Pedometer++ for Negative User Reviews

JoAfter the last update my steps no longer show accurately on my Apple Watch unless I go into the Apple Health app and manually add them..Version: 5.3

Out of syncPedometer ++ remains a wonderful tool. I’m surprised I hadn’t previously reviewed and rated. I’ve had a 5-star opinion of it up until the recent 3.4.5 update. Currently, toward the end of each day, I’ve observed that the count on my watch is always lower than the count on my phone. Yes, I’ve given plenty of time (and some app restarts) for the two to sync up. In reality it’s probably only a minor inconvenience since the phone app is where the long term log is kept and I believe it holds the accurate number of steps. But it is annoying when the watch is telling you there are still a few hundred steps left to go to reach your goal, but you have already met your goal as reported by the phone app. While I’m here, I will also lament the fact that the series 4 infograph modular face complication is inferior to the complication for the old modular face. It only has a progress ring where as the old complication also included the actual step count and distance displayed inside the ring. I would really like that back..Version: 3.4.5

App Complication BrokenI have been using this app for several years to track my steps on my Apple Watch Series 6 but after the last iOS and Watch OS 10 update, the steps are no longer automatically syncing and updating on my watch complication. The app needs a serious bug fix right away..Version: 5.3

Mileage is very inaccurateI’ve been using the app for over 2mos, helping to motivate me to walk 4+ miles and over 10,000 steps at least 6 days/wk. So that’s the good part and why I gave it a 2 stars. But I’m disappointed because it’s very inaccurate, at least when it comes to mileage. My husband and I were on a walk recently, I asked him how far we walked. His Apple Watch recorded just over 5mi (he started with 0mi) but on my iPhone with this app, I had just over 4mi (I started with .2 mi that day). We’re on the exact same walk. I didn’t understand how I could have 20% less mileage. I later mapped our route and it was 5 miles. Today is the same thing, except we’re on a 4 mile route. This app on my iPhone said I’ve done 3.3 (I started with .3) but my husband’s Apple Watch had 4mi. So this time, I’ve got 25% less mileage, even more inaccurate. Now, I’m questioning if the step counter or stairs on the app are accurate. At least it isn’t over counting but I don’t understand how can this app performs so poorly?.Version: 4.8.3

Review sendingThis is the first App. I have been able to able to use. I’ve never use the pedometer before it seemed at first easy to put the basic settings in but then I started walking with other people Who had Pedometers they did not seem to agree. Sometimes I have done 12,700 steps and says 7.5 miles but other times I did over 17,100 Steps and It says it has only reached 7.0 miles! This is why I wanted to check the settings had not been changed ! I have no idea how to sort this problem out? But thank you for letting me have a go, but I don’t think I will continue with the erratic results I am getting..Version: 4.6.2

PedometerThis pedometer is not accurate,I have increased the distance I am walking each day for the last 3 days pedometer still reads 1.9 miles each day even though I am walking more the 3 miles.Version: 4.7.3

Not accurately tracking my stepsI downloaded this app so I could see my steps on my Apple Watch. It was working great but now it is not syncing with my phone and my steps are incorrect compared to what is showing on my watch..Version: 5.3

Lost 5+ years of date, history, achievements....After a regular recent update I lost 5+ years of date, history, achievements.... no response from support..Version: 3.4.4

I understand subscriptionsWith the latest 5.0 update there is now an updated workout mode locked behind a subscription. Subscriptions are fine, I totally get app developers wanting steady income, but there really should be a way to allow us to turn off the workout tab since without the subscription it makes the screen look messy..Version: 5.0

Already paid for no adsWhy are they appearing again? Yes it’s another new phone when old one died and was replaced. Data was transferred from old phone(s) so why do I still have adds?.Version: 4.5.3

Worked until it didn’tI’ve been using this app for two years, since I replaced my Fitbit with an Apple Watch. Why the Apple Watch didn’t have this built in I will never know. For the most part this worked great. But late last year I started noticing weird bugs. It wouldn’t update unless I closed out of the app on both devices, then they wouldn’t sync properly. Then it would say I got my steps, but the next day it would say I didn’t. Breaking streaks. It was sporadic and seemed to fix itself for a while. Then in August this bug reappeared and broke a 280+ day streak. Considering I had my own reasons for this goal every day, it was extremely frustrating. I reached out to support and got basically an “Oh well, start again. Must have been something you did.” Now the app freezes up all the time and I’m done. I moved on to a different app - that also has a cheaper subscription per year if I decide to go that route..Version: 5.2.3

