Reading Eggs - Learn to Read for Negative User Reviews

They're lucky that there isn't a zero star option. This is the worst "LEARNING" app ever. It just lets your kids play games that don't educate them in any way what so ever, and then it glitches, giving your child a reason to cry and scream. It just makes your kids angry if they don't get it right. It makes your kids redo lessons for no reason, over and over, until they get angry enough to throw a molitove cocktail at the screen and laugh as burns to the ground. I highly recommend you not getting the app as it will just make your kids want to shove their fist into the screen of their or your device..Version: 2.3.0

NOT safe for children - wokeMy kids used this app for a while until I learned that this app is secretly pushing an LGBTQ agenda in the kids library. When searching the app for anything related to LGBTQ from the adult side there are no search results…. I tried the same search term from the kids side and there were suggested books… cancelled my subscription then and there. Go woke go broke..Version: 4.0.0

It's a good app but..I was recommended this by my sons teacher. My 6 year old played it and got bored very quickly. It is set up in a way that a level of supervision is required to play. It is definitely all about “lessons” and not “let’s have fun and play games!” (while learning). A child should be able to log on and get straight to it with the adult information hidden away. The egg theme and animations have a nursery feel and to a 6 year old who is into monsters and dinosaurs this is not exactly enticing. The content is really great, but there are other similar apps which deliver a much better sensory feel overall - at least to my 6 year old..Version: 2.3.13

A disaster for struggling readersMy son completed all 120 lessons of Reading Eggs when he was in Prep/Year 1. However, when tested in Year 2, he couldn't read simple CVC words reliably. I knew from about half way through that he couldn't read the readers, but he seemed to pick up the gameplay fairly well and passed the quizzes on his own. The program allows repeated guessing and doesn't have a structured synthetic phonic approach recommended by reading researchers (Science of Reading). Yes, it's fun, but please don't waste your time/money if you have any worries that your child is struggling with reading, especially if you suspect dyslexia..Version: 3.5.1

Keeps freezing very frustratingI like reading eggs, I homeschool my children and I use it daily as a part of their learning. Problem is of recently It keeps freezing. I think it may have bugs and I would like if this could be sorted or I may have to consider unsubscribing and finding another app to use as having to close the app and restart it is becoming very frustrating. For this reason today I have to give it 3 stars. In past review I gave 5..Version: 3.0.7

Letter sounds pronounced incorrectlyMy son really enjoys using this app as he has a fascination with letters and the alphabet. I found the app disappointing from a phonetic perspective (I have many years of teaching experience specialising in phonics) as lots of the letter sounds are not pronounced correctly, meaning blending is difficult for children using the app. For example, F should be a long, stretched out sound, and the app pronounces it as “fuh”. Many of the letter sounds are also pronounced in a similar way. Annoyingly my son has now started copying this despite knowing all of his letter sounds really well. If you are going to promote reading skills with young children, you really should check in with professionals, as teaching phonics in this way will make blending sounds to read words more difficult than it needs to be down the line. I also feel like the monthly subscription is extortionate, especially when there are much better apps available to support early reading (which use the accurate letter sounds) with a one off payment. Thank you for the free trial, but unfortunately I will not be subscribing..Version: 3.3.0

No soundSometimes it’s no sound. So I have to restart the app. It definitely upsets my kids and gets annoying. I hope the can fix the problem.Version: 3.0.4

Impossible to cancel once you have signed upI have a reading eggs account that I signed up for before my kids started school, they have a school account thst they use now so we haven’t used the personal one in years. I don’t even have the login details anymore it’s been so long since we used it so I can’t log on there to cancel ,I email them and they say they’ll cancel then each month the new charge comes through. I wouldn’t recommend buying your own account, just wait until school starts and use that one..Version: 4.0.0

Average gameThe game is glitchy and only has sound 20% of the time. I pay for this app and am barely able to use it. I have tried it on a computer and on an iPhone. The computer will constantly glitch and my daughter can’t finish tasks and in turn she can not progress through the levels. The sound doesn’t work so for her it isn’t any fun if she can’t hear anything, my sound is definitely on. I am strongly considering canceling my subscription if they don’t step up their game and get these problems resolved. The actual activities are not bad and my daughter likes to play with it when it actually works..Version: 2.4.1

Waste of time and money. My son enjoyed learning to read with reading eggs, despite its many shortcomings. However, when the free trial ended, the money came out of my account, but the app doesn’t acknowledge that its been paid for. I uninstalled/installed it back, logged out/logged back in, tried it on different devices and it still says that my free trial has ended and I have to pay. I did pay. The reading eggs customer service is shocking. After I wasted my whole morning following their useless advice trying to make the app work, I was told that it can’t be fixed and to cancel my subscription on iTunes and to subscribe again through the website. I asked for a refund so I can resubscribe and I was told that’s nothing to do with them and I need to now contact the iTunes and explain the whole situation to them. They can’t issue refunds for iTunes subscriptions and they are pretty much not interested. The app is also very sluggish, often unresponsive and looks like it was designed in early 90’s. Login is required every time you launch the app which means my son cannot use it without my assistance. The sound comes and goes as it pleases as well. It’s been a while since I’ve been so agitated that I actually took my time to leave a review. Well done reading eggs 👏.Version: 2.3.7

