Pillow: Sleep Tracker for Positive User Reviews

Incredible AppI have had Pillow for several years, I upgraded immediately and paid for my 1 off fee. I sleep walk and sleep talk so this is a sensational app for logging this - it helps me really see whether stress is affecting my sleep. I absolutely LOVE the feature of the ambient sleep noise, I have yet to find a more perfect thunder and soft storm sound - Pillow’s is definitely THE best! I have since (within the last 3 months) paired it with my Apple Watch which has revolutionised the way the app works. Previously, I did not mind the slight miscalculations at night if I woke up - but now since pairing with the watch, it is spot on every single night! My mood is determined by my nights sleep and Pillow significantly helps me to monitor this, as well as my nighttime wandering and laughing, giggling and occasionally sleep crying! Fantastic app - I am so incredibly glad I have been using this app for so long. Revolutionary, spectacular. DEVELOPER NOTE PLEASE: as of July 2020, once I lock my screen after about 15-20 seconds, the white noise background sound stops suddenly. On rare occasions it stays on as desired and as previously has done, but more often than not it suddenly closes pillow, upon unlocking it says that I’ve not yet clicked sleep mode? Not a complaint, just was unsure as the best way to contact and share my occurrence..Version: 3.9.79

Neat appGives you a quantitative idea of your sleep quality relative to the previous readings and how you felt. Don’t take it as fact; it’s just an app. However I found it to be quite accurate with days where my activity is up. The graphs show better sleep quality on days of heightened activity..Version: 3.3

Love the new sleep soundsLiving this app, I just can’t get it to record any sounds at night. I put my phone on my husbands bedside table, to record his crazy antics, but it’s never recorded a single sound.Version: 4.0.14

One of the best sleep appsI’ve tried a couple of sleep apps to get some insight on why how and when I wake up tired. Some apps were good but fell short of giving me the full picture of my sleep patterns and what I maybe doing wrong. I don’t buy a lot of apps but this one helped improve my health and my overall mood everyday. If you have any problems with sleep this app. Will help from what type of sleep you are getting be it deep or rem or if snoring is your problem. When you hit the start button Pillow goes to work monitoring everything that goes on while you sleep or you can set the app. for automatic and it will detect when you have fallen asleep. It works best with a smart watch to give you heart rate and pulse and movements but still will work without one but you don’t get all of the benefits. There are a lot of options and features it’s almost like your own personal sleep lab without the white coats. So try it what do you have to loose except sleep. I don’t write many Reviews but this application helped me maybe it will do the same for you..Version: 3.6.5

Don’t work until the last updateWorked perfectly before the last update. Since then, it’s crap. Start the sleep tracking on the watch, stop working in the middle of the night for no reason. Succeed to record the sleep 50% of the time. Terrible..Version: 4.0.8

Stop the pop upsConcept is excellent but it’s so frustrating to get these pop ups when you are trying the app out. No point in purchasing if I won’t use it..Version: 3.7.2

Wow, thank youThank you so much for the trial.. it’s helped me discover that I can sleep well, I just need to understand where I’m going wrong and this app has helped me identify that :) I will be paying for the full app! Worth it.Version: 3.9.64

Great AppOkay, I’m going to start off by saying that I love the app. It works wonderfully, and the technology seems to be greatly engineered to check when I really am sleeping and when I wake up. The audio recordings are great, they’ve caught me saying some hilarious things in my sleep. I do have some suggestions. I understand that the feature where you can either shake the phone or hold the button for three seconds are meant to make sure people are really awake and getting up. Well, I happen to be a pretty light sleeper, and I get up very well, and I own the full version of the app but I’ve noticed that there is no option to just tap to disable the alarm. I’d like this feature to be implemented if it’s not too much to ask. Also, I think it may be cool to have a dream journal added. Like when you wake up, there may be a notepad there for you to begin typing out what you dreamt, and it keeps track of the night you dreamt it and stores it somewhere. There should also be an option to click a button that says, “I don’t remember what I dreamt.” And to go back and begin a journal entry if you didn’t remember it at first but now do/didn’t have the time to type it then. Thank you for your time!.Version: 3.3.6

Works remarkably well (with watch)So I have used many of these and I think this and one other are my favourite. This includes watch integration meaning you have to keep thinking about keeping the watch reasonably charged during the day. But then the insights are better. Don’t don’t have to tell it you’ve gone to bed. If it makes an error you can edit it. It works really nicely with the health app. I also use... can I mention it? Beddit (I like my sleeps!!!). That is strangely less reliable IMHO. But they work together fine in a belt and braces manner. Time to sleep possibly better with Beddit but literally everything else better with Pillow. I think. knocked off one star because I just had two 5 hour drives and one showed up in the health app as asleep! Do t let the police see that.. I was driving! The other in bed awake. Not sure how they can deal with that. Since it is an automatic and I was just sitting still after all. Could it spot you were moving from the GPS and ask you or flag it? I’d like it to catch if I sleep on a plain or train so I don’t want it to just delete anything moving. [Developer Response has answered this!!! Could switch off auto detect in a long drive! Thanks]. Would be useful to plot mood against sleep quality etc rather than on its own? (Landscape graphs feature). Anyway great app well done. I seem to have premium as a prior customer when it was actually less powerful (IMHO). So great value for Money for me. Thanks !!!.Version: 3.9.79

Amazing 😃I’ve been using this app for a few weeks because I have onset insomnia and I thought it was getting worse so I decided to download a sleep tracker app. I think the simplicity and the fact that with premium you can listen to yourself sleep talking which I do a lot appealed to me and so I downloaded ‘Pillow’. After using for 1 night I was already obsessed 😂. I don’t own an Apple Watch but it still works amazing. The premium in my opinion is fantastic and worth the money. When I first downloaded the app I didn’t expect it to come with an alarm but of course it does lol. The alarm manages to wake me up which surprised me as it has a very different sound than my usual one. The alarm is so intelligent that it wakes you up before you go into a deep sleep! Although I love the app and will definitely continue using it, I do have 2 issues 😬. 1: the sleep talking feature is overall amazing but is a little hard to find the clips with actual talking, snoring or whatever because a lot of audios are recorded with just the sound of nothing if that makes sense. 2: This is probably only a problem because I don’t have an Apple Watch but if someone walks into the room whilst I’m asleep, it will think I am awake. Despite the 2 problems, I definitely recommend downloading this and will continue to support the team 😃.Version: 3.9.65

