✓ Good not greatI’ve had this VPN for many years now I bought it when they first started up and offered unlimited service. The speed was good but now it is terrible, I get 150Mbs, on a gigabit pipe, so it’s basically worthless for anything but but basic surfing. Over the years, the service has degraded as they have made several tiers above What was the premier one I bought. The service used to connect very quickly on my iPhone, but these days I find myself turning it off most of the time because it’s causing problems with the connection. I have to go into the app and turn off the VPN and then turn it back on in order for it to connect and then it takes 30 seconds to connect to a very close server. This happens in multiple places with completely different Wi-Fi systems so it’s not the Wi-Fi that’s doing it. I feel like they have relegated their early customers who bought “unlimited premier lifetime service” to a very low tier of service because we’re not earning them money anymore. I am seriously considering moving onto a different service provider even though I’ll have to pay for it..Version: 9.1.16

✓ THE WORST VPNPremium? Absolutely not. The slowest VPN I’ve ever used. So annoyed I’ve bought a year of this. Truly the slowest VPN ever. Why does the app take so long to even load? I constantly find myself without the internet working, then I check the VPN and it takes me literally minutes to open, and when it does I have to connect to another location to get it to work. It’s so extremely slow, even when connected to the ‘optimal VPN’. For reference I have an IPhone 11 Pro Max, so I shouldn’t be suffering apps that take so long to open up. ✓ UnreliableI have had a subscription to use the VPN on multiple devices for several years, but it does not work any longer. Sent in a ticket for support, but never received an answer. Most servers slow down the internet so much that they are unusable. I used to love this VPN, but why subscribe if I can’t use what I pay for. I pay every month, but when I try to connect my devices I get the error that my subscription is expired. That is not true. **The developers contacted me** Don’t be sarcastic. I said in the post I had a subscription to use on multiple devices. Before it stopped working completely, the app did indeed slow down my connection to the point that I had to turn the VPN off. When I try to connect the VPN to devices other than my MacBook, the app says subscription expired. Not true. I have been paying for years. I did indeed contact help support several times. ✓ SlowI bought lifetime subscription but hardly use this as the connection speed after VPN is significantly reduced. PureVPN on the other hand speed impact after VPN is marginal, hence more use able. May 23 update. Tried changing the protocol to IKE (similar to PureVPN)from openvpn after seeing developer's response and connection speed is noticeably faster. ✓ Total FrustrationI bought a lifetime subscription because the price was right and it came recommended from various sources. It won't stay connected and prevents me from using my iPhone 6S+ as I'd like. I have continuously contacted Support and have done everything they've asked/suggested yet the problem continues. I've tried using various locations and get the same issues. I can't use connections outside the US because I use Pandora and it's not available out the US. I shut off my phone constantly or reinstall the app constantly in order to be able to use FB/email/internet/Pandora but I shouldn't have to do this. From reading the reviews it's obvious I'm not the only one with this issue. It seems 9/10 people have this problem so I don't understand why it's not a high priority to resolve it. I don't use wifi specifically so that my phone isn't trying to connect whenever I pass by a wifi spot. I have unlimited data so using LTE is not an issue. It seems that people using Apple products are having the issue more than others based on comments. Maybe that should be an indication that's an area that needs special focus on resolution. I’d follow up customer service who were always helpful and responsive. Within 30 mins to 24 hours it would work again... then stop. ✓ Significantly impacts your browsing/phone experienceI’ve used VPN Unlimited sparingly over the past three years due to issues that impact my phone experience. As I’m trying once again to use the app in earnest, I continue to have these issues: This app continues to slow down my Internet connection significantly, sometimes not loading websites at all. The app does not appropriately identify when I’m on cellular vs. my local network. Settings say I’m on cellular when I’ve deactivated cellular on my device (for testing). The app does not seem to respect or apply settings to the whitelisted networks I've identified, so I need to toggle protection on/off manually. Overall not recommended due to performance of the VPN. It’s an unfortunate fact of life that VPNs are needed in our perilous world. This one seems to offer adequate protection and, when it works well, is barely noticeable, but too often it negatively impacts your device speed and misidentifies networks often enough that I’ve lost confidence in it. ✓ Not only they stopped blocking ads, they actually ad their own to your devices !!!I choose it a year or two ago because they used to be the only VPN, that had an ad blocking feature, which worked great, after a couple of month and with no warning, they took that away with an upgrade and I lost that feature. I have been extensively playing with options to block annoying ads, not only in browsers, but also in free apps, till I just discovered the shocking news now. ✓ Haven’t worked since the new updateBefore, for years, I rarely use this app because it can never connect to my work WiFi. 3-4 months ago I send in an inquiry and I was told to disable the optimal section in the setting. There were multiple protocols (6 I think). I tried all the protocols and the last option worked. I was able to connect! Now, with the new upgrade, the app stopped working. I check the setting. The optimal selection is still off but there is no selection for different protocols. I can not connect to my work place WiFi anymore. After writing this review, the app frozen so I had to close and restart the app. For some reason the protocols came back again but it was set in the first protocol which I know don’t work. Now setting it to the 6th protocol and pray. Trying to get back to the main page and couldn’t. None of the selection allows me to do that from setting. I have to close and restart again. ✓ Be Careful what you clickSo I initially subscribed to VPN only, thinking I would also receive up to five devices with the account. When my trial period ended I attempted to add VPN to my iPad, at which point I was taken to this company‘s website and that when things got confusing. At that point a Mono Defense account was added to my subscriptions and I was charged again even though I clicked the “I already have one” option when asked if I had an account. I would assume that would mean I would not be charged again so I continued with the process. Checking today I see I now have two accounts and when I reached out to the company personally I was told that I added account that was not connected to my Apple ID and they cannot do anything about refunding the money that I spent on the additional account and I would have to jump through hoops in order to get things squared away. They were very nice, however the whole experience is a bit tedious that they are suggesting. Sadly I like the VPN which is all I really wanted but this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth and I am looking at other VPN options to see if there’s anybody better..Version: 8.5.5

