Addictive but extremely frustratingNo question Threes is addictive. But with each passing update it is becoming increasingly frustrating and nearly unplayable. It continuously cheats, paying little regards to its own rules. Every time you swipe, a new card is supposed to be added. That’s not what happens. As you get better, the game introduces not one card at a time but two, not always but frequently enough to make it impossible to play. A shame that what used to be an enjoyable game no longer is..Version: 3.0.1

Needs a fixAnnoyingly, when I finish a game and tap to play again it brings up the sharing screen to share my score. This is irritating because it interrupts my playing AND I’m afraid that one day I’m going to accidentally text one of my contacts with my score. I don’t know if this is a bug/mistake or it was intended as a subtle advertising strategy to get more people to share that they play the game—if it’s the latter, it’s really misguided. I’d never bother my contacts with things like this and I’m getting frustrated enough I’m contemplating deleting the game. Please fix it..Version: 1.3.24

Bit boringDoesn't seem like there is any strategy to this game; more like just luck of what numbers you will get next. Deleted it.Version: 1.3.5

Great game one HUGE problemLove the game, it’s a blast to play especially if you’re into brain teasing games however it has a huge operational issue. Part of the game involves swiping the screen up, down, left, and right. On a new iPhone that has no home button if you swipe up to go home it will also swipe your game up essentially moving the tiles against your will. This has essentially destroyed my strategy unless I play a game start to finish without doing anything else on my phone..Version: 1.3.24

Game breaking TutorialI bought this game on the recommendation of someone whose opinion I trust. Booted up the game, had a blast, then went to bed. The next day I tried to play it again. It acted like I'd never played it before, even after my proud achievement of getting my first 48. So it starts me of in the tutorial, which I wanted to skip. There was no such option. So I just started swiping away in a flurry to get the silly thing over with and it got to a point where there were no possible moves and the game wouldn't reset. So I had to delete the game and reinstall. Now I still like the game but that is one very frustrating flaw that I did not expect to have to deal with..Version: 1.0.2

Merchandising before User ExperienceI've played a lot of games of Threes but not for awhile. It seems they've decided to "upgrade" the app to insert a merchandising screen we have to swipe past before playing a new game. Every. Time. This is a royal pain. As long as they put self promotion ahead of gameplay, this app doesn't deserve space on my devices. Too bad. It was fun when they valued their customers..Version: 1.3.5

Not so good on 3GSAlthough I admit my old 3GS doesn't have nearly the same power as a 4, 5 or 6 this game looked very basic and downloaded without warning. The 3GS still does a decent job of playing some graphically impressive games - but this is almost unplayable. I can't understand why. There are no jazzy effects or graphics, just some numbers on a grid. Swiping is unresponsive more often than not, and the game takes upwards of 4 minutes to load. The game design is great but the execution is plain awful. Have these devs ever heard of optimisation? It runs like a dog and that's just lazy. Avoid if you have an old phone like mine. Don't waste your money on this. Hopefully they will optimise in future versions but if they're happy to put this out I doubt they'll bother..Version: 1.2.3.4

Great fun casual game- just one thing...A brilliantly simple, takes a minute to learn and longer to master, intuitive game. The only thing that is counter intuitive is the “replay” button at the end of the game appears in the top left of the screen. I know this is an older game designed when larger phone screens weren’t as common. It’s wishful thinking perhaps that something like this could be changed in an update, but moving the play again option to the bottom center after a game ends rather than the current “see scores” option just makes sense. Especially with a one handed game like this. Thanks!.Version: 1.3.24

Presumably never tested on in iPhone 4Given the super-simple gameplay, you would think that performance wouldn't be a problem. Not so. On my iPhone 4 it crawls - a shame when similar games like 2048 really fly. I got fed up and deleted it after a few games..Version: 1.0.3

How about an update? Can we go from the end of one game to starting another? Why do we have to go through the slow animation and tallying?.Version: 1.3.6