Love this app!I’ve had this app for a couple of weeks now since I decided to purchase an Apple Watch as I do a lot of fitness and would like some deeper information about my workouts. Day 1 with the Apple Watch I saw this app and I have always been curious of my sleeping patterns as I tend not to remember any dreams (if I even have them). This app is perfect for tracking my sleep, it gives you a great insight on your awake time, the time it took you to drop to sleep, your light sleep period, your deep sleep period and most important for me was REM sleep. This app has been perfect for all of them and I can now rather accurately determine what factors affects my sleep quality, such as eating late, working out late etc. I love how it gives a report in the morning viewable either on the watch itself, or for more detail, on the iPhone. I even loved this app so much I purchased the premium features for a fiver (one-off cost, which I really appreciate the lack of greed and not charging a monthly/yearly cost). The features with premium are well worth it if you really want to stay on top of your sleep and view previous sessions and many other features. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a detailed insight on their sleeping patterns or people just a little curious about their sleep stages :).Version: 3.8

PerfectThe entire app is perfect and I love the fact that unlike Apple’s sleep tracking it is automatic so I don’t have to bother with Apple’s sleep schedule thing. The interface is also works very well and looks quite nice, I haven’t purchased the Premium Version and the app is still amazing. Overall a Perfect App.Version: 4.12.1

Reinstalled and problems are fixedThis was my original review-I bought the Premium version of this app to work with my new Apple Watch and it was great for about 4 days, now I get to the start screen on my watch and can’t move any further 😕 I am really disappointed because the information I was getting was great. Please let me know when you have fixed this glitch 😁 I am happy to say after reinstalling the app my watch and phone are talking to each other 😁 I love the audio feature I didn’t realise how often I talk in my sleep 😴. Anyway it’s a great app if you want to track your sleep patterns and heart rate while you sleep. The snoring and night conversations are a bonus 👍🤦‍♀️😁.Version: 3.5.8

Brilliant BUT battery usage highI really like this app. It seems to be the best one out there at the moment for using with iPhone and Apple Watch. It tracks your sleep well, reads your sleep quality and lets you make notes too. For example if you watch tv, read, or eat late before sleeping. Also your mood when you waken up. Two things that are not so good, I like to use the recording option for sounds as my fiancé has night terrors and I want to see how much this is effecting my sleep. I woke up this morning and my phones battery had been drained from 100% to 33%. My only work around at the moment is to leave my phone on charge all night which i would rather not do! It would also be great if there was an automatic sleep detection software so that you don’t need to activate on the phone and the watch before you go to sleep..Version: 3.3.6

Provides fascinating information about yourselfNot merely how well you sleep and how it can vary according to factors you can record at bedtime. Also wether you snore or talk in your sleep, and what you say. The graphs plotting "sleep quality" versus "weight" are clinically significant only if you have weight-induced sleep problems, likely if your BMI is 35 or more. For the comparison to heart rate, an iWatch is best, since it monitors your wrist pulsations continuously and allows the app to compare it to the movement and audio data it monitors while under your pillow. This will expose a side of you that you knew nothing about, fascinating in itself, and may warn you of upcoming or ongoing health problems. A truly useful app. It is the first thing I look at EVERY morning! With the “iWatch” the amount of info generated is fascinating, but …. When you don’t wear the watch you get nothing, whereas when I did not have the iWatch the app would monitor my sleep with the iPhone under the pillow. The problem seems to be that when I forget to put the Watch on after charging the battery, I also forget to put the iPhone under the pillow. I’ll work on that for a future update of this review. ¡Great app! Don’t go to sleep without it😂.Version: 4.15

AwesomeOnce I fixed my iPhone and iWatch pairing correctly ( it was my fault in the pairing problems) the App works just as advertised and better than what I thought . I am able to export all my Sleep Data to my files in CVS format. The beauty is you can visually capture when you are in the stages of sleep, duration, waking, Oxygen Sats on a graph just below the four stages and heart rates recorded in graphs also underneath the same graph. On the graphs you’re able to to see the exact time with all the sleep which i can also listen in for noises ie. talking, snoring, and all possible various things including animals, road and city noises to see if my sleep was disturbed. The dp ranges recorded on graph too which at this time eat plugs are needed. Heart rate variation is recorded along with EKG ms changes. It’s my tool to help me with my insomnia, sleep apnea, and arrhythmia problems. I use the Pillow App more than any other App or website on my iPhone or Computer. The fact i can share it with my physician(s) has also make my appointment so much better. I Would recommend this Pillow App to anyone..Version: 4.12.3

GoodIt isn’t clear tracking wise if I’m getting out of bed or not. It seems to guess awake periods and doesn’t seem to be very accurate. However it offers some good functionality and it works well enough to use..Version: 3.6.5

Looks like undeveloped appIt doesn’t have a clear way to access data. And for some reason didn’t record data, . First night it recorded, but no way to go back and see it, no sleep sound was and no wake up sound even I set all up.Version: 3.9.76

Pretty solid appI appreciate the colour palette, the sleek layout, and the alarms that don't SCARE you out of sleep, if you know what I mean. you can get a lot out of the free version, and I appreciate the quality of sleep comparison to the hours. The only thing I'm not into is how the alarm goes off even at the slightest movement during the 30 min before my alarm is set. it also takes up a lot of storage even though I can't access my previous sleep data on the free version. shouldn't you delete them then, since I can't access it? I've been using the app since 2018, so that could be why. It's still a pretty solid app..Version: 4.0.8

