Narwhal 2 for Reddit for Positive User Reviews

Outstanding. 1 gripe. This has finally broken my reddit virginity, great job. But can you add an option to delete sub-reddit searches? Maybe I haven't looked hard enough..Version: 2.0

Best Reddit appBest Reddit app I've found, has been for a few years now. Just does the job with minimal fuss and a clean interface..Version: 2.12

Great AppA really well made, no-nonesense Reddit app. Well worth the purchase to remove ads. The built in video player needs some work, scrubbing is unreliable. It would also be really nice if content filtering was more advanced. I'd like to filter out posts matching text on specific subreddits, maybe even regular expression matching..Version: 2.22

My favourite Reddit app for iOSI used Alien Blue for a while, but wasn't happy with a major UI update so I decided to try out as many Reddit apps as possible. Narwhal is the cleanest, simplest Reddit app I've found..Version: 2.4.2

Glad to see it updatedI can’t stand the official app, was worried 3rd party apps were dead but seeing as it’s updated it looks like it will survive.Version: 2.100

Just glad it exists at allMost people who use the official reddit app think it's okay, and that's fine. I always thought that it was trying too hard to sell content you weren't looking for and the options for customization are too limited so I was using Apollo for a long time. Since that app no longer exists I think Narwhal is now a good alternative and gets me to the content I'm looking for much quicker and offers tons of customization options, so I'm happy to use it instead..Version: 2.104

OMG its smooth as butterSuch a long time waiting on my 14 PM a buttery smooth scrolling third party app. One of the only devs who knows how to optimize for promotion. Even Apollo was jumpy. Hats off to the developer, also great set of features. This will become the new Apollo 😀.Version: 2.113

Amazing AppThank you to the developer for making my favourite app. I have used almost everyday for years. Very happy to pay to support this app. Long may narwhal continue. Thank you det0ur. I love you..Version: 2.104

Paid for Pro, Ads still getting through !I’ve just reinstalled and restored all purchases as directed. It says purchase restored yet the lower ads still show every now and then!!! Is this a sneaky plan????.Version: 2.14

One suggestion...I've tried many Reddit Clients and I always find myself returning to the Reddit Website. Narwhal has been an exception, I will be using it as my go to app on a day to day basis. If I was to give a suggestion, basic tools for moderators is a must, even simple tools such as removing posts..Version: 2.0

Silky smoothBy far the most responsive reddit client I've used. The design is really excellent in terms of economy of space, and it has the most important feature for any app with text: NIGHT MODE..Version: 1.4

Easily the bestPure and simple, the best reddit app out there! Jumped from alien blue to this given AB is no longer maintained and the official reddit app is shockingly bad. Good job guys, well worth the £5.Version: 2.13.1

Great app! After using alien blue for months with no updates or bug fixes I finally decided to try this app and I love it! The interface is so clean and straightforward with the swiping gestures, but most of all it's just so fast! Loads much faster than alien blue, I would def recommend to give it a try!!.Version: 2.0

Best Reddit app by farI have tried every Reddit app under the sun, but will always come back to narwhal. Feels like a real pro tool for using Reddit. The layout makes browsing extremely easy and just works. I found other apps to not be great when I comes to browsing more text based subreddits, but Narwhal really hits that sweet spot..Version: 2.17.1

A better experience than...Think about a reddit app where everything down to the minor details is customisable to give the user the best reddit experience ever. Think about the official reddit app and everything stupid and that you hate about it that could be easily fixed but it's not. Well, this app fixes all that, this app is better than reddit's offical app and gives the user a much much better experience, an experience that even that slutty rancid swine that Spez's mum is could not give..Version: 2.10

Fantastic customisationReally great app by default, but has so many customisation options to make it just how you like it. The spirit of Alien Blue and Apollo definitely feels like it’s here..Version: 2.100

Polished Superior ExperienceGreat app with wonderful beyond minimal support and updates. Prompt and useful updates and change log and very clear. They've explained and apologised for the super large ads which I've noticed lots of users have complained about and immediately put out a notice to users. Taking immediate action to remove and explain. Regardless that it was not their fault they were nothing but courteous and deserve to be supported. (Bonus perks to supporting is that I never have to see an ad and can reward them for diligence in making sure that even for those who don't remove them it's a pleasant enjoyment experience) Can recommend this to all reddit users and it feels more native to iOS and reddit than the reddit app or mobile site itself. A real pleasure to use. Keep up the good work guys!.Version: 2.11.1

Don’t pay to remove ads, doesn’t workHave reinstalled the app, restored purchase but still have ads at the bottom. What a rip-off!!.Version: 2.16.1

Take my money!!!Clicking logo changes it from night mode to day mode!!.Version: 2.22

Still goodI used this a few years ago but stopped because the video player had a lot of issues and I think some other things. It runs much smoother and better now. The only problem I have is with the “hide all”/“hide read”/“mark all as read”. If you hide everything with or w/o marking as read, and refresh, everything you just hid is now unbidden. So hours of scrolling through things and then hiding all of that simply so it doesn’t show up yet again, only for *all* of it to show up again. It happens if you leave the app for awhile and come back as well. Thank you thank you THANK YOU for giving the ability to filter subs. I get so sick of seeing the exact same ones over and over on r/all and ones that I have no understanding of (like fandoms I’m not a part of). EDIT**** now I remember why I deleted Narwhal. The “hide all” feature doesn’t work either as intended or as expected. It’s *so* frustrating when 100s of posts you specifically didn’t want to see again show up AGAIN AND AGAIN. I don’t mean to be harsh, it’s a great app. It’s just that one thing that ruins it for me..Version: 2.37

