✓ Great app, shame about advertisingBought the 30 day pass for the app to help with transit around Japan, works efficiently but annoyed to see continued advertising after paying £14.99. Most paid / subscription based apps remove advertising..Version: 4.5.2

✓ Paid version is worthlessGreat info on train times and routes but I wanted the navigation feature. Even with my pocket wifi it never worked. No turn by turn, no voice prompts, and it was very laggy. Wish I could get my $20 back. We ended up using Google maps. Not only was it more up to date but it tells you which entrance and exit to use. It even suggests which car to use for the fastest exit!.Version: 4.5.6
✓ Update 3.0.0 ruined itI downloaded this app ahead of my trip to Japan 4 weeks. I was messing with it for a few weeks and loved it. Now, the night before my trip, I opened it up and was confused. Where was my app? Did I download something else? NOPE! The update ruined it. And I lost all my saved routes in the update. Now it’s confusing and difficult to use. Shame!.Version: 3.0.0
✓ Worst ever!This app is not usable. It will keep the GPS on doesn't matter if you use the app or it runs in the background or even when you close it. My phone got so hot I thought my phone was broken. It really sucked the life out of my iPhone. After 5h, hardly using my phone, a text here and there, my 5s down to 30%. I checked the battery usage on my iPhone and within 7days this app used about 60%. One app, uses 60% and the best, in that 7 days I not even have used the app at all. It was just running in the background or was even closed. Apart from that, the app did work well, it could plan your route. There is still a bit of work to be done. At this point with that fault, it's an app which you can't use. What I also don't like, it's oNe of those apps, if you want to use the full service you have to sign up for a monthly payment. ??? .. for a route planner app no way!.Version: 1.3.6
✓ Drains your battery significantlyBe careful with the settings. It will continually check your location even when closed. It reduced my battery life by 40% and I want even using the thing. Caused my phone to overheat and crash. I will find another app instead..Version: 1.4.0
✓ Bad train information on this appTried finding train route from Tokyo to my resident city, Tsukuba, Japan, but the app gave me wrong information. I have taken this route dozens of time using the excellent Hyperdia website. But this app not only gave me a bad route, it could not even find the Tsukuba train station. Tsukuba is the Japan Science City and the second biggest city in Ibaraki Prefecture, so this is shameful. Do not get this app. instead, use the Hyperdia website..Version: 4.3.16
✓ Only routing would be greatI really wish this app was only a routing app. It feels bloated and slow with all the other information that’s all trying to get my attention when all I want is to know which train to take, when, and which platform I need to go to. The routing function is fantastic and there are tons of other resources for tourists to plan their visits, so why jam those two things into one app?.Version: 2.9.1
✓ FrustratingThis App was one of the best when you need to find the right transportation when you are in Japan. However after the recent updates, this App cannot be used on my iPad Pro and iPad 6 to search the appropriate routes because there is a Navitime banner blocking the search button! ✓ Helpful but still missing dataApp was a really useful help in relation to the JR Railpass but when it came to details on other ones like the Hakone FreePass details were lacking. The app provided no warning about some services that needed a reserve seat or additional cost when planning you day of travel. Over all it was useful but caused some long delays in time wasting when details were not clear at point of purchase ( ticket machines) or on signs at the platform (reserved only) like others trains advertised..Version: 4.5.5
✓ Deletes everythingThis app is great, but….. it always deletes my saved train routes. I live and work in japan, and it’s very annoying when I look to see what train I can take, and it deletes ALL my saved routes. To the point I have to save them all over again. ✓ Overly ComplicatedDoes not show route maps! Even for paid version. Don't waste your money. Travel instructions lack clarity. One good feature: it *will* tell you when to leave Point A to arrive at Point B, at a specific time. ✓ Detailed but frustrating bugVery detailed app with all the information you could want as a tourist down to which platform and car you want to get on. Unfortunately it has a fatal bug for me. It CONSTANTLY keeps popping up the iPhone compass calibration wheel whenever in the search screen. Every 2 seconds or so it pops up and makes using the app almost impossible..Version: 2.8.2
✓ Paywalling useful featuresI used to love this app, but they’ve made some very questionable changes lately. Seeing the station list used to be free, now they’re making you pay for premium to look at it. I’ve also seen a bunch more popups bothering me to upgrade. ✓ Making free features paidI have been using this app for years now, and it has been very helpful as a resident in Japan. With one of the more recent updates, they started to really push the paid plans. This took features that were free and monetized them. The station list for my route is no longer viewable which was great for tracking my time. In addition, they hide the cost of the premium plan to get you to buy it easier. Very sad. ✓ Expensive & no way to evaluateTokyo can be hard to find your way around but this app looks like it should be able to help. But at over £5 for just a weeks use it's really expensive. ✓ Good for somethings, bad for othersI gave this app 3 stars because numerous times, the stores I wanted to find/shop at came up with no information. This is disappointing because they immediately appeared when I googled the same store name with all the information including a map and directions. While other portions of the app are fine, for me if I want to go somewhere and this app can’t even tell me it exists I’m sorry to say it’s usefulness is closer to a 1 star... especially considering I had to pay $7.95!!!.Version: 3.5.1

✓ Never found it usefulWe traveled most of Japan and found google to be better. Navigation seemed hard and it didn’t seem to come up with interesting things to do. I struggled to find the right trains to get on and just gave up as it was easier in google. I found the app a waste of money. Shame I had high hopes. ✓ Don’t buy access to maps!!!This app is OK for finding routes that Google may not give you, however the amount they charge to see the actual map is RIDICULOUS! Highway robbery! ✓ IOS 15 not workingThis app was rated five stars before updating my phone to iOS 15 when the app crashed every time I tried to edit the date. Other than that: the app was excellent, and it helped me immensely on my travels through Japan in 2019. I could at have asked for a better travel companion. Everything made simple, rail passes included and can be filtered to prefer them, convenient for getting tickets for places and events..Version: 4.3.10

✓ Good and badGood points - generally very handy for trains, and recommend it for any visitor to Japan or expat living in Japan. Bad points - seems mainly geared to Japan visitors rather than expat residents of Japan who want a good English app. - extra services, I think, are costly, but again this is because the app is aimed at short term visitors, so this may be worth it for them. - if the app provided a yearly cost, for long term use of premium services, that was reasonable, I would consider it. - annoying request for personal details each time the app is first opened, you can skip it though. - seems to use a lot of battery life with background usage, so I strongly suggest turning off the location services unless you really need it..Version: 2.1.6
