Pillow: Sleep Tracker for Negative User Reviews

Interesting at FirstI thought this was interesting at first, but I don’t think I’ll continue using for several reason. It eats up my battery on my Apple Watch - 50% used consistently. It also doesn’t seem to read very accurately at all. It’s horrified me how much actual sleep I am getting as it’s barely anything - but the app seems to think I am awake a lot when I am not. I know I haven’t been awake at the times it’s said and it seems to think I’m in a deep sleep when I’ve woken up. Re-analysing the session doesn’t do anything. One of the main reasons I got this app over others was not only the good reviews, but people saying that the premium features were a one off £5 payment. You have to subscribe to everything nowadays so that seemed great. Well - you now have to subscribe to this too, and to be perfectly honest, I do not think it’s worth the price. £8 a month is steep..Version: 3.9.64

Currently crashingUpdate:- I used this app for years, just as a free version. Since the update a few months ago it’s just continually crashing. Even as I try to arrange an alarm and chose then ringtone, it just crashes. I daren’t trust it as an alarm because what if it crashes and doesn’t wake me? I keep hoping an update will fix it, but until now it hasn’t. Previous review:- Love the app. One thing I would like to see is more options on the data displayed in the graph, specifically ‘sleep duration vs ...’ rather than ‘sleep quality vs....’ Also, another suggestion would be in nap mode, to have the app wake you after so many minutes of sleep, rather than a set time. For example, if I set power nap mode, it will wake me in 20 minutes time, even if I was awake for the first 15 minutes! It would be nice if the app could start counting the 20 minutes once it realises you have fallen asleep, so you actually sleep for 20 minutes..Version: 4.2.3

Wildly inaccurateI’ve given this a good few weeks and I just don’t get it. I synced it to my Apple Watch which I wear through the night, but basically you get given a suggestion of how much you’ve slept and if it doesn’t match what you know to be true, you click to reanalyse the night. They then show you a number of possibilities and you have to tell them what matches most closely to how much you slept. So, your paying to tell them how you slept??? Last night I went to bed at ten and went out like a light, I slept till 5am without waking and feel better than I have in a long while. When I checked my phone it said I’ve had 3h 42 mins sleep! Quality 60%. Some of the reanalyse suggestions were closer but they’re basically just ‘having a guess’. Cancelled now and will look for something better..Version: 4.5.1

Completely useless without buying the premium packI’ve downloaded it based on the good review but after a few days using it I noticed you are unable to go back to previous days to check on your data. It is ok, I understand the company needs to make some money and decided to use it a bit more to collect my patterns in my health app. At the very least I was going to have the total of hours I slept everyday, right? Uh, no... for some reason the app collects the data but did not push it to health unless you open the app everyday. That put me off of trying to give any money to this company..Version: 3.7

Want to buy...but doesn’t workI like this app, it simple and easy to use. I’ve wanted to buy it for some time but have decided to wait or look for a better app because it drains the battery from my phone and watch because the app has to remain open on the screen in order to track sleep. It also does not track things accurately. I have also had times where the app has failed in the middle of the night and shut off. I wish the app would automatically track my sleep by being in my watch like the heartbeat app does, and how it automatically tracks my steps, workout, and standing. The app should automatically start up when I’m in bed and track my sleep. I forget to turn it on most nights, it should partner with the heartbeat app and when your heart rate lowers to a level that most people’s heart beats at while sleeping it should start. The Samsung watch does it, why can’t ours. Update: Another problem with this application is when left plugged in and on the bed where it can potentially be pushed under the pillow, blankets, or your body, it causes the phone to heat up to high temperatures. I don’t understand why we are so far behind androids technology. We get everything after they have had it for years. Why? 😣😫.Version: 3.6.5

Lost Access to InformationI purchased one month to study my breathing and snoring so I could discuss with my doctor. After the month was up I wasn’t able to view the data that I paid for! Not at all happy with that. Will never use again. Just a money grab and obviously aren’t interested in your satisfaction if you are looking at short periods of time to compare against..Version: 3.9.76

Not great at tracking automaticBecause of the nature of my job, I sleep two or three times during the day. This app is great at tracking sleep when it’s not auto mode, but on auto mode it’s unreliable. Sometimes it sill track only one session and not the other. I said the same thing a few months ago in a review and the app developer’s response was that I was not using the app properly, which doesn’t make sense because for the app to work you just have to have your watch on..and sleep! Update: After several back and forths with Customer service they have not been able to identify the problem with the app not able to record accurately more than one sleep sessions. It still does the same thing 2nd Update: The person who responds on these reviews always assumes the app to be perfect and any problem is the fault of the user. I have just said that I’ve had several back and forths with customer service and they were not able to resolve the problem I have with the app, which is that it is inaccurate when recording multiple sleep sessions when in auto mode.Version: 4.0.14

STILL Fundamentally Flawed….I gave this app a try once again (out of multiple attempts), and after tonight’s sleep of 5 hours and 4 minutes, it says I was awake for TWO HOURS AND 36 MINUTES of that time…. I was NEVER awake for that long during the night; instead, I might have been fully awake for no more than about 15 minutes…. The microphone sensitivity was set to Medium (by default by the app), and even after Apple has updated their sleep algorithm for iOS 16, and checked the option for the Pillow app to use the Apple Sleep Stages data, the app STILL gave me a bad reading…. For whatever reason, the Pillow algorithm keeps showing that I am awake for huge periods of time during the night, instead of either lightly sleeping or in a deeper level of sleep…. All in all: Once again, after a third and fourth try of usage, it’s still not worth it to pay for a subscription to this app until they have fixed their algorithm when it comes to tracking sleep. Honestly, nobody should have to constantly go back after a sleep session to reanalyze, or “edit” their sleep due to poor analytics from a sleep tracking app…. Instead, it should just work, and at least give users a general idea of their sleep habits. This one, sadly, for yet another try, just doesn’t cut it…..Version: 4.12.2

Complete rubbish - Inaccurate data!Seriously I swear this app just makes data up! I’ve used now for a straight week and nothing I’m seeing remotely corresponds with what I know For example: Amazingly it always takes me 8 minutes to fall asleep even though I know for a fact I’ve been well aware that it’s taken far longer on a couple of nights That’s 8 minutes EVERY SINGLE NIGHT FOR THE LAST WEEK, oh please! Ridiculous! R.E.M.!? How on Earth can this app determine if I’ve been in R.E.M. state. Also I’ve woken up in the middle of the night leaned over taken on water and checked my iPad and guess what - no orange bar to indicate I’ve been awake apparently I’ve been in a light sleep. Like I say it’s just pumping out random data that kind of looks neat and clever the first time until you start to actual stack it up against what is happening to you in the real world Annoyed and looking to get my money back. Load of old mumbo jumbo! Only got 1 star because I have to give that to post. Don’t be conned Update : received a reply from the Developers. Thank you for your response. Yes I use an Apple Watch ( series 3) and yes I have the latest version. Unable to change my review as it’s IMHO a accurate account but I wish you well with its future development..Version: 3.5.2

InaccurateWaste of time.Version: 3.9.91

Didnt Track sleepI had this app for a couple days and it didn’t track my sleep at all. 🤷‍♀️ Time to try a different one..Version: 3.9.76

Not very accurateI was awake and sitting at my desk for 45 minutes. This pillow app says I was in REM sleep during that time..Version: 3.7.6

Last update causes major bugJust to update, still the worst app. Doesn’t track sleep accurately. It’s Apple Watch app is difficult to use. Wish I didn’t jump straight into a year subscription like an idiot. Don’t waste your money. So twice now I’ve used the alarm function on my Apple Watch and after turning the alarm off the app apparently continues to think I’m sleeping. In fact it thinks I’m sleeping ALL DAY LONG. Now it does have me as awake during the day but it drains my battery and just doesn’t track right. On top of that I can’t turn off the sound again and wake up only to the haptics. I regret getting this app and even more so regret paying for the subscription. I’m just about 3 days into using this app. One thing that doesn’t make sense to me if why I can’t use the smart alarm on my Apple Watch during automatic sleep tracking mode. Then when I set it up for manual mode, when the alarm goes off my watch screen doesn’t turn on to turn it off. Neither did my phone screen turn on to give me an option to turn it off. The layout compared to other apps are much easier to read. I like the look of the app. I’m just having a hard time being willing to pay for a premium subscription because I want the automatic sleep tracking with a good smart alarm that wakes you gradually. And it would be nice to turn off the alarm easily..Version: 3.9.76

GlitchyThe alarm can not be trusted. I slept 2 hours past the “alarm” this week - the count down was stuck at 0. The alarm hasn’t worked for a week. I’ve had this app for 3 years and it does this every once in a while. Luckily, this week was the first time it made me late for work..Version: 3.9.63

Why do I need a subscription for an alarm clockSuddenly added subscription requirement. Very annoying. Will be deleting the app - $5.99/month is also an insane price..Version: 3.9.63

Not intuitive on Apple WatchI like the app and would rate higher but the Apple Watch issue really drives down the value for me at this point. - My suggestion is to find a way to simplify how the sleep analysis works on Apple Watch and ensure that it does so consistently. Not to mention if you need troubleshoot support that you can get it from beginning to end. It seems it worked fine when I first got the watch (3 days of painless reporting on my watch) and now it never shows my sleep analysis information on the watch. I’ve basically gotten fed up with attempting to trouble shoot - no real help from support. Now I just let it do it’s thing when I sleep (automatic tracking), and check the app on my phone now after spending almost 2 weeks trying to figure out the issue. I’ve done every possible fix available - still doesn’t update on my watch. Now I just use Apple sleep complications for my watch main screen and just check Pillow on my phone. It’s a little frustrating tho - not going to lie. I personally love the color and design of the analysis of Pillow for the main watch screen complication over the Apple sleep analysis, but I can’t get it to work and frankly I’m over trying. I pay for premium and considering that - I’d like to access all the functionality but at this point I’m tired of banging my head on the wall. Other than that (which is so so SO frustrating) it’s alright, but this pain point definitely drives my review scoring. Otherwise, I’d give the app 4-5 stars..Version: 4.17.4

DisappointedI downloaded this app after using another similar application. I like the layout and functionality of the app and so signed up for a year. I like that I can wear my Apple Watch and it tracks automatically. However I have noticed some issues that have led to me being disappointed and feeling let down by the service. 2 nights ago I was alerted the following morning to the previous night being the best nights sleep I had had. I know for a fact it was the worst nights sleep I’d had whilst using the app. Frequently I am shown as being in deep sleep when I know I was actually awake - because I saw the time on the clock. Looking back this appears to have happened on numerous occasions. Therefore, I wonder how accurate the tracking actually is. I appreciate that there will always be inaccuracies with a wareable tracker. However, I would hope it could distinguish between being awake and being in deep sleep..Version: 3.9.77

I regret paying for this 😒Does not accurately read sleep cycles. Realized this when the “sleep aid” sounds kept shutting off thinking I was asleep when I was definitely wide awake. Also apparently it read me as in “light sleep cycle” when I was actually scrolling through instagram in bed. 80% of the alarm sounds are just terrible sudden blares of synthesizer. Nothing like waking up to a sudden jolt in the morning. A few are ok but I’d expect more for paying $5 to choose from 20 total alarms, of which maybe four or five don’t sound like 2000s cell phone ringtones. The “shake” to turn off alarm function still won’t work even though I switched it from “hold to shut off” several days ago. Most of the sleep aid sound affects (of which there are only 11 to choose from) are harsh and artificial and not soothing at all. The rare music that actually worked for me kept waking me up bc it didn’t do an actual loop; just cuts off suddenly and comes blaring back in again. I had finally settled on the rain sound effect until I realized part of its cycle is to randomly increase in volume just when I’m finally getting sleepy, and now I’m wide awake again. The “fireplace” sound effect sounds more like a burning building. The “waves” sound is less the ocean and more a bathtub. And seriously who wants to go to sleep to the sound of a hair dryer???.Version: 3.3.4