Just one problem.....Hello I’m a child And there’s a problem with the app....WHY IS THERE A BUtton that says (buy now) I cant buy it. It may be expensive and I’m saving money please don’t put premium some kids that get that want to learn don’t get to bc of that button they maybe poor but please only put premium on the side for peps who wanna be a premium members but not where you press start please make an update it’s boring and the 5-7 is non learning only express and mathseeds the junior need to learn too so please make an update thank you for reading.Version: 2.3.13

Keeps crashingKeeps crashing on the iPad 6Gen.Version: 2.3.14

Great and awful, both at onceCould be improved with bug fixes. On the iPad (mine is an original iPad Air, so not exactly new) it works okay once you get used to its quirks. If it is minimized and then refreshed from a double click (choosing out of your running apps) the sound will be off, but this can be fixed by minimizing it and then restoring it from the icon. It can also be fixed by a hard quit and restart. On the iPhone [mine is an XR, newish but not too of the line] the sound starts on the intro video, but will be off for all activities. I have not yet found a workaround for this. My daughter *loves* the activities and games. As long as the sound is working. Her gestures during activities also sometimes minimize the iPad app, so the sound issue is quite frequent there, and it is completely unusable in the phone. If anyone knows a better workaround (or any workaround for the phone!) please let me know. These have obviously been issues for a while (there are a lot of reviews mentioning audio issues), so while I would like the developers to fix this, I don’t honestly believe they are going to. I still have 3 weeks left on my free trial month; I haven’t decided if the excellent parts outweigh the terrible parts or not. It’s a frustrating experience..Version: 2.3.13

XR userWe love reading eggs, and it works well on both of my daughter’s school tablets, but lately, the app for my phone has been having sound issues. I’ve checked the faq, I’ve deleted and downloaded again but the app still has sound issues. So we can’t always do on the go activities with this app. It’s the only problem I’ve had with reading eggs, other than that issue, reading eggs has been a complete game changer in how fast my 4 year old has picked up her phonics! My 7 year old enjoys math seeds and the eggs and games is more incentive to play. They both absolutely love the cute and colorful characters in game too! The free trial was amazing and I saw immediately how hast they took to it and learned from reading eggs! I hope you can improve the sound issues on iPhone users too tho!.Version: 2.4.3

Great but freezes a lotMy son loves many of the exercises in this app. He has just turned 2 and finds it entertaining and is always excited to play it. However, during an average 20 minutes session you can expect at least 3 freezes on loading... This means you have a manually kill the app, this doesn’t sound too bad, but you then have to enter your password and then navigate to where you left off, this is extremely annoying and really disturbs the learning process and fun. Please sort it out!.Version: 2.3.6

Sooooo slowWhen it works it's great software unfortunately most of the time it's very slow and then sometimes it's completely unusable would definitely not recommend to anyone looking for decent software to help their kids read..Version: 1.5.2

Good luck trying to cancel itAs the title says.... makes it easy to spend the money and very difficult to cut the subscription..Version: 2.3.7

Not financially accessibleMy children and I have enjoyed using Reading Eggs as support for our homeschooling, and I decided to fork out the money for another year, only to find that suddenly (just after paying), it no longer supports the version on Safari on our (older generation) iPad. Continually buying devices is not affordable for us just to keep up to date with operating systems and so I am now out of pocket from the program fees with very limited access to the program. This is particularly disappointing for a literacy tool as it excludes families and children who are at lower financial levels..Version: 3.3.0

Clumsy technical issues sometimes outweigh contentWe’ve been on/off reading eggs users for years. I can thank reading eggs for my son learning to read at the age of 3. However, it’s near on impossible to engage my youngest children with the learning to read content for a number of reasons. 1) the app/website is incredibly glitchy, clumsy and regularly crashes which means we are constantly having to reset. 2) there is TOO MUCH content for each letter level! When my son used to play the lessons were more short, sharp and to the point. Now there are endless repetitive games that combined with the technical glitches are off putting. Few 4 years old are interested in finding a letter in a word search grid 6 times, 3 times in a row! Please reading eggs, consider the age of your users and their attention spans! The games are fantastic and my youngest two mainly use those. I’ve just signed my eldest back up for reading eggspress due to the school closure. It would be great to have a maths element for children older than 9..Version: 2.3.11

