✓ Used to be FunThis used to be such a fun game! Unfortunately, now they make challenges so short and so hard it is impossible to win which takes all the fun out of the game. They have also cut back energy so you can’t even watch ads more often than every 10 minutes for more energy. It feels like they don’t even want you to play anymore. ETA: I’m specifically talking about the challenges, where you have 6 days and have to win multiple levels to get one dice or bat that moves you one space. Or having to win 11 levels or 7 levels on a first try in one day in order to get the points necessary to move ahead in the challenge. That isn’t attainable, realistic, or fun. ETA 2: I don’t care about “progressing in the game”. I care about being able to win the challenges I start. Please listen. 🫠.Version: 12.2.4
✓ Sooo many pop upsI have played this game for years and have spent so much money lol, but the pop ups are not just extremely annoying, as many other reviewers have said but you don’t seem to listen, but they have made me lose out on things I’ve purchased. So many times I’ve bought the mega boost but when I finish a level and try to move on to the next in a hurry, I have to go through so many pop ups that I lose that time on the mega boost. I’ve been ready to move onto the next level and still have mega boost time left but when I’m done going through the pop ups, the mega boost times out. To me, you’re stealing my money when this happens. Almost all of the negative reviews are about your pop ups so come on, make an option to opt in and out of what you want to see before you lose more players. I’ve seen your replies that you don’t want players to miss out on “all the great deals” so this is why there’s so many pop ups, but you don’t need to tell us about them after every. single. level..Version: 12.0.3

✓ Fun but greedyI’ve had a good time with this game for a while, but am erasing it because it is greedy and aggressive in its monetization strategy. I understand needing to make money. I would love to support its development, but at the level of a few dollars, not $30-50/mo (what I have calculated it would take to make meaningful progress in the game). While it is possible to progress in the game without making a purchase, it is slow and frustrating. The number of times I have gotten to the end of a level and am one move away from winning, is countless. I have taken multiple screenshots as examples but unfortunately can’t post them for you to see. In short, the new fruits and the power-ups both appear to generated/placed by a rigged algorithm which lets you win sometimes, but forces you to lose most of the time. It ultimately uses gambling-like dopamine manipulation to push significant in game spending (gold, etc), and real money spending. This is in addition to the video ads they offer to get “free” resources, which do not contribute much to game progress. Much appreciated but no longer fun..Version: 9.5.2

✓ Game good but forced to watch 25 seconds adsI like the game, tests you around the level 130 mark .. BUT . Constant ads, multiple clicks just to move on or reload a failed stage. I got to levels around 130 and on a hard puzzle, I was forced to watch 25 second ads about some re-decorating app after every attempt at the difficult level. ✓ FiendI was enjoying the game until I realised that I was being blocked at every stage so that I would spend money to buy get around for the blocks that you were inserting. Two or three levels of blocks to star with then more each time I think I am going to win a level. I thought this was a relaxing game and I find that if I buy you ‘fixes’ every time I fail I might beat the game but it’s more likely that I would just be more in debt. I haven’t been buying any of you fixes and I spend hours trying to solve each level before I finally ‘succeed’ but probably only because you take mercy on me. I will soon stop playing this game because it is fixed in your favour all along the way I am past Level 100 which I think is a great result so tonight or tomorrow I will delete the game and find something else to do for relaxation. ✓ Gold RewardsGreat game but wish it gave gold rewards when updating or on the wheel, it’s highly addictive but don’t let yourself buy gold to finish it’s not worth it. ✓ Great game but underhanded adsI like the game play dynamics and the challenge is great. Lots of things always going on to keep it fresh and inviting. My biggest complaint is with the ads and especially that it now automatically takes you to the App Store without pressing a button when you elect to view an ad. I thought it was my mistake but it will sometimes take you to the App Store to check out the game or app you just watched and other times pops up an image that looks like the App Store. It has done it every 2-3 times I view an ad so it isn’t a rare fluke but appears intentional. It’s already annoying that between nearly every round you have to exit out of the pop up pay to play ad they place but to have the ads you watch exit the program and take you to the App Store is very frustrating and shouldn’t be allowed. They also make the adds where it can be hard to touch the x to close it so that it thinks you are clicking the ad to go to the App Store too. So they get you to the App Store many different ways much of them underhanded so that they can make their commissions on the “click through” to the App Store page they get paid on. ✓ Don’t be a fool!Ok, so the review title doesn’t reflect 100% of my opinions of the game. It is actually horribly addictive, and a lot of fun - when your winning. However, the deeper you get into the game, the more it becomes obvious that it’s fallen into the micro transaction pit of no return, and it is blatantly obvious that the game is designed in such a way that it becomes Pay to Win incredibly quickly. And if you don’t pay to win? Sure, you can proceed, but you will be stuck at certain levels for what feels like an eternity. The minute you buy gold? Boom, level completed. ✓ Addictive game but..Please when mega boost is running, you should not get any interruptions at all from other mission objectives and milestones in other events, as this takes up your precious mega boost time. I just spent real money on a offer that gave me 15 mins of mega boost. 