Working (restart watch)TL;DR - restart phone AND watch if you have any issues. In-App is quite expensive and feel I paid for features I don’t use. Would prefer if the functionality was split between a few cheaper options. Updated Full Review: Initially had trouble getting app to work on watch - everything looked ok but was unable to launch sleep recording as the button on watch face was non-responsive. Did finally get it to launch once, but after that it just kept crashing. Did the usual: uninstalled app, restarted Bluetooth, restarted phone, reinstalled app. Nothing changed - app just would not work. Gave up and posted poor review in frustration. Next day had issues on watch (an activity tracker crashed multiple times during two separate activities). Restarted watch, issue with tracker was resolved. Decided to retry this app (partly because dev responded to my review/rant and partly figure it might have just be a bad coincidence). Happy to report app now appears to be functioning correctly. Having used the app with In-App purchase for a couple of weeks I’ll say it works well for the most part. The interface is clean and intuitive and has very good integration with Apple’s Health App. With that said I would prefer if the In-App purchase (which is comparatively expensive) was split across, say, 3 different sections. I don’t use the alarm, or the nap feature and haven’t had much luck with the audio recording. All I really want is to be able to look at historic data..Version: 3.5.2

HappyThis has helped me a lot, it’s such an awesome app - I love it.Version: 3.9.67

Love this appSo much detail! Had no idea how much data would be collected during the night. Really fascinating to see and hear what happens when you doze off each night. I can highly recommend the sound recording, it’s super sensitive, be aware, most of mine are my dog panting and making other inappropriate noises. I had no idea he visits during the small hours, at least I think it is him:) Great to track how much deep sleep, light sleep and REM you have each night, the notes are helpful when looking for a pattern and thinking about what to change to reach a better nights sleep. Works magically with Apple Watch, so easy. I personally can’t fall asleep to the relaxing sounds available but I’m sure it may be helpful for others. The alarm is great as it vibrates on your watch to gradually wake you. Get this app, it’s really easy and intuitive to use, would highly recommend..Version: 3.9.2

Brilliant sleep tracking appHowever it loses a star because of its unclear pricing policy for the paid for app,in the app itself it shows.3 upgrade paths 1 month,3 month and 1 year yet in previous comments from the developer of the app it states it is a one off purchase and as such it is very unclear, other than than that issue the app itself is one of if not the best sleep tracking apps out there. It seems that following an email conversation with the Dev team that it has now changed to a subscription model, for which I understand the reasons, but it's just a little out of my range. It is still THE BEST sleep app out there and the free version is fantastic..Version: 3.9.2

This amazing appThis app is amazing. It works perfectly if you are guilty of waking up late! You can set an alarm and it can even track when you are sleeping and comes up with a record that tells you how you slept. It tells you when you are in a deep sleep, Light sleep or even when your up. If you haven’t already downloaded this app I suggest you do because it’s really helpful for me as, I’m still in school and struggle to wake up. You can add notes on Eg:Ate late or read a book and, you can even add your own things on there. This app also tracks your heart rate well mostly how fast it beats while you are sleeping. This is a really good app and can’t make any flaws. Well done to the creators. 😀.Version: 3.3.6

Nailed it.. but just one thing to fixA smooth and polished app that makes napping a joy. Sleep cycles are cleverly displayed and easy to operate. My one gripe for the developer to fix before the next update is: when the wake alarm is turned off that the music fades out. This also applies to when the sleep aid ends; it doesn’t do so abruptly because this actually disrupts the peace, created by the app..Version: 4.12.1

App just quit trackingUpdate: 4 Oct 20....it appears Apple had a HUGE issue with iOS 14 and WatchOS 7 that made Pillow not track correctly. Once I wiped my watch and phone and restored from the cloud my Pillow App started working again. For those of you having an issue with health tracking after installing the last updates follow the Apple reset guidance and it should fix your Pillow App like it did mine. I apologize Pillow, not your fault with the issue I posted about. ———————- I had this app for 52 days tracking my sleep and the very day I updated my phone IOS the app quit working and hasn’t worked since. I’ve engaged the help desk portion of the app for 2 weeks now. While I can only reach help desk at 4am Central (most likely means help desk in a 12 hour different time zone) it doesn’t seem that developers are to eager to help me solve this issue. I keep getting “canned” troubleshooting steps, did them many time along with deleting and reloading app to no avail. I paid for the premium app and would expect premium service but Pillow has fell way short of that expectation. Would not recommend. Spend your money on another app that works..Version: 3.9.83

Great, accurate app!VERY accurate even with a partner and 3 dogs in the room. Works well with Apple Watch. Has interesting bits of information about how you sleep, and great tips on what you might be doing wrong when you sleep badly. This app has helped me keep an accurate watch on my bed time & has helped me sleep better! I can see through the detailed statistics! I love it. I use it every night!.Version: 3.2.5

Hasn’t worked properly since I got my Apple WatchI used to live by this app. I used it religiously. But since I got my Apple Watch it literally hasn’t worked at all. I have updated everything. And updated it again. I tried going back to using the app with just the iPhone and not the Watch. I thought I finally figured it out last night and had the app open on both Watch and phone in “foreground “ and waited for over 10 minutes through jaw cracking yawns for the two to pair while the screen on the watch just spun and spun and spun and never resolved. So I gave up, because I was tired, after all, and decided to try “just iPhone “ once more. And once more, it didn’t work. And mind you, this is all happening over the changeover into Daylight Savings, so I really needed that alarm! I decided to give up this morning. After using Pillow for years, and telling people about it, and liking it, maybe it’s time to give up and us another sleep app. Or I will try Apple’s version and see if it works any better..Version: 4.5.1

Best app!I have been an insomniac for many many years and was always curious about my sleep and wanted to do things to make it better. I've been using the app for about 3 months now with my watch and it automatically detects sleep even if I take a nap. It has allowed me to track how well my new medications have been working and because of this app I have found one that seems to be improving not only the nightmares, but my sleep quality percent has increased dramatically. If it wasn't for this app letting me physically see the results I wouldn't feel as successful with the medication. The reason I rate only 4 stars is because it is supposed to also record sounds or talking. I have been told by everyone in my life that I am a sleep talker. I keep my phone within about 2-3 feet away from my head when I sleep and every single time I check there is no recordings. Just last night my daughter told me I freaked her out because I was having a full blown conversation and I was sleeping. The watch recorded my sleep but my phone which was about a foot from me hadn't recorded anything..Version: 3.7.2