Best Reddit App!I used alien blue before it was screwed over, and looking for an alternative switched to this one. Small learning curve but l really like it. It’s far better than any other ones out there! I even bought the premium version which I rarely do but these guys deserve my small contribution for a great app. Also the app icon is adorable so that’s a nice thing too..Version: 2.34

Great reddit app, with one exception that comes to mindNarwhal makes it super easy and intuitive to read what my family calls “an extremely stressful and overwhelming amount of content” on a mobile device. My ONE gripe is the video playback - occasionally, the video freezes on the first frame and I have to reload/fiddle with it to get it to play properly. And then when it does play and I want to skip to certain parts, the app video player has no idea what to do and skips around, often jumping to the same moment in the video regardless of where I am scrubbing. Maybe it’s just me? Otherwise, when I’m not viewing videos, the app is pretty great.Version: 2.17.2

Love the app! Please add the option to disable swipe left and right for upvote or comment etc. for those who just want to browse through reddit without upvoting or downvoting random stuff..Version: 2.11

Making the best of an awful situationI’ve used the original Narwahl ad-free since as long as I’ve had an iPhone. Fantastic app, and I prefer it to any other mobile Reddit app by far. The API changes Reddit is making is downright greedy. I disagree with everything they are doing. However, the dev is extremely transparent and generous to what this app is offering DESPITE what Reddit is doing with their platform. If you want a premium way to view Reddit, this is your best bet. Dev deserves the money for all the hard work. Just wish that money didn’t end up in Reddits hands..Version: 2.104

Flair FilteringAnyway to add it?.Version: 2.31

IPad 10.5 UI to iPhone X?I love this app so much! I tried every reddit client out there before downloading Narwhal, and this is the one that works for me. I love it on my phone and ipad, and I wish reddit looked like it on the actual website. The ipad app, though, is so much better than the phone app. Would you be able to allow plus-size phones and the X to work like the ipad UI in when turned to landscape? Not sure how much extra work it is, but I'd love it. I supported you guys and would really appreciate it if you'd add that feature. And please take care of the gifs that autoplay sound until the app is force-quit. Thanks again for this awesome app!.Version: 2.15

A New HopeApollo refugee. Tried both Narwhal and the official Reddit app post-shutdown (Thanks Spez 🙃) and neither felt good. Bounced between both apps over the last few months, considered just side loading an older version of Apollo. Not sure how the API limits work with it though. Jump to today, and I see Narwhal 2 is available. Within minutes I felt at home. Took a few adjustments in settings to setup a left-sided UI, custom colors, and a bottom bar layout of my own design. Will happily pay the monthly fee when it starts up to the dev(s). I was an Apollo Ultra user so I’m already comfortable paying for a premium experience. Hate that Reddit gets a portion for their insane API costs, but this is a significantly better alternative (in all aspects) than paying for Reddit Premium..Version: 2.100

Excellent alternative to official Reddit appGreat app almost flawless. Contains most of the features of the previous best third party app Apollo and even extras that I use all the time which were not in Apollo. Subscription cost exists not due to the developer but Reddit themselves. Subscription cost is standard price for unlimited api usage instead of charging more frequent users more. Same price as Reddit premium with 100x more features with the main bonus being not needing to use Reddit. Excellent app..Version: 2.104

Very goodLots of good and useful features. Has the occasional bug/glitch (eg after switching between landscape and portrait on 7+). Best reddit client out there..Version: 2.13

Definitely the best reddit appNarwhal continues to be the best Reddit app on iOS. Regularly updated. Been using it for a few years and I can’t imagine using any other app for Reddit. I've tried Alien Blue, Apollo, the official app and a few others. narwhal hits them all out of the park..Version: 2.32

Way better than the official Reddit appI’ve been using Narwhal for years. It’s my go-to app whenever I go to Reddit. Before Reddit forced users to view all mature content and other non-mature ones only in Reddit itself, Narwhal was my choice. It’s also very sad that Reddit forced Narwhal to decide to go on a subscription-only app. I wanted to pay for the subscription to support the developer, but I can’t view all of the content that Reddit wants/forces us to view through their trash app. I hope Narwhal can go back to have a free version, albeit with ads, but I don’t mind the ads. Like I said, I may pay for the subscription to support the developer, but I’m paying too much things currently. It was great experiencing Narwhal for the past 5 years that I’ve been using it for free..Version: 2.104

Best Reddit AppFast and all the features you'll need. I've tried all Reddit apps and this is the best one by far. Thanks for all your hard work..Version: 2.12

Great app, great supportOnly thing missing for me is being able to swipe left and right between posts.Version: 2.34

True black + autoplay gifsI don’t think I’ve ever reviewed an app before. Been using Narwhal for years now but the recent update with true black and autoplaying gifs takes it from 9/10 to 11/10. Get this..Version: 2.14

It's great, but I preferred the old layoutWith the new Narwhal 2 update, the old layout I had been used to for years has gotten an update. Great in some ways, bad in others. I never liked accidentally opening my mailbox when I intended to open the app menu. But anyways, what I am trying to say is that the old layout in terms of ease of use and navigation was so much better. I don't know why it's not a style option even now, but if you can keep the retro app icon, then surely you can keep the retro layout and font size. Thing is, while the customization is great, I feel like I would have to configure way too many things to simply try to get the same experience as Narwhal 1, even though this should be added as a single, configurable layout..Version: 2.101

