Good app but can’t do much for freeWithout paying you can’t really do anything!.Version: 5.77.0

Being told I’m being charged the annual fee anyway!I don’t even have this app on my phone and it’s not coming up in my subscriptions and I got an email saying that I will automatically be charged the annual fee on the 29/7 as my free trial is about to end. Might I add again I don’t even have this app on my phone! And it’s not coming up on subscriptions for me to even cancel it! I cannot afford for this app to be doing this and stressing me out like this. I have emailed and tried googling this, tried redownloading the app to see if I can find the issue and no luck. If I am charged the annual fee anyway I will be extremely upset..Version: 5.64.0

Very US-centric, and simple and repetitiveA lot of the skills tested aren’t really relevant outside of the US. For example, converting ounces or yards, calculating tips, and mixing up pronunciations of phrases that only sound the same in an American accent. Some of the skills tested are very useful, like trying to remember people’s names, or synonyms for words. A lot of the games end up feeling very formulaic though, like the one correcting sentences that have clearly been generated to be more complicated than they need to by just substituting a phrase for a word that you would never say. And the mathematics games were a bit disappointing and didn’t become more challenging over time, for example the only games I found about multiplication were one with fractions that kept asking me to triple a whole number like 2, and one involving budgeting where you only multiplied numbers by parts of a year like 12 and 52. Overall it was fun for a week but very expensive and I don’t see how it would stay fresh and challenging in the long term..Version: 5.68.0

ElevateI entered the skills I wanted to develop, and the only sampling the app allowed me to access was the exact thing I did NOT wish to work on. Everything else requires purchase. I LOVED Mindsnacks and paid for several lessons, so I’m very disappointed at the loss of support as it was fantastic. I will not be buying Elevate..Version: 4.7

Generally good but too US centricAs people have mention overall the layout and activities involved in the app are pretty good. Games do get a little repetitive with use of same words and similar patterns with number combination. My biggest bug bear is the emphasis on imperial measurement. Considering a majority of the world is metric, the inclusion of a game where you need to sort based of sizing that includes imperial is near impossible unless you are American (the fact that metric is a base of 10 would make it easy for US players to figure out). Combine this with some of the reading pieces also using imperial, I gave the app a lower rating. My advice, allow for an option to change to metric only, similar to how there are language options..Version: 5.77.0

Garbage app aimed at suckersIf you have seen an advert for this app you know what I mean when I say it’s aimed at idiots. It’s the equivalent of a fat person who wants to lose weight without going in a diet or having exercise. Ads, false claims , annoying adverts when I’m trying to watch YouTube or just exist in Facebook land. Stupid app,.Version: 5.30.0

Updated ReviewSince writing the review below which is still accurate, I have heard twice from Elevate explaining that the email they sent to me (& they say to other inactive accounts) was a mistake and I would absolutely not be charged. Given their responsiveness, I have added 2 stars for service. I cannot comment on the app as I deleted it. Original REVIEW: I used Elevate once on a free basis. I did not subscribe. That was 4 days ago. Elevate send me emails threatening to charge their annual fee in two days’ time BUT have no facility to cancel or to communicate w them. I deleted the app two days ago, unsubscribed to their persistent emails and Elevate continues to ignore all..Version: 5.64.0

Do not get thisIf I could give zero stars and then take away the stars that this company already has I absolutely would. I tried the free trial but didn’t want to continue and there was no way to cancel the subscription. They took £40 out of my account and when I messaged their support to help get that rectified, they could not help me and kept on asking if it was resolved when it clearly wasn’t because they had taken £40 of my money and I still had a subscription. In the end I had to call Apple support directly on the phone to get them to sort this out. The games themselves were actually great so if this app wasn’t a massive scam stealing money then it would be fantastic but unfortunately it was horrible and I had a horrible experience..Version: 5.75.0

Great until you score highHave had a wonderful seven years with Elevate - I enjoyed playing & learning once a day and have slowly crawled to the near the top at 4980 - & then despite scoring 15/15 I somehow lost 4 points - never mind I thought all good practice - My scores continued to decline despite getting excellent results - as a former statistician & AI programmer a thought occurred & I started to purposely get one set wrong out of five & voila I got a point - ha with this strategy I moved back up to 4976 only to be brought back down to 4973 - this has gone on for several months now - haha so it goes - whatever the metric going on here it is nonetheless discouraging and alas I will not be renewing this year - farewell Elevate you served me well Xx.Version: 5.127.0

FREE TRIAL ONLYAfter filled put so many questioners found out this jst a free trial. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME EVERYONE..Version: 5.77.0

Don’t support this appThis app is clearly woke. These guys are pushing an agenda - don’t add or support this biased and sanctimonious app..Version: 5.105.0

LolIts crazy how every game creator wants you to pay subscription to play fkg cellphones games😐.Version: 5.77.0

SuggestionI love the app concept, it seems like you could learn a lot, and when I saw that you could do three free lessons a day, I was excited, until I figured out that the only three you can do are pre chosen for you. I know paying is how the app generates income to maintain and improve the app, and while I know that there is a free trial, it doesn’t work out for people that just aren’t able to afford these types of things. In my opinion, it just makes so much more sense to put ads in between, such as what duolingo does, or, if that doesn’t generate much income, to watch a certain amount of ads to unlock one lesson. This works by earning a coin per ad, and then perhaps 20 coins equates to one lesson you can choose, this option would also encourage people to get the membership since it is such a high amount of ads. It’s just a suggestion, and this probably won’t even be read. But in my opinion, it’s much less stressful on people who aren’t sure if 40 dollars a year is worth it, even after the free trial..Version: 5.107.0