Works amazingBest sleeping app ever.Version: 3.9.63

Love the appI love this app and how it records the data, it’s easy to read and helpful as it is always updating my bed time from when I use it. The sleep lulling sounds are perfect for me and it wakes me up at just the right time each morning. The only problem I have is that it recorded my movements and noises I made on the first Night 60 different clips so I bought the full app to be able to see what I was doing and I. Hopes to see how often each nights these happen as I have night terrors sometimes. But once I bought the app it stopped making recordings I have tried everything in the app and then phone setting but nothing seems to be working and I find it hard to believe that since that first night I haven’t done anything that shouldn’t have been picked up on the mic. Is there anyway somebody could tell me how to fix this problem. TIA x.Version: 3.3.6

Valuable informationI consider myself fortunate to have good sleep quality naturally. This app allows me to quantify multiple aspects of sleeping. In particular the tracking of my blood oxygen level. I’m 77 years and appreciate the feedback as to how my day’s activities benefit my night time sleep oxygen levels. The latest information about sleep is interesting and validates the importance of my using a sleep mask and ear plugs. The least bit of light wakes me, and the ear plugs muffles the sound that prevents waking unnecessarily. I have an older watch (4) so am not availing myself of the sound monitoring feature. I do take a break from wearing my watch to minimize EMF exposure while sleeping. I can tell, the mime I open my eyes, what my sleep quality has been, even without the feedback from the watch/app. I can tell if I am below 90% or above 94%. Overall the app is an excellent tool in quantifying multiple aspects of healthy sleep..Version: 4.18.1

Great App to track my sleepI love all the data to help me track my sleep and keep me accountable for hitting my targets ! I know how important sleep is and having feedback after each night is great!!.Version: 4.10.1

I never have never seen such a good app. There are many good sleep tracking app for the Apple Watch. But I have never seen such a good one. Why? Well, before I get the Pillow app, I was using the auto sleep app for the Apple Watch, and at first I loved it! After a while though I started recognizing that it was a little in accurate. After using the Pillow app, I’ve seen how my sleep is in as good as I thought it was, and I feel like I can make it better If I continuously use the app. I had if I get below a 70% sleep quality score, that I will not have a good day or I will be tired, but if I get above a 70% sleep score, then I know I can’t have a great day. Another reason why this app is better than the app I was using before is because it is so much more in depth. Before I even used the Apple Watch, I had a fit bit ionic, and I loved the sleep tracking feature, because it was so accurate and it was very in depth, but this is an Apple Watch and it’s not even made to be a complete fitness device, and the fact that it has more in-depth tracking and more accurate tracking than the Fitbit, just shows how great an app this is..Version: 3.5.8

IghtI think it’s real good. Don’t think it should cost 10$ for pro tho. Maybe 3$ish.Version: 3.7.5

Sleep TalkerI have always wanted to know what I say when I am sleeping. Everyone says I am talking in my sleep & can never make out what I am saying. When I found the pillow app that records you sleeping,😴 the depth of sleep & records heart rate ❤️I was so excited to give this app a go. It was scary to hear myself & what I was saying, it was interesting as well to know exactly how much sleep I was getting. 🔮I use to suffer from chronic fatigue & count how many hours I was awake, now I count ⏲how many hours ⏰I was asleep & why I wake up tied all the time. 😵I finally have something to measure ⚖️this all for me including records 📝of sleep & what is happening to me during this time. Thank you to the creators of ‘Pillow’ this is got to be one of the best apps outs there 👏🏻👍🏻❤️😁.Version: 3.3.6

Great AppThese app has really changed the way I look at my sleep. Has really had a positive affect for making changes in getting better sleep.Version: 3.6.6

Persistent undercounting of sleepMeasurements just don’t make sense and always have me as in bed for at least half an hour less than reality, even when I’ve clicked bedtime on my Watch and then turned it off again in the morning. Can’t look at even a basic graph of duration over a few days without premium. Interesting but not really worth it, given the poor measurement..Version: 4.2.5

Interesting and EncouragingVery interesting to see how many different periods of sleep you go through and using it has the added benefit of encouraging you to get more sleep if you’re skimping on it!.Version: 4.12.1

Big promises - Poor DeliveryThis app claims to track your sleep cycle by somehow detecting what phase of sleep you're in - but the data presented is absolute crap - not only does it not track sleep but it straight up lies to you about pretending it can. I suffer from insomnia, some nights it can take me a couple of hours to get to sleep, so I paid for the premium version of this app (WASTE OF MONEY) and started using it - at first I believed it, I was suckered in and it was fascinating to learn about sleep phases etc, but then I noticed that if I cancelled my session after a period of time where i hadn't successfully fallen asleep it would say that I had? It would present a pattern as if I had been through all the sleep cycles and enjoyed some lovely rest, the app even rated the quality of my sleep at 79% (very high) for a duration of 40 mins apparently - but I know first hand I was not sleeping one moment, Needlessly to say I am incredibly disappointed I actually spent money on this, Anyone considering this app may just as well check their horoscope and save themselves a fiver This would be a 0/10 if possible.Version: 3.5.7

Amazing options for the free version!!Normally, apps with a subscription based service are constantly rubbing it in your face and offer very limited options for non paying users, such as a one night trial or can’t use algorithm etc. Pillow is not like that, they offer many different options for free users and it’s awesome!! I can actually track my sleep and compare them to previous nights, as well as setting sleep goals. It’s absolutely amazing!!.Version: 4.11.1

Automatic AnalysisI don’t always hit the bed at the same time. As long as I’ve charged up my Apple Watch (and wearing it), Pillow has never missed a sleep cycle. Being able to visualize your sleep cycle and quality is very valuable…especially when you attach a note indicating what kind of day you’ve had and your mood. The same is true of post-sleep cycle notes. I have sleep apnea as well as a bilateral lung transplant recipient (20yrs out). Sleep and breathing are very critical parts of my overall health. I currently own a Series 5 Apple Watch…but look forward to upgrading soon. The upgrade to a Series 8 (or next generation) would provide additional data tracking of my O2 level during my sleep cycles. Im not sure if the new models track your respiratory rate…but that would be a great piece of information to add to the collection of data. No, I’m not getting paid for this review (I wish). Im most impressed by Pillow’s automated detection system. When I began using the program, I would adjust the placement of my phone…start a session and all that. I’ve tossed all that and just let Pillow do its thing..Version: 4.17.1