Sleep app - good..but not all features are not availableThe sleep app concept is really good and I very much have enjoyed using it. However, I will not continue to use it, as most important features only work if you have bought the app. For a free app it’s disappointing to be constantly reminded to buy the app.. what’s the point in making a free version, if you can’t use it for more than the basic feature.. without buying the app you can’t even go back to view your sleep history. It basically becomes a glorified alarm system that allows you to view how you slept just once in the morning..Version: 3.7.1

No longer records sound from your watchHad been really enjoying this app for my watch until recent apple upgrade which is no longer compatible for sound recording from my watch. The solution is to keep my phone on and unlocked all night which I don’t want to do as I bought this app to use on my watch not my phone. I’ve also noticed my sleep patterns that are recorded are much different now that there is no sound recorded and are no longer as accurate. Have kept using the app for a while since this change but am no longer finding any value without accurate data.Version: 3.9.3

Terrible customer serviceYour customer service is horrible. Says it will respond in 24 hours and takes weeks to respond for first time and days in between. They clearly don’t read what you tell them and they repeat all the same steps in hell section even when you tell them YOU'VE DONE ALL THE STEPS NOTHING WORKS. This app is horrible don’t waste your time or money. Customer service is worse than app itself and they refuse to issue refunds even though Apple has stated they will not refund as the app isn’t working due to update..Version: 4.2.8

DisappointedOnly works half the time, not recording sleep data many nights. I’ve tried to reset all permissions, have followed troubleshooting and literally tried everything to fix it and it just doesn’t work properly. I’m so angry I paid $50 for this and I want a refund..Version: 4.0.10

Great app, shame about the sales techniqueI’ve got the free version and been quite impressed with the data it collects and it’s been pretty accurate with the times I go to bed etc. What I don’t like is the way it doesn’t let you look back at previous days data, a pop up comes up wanting you to upgrade to premium and then takes you back to the current day when you close it. I get that they are trying to make money but I think the features of the pro version are good enough to justify upgrading without having to almost force you to because in my opinion if you can’t compare your days with each other it’s soon forgotten so a little useless. There may be another way to view the data but haven’t discovered it yet..Version: 3.7.2

MehI always wear my watch when sleeping but it only occasionally records data. If you go in to edit the time period because it didn’t record quite right it doesn’t like to save so edit feature seems pointless.Version: 3.9.67

Latest update doesn't work with Apple Watch anymoreThings were working fine until this update. Now app just spins on Apple Watch and won't open. Tried uninstalling and re-installing but still no luck..Version: 3.2.5

Clunky don’t botherI purchased the full version, and would not recommend it there is no or poor communication with my watch and iPhone it does not work on the watch alone and you have to go back and forth just to get the dam thing to start with the software saying that you need to open it on your phone then once it’s up and running you check your watch to see that it’s not running so you go through the process again only to find that pillow is currently already running on your phone would you like to stop it and start again it’s at this point they finally sync. Poorly written expensive software don’t bother..Version: 3.3.6

Crashes all the timeI love this app and have been using it solidly for at least 4 years. I recently added the premium subscription and ever since then, if anything happens to my phone in the night, the app crashes, doesn’t record any data and my alarm turns off. This can be anything from me quickly checking notifications to phone back ups and upgrades which happen in the night. With the legacy version, if I couldn’t sleep, I could just check socials and the app would keep on trucking. It also seemed like the legacy version locked the phone in a way that prevented back ups or upgrades. That was minorly annoying but I reset back up and upgrade schedules accordingly. It’s most frustrating to have it crash randomly when the phone backs up. I’ve started using thr Apple native alarm clock as a back up which kind of defeats the purpose but I can’t risk not having an alarm. The legacy version was far more robust. Do you have any tips to keep this from happening? Even pausing the sleep tracking doesn’t work. I need to turn off tracking, check things and then turn it back on to avoid losing data. Thank you..Version: 4.18

TrackingI’m frustrated with this app!! It’s very inconsistent. Sometimes it tracks my sleep and sometimes it doesn’t. Last night it red “not enough data” don’t get this app. I’m currently looking for another app. I received your response! I’ve done all of what your suggestions way before writing the review on Wednesday. I’m sure it’s hard to admit your app just isn’t as great as you think. I would highly suggest not downloading this app. I’m deleting it..Version: 4.2.3

Doesn’t work... and it’s not freeI have zero issues with paying for apps but I believe in transparency. Thus is not a free app, it’s a 1 week trial and then it’s $40 a year I’ve had it for 4 days and it has not logged even one of my sleeps. It states all you have to do is wear your watch and the app will do the rest ... nope not one sleep logged. I was very optimistic when I read the other reviews and all if the awards but now I’m just irritated..Version: 4.1.2

Since v.3.5 App is no longer working properly*** updated with dev’s response*** Since the release of v3.5, the App does not sync between the watch and the phone so you can't save data, and worse: the data are completely wrong! Why change something that worked pretty well to a totally useless app? And I paid for the Premium option (£4.99)! The dev who was contacted has not fixxed the issues, but instead claims that the 'AI' need some time to adjust the data. After a couple of weeks, clearly it's an 'Artificial Stupidity' not an 'AI'. Very disappointed. You've let your customers down! Refund requested and the Dev has even supported that request, confirming that it has failed to provide any solution to fix the issue. *** The Dev responded to my complaint: “Syncing issues between the Apple Watch and the iPhone can be caused but are largely beyond our control due to the way wathOS works. The issue is easily resolved by restarting your devices” This is NOT the case! I’ve already told them many times that I’ve restarted the devices and it still doesn’t work Furthermore, the update they’ve released last week has NOT solved anything either. And so according to their response, it is Apple’s fault anyway, due to sync issues between the watch and the iPhone... Really???.Version: 3.5.4

Ok but confused...Seems like a great app so far. The analysis is (potentially) useful but.... I have a habit of waking right up in the night and can’t get back to sleep without a mild sleep aid... so at, say, 3am I wake up, get up, walk around to find and take sleep aid, maybe go to the toilet and get back in bed.... wait to fall asleep, which may take 30-60mins. Pillow tracks this as variations of light/rem/deep sleep. That is to say there is not discernible difference in the data for that time I’ve not been sleeping versus time I was sleeping. Confusing....Version: 3.7.6

Used to be my app of choice. This used to be my app of choice and I paid for premium for two years. But recently the accuracy has nose-dived. I decided to not renew premium until I felt it was back on track, even though I had tried retraining the ai multiple times. Although last night, it recorded I fell asleep over 4 HOURS before I actually went to sleep. Not a big deal, I was laying in bed playing Xbox… I thought I would simply edit the entry to reflect the time I actually went to sleep. Wrong. Editing sleep times is a premium feature??? Why bother. I’m not paying over $40 a year to tell you what time I went to sleep thanks. Sad to say you’ve lost my business and I will no longer recommend this app..Version: 4.17.2

Highly inaccurate. Won’t be renewing subscription.Bought this as it was meant to be more accurate than the sleep tracker in Health/Watch, but it often doesn’t even register that I’m in bed when I’m actually asleep with a very low heart rate. I’m not sure how it decides what constitutes sleep but I won’t be renewing..Version: 4.4.10

An affordable app that requires disciplineI used the full version of the app for 4 months. Overall, the app does what it claims to do, but I got to stop using it because of multiple ”features” that I found annoying: - No automatic start/stop of the tracking. I used to have Fitbit before, and this feature worked perfectly fine for me. I did not have to worry to enable the tracking in the evening and disable it in the morning. With this app, I had cases when I forgot to disable monitoring after waking app, and it continued to record ”sleeping” time. Then I had to modify/delete such fake cycles manually from the phone. - Communication between the phone app and the watches has a lot of room for improvement. Sometimes, I struggled with changing tracking options. When I turned them on the phone, they were overwritten by the watches settings. Honestly saying, I did not manage to find an algorithm that works 100% of the time. Each time I had to double check the settings, sometimes stopping the current cycle and starting a new one. So, using the app requires some discipline, as managing your sleeping cycle does :) Otherwise, you might get an unexpected experience..Version: 3.5.7

Bring back my shuffled alarms!I only paid for this app because it would play a new alarm every time i snoozed… it was the only way i was able to wake up and since they took it away i haven’t gotten a single update that makes me want to use the app again. please just fix this one thing i beg you, i wish i never bought !!.Version: 4.18.7

1 starI’ve had this app for over 3 years now all paid for and at the start it was working ok a year Went by and it started not working properly not recording kept update on it than a year after all the times wrong with going to sleep apparently saying I’ve done four hours because I’ve got other apps of sleeping ones that are telling me totally different ones that are more accurate for the feel of it i’m pretty disappointed in it because I paid this is the only Apple paid for and that’s not correct doesn’t pick up the right time for me to go to bed and the times that I wake up The app owners and we creators need to go through it and fix it.Version: 4.0.11

Not accurate.Don't waste your money on this app. It's a scam. Does not work..Version: 3.2.5

New update brought bad experienceI’ve been using Pillow for almost 3 years now and have been very satisfied. I appreciate a new update along with a bunch of new features and design was necessary. I can also get used to the fact that the stats, comparisons and history became such content that I need to pay for going forward. I chose the trial option just to have a feel. And how grateful I did so! Ever since the new update the automatic sleep detection is truly off. First I thought it was a one off thing, since it used to happen every so often but due to some issues with my watch. But now it’s every night! My sleep time is being curbed with at least an hour in the evening and 20-50 mins in the morning. Therefore the stats can’t be correct either. I never used to have issues like this, in fact the tracking was 95% accurate or it could be fixed manually. I’m really disappointed and considering to find another app..Version: 4.0.3

Two Flaws, one FatalHave used this App for a few years, and it has such potential. But a couple of major issues make it too unreliable. Minor one: you can’t simply, while wearing an Apple Watch, start a nap session. It ALLWAYS asks to connect to the phone via Bluetooth, despite it already being connected. Irritating. You then have to start and stop a session on the phone to get one started on the watch. Irritating bug. But the fatal flaw is not being able to edit and extend a sleep session, when the auto function gets its wrong. Almost nightly it treats getting up to, say the loo, as awake and sleep finished, and misses the often many hours of sleep that follow. Makes the resulting data worthless! Missed two hours sleep last night. This could be easily remedied by allowing us to edit and extend the sleep period. But that’s not allowed. Significant flaw!.Version: 4.2.3

Very inaccurate!I recently tried the Pillow app to track my sleep, but unfortunately, my experience with it was quite disappointing. Despite having poor sleep, the app kept telling me that I slept well, and when I did sleep well, it recorded that I had slept poorly. I tried looking at different data sources and even used the "re-analyse" feature to try and teach the app, but nothing seemed to work. Even after using the "Reset training" feature, the app continued to mislead me. This caused some problems for me, as I would plan to exercise on days when I thought I had slept well, but in reality, my body was under more stress than I realized. I was determined to find out what the problem was, especially since I had paid for an annual subscription to use the app. After doing some research, I came across a review of the app by "The Quantified Scientist," a Post Doctoral Scientist who specializes in biological data analysis. His review was quite negative, and after my own experience with the app, I believe that the problem lies with the app's poor coding rather than any issues with my devices or installation. I would not recommend using Pillow to track your sleep, as the data it provides is often misleading and unreliable. Save your time and money and look for a more reliable sleep tracking app instead..Version: 4.16