Extortionist pay upfront before free trialTerrible practice to require credit upfront before even trying the app. Do not sign up.Version: 5.107.0

Fun but sometimes frustratingIt’s enjoyable and does keep the grey cells active. However there are several problems. Some modules are very much oriented to US usage and convention, even when UK English is selected. In some exercises, the ‘correct’ version is horribly over punctuated in UK eyes. Occasionally the answers given are simply incorrect. When a game is played we are told how well we did compared to others but no indication is given of what period is being evaluated or whether the relative difficulty is included in the rating. It is possible to gain better results in many of the games by improving technique rather than knowledge. Some games are highly repetitive and Breyer marks are obtained simply by remembering which answers gave the best result on a previous occasion..Version: 5.43.0

Impossible to sign up, spent 20 minutesDoesn’t work, charged me over $100 before I could even use the app a single time.Version: 5.101.0

Overpriced, good but not that good!Good Brain training games, covering a range of literal everyday tasks. It’s not trying to make you more intelligent, just better at the things you already do. It is very well presented, and if you like puzzles and mini games you will very likely enjoy it. Bottom line, the developer wants nearly £40 a year for your privilege, and although the App does appear to get a lot of updates and added content it just isn’t worth it! That’s nearly the price of a AAA game on a console, and you only have to pay once for those! I don’t believe you should have to subscribe to this for anymore than £12/year, and even then I think I’d likely only use it on and off so would end up unsubscribing. Would have been much better with a 6 Week free trial, and then a one off life time membership for £20. You would have enough time to see the impact and judge if you would like the App permanently..Version: 5.21.0

Lovely but didn’t want a subscriptionI installed the 14 days trial of this game. I enjoyed it without getting crazy about it. One day it stopped working as the trial was over and I just moved on. Some days later I received an invoice for £38 for a year subscription I didn’t ask for. Maybe something was mentioned when I installed the game but I can’t recall it and I usually set a reminder to avoid mistake of the kind. What is certain is that I didn’t get any reminder when the game stop working. I’m not interested nor can afford such expense. Since the invoice offered the option to, I have reported I didn’t mean to subscribe but no reply neither from Apple nor from the developer. I reported it 5 times! Can someone please get back to me? Thank you..Version: 4.8.1

NOT A FREE TRIALI unsubscribed before the trial ended and I still got billed $61. I’m so upset!! I want my money back..Version: 5.6

Tried for Five DaysThe premise of this app is promising. I wanted to like it. Each day I do sudoku and wordle and I wanted to add some variety with other quick games. It was easy to sign up, the free trial period seemed clearly stated and the format of the app is pleasing. However, I found the wording of the instructions odd. I’m a smart, autistic person, very literal and precise. The games almost felt like they were composed by a non native English speaker. There were weird inconsistencies in some language games, assigning positive and negative connotations to words that do not exist, not concretely anyway. But the real problem which is the reason for the two star rating is the free trial period cancellation process. I took screenshots of the instructions on how to cancel when I signed up, then, to unsubscribe I had to take many more steps, one of them was missing the information on where to click! I found it on my own and read there that had I kept playing until March 1st as stated earlier I would have incurred the one-year fee because I was required to cancel at least one day before not “any time prior” as stated in the description of the plans. Not cool..Version: 5.83.0

Deceptive subscription model. User beware.I should have read the other review. I thought I was signing up for a 7 day trial and it ended up changing me for a month right out of the gate. As the developer noted on other bad reviews, I must have not clicked the right thing. The trial must be in fine print somewhere. Very shady and deceptive practice given that some people might not check their subscriptions..Version: 5.91.0

Charged wrongly for subscriptionGot the 7 day free trial on February 1st and was just charged for the whole year, 5 days later. Didn’t select the year, that was automatic and it hasn’t even been the full 7 days! Bit annoying really so have requested a refund. Also, there’s no invoice with it. The app itself is decent just be careful with subscriptions!.Version: 5.38.0

BADDo not get if you don’t have a credit/debit card or PayPal, it won’t let you proceed with training because you need to type in your credit card # or PayPal account... I’m 13, I DONT HAVE STUFF LIKE THAT! I didn’t even get to training because this icon pops up and you ether push cancel and don’t get to go to training and even if you push the other button to the right and you don’t have credit card or PayPal, I pressed none and I went to the previous screen and then the same icon popped up!!.Version: 5.7

Problem with app and companyI don’t understand why your app doesn’t list the errors in a section for us to learn from our errors. I was doing the memory part today the only items listed at the end were the ones I got right. I am confused as to what was the right word that some of the statements were referring to. When I was asked the normal question after taking the quiz whether the quiz was helpful or not I put in “not” because I couldn’t see what the correct answers to the ones that I missed. Then I got a response saying that the next time I take the quiz, it will adjust, I guess to be more helpful. What does that mean and how will it adjust? Also, while I was reading some of the reviews, I noticed that sometimes you use a computerized auto answer instead of a real person. One of the reviewer was complaining of the errors you have in some of your quizzes or tests. That was explained in the title of the review. Then in the explanation below the title they said something like “Such an app can’t afford this.”, which if your company would have allowed a human being to actually read the review along with the title you wouldn’t have put in your company’s reply to the reviewer telling them that there is a free version!!! How embarrassing!!!! I can’t see paying so very, very much money for this app if it has these problems..Version: 5.28.0