5 mins of that was spent on constantly tapping the screen getting rid of other mission objectives I have completed, especially the current dice board game running. Joke ! Please disable all other things while you have mega boost. ✓ Decent game but dirty tacticsI’ve enjoyed this game for the most part. Over time it’s become abundantly clear that there is some programming in the game that prevents you from winning at certain times. Once you get past level 1,000 it’ll take dozens of tries on a level to beat it. Then out of nowhere everything will line up perfectly and you’ll breeze through. This isn’t just random because each new level will then again take hours to beat and then magically you’ll get it to all line up perfectly. I get the app has to make money but you kind of feel cheated because you realize that there is no possible way to beat that level other than playing it over and over until you get the “easier” layout. It is a fun game and definitely worth playing for a bit but I am frustrated that it’s not skill or strategy that gets you past levels in this game, it’s money and time. I have a also noticed on many, many occasions that you will be extremely close to beating the level with 5+ moves left. All of a sudden the board goes dry. There are no colors or matches you need. Then you use your last turn and all of a sudden that play you were trying to attain for several turns magically shows up but now you have to pay 10 gold to continue. This isn’t random. It happens too frequently to be random. I think the game is programmed to do this and it’s sad that they use this to try to trick people into spending more money..Version: 7.6.2
✓ Designed to be deceptive and waste your timeThis game is totally rigged. Of course in the beginning, to get you hooked it lets you win all the easy levels, but as the levels increase, it purposefully makes you lose consistently. Then after several attempts, you suddenly win only to go back into the same cycle of loosing. There is no logic to how you win or lose. Even with strategy, the game will screw with your setups so you lose. I can tell just by looking at the layout of a level whether it’s going to let me win or not because the layout never looks the same even though it’s the same level. And my predictions are right every time. For instance, whenever I lose, the setup of charms are so scattered that it’s nearly impossible to create chains for a higher hit and I think to myself I’m never going to pass. But then after losing several times, the layout will suddenly not be scattered and have a bunch of charms already set up for a big blow making it super easy to win all of a sudden. That makes this game very questionable. This is not random, It’s definitely a pattern. It is as if the outcome is predetermined before I even start playing. I will continue to play this game to pass the time but the novelty has definitely wore of real quick with this realization and eventually I will delete..Version: 5.3.0

✓ Nickel and Dime SimulatorThis game is meant to nickel and dime you slowly. Just like any other predatory free to play game, it’s just not free. This game relies heavily on RNG (Random Numbers Generator) in later stages. “Difficulty” is simulated by the board providing you with poor matches. You won’t notice this in the first 100 or so levels, but the “difficulty” ramps up decently every 100 levels. I’m half way through the 400’s and it’s to the point where every other level is extremely “difficult.” This difficulty is just simulated by RNG and luck. Keep in mind, I’m not giving in to buying more moves because I find this mechanic extremely predatory and “pay to win,” literally. If you want to spend the money to keep buying moves, you can and the game won’t stop you. I’ve probably spent around $20-$30 on this game and I’m just done. It’s money grubbing and not worth the money I’ve spent. It’s not rewarding in any sense. Note to the Devs: I’ve seen support try to convince players that every level has been tested and can be passed with the number of moves given. This is only true when RNG is on the player’s side which is way less often in later stages. I find this statement by the devs untruthful and this claim should never be made in a game that uses the same logic a slot machine does..Version: 7.3.2
✓ Fun game to play but...It is a fun game to pass time. I’ve played it since it came out. But since that time the developers have moved buttons that didn’t require you to spend gold bars or buy things to buttons that do. You have to be mindful on each update. The epic critters are now $30 each? Meaning parents could drop $150 on an app???!? Sorry but that’s a hard no. I can go buy a couple of Xbox/PS games for that price AND take them to GameStop and get some money back. You can’t do that with apps. If you can’t use gold bars to get anything decent, there’s no point in collecting them during the game or buying them. Even the 2020 Black Friday “sale” wasn’t worth it - you had to buy one just to see what the other two offers were, and they really weren’t anything different than the offers that are done daily. I’d like to see if they are even looking at analytics to see if anyone