DisappointingI really wanted to love this app but there are a few things that I really can’t get over. As noted on other reviews… it’s not very accurate, which renders the fancy alarm system useless, it records the sound of nothingness, sleep quality percentage seems a bit random. I did notice responses to these reviews saying you can re set up the app in settings which I will try. The thing that bothers me the most about this app, now that I have paid £40 to have it for a year, is that it’s not at all compatible, especially with the Apple Watch, which drives me bonkers. To use it on the watch you need to open it up on your phone then get it up on the app to start the alarm but there’s no short cut to open it on the Apple Watch so sometimes my phone has locked again by the time I’ve got it up on the watch, then it’s a case of unplugging my phone holding to my face to unlock and blah blah blah. I try really hard not to go on any technology before bed because the stimulation keeps me awake and this is what makes me find this app so disappointing. Alongside this issue, the alarm doesn’t go off on the watch, only the phone, but you need to unlock the phone and go onto the app to actually turn off the alarm. I just think that’s terrible for a paid app..Version: 4.2.1

FrustratingI’ve used Pillow in the past and added it to my new phone because I have some sleep disorders and wanted to see how I was sleeping. First of all, it seems less accurate than it did before. The recordings don’t seem to be picking up anything yet I have about 100 of them a session and they’re all dead air. It also logged several periods as “deep sleep” when I was actively awake which was frustrating if you’re using the app to get an accurate picture of what’s happening throughout the night. The bigger issue for me however is that it wants the app to be open while in use- if you’re a tosser & turner, it’s pretty easy to jostle it and switch screens which then makes it nearly impossible to shut the alarm off when it tries to wake you up. After losing sessions because I had to force quit the app to make the awful alarm sound stop I’m deleting the app and trying something else. I can’t imagine paying for this service. There’s no reason that it shouldn’t auto-save throughout the night. The idea that you have to manually go through two screens to log your session is ridiculous! Save yourself the drama of being frustrated as soon as you wake up and try something else..Version: 4.2.1

GratuitéTrès déçu avant la mise à jour tout était gratuit avec cette nouvelle mise à jour il faut payer pour ce qui était gratuit antérieurement.Version: 4.0

Not at all accurateNot accurate at all. Doesn’t record sleep half the time. Not worth it.Version: 4.0.4

Great but annoyingI love this app, it provides accurate and useful information about sleeping habits that I utilise every night. However, this month i purchased premium for the second time and all though the payment was processed, i’m still unable to access any premium features. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled to see if this would fix it, instead i just lost all of my data despite having sync to icloud turned on. i’d like to have this fixed..Version: 3.9.61

I don’t understand all the positive reviews?!I have been using the premium version of Pillow for weeks, with my phone and Apple Watch using manual mode. It is terrible at knowing when I’m awake. It tells me I slept all night, every night, even when I wake up to use the restroom in the middle of the night. If I use the feature which allows me to re-analyze my sleep session to look for more awake time, it just adds more light sleep and still never picks up the fact that I was actually up walking around, wide awake in the middle of the night. It also has had hiccups twice this week in syncing my watches data with my phone so there are two nights for which my phone never got the data from my watch. My optimal sleep time jumps from 9:45 to midnight and back. (Again, I have only been using this app for a couple of weeks so this seems like a terrible algorithm.) And all of this is especially weird considering I have very regular sleep patterns. I go to sleep and wake up around the same time every day, sleep a solid 8 hours per night, (in bed about 8.5), and rarely get up or even wake up in the middle of the night - like maybe once per week. I’m going to switch to automatic mode for a while and see how we do but I wish I didn’t spend money on this..Version: 3.8.1

Very disappointed with latest updatesI have series 4 watch and iPhone X and from the later updates it now won’t allow the watch to work unless it has more than 80% battery life which now forces me to have to charge it every night before sleep so it will read my sleep so now going from getting 2 days out of my battery to having to charge daily is ridiculous especially since it would always last all night with as little charge as 30% and plenty left over. It’s ruining the battery life. And as for my phone which reads no data as it now has to sit in charger every night as the app drains the battery. I can have over 50% and it’s dead in 4hours. It reads nothing as it sits on bedside table as I use sleep apnoea machine so it doesn’t read sound so I don’t know why all of a sudden it’s draining the battery. So going from charging every 2nd day for both. Now everyday and neither gets to run down the battery before getting charged up so the app will work and The Watch won’t wake me up anymore if the phone dies. Very disappointed may have to delete app if you don’t fix this..Version: 3.7.1

Occasionally buggy with watch useCan’t find bug reporting on the website so I’m putting it here. I monitor my sleep as getting a minimum amount helps regulate my blood pressure. Most of the time it works as intended, and I’m happy with the results I see and the audio picks up shuffling and snoring quite well. I use the Apple watch s3 and IPhone X with the sleep app. If my Watch is charging overnight I will use the phone under my pillow on airplane mode. Cool so far. I have switched off the smart wake up and always set the alarm the night before either on my watch or on the phone, since they are in sync it shouldn’t matter. However occasionally when I set the time and press start on the watch, the alarm time is wrong - usually less time than I set. I’ve seen this a few times so I expect it every now and then. As a result, every time I press start I will make sure to check the time is correct, and if it isn’t then I simply reset the alarm and restart the session. But last night was the last straw. Please devs tell me why when I set the alarm for 05:30 that the alarm goes off at 02:30? How does the phone change from 6.9 hours sleep to 3.9 hours? As I said, smart Wake up is off. Am I the only one getting these strange discrepancies? Is it something to do with the watch?.Version: 3.9.73

Don’t understand the high ratingThis app seemed to work well when I first downloaded it but for the past week it has not been accurately recording my sleep. It shows around 2 to 3 hours of sleep and I know I slept way more than that. Not impressed with the performance at all. Certainly not worth the annual subscription fee!!! Update September 9: Twice in the past week the app has not collected any sleep data at all. No idea why but there is zero information for the precious night’s sleep. The nights it did collect data, it showed I only slept for an hour or 2. Not worth the money. Update December 7: app frequently says I fell asleep in a very short time when in reality I was laying in bed awake for 30 minutes up to an hour. Not accurate at all. Would be nice to have an app that is actually accurate. Makes me question the accuracy of all the data the app tracks..Version: 4.12.5

Great until it wasn’tWhen I first got this app it was great. I was so happy to find a sleep tracking app that worked with Apple Watch and didn’t force you to pay just to track your sleep. The automatic sleep detection was absolutely awesome. I loved the interface. It was annoying how you had to buy the premium version to see your past sleep data, but not a deal breaker. But then one day the automatic sleep detection stopped working. I would wake up and eagerly check the Pillow app only to see that it didn’t collect any data. I thought it might be a problem with my Apple Watch so I went through all of the steps to make sure it was detecting my heart rate, had permission to collect data, etc. none of that worked. I turned off automatic sleep detection mode and put it to manual. And it worked! But as I was checking my sleep data in the morning I got a low battery alert on my phone. My phone that had been at 100% 7 hours before was now at 14% without me using it. I also quit all of my apps before going to bed. This also happened the next few nights I used manual mode. I can’t help but to think that that is the cause of the power drain. I don’t have a place to plug my phone in overnight where my phone can still be in range of my watch, so this is a problem for me. I’m going to try turning automatic sleep detection back on tonight to see if it detects anything/if it was just a glitch. Aside from that, the app is really great and I would really like to keep using it..Version: 3.9.76

Doesn’t accurately track sleepWill say I slept 2-3 hours when I sleep more than 6.. inaccurate about 60% of the time. Waste of money for an app.Version: 4.15

Premium version not working with Apple WatchFor the past month or so I have had 3-4 days that have no registered sleep data whilst wearing Apple Watch, whilst data is registered on Health app on iPhone. Tried all tips and suggestions from Pillow help desk - turn off and on permissions on iPhone, ensured to install the latest iOS version for Watch and iPhone, restarted iPhone, checked all permissions were on…I have Pillow set up automatically to detect sleep session when wearing Apple Watch and is a hit and miss at the moment …worst for me is that when sleep is not detected by Pillow, it doesn’t allow me to add a sleep session manually to ensure my sleeping trends and stats are correctly….Version: 4.14.1

Info only available for 24 hoursYou have to save your data from each day because when you go back to see the day before‘s data Premium advertising pops up and you can’t access it. The app I downloaded was free, I should be able to access the free information. It would be good to know it cost to use it before downloading. Free means you don’t have to pay, but this app records your sleep then you have to pay to hear the recordings. Deceitful at best. I don’t mind paying for something if I know what I’m paying for in advance. There are cheaper, better apps out there. At least allow us to access the sleep info from previous days without having to pay! I would have considered buying the app but because of this I won’t. There is a whole lot more information kept from me because I haven’t purchased the app. It’s petty to keep me from accessing the information that is available after 24 hours. Free up the free data and people might just pay to purchase the full app. Be up front about what’s available and what’s not. Tell people that their information is only available for 24 hours..Version: 3.7.2

Not accurateUsing with Apple Watch - didn’t find it that accurate at all. I know I was up and awake a few times but thinks I slept a solid 9 hours. It’s a shame as the design is good!.Version: 3.7.3

App works well but sleeping with your phone beside your head??We are all aware of EMF and its dangers, and mobiles phones and their radiation are know to be a big offender. EMF is also known to disrupt sleep so this APP could increase sleep issues. I have tried leaving my phone on the bedside table but the app doesn’t work properly not on the bed. I persevered and after the update it’s showing period of awaking during the night that aren’t happening. I received a response from the developer who suggested Turing on DND. night mode ect. However the fact is the phone charger produces the EMF and readings above 250 v/m are recorded. The recommendations for EMF in your bed are 0. The maximum safe level is 40 v/m..Version: 3.7.6

Inconsistent alarmAlarm keeps going off on my phone rather than watch but doesn’t come up with a notification so when you’ve just woken up can be very confusing to figure out what’s going off.Version: 3.7.3

“Lifetime” PremiumDon’t buy “lifetime” premium. They’ll just add new features and make you pay for it all over again..Version: 4.18.5

What was free us now considered “Premium features”They took away most of the free features with an update this week. Now they want a monthly fee for stuff that was free before. *Their reply said “for the 1st time you can see your previous sleep sessions” but that was the feature I used the most that is no longer there when I swipe. There is also a calendar that I also used before, and when you press the sleep session on a different date, it pops up a thing about the cost of an upgrade instead of the previous sleep session! It also does not show the overlaid heart rate over the course of the night which was the other feature I used the most.* They took away most of the things I liked about it and I’m not paying a premium for what I’ve had for free for years because it’s not really that accurate anyway. It thinks I’m asleep when I’m just watching tv and it can’t detect that I woke up in the middle of the night if I lay still and don’t move around a lot. It’s just an algorithm that’s giving you the REM, light, and deep sleep cycles, these apps don’t have the data to detect that kind of stuff for real like in a sleep lab. *I took it down another star because of the developers reply that they added all these features in the free version. It doesn’t look that way to me. They ruined the free version.*.Version: 4.0

Waste of moneyPillow seemed to work ok for a while but suddenly stopped accurately recording my sleep on my iPhone 7. On average I go to sleep at circa 22:00 and wake up at 05:50. Pillow indicates the correct go to sleep time but the incorrect wake time. Shows me walking up between 00:12 and 03:40 ish. I did log a request with Pillow but have had no response..Version: 3.8