Timing everything skews learningI can see how this app could be beneficial and enjoyable to some people. However, the fact that every game is timed adds an artificial (and IMO arbitrary) goal that supersedes the learning objective of the app. While it makes sense to time the games that appropriately aim to speed up a specific ability, it doesn’t make sense to time every game—and to cut off the game when the time expires. Some things warrant a thoughtfulness that the stress of a timer precludes. It’s difficult to get the most out of an exercise like “Adjective Recall” or “Eloquence” when I’m not allowed enough time to explore my vocabulary on a deeper level. Further, these exercises are so far removed from the real-life experiences of writing and speaking that the timer offers no real measurement of one’s actual abilities. Unfortunately, access to more challenging activity levels relies on speedy responses rather than true knowledge levels. I suppose if you generally believe that “faster is better,” then this app will suit you. I, however, fail to see the benefits of the concept of “speed editing,” for example. For many of the skills this app addresses, the timer turns “training” into “gaming.” If you’re not interested in gaming, this app won’t satisfy your craving for intellectually challenging puzzles..Version: 5.37.2

Don’t downloadIt looks like it is a free app but when it is downloaded you have to register then it’s says it’s a free trial for 14 days. If not cancelled before subscription date you will be charged $65!! I immediately when in to try and remove my subscription - which I was unable to do. I’m not sure if this was because I didn’t complete the ‘start your free trial’ as none of the links I attempted to use for ‘help’ did not work!.Version: 5.9.2

Beware of false advertisingI bought a year’s subscription to the fact that I really liked how the app works in content. Then I tried to use it on my Apple Watch & error kept popping up saying I needed to login on my phone. But, was already logged in on my phone. I contacted customer service & explained what was going on. So, apparently you can only use it on the watch if it is connected to the phone & not when the watch running solo on its on cellular line only. Now, I don’t have ability to always my phone near me to make it work. That amount limited so I just wasted a years subscription for something I’m not gonna to be able use. And for a kicker free apps of equal content work just fine without being connected(actually there isn’t any other app I’m aware of especially paid app that doesn’t work not connected) & they have no plans to make this available or make a desktop version that u could access at a worse case scenario. Then, far as reimbursement they told me to take it up with Apple. Very unhappy with customer service. They seem very disinterested in making the best user platform available on all fronts. Looks like this company is just in it for the money and is not even trying to meet standard accessibility. You would expect more than effort towards paying customers….Version: 5.79.0

Good. But needs tweaking for the elderly and impaired minds. My dad is 76 years old and is OK to do this now, but it’s taken some coaching due to the interface and instructions having a fair amount of gamification and complexity. I’d love to see this kind of thing paired back, as it’s confusing for someone who’s rebuilding their short-term memory and isn’t particularly familiar with app interfaces and all the things we take for granted as younger, more mentally-fit people. Font sizes could be increased and colour contrast upped to aid accessibility, even though it is visually-appealing..Version: 5.37.1

Great App...howeverI am enjoying this App, however I have a little bit of feedback. Firstly, in the Clarity game, it was suggested to replace a phrase with ‘because’, but it was suggested that ‘because’ was placed at the beginning of a sentence. This isn’t correct grammatically, so I didn’t choose it and was penalised for my answer. Secondly, in the Subtraction game, the glittering diamonds just where the answer should go are very distracting. Thirdly one of the games, I can’t remember what it is called now, the weights and measures are imperial and there is no option to change them to metric which makes it difficult for us metric users in Europe. Overall though a good App and I like to think I am making progress. Many thanks..Version: 5.18.0

Great games and training but…Screen resolution is off. Some page elements overlap with each other or are partially obstructed by the edge of the screen. Gives the entire app a really cheap feel which is a shame because the games and resources are hugely beneficial. If it wasn’t for this poor screen resolution I would be a regular subscriber..Version: 5.125.0

Free version is now uselessI have been using Elevate for some time now. I've always loved it, but could never afford to pay for it. That was never a problem until they added this new Memory category. To be clear, the new Memory category is locked behind a pay wall. That's fine, I suppose, but the fact that they use your EPQ in Memory to calculate your overall EPQ means that if you can't afford to pay $40 a year for the app, you will no longer be able to see an accurate overall EPQ (which I used as a personal marker of how I was doing), because the new category drags your EPQ down dramatically when you can't do any of the training games in that category. My overall EPQ dropped by about 700 points. Also, I think it's crap that they no longer offer the option to pay by the month. My boyfriend pays monthly, which I might be able to make work, but now you have to pay for the full year up front, unless you have been grandfathered in from when they still offered monthly terms. I'm honestly about to stop using Elevate entirely. I know there are other brain training games out there. I'm so disappointed..Version: 5.47.0

Get rid of the timer!!I’m giving this 1 star because even after my complaints regarding the timer, they still haven’t gotten rid of it I’ve been a subscriber of this game for a couple years now and I use it for the excercises to help my brain out in my old age. But this countdown timer of 5 or 10 seconds, applied after what feels like only a short time, adds so much pressure that disables me from calculating and reaching my own answer. I don’t see any reason at all to have a countdown timer. Currently Subtraction and percentages are the two games I want to expand myself in but am unable to because it inhibits me, I just simply need more time..Version: 5.37.2

Good but too much flashing and distracting graphicsI really wish the activities were not set with flashing black grounds all the time. After a long days work, my eyes are tired. The level of visual stimulation is OTT here. Sadly I just downloaded a maths app that’s simpler. I will possibly continue with Elevate too but so far I’ve been really put off by the experience despite. The games are great. If the developers could consider toning down the motion graphics etc that would be great. For example to do another game from the same section, you are dazzled looking at spinning numbers, shooting ‘stars’, screen changes etc. I’m sitting there thinking ‘c’mon, I just want to do another game’ instead all this ceremonial stuff is happening in the background....Version: 5.39.0

