✓ Sadly DisappointedFirst I would like to explain why I rated the app a 1..when I initially downloaded the app I was over the top ecstatic! It was everything I was looking for, I liked it sooo much that I told a lot of family and friends about it because I felt they could benefit from such an amazing app AND THEN everything went downhill.. I was no longer able to choose my meditation options (other than the standard 2min) I also couldn’t use any of the other features as well without PAYING! Soo for this reason i give it a 1 because I no longer have a use for the app bc I’m not going to pay.. the app should just charge ppl from the beginning because the little I can do without paying is not benefiting me at all...I will be removing this app as soon as I’m done with the review. For those who are willing to pay...The app has a lot of great features and content.. If you are considering paying, the SHORT trial period should allow you to make the best decision for u.. in my opinion there are too many FREE bible/prayer/meditation apps that offer way more features than this one; the free apps may have additional features u can purchase BUT the free features u do get are enough for me to receive what I need (prayer,devotionals, meditations,etc) I do commend the creators of the app BUT as mentioned before, I think u should charge for the app from the beginning bc the trial is 1) not long enough and 2) the free content given is not enough for meditation or prayer.Version: 1.18
✓ Nice ideaThis is a great idea, especially for someone like me who’s a restless sleeper, but I just don’t see the point in charging for a subscription. ✓ Fix this appI’m very discouraged about the technical difficulties I’ve experienced with this app. It should have zero stars. Despite looking like a great app, I can’t even get past the first page, since when I enter my email and click continue nothing happens. Scrolling through previous reviews (some from over a year ago...) I’ve found the exact same problem has happened to many others. I’m not sure why after countless complaints this malfunction hasn’t been fixed...? I think the app developers just need to be more diligent. It’s ridiculous, and in the end you’re so tired from trying countless times that the app is no longer appealing. N.B. ✓ Jesus loves us unconditionallyThank you so much for sharing this meaningful meditation on how Jesus wanted to see the children. No matter how busy he was He wanted the children to come to Him. Their sincerity and spontaneity is what Jesus loved but also Jesus loves all and everyone of us. We don’t need to EARN it like the world treats us. In this messed up world that we live in it is so very hard to grasp the concept that you are loved period. In this world where it’s all about working to earn a salary to feed your family it’s so very stressful. ✓ Disappointed, Deceived.I really loved this app. I have used several different meditation apps but I always wanted something that included prayer, so this was an exciting find. However, I had absolutely no idea the app was a short trial, followed by being cut off from the guide you were in the middle of (and ALL guides and daily meditations except for the short snippet ones) unless you pay a monthly/annual fee. There was no indication of that until it switched for me. I felt completely deceived in a moment I was ready for quiet prayer ☹️ Listen, I understand that app development isn’t free. But it breaks my heart that others will feel the same- excited about Christ and time with him, and then mislead into a rabbit hole profit machine. Too much of our daily lives is already like that! If I had known it was going to cut me off (ex: when I opened it said “2 days left in your trial..”), I would have felt differently. I probably would have donated the fee to sponsor the app (like many Christian radio stations) or subscribed if I knew ahead of time and could have made the decision. But being cut off with no warning and asked to pay money to listen to the day’s daily meditative prayer felt just all kinds of wrong. Like pay-to-pray. ✓ App music starts by itself at any time day or night!Love the app BUT even if it helps me fall asleep and the audio stops after the requested time…a couple of hours later the music will start again out or the blue and wake me up ! You can imagine how serious this is considering I’ve paid quite a high price for Abide TO HELP ME SLEEP! 😓Same thing happens in the morning or anytime of the day if I let the app waiting in background. ✓ GlitchyI really love this app for my kids, but it is very glitchy, it crashes often, and the choices of songs flicker often making it almost impossible at times to choose one as they move all of the time on iPad. ✓ ReviewThis app is very frustrating. I like the messages I'm hearing. I like the praying. It's definitely all positive. However, to call this app a meditation app is a big stretch. I already know how to meditate, but for someone who is new to the concept, this app would be really confusing. There are no explanations or guidance on how to meditate, only short pauses where you're told to meditate. The pauses are not nearly long enough & because I know the narrator is going to speak again soon, I'm often anticipating his interruption instead of being able to focus on the "meditation." I think this app would be more beneficial if the narration was less & the pauses for meditation were more than a few seconds, perhaps a few minutes would be better. An introduction on "how to meditate" would also be very helpful. Meditating with God is so important & He tells us to do so. If there is too much talking & not enough meditation it becomes something else, a lesson or a sermon, which are great things, but I was hoping to be guided in spiritual meditation. ✓ Great but demotivated rewards systemFirst let me say that I absolutely love the devotions and the way the topics are laid out in case you