XCOM®: Enemy Within for Positive User Reviews

Good but controls worse than previous xcom IOSIn general this is a solid game, and I love the extra features from Enemy Within. However, they seem to have made a control change from Enemy Unknown to this one where clicking on an existing selection(where to move or fire a rocket) is counted as accepting that. In the previous version you had to manually select the appropriate confirm/move button. This is a problem because(understandably) the touch controls have some difficulty selecting the appropriate spot. You can eventually get to the correct spot... unless the game has taken one of your clicks as confirmation. This is bad enough if you do not move to cover, worse if you fire a rocket at your team. The game should go back to the selection process of the previous IOS game, where you had to hit a specific confirmation button..Version: 1.1.0

Good gameThis game is so cool. Graphics are great. The features of this game is good. If only Mods can allow in this game where we can use different weapons and outfits. But anyways this game is good. Hope there will be another XCOM game on ios..Version: 1.4.0

Xcom EW Without a usable cameraI am an avid fan of the XCOM games. I have thoroughly enjoyed every single game (Yes, even Terror from the Deep) in the series, and XCOM: EW is certainly no different. I have 1000+ hrs on the PC version, and have beaten Ironman Impossible Long War. As you can tell, I am somewhat obsessed with this game. I bought this so I can play a bit of XCOM when not at home, and it is a very good port of the PC edition. The only issue I have found is the terrible camera and it's broken auto-adjust (ex: when I want to go up a ladder, and the camera, even when I go up a floor, still thinks I'm trying to jump through a window to get inside). I don't like that you can't zoom in. Other than that, it is a solid port of a game everybody should play, and is definitely worth a buy. 9/10..Version: 1.1.0

Near perfect strategy for iPadLike sci-fi turn-based strategy games and own an iPad? Stop reading now and buy this game. Assuming you have an iPad capable of running this, it's one of the best turn based games on ANY platform, let alone iOS. 2k China have crafted an almost flawless port of the game, I can't honestly pick any differences between this and the pc version, except that this version is cheaper, and I can play it anywhere now..Version: 1.0.0

Great but buggedAll software has bugs, but these XCOM games have more than most. Clearly, the development team need to review their approach to game testing, they clearly don't do enough of it. I started a game with the tutorial mode on, and on the 2nd mission there was a bit where it wouldn't let one of my soldiers make any kind of move- it was seemingly trying to force me to take a shot at an alien, but somehow it wouldn't even let me do this, so progress was totally blocked! I restarted with the tutorial mode off and it's working ok so far. Great to play when it works. My advice to players is TURN THE TUTORIAL MODE OFF AT THE START, EVEN THOUGH THE GAME RECOMMENDS IT!!!.Version: 1.1.0

A FavoriteEasily one of my favorite games, and I don't just mean favorite mobile games. This is a fantastic strategy game. I've enjoyed the franchise on PC for years. The port to mobile is excellent. I prefer it on iPad, but it works surprisingly well on iPhone as well. The strategy involved is entertaining and challenging. Each successful mission feels like an accomplishment. Hours of gameplay for a single run through the missions and great replayability. Can be played in short blocks or long session. I can't say enough good things about this game. The price point is actually quite good as you get the full game that sells on PC for more than twice the cost and no in app purchases or pay to win tactics that usually plague mobile games..Version: 1.4.0

Man this game is fantasticAlright let’s talk about XCOM and for the hate that this game got first of all it has been updated so ignore the reviews that where there 3 years ago second if you have an old device sorry but you have to update your device anyways and yes this game in my opinion is worth the money especially if you don’t have a pc. The game is hard so don’t get frustrated with it just take your time I’ve been playing it for about a year and still haven’t beaten it also it gives you the entire game and it’s expansion the pc version does not do this they just give you the game plus 12 or 15 dollars is pretty cheap for a 40-60 hour game Ps (I am not paid to write this review).Version: 1.4.0

Great, but one problem.Love the game loads and would recommend to anyone. But on the pc version there are mini in-mission cutscenes that aren't in the iOS game, and while this isn't very important, I think it would be amazing to see this transferred over as it adds more interest to the missions..Version: 1.1.0

The Pinnacle of Squad based TacticsThis is the best Turn Based squad tactics game you will find on the store. Still holds up to modern titles after all these years..Version: 1.4.0