Auto Renewal BSWanted to try the app during isolation so signed up for free trial. Of course, as I’m sure they hoped and planned, I forgot to cancel. I was charged automatically for a 1 year subscription- not a week- not a month - a full year. I asked for a refund and was told I had to got to Apple. Apple’s stupid support Bot told me I was eligible for a refund. This free trial-auto renewal stuff is a trap and needs to stop..Version: 5.25.0

ScammersI installed this app a year or two ago maybe more. Probably realised very quickly that you need to pay to play or get any of the actual functionality of the app so deleted it, likely within a week, making sure I cancelled any free trial, although I’m fairly sure I never actually signed up for that either. Today I get an email out of the blue saying my free trial expires in 2 days and payment will be taken unless cancelled! (Yes I checked and it was from the genuine company email). As far as I can tell they don’t have any of my payment details or authority to take money from me but it’s still a concern that this has happened so I’ve asked them to remove me entirely from their accounts. I’d suggest that everyone avoid this app and if you’ve ever had it put in a similar request to be forgotten before they start to try and charge you too!.Version: 5.64.0

Information to consider. You are required to provide them with email, age and names before starting the trail. Once you have done this, and proceed, then you are made aware that if you do not cancel you will automatically be billed 50 plus dollars a year, and there after for the program use. If you decided that this is a bit deceptive, or concerning, and then stop all forward movement with their product, by that point they have acquired your name and other info to either bother your with or sell to other interested parties..Version: 5.20.0

Made for the wrong reasons $$$Very quickly gave the bad impression of a money grabbing attitude. App looks “slick” but at every opportunity they are trying to force the naive to hand over details and buy buy buy. To be more in depth: Starts off with harmless base line skill test. Easy enough. Asks for email address, name and age, and then the next page is telling you it’s £40 a year after 7 day free trial (zero mention of free account at this point). You should not have to hand over personal information before seeing account options! So the naive might just say well ok if my only option is paid then maybe I’ll try it. It isn’t till you click the X button to say no that it springs the option of a free account on you in a desperate grab to keep you as a user. Honestly this whole starting setup was so off putting. Gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried a couple of tests. Found them confusingly explained and missing key information to complete the tasks without making unnecessary errors that would affect your end results. Glad it was a free download..Version: 5.22.0

SCAM! Not free, $53... ZERO stars!Run screaming from this one. I can’t believe The App Store touts this as “editor’s choice!” Asks if after a 7-day trial you agree to $53 auto-charged to your Apply account, and then DOESN’T ALLOW YOU TO OPT OUT!! It also noted in small print that if I selected the “Sign up with Facebook” option, it would share my info. Gathering of personal info appears to the the main goal of this “game.”.Version: 5.23.0

Pretty good...I enjoy this app, have found it useful and interesting. A couple of things that annoy me (and the reasons I have only given 3 stars) though is the fact that there is a TIME LIMIT ON EVERYTHING! If you’re like me, and don’t do well under pressure, I recommend you do not download this app. Like another reviewer has pointed out, the game “Memory” leaves a lot to be desired, as you have to find and type the word. Also, several definitions are hideously incorrect...developers, check the dictionary please! Overall, it is ok if you’re not too picky with definitions and time limits etc..Version: 5.37.0

ElevateI unsubscribed . Was understood I could do so anytime. No refund??? Third party, should never deal w third party. Too many demands.Version: 5.89.0

Beware! You will be charged as soon as this app is downloadedI decided to check out this app based on the recommendations from the App Store. I downloaded this and then deleted after reading there was a subscription fee. I had no idea that it immediately signed me up for a 7 day free trial. I just happened to be going through my emails. I found an email in my spam saying I had two days to cancel or I would charged their ANNUAL FEE. Of course when I look at the date today is the day. I click on the link in the email to cancel subscription, but this of course is a bunch of confusing directions and articles you have to read which basically are misguided and gives no straight link just to cancel. I contact support it is all monitored through email no live person to speak to. I emailed to recover my password to check the status but I forgot it. I never receive an email for reset and of course I submit an email for assistance and it basically says they are busy and there could be a wait. This email arrives immediately in my inbox but still no password reset email. This application is a sham! This needs to be addressed. Don’t click on this app if you don’t want to be charged without your consent!.Version: 5.64.0

Good but gets boring (and demotivating)I’ve had this for some time now. The quality of the games themselves is great but after a while it gets really repetitive and boring. I can’t actually see how some of the games help at all and would prefer a better assessment of my own progress not the weird quotients or gimmicky leaderboard on how my result fares. If I get everything right but I’m a bit slower one day to the next, that could mean I’m 11th fastest compared to 2nd or 3rd yesterday. The metrics therefore actually become somewhat counterintuitive and a bit demotivating (or pointless). I’d rather see how my brain is doing and progressing rather than being motivated by speed alone. Also the games are great, but can’t more be unlocked quicker as I can’t see that playing one over and over is improving my absorption or familiarity - I’m the same as I was yesterday (or slower) and bored of the repetition. It needs more. I doubt I’d pay for the annual product again..Version: 5.74.0

Poor suppoertWas sent an email advising me I would be charged my annual membership fee in 2 days time. I haven’t previously had a membership or a free trial to this app (certainly not within the last 2/3 years) and I should cancel if I don’t want to be charged. The cancel link just brings me to this page on the App Store, where I can’t see any details about me having a subscription or a way to cancel the subscription. I’ve downloaded the app and tried logging in using the email address I was contacted on and no luck. Have asked for a link to be sent to the same email address to reset my password but no email has been received. This would make me assume I have no account, but why would I be receiving an email if that were true. I do NOT want to be charged for a subscription to this app, which hasn’t been used by me in any recent time, but there is no support I can see to contact anyone in regards to the problem I am having. If any cancellation notice should be required, then please allow this to serve as it. Poor experience all round, for an app I don’t even use and haven’t done in the recent past..Version: 5.64.0