Great App, but has recent freezing issuesThis app came through clutch once I had to let go of Alien Blue. It took some getting used to since I used Blue for sooo long, but once I got the hang of the format I quickly learned to love it. The ease of organizing your most frequented subreddits is probably my favorite feature. Also the search feature is great! Commenting is easy along with upvoting and downvoting. Recently I’ve run into issues with a freezing bug. It has only gotten worse every day for the last week. The app will just randomly freeze when scrolling forcing me to close the app and wait a second before opening it up again. I’m sure this bug will be fixed, but it’s gotten to the point where the app is almost unusable. Please fix it so I can go back to loving this app!.Version: 2.17.2

I highly recommend this appThis is such a good app. easy surfing, so easy to get around. had options to customise everything that ive needed to. this is the best app for reddit..Version: 2.16.1

BrilliantI've tried about 5 different reddit apps and this is by far the best. Snappy, clean, loads of reddit character and feel In the ui, a lovely, well built, app. Illustrations are cool too..Version: 2.1

Almost perfectI think this app is one of the best ways of browsing reddit on my iPad. However, there is one complain I have: The left sidebar, where you scroll through the list of posts in a sub, is just too narrow. There is the <-> icon at the top of the screen, but, from what I can tell, it can only be used to make the comments section on the right even bigger, but there is no way to make the topic section on the left any bigger than a narrow bar. Since every post title takes up multiple vertical lines, you can see fewer of them on the screen at once, and it takes a lot more scrolling to get through a sub than it would if there was a way to make the list wider (so that each topic takes up only one). I would like to see: - An option to at least split the screen 30/70, 50/50, or 70/30, between the topics list and comments view. This could be done by simply adding a couple more buttons at the top, near the existing one. - And/or I think it would be nice to be able to use a horizontal 2 finger swipe gesture to slide the divider back and forth (essentially doing what the <-> is doing, only adding the ability to 2-finger swipe to the right to shrink comments and expand topics list). - An option or button to set it so that the posts/topics list takes up a majority of the screen while you’re scrolling through it, until you tap on a post, which will automatically expand the article/comments side of the screen..Version: 2.30

Amazing app for use with redditBlows the official app out of the water, this is by far the best social media app I’ve used. Amazing quality of life features and a really intuitive interface. I highly recommend it!.Version: 2.104

Wow! Amazing app!!!!!!!Update: i still love the app but one nagging issue is that my keyboard lags severely only when using this app, the screen will also freeze up entirely in Narwhal, I have tried force closing , clearing cache etc in the app, restarting device, but it still occurs and only happens when using the app, needs an update to fix. I am On iPad mini 2 , OS 12.3.1. Prior review: I love this Reddit client app, surpasses the official Reddit app, it has more free customizations than Apollo, better UI as well,I love the sliding action to upvote , downvote, etc , the two pane design looks great on my iPad. Great job developers, I can also change the app icon, 10 stars!!!!.Version: 2.19

Do you want the best?Well do you??? Ok sorry maybe that was a bit intense. Narwal is the best reddit app there is. No debate. No question. Sorry are you still reading and not downloading it. Jeez.Version: 2.0

Great AppShame Reddit forced the subscription but miles better than the official Reddit app.Version: 2.104

Great Reddit App as an Apollo RefugeeThis app is super customizable so i don’t understand all the complaints that people have. And honestly the pricing isn’t bad considering how horrible the official reddit app is with ads. This app has no ads and is 10x better than the official app. I wouldn’t highly recommend putting in some “preset” settings to alleviate the people complaining. Like a Narwhal 1 preset and an Apollo preset so things feel more at home for the people that can’t be bothered to spend any time looking through the settings. Also i highly recommend changing the menu bar to be left so you can swipe forward and backward..Version: 2.101

I can't fault this app. It's hands down the best iOS Reddit client.I've used Alien Blue for years by this is glorious in comparison. Every interaction is intuitive, I love the way it uses gestures, it's so fluid. Fantastic..Version: 2.2

Best UI of any iOS reddit app. Needs updates.I keep coming back to narwhal because it’s the only Reduit app I’ve found that has a split list/post mode and has a simple, non card based UI. That being said, they haven’t updated for gfycat with doing and often after extended Reduit sessions, links and videos stop working until I restart the app. Would also be nice to have modding features..Version: 2.23

So much betterI tried this app because my official reddit app went mental and used half my data in a few days whilst I actually used it a little less than normal. What a blessing in disguise. This app might not be as pretty and takes a little getting used to, but once you do, it’s so customisable! That alone makes so much difference - being able to filter out all those toxic subs full of idiots is for me the biggest selling feature by far. Oh, and yes: it significantly reduced my data usage..Version: 2.22

The best reddit client there is!The most intuitive UI out there. Great app.Version: 1.3

True Black Dark ModeAmazing! Finally we have the true black dark mode setting, thank you! Narwhal #1!.Version: 2.14

The best reddit client on iOS.As titled..Version: 2.6

Nice UIGood app, but support for read later services (e.g. Pocket) would be welcome.Version: 1.1

Useful Reddit appJust an all round good Reddit app that doesn't annoy me..Version: 2.3.1