Too easy or too hardNormal difficulty is too easy and I get bored one hitting everything to death. Put it on classic and it just becomes frustrating. The aliens can critically hit you from any angle and any distance while you, with a 98% hit expectancy miss every time. I cannot level up my characters because they die in one hit from across the map while in full cover! Too many video cut scenes. I want to play this game, not watch a plane fly back and fourth in three different cut scenes. Some cut scenes can be skipped while others cannot. I do not really care about getting saluted for giving a medal. Why can I not skip that cinematic?.Version: 1.4.0

Excellent update to the originalXCOM was one of my favorite games years ago. I played and replayed the original iOS version. I had my doubts whether the refreshed content would add much to the game, but it does. New enemies, new weapons classes and all the missions have been updated to make an excellent improvement on the original. As far as crashes go, it works flawlessly on my iPad mini 2 and iPhone 5s..Version: 1.1.0

Best strategy game evaI love this game although it is better on the computer this is well worth the money if you cant get it on steam.Version: 1.1.0

A Tactical MasterpieceThe XCOM series has been a favorite of mine when it comes to tactical, turn-based combat. When I purchased this on mobile, I was afraid of the controls being awful or the graphics to look way too outdated. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the controls. Although the swiping camera controls can be difficult at times, using the buttons works great for me. The game feels good to play, and rewards strategical thinking. Not only is there turn-based combat, but also base building and resource management. The choice is entirely up to you: to spend your resources on a newer, better weapon, or to spend them on creating MECs or super soldiers. This game is amazing, even on mobile, and will continue to be one of my favorites..Version: 1.4.0

Good GameAlthough buying the game like an idiot on an iPod this game, from what I've played, is quite similar to the full one on PC or console. It has the features and options of the game but I can't quite understand why it doesn't work for iPods and earlier devices. Its general gameplay is actually fantastic still with one or two lag spikes seen throughout a whole mission even on the early devices. To Some this may seem like a lot but for a slow moving convoy-style player with heavy defense I say this is really good. Also, from my time with mobile games Firaxis really made the graphics high-end compared to most games. Overall, they did amazingly from what I've been able to play..Version: 1.1.0

Awesome game worth the priceThank you for the iPhone 6 updates. I like the shadows. I am thinking you can up the gfx even more or make it a user setting. Love to see atmospheric fx and better textures. Better freedom to rotate camera angles and pan tilt would also make my experience more enjoyable..Version: 1.1.0

Great gameApart from great gameplay, graphics etc the best bit for me on the move is I can dip in for a quick mins and then come back a few hours later and carry on. No messing around saving and loading and carries on from battles underway. Might not sound like much to most people but perfect for a fast lifestyle with little time to play constantly. Plays perfect on iPad mini retina.Version: 1.1.0

Great game. Needs X supportPlayed this game on my Mac for too many hours and now it’s on my iPhone I’m addicted again. It worked well on my 6s and with the X, load times are barely a few seconds. The controls can be frustrating, especially when dealing with elevations or grenade throws (too many times it’s thrown a grenade when trying to adjust aim). Also the fact that it doesn’t maintain the zoom level when you execute a soldier command is extremely annoying when playing on a small screen..Version: 1.4.0

Unbelievably good!!!I loved this game sooooo much, it was an amazing discovery type of game yet balanced out well with sci-fi, action and adventure. I reeeeaaaaalllly want Xcom2 to come out on IOS it would be a great deal to lots of people. Keep up the good work (by bringing Xcom2 to IOS)..Version: 1.1.0

Pretty funSo I’m a sad poor boy who can’t afford a pc but I’ve watched streamers play this game and they can choose between the different specialists like sniper, assault, heavy, ect. You can’t do that in the mobile version. It didn’t bother me to much when I didn’t know that the pc version had an option to choose. The only reason I bring it up is because I recently started a new game and I HAVE 23 SUPPORT SOLDIERS for reference I have 25 soldiers in total. I know the game has been here for awhile and I doubt that A. Anyone will see this comment and B. If the developers did see it I doubt they would change it. I just wanted to vent about it.Version: 1.4.0

Multiplayer crashes the gameIt’s a great game for single player. Very cool! However. It’s getting annoying that the game keeps crashing when on multiplayer. Game says hasn’t had an update in 2 YEARS! Bit disappointed. Ah well. Good game and I hope it improves soon..Version: 1.4.0

Favorite iOS game of all timeXCom is my favourite iOS game of all time. Even years after it’s release I find myself still playing it through. The story line is awesome as are the graphics and gameplay. So many interesting layers to this game..Version: 1.4.0