Recently I noticed that whenever I log on, I am faced with an offer to subscribe to an annual subscription of premium servers. Differentiation of servers did not exist when I started so many years ago. Why is it that you cannot keep to agreements. When I signed up for the lifetime subscription all servers were opened to me. ✓ Don't bother, poor service poor supportNot only performance for this vpn is poor but support is useless. I had many issues and their only advice is "reconnect several times" no actual help. When you question them, they say "it works for us". Their own application while connected to specific server, shows completely different country...their response "it works for us"... ✓ Love the Unlimited VPN...but the software is buggy and fatally flawedI purchased the lifetime Unlimited VPN service with 10 seats and it has worked well (for the most part) other that the fatally flawed bug that freezes your system and blocks all access to WiFi every couple of days or so. The problem seems to be that on a regular basis, when it has been running for a while, if the iPad or iPhone goes to sleep with the app active, when you come back to resume your session, the app reports that there is no internet connection - and there isn’t (because the VPN App is blocking access. You cannot shut down the app at this point. A reboot - even a cold boot - reloads the app in its’ frozen state. The only way to recover from this lockout failure (the fatal flaw) is to delete the app. As soon as you delete this app, WiFi will be restored (without rebooting or restarting or otherwise reconnecting to your WiFi) proving that the problem lies in the app and its’ integration into the iOS system. If you don’t mind this happening up to you, download and use now - otherwise I’d recommend waiting for an Update that fixes this fatal bug or use another App or secure browser instead..Version: 4.19

For example: it won't let me simply turn it off. If I want to turn it off or insists that I trust the network I'm on. It tries to connect when I’m on data and not WiFi only it can’t connect because there’s no internet. So it just stops everything. I can’t get any pages to load. You can’t disable it because it won’t let you so I have to completely delete the app to use my phone. On WiFi it only works when it wants. Same issue as with the data where it says there’s no internet even though I’m connected and then I can’t do anything. Very frustrated. ✓ Decent VPN service - mediocre appI’ve used VPN Unlimited for a 5+ years now. The service itself is pretty solid. They keep updating their encryption protocols, and Wireguard is absolutely the best. My two star deduction is for app functionality. The “whitelist” never works properly for cellular data when ‘Connect On Demand’ is enabled. There’s been minimal updates/new features added: mostly just bug fixes. How about adding Siri Shortcuts, for example? Since the whitelist doesn’t work correctly when I get on cellular, I have to manually turn off my VPN everyday for my commute home. Instead I could set a Siri Shortcut to run as I leave work to automatically disable the VPN until I arrive at my destination. I don’t understand why developers don’t integrate better with Siri Shortcuts. If you want a good VPN service, I certainly would recommend this one, but would NOT recommend the in-app subscription. Way overpriced! You can actually buy a lifetime subscription for $40-$60 via SocialStack very frequently. I recommended this option to both family members and friends..Version: 8.4.7

I was particularly fond of being able to turn it on/off with 3D Touch. I use it in my iPhone 6S+, iPad 4, & MacBook Pro. But lately I’m having constant problems with it hanging in an “updated status” loop. Only way out is to go deep into settings to the VPN profile and disabling “connect on demand”. While I was having a good experience, it seemed like the occasional hiccup was mostly due to the location or network I was connecting to. However now it is consistently problematic across all networks both public and private and cellular AND across all three platforms. My subscription renews in three weeks. If these issues are not resolved I will be moving on..Version: 4.12
