionality is now terminally bad) and download Drip, an open source and privacy focused app. Your data will only stay on your device (used to be true of clue but no longer, now you can’t track unless connected to the internet) and you can upload data from clue. Protect your privacy and don’t use this app..Version: 101.7

It functions well, but the premium seems exploitative.I switched from flo to clue, however I’ve used clue in the past years ago. The reason I made the switch is because the flo premium ads have gotten ridiculously in your face, and honestly I found it exploitative to be charging people for information that should be free, and IS free on nearly every medical website, especially at such a steep price. I see that clue has started doing the same thing which is disappointing, again it just seems exploitative. I do however appreciate that they don’t constantly shove it in your face and make it hard to use the app. If I remember correctly the clue premium price is more affordable, but charging 40 dollars for information you took from a free medical website, when women struggle with accessible sex education regarding women’s anatomy is pretty despicable still. It’s like putting “how to preform cpr” under a paywall. I would understand putting blog posts or some journalism on women’s health and feminism under a paywall, but charging people for free medical information is not okay. Overall, less invasive ads than flo and it’s function as a period tracker is good, charging people for free information about women’s health, especially considering the current climate of women’s health, irks me..Version: 47.0

DissapointingI've been using Clue for years and it's been spot on in predicting my period dates and I've used to to help me get pregnant with success. However since my last baby something had changed drastically, my cycle length is around 34 days but every cycle in the app is 27 days and doesn't seem to be changing. What's particularity disappointing about this is that I'm trying to get pregnant again and the fertility days are way off, I've ended up buying an ovulation test kit instead. Maybe the app only works properly now if you subscribe? I preferred it when it was fuss free and accurate..Version: 113.0

They now prioritize money rather than accessibilityI've been using this app for years and it used to be really good. all my friends and people i know also used this app because it was easy to use and had a lot of features that helped us track our menstrual cycles. but more recently, about the last 2-3yrs, the app has become more about subscription and having everything being behind a paywall. while i'm thankful that all users have their privacy protected, that should be a given and not a baseline of what classifies an app, or business, as good. there are constant pop up ads every single time you go into the app or whenever you try to track something. you can no longer properly view details about your cycle and the patterns either. it has become progressively harder to view your previous cycles and see details that were available before. and i understand having in depth educational information behind a paywall, but this app is a cycle tracking app and the fact that this app has regressed so much with accessibility which was something it was known for, to the point of being barely able to view information you once put in is really weird. it's an okay app but if you don't have a lot of money to pay to view most of the app, or do not like constant pop up ads, don't get it. it's alright for the basic functionality but other than that, you might be able to find better options to track your cycle..Version: 158.0

No prior warning that data would be paywalledAs many others have said recently, I’ve used this app for several years, and was immensely disappointed to find that years of my personal health data is now behind a paywall. Whilst I understand the need to fund the app, I used the bare minimum of functions (period start/end tracking) and the value to me was in the years of data, not the fancier functions. I don’t want to pay a subscription to access all the other “medical education” content or detailed analysis. I just want my cycle data (particularly the year I was pregnant, as I had likely date of conception recorded). There appeared to be no warning that the app would become essentially unusable and no offer to choose to retain data (e.g. at a one off cost). I may end up having to subscribe to try and get my data off here somehow, but I won’t maintain a subscription after that. I’ve probably been served a lesson in market forces. naivety and data protection, but this app holds data with a strong emotional connection to it’s users, so it is sad the developers have chosen this route..Version: 152.0

THEY ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY AND DATAThis app keeps getting worse and worse as the years go on. They keep taking away features in hopes that you will purchase their “plus” addition to get those features back. They even took away the fertile window period on the calendar- like this free edition literally has no features left!! What a joke..Version: 22.0

Oh neat, y'all are making the transition from serving your customers to selling themI don't need to list all the ways the latest update was awful and threw UX out the window, because there's a litany of negative reviews below mine that do just that. But I'm definitely not going to stick around and feed my sensitive health data to a company that secretly opted me in to selling it. Not in this post Roe v Wade world. And especially not when the update made it so entering and reviewing that data takes 3x as many taps as before, while taking away the aggregation that made that data useful. Thanks for making it super clear that we are no longer your customers but your product. Oh and thanks for holding my data hostage so I can't export it, nice. Now the companies you're selling my data to have more access to it than I do. Switching to Euki, goodbye. UPDATE: You know what I'm talking about, Clue. Your update turned ON the settings for—and this is verbatim from your app: "I agree that Clue may collect my usage data and use third-party services for: The purposes of advertising, such as tracking or retargeting." I never opted in or consented. I only found out about it from other reviewers here. That is unethical, and so is sweeping away my complaint when you know what I'm referring to. How much user trust do you intend to destroy before you accept that this update was a huge slap in the face?.Version: 101.7

Used to be goodThis app was great when I first started using it quite a few years ago,but it’s gone downhill with all the updates. It’s too busy now. All the pop ads asking me to subscribe are annoying. Plus it’s lost all my cycle history so the analysis tab doesn’t work anymore. Also, there’s so much focus on pregnancy, ovulation etc but no mention of peri menopause/ menopause..Version: 112.0

Great period tracker, but app performance subparI’ve been using Clue for a few years now and it’s been a very useful tool to help track my periods and the various phases of my cycle. I used to carry a little card-sized calendar in my wallet and a red pen to track my period. But a modern-day phone app with notifications and reminders, the ability to log other aspects of your cycle, and access to various articles to help understand your body has been an invaluable tool. However, the app has of late been slow to load and progressively been crashing a lot more, so I have had to look into other period tracking apps. Other than app performance, Clue has been great at doing what it was intended for, which is to track menstrual cycles and educate women on their bodies..Version: 20.0

OK to Track Cycle, Bad at PredictionsI’ve been using Clue for around a year now, ever since the Planned Parenthood period tracker stopped functioning after a few bad updates. Initially Clue was really good about predicting at least some of my more predictable cycle symptoms like cramps, but I’ve noticed that in the last few cycles it’s incapable of predicting anything. I know things like acne for me are really random, so I don’t expect predictions for that, but I have cramps and headaches pretty consistently in my cycle due to hormone fluctuations with the birth control I’m on. I, a human being, can see the patterns based on the data the app shows you from cycle to cycle, but Clue no longer predicts my cramps (always the first 1-3 days of my cycle, yet for some reason the computer won’t pick up that it’s a pattern) and refuses to track my headaches (frequently the last day of my old cycle and first few days of my new cycle because I have to remove my BC patch to have a period, so my hormone levels crash). I don’t know if it’s recently as bad at predicting for others as it is for me or if maybe there’s just something wrong with my app/account, but it’s annoying that the biggest draw to this particular period tracker, symptom predictions, won’t work..Version: 28.0

Update pros and consI have been using Clue for years now and the latest update has some good and bad points. Firstly, I think the new and more detailed tracking options are great! It would be good to be able to add your own custom things to track but otherwise these new options make symptom/activity tracking much more precise. Sadly, the analysis tab no longer tells me information about my cycles, such as average length and cycle variation, which I found very useful. You also can’t see your tracked symptoms/activities on the analysis tab, only in the calendar which makes it more difficult to compare cycles at a glance..Version: 101.5

Recent updates are a jokeIt works ok for cycle tracking but it was a much better app about 5 years ago. It seems like every time I update, they've removed another feature I've used for years and put it behind a pay wall. It's just ridiculous, apps are supposed to get better over time not worse!! I used to love using clue connect and you went and put that behind a paywall too? That literally makes no sense because even if someone did have the paid version, clue connect is unusable as you'll have no one to share it with unless everyone gets the paid version which is never going to happen. Another thing is it has recently become completely unusable for anyone with irregular periods. It has predicted that I have a 7 day long period as that is my average. However, if my period is shorter like 6 days, it doesn’t let me record this, it automatically records as 7 days I’ve tried every way to get it to say 6 days and there’s no way to change it. Which intelligent people decided to make a period tracking app that doesn’t even let you track your periods 🤦‍♀️ let me guess, next update we’ll have to pay for that feature!.Version: 136.0

Bad update! The latest update makes this app so annoying to use, I don’t even want to use it now. Way too many clicks to just track the flow. Really hate that the calendar is arranged mon-sun instead of sun-sat like most calendars.wish I could roll this back to an earlier version..Version: 101.7

Used to be great - new update is horrendousI’ve been using Clue since the start of 2016 and it was great - simple and intuitive. Then the recent update came and destroyed Clue for me. The new version is truly awful to the point of feeling like a completely different app - clunky, unintuitive, requires much more time for user input. I could go on. This is the first app review I’ve ever written, the update is so bad. Worse, the stock response from the developers to these reviews is “we’d like to point out that this update is not the finished product”. Why on earth would you release an unfinished product? Why?! So far I’ve given the new version three months to improve and it hasn’t yet. If there is still no improvement over the next couple of months I will be requesting all my historical data from the app (that’s now stored on their servers, not locally on your device) and take it to another service instead..Version: 106.0

Was better before updateThe new interface is so much less intuitive. Also I wish the “trying to get pregnant?” banner would go away. I’m not -_-.Version: 101.7

Not worth it anymore…I’ve been a loyal user of clue for years. I was a beta tester for this app back in the day. I loved being able to see my cycle variation easily and share that info with my doctor. Now, almost every piece of additional data about my own cycle is locked behind a paywall. Features that we’ve had access to for years. I suppose they think that introducing a paywall for features people are familiar with and love will make them purchase the subscription. Unfortunately, I think you’re just more likely to lose your loyal fan base. Cost of living is bad enough, I’m not paying a subscription fee to track my period. Honestly, I would’ve probably been happier to pay a one off purchase fee. Goodbye Clue, I’ll miss you (until I find something better)..Version: 153.0

Used to be 5, now 1Forced to update, had been using Clue for years. Now a lot of the features are behind a paywall, annoying banners and subscription prompts. Worried that years of period data is gone, but I’ll look into that more. Might have to find a new app, and I’m sad about it :(.Version: 156.0

Not as great as it claims to beAfter my last review on the App Store, the developer might have fixed something so that I wasn’t stuck in the login loop anymore. But then I had an error where I couldn’t actually select certain days to track any data for those days. For example, on a Sunday I could ONLY track for last Tuesday Wednesday only. Clicking on other days up until the current day would not allow me to edit anything. It was impossible to use. I think it’s some new setting where you’re not allowed to select future days, but even that caused other issues. Did an update and it seems to be working now. But seriously, user interface on apps are supposed to get BETTER with time, but my experience with clue has only gotten worse over the years. Still prefer to use my other app (that has ads) and keep clue just as a backup. Would never ever consider paying money to use this app..Version: 105.0