Doesn’t work very wellI have a newborn who is up a lot during the night to feed. I used this app for a week free trial and it only tracked my sleep part of the night. Sometimes it would say I only slept for an hour or so. If it’s not going to recognize when I am asleep and when I am awake through the night, it’s definitely not worth paying for..Version: 4.0.9

Cancelled AppSeriously unhelpful set up process. Counterintuitive operation as well. I found it awkward and gave up on it. You may have better luck. Definitely not for me. Too many things to approve and accept. It was my fault that ITV failed to record anything without manual activation. I am not very patient with apps where it is not immediately obvious what to do. I found the Pillow app too difficult to set up, so I cancelled my subscription and found an alternative called AutoSleep which I actually found easy to set up and worked just fine (it was also cheaper). Different apps suit different people, I guess..Version: 4.0.9

😐I find this app does not work very well. Example if I wake up at midnight get up make a hot drink etc... go back to bed at 2am. It tell me I’m asleep and have been in bed when clearly you can see movement by high heart rate etc. it also tell me I’m sleeping when I’m watching a movie or reading a book..Version: 3.7.6

Utterly disappointingTL:DR Almost everything you want is locked behind premium subscription, is no longer a one time purchase, don’t bother even trialing this app Wanting to track my sleep this seemed like a good app given the reviews, I was aware that it had a paid premium version that would alllow access to full functionality, and seeing some of the developer responses I noted that premium was (supposedly) a one time purchase which would have been nice. Installed the app figured I’d give it a go for a few days before deciding on the premium or not. Unfortunately even the most basic functionality such as looking at the previous days sleep is now locked behind premium and that is now subscription not one time purchase. There is a 7 day trial but then if you don’t like it you have to mess about cancelling the subscription, risk payments been taking regardless (I’ve not had a good previous experience with any subscription service). Utter waste of time..Version: 3.9.2

Doesn’t work as expectedHave tried to but it doesn’t do the automatic tracking- I have to set manually into sleep otherwise I wake up and it hasn’t tracked anything. I’ve searched and searched instructions which seem to say I should just be able to go to sleep and it can detect. Seems to be reliant on my iPhone? That’s not the vibe I get from all the advertisements of the app yet mine only works if I have it open on my iPhone. Also the sleep cycle tracking seems pretty poor compared to all the pictures- I just get an entire block of REM sleep so that’s not helpful. All I wanted was something like my old Fitbit where I wear it, go to sleep and wake up with a cyclical map of light, deep, REM sleep and awake periods. This doesn’t seem to be it..Version: 4.0.9

No longer usefulAs someone who used the free version, this app used to be great and I often thought that if I had the money it’d be helpful to purchase the subscription. Recent updates have removed all the usefulness, however. The app no longer tracks my sleep cycles accurately, instead appearing to revert to a pre-programmed pattern. It no longer detects when I wake up or even get up during the night. I can no longer edit sessions or even set a range for my alarm. Don’t bother downloading unless you intend to drop at least $50 on subscription fees straight away, it is now worthless as a free app..Version: 4.12.5

Only okay; inaccurateThe first few nights I used this app, it seemed to hit the nail on the head in terms of sleep. So much so that I felt it was the best app I had ever used to track my sleep. However, then I realized it can’t sense ANYTHING without wearing my watch, which I sometimes have to charge at night due to tracking activities and important reminders during the day. So that’s the biggest thing that should be fixed, right up there with it’s accuracy. The second week I used it, I noticed that it couldn’t really accurately guess when I was asleep because it was missing entire chunks, saying that while I was in bed for 2 hours I was only asleep for 30 minutes...which isn’t true. It seems to have A LOT of trouble distinguishing between light sleep and awake because it thinks I’m awake for a large chunk of time at the beginning of my time in bed (when I’m transitioning into deeper sleep) and at the end (when I’m coming out of deeper sleep). All in all, it mostly works, but if the premium version isn’t any better, no one should pay for this app. I shall continue my search..Version: 3.7.2

Subscription naggingThis is an alarm clock that really wants you to pay a monthly subscription to use basic features. And it will remind you to subscribe over and over again. It also lacks the ability to see your 7-day deficit which is kind of the point. Deleted after a night.Version: 3.9.73

Completely inaccurateI bought the premium version of this app a week ago, and I am utterly disappointed. Every night it has been completely wrong. I get up throughout the night - to go to the bathroom, or to get a glass of water - and it never recognises that I’ve woken up. In the morning, the report says I slept for 8 hours straight. It’s a great concept, but paying for this app was a complete waste of money. Edit: the developer response is not helpful. Your response indicates that pillow is not recording, however as I stated, I have a full sleep report every morning. The problem is that the sleep reports are wrong - they do not show when I woke up in the middle of the night for half an hour, or if I wake up but stay in bed, it thinks I have been asleep the whole time. The accuracy is completely unreliable, and instead it shows that I slept for 8 hours straight. Judging by the comments, I’m not the only one concerned about the lack of accuracy, but you could at least read my comment fully before providing a templates response that fails to address the stated issue..Version: 3.7.5

I was lucky!I was lucky to buy this app before it turned into a subscription model. May I take this opportunity to let you guys know that the only reason I bought and have this app installed was because it was a one time fee and not subscription based like your other greedy competitors. I don’t think I need to remind you that it’s just a matter of time until Apple themselves deliver full sleep tracking natively and nobody requires this app any longer. I hope you guys considered this carefully, as a modest income from your long-standing supporters is better than a short lived payday. I wish you all the best but phew! I still have my money. Update: it looks like you tried to cover up the recent changes in the appstore “version history” too with that new/sneaky text formatting (never used before) burying the new “features” and keeping them out of sight..Version: 3.9.1

Too many glitches.I did sign up for the free trial to see how it would work… Unfortunately not well. Even though it records sound, the categories it selects - even though the sound is Obviously not snoring or other - are wrong. If I try and send the developers the correct category, it only lets you select “snoring” from the list.. which actually isn’t “helpful” for the developer. The only thing it helped was about how many hours my sleep cycles were - but I don’t know if those are even correct….Version: 4.16

Thumbs down for new graphToo hard to read! Columns may look ordinary, but it’s easy for our eyes to digest. The squiggly line with its abundance of curves make it hard to compare the data across a sleep cycle. Please change it back.Version: 4.12.2

TiredFeatures appear great but can’t record basics on iPhone 11 and Apple Watch S5. After trying for 5 days, best messages read “not enough data”. Loaded this app because of sleep issues and think trying to get it to work hasn’t helped with problem. At the time of this submission (and before app deletion) all permissions were granted on all devices..Version: 3.9.76

Non existent supportThis would probably be a good program if there was adequate support when problems arise. I founded that reporting was very inaccurate and there was no pattern to it either. Sometimes it would register as asleep when I was awake and at other times the opposite. I was up and walking to the bathroom at one point but according to pillow I was asleep! I followed instructions and rest the ai to start training fresh. I did this twice and the problem persisted so I contacted the help desk. The response, reset the training. I explained that I had already done this and they then requested a diagnostics report. After receiving that they repeated that I was to reset the training. I queried what use this would be when I had already done so. Their response, it might work this time! What a waste of money. So now I have a response and guess what the link tells me to do, exactly what I have already done, including reset the training! No thanks, I have a better sleep program that I was using alongside yours. That one gives me accurate results..Version: 4.1

Does okayUpdate:still having a lot of trouble with it accurately tracking my sleep and awake. Last night, it showed I was awake most of the early AM and I wasn’t. I went to sleep about 11:10pm and woke up about 2am. It showed I was awake most of 12-2am. Very frustrating. My sleep quality percentage is TERRIBLE because it’s not accurate. I usually have to add at least an hour onto what the sleep amount is because it has me awake when I’m not, but when I can’t edit it’s errors, I can’t fix it. Should also have an option to add nights that I forget to turn it on. My old tracker would pick up on sleep hours without having to turn it on. Could set a normal sleep time and it would notice when you were sleeping so you didn’t have to remember to turn it on every night. It was a nice feature. Original: I’ve given it a lot of try but in the past few months I feel it’s started to go downhill. It gets my sleep well but sometimes it says I’ve been up for an extended period of time overnight and I wasn’t. I also have A LOT of trouble syncing if I don’t use the alarm. It gets to 98% and fails almost every weekend when I don’t use the alarm mode. Otherwise it’s a good app, but those are major issues that need repaired..Version: 3.5.8

Post iOS 16My iPhone 14 pro max reports me as sleeping when I’m actually awake during nighttime and daytime. Through 3 football games today and I watched every minute of every game, yet pillow showed me sleeping a couple of times. My sedentary heart beat ranges from 47 to 55 and pillow must be interpreting this as sleep. Prior to iOS 16, this was not a problem. It also is connected to my Apple Watch. This continues to be a problem as well as the fact that it shows me sleeping while driving a car. This app no longer works for me the way it did before iOS 16. I’m considering deleting it and searching for a more reliable app. Update: it no longer has me asleep while driving my car! It continues to show me as sleeping while I’m actually reading. Last night I got up to go to the bathroom, 3 1/2 hour later I got up to go to the bathroom. It has no record of me being asleep for those 3 1/2 hours between bathroom trips. I think anyone who has a slow heartbeat while seated will be disappointed with this app. I don’t know why I don’t just delete it and move on?? I’ve another sleep app that gets when I’m awake and when I’m asleep, so I know it’s possible to accurately record the sleeping time. It, however, gives conflicting degrees of quality of sleep as compared to Pillow..Version: 4.17.9

Not AccurateIve been using this app for a few months now and I was genuinely enjoying how easy it was to use. However when it hasn’t accurately tracked my sleep and I want to modify the data, it won’t allow me to. I know for a fact I was awake at 5.30 this morning but there’s no way to manually add that in to the sleep?? I’ve realised over the last few weeks that it isn’t as accurate as I assumed it was, so I’ve decided to stop using this app. It’s not worth the money either..Version: 4.1.2

Inaccurate sleep recording and lack of in-app supportAs someone who doesn’t sleep that well, it’s frustrating to fall asleep at 10pm and find that the sleep app started recording the session at 2am. The app has one job and for me, night after night it fails miserably. I downloaded another app and was relieved to find a massive discrepancy meaning I was actually getting at 6 hours per night rather than pillow’s reported 2.5 hours Writing this review here rather than contacting pillow because I can’t find a way to contact support about the issue in the app. Lack of support and inaccurate reading with the latest Apple Watch. Don’t waste your money...Version: 4.2

Purchased full version but.....I liked the app so I thought I’d buy the full version for the sole purpose of the voice recording because I talk in my sleep and thought it would be interesting to hear myself. Only problem is, in automatic mode, sounds don’t get recorded, which makes things very difficult for me. Basically automatic mode, will tell when you fall asleep on its own and when you wake up. But in order to record, automatic mode must be turned off, which means I have to manually go onto the app and tell them I’m going to sleep and then go back on the app when I wake up. This is such a pain as a lot of the time I will just fall asleep randomly and I won’t go on my phone directly after waking up. I’m hoping the developers can update this app so that if my Apple Watch can detect I’m sleeping, then it will also record audio, as it’s what I paid for. Please developers, make audio recording happen when in automatic mode, please and thank you..Version: 3.7.2

Didn’t really workThe app kept saying that I wasn’t connected to the internet when I was and tried on multiple internet sources. So this meant I couldn’t access any of the data recorded by the app so essentially it just became a battery draining alarm clock with calming music.Version: 4.0.9