Another Great Game Ruined By GreedHad a lot of potential to be fun but, as other reviewers have pointed out, the game is outright rigged against you. As you make progress and the grid fills up, the AI will send out 4 or 5 blue or red tiles in a row. The AI will also consistently block you from moving tiles to join with others. Now, it's more like playing against an opponent rather than an enjoyable puzzle game. The "update" has only made matters worse. Why make people pay for a game and then harangue them with ads for tacky merchandise? Must be to tick them off enough to not play. Hmm, seems like good business strategy to me 🤓 Seems like the developers don't realize that we have many other great apps vying for our time and money and that they only have a short window of time to attract and keep loyal players. Too bad that short sighted greed is ruining the App Store..Version: 1.3.5

Don't waste your moneyThis game has refreshingly simple and elegant gameplay, brought together with a fun and clever presentation. However, the developers felt the need to ruin the experience by making the placement of new tiles unfair. Like other (former) players who found they could barely reach their old high scores after updating, I'm repeatedly frustrated by the way the game consistently places new tiles in the worst locations. It feels like you're playing against an adversary, making it frustrating instead of relaxing. Wish I could get a refund..Version: 1.3.5

Rigged!!! 2048 is MUCH better! They had some nerve charging six bucks for this crap! At least it’s now 99 cents, but it’s still way too much for this atrocious game! Annoying sound effects, ridiculous rules that make no sense, and it constantly dishes out 1s and 2s when you start doing well, which quickly ends gameplay! 2048 was inspired by this. It’s VERY rare that a knock-off game is actually better than the game that inspired it, but this is the case here! This game cheats and is so irritating with the voices, that I always end up playing a few games, then going on to a better game! Get 2048, delete this garbage! Threes may have inspired 2048, but is nowhere NEAR as good! I’m just SO grateful I didn’t buy this when it was $5.99!! Even at $.99, it’s still much too expensive for this P.O.S.!!! 😡😡.Version: 3.0.1

Used to be greatI used to love this game and honestly spent way too much time playing it. But the most recent updates have added a Merchandise page that you have to view after every game to start a new game. Too often I've accidentally hit this page and been directed to the site in Safari, which I'm assuming is the point. It seems predatory and unfair to customers who are simply trying to play the game. I understand the need to make money but this feels dishonest and has encouraged me to no longer play this game. I'd strongly suggest any users interested in purchasing this game spend their money elsewhere..Version: 1.3.5

Desperately needs an update!!!Crashes anytime I open it on my iPhone 6!.Version: 1.1.1

Crashing randomly under iOS 16.4.1Software hasn't been updated in over two years but now somewhat regularly crashes out to your main phone screen randomly losing wherever you were in the game. I'm guessing this isn't the case with Threes+ but I'm not getting Apple Arcade after having paid for the game (albeit it some time ago). Hopefully the dev is aware of a quick fix but please consider this a warning if you're going to pay for this..Version: 3.0.1

Not Ad-free, save your moneyThis game used to be almost perfect. Elegant, simple, but endlessly enjoyable in the obsessive way a game like tetris is. Enough so that I paid for it. But now they have inserted advertising that pops up automatically after every game in such a way that I'm more likely than not to accidentally get rerouted to their merchandise page. Thanks for wasting my time and bandwidth repeatedly, developers. You got my money for the game - that should be enough. I didn't want your tacky pillows the first time I saw them, and seeing them another 75 times makes me want to delete the game..Version: 1.3.5

Why does this need to look at my clipboard... every time I launch it? Deleted it, despite it being one of my favourite time waster games..Version: 1.3.24

I love this game. But the purchase version is not working!I love Threes! But the purchase version is not working on iPhone X nor iPhone 12 Pro. Well, actually it worked last night when I downloaded from App Store for my new phone. But today, it go back to the white screen. Not quite sure why. I tried to remove the app, even tried to repurchase it. It is just not working. The free version is working. But I have to watch the ads. Also the problem is I can’t play at some places with no cell service. Again, it is definitely a 5 star app. Please help me to make it work!.Version: 1.3.48

