SketchUp for Negative User Reviews

This update brokenThis update doesn’t keep my drawing I’m order.Version: 6.0.5

Same issue as many othersI love Sketchup online but this important app for people like me who use an iPad to view models is pretty much useless. Does not refresh with latest version of my models, which I update frequently. The only way to get the latest version is to uninstall and reinstall. They’ve apparently been ‘working on it’ for years now, but it still isn’t resolved. They do still want you to pay for the upgraded version, however, which it is difficult to justify when the non-upgraded version does not work as it should..Version: 5.4.8

Not greatVery hard to open and locate skp files on my phone. Counter-intuitive app. Couldn’t give a ff about trying AR. Just want to open a file!.Version: 4.0.2

PhoneGreat app but I am confused about how to draw stuff in my house on my phone.Version: 5.0.1

Cannot Sign InGlitch has not been fixed that prevents users from signing in when they first open the app..Version: 5.4.1

An account to view?!It’s a shame Trimble have made this require an account just to view sketchup files. I was hoping this would have been an easy way of sending people models - and just telling them to download the sketchup viewer app - but nobody is going to signup for an account just to view a model for a few minutes. “Viewing” should be like a pdf viewer. Just download and go..Version: 5.0.1

App keeps crashingHey, I'm an avid sketchup user doing architecture 3rd year and wanted to have a 3D model to show off on my ipad, the app loads up alright, however when i try to view any model the app keeps crashing, please fix as i want to use this program..Version: 1.2

BadShocking bad I’m sorry I have to use it for school and I can’t becuase it can’t build.Version: 4.0.2

$174Why bother, waste of time, waste of money. Avoid it..Version: 6.1.5

BasicYou can’t make cutting list. The program is so limited. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. don’t waste your time.Version: 6.0.5

Update for current iPads!Almost a year since they’ve been out and I have huge black bars on the iPad app....Version: 5.0.1

Not the old desktop appIt could be a feeling of nostalgia, but this is definitely not how I remember sketch up 5-10 years ago. Even though intuitive, it’s not nearly as efficient as trying to use AutoCAD or MicroStation for basic 3-D models, and at times I found it frustrating compared to a mouse and keyboard to the point where I would rather have a laptop and mouse, or track ball with a copy of autoCAD or microstation. Unless I was being required to use it I cannot justify the price, this just isn’t for how are use 3-D modeling CAD. It is great that they have a one week free trial, but I wish it was longer so I could play around with it more..Version: 6.1.5

To glitchySketchup has had glitches and bugs for years.. Its so depressing to use. Just moving things around is frustrating! The app is ok but the program is a waste of my hard earned Mony refund please!.Version: 4.0.2

False AdvertisingThis app clearly states that you can open models from your Google Drive, but it is not true. I want my money back. Most disappointing app I've ever purchased in this price bracket..Version: 3.2

IPad version doesn’t work & you cannot login. Don’t bother. What a pointless exercise. Downloaded the latest version onto the latest up-to-date M1 iPad pro. Signed up, logged in and set everything up. Even created my first design. Now however, when I try to log back in, there’s a login dialog that opens, and that’s where you’re stuck. There’s no way to get past that point, no way to enter your credentials and no way to open previously saved work. Glad I didn’t pay the $174 - it would’ve been wasted. Amazes me that people go to all the effort to write potentially decent software and then they force away customers, who like me would probably have paid their $174 price tag. Another customer forced back to their opposition….Version: 6.0.7

Bad lagGreat app but since version 3.0 there has been a lot of lag that wasn't there before..Version: 3.0

They said it was freeI got an email telling me it was finally for ipad and available to all subcriptions. well that was a lie. I assumed it would be like the web version, only letting you use it when online wich is an issue but at least its free so no comment. But it turns out you can just view the models. If i recall you could already do that before so I dont know why they worded their adverstisng like that. otherwise i guess ita good if you are already a subscriber or need to use it on the go but otherwise its completely pointless, sorry..Version: 6.0.5

DisappointingAfter constantly checking for a general release of SketchUp for iPad for the last year I was disappointed to realise that without a subscription the software is nothing but a glorified model viewer. I miss the good old days when general users could have free access to the software and you only needed to pay if you were a commercial user. Where Google at the time actually released a program you could download and not the web browser, internet connection requiring desktop version we have today from Trimble. I used the free version at home to quickly upgrade my skills when using the program at work and to design a few home improvement projects around the house. Sadly SketchUp has gone down the subscription route, even for general/casual users. Although I am a Trimble Tekla user I no longer use SketchUp at work. And although I do have a few home improvement projects I was hoping to design using this app, due to the subscription model I think I’ll give it a miss thanks! I’m not that desperate to create a 3D model of my kitchen, not for the price they are asking anyway and especially not for a piece of software that has only just come out of beta. You would think that companies would want as many people as possible to learn their software in the hope that that would boost commercial sales due to an increased interest. But everyone must pay to play. Such a let down..Version: 6.0.1