FraudThis is a scammer app, they will chrage you without consent! Avoid this app.Version: 5.64.0

Do NOT download, SCAM PRACTICEThey will send you scam email telling you a will be charged an annual fee because free trial is over, the truth is that they tricked you that the only way to cancel is to go to the download link on app store, dirty and disgusting. Do NOT download..Version: 5.64.0

Tricked into buyingCall a finger mess, or not paying attention, it appears I bought this software as it “sort of” appeared on my tablet with a bill on my credit card... Not really attracted bu the software itself..Version: 5.23.0

Negative Billing Fiasco!Downloaded and went for the free trial. Didn’t even find time to actually try it. Turned off subscription with time to spare... but it somehow got turned back on?! Because I was charged for a year! Absolutely unacceptable underhanded practice. Reported it to Apple and thankfully got a refund, but it was stressful to me and still took time. I left official feedback with iTunes and am now doing so here as well. I want these people investigated and either reformed and stripped of their editor’s pick status or just outright removed. Do not try this app unless you are sure you want a subscription..Version: 5.27.1

Dishonest people run this app ! They steal from you if you are not paying attention!I’ve purchased the app on May05, 2020. I had no option to pay monthly back then... So I did buy the anual plan... I was kind of enjoying the game... not really (it’ takes forever to bump levels, to purpose delay your progress and keep you there), but it was purchased for the year, might as well use it.. Today May 23rd, less than a month after my purchase, you are asking me to pay more in order to have access to the training that I paid for !!!! Today the app only gave access to half of what it usually provides... than gives me the option to pay more money monthly or annually to then “ unlock “ the app ! Insulting, dishonest and absurd are good adjectives for that type of procedure. I’m not only disappointed, but willing to take action against this abuse! If you don’t explain this to me and unlock the app I’ve paid for... I’ll find a way to get my money back from apple and I will do my best to let everyone on social media know about your tricky set up (aka: dirty scam...).Version: 5.27.1

Why can’t I cancel the trial through the appUpdate - customer service responded almost instantly and confirmed that the email I received was in error and that no payment will be charged. Aside from the error that was done, excellent customer service I downloaded the app, used it once, deleted the app and today I received an email to say unless I cancel it I will be charged in the next 48hrs…. The only way to cancel is to send an email to their customer support and apparently you have to cancel 24hrs prior to being charged. So the email says 48hrs but you really have 24hrs and rely on someone getting the email….. I am hoping that they respond with “it’s canceled” and therefore I don’t get charged. If they do get back to me And don’t charge me I will update my review…..Version: 5.64.0

Memory Games excluded all of a suddenRating it one star coz the memory games have just been taken out all of a sudden..Version: 5.77.0

Problematic subscriptionsI got a email stating that my free trial was running out and for me to ‘click here’ to cancel. I did not sign up for a free trial. I clicked and it asked me to download the app. So I did. It said when you open the app click profile, settings then cancel subscriptions. Signed in, only for it to ask me questions on my capabilities for reading and writing. It then gave me no option but to either pay or start a free trial?!? Would not let me into ‘my account’ to cancel. Here’s the issue: that email was inaccurate, I do not have a free trial, so it suckers people into starting a free trial only to have to cancel at a later date, that consumer may forget and bingo they have another paying customer! They’ve been drawn into a free trial by questionable email marketing! This needs to stop!.Version: 5.64.0

Fees and age restrictionsThis game sounded awesome with the editors choice award and the 4.8 out of five rating. But there is a hidden fee that once you do the first level that you have to pay annually. I have been looking for a game for a long time now for free brain training game. And you can go with you can play the game but you can only do kind of like the first level that shows you where you are in the game. But then everything else is locked you can literally not with any other game. Also I am 11 and I again I’ve been looking for a game that is free but also can be any age to play. I do not think it’s fair to hold a restriction on people that of under age of 13That is a game of just brain training that is not an inappropriate at all. Otherwise all the stuff I said before if you were over 13 and don’t mind paying money every single month to play brain training game this game is great I’m gonna give credit to it they made a really good program and it sounds fun. I guess I will go back on the hunt to find a brain training game that let me play without paying money and Let me play under the age of 13..Version: 5.59.0

No good for Australia!I was about to purchase a subscription, however after playing more games, I noticed there is no toggle for Australian English or for metric units only. We do not use pounds and ounces here and as they are not in base ten, it’s very confusing! I also lost time in a game for clicking a spelling error on colo(u)r and hono(u)r. I would expect to see some kind of recognition for this. Eg they did have a note about the “Oxford comma” usage with no penalty. Otherwise seems fun, but no way am I paying for a product that has no allowance for my language..Version: 5.73.0

Is this a scam?I have not used this app in years. Today I got an e-mail that I would be charged a yearly subscription if I did not click on a link. I click on the link and it takes me to the App Store to re-download the app..Version: 5.64.0

Repetitive Content, finished alreadyIf you pay for the sub, know that the entire game has a pretty short life. Every game only allows you to max out at /400 points. The sentences and questions are the same over and over for many games, with no new challenges or content being updated. The last 100 points of the allowable 400 asked me the same questions, in repetition over and over. Once you max out the 400 points, you essentially cannot play that specific game anymore unless you want to play content you’ve already completed, because they don’t add anything new. Even if there are 20+ game categories, you can finish them all if you play daily to the maximum attempts in less than a month or two, so there is no real incentive in purchasing an annual subscription. I don’t see any new content or questions being added to the available games..Version: 5.89.1