Loving it and hating itLove this app when it works, which seems utterly random. Sometimes it counts my steps, other times I can take hundreds of steps and the count stays the same. I have been up and down my 13-stair flight of steps at least 9 times today; it counts 1. Yesterday it was counting my flights just fine. I’ve been using this for less than a week. I love the overall interface and on the days it decides to work I love the motivation to be more active. It is just so frustrating that my phone - always hooked to my waistband in the same way - randomly withdraws that motivation and makes me want to just chuck the whole idea. On the plus side, I am getting tons of step exercising done today, as I deliberately go up and down and up and down, trying to get the stupid thing to acknowledge my effort. I was delighted at first, but will probably hunt for a different app. 🙁.Version: 4.3.1

Awesome, but would love one more optionUPDATE as of 4/4. I have gone 45 days without missing my goal. No rest days with that 45 days and another 25 ( with one rest day) and bc this my kids are in spring break, broke streak bc I didn’t didn’t hit goal 2 out three days.) I am a stay at home and I run 5-8 miles a day. I try to keep my phone in pocket at all times. I don’t, but if I did was easily put in at least 20,000 steps per day. I like the rest day option, but if I take two days off after being consistent for 20+ days my streak is broken. Would also love to have a sick day button. I’ll have an amazing streak and if I get sick, I obviously don’t get all my steps in. One time I tried to get at least 10,000 steps in with the flu and that was a big mistake. My bad decision though. A sick button would be great and also, if the app could identify a very active person and if that person misses two days in a row after making daily goal and then some for at least 20 days, the streak would not be broken. I’d pay $10 a month ( maybe more) for this app if had more options as mentioned..Version: 4.9.2

Where did the complication go?Can’t see the distance and steps on my watch.. worked perfect before the upgrade..Version: 5.2.2

Step countThe step count is not accurate. I walk 4 miles, over 20,000 feet and this doesn’t even register 10,000 steps!!!.Version: 5.2.1

App consitantlt has wrong step and km walked dataFrom my math, both step AND distance are off by 1.53 times the actual amount moved according to the Apple health app. It’s been like this for several weeks, ever since I got the app. I don’t know why it’s ALWAYS consistently higher than what I actually walked. The app says 22,869 steps and 15.9km walked, however the data from the Apple Watch activity app says 14,901 steps and 10.36 km walked..Version: 3.4.6

Broken widgetsWidgets no longer work after the latest update - unfortunate..Version: 5.4

Missing DataAny App created by individuals rather than large groups should be encouraged and given feedback. So the chart is made of simple easy to understand systems. And the customisable bar to change the daily step number neat and simple to use. So why only 3 stars? Because there are huge chunks of data missing from the totals of some sections and some dates are outdated. What’s the point of creating Awards and Targets if it takes ages to reach them because the data is missing? Unfortunately reliability is missing and this App cannot really measure accurately any fitness target..Version: 4.8.1

Was working now it’s notSuddenly the app is not logging my steps properly. Don’t know what happened.Version: 5.2.1

I Don’t Know WhyWhat are floors? So far after using them for well over a year I have no idea what they mean or how they are at all useful. I can go on a hike with a 4000 foot elevation gain and collect no more than 30 floors. Then I can go on a local hike near the house with relatively no elevation gain and get 60 floors. Maybe it’s just me, maybe I’m just slow, maybe I need two years to figure it out. I also have some special awards that I have absolutely no idea where they came from or how to achieve them. One appears to be for something that occurred two years ago on a weekend humm... no idea. That leaves daily steps, accumulated steps, weekend awards, and monthly challenges bundled around a daily confetti graphics for a job well done. I get a ton more useful information from the Health app that came with my iPhone but it doesn’t seem quite as personalized as Pedometer++ so I’m still using both for two alternative purposes. BTW, we are soon going to be in to the second week of 2021 and there is no new monthly challenge for January. Maybe it’ll pop up with the next update..Version: 4.6