Sleep AidThe problem with the sleep aid is still there. Please actually fix it..Version: 4.0.3

Best app, use it everyday. Very accurate.Love the app, helps me monitor my sleep. Best feature is the automatic feature since I really don’t have to do anything but wear my Apple Watch. Has alway had 5 stars from them but since I got the new iPhone 11 max pro with the new iOS it does not work at all. Does not record anything, if I open the app it is extreme slow to even open and just crashes. Have reinstalled several times with no fix. Hopefully they will fix it soon as it is such a good app I have the premium version Team is very profesional, they responded to my complaint very fast. They gave me a solution in the mean time which is to turn off iCloud backup for the app since it is causing the crash, and they are working on a solution. This is definitely an amazing app, no complaints at all very accurate and now I can also say the team is very professional. I would recommend very one get the paid version in order to get the best out of it..Version: 3.9.61

RGKThe latest update has resulted in a degraded app! For instance, heart monitoring is now not available in the basic version where previously it was ... ! by all means improve the app, but please do not remove functionality and expect long time users to feel happy at having to pay extra to regain what was taken away. *** Following a response/advice from Apple (?) the Pillow App has now been restored with the features that had ‘disappeared’. As a result, I am delighted to review the status to 5* and pass on my thanks to the developers for the prompt service!.Version: 4.0.3

ExcellentUse Calm mainly for the Sleep Stories. Getting to sleep used to be very difficult for me. Now, I’m asleep within minutes..Version: 3.7.6

AwesomeThe time doesn't turn off until we do it it keeps on ringing which is the reason I like it the most... I created and alarm of 4am and it did not stop until I stopped it... After 5 mins I woke up and turned it of... So if you cannot wakr up easily this app is for you....Version: 3.2.5

Great feedbackLove the app. I use it with my Apple Watch and the feedback it gives me is incredible..Version: 4.0.13

Good but audio has stopped working? All seems fairly accurate and I like the interface, although there seems to be a glitch over the last week or so - the audio has stopped working, I haven’t changed the settings at all but every night there are no recordings of sound which can’t be right. It was working fine before. Also when you flick back through the days, it seems to add in extra entries for some days with no data which then get counted as the ‘worst session’. I’m not sure if it’s a new update that has brought in these glitches? I think it also would be good if you view a summary of every day over the last month (a bit like in the activity app where you can view a whole month’s worth of rings on one page) with the daily percentage or number of hours sleep, but not in a bar chart like when you rotate it. I’d also like to know more about how it judges the quality of sleep - some nights I’ll have over 8 hours, with a good mix of light, deep and REM sleep but the percentage will be lower than I’d expect. Still though, a good app that I enjoy using every night. I hope the glitches get ironed out..Version: 3.5.2

Almost perfectI like your app a lot but as of recent, 2-3 months, I’ve noticed a major issue. Once the alarm has gone off and I get up, I place my watch on the charger and do my morning routine. Once I’m done I put my watch back on and and head to work. At work I look at my sleep and more often than not it says I was asleep while my watch was charging. This started happening in September on a smart cycle. I restarted the learning AI and as soon as it was happy it started up again. So I switched to automatic mode and after a couple days past the AI training it starts again. I wouldn’t be to bothered because I can change the start and stop time but if the watch is charging then your app should know I’m not wearing it nor am I asleep. How accurate is your app? I’m not sure if an update or I, fixed my problem. I reset the the AI twice but nothing. I figured I’d try one more time and reset my phone right after and now it works again. If you could only have it in automatic mode and smart alarm it would be perfect..Version: 3.9.64

PillowIt crashed after paying for app.Version: 4.11.1

Great app but monthly subs too muchI’ve been using the app for a few weeks now, works very well, impressively accurate and I like the lay out. I would of paid a one off fee to get premium and I understand developers need to get paid but monthly subscription for a app to track your sleep is not my cup of tea. Also seeing previous users get it for a one off payment isn't cool. The main feature that interested me was simply seeing your sleep history, maybe a one off payment for certain limited features would be a good move? Audio recordings are not appealing for me. Minus the subscription fee moan amazing app and thank you!.Version: 3.9.79

I love pillowI never tracked my sleep before. My Nuerologist sent me for at least 3 sleep studies in several years and they always came back inconclusive. I got my iPhone upgraded and I noticed how much more the health section was more detailed. As I was reading through everything it had to offer I started paying more attention to all of those and sleep was one of them. I am a ridiculous insomniac and I never understood why I always was so tired. They gave me medication for my insomnia and I did sleep I just didn’t feel like I thought I should be one of the apps that the sleep section said was helpful. So I immediately downloaded it. When I saw the difference in the section patterns I was blown away by what I saw. Of course I didn’t have an apple watch yet I had to sleep with my phone under my pillow. I got my Apple Watch and now I can just leave my phone on my nightstand with my sidearm until I need it. And if I get separated from my phone luckily I can still call for help with my watch. I would highly recommend this app it is incredibly enlightening..Version: 4.16.1

Easy interface and it worksI recently got an Apple Watch and this app works seamlessly with it and from what I can tell very accurately too.Version: 3.7.2

It’s good. Interface could a with a little workI have been using this for months now with my Apple Watch. I love it but I wish I could drill down deeper into reports or have a report session too. Audio recordings where you sleep talk should be highlighted to you too..Version: 3.8.2

Great AppGreat App, Love it & the design & feel of it & colourful. I’d give this app 5 stars but only one reason why I give it 4 stars. Got it 4 years ago when got my Series 4 Watch & brought the full premium version of it, but now I have a series 8 watch with temperature sensor for sleep (health interest me alot) & with all the new features that are being added I can’t use because on top of when I bought it I now have to get a subscription for pillow to get full ability of it … It’s not Netflix … it’s a sleep tracking app…!!! One off payment for the app, fine, but on goings payment to get full access to use it… come on … Apart from that, Love the app !!!.Version: 4.15