Slowly declined in qualityThis has ever so slowly become the worst period tracking app. originally based in the idea that free and equitable access to your own health data and knowledge was a right for all menstruating people has slowly devolved into a worthless app with basic features behind paywalls. the straw that broke the camels back for me was the erasure of access for all of our own historical menstrual cycles. i’ve been tracking my own period since 2016 and now the page that had all of my cycles for ease of use is no longer available to me. mine own data and health information. i have always had an extremely irregular period and the app not allowing me to see my historical data impacts my ability to manage my own health. how dare you put a barrier between me and my person information that i graciously LENT to you. how dare you force me to pay for access to my own cycle history. not even medical information or knowledge that you provide—MY INFORMATION. unfortunately i’ve lost trust that not only my personal medical information is secure, but also lost trust that the new implementation of features is in good faith and a desire to make our lives easier. I’ll be finding a new app and starting over unfortunately. wasted 7 years tracking my health after thinking you’d be on my side..Version: 145.0

Not user friendlyThis new layout is so bad, what happened? It’s not user friendly anymore. I use this for so many years now and that’s the first time it got annoying like that ;(.Version: 101.7

The “free” version of this app is useless.Like many other recent reviewers, I too am a long-time user of Clue. Just today I opened the app and realised that I can no longer access my own historical data including basic tracking information such as my cycle length, which I had input myself into the app. Over time, I have noticed that Clue has increasingly hidden more and more information that was previously freely available on the app, behind a paywall (which is disappointing and raises questions about the quality of the Premium offering). However, why an app developer would gatekeep my own period tracking data, the literal premise of a period tracking app, is beyond me. Given this, I would no longer recommend Clue as the free version does not satisfactorily fulfil the basic functions of a period tracking app..Version: 146.0

New update ruined the appI’ve been using Clue for over 7 years and this update has killed it. The new entry format means you can’t quickly log info like taking the pill by tapping the days up top and pill at bottom. The colour for birth control is now red rather than yellow, a bizarre choice considering no other colours changed and they’ve made it harder to distinguish from spotting on the calendar. It’s also removed all my custom tags and notes on cycles, and the birth control setting has been removed meaning it keeps trying to tell me I’m ovulating. It’s a slight improvement in terms of aesthetics, but for no good reason has removed functionality. I’ve seen the responses saying the update isn’t finished. They really should wait until it’s done rather than releasing an unfinished mess of removed features and data..Version: 101.5

For $1 say womanBeen using this app for years and loved it, but now the devs cant even say the word woman.. dehumanizing garbage..Version: 46.0

Ruined a perfectly good cycle trackerI never write reviews, but this update has left me frustrated and disappointed. The new update has removed any reason to log anything. Cannot view anything in analysis. Can’t see your own tags. No temperature chart so what’s the point in logging? Can’t use it offline. Doesn’t work with dynamic text so doesn’t fit on screen if you need larger text. Why only part roll out updates so we are waiting in the meantime while not letting us know what we are waiting for? I’ve had to change apps, i no longer recommend it to the women i work with in women’s health. And if you want to be inclusive please remember we’re all going to get to peri-menopause and might be there for a good ten years and weirdly that just isn’t taken into account. Was completely happy with it from at least 2015, now completely useless and i might just hate it. Please let us go back to the old functional version while you work this out in the background. UPDATE in response to the generic response - why release an unfinished update when it leaves the app unusable? Tracking my cycle is a daily affair but i’ve already lost several months waiting for the next release so i’ve had to find another app. How much longer before the final fully functional release is available? And will it do the things we came to rely on before? I would be quite happy to be able to go back to the old version until this ‘update’ is sorted, but until then I have to go elsewhere..Version: 107.0

Not Just Angry But DisappointedThis is a long review but as a user of Clue since 2015 I’m angry and disappointed. For most of the time I used Clue the app was great and allowed me to track my periods and other sexual health information with ease. However, since the update around a year ago the app has become a clunky, limited and disappointing experience. Things that were once easy to enter now take extra steps, things that were included are now behind a “premium” paywall, and I now get constant ads to pay for “premium”. The app is a classic example of people that have never done a user experience course in their lives. Instead of adding new and great features to your “premium” offering you put things that were once free behind a paywall (such as creating your own tags/notes) and while your UI is visually appealing it is inaccessible and cumbersome, zero design thinking used by these people. Finally I’m angry, Clue now collects an excessive and unnecessary amount of data on its users. How is Clue using this data, which marketing firms are they inevitably going to sell it to, how are their protecting that data (with their crappy UX knowledge I doubt they have good practices) and when I sent Clue emails asking for my data to be sent to me and delete from their system I was ignored. I would not recommend this app, I suggest looking for another..Version: 147.0

Rendered useless by ‘redesign’I’ve used this app for years and it’s now useless. An effort to redesign its look has totally broken the whole calendar tracker. Whenever I try to track anything it skips back to November 2022 and I have to swipe forward to today’s date. I can’t even log anything for today because even though on the wheel screen it understands it’s 31st Jan, I can’t select anything past 29th - the black outline just stays on 29. The tracker as a whole is such poor UI design - you should never be adding clicks unless there’s a reason and there is no reason to have made tracking things take longer than it used to, especially after the weird choice to add and remove different categories. I guess I’m going to have to start again with a different tracker. EDIT: I’ve figured out it wasn’t saving properly, so I had to add something else to track then click ‘save’ and then click out for it to get to the right date. I have no idea why, particularly why the decision to make it *less* intuitive to use was taken. Edit 2: that fix doesn’t work any more, I kept going back to Nov 22 and couldn’t select the actual day I was on at all. I am so confused as to what’s happened to a previously efficient app.Version: 102.0

Good but could be betterI like this app but I feel like it could be so much more insightful. I like that I can log all my symptoms but there are no analytics on this as far as I can find aside from period and fertile days. I don’t really see the point of tracking my symptoms each day when there is no way to easily see how my symptoms change through the month and to see patterns. All you can see is coloured dots on a calendar. To analyse the data I’m logging I’d have to click on each day to check what I inputted. It would be so cool if (for example) there was some kind of graph feature to show how my mood went up and down throughout the month and insights on how this correlates with other symptoms I have logged along with my cycle. It would be amazing if it predicted symptoms with your cycle, so something like ‘last month during this day of your cycle you experienced low mood, acne and breast tenderness.’ This would personally help so much especially with mood related issues, so if I’m feeling low and have a breakout for instance I can be like oh! It was probably hormones due to where I am in my cycle as I was experiencing something similar during this day in my last cycle. Hopefully these kinds of things are being introduced. Thanks.Version: 102.0

Was great- update was a downgradeI have been using this app for years and have found the latest updates have downgraded the usefulness of it. It’s slow and seems to ‘drop’ data. I was also able to previously have custom symptoms I could track such as insomnia or hot flushes so that I can report to my doctor in these. The update requiring you to track number of hours of sleep or temperature is not as useful..Version: 102.0

Does the jobI have used clue since I was 13. And when I started using it, it was great. Helpful and informative. I vaguely use it now as an adult, but my cycle is more regular and I know my body better so I don’t need it. If you don’t want to pay money, which I don’t, it’s a basic and helpful app with no weird ads. Does the job. I only give it 3 stars because I used it before all the subscription stuff.. I understand clue is a company and needs to make money. But it is a shame to see a lot of the articles and health information behind the subscription paywall now. It was nice to have a reliable and easy to consume source of information on my body growing up, and I’m sad to know it was be as accessible for others. But the app still works just fine for tracking your period..Version: 151.0

Unnecessary UpdateIv been using clue for years now and the new update user interface more unnecessarily complicated, before the update it was simple to log things in without having to press save constantly. Also the new update has made it so you can only log and track things if your connected to wifi which is inconvenient at times. Edit: just updated the app again and I love the new changes. Has the all ease of use of the from the previous version with a nice new layout from the recent update..Version: 101.7

Was a 5, now a 1I absolutely hate they’ve removed the estimated ovulation/fertile window. That was a critical point in the success of my family planning. Now that the feature is gone, I’m gonna switch to a different app. Thanks for all the years, Clue..Version: 22.0

Being back free offline mode!!!I have been using clue for years and its been great for long. I initially downloaded it because i dont have internet service every day and clue was kinda the only one offering offline functionality. with the latest updates you cant even put data in when offline. i am very disappointed clue got rid of that basic feature. Please bring back offline basic functions.Version: 108.0

Great tracker — but keeps freezingI love this tracker very much but the app keeps freezing on me when I try to put in new data!! It’s getting to the point where I’m about to delete the app and use an alternative. It’s so frustrating and I don’t have the patience for it, as I have to exit the app every time to reset it but lately it’s been freezing every time and I can’t actually add any new data any time I open the app. I’m not sure if it’s my phone, but I don’t have this problem with any of my other apps. If the freezing problem was fixed, I’d resume using this app as it helps me keep track of my period and taking the pill a lot..Version: 64.1

Stop asking me to upgradeI was a massive fan of Clue and had been using the app religiously for a few years without any issues, until they introduced Clue Membership. Aside from the fact it's annoying that a company who used to pride themselves on providing the best completely free period tracking app is now charging for extra features, I keep getting notifications telling me to upgrade. If Clue wants to charge for the extra features then that's fine, but PLEASE stop harassing those with the free version to upgrade. If the constant upgrade notifications are not removed in a patch, I will find another application to use. Very disappointed, as I said I love Clue but the notifications are driving me crazy..Version: 5.1.1

Hate the new updatesI’ve been using clue since 2017 and I finally made the switch to Flo because of the new updates; seems like they’re switching a lot of the new items to a paid model, and I won’t be able to track my birth control (like in how older updates you can switch the setting to contraception/pill so it’ll send you reminders to take your pill) Other usability has gone down in quality (more steps to input data, waaay too many things to track). Maybe if it changes back to something similar, I’ll come back, but for now, I’ve transferred my data to Flo and will use that for time being..Version: 102.0

I have to make an account now?I expect the shiny new app is user-friendly and allows the entry of much more detailed and nuanced data than the old one. It always was intuitive and easy / quick to use, and I'm sure it still is. But I don't actually know. As an existing user, it's very disconcerting to open up an app I've used on a monthly basis for years to be met with a "log in or sign up" screen, with no apparent way to continue using it without an account, and no indication as to whether my existing data has been preserved or is going to be accessible to me if I create an account. For what it's worth, I really don't want this intensely personal data stored on the cloud, other than within my encrypted iPhone backup. I just want it stored locally, on the phone, which is locked to my biometrics and isn't used by anyone other than me. So I suspect Clue is no longer for me at all. But setting that aside, some sort of guidance page for existing users, explaining what's going on and talking them through the migration, would be useful..Version: 101.3