Getting Worse Over the YearsWe have dipped in and out of Reading Eggs for the past few years and I cannot believe the issues we have had trying to run the app. My kids absolutely love the program but it's infuriating when it's freezes, fails to load, plays without sound or runs super slowly. The amount of times we are having to close the app and start again is laughable. We have tried on multiple devices and are running on the most up to date systems. I am shocked that we are having these issues with such an expensive subscription. For what we pay, this app should run seamlessly and each update should continue to improve it. So over it and ready to give up..Version: 2.3.5

ReviewMine glitched out and the sound stopped working on iPad. But it is great for learning..Version: 4.1.5

Good content but slow a buggyThe pages are very slow to load and the app crashes quite regularly. Sometimes after finishing an exercise, it just repeats the same level. Good but frustrating.Version: 3.1.6

App won’t openThis app was great well it worked. It has not worked for over a month still getting charged and no response to emails. I plan to cancel my subscription..Version: 2.3.13

Freezes constantly and sound cuts out.I’m on a free trial period and will not be purchasing a subscription until the app issues are fixed. The sound doesn’t work randomly and it is constantly freezing and stuck on the loading screen! It is so frustrating. My 4 and 3 year olds can not use this app on the iPad without it muting and freezing constantly. I have a brand new device and updated software and have followed all the troubleshooting advice but after reading hundreds of similar reviews I can see it is a common app issue. How about instead of trying to make us email the developers, they actually listen to the consumers and fix their issues and admit fault. It’s such a shame because it is a fantastic educational app, just absolutely useless on iPads and iPhones..Version: 2.3.11

Love the program, but the app is a mess! We’ve just started using the program and as a teacher and mother, I love it. Sometimes I find the math seed progressions awkward, but overall it’s the best program I’ve found. Unfortunately, the app has so many glitches. It’s always freezing or flat out refusing to open. Sometimes I have to just shut the iPad down and reopen and other times I have to delete and reinstall the app. It happens on both my children’s iPads, as well as my iPhone. I hope there’s a big-fix update soon to address these issues..Version: 2.3.14

Latest update crashes on launchAfter today’s update, the app quits out before the splash screen even completes..Version: 2.3.14

Love it but does need some minor correctionsWe love the app but as a mother and a teacher I think on some of the activities like when it comes to selecting rhyming words or spelling a word if a child realizes they accidentally clicked the wrong letter or picture or accidentally put the letter in the wrong spot they should be able to correct it instead of it permanently staying there until you just purposely finish the spelling the word wrong or clicking the another picture for it to restart. Also having the capital Letter “Ii” being shown in two different ways (the one you typically see on a ABC line and the version that looks likes lowercase “Ll”) confuses the child especially when they are matching uppercase and lowercase letters like on the train game and they are thinking they are seeing two “Ll”. You show them the word/letter one way in a game and in a different way in a later game. Also cutting the /uh/ sounds off on the quick sounds and when deciding and blending the words holding the non-quick sounds out longer than .5 sec so they can hear the word. Also adding test for sight words, rhyming, ABCs, sounds like how there are road test for math seeds and the different topics would be really cool or just adding a section for sight words for them to keep practicing would be amazing. Other than those minor issues we love the game..Version: 2.3.8

Worst game everWorst game ever!.Version: 2.3.12

Hardly ever workingAlways problems with the app. Problems loading etc often won’t open at all. Waste of money.Version: 2.3.13

WhyWhy do I have to consistently enter password it take me back to main page every time at the moment the app is unusable.Version: 3.0.3

Save the password!!!!!!!Okay so this review would probably get 5 stars from me except for the following reasons. This review is specifically about functionality on tablets/phone devices. The content is great the free printables and homeschool schedules are great. The design is simple and I like it IF you are mostly using a PC... for iPad/iPhone the user friendliness is less. Make it so the password is saved so I don’t have to re-enter it EVERY time! C’mon this is 2019 almost 2020!! We have the capabilities to do that easily now. It’s very difficult and annoying to enter the password every time! Sometimes it even makes me re-enter the password when the iPad goes idle or we leave the app (but it’s still open in the background and still running and logged in)! We love using Reading Eggs for our homeschool needs but for security and recent hacking reasons having a 16+ length password you have to enter every time gets really old really fast. Also the other reason is the app itself can be kind of glitchy and slow at times or even lags. It doesn’t do this on the PC... so some optimization needs to be done... Paying what we do for our subscription per year these are simple fixes... there are other learning apps and software out there with competitive pricing and content to be completely honest. If some of these simple optimization issues aren’t fixed in the near future, after our year subscription runs out I will probably switch..Version: 2.3.7

Bad learningDoesn’t help to learn, it’s too easy, make it harder, BAD APP also very slow and bad audio sounds ;-; don’t get this.Version: 2.3.12

Few Glitches, otherwise a good learning toolWhile doing the trial we encountered a few glitches that wouldn’t allow my child to complete an activity. It freezes a lot too. Other than that it is a good learning tool for children..Version: 4.0.0