AWFUL. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME 💰💰💰😡YOU CAN’T EVEN MAKE ONE DESIGN FOR FREE!?? If you even want to use the app you have to pay an infuriating amount of money to do so. Incredibly disappointed. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I’m sure it’s good for people that want to pay $149.99 but it sucks for people like me..Version: 6.0.8

Apps crashes constantly.App constantly crashes.Version: 2.1.1

No way inTook a few goes to get past creating an account and I have no idea how I managed it in the end. Then it went to a website that had no way out. Deleted it..Version: 5.4.3

ScamYou have to register and then you cannot use it. They just want your email.Version: 6.0.2

Does not work on Google Drive in iOSMobile skp is a wonderful asset but needs work to validate Trimble claims as follows: 'When installed, the SketchUp Mobile Viewer app will register itself with your device’s operating system as an app that is intended to be used to open files with the *.skp file extension." * NOT TRUE: Google Drive does not show up. 'So anytime..." * NOT TRUE: see complaints logged since oct'16 on Trimble web site "...you’re browsing apps on your device and come across a SketchUp model, whether it’s attached to an email," * NOT TRUE: does not open in 3 top email apps. "...or whether it’s in a folder of files in your Google Drive app," * NOT TRUE: does not open in GDrive. '...you can tap the *.skp SketchUp file, then press the Open icon, and choose the SketchUp Mobile Viewer app from the list." * NOT TRUE: does not appear on any list..Version: 6.1.5

Another dead Apple appI just downloaded the app & opened it, but it wouldn’t do anything - nothing would open/function. There was a Trimble page that opened on the right side with nothing in it. It’s a shame that it doesn’t work because it looked promising. I’ve downloaded Concepts app instead..Version: 6.1.5

Baggie&Laggy&CrashyIt is definitely doesn’t worth the price right now.Version: 6.0.5

Not quick or intuitiveI have a SketchUp Pro subscription and only tried out the app for the hope that it would let me do basics without opening my laptop. But from the get-go this app wants you to download any models uploaded to the 3d warehouse in order to open them. Why would I want to download a giant model onto my phone? Streaming the model should be a basic. Just like all models on 3D warehouse can be previewed without download. Also why would I upload my client’s confidential models to the warehouse? My projects are saved on Dropbox and there is no way to connect Dropbox to this viewer (not there in the cloud options). Please update app to do these basic things and while you are at it, make sure I can measure some distances on the model as well. Sort of like DWG Trueview!.Version: 5.4

Can not work without internet.Great app but, Be aware that SketchUp on pc and iPad are useless while offline. If you are travelling somewhere has no internet or slow internet speed. You’d better to have a working plan B. Otherwise, you will be cooked..Version: 5.4.3

Gotta pay.Signed up with all my info then finally when I tried to use it, you have to pay. Thanks for nothing..Version: 6.1.1

It looks cool…I mean it seems like it could be a really cool app, but I can‘t sign in cos my ipad has restrictions on certain websites. I know it sounds like I‘m complaining about something you can‘t control, but I just want to be able to sign in without having to go on a website… It won‘t let me do anything without signing in so its kind of pointless for me to even keep it in my app library..Version: 6.2.3

Not freeWaste of time.Version: 6.3.0

Poor after new overhaulThey claim they did a new overhaul, and that is correct. Because the app does not work as well as it used to. I cannot load models in from my google drive and cannot seem to get the most recent to actually show the most recent. I used to love this app and use it all the time for my viewing of projects on my phone. This update was a huge step backwards and not as interested anymore. They need to do a lot of reverting because this new version is horrible..Version: 5.5.1

I can’t even sign upWhen I got the app, I tried to sign in by putting in my email as it said, but it kept on refreshing me to the signing page so when I tried with Google it did the same thing, and when I did it with Apple, it did the same thing it wouldn’t let me sign up and it was getting really frustrating. I don’t recommend this app because you can’t create things without signing up let alone you can’t even sign up. I would like to know how to fix this but this is terrible.Version: 6.1.5

No way to login or create accountThe little Web login box is broken (logo & footer only are shown). Furthermore, no obvious way to create an account in the app….Version: 6.3.0

Infuriatingly badVery hard to navigate around your model, crashes all the time and you lose work even if you have saved it. Maddeningly hard to rotate objects. Weird perspective. Horrible, horrible, horrible. I will be asking for a refund..Version: 6.1.5

Keeps crashing since updateSince new update crashes every 5 mins on iPad Pro 11 inch M2.Version: 6.1.3

Won’t let me use at allIt won’t even allow me to create a new project or do anything at all. Garbage app.Version: 6.0.8

No way to sign inTried multiple times to sign in....refuses to issue reset code...I give up! Total garbage...Version: 6.1.5

Wish there were other pricing plansI am a woodworking hobbyist. With my day job, I only build one on two small projects a year. I can't use software that charges me $119 a year when I might only use the tool five or ten hours a year for my simple table on cabinet designs. Perhaps you could charge a fixed fee for each drawing, or allow one free drawing. As it is, much of my time would be spent just learning the tool. My recollection is that Google allowed some free drawings. Too bad that's gone away..Version: 6.0.8