UnderratedSimple but customisable, no gimmicks, way better than official reddit app. Highly recommend.Version: 2.17.1

Great but 1 thing...I love the Narwhal but I have one problem - you cannot flair! Impost regularly but many of my posts from Narwhal get removed because I can't flair. For this reason I have converted back to native Reddit (which I feel is too ad-clogged). Devs, if you read this add flairing, I beg. PM me on Reddit u/_akbar. Thanks!.Version: 2.16.1

BrilliantMakes redditting (yes that’s a verb now) so effortless. I don’t have an iPhone but on the iPad it really works well and makes use of the full screen.Version: 2.16.1

Great app and an even better developerThe developer of the app, det0ur, is probably the most active dev I've ever seen with the community, he comments so much in the app's subreddit, this is highly appreciated and gives me a lot of confidence in the dev and the app. 5 stars just for the insane work ethic the dev has clearly displayed with the new and improved Narwhal. Also the amount of one star reviews being put just because the developer was FORCED to place them is ridiculous. You should be grateful Narwhal even exists in the first place because it's pretty much the only third party app on iOS that actually put in the work to stay viable. The monthly subscription is Reddit's fault, not Narwhal's, so those terrible reviews and ratings are completely misplaced..Version: 2.104

Best Mobile Reddit Client, hands downLove this client!.Version: 2.3

It’s not the app devs fault…That Reddit started charging through the roof for their API. I bought pro somewhere around 7 years ago for like $3 - pretty sure I got my moneys worth as a daily user. When the dev was discussing, transparently, estimated subscription pricing there were tiers based on API calls and he settled on what seemed best and most fair for all users. Do I love paying for another subscription? No. But I value the privacy, love the customization, and appreciate how the dev is constantly working with the community to deliver a great product for those who wish to use it..Version: 2.104

Best reddit app everThis is smooth and nice to look at - definitely recommend. If you want to view reddit via phone USE THIS APP!!.Version: 2.1

Better than expected, but poor video playerNarwhal is a good app for our post-API Reddit world. Thank you for your work. A huge miss is the video player. It has decent scrubbing from the timeline, but after a few seeks it will always completely disable the app control, forcing the user to finish watching the video or swipe the app away. Would love to see: 1. Full screen video scrubbing 2. App control does not freeze after multiple video seeks 3. Ability to save video 4. When viewing comments, option to show full media instead of top half by default (height-priority instead of width) 5. For dark mode, option to change color of blue text for links, especially the subreddit.Version: 2.48

Clean and fastI’ve compared narwhal to the official Reddit app a few times and narwhals strength is it’s simplicity and layout in its interface that makes browsing thru Reddit very fast and efficient. The official Reddit app is so busy and poorly laid out. With narwhal I can scan more posts in a shorter amount of time. Plus narwhal has single tap comment collapse and automatically marks posts as read and has the “mark all above as read” feature and even a “hide all above” to organize posts better so you don’t keep re-reading the same post titles. If you go through tons of posts per day on Reddit, narwhal is the better choice. It has better control over font settings too. I hope the creators never mess up narwhal and try to be more like the official Reddit app with more flashy icons that are just not necessary..Version: 2.41

Keeps getting better after every update!Just needs a few additional features such as uploading to imgur. This is supposedly an upcoming feature so looking forward to next few updates for sure..Version: 2.1

Best surviving Reddit AppLook, we all hate subscriptions and Reddit isn’t doing anyone any favors. The official Reddit app is absolute garbage, Apollo was beautiful but is gone. Narwhal has always been a solid choice, this new version not only includes several requested features but also overcomes the hurdle imposed by the Reddit forced API situation. This is a great app and has lots of features, please review accordingly . The developer is trying to provide an alternative to the hot garbage official app and a subscription is required. The web-scraping apps aren’t going to survive Reddit’s forced pricing..Version: 2.104

The new best Reddit appThe new update made me go from missing Apollo to happy I'm using a replacement that's just as great to use. Thank you!.Version: 2.104

One of the best reddit clients out thereBeen using narwhal since it was first launched. UI has always been sleek and smooth. Doesn't limit functionality. The ability to customize everything is always a plus. The developer is always eager to hear feedback and implement changes quickly through timely updates. After a few months of use, I couldn’t help but pay for the app as i felt i wanted to give something back to the devs for an app that i use multiple times, every day..Version: 2.13

Best app for Reddit browsingFull of features, easy to use. Has text and font options, multireddits, favourite reddits, easy upvote/downvote, nice crisp photos. Etc... What else can one want ?👍👍👍.Version: 2.4.2

Best Alternative AppThe official reddit app is very battery consuming and does not feature near as many features his app has built-in! It also is buttery smooth to touch and feels like an app which was built to utilise the IOS software. Trust me when I say this, once you use this app you will never want to go back to the official one!.Version: 2.12

Almost a perfect app (iPAD)Everything is so smooth and looks great, especially coming from years on Alien Blue iPAD. Only major issue is the colours used on dark mode needs evaluating. The navy blue with grey text does not work well in low light conditions and makes it very frustrating. Just needs some more customisation options. Other than that, is an incredible app. Loving the app icon options..Version: 2.17.1

Definitely my favourite Reddit clientThis app is so useful and intuitive, and has a beautiful UI and UX. Much recommended!.Version: 1.2