No new gamesIt’s been a long time since this developer added new games. I’ve even written to the developer two years ago about my ideas on possible new games. Nothing. And as other users have said, this APP is heavily US-centric. If it is genuinely “brain” training, then the message seems to be that you have to think like an American to train your brains. What about British English? And don’t forget there are thousands of other languages in the world. Why not develop activities for other languages like Duolingo? I stopped using this APP a long time ago and recently, just out of curiosity to see if anything has improved, nothing. So disappointing. It’s like the developers themselves need to train their own brains..Version: 5.5

Choices.A little too much emphasis on meaningless scores. The purpose of the game and the game itself a little too hurried. Aren’t you already compensating for the time it takes to answer. The questions and choices of answers could do with a little more acceptance of not being so specific. The styles of questioning could come away from the classroom to encompass more relevance to daytime problems eg cars travelling. Grocery shopping, weather, electricity consumption. (ac all night or heater on thermostat,) Math conversions metric/ imperial, for baking perhaps making it a choice. Some IQ thrown in..Version: 5.45.0

Deceptive adsAny app that has to use deception open the AppStore is one I will NEVER install..Version: 5.18.0

PaymentElevate is an amazing app and has helped me a lot when it has come to evolving my mind and the way that I think. It is just irritating that for the complete experience you have to pay for it. If you are creating a learning app like this, you shouldn’t have to pay for it. The aim of this app is to help people grow, of all ages but you can’t do that to the fullest if you have to pay. Paying for the full experience in an app is one of the most expensive, annoying and ridiculous things that we have one these phones and it’s just dumb..Version: 5.45.0

SuspiciousUnlike many upset reviewers I’m managing to use the completely Free version (I hope!). But I have noticed something I’m not happy about. The app begins by asking what category you’re most interested in developing. I picked mine. Strangely … I get almost no games in that category. And in fact I can’t even see my stats in that category — which are mysteriously “locked”. Obviously this makes me think about subscribing, but the price is ridiculous, so I won’t be doing that! I can’t help suspecting the locked category isn’t just a coincidence … Update: thanks for your reply, but I won’t be subscribing. For one thing, I don’t like that you used my answer to hide the very part of the game I’m most interested in. But you might not have considered the other problem — if you don’t even show me a taste of that category, how could I decide it’s worth paying for?.Version: 5.67.1

Subscription warning !I agreed to a 7 day free trial fallowed by a monthly basis, instead I got billed for 1 year ! App would not allow me to send feedback, so here it is. F*ck you Elevate, that’s theft in my book. Otherwise I like the app....Version: 5.28.0

Good but not enoughI have enjoyed using this app but after challenging myself to do it daily for a couple of months I feel like it’s become a chore and isn’t doing much for me. The games/daily challenges are so short, and basically over in a few seconds. I doubt any one of them usually takes more than a minute or so. It’s just not enough time to “exercise” my brain. Additionally, I have been playing consistently, and consistently doing very well (usually a few personal bests a day) yet the material doesn’t seem to be getting more challenging. Most of the math is something my 10 year old could do, though not as quickly. Similar with a lot of the reading and grammar challenges. Even memory stuff. I think this app is a fun way for an adult to feel like they are doing something for their cognitive health, but after a while is mostly an ego boost designed to make you feel smart for doing elementary school level problems quickly. I’d gain a lot more from an actual challenge. If I’m setting high scores every day, I’m not being challenged, so it can’t be doing much to exercise my brain. I’d rather be challenged to think more deeply, not just more quickly. I am close to giving up. I had hoped that if I played every day it would start giving me harder material. Too bad I have another 7 months on my membership..Version: 5.54.0

No free version available, don’t payI was really excited to use this app until I downloaded it and realized you only get a 7 day free trail, then they start charging you so much money. It would be really nice if they had a free version or option on the app..Version: 5.88.0

Misleading. This app is not free. The app gets you past the assessment and account set-up points before it has you agreeing to a $53.99 charge. This is clearly meant to trap unobservant people. This app is not free, but merely a 14 trial for a very expensive app. Download at your discretion..Version: 5.19.0

Not TransparentI reviewed “Elevate”. and word was it was “free”. After I enrolled and provided a whole bunch of personal and private information , I waw told this was only a trail version and I would have to pay for the App. This is a egregious, fraudulent, misleading and misleading falsity. Shame on the proprietors of this App They are only digging for your personal information. Transparency , openness , truthfulness is essential . You are committing fraud !.Version: 5.18.0

Took all of my money!I had a card with over 50 bucks on it, and I was doing the week payment plan and I check a week later and it switched itself to the YEAR PLAN and I DONT have any money left! I am outraged!.Version: 5.20.0

Extremely unhappyI downloaded this app and within a week they charged me $60 for a full year subscription without my approval. I tried to request a refund and was unable to and I feel like I was scammed. I don’t remember reading anything saying that I would be charged. Don’t recommend this app..Version: 5.27.1

Good, but not greatI’m a fan of this app, and I just subscribed for the second year. I wasn’t planning on it, though, because as I progressed through the levels, I found the scoring system significantly lacking. What really annoys me about it is that as you progress, there’s no recognition for the increased difficulty. Meaning, I can get my high score in a game the first time I play it because it’s so easy, but it’s scored the EXACT SAME WAY when the stakes are raised! The difficulty setting is way way higher, so it’s virtually impossible to achieve a high score in any game beyond the beginning stages of playing it. You’re forever getting your 5th or 6th highest score, or worse, because the game is that much more difficult now. It ends up taking all the fun out playing, and is why I took like an 8 month break. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the games and do find them challenging, but it’s incredibly frustrating to get a high score when the difficulty setting is at Beginner and NEVER be able to touch it again! If they fix that, this app would be amazing!.Version: 4.8.1