is even finishing the monthly challenges 100% cause unless you play this game 8 hours every day, you’re not going to get them. I think there’s also a clear miss the developer should incorporate: It would be neat if they had an “info” card about the types of bugs & animals in the game so kids could see “oh this is what a axolotl or a Hercules beetle really looks like”. ✓ Games that last days…On the most recent series i just want to say that them telling you you have 5 more days left to that series, after noting they keep changing the amount of days before 24 hours has passed! This is not legal and very unfair! Also if they are tanking us by wins,and you are not using paid for aids, your ranking is ALWAYS going to be lower. They charge tax on each purchase take days to place them on your bill and never group them if you made the purchase on the same day. I now play without aids and find that winning is just a matter of luck, the way they set up the board and eventually you will win it just takes playing until they provide a winnable board! I like the challenge but dislike the dishonesty, if your giving us 14 days to win a series, make the days 24 hours. Mine went from 8 days to 5 in two legal 24 hour time increments, it was very obvious it was being played with and for someone who plays at the same tome each day, it was startling to become aware of it!! The developers are CHEATS on something so little as giving you a certain amount of time to finish and then they adjust it! There is no time of day on the game, so my taking a photo is useless, it hides your time, on the phone, so again useless. ✓ Ice cream race event is terrible.I’ve been playing so long I’ve actually completed all of the regular and hero levels. The new event is ridiculous, if you have to roll a 3 to land on a space to win a reward, and say you roll 2 die at once and get a 3 and a 5, it will use the 5 first before the 3 so you don’t land on the reward. Not to mention how LONG it takes to even get enough clovers to get a dice. Most other events when you finish a level it will clear out any remaining bombs on the board and give you the collectibles needed for the current events. This one relies on you defeating slugs which is awful if one of your level requirements is to defeat like 5 slugs, once you defeat your 5 no more appear. The “first try win” for the stars for purple dice doesn’t work. I am currently on a win streak of 40 levels (only because my app crashed mid level and ruined the longer one) but I’ve literally gotten 1 purple dice. I just finished using a mega boost where I finished 17 levels and didn’t get a purple dice even though every single one was a first try win. My one purple dice I got rolled a 2 and I didn’t even get a single reward. What a waste of time..Version: 9.5.2

✓ The whole game is a trick to keep you playing...After playing this game for a while, it is clear that the programming does not allow you to win until you’ve either played the level many times or if you haven’t played the game in a while. After you win, it will let you win a few more levels before becoming impossible to beat again. You’re at the mercy of what the game allows, there is no true “strategy” to win other than to work with what you’re given and hope the game gives you what you need. It has nothing to do with how “hard” the levels are. Plus, it used to save your game whenever you closed the app which was appealing for people who just want to play when they have a short break from something instead of spending hours on their phone playing a game. Now, it will make you start over if a day or so has passed since you last played. Please stop advertising this game as a “puzzle” when puzzles should always have a possible winning outcome. At first, it’s a clever puzzle game that pulls you right in, with great presentation and adorable characters... but after a lot of levels it feels more and more like a casino, packed with nagging pop-ups and “special offers” that aim to drain your wallet. Some Fiends are locked behind an immense paywall, and there is a clear effort to shame players into spending money or watching ads by labelling the No buttons as “give up” and “miss out”. The game itself is fun, but the relentless greed is almost impossible to ignore. This is a very addictive game, but the addiction becomes increasingly unhealthy over time. ✓ DisappointedI hadn’t downloaded a game for a long time but my favourite podcast kept advertising this one, so I thought I would give it a go. It was a fun game and I was enjoying it. ✓ Best FiendsI was at a 5 star! BUT, hold on to your money, I got up in the 400 level and this game is rigged just like slot machines! I on a particular area and I need green and blue like let’s 80 each. I was able to get the green with no problem. Oh, also you have to knock off 5 different times a character chosen by the game. So you can get that down as well but you have think things through. Anyhow, to continue on if you are not able to accomplish this task in let’s say 20 moves. If you can’t, you can receive 5 more moves for 10 gold. You can’t get gold unless you purchase it. And you better purchase, real money by the way, gold before you actually run out, otherwise you can get 20 gold and some other stuff for 4.99 or buy 150 gold for 9.99. Do the math, what would you do. Ok, in order to beat this one level, I had to use my gold 10 times which is a 100 gold. WHY? I could not get any blue items! If you did get some they would give you one or two at a time! You have to have three in any combo: horizontal, vertical, diagonal. So that means it took 50 moves to get 15 blue color items. This happens all the time! ✓ Strategic Money GrabSure, it’s “free to play”. At first, you have