The update is terrible - do not trust themUpdating my review AGAIN since they keep lying….folks, just read their privacy policy, you don’t need to take my word for it (and certainly don’t take the developer’s word for it). When you update the app, they automatically toggle on for your data to be shared. To the developers, your responses are insulting. Please stop. Also, I’m STILL waiting for my data extract. Y’all need to comply within 30 days per GDPR. Update in response to their comment: No, actually the safest place for your customer’s data is on their own phones. Your customer service is not equipped to handle urgent requests, it takes them several days to respond. Your customers need the ability to wipe their data immediately for their own safety. If people want to create an account, great, give them the option to. But don’t force your customers to create one if they aren’t comfortable with it. The real reason they force you to create and account is Clue wants to sell your data. That is why the “sell my data to third parties” is toggled on by default in the update. Very disappointing. Forcing users to create an account is truly appalling given where we are at with women’s rights. I’ll be requesting an extract of my data (you can no longer do this yourself within the app - why???) and deleting. Bye Clue, I loved you for years but you broke my trust..Version: 102.0

Prediction FlawGreat app & easy to use but for the sole reason of not being able to change the cycle length prediction, I have started using a different app. Minor detail but frustrates me that I can’t accurately visualise/calculate when my next cycle starts. There is a section where it tells me my average cycle length, but it does nothing with the data on the calendar/predictions. Seems a but pointless 🤷‍♀️.Version: 65.0

Used to like itThis app used to be great. The predictions for periods were pretty on point for the longest time and Clue gave me a way to keep track so that I wasn’t in a constant state of wondering about when my period might come like I had been before I wised up and started tracking. When my cycle started going nuts, Clue was also helpful in pinpointing where things went wrong, and gave me month to month comparison that I could communicate to my doctor. Clue has now become woke. I had been wondering where the fertile window predictor was, and read this evening that it’s been removed so that the app can appeal to a larger audience. This is absolutely ridiculous to me. Women downloaded this app to know about their cycles- period days, fertile days, and all. For many women, this was used as a natural family planning tool. In an effort to appeal to the masses, Clue has not removed important bits of information. Clue, here’s a clue- men to not menstruate, a biological male does not menstruate regardless of whatever gender he thinks he is, and biological females- whether they think they’re boys or whatever, at the end of the day are still females and may benefit from knowing when their fertile windows are. I’m just not clear on what the wider audience is when there is ONE gender that menstruates, bears children, and gives birth..Version: 62.0

Disappointing ChangesI used to love this app. It was intuitive to use and all the features were fantastic. Now, a pop-up to become a paying user pops up with every action done on the app. Previously free features are now paid only. And it has stopped syncing with my Apple Health app now..Version: 108.0

Took my Health Data to Sell Back to MeI diligently added notes about my cycle, symptoms, and other health issues for years. Now all that data is behind a paywall and I cannot view it unless I upgrade to a paid subscription..Version: 157.0

Loved the app, hate the update.I’ve used clue for years now and found it incredibly helpful to keep track of periods and other aspects of life associated with them. I had no complaints about the app before the recent UI update but now it’s so unintuitive. I understand apps wanting to update the look and feel of an app to keep daily active users (or I guess in Clue’s case monthly), but the functionality changes are clunky and bad. Having to “save” updates for a day, not being able to swipe between days anymore, having a huge scrollable icon list of things to pick from, removing analysis features, removing custom tags, removing a pin on the app to protect user data from other potential people on your phone: these do not increase accessibility at all. In fact the more I explore the new update the more I find missing features. I don’t mind the actual visual changes; the UI still looks nice, additional options within certain aspects of tracking are always good and consideration of visuals for those who are disabled is great. However the way the most basic functionality was formatted is more important than anything the new update has to offer. I loved clue. But unfortunately I will rate it badly and look for a new app until someone with some common sense reverts some of the functionality changes back to what they were. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!.Version: 101.3

Hurts to have to find another appSeeing these reviews has opened my eyes to realize I’m not crazy for my thoughts below: It feels like some features have been removed completely and not replaced by anything useful for me personally. I’m not trying to conceive or near menopause. It’s great that these are available modes! But what happened to the birth control reminders? It was useful when changing time zones. And tracking symptoms is still clunkier than it used to be for those of us who need to track multiple days in one sitting. What happened to being able to lock the app behind a password or face ID? Also, all the main “features” feel like multiple ways to look at the same data about cycle length (calendar, analytics tab, cycle tab). The available health articles aren’t the most enlightening either. I can’t imagine how this app is without the subscription anymore, as the current available Clue Plus features should really be free. It’s giving me less value than I had for free back in 2016, when I started using it. I truly feel heartache at the thought of having to find a new way to track my cycle. I used to love this app dearly as it helped me so so much as a teen/young adult. Ugh!! 💔💔💔.Version: 133.0

Great app gone downhillI’ve had this app for over a year and have very much enjoyed it until the most recent update. when the whole flow selling data thing was big, clue was the only menstruating app i liked that was mostly transparent. the only thing i use the app for is to track my period. i don’t care about logging symptoms, i don’t want to get pregnant or track pregnancy or anything like that. all i used it for was tracking my period. i mean, i don’t even mind when clue isn’t accurate and i’m early/late. i simply like to see how many days in between each period and how long my last one was to get an idea every month. however with this new update you have to pay to see your analysis. why? even if i had the money for $10 a month/$40 a year, i wouldn’t buy it. why should i pay YOU to see MY cycle analysis. this is MY period in MY body. tracking it through an app is much more convenient but if the analysis doesn’t become free again i will be deleting the app and all my data to switch to another app or start physically tracking it myself. i understand the need for profit, but now the only thing i can do is insert when my period starts which is not cool and frustrates me. paying $40 a year to see how long my cycle length is is absurd. i know i am not the only one who finds this incredibly frustrating and not right. please fix this. at the bare minimum, make the analysis free again..Version: 151.0

Poorly Displayed Data and Doesn’t SyncUpdated 20/07 Thanks for replying. I’ve tried to sync the data on several occasions. It does not work. I downloaded Clue because my sister recommended it. Back then they said they were still making improvements. While changes have been made it’s been impossible for me to see any patterns in my symptoms data because of how poorly it’s displayed. The only thing clue seems to have a good handle on is the average length of my period and cycle which can be done by any other period app. When I try to import the data into something that will display the data better (e.g. apple health) Clue doesn’t even sync to that. None of the help blogs have been useful at all. I think I’m just so frustrated now. Unless something changes soon I think I will I find the time to do some research into a better period app with better data displays and syncing capabilities and and make the switch..Version: 123.0

Steals your data even though you’re paying for privacyForecast stopped working after a few months and now I have to pay to access my own data and records. It is completely unethical for an app that holds such sensitive and intimate information to be selling it to the highest bidder. Finding out they were selling intimate secrets about my body was literally traumatising, especially since this app is recommended to sexual abuse survivors..Version: 4.1

Don’t like new updateI used to love this app and had been using this app for years to track my period. But while this new update changes the look completely with some positives i rather would have kept the old one. I don’t like that they removed the tags section where you can make custom tags of your own. I used that so much and now either I can’t find it on the new interface or they removed it. I also wish that when you click on a day when you logged your symptoms, it doesn’t show like a quick breakdown of what you selected and rather you have to click on each individual category that you picked to see the details of what you picked. I’m debating on removing this app now because of this but would like to give it a chance to see if there will be changes Update march 2023 While they started to make some improvements since their terrible update (like putting back customized tags) what frustrates me the most is that you can’t seem to see or do anything if you’re offline. I can’t see the calendar nor track anything even though it says I have 5g service and the app says I’m offline. When I needed it most while at the Obgyn I couldn’t access anything because it said I was offline. I’m deleting this app now and I’m search of another one..Version: 107.1

Loved this app until an add began popping up after every logThis app was marketed as the best free and privacy considerate period tracking app back when i first began using it two years ago. While i can appreciate and understand needing to promote the paid option to support the function of your Business, having an add pop up after every time I log my symptoms for a day is really damaging to my perception and want to use this app further. I dread logging now because i know I'm going to be "reminded" if i pay i can get xyz. But i cant pay which is why i sought out a free app to track my cycle , and i am happy with the app features i use and i just feel sort of bombarded with this push to pay for features i do not use or need. I am simply someone with a womb who wants to track symptoms and know what day i am going to start my period that i do not need to be reminded to upgrade EVERY-TIME i use the app to log a symptom. The rest of the functions of the app are already behind a paywall gatekeeping useful information from people who need an education not their bodies natural process capitalized. So please, as a compromise, can you cut down the adds on the free version of your app? Everything else is great, the app works flawlessly and all the features are amazing. You deserve to be paid for your work, but this new model for marketing the paid version is really off-putting and i hope it changes..Version: 136.0

Basic tracking works fine, too many adsI’ve had this app for years, since they’ve created pricing plans and features every time I open the app I need to close about 3 windows advertising the paid features. Basic calendar tracking has worked well. The only reason I haven’t changed is because I can’t be bothered to look for a new app..Version: 152.0

Profiteering from pregnant peopleUsed clue for years and years apart from a hiatus when i was last pregnant as the app had no ability to reflect this. i started using again when my periods returned after breastfeeding hormones dropped but am now pregnant again. After years of feedback Clue have finally added an ability to add a pregnancy - but only for a huge fee. You cannot even let the app know you are pregnant without subscribing. A deeply cynical and profiteering move to target people who it is well evidenced over the course of their lifetime have income negatively affected by pregnancy and childbearing and rearing - most of us who become pregnant don’t get much or any pay for months- a year following the birth and are in need of access to their own data and healthcare info - so to specifically delay for years an obvious update to the app only so Clue can deliberately profit from this category of people over others is pretty disgusting. Fine if people want to pay for additional advanced features (free with all other prgancny apps on the market) but to not even be able to record a pregnancy at all without a charge is pretty low. Clue over the last two to three years are persistently going against all their original values which made them an attractive proposition in their more authentic beginnings..Version: 32.0