Disappearing StepsWhere do they go? Heavens knows! It’s clear that the developer has a keen artistic eye as Pedometer++ has the most aesthetically pleasing and easy to use UI than any other Pedometer App out there and I love and constantly use the widget functionality for quick measuring glances. I’ve had this app for nearly 3 years now and as a person who routinely reaches 10k+ steps from morning gym sessions alone, there is one glitch/flaw that has never ceased to plaque the apps flawless functionality from the get go: steps go missing out of no where or are flat out, not counted. Just in the passed 2 weeks, there are 4 days where the app has seemingly caused a significant number of my steps to vanish into thin air EVEN AFTER THEY WERE COUNTED IN THE APP; even verified by cross referencing to Apple’s Health app that will often show a higher number. Nearly 10k steps have seemingly bestowed upon me the absolute pleasure of ghosting my counter and this has been a consistent problem for the app since day 1. The only reason I don’t flat out delete the app out of frustration some days is simply because the UI is absolutely gorgeous and I don’t think any other apps on the market measure up to the beautifully simplistic design. Please do something about the consistent step counter glitch; it proves to be a demoralizing frustration more days than you would think.Version: 4.0.1

Frozen at 0 on Apple Watch after last updatePLEASE FIX! I’ve been using the free app for a couple years and love it (5 stars) but all of a sudden it’s stuck at zero on Apple Watch face. When I went to iPhone to check watch apps, it’s circling as if trying to install but won’t. I see there was a version update same day this stopped working for me..Version: 5.2.2

A Massive Let Down[23-SEPT-2018] I downloaded this app yesterday and expected this app to match the description/story but it doesn’t, it’s quite disappointing. Although the app only looked basic and simple without much to do, I expected to get what was advertised. There’s no wheelchair option - which would help during the times when I’m using mine. While it counts steps, it cannot recognise the difference between floors - it hasn’t been able to tell from my house, and there’s quite a lot of split level houses that many consider to be floors/levels. I’m guessing that it only works on multilevelled buildings. I’ve given a 2 star rating because it apparently counted my steps but even then, I’m not sure how accurate it truly is. I downloaded this app because of it being featured and advertising features that many other apps don’t have. But without it, it’s just as bias as those apps - such as: taking advantage of the disabled with lies, not providing services for the disabled and so much more. The reason why I don’t use these types of apps or services is because they don’t think of people with disabilities and/or are willing to lie to them, to get them to use it. Shame on you Pedometer(++ appears for the title in the App Store only)..Version: 3.3.1

Not working right on Latest watch updateWas great until I updated my watch. Then it stopped automatically updating my steps. I removed the app with the idea of reinstalling. Now I can’t reinstall. I have an Apple 4 watch..Version: 4.2.3

Used to be a great app but….Simple, reasonably accurate, a good and intuitive user interface and a nice set of displays on the Apple Watch. However, starting late yesterday the watch displays became totally non functional. On some watch faces the “complication “ says 0 steps and 0 miles regardless of reality. But if you tap on the complication you are brought to a page with accurate information. On other watch faces the complication is totally blank or greyed out and you may or may not be able to tap into the pedometer app data. The phone app works fine. I have no clue if the watch is even recording steps anymore if I’m not carrying the phone. And the inability to read progress on the watch face itself ruins the user experience. I don’t know if this is the result of a recent update to the Apple operating system (watch or iPhone) or to the app itself. Regardless, it is very disappointing. If not fixed soon I will need to search for a different app, although I certainly do not want to do so..Version: 5.2.1

Data not sendingThis has happening so many times now, so when the app has an update not always but many times my iPhone doesn’t send the data to my Apple Watch, it’s set up to automatically send the data but after updating my app today 1/3/23 it’s happened again, it isn’t sending data to my watch, so both are now out of sync with each other, please can you sort this problem out? I love the app otherwise, but this does annoy me!.Version: 5.0