Love it... But...Great reddit client. The only issue I have (and it's happened on every version of iOS I've used since finding Narwhal) is I'll be scrolling away, browsing, and posts suddenly disappeared and there's a big space where it was. Once it starts, it gets worse too. Flipping between the light and dark interfaces fixes it temporarily. This is on my 6s+.Version: 2.2

Best Reddit app by a mileAs someone who stuck with Narwhal 1 when Apollo was a thing, I can easily recommend Narwhal 2 to anyone who hates the official Reddit app and wants something infinitely more user friendly and customisable. There’s no other 3rd party app that has ever come close for me. Keep up the amazing work det0ur!.Version: 2.101

Best reddit app on iOSI’d give it 5 stars if it you could customise the UI like change the colour for example. Currently I find it very unattractive making it look like an old app from windows 1998 style..Version: 2.12

Gify IssuesI’ve been using Narwhal ever since Alien Blue was no longer in service and I love this app so much I paid for the premium features. However, after this last update any posts with A gif or gifycat or gify as the host for the link are unplayable. They just appear blank and I can’t seem to get it to work no matter how many times I restart my app, device and even my WiFi and phone service. Since half of reddit is just gifs it’s been a real inconvenience. I hope this bug gets fixed soon, I love this app and the developers are fantastic..Version: 2.17

Excellent app. Lots of great updates over Narwhal 1.Gotta balance out the stupid 1 star reviews - rate the app on its own merit, not because Reddit is forcing 3rd party devs to charge for usage. On that note, love the plethora of customization options available to make the Reddit experience your own … the app is fluid, smooth and easy to use. Devs have put a lot of hard work into making an app that is head and shoulders above the first party app… although the monthly fee is unfortunate, there is literally no way around it for the devs, and it is less than the $6/mo that Reddit charges for a much more mediocre experience through the first party app. Appreciate the work and glad that we are able to have an excellent alternative to the first party app..Version: 2.104

AMAZINGIncredible app, with so many great updates. Constant improvements over and over again, thank you!.Version: 2.1

Loved the rideThanks for making reddit on mobile possible for years now. I like the new, fresh look, but am hopping off. I don't want to give reddit a dime, and believe the subscription model is rarely worth it compared to a buy license once and it's yours forever. However, I would gladly pay for a single purchase app for another site that replaces reddit in the future after spez runs this thing into the ground. I kind of don't want to spend as much time on reddit anymore anyway. Had a much better browsing experience than I would have using something aside from Narwhal, thanks again..Version: 2.101

Best way to view RedditDev has done a brilliant job making Reddit viewing so much better than the official app. If you like No ads and customisation options then this is for you. Worth every penny and as the dev is being charged for API access this is the fairest way to get Reddit in a way that suits me..Version: 2.104

Fast and clean reddit readerHave been using narwhal for years. Clean, intuitive and fast UI. Overall one of my faveourite apps!.Version: 2.45

More aesthetically pleasing than Alien BlueLove the flat design and having pictures above thread comments. For five stars I would like to be able to increase the text size overall. Links within comments can also be very hard to press without inadvertently hiding the comment..Version: 1.1

Been using for yearsMy favourite Reddit app by far. Bought ad-free as soon as I saw the option and never looked back. The interface is so smooth and clean, and it keeps true to the traditional news and link-based Reddit. Which is especially nice now, considering the Reddit admin’s recent push for a more cluttered, personal-profile driven social network. Looking forward to Narwhal 2! Some suggestions I have I’m sure others have made: it would be lovely to be able to see non-gold awards on comments. User flairs could use some adjustment, as sometimes long flairs are cut off and unreadable, particularly in the comments. Thanks for all your hard work!.Version: 2.28

Absolutely the Best!Hands down, the best Reddit app I’ve ever used. I’m a long-time user and fan of Narwhal 1, and Narwhal 2 simply improves upon everything. The level of customizability is a dream come true, and the support and responsiveness of the developer is fantastic! Anyone who somehow thinks they prefer Narwhal 1 just needs to take a few minutes to look through the in-app Settings and tweak them to their liking. I’m so thankful that Narwhal 2 was released! The developer has done an incredible job!.Version: 2.101

So much customization!Coming from iAlien (which I was very happy with) was kinda weird. The menu bar being on the right than the left was hard to get used to also. BUT as time went on the app gained more traction and more customization options kept being added. Things like what happens to a video or post when force touching (for force touch compatible devices) or what icon you prefer to use. Dark and light mode with a single tap! No going through settings to change the mode when viewing at night or day. The font you read can be changed. Literally almost everything can be changed to your liking. You can even hide certain menu options that you find yourself never using at all. Hopefully one day they add an option to switch the menu tab from the right to left lol. Recently a new tab was added called recently viewed and my goodness I did not know how much I actually would use that tab. I always find posts I find interesting but forget to save it and wouldn’t be able to find it later. Now I just go to that tab and it’s there! It’s super useful..Version: 2.12

Best reddit app I’ve found.I’m not one to leave a review typically, but this app is my most used by far and it deserves praise. The most used functions of reddit such as browsing and sorting through posts and comments are nicely designed and intuitive to navigate on both my iPhone and iPad. Though there are a multitude of options in menus and sub menus that I personally found confusing at times, there is no doubt you can make the app as simple or complex as you’d like. Signing into my reddit account was easy and has me replying to comment threads or scrolling through my favorite subs in no time. The developers constantly make minor tweaks and subtle improvements that keep the app running smooth as silk. My only gripe is going through my comment history and not being able to pull up the original post from my comment alone, but rather I would have to select the OP’s profile and scroll through to the post to open it. A minor inconvenience that I don’t feel warrants a less than 5-star review from me. Overall, if you’re looking for a great reddit browser for your iPhone or iPad, look no further than Narwhal..Version: 2.30