They changed so much :(Update: cycle tracking in the apple health app is actually really good!! I like that clue shows your cycle as a circle but tbh I think I’ll be switching to apple health now. It’s also much more gender neutral/non-binary friendly. It really feels like it’s just a health thing whereas with clue it still feels gendered to an extent. Old review: I’ve been using Clue for about 6 years. It’s always been easy to use and a good way to keep track of my period. But the most recent update made it so much worse :( They took away features (like being able to see common symptoms from each cycle), completely changed their interface and tracking, made it harder to track stuff (before you could just swipe through each category but now you have to individually click on them), and got rid of the widget which I had just started using and found really helpful to see when my next period was at a glance. Plus it doesn’t even seem to have settings anymore?? And there’s no way to actually access your account details as far as I can tell. I’m disappointed. Anyway, I despise that I have a period. I wish I didn’t. I’m not happy about tracking it so I will NEVER pay for your app. I get that you have to make money but seriously leave me alone. I don’t want your special features I’m just using you as a calendar..Version: 151.0

Always changed for the worse, stopped using ages agoErased my old review from many years ago down to 1 star, to join in with saying how frustrated this app had made me, after I used it as a kid over 8y ago and have become an adult in that time, with all the changes that do nothing to help the users have a decent experience. Over 8y of history I had logged onto this and there was never any from of notice or warning that the access to my info I’d been tracking would be completely blocked from me. I wouldn’t be as angry with the decisions from the developers if I’d been given any warning like “due to this and that, we have plans to update/change our app in these ways! Here’s your heads up for what to expect to be changed from what you are used to already”. None of that. I do not recommend anybody to not use Clue, aside from the ridiculous changes in the last year to the entire experience of the app and a paywall, Clue has biased, opinionated, and false information about pregnancy and where to get medical care while pregnant plastered around their app. A very clear agenda to promote abortion and a disapproval of pregnancy. It disgusted me, so I feel obligated to at least come back and make sure I edited any review I left in the past to reflect what Clue turned out to be, which is nothing good. Just wanted to track my period, had to resort to Apples health app which does the basic things I used Clue for years ago without anything insane going on.Version: 156.0

I love Clue but...I wish there was some function to rate the levels of my pain when it comes to menstrual cramps! I have thought this basically every month since I came off birth control about a year ago (bc periods were always light and fairly pain free, real periods are heavy and painful but I feel less depressed so it’s swings and roundabouts!) but because of my periods being natural it’s more difficult to track what’s going on without Clue. This month I had a mild ache that felt like very soft cramps 2 days before I was due, but it’s vastly different to the debilitating pain in the first/second day of my period - I’d just love to be able to keep track of that and reflect on the difference! I love the UI and how minimal and beautiful it is but sometimes I wish I just had a couple more options for some of the topics. Also I’d love to leave notes that aren’t tags? I don’t like the tag function I don’t really get it, but just leaving a brief note about my vibes throughout the month would be good! That point is deff less important tho..Version: 27.0

Removing Tags Deleted Medical History!I have been using Clue since my first period. My sister used it before me and recommended it. I had a very erratic cycle but no one thought too much of it because it was my first year. The next year I bring it up to my doctor and she says to wait a little while longer. It was nice to show her the data of how long in between periods and there’s no way I would have remembered on my own. We are speaking about 2 or 3 months with no period at all. Cut to about a year or two later I had a huge medical scare. My right ovary was about 8 times the size it should be and my left was better but not by much. So my doctor puts me on birth control and I start recording the pain I am having from the ovary on Clue with Tags. Later on, I get emergency surgery and then another surgery about 5 months later. During this time I start taking a different medication that I also list with Tags on Clue. I will have to ask my doctor when because that data is gone. To summarize not only did multiple years of data for an important (menstrual related) medication get deleted but also all of my data for tracking pain before, during, and after medical procedures. I got no warning my data was being deleted! If I had known I would have written it elsewhere..Version: 101.3

Very disappointedI have used this app for about 6/7 years and I’m very disappointed about how little you can do on it now unless you pay ! Absolute joke and will be deleting because of this *Edited to say I used clue conceive 2 out of 4 of my children and since no4 have been sterilised I’ve recently been having issues missing periods and since the new update I can’t get any of my previous tracked periods so can’t give the doctor a clear picture of what’s going on I also suffer with memory issues so this always kept me in the know ! I completely get you have to make money but hiding our past data especially when we had the app and this was a free feature is unethical imho I get for new users but for us that had it before and really depended on that feature is unethical imho and I can see from the most recent reviews I’m not alone with being unhappy with the updates ! I think the old skool way of keeping track on an actual calendar might be the way forward.Version: 146.0

My OWN period analysis is Locked behind a paywallIt didn’t used to be like this but now I can’t even see my past period analysis. Inacceptable, I’m switching apps.Version: 147.0

Disappointed in the changesI have been using this app for several years now and loved it. I tried a few different tracking apps and this was the easiest app to use. Just recently they took the fertility window away and of course we are tying to get pregnant now and this was the whole reason I had tracked for so long. I’m really disappointed with this change..Version: 21.0

New updateI’m not sure why they got rid of being able to quickly see what you had tracked on an individual cycle day. Now you have to click ‘track’ on each day, then click on each individual category, then see what you chose etc. The same process for tracking new things - you have to select ‘track’ and then ‘save’ on each individual category, which seem like very unnecessary extra steps. This makes the app suddenly very unsuitable for someone like myself who uses the it to track and identify trends in symptoms linked to certain days in a cycle. They also got rid of giving each day a cycle number outside of the current cycle, so again realllllly difficult to track trends or quickly see each cycle length. This new update means a physical notebook would be far more useful..Version: 101.3

Would give no stars after recent updatesAm really disappointed to learn upon going to enter current cycle data that I now have to sign up to do so or to view my existing data. It was a very useful tool when I could access it, although generally three to four days behind despite saying cycle within 1.5 days variation. The main reason I chose this app was to track my data purely on my phone without the need to provide extra info or have it linked to anything else. And now all of a sudden, to view my existing data of many many months, I have to sign up. Disgraceful action by the developer, and not at all user-focussed!! You should have left the basic access as it was and let people choose what they wish to link with, if at all. …….Developer response shows they either don’t understand my comments or are choosing to ignore them. I was well aware of the repeated suggestion to create an account, but chose not to, and at no point did it say my data would become inaccessible to me if I didn’t !.Version: 101.7

Why is my medical data now behind a paywall?Used Clue for 7 years and am realising now this kind of sensitive data cannot be trusted to app developers. I now find Clue basically non functional and it is gatekeeping my own medical data. Every time I open the app more features have been removed or locked behind a paywall, and I am bombarded with adverts to upgrade to restore previously free features. Even the descriptions of cycle phases are now behind a paywall - it stinks of greed. My entire (five year) cycle history has been locked behind a paywall, I can only see predictions one month ahead which makes planning around my cycle impossible, all my custom tags were deleted and still have not been restored, no offline functionality (my GP surgery doesn't have data coverage so the app is medically useless to me), no easy way to track multiple symptoms across various days. It is laughable to be harassed to upgrade to the paid app when the free version is essentially non functional and I no longer trust the company with my data. There is no way I can see to even export this sensitive medically pertinent data. I deeply regret providing Clue with so much of my personal data as now the apps function has been eroded I fear what purpose my data is serving. I have never seen an app tank itself as successfully as Clue did following the feature stripping update. Clearly capital interest won out over providing a medically sound, functional app. Would give zero stars if possible..Version: 152.0

Don’t use if you have irregular cyclesI’ve been using this app since 2017. I have PCOS, so my cycles are all over the place and hard to track. What I really enjoyed about Clue was how easy it was to use, and how informative it was in analyzing my cycles. Now, the new update has ruined that. Since the update I have had a cycle, and I did not bleed the last two days it expected me to. Before, the days on the calendar would be white and show I didn’t bleed and my cycle was finished. Now, it shows light pink on those days even tho I didn’t track anything. Two weeks later, they are still pink. This is not helpful, because at first glance it appears as if I bled for 9 days and not 7. Next, the analysis page. This was my absolute favorite aspect of the app before the update. Before it would have data such as the average length of my cycles and average days I would menstruate. Now that is completely gone, and all that is available is a record of my past cycles since I began using the app. The fact that it can no longer accurately record my cycles, and does not provide me helpful information about my irregular cycles, I will be looking for an app that can do that. This is frustrating, because I have been using this app for the last 5 years and I loved it. But I guess all good things must come to an end..Version: 101.4

Back to beforeUsed to be good, but after updated it got worse to track data.Version: 107.1

Let me track my BIRTH CONTROL!!I have been using Clue for years and love it. But the new update ruined everything. Not only does it look horrible. They removed the indicator and reminders for Birth Control. I really loved that feature a lot. Not it turns of my birth control button every few days and I have to add it back in. Please bring it back. Make it the way it use to be..Version: 107.1

IM HAVING A BABY NOT AN EMBRYOI have used clue to track my periods for many years. Now I am pregnant so decided to switch over to pregnancy mode. Disappointed to open up my app each week checking on the size and development of my beautiful little baby to not even have it acknowledged as a *baby*. Embryo absolutely does not have the same ring to it. No other health professional that I’ve dealt with in my pregnancy this far or all along in my painstaking fertility journey (after implantation) has ever referred to it as an “embryo”. Yes that’s the technical term for this stage but it’s clinical and empty and takes away from the excitement of the fact I am FINALLY pregnant and I’m going to be a MOTHER to a BEAUTIFUL HEALTHY LITTLE ***BABY*** NOT an embryo. Please fix this..Version: 107.1

New update is not as user friendly as beforeThis used to be one of my favourite tracking apps, but I feel the new update has made it a little too awkward to use, as it complicates the process of tracking symptoms and flow. Not being able to switch between these and preventing you from simply adding things directly onto calendar dates without pressing ‘track’ and ‘save’ each time, makes the process a little tricky and slow. Lastly, it also does not allow for the flexibility needed in changing and moving elements as your period progresses. Some sections are also oddly too specific in the details they require to track. Notably, asking for an exact body temperature rather than ‘warm’, ‘cold’ etc. makes the app quite inaccessible to ordinary people who can’t spend long periods of time noting down specific measurements of time and temperature. Overall I think the app is still incredibly useful, but I would be happy to see the return of the former format!.Version: 109.0

I’m not sure what I’ve done wrongMany people I know and respect love the app. It was the first ever period tracker I got, I was very excited because so many of my friends liked it. When I downloaded it everything seemed fine. I put in all my data no problem. When that was done and I saw the home page I was confused. My length is six days and what showed up in the home page told me it only went for 3. I went to see if I could find a way to fix this, after searching I asked a friend, she didn’t understand that problem and wasn’t able to find where I could fix it. So I deleted it and tried an other which I am very happy with however I did wonder if it was my fault that data was wrong so I signed in with a different email and added the data. The same issue had happened, and still no place to fix it. If I just an being blind and can’t find it (even though I’m only 16) let me know because I really don’t like to leave bad reviews..Version: 9.1