Has stopped syncing properlyThis app started out strong for me, BUT it eventually stopped syncing my steps from my Apple Watch to my IPhone 11 properly. After 130 straight days of achieving my goal this app has not synced a single day properly and ultimately shattered my goal tracking..Version: 4.7.2

If 2 things are added it would get 5 starsI really like the app however, what would improve it immensely would be the following: 1) Once the day is over it’s not possible to view the previous day’s stats such as kilometres or floors unlike Fitbit. 2) My active day ends at about 2 a.m. yet at midnight everything resorts to zero steps once more. Why can’t we have flexible hours? Lots of us are still walking about after midnight - very disappointing that it’s so inflexible..Version: 4.7.3

Great app, with a flaw on Apple WatchThis app is a great way to easily track your steps daily without having to go through lots of data in the Health app. Unfortunately on the Apple Watch, when using the pedometer complication, steps show when the screen is ‘always on’. When you raise your wrist, step count just shows ‘- -‘. The only way to fix this is to restart your watch every day. I assume this is just a bug, as the complication used to work perfectly..Version: 4.8.3

A step backwardsThe recent UI update is awful. Over half the screen now taken up by numbers that would easily fit in the top third, while the bar graph is now tiny and practically worthless. Please fire whoever it was who thought this was an ‘upgrade’ and roll back the UI..Version: 5.0.4

Not too sureI’m not too sure about this app. It doesn’t give real time updates in the complications on my Apple Watch 8 instead I have to click the complication, change screens and then return to the mail watch dial. It then shows the updated steps. Also in the settings there is a permanent error warning telling me it can’t export data due to no email address in my iPhone. There is! Can’t find any info on correcting this. I would rather pay for an app that integrates fully. Pity..Version: 4.9.3

Not accurate-esp w/ longer distanceI’ve been using this app for about 85 days now. When I first started, I was walking short distances ( 1 to 1.5 miles at a time) and it seemed pretty accurate and matched up with my treadmill pretty well +/- .1 miles. Now that I’m up to longer distances, it’s wildly inaccurate. Yesterday, I did 6.5 miles on my treadmill alone, yet it gives my daily total as 6.2 miles. Already today, I did a 3 mile treadmill session yet it says I’ve done 2.8 miles total. And it’s not just the distance—it’s the steps. My standard, tested and counted mile is 2100 steps. Yesterday, after three miles on the treadmill, I expected to see approx 6300 steps, but it was at 4500. I get a more accurate reading if I pause the treadmill every mile and open the app, but that’s annoying. It also fails to clock some of my flights of stairs. I wear my phone in the same spot as I always have while walking around so I don’t understand why the sudden discrepancy. I suppose if you’re just using it to clock your daily steps at home / work / shopping, it’s pretty good, but it if you’re also running or walking for exercise, your step count will show up greatly under your actual total..Version: 4.7.1

Need moreI need to have more things to achieve. The reason I have the app are for challenges. Challenges that are achievable. Once I reach 1m steps the next tick of approval I get is at 5m. Too long and too hard. I need something to be reaching for on a regular basis. Competing against myself. Getting a congratulations sign. Patting myself on the back. Questioning why I have slowed down. I want to have more pies to fill. It is a Good start but has Much more it can achieve..Version: 4.4.1

Its okThis is one of those apps that wouldve been like $5 to buy back in the days before subscriptions existed. I can’t stand that. Its a good app, and you can definitely get by with the free version, but for those who want a little more the cost is outrageous. And I might feel better wearing it if it at least gave us more options. Why am i not able to adjust the time periods? When I’m working a night shift (at the moment I’m working 4 on 4 off- two day shifts and two night shifts) which means i have to add and divide my last three readings into two to get my actual step count. Pure laziness on their part. Disappointing for what they want to charge for premium. Like changing the icon to some ghost-man is soooo cool (not) but jfc, give me some ACTUAL UTILITY!.Version: 5.1

Apple Watch battery life problems? I suspect this app.Since the last update my Apple Watch battery life has been severely reduced, plus the display is now too big for my screen and has to be scrolled a little bit. Obviously an error. I have the series four with large screen. My Apple Watch battery was **completely** drained today. This app was updated yesterday. I’m suspecting a background process that has gone haywire and is thrashing the CPU. I will do further testing, but looking at the additional display problems, I’m most suspicious of this app. I may ultimately have to uninstall and switch to another one, if not resolved soon..Version: 4.2.3

