I like the app butThis app needs a bit more direction. The kids are allowed to bypass many parts of each lesson without the practice neededso when they get to the reading part of the lesson, it tends to fall apart because they get too frustrated. They shouldn’t be allowed to continue until all work on each level has been completed. I would also like to suggest some kind of internal timer so that the app can gauge when a child is ready to move up to the next level. If it’s taking your child 5 minutes to read one small sentence, they’re not ready to go on to the next level. The kids love it though but now it’s too hard for their level and they’ve gotten frustrated. Maybe it’s just me and I haven’t sat down to learn everything the app has to offer. I might be missing something but this is what I’ve seen so far..Version: 4.0.5

Not compatible with PC applicationThis game is great on PC. Very disapointing on Ipad as you can't use the account you created on a PC or create additional account on the ipad to save progress of more than one child. The IPAD app is only useful if you have only one child using the same ipad all the time so this way it can save the progress of your child..Version: 1.0.2

Intros to each game are too longThe intros to each game are so long my kids loose interest before the game has even begun. When the game begins its slow and boring. Confused about all the good reviews..Version: 3.9

Terrible support for what would be a great gameGame crashes at the goblin king. Have tried to contact them for 6 months because this app really does help. Shame really.Version: 3.0

Not for everyoneI liked this app originally but I wish the audio was in standard American English. The characters speak a sort of British/Australian English where I cannot hear the R sound. My child is learning “Noth” instead of “North” and “Huh” instead of “her” and so on. It makes it difficult for my budding reader to do a lesson when words he can usually understand he now cannot and I don’t really want him to pick up speaking with this style of pronunciation as we don’t speak that way here. In combination with the fact that after my child completed the letter sounds the lessons went right into expecting him to fully read sentences (fun with words). I expected a bit more of an explanation to the child or to be guided into blending sounds but you truly are expected to read a sentence and complete the action, after only learning letter sounds. Unfortunately we may no longer use this app.Version: 3.9

It’s good but could be great with some tweaksMy nearly 4 year old daughter has learnt a lot playing this game. I think it’s definitely improved her reading and recognition of more complex phonetic sounds. She enjoys the games and even though I find it repetitive she doesn’t seem to mind. She loves dressing up her monster and checking all her trickies. She’s now on the space part of the game and it’s getting increasingly difficult which is where I think the game could be improved. Firstly, although there is a practice mode this is not very well made and feels very drawn out with little educational value. Also the stars collected in this mode to not appear to be added to her main account. It would be much better if she could repeat chapters of the main story and repeat the letter sounds to practice them. Secondly, she hates the Cookie Monster for some reason and freaks out because of the noise it makes when she gets it wrong. Some of the characters are quite annoying in this respect. Especially that squirrel dude who sounds like a car horn. Lastly, as a gamer I find it confusing as to why you can collect fruit even though it appears to have no value or purpose. Can’t this have some kind of purpose even if it’s just silly?.Version: 4.1

Waste of moneyI think this app is a scam.Version: 4.1

Kids really enjoyed this but finished too quickly and only 1 player option on iPadAll my kids really enjoyed this miss 4 is still enjoying the levels, mr 8 finished it within the day, and mr 10 really wants to get it in a level that would challenge him, he says the adventures look pretty cool, better than any other one he's seen! BUT... There needs to be an option to fast forward to higher levels on the PC version, and I can't find the next levels on IPad yet? Are they going to be available soon? Eager to try it out on the bigger kids.Version: 1.0.2

Buggy on recent devices and i/iPadOSFrequently does not display words in cookies, instead your just see the blank section where the word should be. Similarly, on stepping stone games, often the letters are replaced by ‘.’ , a full stop or period instead. Frustrating for kids and adults because then it just becomes and random guessing game until you pick the right combinations..Version: 4.1

App does not workI just bought this app for iPad. It does not work. It asks for user name & password, but does not allow to create account. Really disappointed..Version: 4.1

Sooooo boringThis app is just so boring and it’s a shame people think this is the answer to learning. It’s repetitive and so much more effort seems to have gone into the development of the characters than the actual process of learning phonics. There is no way for a child to check if they are making the correct sound themselves, so this app will reinforce mistakes. I’d be much better off just spending time with my sons and finding our own fun things to spell. It’s not difficult. And how is a 3 year old supposed to know how to use an app like this anyway? All effort will be spent just trying to make something happen and by then my son is bored and heading outside to dig up worms to count. Don’t waste your time downloading this. Spend some actual time with your children instead..Version: 3.8.2

It is not the worst but it has to changeSooo I been using this app for 1 year and I LOVE ❤️ it. but it could have some changes but still I LOVE this app soooo much but I still wish it could been better just please😭😭😭 make it better just please😭 because some games on it is NOO fun😭😭😭 so now I kind of hate it sorry i'm soo sorry😭 teach your monster how to read i'm just so sorry I just need to say this actually I was going to write more but I think i'm going to stop writing now and stay safe of this sheltering thing anyways bye.Version: 4.0.5

DifficultStarts off very well but gets difficult for my 4 year old. One of the games is just too fast for her to read and then distinguish the answer. I think this could be better if we could revisit the games to actually learn the lesson. We’ve moved onto reading sentences but it’s too quick of a jump for us unfortunately. Looks like we won’t be playing this as often as I’d like to which is a shame as we used it every day for a while..Version: 4.0