INFURIATED & DISAPPOINTED!Have been using the app for around 7/8 years and this has helped me greatly in tracking my cycle, with the analysis feature being very useful and important to me, having the ease of accessing this at doctors appointments etc where certain information is sometimes required. I have logged in today to see all my personal data without warning has now disappeared and I cannot retrieve it and continue building it without paying for premium features - the majority of which I simply do not need or am not in the stage of my life where they would benefit me, so that’s not to say I wouldn’t have opted to add this at some point in the future. The analysis feature has always been a core element of the app and for me without it makes the app redundant. Surely to erase my data from being accessed is illegal, I do not want to email to get this information as stated in every generic developer response, and judging by the amount of complaints there will be a significant backlog of others trying to do the same. When it comes to health you shouldn’t play around, I am beyond angry and disappointed the team at clue really should’ve thought about this more, clearly profits come before the health of their loyal community and if they don’t change things then their days are numbered..Version: 147.0

Good but removed useful features in latest updateI do like using this app and find it works great for me at tracking my period. I don’t mind the new update too much, though I wasn’t using any custom tags/for anything other than period tracking. It is a bit annoying to not be able to swap between days as quickly as you used to, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it in time. I do quite like the new look of the main feature for period tracking, as well as the analysis tab and calendar. One issue I do have with this update is that it removed the explanations from the tracking categories. For example, under the discharge category it has different options such as creamy or sticky, and on the older version you would be able to read a bit about discharge and it would give an example/descriptor of each option. This descriptor applied to literally every option on the app, and I found it so useful to double check and confirm that I was entering the correct information. I do really hope this is added again to the app, as it really helps making sure my periods are tagged correctly. Overall it is a good app, especially with how you don’t have to pay a subscription unless you want access to the journals (which do look fascinating, and if I could afford to I probably would subscribe!), but there are features that have been removed in the recent update that I really believe should be added back in..Version: 101.5

Love it but...I’m editing my original feedback because since then the app has been on a wild update! Although I love the fact that there are more features to choose from to documentsymptoms, losing the function to track and analyse the symptoms has left me high and dry. It was incredibly useful knowing that I could predict headaches/PMS symptoms/changes in mood but now the analysis function is only bleed, bleed duration and pms day. So I can’t understand why I’d feed so much content into the app only for me not to be able to search or reflect on it. Granted, you can look back at your cycle in the cycle tab, but you’ll see lots of dots against days you’ve recorded and because there are now so many options you can’t do a quick analysis because there are too many colours and you can’t differentiate between symptoms! Please please Clue - bring back the analysis function, or give me the option to download my own data about my own body so I can analyse it myself!.Version: 142.0

New updateAfter updating the app, I don't like the way I have to enter my information now. I like the old way..Version: 21.0

Locked Period HistoryI really like this app and I continued to trust it after the big period app data scandal a few years ago AND I fully understand that the app needs to make money somehow other than ads or selling data BUT I should be able to see the data I enter into the app without paying for Clue+. Otherwise the app is just a timer..Version: 149.0

Anything relating to menopause and peri menopause? The app doesn’t seem to really understand irregularities in my cycle relating to: various pills screwing up my cycle, Mirena screwing up my cycle, assorted medical procedures, intense PMS symptoms etc etc. in fact nothing at all relating to time of life and how peri menopause might be affecting this. Would love to show something like this to my doctor, but the app cheerfully shows that my cycles are 26 days in average (they really aren’t) and about 6 days long (think more like 10+). It would really help not only the gaslighting by the medical profession I’ve experienced but also my own mental health and sense that some thing is wrong to show on an app what is actually going on. Periods are described as light, medium, heavy and spotting, hahaha. Where is crimson tide, massive foetus sized clots, hurricane and at the top end of the scale “environmental catastrophe”? “Heavy” doesn’t really cover all of the above. Why not have more articles about peri menopause and menopause? Are we invisible? (Don’t answer that, I know we are). This app works well to track this horrid monthly event, and a handful of symptoms. But it could do so much more, for more of us..Version: 40.0

Cycle analysis...My previous review... used to be good - I could pick any symptom I might have ‘tracked’ then see at a glance if there was a correlation to a time in my cycle across all my cycles. Now the app shows me limited symptoms and gives me a summary based on only the last 6 months. This is definitely less useful and involves more scrolling up and down and button selecting than previously. I’d say it’s been over engineered. Please bring back the old way - it was the best thing about the app🙏🏼 Jan 2023 review My previous review above was 3 stars but I’ve had to make it 1 star as it’s even worse. I’ve been tracking my data with Clue since 2016. The UX and UI has got worse for me with each major update, particularly when it comes to the Analysis. There’s no ‘tracking’ if I can’t actually analyse what I’ve logged. Logging symptoms also takes longer now. I can’t read what each symptom is without having to pull up the category as I scroll along because the unnecessary ‘save’ button is hiding the words. Very disappointing..Version: 101.5

Payments for our own data and for health information is crazy.I loved this app before but it makes me upset it feels like having to pay is going against the purpose of the app. Paying for health information and to see our own data is crazy. I would rather have more adds than a subscription I think the app would do way better if it was free and the ads were explained to donate to the company and for women’s health. Paying for products is enough no one wants to pay for this too. I am thinking of switching to another app but it is very irritating because I have been using this app for so long..Version: 150.0

Connect update not very LGBT friendlyI do love this app, but one of my favorite features was Clue Connect. My partner and I could track and compare our cycles through the connect feature. You have “improved” this feature by making it quite hetero-normative. This update assumes that if I share my cycle, my partner must be a man therefore there is no need for him to share his cycle back. I can see hers, but I now can’t share mine, the share feature goes away once i have a one way connection. I also use to be able to view both of our cycles side by side and now I can only see her cycle calendar in isolation. Big let down, it ruined the best feature of this for LGBT couples. Please improve this..Version: 137.0

Lots of talk but nothing specialI wanted this app because it would send my husband updates on my cycle, I thought I would be a fun and easy way to communicate about this. The app does do this but only in a very limited way. I can’t control which notifications he gets or edit the text of the notifications. For example, I want my husband to get a notice when my fertile window is approaching and I would love to be able to edit the alert to be something fun and sexy. No can do! He gets all or nothing, so instead his phone dings, “It’s (name) PMS today!” Then follows a long medical article about pms and a note about how my acne might be worse. I can not think of ANYTHING less fun and sexy. I feel like a medical specimen in a jar. So much for empowering women. Oh, and now they just took away the fertile window entirely with a message about how it “puts too much emphasis on your fertility.” Well... that’s why I got the app. Make it optional, something people can turn on and off, don’t just take it out and leave only an option for the ovulation day alone. You know, why not just take out the period prediction too since it can also “be inaccurate,” and it puts too much emphasis on menstruation. Why not just have the app predict that every day is the same inside our bodies? That way we can just be surprised when it’s not! Who doesn’t love a good surprise right! Oh wait, I guess we don’t even need an app at all then..Version: 28.0

A shell of what it used to beEdit: Below my previous review of this app. It no longer holds up. Now, in 2023, the app is just a shell of what it used to be. The developers have caved to the almighty dollar and everything has been put behind a paywall. Even basic analytics are gone. The new layout is not user friendly and all the things I used to enjoy are gone. Notifications don’t even work anymore. I will actively look for a new period tracker. When did the developers get so greedy? If it’s not broke, maybe don’t overhaul the whole app and put everything behind a pricey subscription. This is the best cycle tracker app you could ever find. It's not designed to be girly or even geared exclusively towards women. It's a clean, sleek, sex positive, gender neutral cycle tracker. I can't say period tracker because it tracks fertility as well. You can record the usual information (blood flow, cervical fluid, PMS, cramps) as well as small things (oily skin/hair, cravings, ailments, mental health, etc). Everything is backed by science, which is all cited, and analyzed for you to plan for the future. It reminds you to take birth control, perform a breast exam on yourself, plan for PMS/menstruation, etc. It is all you could ask for in a tracker app; I can't praise it enough. It is high quality and user friendly. Do yourself a favor and download this app!.Version: 104.0

After being a faithful user since 2016...Got locked out of the app because it requires iOS 15 or later. Why? It’s a cycle tracker. It won’t even let me in to transfer my data elsewhere. Probably won’t recommend it to anyone else. Data since 2016 gone..Version: 72.0

Latest Update Usability IssuesThe latest major UI update has really decreased usability. Everything used to be easy to track! Ow it takes more clicks and an annoying and not useful save button. The calendar doesn’t use North American standards, and doesn’t display day of week AND I can’t change it. I realize many locations put Sunday at the end but this is very confusing when you’re not used to it and can’t see the day of the week..Version: 101.7

Update…(jumped the gun)I have been a long time user, 1 of the first to use Clue when it was first released, even becoming an ambassador and I understand the app is being rebuilt, but I was using the app and tracking my ovulation tests, to try and fall pregnant, and Clue had gotten pretty accurate at estimating my potential ovulation days, but now it has reset, taking none of my previous data into account and I have lost all my old custom tags, and I miss the OG analysis section… I’m just glad I had previously made an account, so I at least didn’t lose all my data completely…. I feel that maybe you jumped the gun on releasing this update, especially when people have become so heavily reliant on your product, storing not just reproductive data, but also using it to track other health data in general…. Please, please take your time, for the next update, to ensure it is completely ready for release and ready for everyone to use, we are relying on you..Version: 101.2

Birth control?I wrote a review months ago, complaining about the same thing. The birth control feature, which I was assured will be returning “soon” is still no where to be found. The app now has no clue when to predict my cycles as it can’t tell that I am on the pill and control when I get my period and start a new pill pack. I’m currently half way through one of my pill packets yet the app is “predicting” that my period will come in 5 days… which is completely wrong as I’m not even near taking the sugar pill. Please restore the birth control setting, without it the app is purely useless as it is not accurate at all. This new update is a pain and has been “rolling out” for months now. Please fix this and make the experience on the app somewhat tolerable. As of now, clue is no use to me..Version: 113.0