Scam, PhishingDO NOT DOWNLOAD. IT IS NOT!!!! In app purchases with free app, NO, it is a paid app, period, that is violating apples rules by 100% avoiding the Apple Pay system!!! I hope they get banned soon for phishing for and collecting personal info outside of the app. Second, they do not tell you it is a paid for app until AFTER you create an account where they will sell your info. They claim they don’t sell your info, but I used a unique name to create an account, and low and behold, I do got spam emails to my account with that fake name I used, and THIS IS THE ONLY APP I EVER USED IT ON! Pathetic. Too bad too, because it actually looks like it would be fun!! They then just tried to contact me asking me to change my review because they only collect the email to create the account, EVEN THOUGH immediately started receiving emails I NEVER consented to, NEVER. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!.Version: 5.101.0

Vocabulary exercises are inaccurate and need reviewI think this is a great app overall, but it really fails in exercises devoted to eloquence, clarity, improved speaking, etc. The app has been written to ask for substitutes or give additional synonyms. Many of the suggested synonyms aren’t actually synonyms, although they are close. In many cases, the app give points for supplying rarely used words in quite simple sentences. It doesn’t sound eloquent; instead I think the speaker would be perceived as lacking clarity or even speaking pretentiously. Eloquence cannot exist without clarity. The developers should have some conversations with editors and university-level writing instructors, I think, to sort out these “bugs.” I’m neither, by the way, but have certainly benefitted from both groups. On the other hand, the mathematical sections are great and I’ve found the punctuation reviews helpful. Of course, the punctuation system doesn’t always fit with current usage offering multiple correct solutions based on different contexts. So... B- (needs improvement, but on the right track).Version: 5.41.0

Terrible mathThe math problems are terribly written for non-math, visual type brains. They say: ‘shaded pieces’ in a pie but mean the white pieces not the grey!! They use words like ‘denominator’ and other maths terms which may not be known, remembered or understood. You can’t select your level without intentionally failing tests in a laborious system. I usually can’t understand the math explanations at all, although I am top level on the English games. Makes me give up. They should have a non math expert fix their languaging for the math games into layman’s terms. Very disappointing, and having the reverse effect of making me feel bad about math rather than improving my skills..Version: 5.22.0

Kind of averageSome things I noticed during the free trial that mean I won't be carrying on: - Reading is often a test of knowledge than what you read. Using real world examples isn't great because you assume, for example, that the user doesn't know Antonio Vivaldi was a composer. So when you ask that question based on the passage it may be testing comprehension or it may be testing prior knowledge. It'd be better to completely abstract the subjects in the texts. - Too many hints and you can't turn them off. - Some games are completed by a process of elimination rather than knowing something - like matching proportions. - Appears to either be random in its approach to which quizzes you get or it's not approaching it from the position of your weaknesses..Version: 4.8.1

Repeat much?Tried this when it first came out as Peak. Found it boring and inefficient and repetitive, so would come and go. Returned again when name changed to Elevate. But little else has changed. On the free trial you are still unable to try all the games, so that’s very cheeky. On the full subscription I get the same set of games on rotation, with the same questions, in the daily training. Some of the games/questions are an insult to fluent English speakers/writers/readers. Many games focus on where you touch the screen or how you give the answers, than the actual answer or method…surely not the point? Charging for some fancy music, visuals and being judged against the crowd is arrogant and laughable. And so American: “you are in the such-and-such percentile” - says who? Of how many? Based on these few, silly and easy tests? And has the stupidity of the game itself been accommodated in the score? And what does that mean to me? Will I get a gold medal? Ooh a badge. For £30/year??? To really want to speak English, read your favourite books in English. English needs improvement? Internet is full of excellent free games: Cryptics, Crossword, Sudoku. If you really want to practice percentages and division? Buy a maths workbook from WHSmith-a lifetime supply of workbooks for the cost of an Elevate annual subscription. Buy this at your own peril..Version: 5.61.0

Loved it until I discovered shallow contentI love it, except for there seems to be missing the Listening section which is shown in my iPhone widget section, which I would find really helpful. As was stated elsewhere, once you get to higher difficulty it still keeps the scores from when it was super easy, so you can only do “good”, can only proceed by 1 (up to 400, when it gets extremely difficult around 200) and never “excellent”, which is painstaking and poor design. Perhaps they are only marketing it for people who only use it for two weeks then quit? (Perhaps because the trial period doesn’t last that long). Cheap gimmick to make people cough up $9, which no app costs that much. I am quickly losing patience with what I thought was a game-changer, or “brain-changer”, but poor design makes it bog down quick, especially as it seems that after only 2 weeks I’m in the 92nd percentile in everything but math, where I’m almost to 98th percentile. This is indicative that people lose interest quick because of the poor level progression. I’m really bummed :( Developers: get it together!.Version: 5.9.1

ScamBefore you guys think about signing up for the free trial, make sure u don’t make the same mistake as me. I recently signed up for the seven days free trial to see if this app would help. I ended up forgetting and received 0 reminders or anything notifying me of getting charged for a year. I signed up for a free 7 day trial then they shoot me with a $65 dollar yearly subscription. Definitely a big scam on there side. Then they contact you saying they want to help and send u to apple where you have tried to get a refund multiple times and get declined each time. Make sure you don’t get scammed like me because people like this are in human and don’t deserve the money they earn..Version: 5.64.0