Counter intuitive and buggyQuite counter intuitive to access settings to redo the reading test in order to change levels. Sound drops out randomly. On our current level there is no sound, rendering the app inoperable. Since update the sound issue is worse. Devs... please don’t ask me to send you an email to trouble shoot. This info given should be enough. Using current gen iPad with current updates. Yes I have turned it off and on. People wanting to purchase this product should read other reviews to make sure you are informed before purchase..Version: 2.3.5

Absolutely disgusting.I downloaded this application on my 5-year old sons iPad, since he was struggling with reading. He loved using it, and playing around with it despite some problems I will discuss later on, and I thought it was ‘okay’, until I discovered my son hadn’t improved his reading abilities AT ALL in the 2 weeks he’d been using it! Dreadful, waste of time. Another problem with this platform is the CONSTANT lag. My son couldn’t go 2 MINUTES without the game crashing! The software is clearly corrupt. I know this isn’t a complication with my sons device, since he had no difficulties using the device since now, also we didn’t have any issues with any other apps, at all. Long story short, this app is disgraceful to all the hard working creators assembling creative, and adequate educational apps. Its unbelievable that some individuals support this app, and I demand an apology for this unpleasant experience me and my son have had to go through downloading this..Version: 3.1.6

Still sound issues!I see that many reviewers have posted this in the past and the sound cutting out is still is a massive problem. We have all the latest updates, did all the things about locking rotation, checking bell icon and it continues to be so frustrating for my daughter to have completed an almost perfect test and then bam - no sound. Sometimes she will have to replay 6 or 7 times and by the end she is just tapping to get through it, not paying paying attention, as bored of having to try and complete it yet again. It’s really such a shame as it is a great app and couldn’t believe how excited and engaged my 4 year old was to use it, but this major issue often makes it unusable and is now leading her to give up sadly..Version: 4.1.0

So frustrating trying to make this workI spent hours last night, just trying to get mathseeds with reading eggs to work on my iPad. Finally working now.Version: 4.1.4

This is not freeIt says it’s free, it is Not.Version: 3.0.6

UnusableI can appreciate the idea behind the teaching techniques, however, the execution is terrible. Constantly crashes, sound dies intermittently and generally quite slow and clunky loading. No loader indication to tell you something is happening. Currently we can’t get passed map 3 quiz of reading eggs 3-7. No sound playing at all so we can’t hear or see any questions. We can see the answers! I can’t justify paying this subscription for something so buggy. My device is on the compatible list, all software OS up to date and have tried on countless wifi networks. The only app we have on this device with issues..Version: 2.3.5

Good if app actually opensWould be 5 star if app didn’t constantly ask for password or fail to even open. Another issue I have is the program doesn’t allow the child to correct a word as they’re spelling it. They should be able to correct their spelling then submit the answer instead of forcing them to spell the word wrong. We used reading eggs as our primary learn to read system but after experiencing the above mentioned problems even after fully uninstalling, I will not be renewing the subscription and will stick with Starfall unless this is corrected asap..Version: 2.3.14

Good but needs workLove the program but honestly getting tired of the sound not working on my phone. When I open it the intro video sound always works. Then when I click on the lesson there’s no sound. I’ve restarted my phone and it still wouldn’t work. It’s a day to day thing. One day it’ll work perfectly and the next day no sound. Can’t learn if the sound doesn’t work. With today’s technology and kids having tablets it would be helpful if this app worked properly so we don’t have to get out the laptop..Version: 2.3.9

Update means it can't openUpdated overnight and now the app won't go past the first video loading screen. Highly frustrating for my kid who wants to play..Version: 2.3.14

User InterfaceA lot of the text is way too small for iPhone. Some of the games don’t work to produce the correct answer, specifically bowling with the dinosaur as he always bowls into the middle lane and putting the correct number of zoo animals into their enclosures which doesn’t accept the animals being dragged over. With some improvements this app could be great but right now isn’t as good as some of the free ones are..Version: 2.3.11

HelloI know you guys like reading eggs, but I hate it.Version: 4.1.3

Love Reading Eggs but not the appHad the trial period and had a break before investing in a 12 month subscription forgetting that the app had issues. I thought it was because our old iPad was the reason for the freezes and pages do not load so I moved to my husband’s new iPad but tonight the same issues occurred where it freezes and it frustrates my children who want to learn. I suspected it was NBN but reading other reviews confirms it is the app. I hope there is an update soon to combat what me and others are experiencing..Version: 2.3.5

Not US versionI can not use this any longer. I sat with my son and noticed the math seeds lesson 104 was teaching measurement. It was in meters. We live in the US and we use inches and feet. The reading had words that we do not use here in us or use a completely different word for an object. Such as they showed a picture of a baby bed. Here in US we call it a crib. They wanted him to choose the word cot. I struggled at first thinking what are they teaching. I started with chat. She had no clue what to do she said it would be fixed by today. I checked it’s NOT fixed. I then sent a chat question. It was ignored. 7 hours latter I sent a question asking why I was being ignored. Finally someone asked what was wrong. I explained my situation. I downloaded it from the App Store on my iPad. I have always lived in the US. He was clueless as well. Said he would send a mail to the editor. I called support got an answering machine left message and no one has called back. I’m no longer going to pay the 9.99 till it is fixed..Version: 2.3.7