Love This App but it Has Some GlitchesFirst, let me start off by saying I LOVE this app, and even paid for the subscription as soon as it was an option. I’m a control freak and love being able to track details like this. HOWEVER, within the last 6 months to a year, the app has been really glitchy. I kept hoping with each update that it would get better, so I held out on writing a review, but it seems that the issues have gotten worse instead of better. Each time I log something, especially something for a previous day, the app freezes and sometimes fully crashes and I have to restart. Then the updated details take a few minutes to even appear, which makes the app freeze again and sometimes crash. Also, the app crashes as every time I open it for the first time, and I have to re-open it 1 or 2 times before I can actually use it. I have tried deleting and reinstalling, which didn’t help, and I even upgraded my phone recently, but still having the same issues. Hoping these things can be fixed soon because I love the app. I’ll end this review by saying I’m not going to stop using this app because it’s amazing and very thorough, but wanted the developers to be aware of these issues. Thank you!!.Version: 14.0

UghI think like most people I’m a bit frustrated at the new update. It used to be such an easy tool to be able to track lots. Yes you have added more buttons and functions I see being beneficial as there’s more detail but it’s not as convenient to use. Additionally there are not tags which is annoying. And most importantly you took away the temperature gauge which is one of the most important tracking measures. I have literally done maybe. 2 weeks at most of tracking since the update because you have ruined the routine and taken away what I feel is the most important part. Surely you can go back To the old layout with the additional buttons/information..Version: 101.5

Keep a version that doesn’t require iOS 15I would love to be able to keep tracking my cycle on this app but you updated it without leaving a way to keep the app running w/o iOS 15. Will that be remediated?.Version: 72.0

Unnecessary clicks to logThis app is good, however there has been a recent update where to log symptoms/flow each day it’s moved from selecting day and flow quite simply, to requiring you to select track, ‘your period’, (day), your flow, then click ‘track’ again, but this time on a different button, and then click save to complete this action. This is a ridiculous number of clicks for a single action to log a piece of info, and quite apart from the inconvenience it means that log sessions get missed as the reasonable assumption would be that at least the second click of ‘track’ would log the info. When you’re in the middle of trying to log your period and the brain fog that can bring, or post party’s and with the amount of things you’re dealing with then, these additional steps make a difference and they are unnecessary. It’s this that’s stopped me from subscribing to Clue Plus..Version: 112.0

DisappointedI’ve trusted and used this app for over 4 years but a few months ago I started getting unwanted notifications for information I did not authorise, such as information on menstrual cup and promotion of your new podcast. I've searched all settings within the app to turn them off, there was no such option. The only way to not be forced to receive these is by disallowing notification for the app, which means I also cannot receive the reminders I’ve actually chosen to receive. If you have presented those information once I’m in your app in an unobtrusive manner, that would have been acceptable. However, pushing those through to my notification centre without my consent and with no means to opt out is most intrusive and has violated the trust I’ve placed in you. Very poor effort. I’ve stopped using this app and will no longer recommend it..Version: 9.1

Used to love, now looking for other optionsI’ve have used Clue for years and years. Ever since I had an iPod Touch back in like 2010 maybe? I recommended it to my little sister and friends. Updates came and Clue only got better and better. Not only could I keep track of my period but also the pms symptoms and could make notes. Then came the subscription plan. At first it wasn’t an issue because what I needed wasn’t hidden away behind the subscription block. The ad would pop up constantly, but I could deal with that. But now I can’t even see my analysis. I can see my calendar and can look back and make my own deductions, but I cannot see the information I need at a glance. I can now do nothing but track things on the calendar, see my predicted start date, and see my average cycle length. If I want to know literally anything else, I have to sign up to pay $7.99 a month. I do not have the money to do that. The world is too expensive as is and I simply cannot justify spending any money on a period app, much less a subscription. If it was a one time payment of $10, I could do that. But a subscription is insane, especially one that costs as much as Clue does. Not everything needs to be a subscription..Version: 158.0

Where have the symptom analysis goneI love this app and used it for years but it used to have a really easy way to see what you’ve tracked over the month in the analysis section but now it’s taken away i thought maybe now it’s only with Clue Plus so i just signed up for the free trial but it still doesn’t have it. It only shows period tracking. Being able to see all the tracking for each day was so ideal now you have to tap through each day on the calendar section and it’s such a pain. I love this app please bring this back!!.Version: 125.0

DisappointedComing on here to say the same thing as most it seems, I’ve been using this app for atleast 5 years and all the extra features are now behind a subscription. A feature I had LAST WEEK is now behind a subscription, it’s pathetic. I can’t even go into the app to track my period without being bombarded with the pop up to subscribe every second click I make, it’s frustrating and makes me not want to use the app, I’ll be changing to a different one, I would’ve expected better from an app made by women for women but hey what can you expect these days. I understand we all need to make money but this app was free for so many years and now you can’t do anything without paying, do better..Version: 146.0

Used to be a great appAfter a forced update, many features are behind a paywall and I now see constant pop ups for a paid subscription. I have years of tracking data in this app that I will need to give up to switch to another with less aggressive marketing tactics..Version: 157.0

Clue Plus glitch - I have no paid three times with no access to Clue PlusI paid for Clue Plus and have been charged three times, however it glitches and reports an error every time I try to access it. I have tried to troubleshoot in every way and it has now taken the payment from my account but I don’t have access. I’ve found it hard to find any contact information for Clue, and have sent two emails with no response. I have no idea if I will even be refunded or if they will resolve the issue..Version: 25.0

Features that used to be free are no longerI have used clue for about 10 years now. It has always been my favourite period app but recently they have made the previously free feature of seeing the length of each previous cycle into a paid feature. I will be looking for a new app. Editing after the response from the developers: Making us pay to view our own data in the simplest form (the length of a cycle in number format rather than counting the days on a calendar) is not something that “takes more time and effort to develop.” People should not be downloading this app anymore. The greed will only continue and eventually they will start selling our data, just like other period apps have been found to do..Version: 147.0

Used to be five starBring back the fertile window or at least the option to add it in settings, not just ovulation day. Super disappointed in the changes and May seek a new app.Version: 22.0

Not happyUsed this app for years and then when I came to a point in my life where I would use the fertility portion of the app it’s removed I upgraded even at least give the option deleting this app and not spending a dime on something that takes away benefits of the app.Version: 22.0

It’s changedI used to really like this app. It was easy to track my period and ovulation for when I was trying to get pregnant. I started to feel weird about this app because once I finally got pregnant and switched to pregnancy mode the app would give me little updates about the baby every week. Some of the facts were really cool until it started to tell me that if I wanted to abort my baby I should do it before a certain time. It wasn’t just once either it would be for a couple weeks and it included information on where to get help as well. I’m sure a lot of people need that information and found it helpful I just wish they had put it in their topic section rather than the section where you watch your baby grow. I’m a few months postpartum now and I’m finally getting my period back. I want to switch to the free version but can’t figure out how because I can’t find the place in the app to do so. I feel like tracking has also become very tedious instead of just a couple clicks. If I forget to track for a couple days I can’t manually say it was from this day to this day. Instead I have to go in to each individual day and track it..Version: 107.0

This app has sadly gone downhillI downloaded this app a couple years ago and have recommended it to anyone who has asked for a good app to track their cycle. I never had any complaints. Recently, the company attempted a new app called beta and I was chosen to be one of the testers. As an incentive, they offer a free year subscription to the plus which would give you access to all their articles and advice as well as more in depth information about what you are currently going through. When I downloaded the beta app it looked the same. You track the same way and it gave pretty much the same information as far as articles and advice. Then I noticed things were starting to go missing. I was using clue conceive, and one morning when I logged on all you could do was track your cycle. I sent a report to the team in charge of the app and soon it was back up. No matter how many times I tried to activate clue plus it would never take and kept asking me to sign up every time I logged in. Eventually I gave up trying. After a couple months all of a sudden I had regular clue back and beta was over and that was that. Now, you can’t access clue conceive or pregnancy at all unless you sign up for $15 a month or $59 a year! Kind of doesn’t make me want to try it if it won’t even work on normal. Very sad how this app has changed.💔.Version: 118.0

Paywalling Tags and Other Basic FeaturesBeen a Clue user since 2016. These recent updates have ruined the experience of the app. It’s ridiculous to paywall basic features that have existed on the app for free for years (custom tags, predictions, etc). It’s a pretty snakey move considering users input the most intimate details in the app, details which are likely being sold on to third parties. I’d completely understand if the subscription applied to fancy new features, but taking away pre-existing features and paywalling them is trash. Also, the constant bombarding of pop ups regarding subscriptions and investing is so annoying. I’ve actually never experienced an app asking their users to invest directly through the app, it feels intrusive. If I wanted to invest in the app, I would’ve responded to the emails (which I also had to unsubscribe from as they became so incessant). Won’t even go into detail, but the updated UI functionality is subpar. It’s very clumsy and takes 2-3 times as long to track details. Overall, don’t bother downloading this app. The good reviews are old and should no longer apply to the current state of the app..Version: 112.0

Everything is paywalled. A massive shame.Considering the amount of data that has been given to this app from myself and thousands of other people, I find it quite unethical that so much of the analysis content is blocked behind a paywall. If I cannot access that information, how I am to feel secure about what the developers are doing with all my data! People use period tracking apps for a number of reasons, but primarily to track their health and wellbeing, to note any inconsistencies and potential issues that they might not have picked up with manual tracking. But all of that important information is blocked behind a paywall. Everytime you enter the app you are bombarded with advertisments. You accidentally click something, there is a pop up begging to take your money. I understand that the developers need to make money to continue to support the product but there is a point where it goes too far. I think Clue has far surpassed that point. A shame, as this has been an app that I have found quite promising and super valuable in the past. Will probably remove this app and go back to manual tracking..Version: 155.0

Used to be wonderful. Bitterly disappointed.Hey you! Just use the notes app in your phone or an excel spreadsheet instead. I have used this app for over a decade. When I first started I didn’t need an account or a password, it all just worked in the app. Over the past couple of years they have added these ‘account’ features that no one actually wants. I was trying to just quickly log something and they made me pause and create a password. It’s not why I got the app, and I wish there was an option to keep going as it was. Secondly, why is it necessary to connect to the internet to input my data? It should all just stay on my phone and shouldn’t need Internet. I have enough internet to upload this review but not enough to input my own data? It doesn’t make sense and it is endlessly frustrating. After ten years of using this app I’m deleting it and using the notes app on my phone, because that’s a better option than this overly complicated and constantly changing mess. I’m very disappointed, Clue!.Version: 127.0

Takes your data and pay walls itTo provide a service for free for many years and then take that information away to try and force me to pay a subscription is cruel. I can’t afford any more subscriptions. This left a bad taste in my mouth. Trying to force people to do this by taking away information you have gathered from me for 5 years is beyond what I thought this ap stood for. Don’t give them your time, just use your free phone ap..Version: 147.0