Improving your mind… So long as you’re not disabled.I had forgotten why I had deleted this app at some point in the distant past, and thought I would give it another shot. The reviews, afterall, were some of the best for any app out there. As a visually impaired person however, and a user of the iOS screenreader “VoiceOver“ the reason why I did not become a regular user became apparent as soon as I opened the app. In short, the developers appear to have made no attempt whatsoever to make their app accessible with VoiceOver, making it completely on usable bye anybody who relies upon it to access their phone. Do they think somehow that visually impaired people wouldn’t want to use it? Perhaps we don’t use our minds like other people? Or maybe they know we have perfect cognition already! Perhaps one day the developers will come to their senses and insure that their product is available for everyone, but in the meantime it is quite useless for me..Version: 5.44.1

Too hyper—speed isn’t everythingI would like you to make options available at the outset to use a slower pace. The answers are easy but there is not enough time to touch the correct answer. I suggest slowing things down initially and allowing speed to increase gradually on an individual basis. Let each person challenge themselves with speed. I work with elderly adults doing brain fitness. They can’t use this app because it goes too fast. I look for apps they can use between or instead of our sessions. I tell them about this and other apps but I’m not enthusiastic about your app. And it’s too bad because I think it could be a better if it was more accessible to use. I’d like to be able to suggest it. I have spent 40+ years studying people from various cultures who are advanced spiritually and whose presence benefits the world in profound ways. They tend to move and live in a calmer state. What they have to teach us is far more significant than how fast we can think and move. Their experience of Life is very different from most of us and far more fulfilling..Version: 5.44.1

ElevateI just received an email saying my free subscription ends in two days, it says I will be charged an annual fee .It say if I wish to cancel “ click here”.After doing so I did not see any place to cancel. I better not be charged..Version: 5.64.0

ScamGot email I was going to be charged for this app. Email directs you to the app work th. O where to cancel the app..Version: 5.64.0

The clock wins againAlthough in general I find the games interesting,I have a genuine bone to pick in regard to the Memory game which is part of the speech component. I find the parameters of this game rather limiting. Firstly one has to read and interpret the definition, then find and type (and thus by extension spell as well )the word on a constantly changing keyboard, all of this while trying to beat the clock! The problem with this is that there are often more words that fit the definition than the game allows for, therefore time is wasted looking for letters that are not there, forcing the player to rethink, spell, type etc. End result.....the more extensive your vocabulary the more likely the clock is to win! Secondly, I wonder as to the efficacy of this game in improving VERBAL skills. It is one thing to know the definition of a word but quite another to know and understand when and how to use it!.Version: 5.25.0

Almost perfectI rarely rate apps; you can look at my history, and see I only review an application if it’s disappointing. Elevate is not so terrible but it lacks things that you would think they would have fixed by now. I am an annual membership holder, so you know I’m not lying about investing time in this. The app is great, and it has a few awesome tricks that make visitors return and seek out activities (interesting stories, the music, positive feedback, etc). There are two concerns that need tweaking: 1.) Stopping a streak in the middle of a personalized workout because the time becomes 12:00 am. I feel it short-sighted to make the algorithm blind to a continuous workout in favor of ending your streak, even if you’re on the last activity! Some of us are busy and we don’t have the time to exercise until evening. 2.) There are not enough study materials for math problems, and not enough helpful strategies demonstrated to become stronger in mental math. I am talking specifically in the “study” section of elevation. Where are the study materials for Equivalence and Conversions? Also, can you give us the open to play without being timed on purchasing and discounts? I hate mental math, but one of the reasons I’m using this app is to become better at it, why would I want the stress of being timed when I just want to learn?.Version: 5.75.0

Feelings Over Facts: Wokeness 101After playing one game where they present a word and you are tasked with presenting a word synonymous to the word, I was told “queer” is not synonymous with “strange.” I email the company to tell them about the error, and this is the response I got: (to summarize: “yes your answer is correct, but we are worried more about people’s feelings rather than their education.”) Hi Vivian, Thank you for contacting us with your feedback. Although one definition of queer is indeed "strange," in certain contemporary contexts, queer is also used negatively to criticize people. Merriam-Webster does note that queer, as it relates to sexual orientation and gender identity, can be used as a "positive self-descriptor." Nonetheless, it goes on to state: "The pejorative uses of queer, however, have certainly not vanished. Both the adjective and noun continue to be highly offensive when used disparagingly." Because the interpretation of queer as a positive self-descriptor is highly individualized, and because it is still often used to describe others offensively, we have elected to not accept queer as an acceptable response to prevent offense to users who may have experienced such negative language in the past. Let us know if you have any more questions about this. Kind regards, Emma.Version: 5.64.0

Games won’t load…Seems like it would be great so started a free trial and it keeps showing an error message and won’t download the game. Cancelled subscription..Version: 5.79.0

Fantastic But ExpensiveThis app is amazing for learning, it tells me statistics, gives me all the help I need and more. However there are many areas to improve, firstly I am only able to play 3 games daily due to the high price of pro. The pro is too expensive and is not worth £38! Yearly. I think it should be £10 yearly, or maybe free! Another thing that should be tweaked is that the pictures and ads only show the pro features attracting people to get the app and then gets disappointed by seeing £38 yearly. I think you should talk pro away, make everyone happy and give everyone all the games for free. It would have been 5 stars but the money and expensive products is just disgusting..Version: 5.27.0

Scam practicesWas charged for an year subscription automatically. Those are shady practices! I tried to contact the company for reimbursement but they did not reply to my email. Also the feedback button in the app does not work... This damages the credibility for other subscriptions apps. :).Version: 5.21.0

Games were fun, but not for 53.99I tried the game, lost my phone, and was charged 53.99 for a years subscription… at least charge me for the month. This game PRAYS on people! Misleading and shady.Version: 5.92.0
