✓ Anchor AppJust got this app and love it so far. Easy to use, color of track changes every hour so you can see your recent track as it over lays old track. Lays the track over Google earth image so it is sort of ‘enhanced reality. The only thing it could maybe do that it doesn’t have (or I haven’t figured out) is to overlay it on Navionics chart with AIS....but that’s not a big deal..Version: 6.20

✓ Stress Reducer!When we first got our boat we had some issues keeping track if we drifted off anchor. Sleep? No way. I was too worried. Then I found this app. It works great. When I drop the real anchor I also drop the virtual anchor. I set my radius and that’s it. The alarm will definitely wake you up if you cross your boundary. Just be aware that since it’s always running once you drop your anchor you need to keep your phone battery up. So I plug my phone in anytime I’m using so I don’t have to worry about my phone dying. ✓ Perfect for verifying good anchorI’m confused by the low reviews. My use case: I’m on a boat and want to make sure the anchor was set properly. I downloaded the app, ignored the help screens, pushed the down anchor button. The app shows where you are and draws trails to show where you have been. When you go out of range, an alarm pops up. If this is your use case feel free to ignore the folks complaining about email or their phone’s gps performance inside their car. This app has successfully tracked anchoring on my boat for several years. Easy recommendation..Version: 5.01

I have tried several other apps and none are close to as good as this one. When I sense a wind shift I love looking at the color coded lines that clearly show periods of time based on color. The new boat shift will be a new color and you can quickly tell if the boat is lying in the correct area. I also like the remote features so that when we go to shore we have a warning system. ✓ At last an anchoring app that worksHave avoided sleeping at anchor for years due to worries about dragging. Have tried this app a few times during short stops in the UK (Solent and south coast). Pleased to see it works perfectly and I am much happier about the prospect of sleeping at anchor when I (hopefully) visit the Isles of Scilly) later this summer. The remote monitoring even tho experimental works well - iPad on boat and iPhone monitoring. Has helped me track our anchoring safety from my cabin at night - and meant we have had to use the battery draining boats instruments. One comment the audio alarm “Make sure you are not connected (jack, audio or usb) to an audio device, if you charge your phone on your radio's usb port the ipad will send the sound there (but the radio will play it only if set on 'iPod').” Can also be suppressed if you’re connect via Bluetooth.. It’s easy to use when you have internet but placing the anchor may not be accurate without. I especially like and use the arc radius feature which allows me to narrow down my radius of safety to a cone of safety. ✓ Thank you so much!So on my sailboat, I have a 12v outlet/ iPhone charger in the bow cabin which allows me to place my phone very close to the bow of the boat while we are on anchor. The continuous charging allows the GPS to work throughout. I have been very happy with the set up which will alarm if we swing too far, have a drastic wind shift or drag anchor. The fact the alarm comes through the Apple Watch is great for when I am on the boat away from the bow. ✓ Great Anchor Watch AppJust took a trip from Seattle to Glacier Bay AK and back using this app and it worked great. Just launch the app when you are ready to anchor and set the anchor location when you drop the hook. It will track the boat position from that point forward showing on the screen everywhere the boat has been since the set. It allows you to then set a radius alarm for any distance but since it will show the boat position when you back up to set the anchor you will see the radius at that time. Very reassuring to know how your boat is tracking and to do a quick check at night. It does consume a lot of battery so we run it with an iPad left charging. The app works in background as long as you don't close the app so you can use your device for other things and come back to the app and it will show the tracks made since you left it. Need to put your device in a location where it both gets GPS and someone can hear the alarm. Anywhere in the main cabin worked for us. It works with or without internet..Version: 5.01

✓ Anchor - rest assuredWe have been using Anchor since it was first offered on the iPhone - I believe it is the best anchor watch app available. Two features make Anchor really stand out: 1) ability to change the anchor location after the anchor is down. Let’s face it, I don’t stand on the bow and capture the anchor location in the middle of a set. But setting the position in the app based on range and bearing after the anchor is set does work. 2) Remote monitoring. This option lets us worry less while ashore; we can see the updated boat position as well as the position age and battery status of the sender. My only “nice to have” request is including a nautical chart overlay - I suspect this is hard to do, and the documentation reflects that the developer agrees, but this add would be nice! Perhaps OpenSeaMap? In summary, a great app, that now offers an Apple Watch app as well!.Version: 5.09