have a specific need. The quality of the content is fantastic. However there are two downsides that need to be resolved. While it’s interesting that you can see how many continuous days you have done your meditation, it’s very demotivating if you’ve been going for 30 days and then you are on a vacation or travel somewhere you cannot download the daily meditation and it starts you all over again at zero. This is not encouraging, in fact it’s the opposite and makes you frustrated and feel bad. I read recommend a better way to track and make you feel as if you’re winning rather than getting in 30 days correct missing one day and being penalized. They should be looking at what’s best not telling you you’re failing if you miss simply one day of meditation and devotion and start all over again. Second issue which is far more important is the inability to download a week at a time. I do missionary work in developing areas of the world where there is no Internet. If you look at other solutions such as our daily bread it allows you to download the entire month at a time. There should be an easy feature to provide it is absolutely necessary..Version: 1.19.3
✓ Unfailinglove1014DISAPPOINTED..😪 I absolutely loved the app in the beginning, and all the meditations offered! However I did not know that this was a trial. I also didn’t know you’d only get a limited amount of meditations once the trial was over. My understanding was that I was getting unlimited meditations for free, they should have said from the beginning if it’s not. If it was a free app though and all the meditations were open to everyone, this app would be fabulous!! However I really have no use for it now because I can only get a 2min meditation. I do realize that you are a ministry, and so it’s be harder for you to make your app free. However, I think it would make more sense to have people pay at the beginning for the app, so you don’t come across as deceiving.. Even if you made some of the meditations unlocked per category, and other meditations locked to where people pay for those. Some apps only give a certain amount of items. I would not make it to where I’m just offering one meditation though that’s 2min, then show all the rest locked. I found this app back in summer 2019, I absolutely love the content however every time I try to sign up, it won’t let me past the sign up stage. I notice many users had been experiencing the same thing and the default response was always reporting the crash and what not. I am writing this in March 2021 and it’s still not fixed yet. Getting bit frustrated me x Please let me know if there’s a specialised customer service for this as I remembered enjoying the daily devotion and planning to take things further with Abide. ✓ App won’t let me subscribeJust downloaded this app and thought this was just what I needed, but the app only lets you listen to one 2 minute prayer and that’s it. I wanted to subscribe, and it only lets you put in your email address then stops there and you can’t get any further! I will keep checking this week if any changes, but think it’s likely I will have to remove app. Hopefully this problem is fix been on they’re support page and they advise to set up the subscription online and not the app with Apple Pay which I’m hesitant to do and probably won’t. Also unless you are wanting to subscribe the content is extremely limited ie.. a single prayer, which doesn’t really give a true experience of what I believe the app could bring to your life..Version: 1.54.0
✓ Soo disappointedI want to start off saying I LOVE THIS APP, it’s absolutely incredible!! *BUT* I am highly disappointed that it’s not free or even a lower cost. I wish I knew that before hand. ✓ Really HelpfulI am really enjoying Abide. I love the options of how long to meditate. I'm addicted to the rain sounds! So soothing as I reflect on scripture. The prompts/guides make focusing on one verse and really diving in, great! I like the journal available if I want to use my iPhone to journal (usually I use my paper journal, but this is great in a pinch). I find my days have been calmer as I have been meditating early. It's really helpful and simple. Not a lot of commercials or other purchasing suggestions. I feel like this is good uninterrupted time. ****I am updating my review and taking off two stars because now that I've been using Abide, and really enjoying it, the App has locked me out of the options for 5, 10, and 15 minute sessions and left only the two minute rushed option. There's not really a chance to meditate when it's so rushed. Even the water sounds and the voice over sounds rushed. This wouldn't be a big deal if the app were like, 2.99. ✓ Right out of the gate...I’m surprised with the fact that the app description describes an annual fee of $30 which I’m already quite hesitant to pay not because it’s overly expensive, in and of itself, but because there are several Membership situations out there that accumulate to a lot of money per month (e.g. Netflix, Spotify and this app, or that app etc.). Regardless, I thought I’d give it a one year try (as two weeks is simply not a long enough trial period in these modern days of busyness) . So, when I downloaded the app and got to the page that suggested a membership, the fee was $40 not $30 as advertised. Keep your advertisement current people! Perhaps, also take a lesson from the TV and music apps. They give access to limited content which allows the new user to choose if they want more but can also enjoy some of the content free from fees. Perhaps you don’t need the business but I think in this way you might also get more subscriptions. Also, TV apps give a longer trial period. I think that this is better for a person trying to make a decision whether or not they’re going to invest in yet another application that requires a subscription. And, for the company’s potential benefit, might also give the person trial’ing