Not workingLogin not working. Account disabled frequently.Version: 2.3.13

Good but buggy - won’t go past lesson 97This has been great, but there is a bug on lesson 97 which freezes stops responding to pressing aeiou. Have deleted and reinstalled, same problem... most frustrating. - iPad Pro (2017) running latest iOS. Update 27 Jan 21 - in the phonics section, on what appears to be every activity screen recently (from around stage 18) there is a bug where there is a hidden box in the middle of the screen and if you touch the screen around that around to select a response/answer the box interferes as it thinks you are selecting it. It can normally be cleared by tapping outside of the area (but then it will come back as soon as you touch something near, the middle of the screen again. In stage 19 it is impossible to progress as it prevents you tapping the letter/s in the middle of the screen. This seems to be the same issue as reported above. iPad Pro running 14.3.Version: 2.4.1

Sound never worksWe had to keep resetting the app because the sound would go out constantly. We have 3 iPads and we can’t play any of them because we have in sound on any of them. I’ve reset and factory restored them but still no sound on reading eggs. All of our other apps work. So we’ve been paying the yearly subscription but are about 5 moths of use with zero sound on the app. I feel like we are being scammed and ripped off. They loved it until this happened. Now we can’t play it..Version: 3.1.4

Love all the way through to hateThis app has been a great help during homeschooling in lockdown. The app is great with the kids and they enjoy learning. I have seen a big improvement, especially in phonics and reading BUT The app is it is unreliable. The app closes itself down; now the app will not open at all, continually ‘loading’ or closing down when used on the iPad and my phone. Both with up to date installs. I am paying for a subscription that the kids can’t use! How do I get this rectified?.Version: 2.3.15

The worstIt makes me restart over and over again.Version: 2.3.13

Won’t openThis app was good for my 5yo but for the last month we haven’t been able to open the app. Message with “too many http “ and just a white screen, deleting and re-downloading didn’t work, I can’t find help on the website, such a waste of money..Version: 2.4.0

Too many errorsSome parts of this app are difficult to navigate and the app has reoccurring errors such as not opening the ‘activities’ section when it is selected but eventually opening after being clicked on several times also the audio doesn’t always work in the activities section or it may work initially then cut out - though still working in other parts of the app. These issues occur across the multiple devices we use the app on. Considering it is a monthly cost I would have expected a seamless experience. The games themselves are fantastic however the constant issues have made this a complete waste of money..Version: 2.4.0

Crashes as soon as it opensIt shows the Reading Eggs title at the start and then just crashes. After continuing to try open it, it keeps crashing before the title shows. It was working fine a couple of days ago..Version: 2.3.14

Sound bugsThe sound fails to work 9/10 sessions on my sons iPad. I am involved in games development, so initially I was quite sympathetic to the developers having an issue, however up further investigation it is clear this sound issue has been happening for years… most of the information on the developers website about the issue implies it happens due to user error or misunderstanding around how the iPad functions. This is not the case and it is time to get the development team to fix this issue once and for all. Frankly it is frustrating the developer is happy to take the subscription fee, but just leaves this issue hanging.. it is not ok..Version: 3.1.2

Where is the sound? One problem, I was using my headphones when I heard a word that I don't know(it was my teacher’s assignment). I turned off my headphones (mine is Bluetooth) and let my brother hear it but it didn't make a sound. He told me that if you do what I did, it wouldn't make a sound anyways. That's a glitch, so can you fix it? Or else I am going to do my assignment again. Other than that, I enjoy this app. That is all I would like to comment for ONLY today, unless I detect ANOTHER issue. 😌😊.Version: 2.3.13

Good tool but crashes a lotI installed this for both my boys a 6 & 3 year old and my 3 year old loves the junior section goes there on his own all the time (only 5-10 minutes a time) and has done most of the levels but hasn’t yet wanted to go on the actual lessons so he’s not gaining any data but coz he likes it I will continue with his subscription however my eldest only went on it once before saying it’s boring and has refused to go back on it. My issue is my youngest clicks something and at least 3 times a day it will stick on loading and we will have to load the app again..Version: 2.3.11

Stopped WorkingWe were loving this app, and my 6yo was doing great. All of a sudden (Nov. 5) the app just crashes upon opening. We can no longer access on my sons ipad..Version: 2.3.19

VolumeEverything else on iPad has volume except for this app which I paid for..Version: 2.4.3