Great but no historyThe data and the way it is displayed is great, however when you swipe to look at history a pop up for going premium appears that blocks the entire screen, on closing the pop up you are taken back to the original screen immediately, making viewing of history and sleep lab near impossible. Annoying..Version: 3.3.6

Has been good until...Has been a good app until about 2 weeks ago where it now isn’t recording the times correctly.Version: 3.9.92

Gets embarrassingly inaccurate with ageAfter more than four years of use, I’ve uninstalled this app as its inaccuracy has got to the stage of ‘might as well just guess’. For the first couple of years it gave fairly accurate results, but in the last year it’s become totally untrustworthy (and yes, it was correctly hooked-up to the iOS Health monitoring suite, it’s left charging on the bed next to my pillow, so it should be able to hear and feel every noise and movement). When I first got pillow, it would note if I woke in the night to answer the call of nature or get a glass of water. Now, I can wake up several times, get up to use bathroom, make a hot drink, sit up and read awhile; and according to pillow I’ve slept through it all without stirring. It doesn’t even notice me picking up and using the phone it’s monitoring me from! On a few occasions I’ve woke before my Pillow alarm, picked up my phone, made a cup of tea and an early breakfast, wandered the garden listening to the dawn chorus whilst checking mail etc. Pillow’s alarm eventually goes off, I stop it and check status, to find Pillow absolutely swears I’ve been tucked up in bed asleep the whole time; right up until the alarm activated! Pointless updates (mainly for the sake of adding extras you have to pay more for: that were not included in the original price for full version, i.e. greed) have ruined this app..Version: 4.17.10

Using extensive iPhone batteryUPDATE#2- I appreciate the developers response and will try again with their suggestions. UPDATE #1- I have disabled this app. After following the developer’s suggestions, the app became inconsistent. It stopped showing night wake times and gave me the exact same reading for multiple consecutive days. Loved the app when I first used it. Now…not so much. I can get the same information excluding night wake up information from my Sleep app included with my Apple watch. ——- Original post- After spending 2 hours with Apple support only to have them recommend talking to the developers (I have and none of my messages have been seen or answered.) The problem is my 10 XR running IOS 15.1 phone battery usage. When I use my Apple Watch 6 running IOS 8.1, it shows battery usage between 63-74% in the morning with 6+ hours of onscreen usage. When I use my Apple Watch 3 running IOS 7.6.1, it uses 3%. Both are in manual mode. The pillow app is set to turn off the screen after 10 seconds. Apple support ran diagnostics and battery health and phone are fine. The only thing he thought could be causing the problem was that Pillow was not truly turning the screen off or putting it into lock screen. I have tried every fix to be found in the Apple Support and online communities with no success. I don’t want to have to use my older watch just to save my phone battery. Very frustrating!.Version: 4.17.7

Is there something wrong with the new update?I’ve been using the app for 4 years, and was really happy when it was recognised that I’ve already paid for the one off premium in this new model. However it’s now two nights in a row where I’ve set the alarm but it didn’t go off and thus no sleep session was taken ? With the old version the alarm keeps going off unless you stop it meaning this never happened. I’ve been fiddling around with the settings and I can’t get it to work anymore — will there be a bug fix for this?.Version: 4.0

Good idea but inaccurate results until…..I used this app quite some time ago and it seemed to work fine, then I stopped. Recently I decided to start using the app again. I first tried automatic detection and that didn’t work well. I had to constantly adjust my sleep hours. Then I decided to manually start a sleep session. The app does track my sleep, however it is not accurate. Last night, for example, it registered no REM sleep but had me awake for most of the night. I definitely slept through the entire night. It’s as though the slightest movement registers as awake. Of course, this skews the entire sleep quality reported. UPDATE: I decided to completely delete all of the sleep data and try starting again fresh. Using it now for the last 3 days and the sleep analysis seems to be more like what I would have expected. It now tracks all of the sleep hours without me having to edit anything, and the awake hours are now in line with what I expected. Although I have no idea why deleting everything seemed to fix it, I’m happy to see it working again..Version: 4.18.5

?????The app is nice but don’t do nothing more like others app where not need to pay 5£ for month? Why to use all the features of this app I have to pay every month???? There is a lot person to check when I go to sleep and to check when I wake up? I think no and why asking a subscription???? You have one less customer for that reason. I can understand you work hard for the app but to ask a subscription instead to pay one time is too much. the information is the same as other applications so I don't see it essential to pay this app monthly just for the beautiful graphics. After the developer answer: I understand your point of view about but the local money here is 5£ and I think is too much for month. I think you can have more subscription if the cost of the app is less because if you watch on Apple store you can find similar app ( doing the same things of you ) and no need a “ expensive subscription “ but just need to pay on time to have the same features but all that I wrote is my thought and the app is nice and I hope for you to have a lot of subscription. 🙋🏻‍♂️.Version: 4.1

Unreliable...I’ve enabled automatic tracking on my watch, and just looked at the app on my phone, and there was no data. You seemingly have to click on each individual date to get it to load from watch to phone. I went into my watch app and found a ‘sync to phone’ option in the settings menu, but it did nothing. But the worst part is, even when I did upload the data from my watch to my phone, it is far from reliable. It says I was in bed asleep all night... when I was on a night shift - in fact most of my night shifts it says the same. It therefore feels like the data is just made up sadly. Disappointing. EDIT: Developer ‘response’ is crappy. Generic copy and paste reply. ‘Device placement’ comment is rubbish - I wear an Apple Watch. I completed the ‘training’ several times - but I have no idea when I’m asleep at night because I’m asleep. I only know when I’m awake! But I do know that I don’t fall asleep the very second I get into bed - which is what the app tells me!.Version: 3.9.79

Hard to Activate and Not worth itI tried to use it with an Apple watch, but most of my logs had not synced to my iPhone. It doesn't translate properly into the Health app. I still don't get ANY data, even after a watch upgrade. I tried repeatedly to use my watch to monitor movements, but the information was vague and not as specific as promised. I wish there had been an actual instruction page on the web that was more explanatory. I want to know my movement influences on my sleep and my heart rates during sleep. Hopefully there can be more improvements for use with the watch. I never used that little battery power on my watch or phone when using this app, maybe 20% for both. Now that the app has additional perks, I really feel screwed over since I purchased this app almost 5 yrs. ago. I should have been grandfathered in, since I had the faith in it much earlier and my purchase, I feel, was an inspiration to improve it and the cost I paid was encouragement for more features. I will start using a free sleep app and now the sleep app that comes with my watch. The subscription cost is not fair and doesn’t guarantee that the data will be logged as advertised..Version: 4.8.1

A little concernedRecently download this app and it was on my phone unopened for about 4 days before i got around to using it. However upon opening it for the first time, i found that it had already been tracking my sleep, despite not having opened it, nor given it any permissions to do or access anything on my phone. So how was it tracking my sleep without having been opened nor given permission to do or access anything and if it’s doing that, then what else is it doing on my phone without my knowledge..Version: 4.6.2

Design issuesThe latest version of the app has a new design issue. When you re-analyse sleep to change proportion of awake time, the pop-up conceals the analysis so you can’t see if it is more accurate or not..Version: 4.0

SleepI downloaded this on a 7 day free trail, I was going to pay for a years subscription, as I needed something to monitor my sleep also it says monitors heart rate also. I did everything as explained. I put my phone under the pillow as suggested if you do nog have a I watch. Well that’s something I do not have or want. So reading it was necessary to have the watch, I thought great. First night no data. No sleep data at all, so very very disappointed. I was going to literally cancel and uninstall. However I am going to persevere for another couple of nights just in case I may have done something wrong. I am going to look and see again exactly what I should do. Although I know for a fact I did do it correctly the first time. I will update my review in a day of so ONLY IF IT WORKS, IF IT DOES WORK I WILL KEEP IT. Ps anyone who is going to subscribe to this app, you are better off paying the year subscription rather than monthly. If you pay for a year at a time it works out so much cheaper..Version: 4.5.1

Have to pay to do anything since the last update.Only had to pay for premium features, now have to pay for everything except the wake up alarm.Version: 4.0

!!I had the app before it it became a paid subscription. And I remember it saying that I didn’t need to pay for the subscription because I’ve been a member from before and now it’s says I have to pay for the subscription. This was one of the best apps ever made and ever since it went on to become a subscription It ruined everything even the layout and all that too much information it was simple and perfect before. it help me as I have an acquired brain injury and now I’m shattered because I have to find something that I can afford.Version: 4.8

PriceyI like the app but won’t purchase considering it lacks auto-detect and requires set procedure prior to sleep for syncing Apple Watch data to iPhone... The free version is limited in information and the “upgrade now” shows if you turn phone or swipe to another sleep chart; you are limited to the sleep chart of the day and no more unless you pay. It doesn’t automatically detect sleep like less expensive apps for tracking sleep. Learned I must have the app open on my phone (which is only place to set alarm) then press Start on Apple Watch if I want to use watch features to track sleep AND have information transfer to phone (where it’s easier to read the data) after I physically stop the session. Graphs are easy to follow and like that. Summary: free version only shows the last session, must manually start/stop sleep sessions (which may be beneficial for overall tracking if I have to get up in middle of the night for something then go back to bed), syncing Apple Watch and iPhone requires specific steps prior to sleep, ~40% more expensive than other apps that auto-detect sleep and effortlessly sync Apple Watch with iPhone..Version: 3.5.2

Utter disappointment.I’ve tried this app a few times now, and every time I went into it optimistic but i am fed up to the back teeth with trying to make it work! Every night I just get a message of “insufficient sleep data.” I am using the app on my s3 Apple Watch, and iphone 7, and have had this issue after it worked for the first night of use. I have tried going through all the app permissions, uninstalling and re installing, restarting my devices, but nothing seems to work. It’s now being uninstalled and staying that way. I wouldn’t waste your time. >>>>> edit in response to developer<<<<< As stated in my review, I have been through and set up the permissions (multiple times), so there is either a bug preventing the permissions from working, or it’s simply not the case and there are other issues. Regardless, I shall not be trying with this app again. Thank you for your response, but the issue cannot and has not been resolved..Version: 3.8

App has changed over the yearsTL;DR - The app “ShutEye” is better. Have been using Pillow for 3 years and recent changes have made it a money-grabbing machine. The divide between free and paid has stretched further, I was subscribed for a while until features came to a standstill and alarms stopped working. Sure, they eventually fixed it though it took a while (could never trust it again). Final stake in the sand - Pillow started sending app notifications for commercial services instead of genuine notifications. Any apps that send notifications for commercial services lands an insta negative review from me..Version: 4.0.7

Stupid update (again)I’ve had this app for about a year now and twice it’s updated and lost all of my information. I don’t understand why you back it up to the cloud if you can’t restore your history when this happens. Isn’t that the purpose of backing it up to the cloud? It’s also eating up my watch battery which it never did before this most recent update. I have contacted your help desk and haven’t heard anything for 2 weeks. I understand sometimes problems require time, but I guess an email update telling me that you’re still working on it would be nice, I guess I’m just asking for too much. At this point it feels like you responded quickly but hope I’ll just forget about the problem as time progresses. If that’s the case I’d rather just get a refund and be on my way. Update after placing this review 4 months ago. I received a message from the developer telling me how to fix the watch problem but have yet to hear how they fixed the problem where my history kept being erased every time they updated the app. I never received a response as to how to recover my history after the last time it was updated and erased (which occurred about every 3 months) even it’s “supposed” to be backed up on the cloud. I’m leaving it at 1 star since I can’t put anything less..Version: 3.8.1