Not so silent nightI absolutely love my Pillow app! I’m proper OCD about it now and it’s a must have in my going to bed routine. I waste way too much time reviewing the audio in the morning listening to my sleep talking ramblings through the night, it’s great! I purchased some time ago on a lifetime buy so have most features which now are paid for only so feel lucky that way, not sure I’d spend as much as it costs now but I definitely rate it if someone is looking for a sleep monitoring app. Some small weird glitches in regards to the alarm not going to my watch but apart from that it’s flawless and packed with superb features like sleep aid and relax music built in..Version: 4.17.11

This can be a big problemLet me start by saying that I love this app! I tell everyone that they should be using it. I have a lot of trouble falling asleep and tried many other apps but yours does it all. I hated that the sounds would continue, well until I woke back up to shut it off. The feature that it senses when I’m asleep and turns the sounds off is a life saver. Now I’m sure you’re wondering what for the reason is for the 4 star. Well, the alarm time always changes on me. Luckily I’ve caught it but it’s very nerve racking. My son had to get up one morning for a very important function. I set it for 5 am and went to sleep. Luckily something woke me up in the middle of the night and made me check it. When I did it was then set for 6 am. It would have been horrible if he missed this event. That wasn’t the only time it’s happened. It’s even changed from am to pm many times. Luckily I’ve caught those too. When you don’t sleep well as it is it’s horrible to have to worry if your alarm is going to go off at the right time or not. I’ve resorted to setting a separate alarm to make sure I’m up on time..Version: 3.5.2

Love this appWith the series 5 Apple Watch, for me this app is perfect. The only one thing I can think of that would improve the app is the bar graph. For me it would be easier to read if the REM sleep bars were shorter than the light sleep bars ie going from tallest to shortest: awake, light sleep, rem, and deep. This way I could easier see the quality of my nights slept better. Adding in a line graph for this may also be a good option. Other than that, I give this app 9.5/10. Keep up the good work. PS. As a data protection/privacy professional - I am blown away by how thought out and “privacy by default and privacy by design” has been incorporated into the app, especially in comparison to other health apps. You guys really have thought about users privacy. 10/10 for this one (on the GDPR scale of data privacy)..Version: 3.9.79

Still no improvement in sleep trackingI’ve commented a couple of times before saying that the going to sleep time is sometimes as much as 2 hours out of sync. Originally when I started using this app I was very impressed with its accuracy and the info was of some use to me. Now as well as the going to sleep time the REM stats and awake time are way out as well. I now accept that the stats show hardly any resemblance to my sleep at all. It all started when the provider started to charge for the privilege of using the app. This is not sour grapes as, being a long term user, I do not have to pay. The sleep app on my iPhone that comes with the health app is much more accurate but obviously less detailed. However, what’s the point of detail if it’s completely inaccurate. I keep thinking of deleting the app, but as I don’t pay I live in hope of the app improving, or at least getting back to its previous accuracy..Version: 4.2.6

Very sleepy and colorful appI’ve used the Sleep app (#1 in App Store) for a few years before I made a switch. They require an annual subscription. I made a switch because they haven’t had a major app update in a while and the data always look the same and seem less informative. Before the switch, I took the liberty to try other sleep apps. Then I came across this Pillow app and tried it for a week and fell in love with it. The free data provided on my sleep quality is more valuable than what Sleep provides in their free version. UI and UX is beautiful, I like the colorful bar graph more than the line graph. Love the heart rate comparison. It was even smart enough to detect my A/C noise in the background and reanalyzed my sleep data (suggestion: somehow auto tag or label which recorded sound is another sound other than your snore? I had over 100 audio recordings..) I decided to pay their one-time premium fee to support this app. Please continue to do your best on this app! Thank you!.Version: 3.6.3

Version 3.9.71 is fixedUPDATE: Version 3.9.71 fixes the Watch app crashing issue described below. My rating has been increased. ORIGINAL: I’ve been using Pillow for some time and up until version 3.9.7 I found it to be very useful. I bought Pillow before the subscription based model was introduced, so I have all the premium features for life, which made me feel very valued as a user. However, version 3.9.7 crashes the Watch app when starting a sleep session. This renders the app useless. I’ve tried reinstalling the Watch app and offloading and reinstalling the iOS app to no avail. Thankfully I also use another sleep app (which works automatically in the background and simply uses the Health data from the Watch) in conjunction with Pillow, so I haven’t lost ALL my sleep data. But Pillow has now been made redundant, since it no longer functions as intended. Furthermore, “automatic” mode in Pillow has never worked for me, so I can’t even use that function as a contingency until if or when a fix is implemented. If a fix is quickly implemented I will improve my rating. But I’ve now lost at least one night of sleep data in Pillow because of this bug, which is impossible to recover. My revised rating will reflect this..Version: 3.9.71

Best sleep everI slept in no longer than 5 seconds this app is my saviour.Version: 3.2.5

Good but could be betterThe app is good whether you have an Apple Watch or not. You can use it on your iPhone or iPad with a bit of ease. The alarm is useful and I like the way they display information if you wake up in the night and check your screen, telling you the time, when your alarm will go off and a couple of other bits. I downloaded this app last night and this morning I woke up a bit earlier then I though I would, but never mind. I checked the app to look at my sleeping stats and it was interesting to see the amount I sleep I got. There’s also an audio page too! Then, when I tapped the audio page, it asked me to pay for premium. WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO HEAR MYSELF SLEEP?!?!?! If you want me to pay for audio then you should at least let me hear a certain percentage of the audio so I want to hear the whole thing rather then just stop me. It asked me what mood I woke up in, I said good, I tried to use the app for part of what I downloaded it for, I’m in a bad mood because I needed to pay for it, £5. That might not sound too bad but I don’t just have £5 a month spare. Otherwise, this is a very good and useful app. It had relaxing music which helped me relax a bit. (You have to pay for more music and alarms too btw) The information is displayed neatly but the modes are less clear if you don’t watch the intro. Would have given it 5 stars if the audio was free🙄.Version: 3.8