✓ Brilliant app and brilliant supportI have been using this app for a number of years with great pleasure. Previously my wife was the anchor alarm, being a very light sleeper. Since using the app she has been delighted to be able to sleep soundly. The remote monitoring feature is invaluable. In short, you get a mirror image of the active apple device on the boat on the second device you take ashore. This shows when last it connected to the boat, so you can be sure the image is up to date and you will get an alarm if the boat drags. I was very upset recently when I was unable to get a connection between my two devices. I contacted the developer and Antoine provided an immediate and comprehensive investigation to track the fault. Eventually this was traced to a content blocker set up as a default on my iphone - easily fixed once identified, but a lot of ingenuity and persistence needed to get to that conclusion. What none seem to do is allow you to move the point where the anchor lies relying on you hitting the drop button on the app as you drop anchor. When using a new anchor watch program, I keep the perimeter tight and like waking up to the alarm to make sure things are working. I use an old Ipad Air (no wifi) Bluetooth connected to my old Dual XGPS150A GPS. Can't exactly tell if radius or diameter, and the boat anchor distance is too small relative to the screen when anchoring in 7 to 20 ft of water. ✓ Brilliant app!!We've tried a few other anchor apps but we now need look no further. This app does everything we wanted. Obviously it sends an alarm if the anchor drags and puts you outside of your pre selected limit but it also keeps a constant track of where you've been. Something we've found invaluable when you're moving around a lot and not 100% sure if the anchor's holding. It also means we can use the historical track to confirm exactly where the anchor is and using the coordinates, update our chart plotter with the correct position. All in all a great app and one we can thoroughly recommend. ✓ Earned it's keepWell worth the money. We use it combined with our Bad Elf GPS. Setting the anchor position is easy and you can move it if you want. The anchor guard zone is simple to set and adjust. You then see the boat's movement. The alarm woke us with plenty of warning when our anchor dragged. Thoroughly recommend..Version: 4.6
✓ AnchorMapping is a little crude but then again this isn’t a navigational tool. The features are great. I love that it traces your path while on anchor. ✓ Problems with remote mode - fixed!Updating my previous review (below) as remote is working fine again. With this feature working the app is just about perfect. I have used this app for 3 years and raved about it. But recently it seems remote mode will not work. I have tried multiple device combinations without any luck. ✓ Best anchor watchThis is the best anchor watch I was able to find. It does everything you'd expect it to do. Even when you switch off your ipad (not power-off or stopping the app of course), Anchor! stays active and will wake up itself (and you) on alarm conditions. We've been using this app on our yacht in the Meds six months a year on an almost daily basis for a couple of years. It never was unreliable (apart from a small problem in a new version). ✓ Great but!This app has changed my life, knowing that I have an anchor watch on when asleep. The occasional false positive, due to gps variations, it well worth it. But I cannot make the email notification work, as soon as the alarm goes off the email option is switched off and I have not managed to send a single email - not much good when I am in the restaurant.Version: 6.20

✓ Great Anchor alarmThis alarm has saved my boat when we were hit by a strong southerly. The anchor dragged and then picked up seaweed. The alarm woke us up and I was on top of it. Easy to use with good coverage. Just set the pick and the alarm and it works with IPhone or my iPad. I leave it by the bed charging and it monitors all night. You can also set it to call you by sms if you leave the boat with iPad monitoring while you go out on your tender for a black walk. 10/10.Version: 6.12

✓ Great appThis was pretty good before but now that I can monitor the app whilst ashore is a real improvement. Easy to use and clear. My only gripe would be that it would be nice if you could move the anchor by entering the coordinates rather than move the pin on the screen. I recently had a problem with the monitoring on my iPhone. The support was excellent and it turned out that Vodafone Securenet had stopped the sharing so as soon as I entered the website as a trusted site, all was well again. Great app..Version: 5.08

The standout aspect, and the one which made us trust it is the fact it does actually mimic the boats movements, and tracks them. First time we tried it out was during the day and we sat and watched it’s every move and sure enough it recorded every swing. ✓ Best anchor app.This is the best iOS anchor app I have found. It saved me last summer, waking me while I slept after my rode got cut. It’s easy enough to use. I have used it to call another device in the event of a drag. The only downsides of the app are the fault of Apple. The app is not allowed to send text messages or make calls in the background. Apple should make an exception for apps like this. The best part is the developer answered a recent question of mine so we know this is an app with an active developer which bodes well for the future health of this app. Well worth the purchase..Version: 6.20