enough time to fall in love with it and want to subscribe. ✓ App won’t let me past the login stageCurrently the App is faulty. When it works, it’s helps me a lot getting closer to God and I really like it. Maybe a few more plans could be added but so far so good. I’ve been unable to log in into my account for 2 months although I’ve paid for the service. After speaking with the support person, she’s very nice and friendly. However, I think that maybe there could be more people to deal with customer requests. ✓ Just a few annoying thingsI love the app but there are just a few annoying items. First, the speakers often say Father God instead of just God or God the Father. It’s annoying when you’re about falling asleep you feel really relaxed and enjoying the meditation or sleep story but then they say “father God” and it drives me nuts and wakes me up. I never heard of father God until I had the app. He is foremost God so just say that. In another sleep story I was getting really relaxed and enjoying the story and just about to fall asleep when the narrator said James the brother of Jesus 🤦♀️ that woke me up completely and I had to change the sleep story. I can go into why that is biblically not correct, but that’s not the point. I was hoping they would leave the difference between Protestant and Catholic references out of their stories. Those are the two main things that I wish they would change. It may be small, but when they jolt you out of your meditation it’s kind of counter active to what you’re trying to accomplish. Another suggestion I would like to see is a place where I could find the actual prayers in text format. Some of them are really outstanding and I would like to read them during the day. Overall I would recommend this app, but if you’re Catholic you may find a few annoying things too much. ✓ Not really meditation, more like a devotional appI am a Christian counselor and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. I am keenly aware there are spiritually dangerous meditation practices/apps out there. I was thrilled to see a Christian meditation app and more than happy to pay for this service and to support the ministry for others. I also thought it was very clear, not at all deceiving that it was a self pay app and a fair price for the potential benefit. However, I think it is not really a meditation app for a few reasons. First we are to meditate on the word of God and this is a lot of talking by someone else. Second, it is waaayyyy to fast and busy for real meditation and experiencing the presence of God. My brain processes things pretty fast, but not this fast. So I end up trying to focus on each word as it rushes past and getting mostly just frustrated. Third, there is no time or coaching to train the mind to the present using sensory prompts. If we are not in the present we are not experiencing God fully since we are only alive in the present moment, unlike Him who is eternally present. I really wanted this to provide me all those supports for truly abiding with Him and I am sad it did not. Thank you for your ministry and the passion for the Lord that drives it. ✓ DangerousThis is skirting a very dangerous line. In no way are we to appropriate the eastern religious form of meditation, focusing on breathing and relaxing our minds. Biblical meditation is very specific and deliberate; and as far as I can tell, this app doesn’t have any teaching on what biblical meditation is and isn’t! This has the potential to lead many into the wrong kind of meditations while thinking it’s okay because “it’s similar to the meditations in this app, and this app is Christian so it’s okay isn’t it? I’m using God’s name so it’s okay isn’t it?” Just because we add God to something doesn’t suddenly make it biblical. New age practices like this are sneaking into the church, and it’s not okay. Watch videos on law of attraction by Nastasia Grace, for example, to see just how we can be deceived as Christians by cherry picking and twisting scriptures to support truly unbiblical practices with unbiblical origins (who twisted scripture in the Bible? The enemy, in the garden of Eden and to Jesus in the wilderness!). Starting with a practice and changing some of its details to fit God into it, doesn’t make it biblical. We start with the Bible first. And learn what “meditate” really is in the Bible before thinking that it’s the same as eastern style meditation. ✓ I like it but it’s super glitchy.As the title states, this app is really glitchy. I mainly just use the sleep portion of this app. I like the sleep scriptures and the sleep music more than the sleep stores in particular. Most of the guided meditations are short and that’s kind of annoying. They’re really hit or miss. It’s especially annoying when using it for sleep because I’m not feeling the one I’ve chosen then I have to go back and choose another and start the process over again. The thing that bothers me most with the app - and the only reason I’m writing a review - is that it’s really glitchy and I’m hoping that will prompt the creators to do something about it. I had to reboot the app so many times and it would still freeze and act glitchy a lot when I first started using it. I thought it was maybe because I was using the free version so I purchased the full subscription - something I never do - but I really did enjoy what of the app I had experienced. ✓ Went off thisSadly I went off this Bible App as I found the “meditations” more in the irritating style of a “pep talk” rather than a meaty contemplation of God’s word. A lot of the content is too similar and I don’t like listening to music online with Wi-Fi running through my ears. No option to download the music means I can’t enjoy it. I find it all rather expensive too for the amount of similar content you get. The bedtime stories would probably suit a child more. Probably best suited to very new Christians..Version: 3.15.0