Switched to Clue in 2018, now taking my business elsewhereI switched to Clue back in 2018 after the app I was using started getting glitchy. It is now time for me to do that again. Clue was brilliant especially as as you could pick what you were using the app for (I was tracking for perimenopause symptoms). However you just cannot open the app anymore. The cycle screen does not load at all, the calendar takes a long time and the analysis screen is the only one that I can see in less than 10 seconds. When I contacted the support team last year about an issue with the Notes section they told me to uninstall/reinstall; I did not to do this as I was worried about losing my data (and as a recent reviewer stated, I would have been correct). I tried to export my data but it is not in a readable format unless you have the app, which is rubbish. It should at least be in a .csv or similar format to allow people to read and review their history. I decided in August to cancel my subscription at renewal as I refuse to pay for an app I cannot access 95% of the time and today I have just concentrated on getting as may screenshots of my data as possible so that I have a record of my data. I don’t know what it is that is causing such problems but your advice of uninstalling to fix glitches when there is a risk of losing your history is about as helpful as telling someone to turn their PC off and on again. You had such promise as an app, and I’m sorry to have to go..Version: 20.0

Update ruined my favourite tracking appI’ve been using Clue for years, it has always been my favourite period tracking app - reliable, easy to use, lots of options and settings. The recent update, however, made me consider switching to a different app for the first time. It seems that it was released too early with many features missing. As a POP user until a couple days ago, the daily reminders were a life saver! And now that I had a Kyleena IUS inserted there is nowhere I can record this on the app. I can’t set my contraception method or whether I want my fertile window to show or not (I don’t given I’m on progestogen contraception). And it’s also really difficult to differentiate the colours of the dots on the calendar - is this my bleeding dot or is it my pill dot? Turns out, it didn’t matter, as I was looking for my missed pill date and the icon has changed so that you can’t tell whether you recorded the pill as missed or taken without going into tracking, so I had to just check day by day. The only setting now available is privacy settings. With so much missing, it really seems that the update was released before it was ready and downgraded the app significantly. I will be switching to a different app, at least temporarily..Version: 101.3

Worst updateWas great before the new update. Literally blocking my own data from myself. Consider finding another app!.Version: 152.0

Lost everything!!So I accidentally deleted this app meaning to delete something else. I know it’s my fault but it’s so easily done. I was loving this app, used it for almost 12 months, the first and only app I ever used. I had every single cycle of mine on there, detailed. After simply clicking the delete button accidentally I lost all my history. I was so angry and upset of how I lost everything of mine. I re-downloaded the app and signed in again with Facebook. It still has my data from only my first cycle and then there is a huge gap until today. The app also says that once you are signed in it will keep all of your history but that didn’t happen with me. All I want is that information back because I have no idea of when I’m due and I don’t know what to do now. I’ve tried other apps but none are half as good as clue. I can’t even make a new account and just start again from today because I only have one email address and I can’t make a new account. I’m stuck.Version: 5.0.2

Extremely disappointedLiked clue for the first year but disappointed to see that they have decided to get rid of ovulation tracking. Lots of women don’t like being on birth control and yes it isn’t the most reliable source of birth control but it definitely helps having a reference to be more safe. Thanks for making things more difficult for those who don’t want to stick hormones in their body!!.Version: 20.0

HmmOnly stores data for 4years - unfortunate if recording crucial information needed for longer. I’ve lost records of important reproductive events, which is a shame especially since there’s no distinctive warning of this. Isn’t compatible with my series 7 watch - unsure why, I’ve had trouble since getting the watch back in April, all other apps work fine it’s just Clue that closes whenever I try to open it on the watch. The app doesn’t have a “dark mode” function either. Has vibrant pop up ads when opening app. Not great for photosensitivity. Would be great to use the watch or dark mode during my headache episodes as they’re much less stimulating. Won’t recommend for long term use or the storing of important data. Not likely to purchase another clue premium subscription because of the lack of appealing functions. Great for short term irregularities but otherwise non viable for reflections of the past..Version: 72.0

Clue is not the same anymore :(Dear Clue Team, I’ve been using clue since 2015. When I discovered this app I was SO happy, literally it was everything I needed. What I truly loved was that it wasn’t too complicated to track my cycles and I could easily see the patterns in my tracking history. Recently I realised that I can no longer access MY OWN DATA without having to pay for it. I cannot see any of my past logged symptoms without purchasing the plus…I feel this is unfair? Because I logged that information so I could access it when I needed it, especially for my health? I used to love Clue and I’m so attached, but now I’m just disappointed. ☹️ I wish the team would consider these aspects and make the app more accessible to all once more..Version: 158.0

A best friend that’s not so reliable!I have been a dedicated user of Clue for almost a decade. An early adopter when all other period apps were pink and fluffy, clue was a game changer with great UI experience, our relationship only grew stronger when they first started payment plans with continued loyal support. Our relationship developed like best friends as each year passed with all of the experience being nothing but loyal! More recently, since it’s lack of talking to apple health and continuous bugs such with a lot of features now not as good. Before all of this I would have supported their recent investment round but given recent experience I find it super hard to support them. To be honest I’m strongly thinking of not renewing my subscription next year. Clue, you really need to think about how you will buy back previous loyalty with defined timelines of old features coming back and not coming soon! Such a shame as you have a great mission which I still believe in!.Version: 114.0

ChangesAs another said, the option to add details needs to be added to the app, sometimes I want to add that I had a light morning but heavy day, and since downloading the app to my new phone, there is no longer a pin required to access, none of way to track had changed & is inconvenient.I can’t. - Personal notes to be able to be added to each day. I also don’t like how it doesn’t count a day of spotting in the cycle, as despite it only being spotting, you still need to wear something, as there is still blood. Over all I find this app great, I started using it after I had a baby and have been able to log how my period has been and have an idea roughly how long it takes for it to return to the usual pre pregnancy period..Version: 107.1

Update-disappointmentUsed this app for several years. I pard for monthly and was well worth it. I can no longer conceive so so I didn’t use the app for that However, the app provided much more, in understanding my cycle and my state of mind, so many aspects that I would have never connected. The ‘prediction’ was one of the very best parts of the app. Before when I started to feel sad I would think it was depression setting in which is terrifying. With this app I USED to be able to look at my previous cycles, all the way back… several years.. and see that this is the time during my cycle that I have these feelings. This kept anxiety down and helped greatly. Other examples I could go on with, it was a blessing to have. Now, for the past 2 months or so I am paying the same amount for the app but all my information logged over the past few years is gone. No predictions… I can log my symptoms but I don’t see the point if there’s nothing to compare it to. Emailed customer service 2 times asking when the info would be updated and restored (my personal logged info) should be available and the response was that the app is going through an update…blah blah. Tried to give it time but after much time and no improvement… thing is, everyone else that pays for the upgraded version is still paying and not one of us are getting what we are paying for.. so will we all get our money back for the past months? It seems only right since we aren’t receiving the benefits that we are paying for..Version: 101.7

Removing features won’t get more subscriptions it gets people to leaveI’ve had the app since it first started gaining popularity in 2015 so around when I first started my period and it used to be great. It provided accessible free useful and PERSONALISED information about women’s bodies and hormones which a lot of ppl find hard to access. But in the past year or so it’s become a beg for subscriptions. Every time I log into the app another feature has been removed, to the point where it hides the recorded entries about YOUR cycle. All of the information is now behind a paywall, as is the personal analysis which used to be so detailed and useful. Whilst not overly expensive, the principle of removing features is horrible, instead the developers should be focusing on creating more in depth and intensive features which would be worth upgrading for. If you want somewhere to record your cycle you might as well use your notes app, bcos that’s the only free feature this app seems to have anymore.Version: 146.0

Congratulations, you’ve lost meAt 45 I am neither attempting to get pregnant nor expecting everything to grind to a halt. Rather, I’m at the perfectly in-between age that doesn’t justify paying for a tracking app, but nor do I need to suddenly lose YEARS of tracking data cause you guys need to come up with a “sustainable” app. That’s your problem, not ours. Having migrated all info to Apple some time ago, today is the day I delete this app for good. Thanks for nothing, I guess..Version: 150.0

The update wasn’t all goodThe addition of more items to track is good and I like the extra options and specificity that came with the update but the way you have to track each item is tedious. From opening the app you would need to click track, select the correct day (if not tracking something today), click the category you want to track, click the option within that category, click track, then click save. I don’t understand the purpose of having to click track AND save, frankly it would be much more effluent to just click the option and have that be automatically tracked and saved. I’m not likely to click the wrong thing but I am likely to run out of time entering data when it takes this long. It would also be much better to be able to select a category and be able to quickly find past incidences of it quickly (like a Vlookup). That way I could look for the last time I had cramps, or how much of the time I bleed heavily vs medium or light. At the moment if I want to find this information I have to look through each day, scroll down the list of items to track and notice which ones I have tracked on a specific day. The colours do not make this easier because they double up. Blue dots could mean I tracked pain or skin or hair or other things. I will be considering alternative apps that are more user friendly for data input and analysis..Version: 103.0

Subscription SpamI’ve been using this app since 2018 - the recent subscription spam has been completely overbearing! Every single time I open this app I am given an advertisement about upgrading. Some day soon I will be transferring to another application or just tracking on my own. It’s ridiculous.Version: 155.0

Good but for me it desperately needs a journalThis app is really simple to use and has a great visual circle to show where abouts you are in your cycle which is nice. It also has a nice information helper as well with pictures you can click on to track how you’re feeling, if you felt like eating or if you slept a lot etc. on one hand I like this because it helps keeps things uniform and easy to track and on the other hand I can’t stand it because it keeps things too uniform and there is no where to add extra details if something else is effecting your health. For example I might be sick this week or I might be more tired then usual due to work picking up or being more active then normal. I think it would be really nice if there was a way to write down extra details like that. Perhaps you could make it so people originally write the journal entry in the regular symptoms detail entering place then it shows up in the calendar with all the rest. Perhaps have the journal entries primarily show up in the zoomed in one column, daily calendar page. Perhaps have the first sentence or a few sentences of the journal entry be visible under the symptoms to keep it compact but with the ability to click on them to view/create larger journal entries. Overall I really like some aspects of the app but I feel like the inability for the user to add detailed information could really hurt it. It’s something that has made me consider changing apps quite a few times..Version: 4.0.7