Streak of a year lost & support doesn’t careAt the beginning of me using this app I was fairly excited. It has rewards and gives me a Apple Watch app that motivates and keeps me on track. But after a while I noticed that some days didn’t quite have as many steps recorded as Apple Health shows. Sometimes it helped to have the app resynchronize with Apple Health but sometimes it didn’t. I learned to live with it, but not anymore. I set myself the goal of 7,500 steps every day and I almost managed to record a one year streak... and I kinda did, coz Apple Health shows that I did, but pedometer++ does not. According to the app, I lost my streak almost two months ago. But this is not true. And so I contacted the support. At first they gave me some basic instructions of resetting the Apple health sync. Which I did, but It didn’t help. Then they said they somehow misunderstood me and they can’t help me. I tried to explain my problem more in detail and asked if there is a work around, but I never got an answer anymore. I tried it again a week later. But crickets. Soo, the app is nice to have when it works. But it not always does and when it doesn’t, the support won’t help. Just be warned..Version: 4.4.1

Flawed System.I believe this is a flawed programme. I worked at home and according to to this I apparently did 7.9km and over 11,000 steps. Totally impossible when every other day I walk over a km to work and over a km back just getting to public transport?? That doesn’t include ALL the other walking in between. What ever you do do not wear your Apple watch whilst knitting. It counts the arm movement of working stitches as steps!.Version: 4.8.3

Inaccurate stepsI did 1.1km from walking back and forth to my kitchen a couple of times. Must think i have a big house... The steps are not accurate..Version: 3.4.5

Data not transferring from watch to appMy activity app and this app on my watch both match up basically the same in my daily steps every day however when I open this app on my phone it says I’ve done way less (and I do have the settings to transfer data) the only reason I got this app was to see steps on my watch home screen as for some reason it’s not an option to show steps on your watch (which is weird in Itself) but as the steps I see on my watch face are more accurate it does the job but it’s still annoying that they don’t match up.Version: 4.6.2

Just not the same anymoreI get how developers need to earn a living and monetise by placing ads in their apps - but this dreadful upgrade with ads in your face destroying the aesthetics of the visual appearance is a bad mistake. Yes you can pay your $30 annual fee to have them removed but why not use ads in a better way than interfering with overall look? It certainly won’t encourage me to pay for a better viewing experience. The data is important. But I can get that for free from Apple’s own step counting with health apps. After several years enjoying this app I think it’s time to ditch and move on now..Version: 5.0.2

InaccurateThis has become seriously inaccurate compared with other pedometers and map readings. It started about a month or so ago and has got no better. I will be deleting shortly..Version: 3.3.2

No iCloud backupThis app does not store data in my iCloud backup. So when I change phone, I don’t get my past steps and earned badges. Exporting data is unlikely in case this phone needs to be restored on a new iPhone for any reason☹️.Version: 4.4.1

Great appI used to use a watch for this but I have my phone in my pocket all day at work so thought I’d try it, seems this is much more accurate than any other I’ve tried but be careful of your stride length that needs to be spot on for accuracy!! Happy walking peeps 🙌✌️ UPDATE………….. now 2 stars due to the steps being half recorded, used go’s and my stride on Samsung health and that was saying twice what the pedometer says, so settings on both were exact same, I double checked for any differences but nope, pedometer doesn’t count up and down stairs properly, I like in a flat 3 stories up but pedometer will say I’ve been up and down 2 levels! Stupid in my opinion! I do 6 as day not counting visits to grind living in flats so 1 star now a after contemplation! Use Samsung health for a decent gps system, uninstalling this ASAP!!.Version: 4.8.1