Useful but quirkyI have enjoyed using Pillow for 5 months now and it’s informative and fun to use but there are a couple of quirks that I find inexplicable. The automatic data collection function via the Apple Watch is helpful, and the daily report has an attractive layout with relevant data clearly presented. I have noticed that in every one of the 161 sessions(to date) reports my sleep time as something ending in 9 minutes. (I.e. each session is reported as so many hours and 9, 19,29,39,49 or 59 minutes). This seems rather odd! Also, my reported long term average is lower than expected. I suspected it was under reporting so Idid a manual calculation and found my daily average sleep time was some 40 minutes longer than session average shown. My best guess is that the app is offering an average per session rather than an average per day. This means if you (like me) have the odd afternoon nap, instead of adding to a daily total it is reported as a separate session, thus artificially pulling down the average sleep time. Overall, this app is becoming a long term companion that I expect to use for years to come. I don’t mind it’s fixation with 9, but I wish the sleep session average offered an accurate daily sleep total instead, or as well..Version: 3.9.6

I like the app despite its inaccuraciesI like this app and find that it is helpful with my current goal of trying to get more sleep so I can be more clear and productive every day. I purchased the Premium version because I wanted to hear what noises I could possibly be making at night. The sound recording seems to work only intermittently, despite the fact that the phone is about a foot from my head and the mic sensitivity is on high. It also will sometimes record several notes a minute, for about 10-15 minutes, and those notes end up being empty when I've gone to listen. Also, despite the fact that in my "notes" I put "read" almost every night and "ate late" only once or twice, it says that I ate late about 36% of the time and read 11% of the time - even after I went in and put "read" on almost every night to see if it had an affect - that part of the app does not work. Also, the sleep aid music worked before I paid for the app when I was going to sleep. Now if only works when I'm not using my watch. It does work for naps on my watch, just not when I'm going to bed at night. (I do wonder how it can tell the differences between light, deep and REM sleep.).Version: 3.2.5

New algorithm and options are an improvementIt’s only been a couple of days since the new algorithm has been introduced but so far so good. I like that finally I can do some sort of editing, although the ability to edit sections of the sleep patterns would be even better. The accuracy seems to have improved with the new algorithm (I use an Apple Watch), and possibly the ‘training’ option is helping with this. The analysis is almost instantaneous now so I haven’t had any errors. For a while I’ve been using Pillow alongside another app which offers auto sleep detection, but I’ve always preferred the alarm/audio options, feedback and layout of Pillow; so if and when AutoSleep detection is introduced I’ll definitely consider using Pillow as my default option in the Apple Health source data order. Overall I’m very impressed with this version..Version: 3.5.1

Good appGood app, good info, works well with Apple Watch, I like the sound recordings, u need to pay for app to listen to them.Version: 3.2.5

Grain of saltI’m a skeptic by nature but I do like this application. I’ve been using a CPAP pump since subjecting myself to a comprehensive sleep study almost ten years ago. My condition was so bad the technician who monitored me told me if it were up to him, I would be leaving with a pump! After finally receiving my device, it only took a few days to realize the difference a quality night of sleep makes. I’ve never liked wearing the mask and wished I didn’t need it but it has probably saved my life by now or at least lengthened it measurably. Pillow has trained me to recognize the significance of a regular sleep pattern. It has shown me how to wind down and prepare my mind for bedtime. It has also pointed out that my blood oxygen levels drop a little at night. Not dangerously low but at 76 years old, I will bring it up to my doctor next visit. As a retired engineer, I plan to study the mechanics of exactly how the information Pillow gathers is formulated. That said, I still think using this application keeps me on track better than I would on my own..Version: 4.14.2

Amazing! This app has really helped me get some control back of my sleep. It was especially helpful when I was working shift work so I could gauge if I needed more sleep. And the nap function is awesome!.Version: 3.3.6

2 updates in less than 24 hoursLatest update leads to crashes on my iPhone 6s and my Apple Watch Series 3. Updating the app with the 3.3.3 update doesn’t resolve it either. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling app, uninstalling on watch and reinstalling, re pairing the watch with the phone. All attempts lead to a crash to springboard whenever I either end a session from my iPhone or when I start a session from my watch. You guys really dropped the ball with the previous 2 updates..Version: 3.3.3

Great app!Pretty accurate, big fan of the recordings and being able to listen to them. It’s been really helpful, would recommend this app.Version: 3.8.1

Free2useEven though I am only using the free to use app, it is worth the download and can really offer good insight to your everyday/night sleeping. I work rotating shifts eg, am/pm/night. It helps organise a refreshable sleep. -Luke.Version: 3.5.3

Good appOnly been using Pillow for about a week but I’m liking it and will probably upgrade to full version. I’m still testing the accuracy. It didn’t work initially, kept saying ‘insufficient data’, but I hadn’t set up all the permissions correctly in Apple Health and it’s been fine since. I have to start a sleep session on both the iphone (X) and then my watch (s3), and in the morning I have to open the app on my watch so that it sends the data to the phone. Bit clunky and could be improved. I keep the phone right next to me and found it does need to be on charge. Doesn’t drain watch battery too much. I like the AI function because it allows me to make slight adjustments to my wake times. Hopefully the app is learning and becoming more accurate. Seems fairly accurate although I think it misses some brief awakenings. I like the notes function and the mood recorder. I suffer from insomnia and can sometimes think I’ve had less sleep than I’ve actually had - when I wake early in the night I’m sometimes not sure if I’ve slept or not. This app is showing me that I have slept, reducing my anxiety about my sleep and helping improve my sleep. Overall it seems like a pretty accurate, helpful app whose premium version isn’t as expensive as other apps on the market which offer very similar functionality..Version: 3.5.8

Free ModeWish there was more available on Free, premium is rather costly.Version: 3.5.5

Used to be greatWhy can we no longer start a session directly on our watch. It always says to open your phone. It’s so annoying. Used to be able to just start it from your watch..Version: 3.9.83