fun playing the levels, and you’ll get to the point where you feel like your skill is really being tested as a casual player. Before you know it, you’re time-locked from playing levels unless you’re spending money—and the developers have set it up so that if you’re on a winning streak you’re much more enticed to spend MORE money to not lose your free benefits from actually doing well. I’ve spent $40 on this game and yet somehow I’m stuck on an “easy” level in the 800s despite feeling like I’m pretty good at playing it when I haven’t spent money. The levels are spaced out so that if you don’t pay any money you’ll be frustrated by getting “stuck” playing the same level 30 times (they’ll throw in 2 minutes of “premium boost” every once in awhile to show you that if you just spend $4 for 3 minutes then these next few INSANELY hard levels could be SoOoOOo easy!) and if you do spend money on small boosts and their “deals” you’ll be downright furious because you’ll get strategically hit with a hard level after your boosts have run out. ✓ The covert changes are too much of a cash grabKing changed its in game shop recently to reorder and reprice its offerings, without disclosing that they were doing this. I’ve noticed this practice in other games they publish but this particular change is so extreme it’s hit the pain point. Looks like the price has close to doubled on some items. I was a fairly regular customer at previous (still not cheap) prices but this is off the charts and I’m gone. They won’t ever tell you that they’ve changed or what they’ve changed, perhaps in an attempt to see what revisions give them the highest revenues. For example, someone just had the bright idea of reversing listed prices so the most expensive item is now listed on the top and the cheapest on the bottom, when it was previously listed cheapest to most expensive, and I very much doubt they would ever refund you if you just clicked the old spot in error. Also they added to some of the items a few hours of what they call VIP time which essentially just removes ads, forcing you to buy this to get the same level of currency at what looks to be double the price. The tired argument they will make is that it’s marketing and they are not making you buy it. True, but that only gets them so far. ✓ Not happyThis game I downloaded only a few days ago. Was going great until it had kept crashing through a level. I then lose all my streaks. I’ve done what I said and turned my phone off and on to re boot to only lose so many levels I completed and also 2 of the challengers completed started again or gone backwards. Not happy at all. ✓ Money makingThough this game starts off helpful and addictive it soon becomes a money purchase game. All it ever is a hard level, boss level or an very hard level where you either have to use a power up or gold to try and beat the level. There are never simple levels that are actually enjoyable or simple to try and win. The additional tools you get to help you in a level are helpful only on the first ever level they are introduced and then all of a sudden they are there to frustrate and annoy you. Never really helping you in completing a level and just programmed to do the exact opposite of what they should be doing or what may be helpful for you to win and complete the level. I’ve stopped buying any gold and hardly play it anymore due to the programmers obsession with just ripping you off by trying to use power ups or gold to complete. ✓ Highly addictive and then Highly frustratingWhen I began playing this game I was hooked. It was the most addictive game. And just when I would get frustrated with a level, they would add a move until I was able to complete it. But a few weeks ago, the moves stopped being added. The level would be impossible to complete. And even though there would be messages that they were adding a level, the levels were never added. I wrote in to the developers thinking it was a bug. After a few messages back and forth, they appeared to fix the issue. They were even kind enough to give me some bonuses. But after a few levels, the same issue has happened. Only this time it’s even worse. Not only are they not adding moves but they’re taking them away. I had 28 moves when I got a message that they were adding a level. Not only was that not added but I then had 27 moves. I’m at level 2218 and have never paid for anything in the app. So I’m wondering if it’s their way to force me into a purchase. ✓ Would’ve been higher if it weren’t for the progressionI do enjoy this game, but like… dear god is the difficulty scaling all over the place. I understand some levels should be a challenge, but there’s a difference between challenging and “bashing your head against the wall until you get really lucky with RNG because that’s the Only way you can beat this level” Some of the “hard” levels are pushovers, but a lot of the levels not marked hard can take an hour to get past because all you can do is do it Over and Over and Over Again until the game decides it’ll let you through. There’s no “hey you’re struggling a lot here’s a boost!” stuff, you gotta either suffer it through or, yknow, spend money. It seems like the end of each area gets clunkier and clunkier with its difficulty and it just gets really discouraging to be constantly losing your extra moves because someone thought making a diagonal half-board with a kill And crate objective would be “fun”. ✓ Fun game, but off puttingThe game itself is nothing new essentially a clone of 'same game' but is a fun interpretation. However it's the constant begging for money through constant pop ups are putting me off this game. Want to open the game? 3-4 pop ups begging for money. Want to start a level? There's a pop