No hide/unhide funktion. No outlinerCan't really use it as I can't view the outliner dialog. I can't hide or unhide components so it's useless for me. Sad.Version: 6.1.5

Can’t sign inWhen I first opened the app i couldn’t even sign in please fix this the trailer looks so cool and I want to be able to do the same on the app.Version: 6.2.1

Frustrating but has potentialSketchup pro user here. All my files are saved by default to Documents on my Mac, which I’m pretty sure is part of the icloud drive. When I use this app’s search function to locate model files by name, they never appear. When I manually navigated to the appropriate Documents folder, all my models are listed but greyed our as ‘non-openable’ I’m open to the idea that I’ve missed a trick, but first impressions are somewhat frustrating..Version: 5.0.1

This new version crashes every time. Now won't display models. On both iOS 12 and 10, it crashes on startup. This applies to V5.0 . Update: The patch Version 5.0.1 fixes the V5.0 crash issue , but it won't display any of my models on iPad with iOS10. The model flashes up quickly and then disappears after which an emoty white screen is displayed. I have signed into my Trimble account. NB The models were created by someone using another account..Version: 5.0.1

Must relearn SketchupUnsure I want to relearn the entire sketch up app from new. i’ve spent years slowly learning the desktop and web version. Do I learn a whole new version of SketchUp or learn a different app and different tools. At 120 a year, I’m going to pause, evaluate, and demo other offerings. Pencil support is a bit strange. I’ve been learning the Pencil for a few days and find it’s great for just drawing shapes, but if you want precision, hence the point of Sketchup, it’s not the right tool to use..Version: 6.0.8

I would love to buy my apps not pay to hireThis may be good app but unless you subscribe some monthly payments or yearly in this case you can’t…..Version: 6.0.7

Go back to old SketchUp.I’ve been using SketchUp for years, though the new layout and removal of features (in an effort to pay for them?) has rendered this app almost unusable. Let us browse the warehouse, and simplify the UI back to how it was. Thanks..Version: 6.0.7

ShameUsed to love this, took a week off work to learn it. That was when it was owned by Google. And you could install it on your desktop. Seems every step has been taken to make it more clunky since Trimble people took the reins, I’m just a casual user so this doesn’t effect me greatly, just sad to see a once great app turned into this. So this iPad version is £108. Or it’s just a viewer… again they don’t seem interested in growing a user base, just $£¥! Short term economics..Version: 6.0.4

💸💰💀IT COST MONEY TO MAKE ATLEAST ONE BUILDING AND U NEED TO SIGN IN (wich is ok)BUT LIKE MONEY.Version: 6.0.8

Love SketchUp, iPad Version could be more intuitiveGlad to see iPad version but interface could be more intuitive. Price is high when comparing to free web version..Version: 6.0.5

Good app. Show measurementsThis is a great app for showing what you have designed but that is all. You can't see any measurements which would make it a top app to use when building something you have designed..Version: 2.0.1

Expensive trash for iPadDesktop version is 100x better. I know designing a program like this for iPad functionality is hard and there’s no program that isn’t ball breakingly frustrating but for y’all to charge 149 yearly for this nonsense where it takes 5 mins to make a cube to custom dimensions, even after using this program for over a month..Version: 6.1.5

Where did the tape measure go?This app used to have function. One could pull up the model on a job site and quickly measure things. That was taken away and now it’s just a clunky, barely passable, 3D viewer that has no utility..Version: 6.0.8

I kind of wish I didn’t get this appFirst of all, to create something of your own, you have to pay a lot of money. Second of all, There’s no tutorial or anything to show you what to do. Third of all, when I made my account, it wouldn’t let me type so I had to copy and paste from a different app..Version: 6.1.5

Can’t use at allThe program seems cool but i only need to draw one thing for a room design, like at least let someone use the software before making them pay. Also could easily use ads for revenue if someone is using it free. Two options that work instead of the useless idea of making someone pay or free just to view the projects you show. Can’t even see any tutorials to use it. Why have it be free if it’s not actually free just make it a cost to use it front up or have a way for users to have for free…some people don’t have that money..Version: 6.0.8

Almost a great app.The app works great for the most part, my only pet peeves are that you can only use the app in landscape on iPhone (even in the file picker) and that the UI for managing files is difficult to understand. For example, if I open a file from Trimble connect, do I need to delete and download again if I make changes to it? I would prefer to have the files as either a list/table view with swipe to delete/info/redownload or a collection view with a edit button in the top right that allows models to be deleted..Version: 5.1

Not free can’t even make your own projectThis app tells you to sign in with your email and personal info and then just to make you own model you have to pay for a yearly subscription.Version: 6.0.7

Impossible to useIt’s great that SketchUp came to iPad but it is impossible to use with pencil, very unintuitive and finicky, and even if you learn the new way to use the tools it’s a pain to draw anything but the most basic things. Some tools are tap, some tools are hold, half the time you don’t know what the next step is for the tool you’re using, half the time the tool workflow ends by touching with a finger or the pencil hovering near the wrong thing, it’s insane. Then the tooltip menu to enter dimensions follows the pencil on hover, meaning you can’t use it because it keeps shifting and shaking. It’s ridiculous, I don’t think anybody in this company has actually tried to use this app. Am I using it incorrectly? Probably! Are the help videos or documentation useful? Not at all! They describe trivial steps and don’t clarify anything that helps make this usable. Forget it if you’re a power user looking for precision, your best bet is to get a mouse and keyboard for the iPad, which means just keep using it on your laptop….Version: 6.2.3