ThreesI love this game I would give it six stars but it keeps on playing up on both my devices, so that's the reason I'm only giving it three. Flint.Version: 1.3.5

HmmmmMaybe this is the original that was copied, but the copies are so much better. The board doesn't take up the whole screen, the animations are sloppy and slow making it feel unresponsive, and the whole 1 adds with 2, but every other number adds to itself is inconsistent and un-intuitive making it harder to play. Try 2048 instead..Version: 1.2

Disappointed!I played the free app for a couple of weeks and loved it so I bought the paid app. Since then I have been unable to get my score to 10K whereas my score in the free version would go over 22K. Why did they make the paid version more discouraging?.Version: 3.0.1

Fun in Small DosesEntertaining and originality is eventually replaced by frustration. Simple concept makes this game easy to learn, and creates a desire to improve game score. Tiles have their own “personality” and this makes it a fun challenge to try and unlock them. Frustration kicks in as tile values increase and there is less room for additional tiles. Random tiles are added that result in game ending scenarios. Leaves little to strategy and cannot plan ahead. This is when the novelty wore off, and I became fed up of Threes. I’ll return to play it every once in a while, and hope that improvements have been made. And to quote one of the many tiles, “NOPE!”..Version: 3.0.1

Latest version freezes a lotCan’t play for more than a few minutes before all animation starts getting jerky and glitchy before the game freezes completely..Version: 1.3.24

Worse than the free versionThis version often considers horizontal moves as vertical moves, or otherwise. The free version is much better..Version: 3.0.1

Used to love this game, developers are completely absurd.I'm in the top #250 of all time and have gotten the 6144 tile so I feel obligated to post this. I used to love this game. 1. The game is absurd at the end game and is often times impossible. You can play perfect (all the pieces are in order and in the right place) but get 4 reds or 4 blues in a row. This is inexcusable. Even the developer himself admitted (in his reddit iama) his highest tile was a 768, which isn't surprising at all considering the late game has no thought at all. 2. The game has sold millions. It is a great concept. It costs 3 dollars. For a VERY LONG time the button for restarting a game (a very frequent occurrence) was in a particular place and you got very used to that. Well they said screw it and moved that button to a link to their website to buy merchandise. Yes, that is right. After getting the habit down of restarting the game, you now accidentally click on their merch link. But they don't care, its been this way for months. Please don't buy this game. I've given up and I hope no one else gets into it..Version: 1.3.5

Good but unfulfillingThis is a pleasant swiping game that I play to keep my hands busy while I talk to people. It did not take long before I felt like I could no longer improve my gameplay. The gameplay mechanics just seem slightly too unsophisticated to be able to effectively control the outcomes on such a small playing board. It's frustrating to play very well for a long time and then get a bad draw and have to start over. But the gameplay loop is reasonably enjoyable..Version: 1.3.24

Continued use slows down then crashesPlease produce a new build for iOS14. Seems there is a memory leak as it gradually gets glitchy and crashes..Version: 1.3.48

Novel and engaging for about 15 minutesThrees! is a simple numbers game that involves moving rows and columns to create multiples of three, then add matching numbers to obtain larger multiples of three. That's it. Easy to learn, no apparent glitches, and no complaints at all, really, other than the occasional "baby-talk" voice acting. (Boy, that got grating quickly.) I simply lost interest. I played about 40-50 times, and there were no levels, awards, formatting/style changes, or rules added during gameplay. You start and end with the same board, and the only objective is to get as high a score as possible before you're blocked from making any other move. Assuming you can still download the app at no charge, I estimate you'll have about 15 to 20 minutes of free entertainment, and there's nothing wrong with that. You may enjoy it much more than I did, and thus I would encourage everyone to give it a whirl. P.S. I read some other reviews after publishing my own, and I noticed that some people paid up to three dollars for this game. To be clear, I would consider that a huge waste of money, and I would rate the game two stars if it had been anything other than free..Version: 1.3.5