Too Much, Not FunWe enjoyed this app a few years ago before 2020. I downloaded and paid for it myself, then when my Son went to school in 2020 I had to pay for it again through the school - with a school ID/username. We left that school and couldn’t access the app using his school log in credentials and my Son lost all of his work. On re-downloading and subscribing again recently the entire app has changed. I find it difficult to navigate myself: it’s not simple for my Son to move around, so we canceled. He is 8 but wants to go back to the earlier games to start afresh from where he used to play. Shame because it was a fun, enjoyable educational game-app for kids; now it’s stale and over the top academic. Learning should be fun and engaging and the research that’s gone into this app has been considerably blown up and selectively chosen..Version: 3.3.1

I hate itI hate this game on my mums ipad..Version: 2.4.0

Removed the main purchase optionIf we could keep going with the yearly rate we’ve been using the past 2 years then we would but now the only option is 9.99 a month which is nearly 50% more expensive. It’s a good tool but not when being gouged as an existing customer.Version: 3.0.1

My daughter loves it but...My 4 year old loves this app! However, there are some major connectivity issues. We have paid for the subscription (we have the iTunes receipt) but the reading eggs app won’t work as it says our subscription is expired. We have been emailing back and forth with reading eggs customer service and two weeks later we still don’t have this issue resolved (despite me doing everything the reading eggs support team has suggested). So here we are, paying for an app, we cannot access..Version: 2.3.13

The song thoughI’m playing PvZ and I keep getting this ad. That’s fine. But the song on the ad is so annoying I haven’t even used this app but the song is annoying get rid or it.Version: 3.0.1

Yuck.Should really alert people they have to pay BEFOREHAND..Version: 3.1.6

Avoid if your child has sensory issuesThis app was recommended in a parent’s group for autistic children and children with ADHD and sensory issues. I cannot recommend it and have no idea why anyone would even think it was ok for children with sensory issues. In Mathseeds, they have some really jarring obnoxious sound effects that stress my son out. One in particular is a horn blast if you answer a question incorrectly. We do turn off the volume but there are parts where you have to listen to the narrator to know what to do. So it’s a game of turn up the volume, turn down the volume, turn up the volume, forget to turn it down, have kid’s ears blasted by obnoxious sounds, have to calm kid down. Over the long term, this could lead to a dislike of math. If your child is neurotypical, your mileage may vary..Version: 2.4.3

UpdatesWhy are they updates I loved it before.Version: 3.5.1

App crashes and stops so many timesSo unreliable. Results in child crying when not working which is a LOT. Terrible. Avoid..Version: 4.1.5

Reading eggsMy kids love it but it definitely doesn’t work great on an iPad or tablet as certain activities keep freezing..Version: 2.4.2

Please fix this. When we started with reading eggs, it was amazing and my older child loved it! But he already knew the alphabet and knew the placements. Then with our second child, he knew nothing about it! With the RE curriculum, it glues from e to n, and from f to r. the placement of al the letters is off, and it made it very difficult to teach him the actual places of the letters. is there a way to adjust this?.Version: 2.3.16

Nop badIt don’t work so bad.Version: 2.3.12

DownloadingI love the program but it won’t allow me to download it on the iPad. It does the full download yet won’t open when I go back into the App Store it says to download again. A bit annoying considering I’m paying for a service can’t use it. Please resolve this..Version: 2.3.16

It was really good butMy 2yo daughter really enjoyed it, however, glitching is still there, we also got issues with the sound/music in some levels that it would suddenly turned off and we can’t turn it back on.. hoping they’ll get to fix these things soonest possible. Thank you.Version: 2.3.13

Crashes on startupThe app only opens to a light blue screen and then crashes on iOS. Works fine on an older iPhone we have though..Version: 2.3.14

No soundThe games seem like they would work well for my kiddos but the sound stops working after 10 minutes and you need the sound for many if not all the games. So then we have to restart the app. It’s very frustrating and feels useless. I also hate how you can’t easily get to the home page to switch which child’s account you’re on. I have to completely log out to switch. If I want to switch the program they’re working on, as in from math to reading or a different reading program, I would have to completely log out again. Why does the home button not take me to the home page to choose those options????.Version: 4.1.0

It could be betterThe app would be really good if it would stop glitching. My son really enjoys it and has learnt a bit but every time he goes on it glitches for example, cuts out mid game, sound disappears, it logs itself out. I would love to give it 5 stars especially because it costs me £6.99 a month but I just can’t because the glitches make it frustrating to go on. May have to end my subscription if the glitches persist because with them it’s not worth the price.Version: 2.3.13

Bunch of crashesAbsolute terrible quality.Version: 2.4.0

BoredReading eggs is b.o.r.e.d.r.i.n.g because I can't learn any thing!!! And it soooooo hard.🤬🤬.Version: 2.3.15

Sound issues persistUsing brand new iPad, with latest version of the app sound just randomly cuts out. Unmuted,no other apps open but basically makes the app unusable for learning..Version: 3.0.7