View only unless you subscribeDisappointed. I’m a casual user. A yearly subscription is required to unlock this app, otherwise it works only as a viewer. I’ll try Shapr3D instead….Version: 6.1.1

Useless to actually view even a small model. Why is this the most expensive app, yet it can't even handle a 20mb model without crashing?! 20mb is not a large model. Super annoyed I payed for this pretty lame app. Basically useless unless your model is a few simple boxes. Wanna show materials in your model as well? FORGET IT! Way to rip off users Trimble.....NOT HAPPY..Version: 3.2.3

It's a trap- 150 a year to useIt is not free - it only lets you use anything after you agree to a 150 per year subscribe fee- what a scam! The app may be good but this is not a business practice of a serious company. Be upfront about yourprice and I will think again.Version: 6.2

Login Screen failureDownloaded the app onto my iPad Mini, and I am unable to login as the login screen is incomplete (IOS 15.6). Renders it completely unusable..Version: 6.0.8

Not for hobbyists any moreIf you want to use Sketchup for your own personal use, making models and animations just for fun, don’t bother. This app will lock you out of the 3d tools after 7 days, unless you pay a $120 yearly subscription. Trimble will tell you to use their free web-based version, which is inferior in every way that matters, and they *still* will want you to sign up for an account, even then. I guess we’ll have to keep on waiting for a hobbyist-friendly 3d modeler on this platform..Version: 6.0.1

MehIt kinda sucks for me. I’m trying this app for free but there’s no tutorial or anything and I can’t do anything.Version: 6.2.3

Excited . . . at firstI’ve been using Sketchup for years and years and was super excited when I saw that it’s available on my iPad Pro. I imagined how useful the pen would be. Downloaded the app right away. Signed in. Found my models. Then realised it’s “view only”. OK. Dug a bit deeper. Then saw the CAD$149 a year. Every year. Forever. Then proudly viewed my model for a while. Then deleted the app. Sketchup used to be so great when it was owned by Google. Trimble . . . not so much..Version: 6.0.7

Update failMost expensive app I've ever bought and now it doesn't work. Fix it! Cannot redownload from Dropbox as it says file is now incompatible. Wasn't before..Version: 3.0

All the positive reviews are fake…because…This app is total d0gsh1te… can’t give no stars! Doesn work correctly, and you have to pay. Some free loader from Trimble bought the rights from google to make more money have done nothing but ruined it for everyone with the greed. Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it off to Rhino I go!.Version: 6.0.8

Great when it worksAmazing app when it works - being able to change viewing angles etc and toggle edges on/off is very handy. However, there are issues: 1) colours are greatly intensified compared with the original on my computer monitor; 2) it lags badly on older devices (e.g. iPad Air 2) and 3) models with larger file size are just a nightmare. Anything over the 40mb mark won’t open in AR (which is good when it works) while anything over 60-70mb doesn’t seem to open at all, sadly. I love this app, but it seems incapable of handling detailed models on mobile devices - so, 3/5 from me..Version: 5.3

Poor connection to serverUsing the quick draw door (window, etc.) insert is a very nice feature. However, modifying the dynamic model requires server connection and that keeps spinning, not connecting, in more than one session over a period of days, the server connection is very spotty. I have Wi-Fi over fiber and the connection on my end is robust. Otherwise, the app is good and responsive to the Apple Pencil..Version: 6.2.3

Where did the AR go?I paid for this app for the AR but it seems to be missing from the new update. Apparently it’s there and has a better interface? Ummmm can’t even find it..Version: 5.5.1

Can't upload files from phone.... and view on the fly. Unless I'm missing something?.Version: 6.0.1

Cannot sign inThere is an error with signing in, it tells valid emails they don’t exist. I could not even sign in to this app because it wouldn’t except any email. It looked cool and like a good app but it was impossible to sign in..Version: 6.2.1

It’s not the bestI’ve used SketchUp for years and I find the solutions they came up with for the mobile version are unintuitive in relation to the original computer version. Separate tools need to be selected for nearly every modification or addition, planes will move unexpectedly while selecting them, it’s not easy to select and delete segments…basically, the feeling is that I have to work extra hard to use this on my convenient tablet. Maybe I need to integrate a keyboard into the process, but then why wouldn’t I just just the full version? After waiting for a long time for this to arrive…I am now on;y going to use this as a viewer, and will continue to hope for a better alternative or some REALLY intuitive updates to this one. Until then, it’s just not a good companion to the full SketchUp App.Version: 6.0.8

Login brokenApp is unusable. When launched, you are presented with a blank white square that is supposed to be a login window, but none of the fields appear..Version: 6.2