Allow app to calibrateWas about to delete this app. As I’m absolutely conscious about sleeping details. The comparison between this and my sleeping pattern according to Apple Watch sleep tracker were contrasting initially. So I was close to uninstalling, gave up on the app and stopped using it, hey ho though, for some reason a few months later it calibrated itself to match with the Apple tracking, no longer randomly telling me I’ve been awake at odd hours which was making me paranoid and causing me to actually lose sleep thinking about it. Anyway, outside of this ordeal. I absolutely love this app, bought the premium version. The mood features are good to keep track of what works with a good day/start. The note which I’ve just started to use is so important. Let’s you know what causes you to feel like crap when you wake up. Thanks folks for this app..Version: 4.0.7

Absolutely perfectThis is easily the best sleep tracker app. The enhancements made to include automatic tracking with Apple Watch and the ability to edit and revise your sleep cycle are absolutely spot on. It’s a beautiful example of effective modern design. I can’t think of a single fault any more. They’ve really outdone themselves by listening to customer feedback. For Apple Watch I only have to charge it when I wake up in the morning and before bed at night. I put it on Cinema Mode and Airplane Mode, and automatic tracking still works perfectly and syncs when I disable Airplane Mode in the morning, so it doesn’t use much battery at night. Another huge perk of this app..Version: 3.6.5

New update is almost perfectGot the latest version of the app, and with the rewrite and new UI, it’s a huge improvement to the base app. I see the subscription that only a year ago in the previous reviews, didn’t exist has returned but as a premium member previously this does not impact me. What does impact me and I’m sure many others, is the removal of the classic sleep aids. I have used Thunderstorm every night for the past few years and the new soundscape is just not the same. Would it be possible to introduce a classic sleep aids section as I find it hard to sleep without it. Thanks and keep up the good work.Version: 4.0

Does a great jobLove the app. Paired with my Apple Watch the automated nature of it is 💯. However there are some improvements that would better help me with my sleep. It’s hard to look at the graphs and understand what is good from bad e.g. What is my heart rate suppose to look like compared to my sleep? The information is there, just no way to figure it out. Rolling stats. I had a long flight which screwed up my sleeping patterns, yet weeks later those nights are still factored into my stats, affecting my hours asleep per night etc. it would be nice to set a rolling stats window (for 2 weeks as an example) so weird scenarios like that eventually get ignored. The correct balance of REM/Deep/Light is unknown, what is optimal? If it varies, can other health data (ie exercise) help inform what the balance should be? Or if they are above or below my average? Those are the numbers I look at everyday, I see them move but don’t know if they got better or worse. The total percentage helps, but I don’t know how to manipulate it to get a higher percentage. There is general info in the snooze lab, but I want to understand the mechanics of that number to help improve it, or at least educate myself on what a solid nights sleep looks like. My feedback might seem negative but I seriously love the app, I have my watch on every night now and I am a happy paying customer. Don’t stop improving!.Version: 3.9.63

Ignore the sleep statsEvery single night it says it either took my 0 minutes to sleep or 10 when I know neither was true. It does know when I get up to go to the bathroom at night and the way the snooze is timed seems to be very helpful because it lets me hit snooze but knows when to buzz again so I do t go back into a deep sleep. I don’t believe the accuracy of my sleep quality at all. When I feel well rested I’ll have a low quality number which I consider in the 60’s and every other night it’s in the 70’s. Never higher. I tend to think that it’s because I use an iphone placed next to my pillow and that if I wore a watch it would be more accurate but I don’t know how it works. I wake up at the same time 7 days a week and it has been extremely helpful in discovering what my optimal bedtime is because it’s a bit later than what I thought and it’s right! It is excellent at learning your sleep habits I just don’t think it measures things correctly. Take the sleep stats with a grain of salt but just for the optimal sleep time and the snooze timer, I highly recommend it. Oh and I love the color coded bar chart of my sleep cycle. That is extreme accurate!.Version: 3.5.3

Many useful reporting optionsI’m a bit puzzled this past week as to accuracy of my waking time at the end of cycle as a result, this leaves me in doubt of total accuracy. It had seemed to be working really well for previous month..Version: 3.9.76

Love ❤️ the automatic sleep detectionThe sleep detection is accurate most of the time and I like the user interface update..Version: 4.0.15

Favorite appI’ve used this app for several years now and it’s by far my favorite. I upgraded to the premium version and it’s been pretty accurate and reliable. There are occasional glitches between the watch and the phone and I don’t think it records heart rate, which I wish it did. Also, the music/ringtone settings are not terribly consistent. But overall it’s worked consistently pretty well. I’m happy with the app and though I tried others, this is the one I keep coming back to. I especially love the nap settings. I wish it would give a little bit of leeway for falling asleep time though, because it starts counting down the time as soon as you run the program for napping. I look forward to upgrades and fixes but it’s really good. I definitely recommend! Update: thank you for responding and so fast too!!! The help section was very helpful at solving the issue of HR data not transferring to Pillow. I had no idea. 😇.Version: 3.9.79

Freezes and CrashesBeen using pillow for a couple years now and didn’t regret it when I bought it because it actually worked. Now after some time now it seems the app is just not being kept up to date with software or new iPhones. Had it working with the IPhone 7 Plus 256 Gb and it worked until about 8 months ago. The app started crashing unexpectedly and not loading properly. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it cleared caches and nothin was working. Now I upgraded to the iPhone 11 pro max 256 Gb and the problem still exists. Doesn’t load properly and crashes unexpectedly. The app freezes when you tap on any icon. I now regret paying for it. I have since switched to SleepWatch which is more expensive at $2.99 month but well worth it. Pillow was great when it worked but I do not and cannot recommend this app. Maybe if and ever it’s fixed I can switch back to it. Update: New update released and everything seems to be working fine. Connects to iCloud fine menus load fast and the services offered by the pillow app are great as before as well..Version: 3.9.63

Good Sleep AppOnly used app twice as recently downloaded but it seems good. There is an alarm and several different monitoring modes but some of them are premium features that require payment. Simple to use as well - set the alarm, choose your monitoring mode, press start and go to sleep as normal. The app has soothing natural sounds that play and surprisingly lull you sleep quite quickly. The app senses when you are asleep and turns the sounds off. The alarm is annoying enough to wake you but not enough to make you jump awake and you can also snooze the alarm for an extra 4 mins but shaking your phone or tapping snooze. Premium features look good and seem worth while but I won’t buy just yet..Version: 3.3.6