Hands down the best reddit client in iOS!No reddit client is on par with Narwhal at the moment (even the official reddit app). The "what's new" description speaks for itself but I just have to recommend this to anyone who uses reddit on mobile. Flawless!.Version: 2.7

Might be back soonI understand the monthly subscription, it’s not ideal but this app has always been great and deserves to survive. Best Reddit app I’ve ever used and it just gets better every update. I unfortunately won’t be subscribing so I’ll have to use the Reddit app for a bit but when I’m more comfortable with the subscription cost, I’ll be back. Thank you Devs for your hard work. Everyone that can afford to, should subscribe for the great experience of using the best app made for Reddit, even if Reddit themselves are too blind to see that..Version: 2.105

The Best of a New Generation of Reddit AppsReddit’s decision a few months ago to make doing business as a third-party app developer for their platform more difficult definitely shook up the playing field; the loss of apps that we had all adopted and loved was a tough pill to swallow. Narwhal 2 represents a lot of hard work and determination, bringing back the best of what we lost and maybe something more. Fast, responsive, and feature-rich with a ton of customization options, Narwhal 2 can be Reddit however you want to experience it. Recreate what you liked in a previous app or make it your own; it’s amazing what you can tweak in this app. Well worth a subscription, Narwhal 2 is a worthy successor to any of the previous generation of Reddit apps that gave up the ghost..Version: 2.102

Always improving.Gets updated quite frequently. New video features are great, just needs more controls..Version: 2.7

Really great! But...The app is awesome, but one thing i don't like is that if you leave the app and then go back on it refreshes pretty often bringing you back to the top, this may be out of control for the makers though and thats understandable. One thing id really love to see and i think a lot of people would enjoy too is a folder setting for anything you save, for ex: if i want to save a song from a music sub id like to be able to create a folder specifically for music so i don't have to scroll through all the random crap i save. I hope you guys take requests like that, i know it would make my narwhal experience 100x better :D.Version: 2.12

Wonderful, a must have.I started on reddit five or six years ago after my soon to be wife got me started. I’ve since moved from desktop browsing to constant browsing on mobile and narwhal is a vast improvement over the mobile site with customization options I couldn’t live without. It’s highly stable and I’ve never crashed or even seen a bug with the app. GIF browsing is fast and the slide to upvote, downvote, and hide post make things so simple and streamlined. 10/10 would use again..Version: 2.14

The best Reddit app out thereDon’t listen to any haters. If you want THE BEST Reddit app available with a great community and dev behind it, this is the app for you. Yes there is now a subscription fee, but this is 100% reddits fault for charging devs to use their API. The dev has to charge for the app, because Reddit is charging him for the API calls. The $3.99 per month was vetted with all the beta testers only after trying a bunch of other options first. This was the best compromise at the end of the day. Try it out and be amazed how much better it is compared to the official Reddit app..Version: 2.104

Much better than official appEasy to use, good feature set, no stupid “promotion” or “trending” harassment like the official app. Paid-for ad removal is a reasonable price. Great work devs..Version: 2.22

New to RedditMy boyfriend had the app “Reddit is fun” which isn’t available in the App Store, this app is very similar to it. Better than the official Reddit app and easier to use. Like how the feed is everything I’m subscribed to and it’s laid out nice..Version: 2.37

Redesign a triumphThe redesign retains the simplicity of the original whilst enhancing it in an unobtrusive way. Those annoyed at the subscription model should be venting their anger at Reddit, not the Narwhal devs..Version: 2.104

Outstanding app and wonderfully responsive devAfter Reddit had their debacle this summer, Narwhal is one of the only apps that managed to find a proper path to legally continuing third party Reddit support, and Narwhal 2 takes a great app and improves on it in almost every way. Great design, lots of customization, responsive and works great. Yea, there is a subscription, as it’s the only way for the app to work with Reddit now, as they are charging the developer for every API call. The subscription model was done in a way that allows affordable access while allowing the developer to make ends meet. The dev is also very responsive and active on Reddit, incorporating fixes and new features after speaking with users. Great app..Version: 2.104

Best App for Browsing RedditThis app is just so much better than any other reddit client I’ve tried. This is the app I’ve recommended to my friends who are getting into reddit. The swipe gestures make the experience easier than using reddit from my desktop, it also encourages me to interact with posts more. The level of customisation is absurdly good. It even lets you choose the icon for the app (never seen that before). Great job guys keep it up :).Version: 2.17.1

This is so much better than Reddit default and narwhal 1Yep, go see for yourself.Version: 2.101

Great app, and I owe the developer an apologyMy original 2-star rating was based on a feature that I couldn’t find. I thought it has been removed, but the reality was that it was there all along and my dumb self just couldn’t find it. There are few worse feelings than blaming someone else for YOUR mistake, which is exactly what I’ve done here. Fact is, this is a feature rich app with highly customizable settings (something the native Reddit app lacks). The guy is performing the Herculean task of providing a high quality app for one of the world’s most popular social media sites, pretty much by himself. I respect that work ethic and love using the app..Version: 2.103