Huge SketchUp fan, this one not so muchI am a longtime user of SketchUp, since around 2007, but over the years I have tried to find alternatives. The main reasons are that they switched to a web-based app (not a fan), I really detest subscriptions, and the implementation of the iPad version leaves a lot to be desired. For any 3D printing projects, I use Shapr3D on the iPad because SketchUp on the iPad is just not fun. I would like to be able to use the same shortcuts I use on my Mac. Things are just different. I wish Trimble would look at the implementation of navigation and drawing on Shapr3D for tips on how to make SketchUp better..Version: 6.2

Don’t bother unless you’re richMakes you sign up with tons of personal info only to not tell you how to use anything and make you pay to make a new file! :(.Version: 6.1.5

Expensive for DIY hobbyists $150/year!!Unless you have a revenue from using this app, $150/ year for a few time a year is too much expensive. Also any app with subscription is mostly a rip off, we should pay only once unless it provide extra service like librairie, etc. Too bad….Version: 6.1.0

Projects missingI logged into this app and the one project I created is nowhere to be seen. Instead I see a couple sample projects. I used the free web version of Sketchup to create the project. If this app does not show projects for non-upgraded (free) accounts, that should be readily apparent after logging into the app. It should present a listing of your projects, with some copy stating that you'll need to upgrade to view them in the app. There is no mention of it if this is indeed a limitation. If it is NOT a limitation, the app is just broken from a usability perspective. It makes no sense that you can create & save projects while logged in on web, then log in here and see nothing you created. If if IS a limitation, though, that is pretty ridiculous, because I can view my project with mobile Safari. There's a fine line between "extra features" (in the context of deciding whether to pay for software) and "reversing bad decisions" aka "making things less evil". I usually get angry about the latter things and don't end up paying for the software. I don't know why. Sketchup is obviously very useful. And I usually pay for useful software that I want to use. There must be some psychology behind it & some way for developers / product managers to optimize better for conversion. 1 star because this is basically useless as-is..Version: 5.4.3

Terribly buggy; don’t bother downloadingIf you’re here to complain about not being able to justify the price, then I wouldn’t worry about missing out. This is undoubtedly the slowest, most bug-riddled app I’ve ever downloaded. I have an M1 iPad Pro, so you’d think that would have enough firepower to keep even the most heavy duty apps running, but obviously not..Version: 6.0.5

Why so expensive??The price is insane. A bit full of yourself If you think your product is worth that much. 😆.Version: 6.0.6

Why pretend to be free?I wish these guys would be up front about costs. To say this app is free and just has “in-app” purchases is misleading. It basically can’t be used to create a design unless you buy a year’s subscription. But you don’t find that out until you install, create an account, agree to terms, etc. So frustrating. Why not just be honest and show the cost up front?.Version: 6.0.5

Waste of timeShould just be a paid App and not under “Free” section..Version: 6.1.0

What is this?Straight up - no drawing tools. Uninstall, try again. No drawing tools. View tools only. Hopeless..Version: 6.0.7

This company is a jokeThe browser version of Sketchup hasn’t been working for weeks. I thought I was going crazy but I found comments from other people complaining on Twitter as well. The web page where you’re supposed to log in literally just doesn’t work. It never loads the actual login part, so when you try to use sketch up you just get sent to a blank web page and can’t actually use the product. If this is how bad it functions why would I ever upgrade to the paid version lol? It’s been weeks with no fix. I’m surprised more people aren’t complaining. The one other person I saw mention it on Twitter pointed to a bunch of JS errors but never got a reply. Unbelievable.Version: 6.3.0

Crashes everytimeApp is great when it works but a model of a relatively modest file size will crash this app within 60 seconds of use. Very frustrating when trying to show people/clients as it constantly needs to be reloaded and steps repeated to get back to where you were, and then it will crash again.Version: 5.4.5

UnusableI’m not sure what the issue is, but the app is functionally unusable. It takes 2–5 attempts with an apple pencil before the action will register; trying to draw a simple rectangle becomes a 2 minutes exercise in frustration and misshapen rectangles, as the tool will decide to suddenly place the edge of the rectangle halfway through my stroke. I have generation of the iPad Pro prior to the M1, so I can’t see how the iPad is the issue, and my pencil functions flawlessly in every other app. I hope the bugs get worked out, because it would be worth upgrading from free to paid to be able to sketch with my pencil..Version: 6.0.7

PAYINGThis is so bad you have to pay to make a new creation.Version: 6.1.0

Why?I downloaded this in hopes of finally being able to do home design. Compared to the other apps/games, this one looked promising. I download it, make an account and I immediately get told that in order to truly use the app I have to pay $120 a year. Excuse me?! I would hope that for that much money the program is perfect. If it isn’t, I am sorry to those who have purchased this. I will never be able to find out though. ;-;.Version: 6.1.5

Terrible app, terrible pricingExtremely lame that you have to download the app and go through a silly authentication routine to find out they expect roughly half as much to use this app as they do for their “pro” subscription. The problem is this app is less than half the quality, value, and functionality. Why not just list the pricing up front and tell me this is a weaker version of the product so I can see immediately that it’s not for me instead of wasting my time?.Version: 6.0.7