Please fix the bugsThis is a great game and was working just fine, but recently I've been having issues with the sound, which stops working properly after the first mission following loading, voice over goes as well as button sounds. Please fix. There's issues with the return to base sequence as well, never runs smoothly. Expect better on an iPhone 6+, particularly when it worked previously..Version: 1.1.0

Worth more than $10I don’t leave reviews unless I’m p*ssed so that makes this mean that much more. This is by far the best and most played game I’ve ever purchased. I was weary about spending $10 since I try to keep my gaming budget on the cheap but after knowing the gameplay, this game is well worth more than $10. There are several new missions that are not in the original computer, or Xbox games, with new enemies. The difficulty of the battles only makes me want to beat it more. The graphics are beautiful in how they go into detail of each turn. The catchphrases of the soldiers are awesome and hilarious. This game will take days to complete even if you were playing non-stop, there is so much gameplay. Please 2K, make more games with this strategy, it is truly the best. I would gladly pay more money for more games like this, where is the donation link??.Version: 1.4.0

QualitySeven hours in and no crashes. Excellent game that brings the pc/console experience to the mobile device. Playing on a iPad mini 2 and it's great. £5 is value for money. Only 4 stars because the iCloud save didn't appear on my iPhone, but if you're only playing this one device, don't let that put you off..Version: 1.1.0

Old time GamerJust some context from me before review: 50+ yo gamer - from Amiga 500 and games like D&D Pools of Radiance - then PlayStation Final Fantasy VII (still one of the best games I ever played) to Baldur’s Gate 3, Skyrim, Fallout 1-4 I mention RPGs because while this game is not really an rpg - it is a very good port of an excellent franchise XCOM. Turn based good strategic combat - realistically proportioned characters (not the silly ‘bobble-headed’ character sprites in about 80% of RPGs JRPGs these days. Serious story-driven narrative - you get invested in each of your troopers (which don’t have to die if you are careful and smart) One time payment - zero micropayment- no stupid flashy effects with damage in the thousands like most ‘kid’ games. Get this if you want a game that has consequences - has a nice somewhat serious tone and is rich in gear, research and building up your base without being stupidity bloated with GACHA BS (like 80% of the junk in App Store) Oh, and fyi - Raid Shadow Legends - is NOT an rpg in any sense of the word (keeps showing up when people search for RPGs).Version: 1.4.0

Best game ever!!!Best strategy game!.Version: 1.4.0

Xcom unknown vs xcom withinI originally owned the first version xcom unknown. Great game but had some stuttering bugs that annoyed me when playing. Xcom within has been a night and day difference. I'm playing on iPhone 6s Plus iOS 10.2 and seriously the loading is less than 5 seconds for me between launching the battle and being on the ground. In xcom unknown I'd sit there for 30 seconds or more. Graphics are better, controls are better, I have no issues with going up or down a level (use either two fingers swiping up/down or touch the camera icon and use the up/down icon). I'm more than 8 hours into the game with full power armor, new ships, exalt and weapons. I see the DLC for the game in the options but maps are smaller. To me this is a 9 out of 10. I love strategy and action games, this is fluid gameplay and can get really hard fast if you aren't smart with your strategy. Big difference between the two is the DLC, loading times and bigger battles with more than just aliens, humans too. But I must acknowledge that my experience is likely better because I'm on an iPhone 6s Plus so better processor (dual core) and more ram (2gb ram) than previous devices I've used (iPad 2-3, iPhone 5-6). I recommend but best experience will he with newer devices, with the DLC added this second installment was worth buying again for an experienced adult gamer; supports app switching (love I can take a call and get back into the Frey)..Version: 1.1.0

Good gameplay and has the right XCOM feel to itI’ve got about 3 hours of gameplay on this game and I can tell you it’s really fun and strongly recommend it to anyone who likes turn based strategy game, the only reason I only put 4 stars is that it doesn’t feel like real XCOM graphics, I mean for a phone it’s alright but for XCOM it’s not so good.Version: 1.4.0

ExcellentNot sure why so many people are having problems. Apart from one/two little bugs overall (which I could address by closing and restarting the app), it plays really well on iPad Air 2 with iOS 10. Nice storyline, great graphics, smooth game play, adjustable difficulty. And it's quite long too. Definitely worth the price (bought at the Xmas price cut)..Version: 1.1.0