Nice gameVery nice and fun game but too many glitches and bugs. Showing my own score in place of challengers records is beyond any acceptable level..Version: 1.0.3

Game crashing on startup- update 2: tried yet again on a brand new iPhone 5S (also running iOS 7.1.1) and still crashing. It's important to note that I'm restoring from a backup, so I'm guessing some corrupt file is carried over? - update: tried again on a brand new iPhone 5 (also running iOS 7.1.1) today and still crashing. Sorry guys, the game's worth 5 stars, but it's not starting for me. It loads the starting screen and then it exits. I uninstalled it and installed it back and still same issue. I'm running ios 7.1.1 on iphone 5..Version: 1.1.1

IOS 10 Game Center support missingPlease keep up with the Game Center changes however pointless they are (thanks a bunch Apple!). So I'm playing and my parents are playing. But there's no way to send a challenge - I hadn't added my parents to Game Center as friends and now that app is gone I can't. But when I try to challenge a friend there isn't a way of adding a new friend. How can I add a new friend???? Please respond to this review and I'll make this a 5 star review!.Version: 1.3.5

Please fixI love threes but it really needs to be fixed. It is too slow and often closes down. Please restore it to its original glory!.Version: 3.0.1

It has become stupidSome recent changes in the algorithm has made it stupid otherwise which was one of the greatest puzzle game ever. Five consecutive 1s or 2s in middle of the game? Seriously! I am not a pro but playing against it was fun. But now it seems like there's very low chance to make a big score since it gives a series of consecutive numbers to put me in a corner. I know it will try to beat me but there's no fair play anymore? Is it justified to provide five 1s/2s in a row? It's happening every time for the past few weeks. Not good. Losing interest..Version: 1.3.24

Fun for a minute, but ultimately pointlessThis is a somewhat fun game, but my main problem is it essentially only goes as long as the game feels like letting you. Past a certain point, you literally have no control over your own gaming experience. You play as long as the game feels generous enough to give you moves to play, and that’s it. That will maybe only be a handful of moves, or maybe it’s enough to net you some really high-scoring tiles. Either way, you’re done when the game decides you’re done, and you have no choice in the matter. It might as well just play itself..Version: 3.0.1

Might be good butI have been playing this game for awhile. About a year and half. The game is really beginning to tire me. The same music. Why is there no way to turn it off other than to do so each and every time you enter the game. And then you have to scroll past the game store to get to options. This before you can play. Also the voices get old really quickly. It is apparent the developers have more thought to you buying some worthless piece of crap from them than making a good game so much better..Version: 1.3.5

SuspiciousDecent little game I suppose. Easy enough to understand and fairly addictive, as all good games should be. When thinking a little harder about the mechanics, however, it becomes obvious that the "random" placement of new tiles is far from random. Either I'm the best guesser in the world or a after only a few hours of play I've worked out exactly where each new tile will appear. This could be useful if it were not for the fact that each new tile appears in the most inconvenient vacant cell available. This flaw combined with the potential of receiving tiles of very high values makes the game as close to rigged as makes no difference. Not worth the money..Version: 1.0.3

Used to love this game butI used to love this game because it was challenging and I didn't easily get bored playing this game. But they added merchandise buying button and if you are a regular player, it's hard to not click this button as this was button which used to start a new game. Yes, you lose three stars for being greedy and adding that merchandise button and game is not even free. Now, it has started crashing when I am trying to start a new game, it just won't swipe the screen when I am done with current game, it would stuck there for like 5-10 seconds and crash sometimes..Version: 1.3.5

CrashesEnjoyed this game but the new update crashes on both my iPhone and iPad..Version: 1.3

Missing a key constraintThis is one of the worst games I have played ….when you are a minute of into the game a string of 3 or 1s or 2s come that makes it impossible to score further….so frustrating.Version: 3.0.1