I download this app and it’s just a viewer???I wanted to try this app. After I downloaded it, I found that there were two premade files. I did not have the ability to create a file of my own or to try the app. Every time hit the create button , it wanted me to fork over $119 for a subscription. This is ludicrous because I don’t even know if I like it. I wanted to “try” the free version firstBefore I had to actually pay for anything. IWouldn’t even have downloaded a stupid viewer. Also, while I’m on topic why don’t you guys have some sort of a basic tutorial either?.Version: 6.0.8

Waste of timeAfter came highly rated in a Reno group I’m in but I have no idea what is actually being used as this version doesn’t even allow you to try out a few features before expecting you to pay $175. Immediately deleted. Deserves no stars for making me create an account for zero usability..Version: 6.2

Waste of timeAfter two painful days, I have 2 rooms of a house done and spend most of my time screwing up my model trying to do basic things and hitting the undo button. It shouldn’t feel like a hard earned victory to get a rectangle the correct shape and size. I spend far too long trying to manually type sizes since there is nearly zero snap to grid functionality that works as expected. The camera is absolutely ridiculous and unusable for working inside of a room. I think Minecraft would be 1000 times better for architectural renderings..Version: 6.0.7

Tricking CustomersI actually paid $10 for this app and you refused to give me my money back even though you made it free to the public a few weeks after I bought it. I installed the update yesterday unknowingly that the app would now require that I give you my personal information and create an account so that you can collect info on me and others. That’s not our agreement upon purchase. You do not have the right the change the terms of our original agreement without a meeting of the minds. Unethical business practices..Version: 5.0

Can’t even try without payingStraight to the junk box.Version: 6.1.0

It doesn’t download your whole fileI have made a house recently on the chrome tab on my PC and I wanted to view it on my iPad, however this app does not download or let you view your whole file, I believe that it only show you the file up to when you first saved it because it shows you the accurate file size but does not download the whole thing so you can’t see what you have completed... apart from this it would have done exactly what I wanted it to do... I hope this gets fixed in an update! Also for some reason it thinks I live in America not Europe, so it’s been saving my files in an American server....Version: 4.0.2

Poor Login ImplementationWhy must I log in manually every single time I need to use this app? So annoying. Other than that it’s fine but that’s such an inconvenience..Version: 5.4.8

Latest v6.0.3 update locked me out of appI purchased SketchUp Viewer many years ago, my friends were impressed with the way I could rotate my drawn projects in 3D on my iPhone and iPad, but now this new v6.0.3 update won’t let me past the “Legal Stuff” page on iPad Air4, I have ☑️ the agreement box and constantly tapped the CONTINUE tab but nothing happens. What is the problem here? v5.5.1 update has prevented me from using this app, it keeps telling me my password is incorrect? If I start changing passwords my desktop SketchUp won’t let me access it?.Version: 6.0.3

“Updates” remove standard featuresI have a complete scale model of my condo, down to the inch. Now the app removed the tape measuring tool. It used to be an amazing tool to take with me to ikea or homedepot. Now my model is completely useless..Version: 6.2.3

Crashing! This app crashes after about 3 seconds in a model. Very annoyed I spent money on this..Version: 2.1.1

Forces you to make an accountAll I wanted to do was simply send a 3D sketch up file to a friend. When I realized that they would have to make an account just to open I file whether I text it to them or Dropbox it. The makers of Sketch Up need to realize that the users of this app are not the same as the users who make 3D models in the desktop app. All they want to do is view a model and spin it around. That’s it! No making usernames or passwords or any of that. Way to make a very simple task into a pain. Now it guess I’ll have to do a screen capture video to show them the design. 🙄😡 Thanks for nothing..Version: 5.0.1

Incomprehensible1) the navigation tools you show on the download page of the App Store simply don’t exist in the app. I can only rotate around the center of the model and pan. No way to “stand somewhere and look around”. The navigation button that you show on the download page simply doesn’t exist on the actual app 2) same with the AR function. It’s there on your screenshot of the app on your App Store page. Just not on the actual app. I have a sketchup pro account. So let’s say maybe this is me being stupid and these things exist but I simply haven’t found them. Ok. Fine. But that’s then a problem of a confounding and incomprehensible user interface which is completely different from what you present in the App Store. I’m deeply unimpressed by sketchup viewer and will probably simply migrate back to Home Design 3D which is less powerful but has functional and comprehensible navigation tools..Version: 5.5.1

Very disappointedBeing retired and on a limited income, I have been using the free desktop version of SketchUp for my comparatively infrequent and wholly hobbyist requirements. I cannot justify the cost of even the cheapest subscription model. I was hoping that the iPad version would offer the same functionality as the free desktop version, albeit with the same limitations, but it seems that it is little more than a viewer unless a subscription is purchased. As such, it is of no use to me and I won’t be installing it. I’m starting to use Autodesk Fusion 360 for my modelling needs. The free version is naturally “throttled back” from the subscription versions but it still has way more functionality than the free version of SketchUp, albeit with a steeper learning curve (at least for this 73 year old!) so it looks like I’ll be leaving the SketchUp fraternity. There’s no iPad version of Fusion 360 either, so it’s desktop use or nothing..Version: 6.0.4