Proxy IssueFantastic app HOWEVER downloaded on all our school iPads but it won’t let the kids log in due to proxy issue. App won’t allow auto proxy yet we (like most schools using an MDM) must use auto proxy settings due to our caching server. This is poor programming on the developer’s part and the only app we have ever had this issue with. Please update the app to allow auto proxy!!!.Version: 3.1

We lost all progressWe had logged in on the app. Son was loving it, but lost all the progress with no way to recover. He now says what’s the point. Don’t both the help on the webpage is useless and it’s hard to follow linking better the app and webpage, bad design..Version: 3.9

Good but not GreatI love the concept but I don’t love that my child can guess her way through the game. I would love to see something put into place that forces her to actually learn the material such as making her redo the level if she makes too many errors. But now she’s at such a high level that I don’t know how to get her back to where she should be without wiping her account and making her start back over at the beginning as she’s past letters and sounds. I’ll probably just stick to better reading programs like Reading Eggs because I know that she can’t guess her way through (she has to repeat if she makes too many errors while just guessing to see what works)..Version: 3.1

Not for older kidsHi! This is a great App - for young readers. This came recommended by a friend (who is a SLT) to support my sons writing (phonetic awareness) unfortunately, my 8 yr old son has found this far too ‘babyish’ and finds it very frustrating to work/play with. ☹️.Version: 3.9

Too video-game-ish for usCute app but it is way too much like a video game for us to feel comfortable having our kids use it everyday. If you get this app I highly suggest previewing it yourself before showing it to your child. I would say it is 70 percent video game and 30 percent literacy. Received a response from the developer which reiterated their commitment to the video game aesthetic... that is fine, I know that sort of approach to learning has been pretty normalized in our society. But my review is for those parents, and yes there are many of us, that don’t want our four year olds getting addicted to video games at a young age. This app is mostly a video game with a little literacy for garnish..Version: 3.9

Not very intuitiveTap the blocks to build the spaceship: I had no idea how to solve that second level. It would be much better to have the audio of the letters on loop. It issues a frustrating long time to try to figure how to progress instead of designing the app for a young child to have greater exposure to phonetics..Version: 5.0

Fun but...Not enough games/levels/etc for how much I paid for it. Hopefully there will be future updates with more activities or more challenging levels or I'm going to be disappointed..Version: 1.0.2

Poorly Thought OutI’ve recently purchased this app for my 3 year old. He already knows a few sounds so thought this would be a fun way to learn a few more. The game play is clunky and the games are either very easy or difficult. The flower game gives barely any time for children to see which sound they are looking for. There is no consolation of the sounds they have previously learnt beyond them randomly appearing in other games. We have tried quitting the game at different points but when reopening it never ‘teaches’ the next sound he’s looking for which must be a glitch. I then have to teach it to him separately so he will recognise it in a game. Every few levels they randomly drop in a tricky word. It says, “Let’s learn a tricky word.” Where you are asked to find a tricky word in a sentence. This word has never been introduced to them before and I suppose they are supposed to blindly touch words until they pick the right one? Again, these are not consolidated and seem completely pointless. Also, they often have a capital letter which seems odd in a game teaching lower case letter recognition. I rarely pay for apps and I’m a bit gutted to have paid £5 for it. We will continue to work through it as he does enjoy playing it but that is mainly due to the prizes you win after each round. As a Foundation stage teacher I feel like they needed to have more input from Early Years Practitioners perhaps?.Version: 4.1

Kids loved it, but can not add another monster or restartBoth of my children love the game! It is fun and simple way of learning letters :) They were really disappointed that they could not add more monsters either to have more than one player listed or to repeat the tasks once they had finished the game (without loosing their first monster)..Version: 1.0.2

Started great but…The jump to the next level is crazy, it’s starts with letter sounds, only focusing at sounds without too much practice on the shape, writing or repetitive reminders etc, it moves on to the next letter, ok so far so good, and then it goes immediately into words, with letters in comparison that they haven’t done yet, unable to press the letter sounds to repeat what they need to look for, child gets frustrated because he/she doesn’t get it and gets dropped. So not recommended tbh.Version: 4.1

Sound not workingMy kids love this game, but sometimes the sound stops working when they need to hear a word to spell or the letter sounds.Version: 4.0.5

Login is always an issueSee title.Version: 4.0.5

OkFun app but moves through the letter sounds too quickly, before my son has had a chance to learn them properly. He struggles to complete some of the games as he doesn’t remember most of the sounds. It’s also a pity that the sounds are said quietly compared with the voice instructions..Version: 3.1

ScammersI paid money for the app but it didn’t work. So I have decided to sue your dumb company..Version: 5.0

Not working want my money backThis app refuses to load on my iPhone 11 - please refund my money as I don’t usually pay for kids apps and this is truly disappointing..Version: 5.0

I would like my money backI would rate this a zero. Couldn’t open up the game. I would like my money back.Version: 4.1

Fun learning with some flawsThe speakers on the app have an English (UK) accent. We are American. This make understanding the new letter sound combinations difficult for a new reader, especially those ending in r (as we tend to pronounce the ending r sound when those from England do not). My son loves the games and learning new words, but I don’t feel that he is fully grasping new information before the game allows him to progress. There is one section where he has to read a full sentence and follow the instructions. I have to read those for him because he only knows about half the words..Version: 3.2

Volume issueThe volume just turns off on the game sometimes. I actually have to turn off my phone to get the volume working on the game again. It may be just my phone but I don’t change any setting on my phone and it doesn’t do this for other applications..Version: 4.1

Not happyI paid and can’t download the app , couldn’t get any help.Version: 4.1