Missing steps/ mysterious floors addedThe app started out great. It wasn’t until my daughter got it also that I realized that it was not counting steps properly. It keeps saying that I have less steps than her yet I’m up hours before and hours after she goes to bed and I do all kinds of work and walking compared to her. That makes no sense. Then a few days ago I had 6400 some odd steps, I went to Walmart and walked around there for an hour because of the heat, when I came out it told me I had 6102 steps. There’s no way it should’ve been well over 7000 steps. It also tells my daughter that she’s went up however many flights of stairs each day, when she is with me all day and has not went up a single flight of stairs. I don’t know what is going on with the app. I understand it’s free and I appreciate that, but in order to get the correct amount of what’s going on I would hate to have to use a different app and I’m not able to use a different app in order to pay. I don’t know if this has come to your attention before. Like to thank your app designers and workers for doing a great job, and hopefully they will be able to fix this issue. Thank you..Version: 4.4.1

Can’t see steps and distanceSince last ios upgrade, i can’t see steps and distance on apple watch faces. Just black box, and i have to click on it to see something. thanks.Version: 5.2.3

Too expensiveIn the good old days, this app would cost $.99. I would pay that in a heartbeat, but three dollars a month forever, forget it..Version: 5.4

Watch app continuously opens itselfThis app is horrible on my Apple Watch Ultra. It keeps opening itself unprompted, and when I close the app it immediately reopens itself. This happened occasionally on my old Series 4, but on the Ultra it’s happening many times a day..Version: 4.9.2

UpdatedI updated the app and now I can't use it. It won't open please Fix..Version: 5.2.1

Pedometer Review and suggestionRelatively new user-would have given 31/2 stars. Finding it useful and prefer it to my previous wrist worn device except I would like the ability to add stair flights and counted steps when I have to recharge my device. Yes, I used to count steps with Astro counting clicker I still use.Version: 4.7.1

Would be great if it worked properly. This app gives you achievements for things like meeting your step goal a certain number of times, or taking a certain number of steps in a day. That’s great, and it really encourages me to walk, moreso than just checking the number of steps on the Apple Health app. The problem is that it simply doesn’t work properly. Today I climbed a steep hill, and it granted me 0 flights of stairs. I climbed the same hill five minutes later, and this time it gave me four flights. I would have hit an achievement if it had registered the first trek up the hill, but it didn’t. And then sometimes it just randomly deducts steps I’ve taken. It credits them to me initally (and matches up with the Health app, so it seems to be an accurate number), then suddenly jumps to a much lower number. When I just checked my step count on the lock screen widget, it showed me 7900 steps, which is over my personal goal, thus giving me a 9-day streak. When I entered the app proper, it cut me down to 6449 steps, significantly below my goal and decimating my streak (and the April achievement). This is the third time I’ve seen this happen, and quite frankly, it’s the last. This app does me no good if it doesn’t accurately (or at the very least, consistently) track my activity. I’ll be deleting it and looking into alternatives..Version: 3.4.6

CrapDoes not work.Version: 3.3.2

Very DisappointedThis is the second time. For no reason all my previous records are gone. No where to be found. Nothing else missing on my 11 Pro Max. 😢😢 Now a third time lost all my data after almost 2 Years. And the last loss was on a iPhone Pro Max 15 so very very disappointed in this company. I’ve sent them emails with no response. 🥵.Version: 5.4

Watch gets frozen on 0 after midnight about 50% of the time.Seriously loved this app for my watch at first. After transitioning from a Garmin with the step counter, it was just what I needed to complement the ActivityTracker. However, I keep weird hours, and I am also a run streaker, who often has to do my daily run right at midnight. It’s incredibly frustrating when my watch is frozen at zero day in and day out, and I have to reset it to her three times, and put it on the charger 2 or 3 times before it will finally start counting steps. The steps DO count on the app phone, even if my phone is still, so obviously the app on the watch is tracking the steps, but it will not show up on the watch, where I need it to show up. Currently, my watch shows me to be at less than 500 steps, but my phone shows that I’m closer to 3000. I was wearing the watch while I ran on my treadmill at midnight, but the phone was sitting still on the treadmill. That means that I’m still dependent on my phone to know how many steps I’ve taken, which is pointless. That’s a discrepancy that will not work for somebody who manages statistics the way I do. The entire reason that I have the watch is so that I don’t need to carry my phone. If this can be fixed, I will change my rating to 5- stars..Version: 3.3.2