You destroyed your own app (user for 8 years)(I caved and switched to Drip, definitely recommend. Clue won’t release my data to me either) Not only this, but you are erasing our experiences. I identify as nonbinary and find it ridiculous to have the language so heavily changed- I am still biologically a woman, and it’s bad for the mental health of those struggling with dysphoria and dysmorphia to have their anxieties acquiesced to at every turn. All the features I used the app for are senselessly removed- it does NOT make sense to have had removed the fertility window, especially if you are trying to have users customize their own experiences. The predicted day OR window will never be accurate to a T, but the window is at least giving a few days to look out for. Make it opt-in, just like the day. Bring back trend tracking for symptoms that isn’t being a paywall. Bring more actual women onto your team. I updated so I could review and tell you to add a miscarriage option- now, I’m deleting and getting a better app like i should have done years ago. The app is destroyed. Edit 2023: getting better, but still ridiculous to have analysis be missing all the trend tracking. At least the potential fertile week is back. The new tracking portion also needs the arrows to switch days back as it is inconvenient to have to pop into the calendar to switch days instead of it being one-tap. As well, it’s laughable that description tells you to send feedback in-app… no, I’m going write a review, thanks. It’s your responsibility to check reviews and take accountability rather than trying to hide our discontent and disappointment wth you. The copy and paste response to our reviews is also gross and shows we don’t matter to you, only the money you get from the paid app. I’d happily have a 30 second ad related only to period products to support this app, or an option to watch ads to get some features, but as-is? Crazy. Gone from 1 to 2 starts but if the team continues as it is I’ll be putting back down to 1. Time to find another app or just chart by hand. Only thing I appreciate is the option for clue conceive that I can’t even access due to the cost, so I’m even not certain that is good either. Also, what is even new with the newest update (01/16)? Nothing visibly in the free portion at least. So disappointed. Edit again: noticed you say that hcg is only produced when pregnant. So wrong. You could have a tumor or some other issue. This is dangerous misrepresentation of information. I wonder what else is wrong in your app? Since writing my edit right now there has been another update that fixes the clicking needlessly issue, but I find more and more. Still 2 stars for now but often considering lowering. Just so dissatisfied. I don’t even know what to say at this point, I’m astonished..Version: 101.7

Fertility windowI loved this app, until they updated it and now there is no fertility window. Although it was not 100% accurate, i liked seeing an about of when i am ovulating. Please bring it back... at least as an option with us accepting that it is not 100% accurate and is only a prediction.Version: 22.0

LameSame as everyone else… forcing us to pay now after having the app for years is awful. Use to love this app, guess I’ll look for another option..Version: 149.0

Update removed useful functionalityThere is no longer a ‘settings’ button anywhere in the app to allow you to password protect the app on your phone, nor anywhere to request a backup file of your data, nor anywhere to scale up/down the data you are happy to share with Clue. The ability to swipe between days to quickly record data has also been removed - you have to click in and out of every single date now which disincentivises recording much info. AND you get pop ups to go to the paid version every time you record a single symptom. The app is almost unusable. Bring back the old app interface….Version: 141.0

The update was a kick in the faceI’ve been using this app avidly for a number of years, and I even had a premium account for a while. Well, I might move on, because this update is horrible. There doesn’t seem to be a way to turn off fertile window anymore- as a trans person with no interest or intention of ever conceiving, I don’t want to see that. It was a major draw to this particular app. Additionally, birth control reminders seem to no longer exist. Good luck to those who had been using clue to remind them of things. There’s no more notification settings, so I can’t tailor which ones I want, and I can no longer double tap on a day to add data. Plus, now you have to manually hit the “track” button for every individual item you track. Who wants more buttons to hit? Sleep now requires you to type in the exact number of hours of sleep you got, which… I guess is more precise, but it’s a lot more tapping. The one I thing I do like is more options for each individual thing you can track, but I miss being able to hide different categories I will never use. Sorry Clue, you don’t understand what your users want. And before you give me a “developer response” that you’re working on adding features back? You should have finished the features before forcing this update on everyone. Not to mention being forced to make an account. What a slap in the face..Version: 101.3

Incredibly poor decision on product team’s partUpdate: Found the old version of the app on my iPad with an upsell to create an account with the value prop of supporting “a refusal to sell your data, and a no-ad policy.” None of this implies that we’d be getting a pre-toggled setting agreeing to share data for “the purposes of advertising, such as tracking or retargeting.” The what? Either this is a betrayal of the core value prop or a massive missed opportunity to write reassuring content listing the contexts when this would be helpful for users. Just really gross. Original: I am a UX designer who has worked in privacy and safety for the past five years. I am mindblown by this redesign both from a product and a privacy perspective. This is not even close to MVP and should not have launched with such a poor feature set. While attempting to find my data, I discovered the pre-toggled consent to share it with advertisers, which I can guarantee I never toggled. I am curious whether this is specific to US users, as I can’t imagine that hiding and preselecting a consent preference flies under GDPR. This is a fundamental violation of user trust when the app had the advantage of being one of the few cited as “private.” I can empathize with the difficulty of rolling out new design systems and maintaining feature parity, but it’s very difficult to understand who would have not seen these reviews coming..Version: 101.5

The love has gone....Loved this app up until they took away the ability to monitor my fertile days. I’m not on any birth control and don’t want to get pregnant, so I use this to monitor my days so it’s easy to see when to ‘cover up’. I think I’ll be looking for another app that offers the ability to still see these days. I get they are different for everyone, but mine seem to have been bang on the money for the last year. So think it should be an option if people want it..Version: 29.0

Love ClueI’ve used clue since 2015 and it’s my favourite tracking app by far, but the new update is horrible. It’s hard to navigate and contraception tracking no longer works well at all. Very disappointed because of how much I loved the app before..Version: 101.7

The update is kind of terribleI logged some important notes during my cycle like I usually do but the new layout makes it almost impossible to find out what notes you’ve logged. That is really annoying. The update made the app worse and harder to use..Version: 101.7

Used to love it, now looking for another appI started using clue years ago and have regularly logged my data on an almost daily basis. It was formerly an amazing tool to track my period, as well as many of my other physical and mental conditions. So many of my doctors loved it! It used to be super easy to use and super simple to navigate. Changes over the past year have made it almost unusable for me, and left me logging data less and less frequently. The app is now full of constant pop up messages about blogs and podcasts and all these different aspects of the app that I have no interest in or use for. I have extensive medical training and knowledge - I do not want to be constantly bombarded with requests to ‘learn more about reproductive health basics’. The changes have removed what I loved about the app and I am now changing to a simpler app so I’m able to log data regularly again without getting upset at the app design..Version: 28.0

Good Tracking App But Update Needs Some WorkUsed this app since I come off hormonal contraception a couple of years ago and it’s been a god send in helping me notice patterns/make predictions! However, not a big fan of the new update. You now have to manually save everything, a lot of useful details have been removed, and there’s no option to do your own custom tags (I liked to use these to put in more personal details throughout my cycle). I’ve also noticed that the length of my cycle doesn’t change, even when I don’t record any period days e.g. my last cycle was 5 days, yet it’s still coming up as 6 days as that’s what it originally predicted. It’s only a minor glitch but it is a little annoying considering it’s nearly always 5 days! Overall I feel like this app is very much optimised for those using the pill, not using any contraception, or for those trying to conceive (where has the IUD checker gone?!). I would also like a smear test/gynae check feature!!.Version: 101.6

Horrible new interfaceI really rarely review apps, but I’m reviewing this in hopes that they will update before I have to quit. Clue has added so many bells and whistles around tracking my period that it has made the experience overly cumbersome. Please bring it back to how it used to be..Version: 107.1

Changed for the worseI’ve been using Clue since 2018 to track my irregular period. You used to at least get a small amount of information regarding pms, period symptoms, cycle variance etc…. But now every five seconds it asks me for a monthly subscription. Used to love to be able to check on different things to do with my body. But now you don’t get any information besides the tracking calendar, and annoying pop ups. Going to be changing to a more user friendly app..Version: 150.0

What happened?I’ve been using this app since 2015, it’s been great. However, recent changes have made the experience very clunky and unintuitive when it comes to switching between days. Sometimes I bulk update my period because I don’t remember to do it day by day. The whole “save” thing is frustrating because now I might miss changes that previously were seamlessly updated. Also, switching between days is unintuitive (let alone combined with the save feature); making the whole process take 4 times longer than it used to - I have to triple check to make sure I’ve got all the data entered correctly..Version: 103.0

Unfortunate UpdateLike a lot of users I got logged out only to come back to the removal of personal tags, privacy settings reverted to share ad data, a lot of tracking I didn’t need or want to see (for triggering reasons) forcibly turned back on, and a new non-intuitive interface to struggle with. I don’t recall any email or other notice from Clue that we were about to experience huge changes and would loose our personalized tags, very disappointed in that. I dislike the new layout and hate the scroll-sideways requirement to find tags (and there’s a whole lot of new unfamiliar ones in some categories) in addition to having to save for each one. Before I just tapped what I needed once and done. I can see myself mistakenly missing that step and forgetting to save data until my muscle memory for the app changes. Also….Meditation? Partying? Why are these their own categories? We have to enter our own exact hour/minute for sleep instead of a range? PMS has ZERO symptom options under it? Why is OKs icon under Digestion a salad? Just a whole lot of really unintuitive and head-scratching choices in this update. I’ve used Clue for a very long time, in part because it still does avoid a lot of the gendered and conception-focused missteps other apps take but this has me considering going to pencil-and-paper journaling and ditching the app altogether..Version: 101.4

Locked out after updateAfter the update I was forced to delete the app because I have an older phone that doesn’t support IOS 15. I’ve been using this app for years and now all my data is gone..Version: 72.0

Different depending on locationI started using Clue when I lived in the UK, it was super reliable, I’d get notifications and could access the app from my phone easily. Since moving to New Zealand I don’t get regular notifications anymore and the app often goes black and won’t work again until I restart my phone. It is a bummer as I really got used to the service and the data and insights provided. Just a shame it doesn’t seem internationally compatible..Version: 7.0

Long time user - Holding data hostage until I sign upI’ve been using clue for years. It has all my fertility history and tells the story of my pregnancies. I chose clue all those years ago as I was not required to register and could store all my data locally on my phone. Without any notice I open the app one day to discover that I can no longer access my data without an account. I’ve been emailing clue seeking a solution - but I’ve only had standard template replies. I think this is a huge breach of trust. I don’t care if your CEO is a woman in Europe. I don’t want to give a company my fertility data. Fair enough if they wish to change their business model - but fair warning should have been given to users to get their data. And a solution should be made available for people to exit the app who elect not to create an account. A note in the app update list is not sufficient - I have automatic updates set. I never look in there. And I’m sure I’m not the only one. Please - provide a solution to access my data..Version: 101.3