Far better than official Reddit appI would love it if the dev could add ‘search comments’ functionality. Still worth 5 stars anyway. One of those apps that I’m happy to pay for the ad free version!.Version: 2.38

Best Reddit App Next to Apollo (RIP)Yes, this app has now gone to a subscription model. But at only $4, I think it’s worth it. I’m not HAPPY that it’s gone to subscription, but honestly , I get it. What Reddit is doing to the third party app devs is pretty scummy. These devs like this app’s needs revenue to “keep the lights on” so to say. I hope to see the day where we can go back to Reddit apps being free, but, if there’s any Reddit app that is worth your money, this is it. It’s the next best thing to Apollo. The UI is sleek and navigating the app and Reddit is very fluid and looks great. To the devs, please keep putting love into this app. It’s a gem for Reddit mobile as of now. I’m also glad you guys chose to do a flat $4 fee and get unlimited API usage instead of the tiers. I feel like if you’re gonna charge people for the app, this is the best way for it..Version: 2.104

The Reddit Reddit forgot.I’ve been a devout AMRC/Antenna user for as long as I can remember, because it worked like Reddit did. But the developer has moved onto other things, and it’s finally breaking, so here I am. Narwhal may not work exactly like Antenna, but it shares the same spirit, a faithful, pre-official app, Reddit client. I don’t need shiny features, I just want an app that shows me Reddit, and nowadays, that’s Narwhal. (I’d pay a subscription to keep this app alive, by the way, I don’t want this one to become like Antenna).Version: 2.37

Best reddit app available. This app gets better with every release. It's well designed, well planned, and very well executed..Version: 2.1

Random music for 2 seconds? What the hell is going on with this random music playing. My phone is even on silent mode and it pops up..Version: 2.28

My favourite reddit appIt’s simple, has a clean interface which makes titles and comments easy to read, and the the gestures are intuitive. I just tried out Apollo briefly and it felt like a cluttered mess compared to narwhal..Version: 2.16.1

Awesome appThis is my favourite app for reddit by far. Now we have auto play gifs the next feature I’d like is to be able to swipe through albums without having to leave the front page..Version: 2.14

The best! After trying so many reddit clients, I've decided that this one is the best. Great UX and design. Real easy to browse links and comments at the same time. I love it..Version: 2.7

These 1 star review people are CRAZYThis is one of the last standing third party Reddit apps and the 2.0 update is a night and day upgrade over the original Narwhal. The people trashing this and leaving 1 star reviews are crazy to me, makes me think they aren’t intelligent enough to open up the app settings and tweak it to exactly how you want it. There is SO much customization when it comes to the UI, I honestly can’t even think of another app with this much. Coming from a long time user of Apollo, I was able to get Narwhal to look almost exactly the same and with the new swipe options, I got it feeling the same as well. Do not listen to these 1 star reviews, download this app and check out the settings to see all you can do. Props to the developer, who, by the way is just 1 person doing all the work..Version: 2.101

Great apps that works wonderfully. What else is there to say?.Version: 2.10

Best reddit appFound this after alien blue was shutdown. I've tried most of the reddit apps on here and this one is by far the best. Love the swipe to vote / save etc..Version: 2.8

Awesome ClientI was a long time AlienBlue user until the stopped supporting it, and the official reddit app never rung my bells. I tried a couple of others before I found Narwhal, and it’s the best one yet! So easy to use, the only thing it doesn’t have (yet, please say yet developers!) is the ability to gild/award posts & comments from the app. Please give it this functionality!.Version: 2.32

Better experience all roundVery happy with the sea unicorn now. Much smoother, fewer interjections, night mode, subtlety. All the things missing from the official app or through the browser are here. Worth paying for..Version: 2.11.1

My new favourite Reddit appOnce I started using the gestures and features of Narwhal (not to mention the aesthetics of it) I just couldn’t go back to anything else..Version: 2.32

Amazing AppI genuinely appreciate everything that the dev is doing to bring us this amazing app. Yes unfortunately there’s a subscription fee now, but I absolutely think it’s 100% worth it. Narwhal is so customizable and really lets you have exactly the app you want. The dev genuinely listens to suggestions and you can see his passion to create the best app possible. Definitely recommend this app to anyone who’s tired of the official trash Reddit app and/or refugees from any other 3rd party app that was shut down. I promise it’s worth it!.Version: 2.104

Seriously has all the good settingsThis app has so much settings for you to customise and change that youll think that this is truly the best reddit app by far. From excluding subreddits with hold to simple swipes to hide or save posts. They really outdid themselves.Version: 2.12

Best Reddit client I've used! The only feature that it's missing is the dropdown to next comment arrow, like the official Reddit app has. Otherwise, it's the best Reddit client out there (that I've used).Version: 2.3.1

Better than Alien BlueI've been using Narwhal for years and the UI is much cleaner and more intuitive than Alien Blue. It's my preferred Reddit client on all of my iOS devices..Version: 2.5

So much better than the official app!I’ll admit that it took me a while to try out Reddit Is Fun. I stubbornly clung to the official reddit app, excusing the poor loading times, frozen videos, and constant loss of connection on my service provider. After switching apps, I’m happy to say that all of those problems “mysteriously” disappeared. I’m not usually the sort to rate an app, let alone leave a review, but I just have to say it. If you’re frustrated with Reddit’s official app or their mobile site - use Reddit is Fun instead. You won’t regret it..Version: 2.17.2