GreatThis app has been great and my boys enjoy their time on it. The only issue I have is having to have a grown up help log each one out before they can hand it to their brother to select their profile and begin their turn. Being given an opportunity to use the ipad is a rarity in our house, so they sit side by side anxiously waiting for their turn. It would be so much more fluid and user friendly to be able to switch profiles smoothly. Otherwise, it’s an excellent learning app. Ange.Version: 2.3.9

I want to like it...This has SO much potential but the actual tech is letting you down badly. The iPhone, iPad and browser apps crash constantly. And to make it worse, they don’t even save your login so you have to type your full email and password every time. If you could allow Touch ID that would at least speed things up. Cue two very frustrated three yr olds, whose games freeze on the loading screen constantly. If you can sort out the issues, you’d get a long-term customer out of me because we are home educating. But if it doesn’t improve, I can’t see me continuing. I’m frustrated because I really want this for my kids. Please sort it out!.Version: 2.3.6

Good app, intermittently works thoughOur 4 year old loves reading eggs. Both the maths and reading sections have captured his interest and definitely supplement his learning. However, we do find the app very temperamental. Sometimes the sound doesn’t work (the sound is essential for some of the reading activities), other times it freezes mid way through an activity. Usually it’s resolvable by closing the app down and restarting. Sometimes we have to do this 2-3 to get things again though. This frustrates both us and our son, especially when we’re paying monthly for the app..Version: 2.4.2

Not working properlyHi there, I have just downloaded this onto my iPad and it’s not working. Some of the options are greyed out after I opted for the 30 day free trial yesterday. Logged in today and functionality dramatically reduced. Nothing seems to work. Can’t test with kids to see if they like it..Version: 2.3.11

Sound always cuts outThe premise is good and works great on the website but the app is terrible. The sound cuts out constantly (on 3 different devices so definitely not a device issue) which renders it useless for young kids who can’t workout what to do without the instructions!.Version: 2.3.3

MathseedsThe Mathseeds module vanished from the main page. We can only see Reading Eggs, Reading Eggspress, Fast Phonics and Library now..Version: 3.0.8

Good overall but constantly freezing/losing soundNew member and have just paid for a full year. Very frustrating that on both new iPad and iPhone the app freezes on the balloon popping activity and can’t progress. Also the sound issues that seem to have been mention many times before. This should be fixed, doesn’t happen in other apps and no excuse that it’s been going on so long. My 3yo is very engaged in the activities but then gets extremely frustrated when things aren’t working..Version: 3.0.0

No thanksMAkes you sign up. No thanks.Version: 2.4.1

📖🥚The very first time I played this game it was easy to easy because I'm nine years old and it was for two years old and I had to ask my mum to change the peak my one is peak 10 that's good enough for me my mum thinks this game is good for me but the first time I played it I cried because it was to easy and I am a homeschooler so I have no choice but after all the struggles finally it's good especially when you go on Reading express you can go on arcade and it has so many fun games that also teaches you how to read my rating is ⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.Version: 2.3.16

Crashes frequentlyThis would be a great programme if it wasn’t for the fact it crashes constantly. I don’t think we’ve used it once in the last two weeks when the screen hasn’t frozen at some point. This is very very frustrating as this is not a cheap programme. I don’t understand why more isn’t done to sort this. It’s not a new issue I’ve been using this app for years and it’s always been a problem. I honestly am wondering if I cancel my subscriptions and find an alternative..Version: 2.3.13

Love the app but it’s riddled with bugsI have tried to make a report but it keeps resetting the page. Since updating in July 22 the sound in the app no longer works. The only sound that comes through is the initial opening of the app “reading eggs” and the videos. Any instructions for praise does not come through so my son cannot actually play without me reading every instruction and praising him every time. I have to sit with him whenever he is working on it because he can’t read. Can you please fix this ASAP . I have tried all the suggestions on the support pages and nothing is working. All my other apps are perfectly ok.Version: 3.1.3

Keeps freezingHad I known there were issues with app on IOS I would never had paid for it, I would have gone with a different app. It keeps freezing and I have to remove the app every other day..Version: 2.4.1

Good butIt cost moneyyyy.Version: 3.0.4

This is from a kid standpoint of this appThis is what they should charge about this “game” 1. Sometimes you could be at the point where you are thinking is this app is for babies? Thank you so much for reading this Review on this app. Three Stars. ✨..Version: 3.1.2

Where’s free trial??I just signed up to get 1-month trial, then it charged me $11.19 right away. I’m not sure if this app is good or not, but for sure, I feel ripped off. 🤷‍♀️.Version: 2.3.13