This app is basically a scamI very well understand that app developers need to make money some way or another, whether it be through ads, in app purchases, or premium memberships. In this case, Pillow has a premium membership that at first glance you may think to yourself, “eh I won’t need it, but maybe if I really like the app it might be nice to get eventually.” But upon using the app for more than 2 nights, you will come to realize that it’s practically useless without the membership. This is a sleep tracking app that doesn’t let you you see your past nights sleep data without buying premium. That literally defeats the whole purpose of this being a sleep TRACKING app. Oh and it’s got a sleep sound recorder, pretty cool huh? Nope, can’t use it without premium. In fact, you can see that it records something, but you can’t listen to it without the membership. I have no idea of knowing if it even recorded a sound from me or if it’s just the crickets outside my window or a creak in my wall. So overall, this app is a glorified alarm clock unless you drop the $3 per month or $30 a year or whatever it costs. Don’t fall into their trap. Even if you’re curious and want to buy a month to try it out, PLEASE remind yourself to cancel after that month so they don’t keep sucking up your money after you’ve forgotten about it..Version: 3.9.79

New update disappointing so far.Feeling disappointed in the new update. when trying to leave it on automatic it just hasn’t been collecting data. i downloaded it on my hubby’s apple watch too and his hasn’t done a single night of sleep yet. even when he set it to start himself. i loved the app before the update and thought it would be awesome if i didn’t need to remember to hit start when going to bed. but so far it hasn’t done a reading automatically anyway. hoping it will eventually work as i really like the app..Version: 3.6.2

Far too expensive to be this inaccurate.Committing to a monthly charge (despite the developer responding to another critical review saying it’s a one off payment - it’s not, it’s a monthly charge or a bulk better value yearly one if you can afford it at the time) you expect accuracy. Although the free Apple sleep function provides a lot less information, I found that once I got an Apple Watch, what it did provide was accurate. But Pillow is worse at the basics (such as when I’m awake) so how can I ever trust the stuff I can’t prove myself, such as cycles of sleep? I have no interest in half the stuff you pay for, such as audio recording. I just wanted a better understanding of my sleep cycles, but if it can’t tell the difference between asleep and awake upright, then it’s not going to work for me. If it actually *was* a one off payment I would probably persevere, but I despise all these monthly charges. If I can’t buy something outright I don’t bother, particularly when I have to fight to get it to cooperate..Version: 3.9.92

No free trial?Free app has very minimal features and therefore really do need to upgrade to premium. However, there is no free trial of the premium. No idea how effective the premium features are. Switched to another app for this reason..Version: 3.6.2

Don’t botherLast night I had a good night’s sleep but the app (after wearing the watch all night) told me that I only slept 2.5 hours. Data for other nights has also been dubious to say the least. Oh well the alarm is good right? No, I literally remember what was happening in my dream this morning when the app decided that was the ‘optimal’ time to wake me up. Another thing - the first thing you see after stopping your alarm is the PREVIOUS night’s analysis. Could there be a more blatant bug? However by far the worst aspect of the app is the obnoxious and desperate attempts to get you to agree to pay an ONGOING fee to use this app. It even shows you all of the audio clips that it has recorded of you during the night (and stored on your phone) with nice little play buttons next to each one, which, you guessed it, all take you to a payment screen. Insulting to my intelligence is an understatement. In response to other reviews the developers claim they need your money for ‘salaries’ (think about that for a second) which shows a clear lack of understanding of basic business integrity. If the app it’s viable without users paying a significant ongoing fee then the app isn’t viable..Version: 4.0.10

A total waste of moneyIt doesn’t work I have tried numerous times and have followed troubleshooting and apparently I have insufficient data. I really would like a refund thanks..Version: 3.7.3

Unable to edit sleep durationNot happy with latest update September 2022. I’m not interested in anything much from a sleep app and wouldn’t pay for it. I was satisfied with basic reporting that I could correct previously. Need to be able to correct duration because, while I don’t often sit and watch television, doing so tends to be reported as time asleep. Trying to edit now brings up an advertisement for subscription and dismissing the advertisement takes it back to the incorrect report, i.e., edit function has been disabled..Version: 4.10

Apple Watch support takes too much battery and alarm doesn’t even work!I tried sleeping with my Apple Watch with pillow on, and when I woke up the battery was literally at 5%, so I couldn’t even use it in the morning. I tried this the next day and the alarm didn’t even work!.Version: 3.8

This program is uselessGood thing that it was free as it does nothing.Version: 3.8

Not impressedI bought this app a long time ago and to be honest I’m not impressed with it at all. It used to record every night and tell me y sleep patterns, however, now it’s intermittently recording data. Some weeks I get 1 or two days maximum being recorded. I shouldn’t have to reset it to get the app to record. It was a great app now it’s not since they went to a subscription service. I’m now looking for a new reliable sleep app..Version: 4.5.2

Update ruined this appThis is the first review I have ever written on the Apple store, because I generally don’t care enough about apps to say anything, but I have to this time. The Pillow app was the best thing I ever discovered over a year ago. It helped me figure out the proper amount of sleep I needed, which was always a question as I am an insomniac. I would tell anyone to download this app if complained about sleep in any regard. However, the newest update is the worst! Everything is totally changed, so if you’ve gotten used to the layout for the last YEAR, your muscle memory means nothing. It’s harder to access past night’s data. The new alarm set up of having ore-sets is a good idea, but if you want to add a new one you have to swipe through every single one of them to get to the add button. And worst of all, if you accidentally swipe the app closed, it doesn’t automatically save your data like it used to. I have now lost about 5 days worth of data since updating last week, and before then, for the last year, I had had less than 3 days missing from my own human error, not the app. I would just delete the app and try a new one but unfortunately I had bought a year subscription to their premium access and it was recently renewed. So thanks for ruining this app and stealing my money ✌️.Version: 4.0.8

New update not accurate at allSince the newest update, this app does not detect if I wake up during the night even when I get up out of bed. Last night I lay awake for at least a half hour, got out of bed as well during this time and it was not noted in the data. I also got out of be x2 more times and that wasn’t recorded either. In fact my sleep quality was supposed to be good and it wasn’t at all. Very disturbed night! Edit 1: Despite repeatedly retraining this app AI it is not detecting how often I am awake. I would have thought my heart rate increase would align with waking too but not on the apps graph. I am using Apple Watch 3 also. I am about to give up on this app. I am using the paid upgrade too. Even audio has me talking to someone and the app says I’m asleep. Totally useless. When are you going to fix this????? Edit2 : new update allows user to have app reassess and increase awake time. I had to do this 3 times after last nights session before looking vaguely accurate. Still didn’t take into account that it took double the the time to get to sleep. Still doesn’t line up with increase in heart rate even when I got out of bed. More work to do. I am almost ready to delete it..Version: 3.5.6

Extremely hard to use and confusingExtremely hard to use.Version: 3.9.63

Used to be betterI used to be able to see percentages of sleep cycles, now that I’ve updated that’s only a premium feature..Version: 4.0.5

Not so goodThis app needs a lot of work. They also have no customer service only an automatic robot with wrong generic answers..Version: 4.3.2

TerribleDoesn't work, used other apps and get way better results. Doesn't realize when you're only up for a few mins and then back to bed ie gone pee and went back to bed..Version: 4.2.3

Doesn’t automatically detect sleepThe app says that if you wear your Apple Watch to bed it will detect sleep. I’m two days in and it hasn’t done this….Version: 4.2.5

This app keeps getting less impressiveI have been using this app for a few years now in conjunction with other sleep apps. I have tried the paid subscription for a short time. But, really didn’t find it helpful enough for the cost of the subscription. The inaccuracies in the sleep detection always had me using it with other sleep apps for data balance as well. Plus, their automatic detection had me in bed for an entire day, after which I stopped using the auto detect. I have had multiple issues over the past year with the app since I obtained an Apple Watch and it’s ability to coordinate between the two devices. Or to even keep a session going while I slept. This latest update is the worst yet. I hate the new interface with the stupid ring theme that really has little meaning, and yet dominates the screen. The stupid app now doesn’t even give the most basic of information - like how long I slept, or the amounts of time in each type of sleep like it did prior to this update because they have to milk every cent out of people. They have made my decision very easy. I will no longer be using Pillow as any of my sleep apps, simply because it has always been insufficient and is now a total garbage app unless you pay for it..Version: 4.0

Alarm exit it self at night.Missed a online meeting. So disappoint it happen couple months. Just cancel supporting.Version: 3.9.75

Missing sleep sessions & inaccurateThis app has steadily got worse. It used to be accurate and reliable but now it loses sleep sessions almost every night. So if you get up in the middle of the night, in the morning the watch will only send the most recent session to the iPhone app. Any sessions from earlier in the night just disappear as if they never existed. It used to merge multiple sessions seamlessly. This isn’t every night but most nights which is infuriating because you keep thinking maybe it was just a one off but ultimately problems have been ongoing for a few months now and ultimately any data you fo get is meaningless. Also it just got so much worse with the analysis. Apparently I have zero to minimal REM sleep now, which is completely incorrect. I thought this was an app I’d stick with. But i can’t trust this anymore so looking for alternative that can give me steady and reliable data..Version: 3.8.1

A strange app-inaccurate and clunkyAfter a month using this, The Artificial Intelligence shows me awake when I am asleep and in deep sleep when I have been in the kitchen making breakfast. Its Training mode seems to complete after 3 days or so maybe thats not so surprising. Retraining it doesn't make any difference and a number of buttons appear when doing this with no obvious instructions on what to do. It recommends a optimal “bed time” that gets later and later (now after midnight for me even though it has categorised me as an early-rising “lark” ) The interface is quite clunky and not intuitive (strange choice of sleep stage colours). Sleep lab tells you that you need 7-9 hours, exercise is good for you and don't drink too much coffee especially before bed. If you install and perhaps even pay for a sleep app there is a fair chance you already know this. I can see zero advantages of the paid upgrade. This is my first Apple Watch sleep app. I get the feeling my FitBit app was more accurate although of course the FitBit itself lets things down. Not convinced this is the best so will look at the others..Version: 3.9.76

Used to be a long time userReally!? I wrote the review below the last time a major update was made because they took away the heart rate function unless you paid for an ongoing subscription. After awhile, they brought heart rate back for everyone, which was a great decision. After downloading the newest update last night, sure enough, the heart rate function is gone again unless you pay for an ongoing subscription. Seriously, you didn’t learn from your previous mistakes? There are too many other similar apps out there that offer the heart rate function at no extra cost. —————— I have tried many sleep apps and most of them are fairly accurate, but have stayed with Pillow because of the heart rate function. Now that is part of the premium service that requires an ongoing subscription. I realize that you need to make money to keep the app going, but an ongoing monthly or yearly charge is excessive. I’d be willing to pay a reasonable onetime premium charge, but not an ongoing subscription. From reading the recent reviews, it looks like many others agree with me. It’s not too late to realize that you made a mistake and make an adjustment to your “difficult decision“..Version: 4.0

Hasn’t seen when I’ve been awakeI’ve no idea how well it’s tracking my phases of light, deep, and REM sleep because I wouldn’t know, would I? However, I do know that it’s not picking up occasions in the night when I’m waking up accurately - such as last night when I know I woke up several times, including on one occasion when I actually got out of bed, but the app says I slept right through. Yes, I’m using it with an Apple Watch which has plenty of battery. I see the developer’s stock response to reviews is to just blame the customer saying it may be due to incorrect device placement and setup and to contact the help desk for assistance. Folks, the device has been placed on my wrist, in the manner just about everybody with a full complement of arms places their watches, and the setup was done according to the app’s default wizard setup routine (and I don’t exactly remember a great deal of configuration possible for the setup in the first place). Here’s a pro tip - you earn paying customers by delivering products which work, and being responsive to problems that arise. You lose paying customers by delivering products which don’t work and patronising your customers about it..Version: 3.9.2