No Reddit without NarwhalI’ve been using Narwhal for years to browse Reddit. Thanks to Reddit API changes, soon I will not be able to use Narwhal. The Reddit app is (Long string of expletives deleted). Any goodwill is gone, unless there’s a 180 turnaround. I’m not holding my breath. Anyway, thanks Narwhal, you were fantastic. Good luck in future pursuits..Version: 2.48

Excellent all-aroundProper oldschool client for Reddit, with all the features one could ask for. The only nitpick is that the integration with some gif-streaming websites is a bit of a hit and miss, but it’s hard to say whose fault it is. Also I think the most unwieldy threads with thousands of threads can get cut-short occasionally, but realistically you’ll never care. Still miles better than the official crap..Version: 2.34

App ruined my adsI've been using narwhal as a replacement for Reddit is fun when I switched to iPhone a few years back. It's a great Reddit browser for iOS. The ads are so abysmally bad now that every time I get a poker banner ad while reading comments it pops out with the media player..Version: 2.41

Perfect for this Apollo refugeeI was a long time Apollo for Reddit user until it shut down following Reddit’s API policy changes. I’ve tried to use the official Reddit app but the ads and layout are downright aggravating. After months of sideloading Apollo weekly I discovered Narwhal 2 and I am amazed. The amount of customization is shocking. The app is quick and smooth. The native browser and media player are perfect, and it even includes an adblocker. The only feature missing is flair images. This is the best Reddit experience. Well worth a cheap subscription. Great work.Version: 2.112

By far the best reddit client out thereThe mix of comments and link is an absolute game changer. I'll never go back to anything less..Version: 1.9

Bug on XS Max 12.0.1My favourite reddit client but... Occasionally in photo posts, with the comment chain visible, you cannot leave the post and return to the subreddit. The return arrow disappears and even trying to enter the profile of a user that commented doesn’t work. Only way out is to force close the app. Please address this in the next update..Version: 2.16.1

An excellent app from a dedicated developerI downloaded Narwhal in April of 2016, and I dont think I have gone more than a week without using it since then. The developer is a one man shop who has worked very hard to overcome some of Reddit’s recent decisions so he can continue to offer this app that I and many others rely on. Reddit has forced all 3rd party apps to pay for their API usage. If a subscription is not an option for you, you can use the official reddit app or a web browser. Personally, I would rather not do either of those things, since I find the interface and constant ads very annoying. I can afford to pay the subscription and a bit more to support this developer. I understand not everyone is able to do that, but please, if that is the case, direct your anger toward the bone-headed exectives at reddit, not this developer, who has no control over the situation. Det0ur, I hope for your mental health you are staying out of the reviews, but if you do read this, I want to thank you for all you have done to bring us this excellent app. Do not be discouraged by the hate, know that you are appreciated..Version: 2.104

Still my favorite Reddit clientI’ve tried several Reddit clients. Yes, even the one that was huge in 2017. And yet this is the client I come back to. This client has everything some of the other clients offer for money—logins for multiple accounts, dark mode, icons, and more. And what I really like about this client is I can preview a webpage in Narwhal’s browser while looking at a Reddit thread at the same time. I haven’t seen a feature like it in other Reddit clients or even the official app. This client is totally worth paying the developers to only remove ads..Version: 2.13.1

Excellent reddit appGreat app for browsing reddit. Includes ability to upvote, save, comment, share, etc. everything you would expect Fun mascot / loading image too. Overall an excellent experience..Version: 1.1

The Best of the BestNo other Reddit app is as fully featured as Narwhal. It runs as smooth as butter while the UI remains intuitive and uncluttered. The new customisation options for themes and the UI included in version 2 is the icing on the cake. Can’t recommend this app enough. Far, far better than the default Reddit app..Version: 2.101

Amazing integration with iOS.Love what you've done with the app, feels very intuitive and smooth on the iPhone..Version: 2.7

A few bugs but ok so farLooks like an alien blue that works and had more features, gets a bit baffled with text position typing a reply in landscape with SwiftKey for some reason, like you are going under the keyboard can be tricky to post a link after text sometimes and missing the ability to upload video I think..Version: 2.17.1

Decent App, but Not for MeAfter two weeks of use, here are my impressions off the app: It’s a good alternative to Reddit’s native app. + You can search directly for a user or subreddit, + you can upvote/downvote posts/comments with swipes (as well as reply, save, and more), + and many other functions more than the Reddit app. + It even has a neat little tutorial for basic use at the top of the screen! However, I have several issues with the app: - Following a user seems vague (the “+Friend” is unclear to me), - You can upvote/download posts & comments older than 6 months (which Reddit doesn’t allow), making me doubt if my votes are actually registering in the site. • I know I can probably verify by accessing the post/comment from a browser, etc., but I don’t really wanna do that. - The auto-preview is all-or-nothing, which will show photos & videos and direct you to websites upon clicking the post, or leave the post blank when clicking it. I haven’t figured out how to use it to my liking, so maybe it’s just a setting I missed or uninstalling-then-reinstalling the app. - Clicking the source link (e.g. photos/videos from Imgur) does not take you to it. My fingers might be too fat to choose it, or I’m doing it wrong. 🤷‍♂️ These aren’t objectively negative issues, just my opinion on what doesn’t work for me. It offers a different user-experience than other Reddit clients, which others will enjoy more than me. Keep up the good work folks!.Version: 2.41