Great game, better appI was originally very disappointed by this game. The graphics were sad, the loading times were long, and it was missing some features I wanted to see. However, I recently redownloaded it and am blown away. Both on my iphone 7+ and my 2017 ipad pro (12.9) it runs VERY well. I cannot believe how quick the load times are. Also, there are some features present that I don’t remember them having, like armor tint. I am very happy with it. One thing I would like a lot is if they would incorporate keyboard support. Being able to map hotkeys for overwatch and use WASD to move the map around would be huge, as well as a keyboard interface for troop selection and things like that. I enjoy the game but being able to use my keyboard would make this just phenomenal. I understand that is unlikely but it would be nice and I would really appreciate it as a feature..Version: 1.3.0

Best game I have played on iOSNo in-app purchases. Great graphics. Good customisation of characters, make you care about them and feel more involved with the ability for them to upgrade and become better. Decent base building with research department to upgrade weapons and kit and enhance soldiers. Engineering to create items and build mech soldiers. Long game keeps you addicted hard to put down. Very replayable due to the random nature of things. And after first complete you unlock many in game options which can be changed. A MASTERCLASS OF GAME MAKING. MUST GET!!.Version: 1.4.0

Need a code rebuild for ios11No crash after playing a lot on my ipad air. With [quite dead] Age of Booty Tactics they are my fav. But what about continuous improvements e.g. IOS 9 build ?.Version: 1.1.0

Awesome, obviouslyProbably the best thing I've played on iOS. Had Enemy Unknown on an old iPad mini and it WAS a bit buggy, though by no means unplayable (keeping iPad cool seemed to help a lot). Just finished Enemy Within on new iPad mini and no problems at all - except for all the hours slipping away playing this great game!.Version: 1.1.0

Good portXCOM is an amazing game. I have this game on PC and PS3 and thought why not iPad to round out the collection. This is a good port and loads a lot faster (5th gen iPad) than the PS3 version although the graphics are not quite as pretty. One word of warning do NOT play the tutorials. They are full of bugs so turn them off when starting out. The rest of the game seems fine so far..Version: 1.4.0

NO 64-BIT SUPPORTThis is an excellent port of an excellent game, but be aware that it is currently a 32-bit app and will stop working with iOS 11 unless the developer fixes it. This seems unlikely given that the app was last updated in 2014..Version: 1.1.0

Good but needs improvementThe main I didn't like is the fact that you cannot play as the aliens. If this could be rectified so when you selected new game it gave you the option to be the aliens or humans the objectives being the same an example of this is the aliens try to take over earth thus facing of with the humans and also the tea research should be in more depth as in to make the mechtoid you'd have to research the armour then the weapons how to augment the sectoids and the plasma cannon. Thus making the game harder and pleasing the diehard fans and getting a bigger revenue stream. Thank you for your time sincerely -Hamish.Version: 1.1.0

Best iOS game I have playedJust like xcom games on the PC/console and the touch controls are great. Load times are great as well - especially after xcom2 on the PC which had loooooong load times..Version: 1.1.0

Thanks 2k!Thanks for the 64bit update guys. Always been an x com fan and I’m glad you made it possible for me to continue enjoying Enemy Within..Version: 1.2.0

Best game I have played on IPadThe game plays like a fully fledged PC game with graphics to match. I got so addicted I played to 4am one night. Just finished after hours and hours of gameplay and kinda sad it's over. For me there were no bugs at all, perfect smooth play. It's highly tactical so for some gamers it may be frustrating but I loved the challenge and when you get your soldiers levelled and equipped properly it's good to have some payback on E.T.Version: 1.1.0

5 Stars with a caveatIt's one of the best video games ever made. High-level strategy, a compelling plot, and a lot of alien killing. It's also better on every other platform on which it's available. That's not to say this is a bad port. It's better than I expected; I'm just more used to the more agile controls and smoothness on the PC. It's also missing the Slingshot missions and the crappy Psy chick missions, but that's certainly not a deal breaker. It's also lacking the escort Council Missions, but that's not a big deal either (except for missing the best NPC in gaming history of General Van Doorn). Long story short, get it..Version: 1.1.0