Your data is lostWhere is my data? After I review it and close out, its gone. I can’t go back and review it again. What’s the point of paying if you can’t retain the information collected on your sleep?.Version: 3.9.63

Was PERFECT... now it’s terrible!I’ve used this app for a long time. It was perfect. I would set an alarm and go to bed and when it detected that I needed to wake up near my set alarm it would vibrate my arm. If I needed to hit snooze that too worked perfectly as well. I was is heaven. I achieved the best sleep I’ve had in years! My wife was amazed at how I woke up rested. For the last four months the app has become useless!! I set an alarm (6am) and get up to use the bathroom (1am -ish) only to notice the alarm is set to go off at 3am. I set it and hit start for 6am but this app decided to change it at some point. Then the hepatic Apple Watch alarm stopped going off when the 6am alarm does stick and the phone stopped making its alarm sounds. I’ve been late to meetings due to this happening. It’s infuriating!!! Also, IF the alarm does go off and I tap snooze on the watch, yep, you guessed it, it turns the alarm off instead of snoozing. I’m not sure what has happened with this developer but reading the reviews they either don’t care that their product is going downhill fast or have no clue how to fix it. Before all of this started happening I would have left a 10 star rating if I could. It was that perfect. Now, I’m just sad to see it go this badly..Version: 3.9.89

Could be better.I see that the developers are still making changes, I have seen new ones since the major update like they brought back some old sounds that are really good, but the new sounds need work still. Both fireplace sounds are bad, one sounds like it’s in a wind tunnel and the other just doesn’t sound right, and that urban rainfall sound just needs to go. Nobody wants to hear cars drive by, or sirens, or people talking. Also you need to fix the sleep sessions calendar, I can’t access previous sleep sessions to see how my sleep was on pervious days or even the day I finished my most recent sleep session once I close the app. I have to look at it then and there. The calendar just opens for a second and then closes, can’t click on a different day on the calendar to see that day. I paid for the premium version on the old version of the app and I really liked it, but not being able to see previous days sleep sessions is kinda a deal breaker, the trends section doesn’t give the whole story on sleep quality or how well you slept. Please fix the sleep sessions calendar and the sounds. Also I don’t know of anybody that likes any kind of talking stories or guided meditation sleep talks either. Everyone kinda just wants simple noise with no talking to sleep, the talking keeps a brain to active and awake..Version: 4.0.3

Not intuitiveThe first night it didn’t record anything, as I didn’t launch it, and wasn’t prompted to. In effort to try to launch it I added a sleep aide, which then woke me every 20 minutes, which I thought was going to be a timer to turn the sleep side off. Most of the text doesn’t work with voiceover either, making it difficult to navigate when I couldn’t read the large amount of tiny text. While I found the presentation of the sleep analysis very helpful, it’s not worth the headache of trying to figure it out, not the cost..Version: 4.12.1

RUBBISHThis app does not work - as simple as that ! Cannot record accurately time in bed , time asleep , or awake. Pairing with Apple Watch just results in garbage data . Do not waste money on this ! As of July 2021 still same issues - app does not work with Apple Watch 6.Version: 4.2.1

It’s overpricedI bought the premium features when it was a one time purchase and I get to keep my premium but for people just coming to the app now it’s way too expensive for what you get, if they kept with the old one time payment it would be a 5 star app with no major complaints at all but now it’s just overpriced garbage that I don’t pay for cause I’m lucky.Version: 3.9.63

Paid for premium, now they take that away!So I paid for the original premium before they moved to a subscription model. Now they have taken away features for us who have paid for it previously, only to charge us a monthly fee to have access to the features we already paid for. App was really good, which is why I paid for the premium extras. To have them taken away instead of grandfathered like most do is disgusting. Thankfully apple introduced sleep tracking, use that and don’t get ripped off. Update: After the developer response I revisited the app, it isn’t 100% clear that you get the premium if you previously paid for it before the subscription model - but you do. A tiny link below the buy subscription button allows you to restore you previous purchase..Version: 3.9.86

Useless and disappointingIt’s the first app that I’m going to delete after paying for it. I tried to stick to it with the hope that the accuracy would improve with time, but six months of dissatisfaction is quite enough. With my Apple Watch series 4 Nike, the app frequently provided inaccurate sleep record. It’s useless and definitely doesn’t worth the money, not one cent..Version: 3.9.63

Not really worth buyingI have been using this app with my apple watch for more than a year now. When I bought it, I couldn’t find other great options for free and Pillow’s interface looked really good. After I bought it, I realised there are not so many features in actual and I have to click on each date to generate the report for that date. Many times, you don’t want to check report everyday but want to see pattern for a period however that requires clicking on each date to make sure it generates readings and then report your average. Now I really regret my decision after I found other free apps which have much easier interface and get all these things done without any intervention (clicks) required from my side..Version: 3.9.82

Used to be good, but suddenly automatic tracking has fallen off a cliffUntil recently, pillow has proven to be the most accurate sleep tracker that didn’t require a set up process each night, thanks to its use of the my Apple Watch S3 heartrate sensor, but in recent weeks I have had a plethora of issues with its accuracy and logging. Two weeks ago, it started to incorrectly report my sleep times, sometimes only recognising the first hour or two of an 8+ hour nap, and sometimes not even recording at all. This has proven to be extremely frustrating, since I have been trying to track my sleep habits for medical purposes. The second issue only reared it’s head in the last week, it seems that almost every day, despite my sleep being logged in the app (accurate or not) it doesn’t save the data to the health app. At first I thought this was because permissions were incorrectly set, but somehow, about every 10 days, it logs that nights data into the app, but it logs the exact same data multiple times. So permissions clearly aren’t an issue. Unless this gets fixed, I will probably have to look for an alternative app, even if it means I have to set it up every night before I sleep..Version: 3.6.4

Needs to improve the audio recording optionA good app that provides sleep info in an accessible way and I like the level of detail it offers in the premium mode. However, I am totally disappointed with the audio recording option - one of the features that made me pay for the premium service. The implementation of this is a complete mess. It is the iPhone that does the recoding, yet when you try to implement it on the phone, there is a message saying to use my Apple Watch. But on the watch it tells me to use the phone or it says there is already a session running on the iPhone (even when there isn’t). The result is that whatever I do, Pillow fails to record audio. I have read the instructions from the developers and tried to follow them, but It seems that this promised feature simply does not work as it can’t be implemented. The developers either need to fix this feature (if it is broken) or redesign the implementation so that users can get it to work. Currently it is a shambles and, to all intents and purposes, a broken feature..Version: 4.18.1

Why ‘fix’ something that isn’t broken.I paid for this app a while back so that I could get the ‘thunderstorm’ sounds to fall asleep to. I absolutely loved the app, used it every night to help me get to sleep. After they updated it all they want is more and more money from you for a worse version of the previous app. Very disappointing, going to be looking for another app now..Version: 4.0

Inaccurate. When using the Apple Watch the heart rate seems accurate. Noise recordings are also good. But I’ve noticed that whenever I’m laying still it’s recorded at my being asleep. Even after retraining. Due to my insomnia my sleep is all over the place and sometimes I get frustrated and stop my recording only 30 minutes in. It’ll say I’ve slept when I know full well I spent that time laying still TRYING to sleep. This makes me question the accuracy. Especially with duration and time until asleep. No way do I fall asleep in 10-15 minutes, ever. It’s rather disappointing as I wanted to track sleep for health reasons..Version: 3.7.6

Mediocre ... FOR NOW ☝🏼I got the app because it sounded good. I’ve been having problems sleeping & I thought that this might help. When I opened the Free version I was able to see my sleep pattern for that night. Which was great! Not complaining. I wanted to try out the Audio feature but I had to pay $5 plus tax to use that function. I’m like “SOLD! It’s worth it.” After my purchase I tested out my FULLY FUNCTIONAL $5 app. It wasn’t what I expected. The features I got was definitely NOT worth my $5. I’m hoping this company tweaks a few things such as letting us skip thru the audio. That simple click to play click to stop isn’t so convenient. If you stop that’s exactly what it does. The audio doesn’t pause in the spot you left off at forcing you to start all over. That gets a little annoying & time consuming trying to go thru the audio. Also another thing that would be great to have is a “time marker” that lines up the audio play to your sleep chart. I paid $5 for basically the audio feature. I just expected it to feel like a $5 feature/app. Im sure this company will do updates in the future so I’m still gonna stick around. I love the idea behind Pillow. Has great features as a Free app.Version: 3.3.6

Past sleep sessions have been lost...I am writing this negative review after almost 2 years of successfully using the paid Pillow app. During sleep it recorded REM, light and deep sleep, and I could see improvements after having made various changes in my sleep habits. However with the update to version 3.7 I lost about half of my 700 recorded sessions. Tech-support told me how to restore them manually one at a time, which I did, but then with the update to 3.7.2 I lost all of my sleep sessions. I’m not willing to go through manually adding all 740 sleep sessions, and at this point I’m still waiting for a solution from Pillow. The app works just fine now, but only thinks I’ve had about 10 sleep sessions total. In fairness to Pillow this could be a conflict with another app on my phone (iPhone XS) or watch (Series 4) or with some setting I have on the phone. But at this point, apparently, we just don’t know. Update after a couple more weeks and an update or two. I still have the same problem with the app only showing sleep sessions from the last 20 nights. The previous 700+ nights are gone—and no word from their tech support on a solution. And this is for the paid version of the app using iPhone XS and Apple Watch 4. For shame, Pillow..Version: 3.7.5

Used to be greatWas great till they started charging for anything worthwhile. Now it’s just an alarm. Will be checking out other apps that don’t charge you for every feature..Version: 4.0

Not goodOnly had it for the free trial and it only worked half the time! Deleted and thankful I didn’t pay for it!.Version: 3.9.74

Not that impressedThe graphics are pretty and everything, but two fundamental flaws. Even when plugged in on proper Apple charger it drains the battery. It won’t let me access my own data without paying, this is a breach of privacy..Version: 4.14.2

SucksNew update is garbage.Version: 4.0.1

I’m awake at night, and the app doesn’t detect.Doesn’t detect when I’m awake for hours at night. I tap the screen on my watch, wave my arm about in the air and it still tells me I’ve slept through. It only seems to detect that I’m awake if I get out of bed. Have checked all the settings. All appears to be correct..Version: 3.9.79

Update ruined the appCongratulations on ruining the app. I’ve been using this loyally and gratefully every night for almost 2 years, I loved the app... but absolutely everything has been changed with this update and now I can’t even get stats without paying. The layout is so much more difficult to use, fiddly and unnecessary??? Like why? Wot? It was perfectly fine before? And now all my data is deleted? Over 500 nights of data I collected for my doctors.... 😐 This is the only review I’ve ever left on absolutely anything so that means y’all have really messed this one up lol. Guess I’ll look what other sleep apps are on the market..Version: 4.0

Data I can’t delete off of iCloudAccording to the settings on my phone it says that this app takes up 4.1 gb of my 5gb storage and I have deleted the app and tried to delete the data to no avail. I just want the storage space back.Version: 3.9.63

I can’t believe I got sucked into paying for thisThe absolute worse waste of money! So inaccurate it’s laughable! Don’t waste your money..Version: 4.2