up for that. I also noticed the game seems to be a bit rigged. Statistically when you're working with a few colours only, they should show up occasionally. Except they don't at just the right frequency where you can't quite complete the level. But hey you get another pop up asking for money to buy bricks to continue for your efforts. ✓ DisappointingI’ve been playing this game for 4 years now, as with most games it started off well, but now sadly it is going the same way as candy crush. They make you play the side challenges collecting dice or feathers or compasses, for virtually no reward, if you do manage to collect the required amount, retrieving your prize is hard when they say you’re “offline” (which I wasn’t), so not able to collect said prize. ✓ This is a temp download type appThis is a freemium app that tries to slowly push you toward paying for things and has a lot of pay pop ups and videos. I just started playing and it says you have to get to level 150 to do quest or something? It seems easy at first to upgrade your fiends but they take a lot of mites to upgrade and evolve if youre going to be casually playing. It seems like only the bomb critters are worthwhile so far. Also the critters arent at random at least lvl 1-34 they appear when you need them. You might get random ones but you will get 4 by then or you can not progress. This event you have to do 30? To get the end prize? And there are breaks in between. So Im not going to even attempt getting them. The extra outfits are cute but 50 gold bars each I think. You start off with 29. 🤷🏽♀️ I dont buy extra moves its a waste of gold bars. So is buying keys. They seem to give them out plenty. Its a decent game that once I cant progress enough without. ✓ Challenging game in all the wrong waysI played this game for years, but stopped after the levels started getting too hard to beat without making purchases. But during the pandemic I started up again, and found it to be an addicting game once again. But over the last few months I’ve become more frustrated with the game than enjoying it. They are constantly popping up packages for me to buy, and often I have to click through seven or eight pop-up screens before I can finally start playing a level. And I can’t count the number of times I’ve been just one move away from beating a level, but yet run out of moves so I have to start all over again. It also has issues when it isn’t constantly connected to Wi-Fi. Being in New York and mostly playing on the subways, I’m in and out of coverage. The game doesn’t like this and has issues with saving my progress. I’ve lost gold and other extras and had to repeat levels I’ve already been, and if I close my phone in the middle of a game because I need to do something else, there’s a 50-50 chance that the game will just restart when I open it up again, losing any win streak I’ve built up. To make it all worse their customer service is not that great and quite repetitive when it comes to fixing issues I presented to them, they just keep sending me the same things to try that aren’t really related to my issue. ✓ Too many events—feels like a choreI don't know what it is with games these days, but the never-ending events have got to go. They end up making playing feel like a chore, and like I don't have much say in how I play the game, since pretty much everything I do revolves around completing tasks. I hoard keys, I don't level up fiends unless asked, I don't play lootballoon levels unless asked, I don't try for harder earthworm levels, I only play the fiends' quests when asked, etc. It's exhausting and demotivating. I spend most of a month frantically trying to finish all of the tasks (which now are thirty lists of three tasks each, instead of, like, ten lists of three tasks each). Then I get two days where I don't have to look at it, rinse and repeat. I'm starting to lose motivation. I really, really like the mechanics of the game and the different daily events and special levels, but I just don't feel like I get to enjoy them. A few events a year should be plenty, and keep them feeling special. But twelve events in twelve months (for a total of 24 prizes) is excessive. I don't feel like I can play the events casually; either I'm going to try to get the prizes, or I'm just not going to play. I have deleted plenty of games before for this, because they just stop being fun. I'm nearing that point with best fiends. My heart just sinks every time a new event starts, and that's just not how I want to feel when I open a game I like. The game would be five stars if not for that..Version: 7.8.1
✓ A set upI’ve played more than 2600 levels. After that many it becomes abundantly clear that the game is programmed so you can’t win without trying each level 25+ times. You’ll finish many with just one move needed and you’ll never get the thing you need to get it. Further, if you watch the way the stuff drops, you’ll notice that the tile you needed and planned to drop, magically hovers while other tiles drop around or through it. I’ve gotten good at knowing within my first three moves if I’m going to beat the level or not. Sometimes you’ll have levels to beat that take ten more moves than you start with, other times you’ll win some minutes of a very special booster, only to have pops up appear nonstop that eat up that time so when you actually get to play you have about half the time remaining to use the special boost. You can play this game for free, but expect to spend a long time on almost every level, even if it’s not a hard level. Diminishing returns as you level up have made this game exhausting and sucked the fun right out of it. Before you waste your time down this path, don’t say you weren’t warned..Version: 11.4.0