Needs major improvementI wanted to like it since there is finally a competitor on the iPad against Shapr3D, unfortunately it is lacking way to much. 1. Limited file types, I would at least like 3mf added. 2. It is not very intuitive and does not display axis well making it difficult to sketch on desired planes. 3. If you are going to offer double/triple tap settings, they should have more than the “selection” tool offered. 4. When drawing lines it does not give an option to easily display lengths, to set parallel/perpendicular etc that I could find. The only feature it has that I love that Shapr3D doesn’t is the free draw option. Beyond this the app is severely lacking and in need of ui and capability updates, but I’m glad they have something to start, and hopefully by the end of the year they have a product I’m willing to pay for..Version: 6.1.5

Expensive, and the free part of the app is uselessExpensive, and the free part of the app is useless. I have tried a few design software tools and as far as I can tell this app doesn’t seem to be any better. If the developers want to improve this then I would suggest providing a free version that gives you at least some usability..Version: 6.2

Update removed critical functionalityIt almost feels like the purpose of this update was to ruin the app. 1. No more search function within the app? Why would you remove this unless you were purposefully trying to make the app useless. It’s a model viewer that doesn’t let you search models. 2. I can no longer set focal length? Am I missing something? I’m a professional storyboard artist and use the app to build reference images for my drawings. Without the ability to change the focal length of the camera, the app becomes practically useless. I genuinely can’t imagine why they would do this unless they don’t want people using this product anymore. They say full SketchUp is coming to ipad soon - maybe they’re trying to cripple SketchUp viewer, so they can force everyone into a paid subscription on the full app?.Version: 5.5.1

Doesn’t work with Apple Pencil.I do not recommend this app. At least until all the bugs are fixed. Just recently downloaded this app so am new to it. I was hoping this app was going to be excellent. However I could not even do the Get Started Tutorial as the app doesn’t register with my pencil… Pencil works fine with everything else outside this buggy app. It worked briefly once when I drew on the screen but was short lived. It has potential, but these bugs need to be fixed..Version: 6.3.0

It doesn’t workI have tried multiple times to get this app to work but I can’t seem to get it working. I will not blame the app but there are some quirks that are needing to be fixed. For example when I try to look up an tutorial on YT, I can’t follow them because my screen will not allow me to sketch on SketchUp also the apps doesn’t provide a great experience quality wise and I did delete the app immediately after trying again and again and again. Don’t like the app..Version: 6.2

Great app but needs workSketchUp is a great product but this should at least have some of the basic design functions especially on an iPad. Should be able to make minor design tweaks from the app rather than have to open up a laptop. Would be especially useful when presenting a project to customer on site. To be able to tweak a design in the field with customer..Version: 5.4.5

Can’t even access the appDownloaded the app, and all I get is an empty browser page with no ability to create an account. Turned off ad blockers and pop up blockers. Nada..Version: 6.2.1

Not what I expected for the price i paid.Wasted my money. I wasn't even able to view my woodworking project. Needs more options on everything! And especially an edit option.Version: 3.0

No Measurements or Dimensions Displayed.Works well, but does not show any measurements. Measurements & Dimensions would make this App perfect..Version: 2.1.51

Cannot log inThis app used to be great however recently it keeps asking me to log in, and on the log in screen (Trimble) you cannot enter your email address because the keyboard doesn’t come up when you touch the box!!.Version: 5.3

Needs workFine for viewing models, but it’s slow and forces logins at the most inconvenient times. Also, frustratingly still no support for the full screen on an iPad Pro almost a year after they were released. Come on guys!.Version: 5.0.1

It’s not freeI just want to create a design for a project and of course the app wants me to pay over 100 dollars to do so. Installation is free but all i can do is look at some dance place. What’s even the point. Don’t download unless you have that kind of money to waste on the app..Version: 6.0.7

I don’t knowWell I don’t know what to think. When I download an app I expect to be able to open it up and figure out quickly how to at least sketch something simple. I can’t even figure out how to get to a blank page to start drawing. Maybe I’m stupid and this app isn’t for me..Version: 6.1.0

Took a useful app and made it garbageIf the idea team behind the major update’s goal was to make everything more difficult to use then mission accomplished. Thanks for making my work day inexplicably more annoying..Version: 6.1.5

Crashes everytime. UselessIs 90mb a large file? App continues to crash when trying to open files of this size which, if app is unable to view files of this size and larger, what's the point...App looks nice but so far useless. I expected more from a $15 (AUS) app.Version: 3.1.2

Lack of foresightTrimble demonstrate a complete lack of foresight by denying casual users of Sketchup any access to a meaningful or useful app. Paying over £100 for something I might use once or twice a year is not realistic..Version: 6.1.5