Disappointing but Getting BetterPretty disappointed, just got my Apple Watch series 4 and installed this and set everything on and put it to automatic. Went to bed and when I woke in the morning there is nothing there, says I didn’t sleep and just keeps asking me to pay for premium. Update: after following the process outlined by help desk, I have managed to have it all work now. I am still not sure about it’s accuracy, indicating that I was awake for 46% of my 7.5hrs sleep time and not quite sure how to deal with the pop up that asks about its accuracy. So better in that it now tracks my sleep, just not convinced about accuracy at the moment..Version: 3.6.6

So inaccurate…I want to love this app, and there is so much about it to love as the interface is beautiful. However, it is so inaccurate. It just doesn’t appear to get sleep cycles anywhere near what they are, and deep sleep appears to be way off. Everyone knows that deep sleep periods are most prominent at the beginning of your sleep cycle, however Pillow has them appearing all over the place, sometimes on an hour or two before I wake up. I want to love it, but I really just can’t get it to represent anywhere near the sleep I am experiencing. You can’t charge the annual subscription you are for something so unreliable. Come on guys, sort it out!.Version: 4.17.4

Used to work wellFound this app useful until I couldn’t start it. Watch keeps coming up with dismiss screen. Phone and watch are connected by Bluetooth but app no longer working. Disappointing. This ONLY happens with Pillow. Not a connectivity issue with any other app..Version: 3.3.6

Gone from Great to TerribleThis used to be my go to sleep app but of recent times the app has been nothing but terrible. The list of problems are too many to go into here but for a premium app there should be maybe a few bugs along the way but not continual operating problems that are not resolved in a timely manner. In its current version the app is seriously flawed. To amplify the frustration the customer service is non-existent. It would appear that having a bot screening the help process is Pillow’s answer to providing support but even the bot can’t seem to understand even basic concerns. Remembering this is quiet an expensive subscription (which these days is loaded with problems) - look elsewhere as there are far better quality reliable sleep apps out that will save you the ongoing frustration of being connected to the Pillow sleep app..Version: 4.16

They will lose your sleep dataFirst night: app asked ME if it’s sleep report is okey.. How do I know?! In the morning I googled how statistics should looks like for an average person (sleep stages) and all the stages just a mess up in your report.. 🙄🙄what’s the point? Looks like I was falling into deep sleep 11 times and sequences of stages are wrong!.. where is the Raw data? Second night: I was wearing iw all night and I put iphone on the airplane mode before going to sleep. In the morning I stopped iw and there WAS DATA and then turn off airplane mode on the phone. All data was gone!!! Iphone is still waiting for data from iw giving me advice to check Bluetooth. Really? As I see iwatch data was cleared bc of Synchronisation with empty data! Great job guys 🙄losing data is a first issue for Quality testing. Do I wanna third night? Will your report be the same useless? Do I wanna try premium and pay you money? Nah... terrible.Version: 3.9.73

DisappointedNot sure if that’s avoidable, but the app keeps registering my partner insomnia as my own, so my results are actually not relevant to me. I use it with my watch, so I would expect it to be more accurate but it keeps showing me her awake periods! Very annoying and I already paid for the year....Version: 3.9.64

Since update inaccurateSince the update a few weeks ago this app has been completely inaccurate. I’ve used it for years and not its saying I am only getting 2hrs of sleep but in bed for 8.5 hrs. I’m not sure if they did this on purpose in order to force an upgrade but very disappointing..Version: 4.14.1

Needs fixingThis seemed like a good app so I payed to upgrade and get access to everything however I am really disappointed that it doesn’t alway track your sleep. Many nights it says there is no sleep data..Version: 3.6.5

ShenanigansJust generates made up data. It’s not real! And I proved it after not using it for over a year (it stops it tracking sleep automatically after a while if not using it). This morning after I woke up, having only opened it for the first time in more than a year, it still somehow could tell me when I was in light or deep sleep. Really?! How? So I checked my Apple Health app on my phone, which keeps all the sleep data (because that was the only thing I’ve allowed to track my sleep). And guess what, this app has simply analysed the 3 sleep entries made by my Apple Watch, and then guessed from that what times it thought I was actually asleep (even though my watch was already accurate), and then added its own data points (which were not accurate). Plus, I woke up briefly in the middle of the night, and although Apple Watch correctly captured it, this app shows me fast asleep at that time in its fancy colourful histogram analysis! Conclusion: this app is just making it up as it goes along. These developers need to get honest with this if they’re actually charging ridiculous amounts of money for made up data and hokey pokey analysis that don’t even resemble reality. If you don’t have data then declare it, don’t make it up! On the flip side, now I know this app is basically fake..Version: 3.9.85

Apple watch pillow not workingMy apple watch is pretty old, i’ll admit, but according to pillow the version 6.3 that i have is still supported. I use apple watch to get sleep analysis, and mobile for audio recordings, so both devices are connected. If i open apple watch pillow app after a session, nothing appears. No sleep tracking, advanced sleep analysis, nothing; and the “quality” section and the “asleep” section is equal to 0%. My apple watch didn’t record anything. Consequently, the same appears in my phone: it says “Waiting for data from the apple watch” but the data never arrives in the first place, so i have no sleep analysis. Both are on the latest iOS version possible and latest version of pillow. Only thing benefited from the apple watch was being able to see the bpm, and that’s it. For a person that downloaded Pillow only to see the sleep analysis specifically, this was a disaster..Version: 4.18.5

Update made it worseI used to love this app before it updated the only way I could go to sleep was through to this app and now I can’t because it updated and the sound that I used to sleep to before is gone and I don’t know what to do ughhhhh!!!!! Please please bring the previous sounds back please!!!.Version: 4.0

$5.99/month! GTFOIt’s hilarious if people pay for this..Version: 3.9.75

Let DownI have given 2 stars for the fact it is possibly a good app. The Developer said it is a one off payment in response to Tom Humphrey's review, when Tom mentioned about the monthly charge. This is not correct and it is a recurring charge of £4.99 a month and NOT a one off payment. Would have been far better to give a proper trial even if just for 2 days; rather than have to sign up for 7, as some may forget to cancel or even not know how to. Shame as I was looking forward to trying it. Following my above review, the developers have responded with an understandable and fair response that I totally take on board. Much as I like to support the smaller app developers; financially I am in no position sadly to purchase. I already use and subscribe to Pzizz at a special price having been one of their early supporters/donates, and I was hoping to add the features of Pillow for even more benefits. Despite my personal circumstances I wish the developers of Pillow well, and I appreciate them taking the time to respond..Version: 3.9.64

Useless now since latest updates.I’ve been a longtime pillow user and it has always been fairly accurate as to my sleep pattern, etc. But as of the last two updates, despite my watch telling me I’m hitting my sleep goal, the pillow app is telling me I’m getting 1-2 hours of sleep. It’s not accurate anymore. I fear that the app has become useless and I will need to seek out alternatives. Please fix the issue..Version: 4.4.1

Very persistentI can’t seem to get out of rating this app without it asking me every few days. This is precisely why I’m giving it 3 stars..Version: 4.18.7

2 starsIck, I wanted to like this app so bad- I even paid for the subscription but I’m only 2 days in and I can’t stand it. I wish I had more information on how it worked out my sleep stages, I don’t understand how when I’m in sleep tracking mode I can put certain audios on a repeat button but others I can’t, how I can set a timer for audios when I’m not in sleep tracker mode but can’t when I’m actually in tracking my sleep- honestly the stupidest thing about the entire app considering sleep tracking is the only reason people would download this app. The sleep stories and meditations seem to only have the same 2 females and 1 male on repeat who have terrible voices to fall asleep too! …Hell-O, like no thanks- how does that make anyone feel comfortable enough to fall asleep. Creepy, actually horrifying. Yeah I don’t think I have 1 good thing to say about this app besides the fact he looks cool. I’d recommend trying a different app as I’m just about to cancel my subscription..Version: 4.3.3

MehFitbit did a WAY better job. Pillow records your sleep when it feels like it. It doesn’t say this before you buy it but it has “known syncing issues” and you end up fighting with it to do what you paid it to do. If you are really into your sleep stats don’t waste your money on this cr-app..Version: 4.2.3

Pretty uselessThere were some big promises from this app and on the surface it appears well laid out and easy to use but it just doesn’t work. Only once did it track my sleep properly and include audio. I Paid for premium and want to use it with Apple Watch but every day it either tells me I’ve been awake all night or just doesn’t track. Tried “reanalysing sleep” function but it doesn’t do anything. The alarm is useless. It either doesn’t go off, or goes off at the wrong time. I had a very early get up to catch a train, and the alarm went off 35 mins earlier than the very early alarm anyway! Which is heartbreaking when you really needed the sleep. I’m extremely tech savvy but You need some sort of PhD to figure out how to stop or snooze it, half the time it just stops and the alarm never goes off again so I end up oversleeping. You can’t use any other alarms with the app so there’s no option of a backup unless you have a traditional alarm clock separate to your phone or something? Which completely defeats the point. You can’t view a daily analysis of your sleep, only an overview of the week or month so if you’re interested in seeing how you slept on a particular night it’s no use at all. I was hoping this app would help me wake up more naturally, and feel more refreshed in the mornings. Sadly I just end up feeling even more tired, groggy and very grumpy. I will be asking for a refund and won’t be using it again..Version: 3.8

Doesn’t auto track well and can’t see even yesterdayThis app frustrates me because it doesn’t auto sense well; the first day I tried to use it on auto, I was so excited to see how I slept, but it turns out it counted time while my watch was charging and the day I was awake as sleep. It said I slept something like 18 hours and when I went to bed, it didn’t track my sleep at all! Form then on, I used it in manual mode, but it made all of these audio recordings, multiple per minute! I’ve never been told I snore and the other app I use says that I don’t snore, so I can’t imagine what it was using as a trigger to record?! Plus, you can’t listen to one audio clip without paying for the premium feature and from what I read on reviews, it sounds like it makes a bunch of blank, erroneous records. Also, the clincher- you can’t even look back at any prior days’ sleep without the premium feature! I would think that, even if it’s not going to analyze trends or do more complex comparisons, you’d be able to at least view prior days of sleep. Overall, frustrating. I’m mad that Fitbit has a free app that’s so much better. We got my daughter a Fitbit that was around $140 on sale. My husband bought me the Apple Watch for >$500 and there’s no included sleep app. 😡.Version: 3.9.64

Very inaccurate. Waste of money. It never auto detects sleep even though it claims to do be able to do so. Whenever I manually tell app I’m going to bed- it shows me as being up throughout the night when in fact I’ve slept all night. There is no consistency with it. I will not be renewing my subscription. I even reached out to customer support- they were very quick to respond but the one solution they offered did not work and I already read that solution and tried it on the FAQ page prior to reaching out to support. It did not fix the problem. The app is just terrible. Update: My iPhone is newer and up to date and I’ve given permission to apple health and all other permissions it asks for. I’ve even restarted my phone after giving permissions as your customer support team asked me to do. It will only detect sleep if I hit start from my watch app AND while the phone app is open as well. My wifi works good but the watch says I must open the app on the phone to be able to press start on the watch. If I only push start from the phone while wearing the watch, it won’t detect/record any sleep. When I have the phone app open and I hit start from the watch it will record my sleep but most of the time it’s wrong and says that I’m awake when I know for a fact I didn’t wake up at all, and in that case it won’t let me edit any portions that say I’m awake for me to specify that I was asleep it says that I have to update permissions but they are all turned on..Version: 4.7.6