Great Learning but Flawed Tech.I have used the Reading Eggs app with various children over a number of years so I know it to have good content that children enjoy and can enable successful learning. However, it is often let down by technical bugs that lead to frustration (not what you want with a child you’re trying to motivate to read!). This is compounded by the fact that there is no easy way of reporting persistent bugs so that they might be quickly rectified - if anything, there is only resistance or refusal from Reading Eggs’ technical team. The app has many aspects (Reading Eggs, Reading Eggspress, Fast Phonics, MathSeeds and an extensive library are some that I’ve taken advantage of), so it offers excellent value for money. I would suggest to the developers though that the older aspects, such as Reading Eggspress, could benefit from a more mature format, with fewer repetitive noises and animated distractions (which might otherwise motivate younger users). Altogether, although a much liked/used app, I’m fearful that it’s going to become defunct to the other more technically reliable and crisper offerings currently flooding the market - I’m not sure Reading Eggs will be able to keep up sadly :(.Version: 3.5.1

GlitchyWas good when we first got the app. Now it’s glitchy and it stops on loading. My daughter and I are over. Good app but not In pressed on the glitch..Version: 2.3.13

No sound on iPadsHorrible way to start new users..Version: 3.3.1

Great app when it worksI got this for my two children (5 & 3). The content and layout of the app is fantastic. The kids are engaged and like playing, plus there’s lots of different sections to keep them interested. I have two issues with the app which may affect whether I keep using it. Firstly it crashes fairly frequently, usually freezing on the loading pages. This means my kids having to repeat lessons which irritates them. Secondly there doesn’t seem to be any way to stop them from going into each other’s profiles and messing things up. They use different devices but can easily access each other’s profile from the reading eggs app. My youngest keeps changing his sisters avatar and my eldest plays on the beginner pack in his settings. It’s a big problem and unless it can be fixed there’s not much point in keeping the app for my youngest, which is a shame as he was quickly grasping the lessons..Version: 2.3.5

Maths seeds?I can’t see the maths seeds part on the phone app? On the browser the homepage shows reading eggs and maths seeds but no maths seeds on the phone app?.Version: 2.3.15

Crashes and freezes constantlyWaste of time. We were charged a fee for this app by the school but can’t use it half the time. In the past there were constant issues with sound, or getting stuck on a particular lesson and not allowing the child to progress... now you can’t even open / launch it. It goes to a blue screen starts to play the aggravating video (not sure why we have to watch it every single time you launch the app you’ve had for 2.5 years - gets a bit old tbh) and crashes after 2 seconds. Your app has made my kids cry so many times I’ve uninstalled it and I’m done..Version: 2.3.15

TerribleIts so laggy and if I got it right then it will show wrong and the next button won't show up 💢🤬😡💢💢 It makes me so frustrated.Version: 2.3.16

Super slow and clunkyI brought the paid version for this Game for my 6 and 4 year old but it is so frustrating and the kids are getting just won’t use it anymore. It takes forever to load and is super glitchy, even since the recent up date. I’ve tried it one two different models of IPad and having the same problems on both. The navigation is really frustrating and slow. I also wouldn’t recommend this for younger kids the games and lessons are way to advanced for a 4 year old. I love the idea of this App but it had a lot of needed improvements for the price..Version: 4.1.2

IPhone os not optimizedWe are stuck on map 2 space 15 having to do r again and again. Can you fix this bug? You would think with a paid app it would be consistently updated… oh well. You know what’s good? On YouTube or Netflix is alphablocks and numberblocks. My child has learned so much about numbers from this show and it’s fun and engaging. This app though I don’t know… teacher likes it because it does show a report card type thing… but my child got bored of it right away. He’s six though so maybe better for an earlier year..Version: 3.3.0

Excellent but back button makes it unusableThis is an excellent application and has been very educational and entertaining for my 2 year old. There is however a major issue with the back button, it is so large and prominent that my 2 year old int the beginning kept pressing it thinking it was part of the game, when she learned it wasnt and shouldlnt press it, she would regularly accidentally presses it as she was hold the ipad quite often and had to start the lesson from scratch. This is quite frustrating, she cant help pressing the button. It should be harder to press, maybe make it a smaller target with press and hold or some other way to ensure its not accidentally pressed. Please create a setting for this, it shouldn’t be that difficult otherwise she is getting quickly frustrated with the repetition and might lose interest..Version: 3.4.0

ProblemMy children love it but sometimes there’s no sound.Version: 3.1.6

Great for kids though navigation is unusable badThis app could be so good but is led down by some of the worst navigational design I have ever seen as a consultant of 15 years in digital. Almost every rule in the book broken from ambiguous symbols, inconsistent behaviour of the interactive elements, lack of visual hierarchy, lack of back navigation, very little contextual help or cues, cluttered noisey layout in many cases, honestly the product team and CX/UX designers should be embarrassed with how difficult to use this app is - rock bottom. Assumedly very limited use of analytics to spot user frustration, remove friction and improve..Version: 3.1.5

Great but now glitching...This app has been amazing for home-schooling our 5 year old during lockdown. Unfortunately, this morning the app crashed and we have been unable to open it since, even after deleting and reinstalling. Some advice would be appreciated, if possible..Version: 2.3.13