Viewer great, now terribleThe SketchUp viewer was great. Now the app is super hard to use. I’m an artist and I build 3D environments to use as backgrounds for a graphic novel. I draw on my iPad so I used to be able to create my scene on my computer and then open it in the viewer, rotate and move around to the view I want, and then save a screencap. Now the move/rotate tools are barely functional. A slight movement zooms me way out or to a totally different area of the map - it’s incredibly difficult and time consuming to use. Worst of all, the camera depth option is gone. That was one of the most important features. I searched the help topics, which provided no useful options. I sent a message to support asking for help and never heard back..Version: 6.0.4

Like many others: IAP price is far too high.I used to be a casual Sketchup user, but the constant attempts to extract money from my pocket turned me off Sketchup. I am willing to pay a fair and reasonable price for software, at a tiered pricing level (N dollars for X components, P dollars for Y components, etc.). but the IAP price for this, and the lack of coordination between the app pricing and the other means to use sketchup means that Trimble’s trying to double and triple dip in my wallet. For the majority of what I need, i’ve switched to Moblo, which has enough of what I need for a basic modelling..Version: 6.3.0

Not much onboardingCan’t really figure out how to work this and the Learn section says under construction. Needs more onboarding.Version: 6.0.5

Too pricyTell me before I had to create an account that it is 150$/year. I would have liked a free version too..Version: 6.1.1

Still waiting... for the robots at the 3d warehouse to render existing models uploaded from computer. Pity there's no way to import them directly to this app from Dropbox. Disappointed..Version: 1.1

Paying twice for the app??My regular sketchup account doesn't work for the ipad app. Paying twice, no thanks. The free version even doesn’t allow to try it. I couldn't do anything to assess the app properly..Version: 6.2.3

Critically buggyIf you edit and update your SketchUp model this app will not retrieve the up-to-date model. Even after deleting the model from viewer, clearing it from recent apps on iPad, renaming the model online, then downloading the model with the new name, the old version of the model persists. I had to completely DELETE THE APP from my iPad and re download to retrieve a new version of the model for viewing. After searching the SketchUp forums I discovered this has been an issue since 2018. The latest response from the dev team, which is a year old as of Jun 2021 does not offer a working solution and says they’re working on it. I can’t understand how something that is the most basic of functionality can take this long to fix. Clearly they don’t spend much time working on this app..Version: 5.4.5

You download it thinking it’s free but it’s notStick with the free version is a joke, all you can do it look at the Home Screen, can’t even make a new project.Version: 6.1.5

Good but…I really just need a viewer app for SketchUp files to get some background scenes for making a webtoon. However, the files I wanna use are often city scapes over 500mb, and this app won’t open them without crashing since they’re so big. I’d love if this app can open those giant files on my iPad, honestly I’d pay for an upgrade even if it means I can view them on my iPad easily! This is literally the only thing I need before I’d consider this app to be perfect at what it does, so I’ll rate the app 5 stars when I can do so (and of course I’ll buy the upgrade immediately)..Version: 5.4.8

Crash a lotThis is not a cheap App. I was used to the desktop version and happy to able to work on my iPad. Some features from the desktop are not available on the this version. It’s a good tool but crashes a lot and this is a big problem. There isn’t updates, so can’t blame on that..Version: 6.1.5

Not goodImagine.Version: 6.2.1

Sketch up has gone downhillIt used to be a useful program. Now the usability is terrible..Version: 6.0.8

No keyboard to log in with.I would love to rate the actual app if I could physically use it. When trying to log in it does not give me a keyboard to input email and password. Only works in landscape too. iPhone 11..Version: 5.3

Subscription cost is a rip-off!I really like this app but paying $150 for yearly subscription as a casual user is way too much to pay. I hope they reconsider their subscription model!.Version: 6.1.4

No measure featureA bloated viewer missing the most critical feature, measure tape. Happy readjust rating if you listen to our feedback. Thanks!.Version: 6.1.1

A big nope.I am so very sick and tired of apps that present nothing but a login screen with nary a mention of same in the App Store listing. Have a single star..Version: 5.4.8

So expensiveSadly there is no longer a free or affordable SketchUp version for hobbyists. Which is frustrating as I have many years of experience invested. Reluctantly, I will be learning FreeCAD for my 3D printing hobby..Version: 6.2.1

Miffed, annoyed and dismayed. My pleasure turned to annoyance when I clicked onto the “Create New” button, within the totally free version, only to find that nothing new can be created. Was this version tested? Charge whatever you like but do not have fake buttons..Version: 6.0.4

Won’t even let me sign inI need to urgently review house plans and I can’t even sign in on the app. The pop up for cookies pops up and won’t go away so the app won’t let me do anything at all. Useless.Version: 5.4.2

Poor marketing and false sense of usability, don’t get.I got this app wanting to draw small things just to help talk about an idea with family only to be greeted with a requirement to create an account, this was annoying but somewhat understandable. On sign up, I was greeted with being told to actually draw you need to pay monthly. I feel like they just wanted my email and information. Also if you don’t know what your doing, good luck as on clicking the icon I assume was help with how to use the app, you are greeted with that it’s a work in progress feature. How can you use an entirely touchscreen app, that I remind you, you have to pay for to draw, without instructions..Version: 6.0.7