Amazing game, butLoving playing this classic on my iPad, can’t quite run the sequel, but happy to play the first one. I have run into a bug, however. The ‘revive’ skill doesn’t appear to work properly. Have confirmed on multiple save files, and after reinstalling the game. Option will not appear when nearby team mate is downed. Your soldier can be standing on top of the squad mate, and the option to revive or stabilize will not appear once the ‘revive’ skill has been unlocked..Version: 1.4.0

Best version of XCOMI’ve been playing XCOM games for a long time, back to the Amiga games and it just feels right on the iPad, the UI works perfectly with touch. So glad to see that the game got transferred so well and avoided the painful mobile/micro transaction rewrite that a lot of companies take. Totally worth the purchase price and looks great. I’ve played through and completed it once, only saw two crashes out of the game towards the end and each time it restored perfectly. Admittedly I didn’t play the tutorial all the way through so I can’t speak to those reported bugs..Version: 1.4.0

Bring on the E.T. Slaughter! As someone who played the original X-Com and almost every iteration of the game since, I have to say this one is amazing. The fact that it is a mobile game is even more remarkable. The game play and content are top notch. The only thing that lets you know your on a phone is the screen size and the lack of a mouse. Now said lack of mouse has caused some combatant movement that I did not intend, and a “undo” option would be great, but that is really my only critique. (You can overcome the problem with slowing down and being extra careful with screen touches.) All in all, this is a great game and well worth the money..Version: 1.4.0

Phenomenally immersive qualityGraphics and gameplay on iPad 2 retina are perfect. I've now finished this game twice. It's repayable. It's difficult and immersive. I hope more developers produce games like this. I find myself looking for new ones every week or so, but nothing compares to this game..Version: 1.1.0

Love this game !Loved playing this game on my computer and love playing it on my ipad. I have little issues placing my squad properly during fights but this is still a five stars to me. Hope you release Xcom 2 on IOS soon !!!.Version: 1.4.0

Excellent port of an excellent PC gameMy title says it all. I have loved the X-Com games for years and being able to play on something like an iPad is awesome. I play on an iPad Air 2 and it runs great. The game is exactly like the PC game; I have really noticed nothing changed or different. The change in controls to accommodate tapping on an iPad works very well. My only complaint is how the game chews up battery power. I simply play with it plugged in. For me , this is not even enough to take away one star. This game rocks and I highly recommend it, especially if you are a fan of this series and like iPads..Version: 1.1.0

Alien Extermination on the go!Just like the earlier ported Xcom Enemy Unknown, the now ported Enemy Within is a faithful, and complete, port that is well worth your cash if you enjoy turn based strategy games. You get everything you would find in the PC Version of this title, save for a slight reduction in graphical quality. Pros: - Faithful Port. No pruned Major Features here! - Same Xcom Turn-Based Strategy Gameplay, but on the Go! - Early Access to several of the more "Amusing" (My opinion) or Tactically Interesting Second Wave Options. (Great for owners of the PC version of Xcom seeking an instantly customizable portable playing experience.) - Running on an IPhone 5, the game runs beautifully with very little lag and fairly quick loading times. Can only imagine newer devices would perform even better than it already does. - Despite reduced graphical quality, the graphics do seem to have been updated slightly between Enemy Unknown's iOS release and this titles release. Cons: - Camera and unit movement can occasionally result in unintended move or Area of effect Attack orders when attempting to pan the camera within a unit's Movement range. Swipe with care folks! - Customization got the short end of the stick. Most Armors only have one Alternate Appearance, and the Mec Suit's overall appearance does not noticeably change over variants (A Brand New Mec will look essentially the same as a Fully upgraded Mec). They did keep those rather dapper Fedora's in though! All in All, if you own Xcom, like Xcom, or want more turn based strategy on the go, this title won't steer you wrong. (As long as you make sure your chosen device is supported by the game of course!).Version: 1.1.0

Read the discription foolsSo you freak out about the game being unplayable and don't read the technical specs. Dude really just read it before you buy anything.Version: 1.1.0

Better on iPad Pro than PCBetter experience on iPad Pro than pc. Amazing. Also 2.99mwas a great price.Version: 1.4.0

Good addition to the original.I've played through the first game on iOS and most of the desktop version as well. A couple minor features missing ('Make items available' for example). But I find it a more enjoyable way to play the game..Version: 1.0.0

Brilliant IOS AdaptationThe original game was fantastic and couldn't get enough of it. This is also an amazing game, I would recommend buying this if you've played the originals on any platform. Graphics aren't as good but that is to be expected, but the overall gameplay is exactly the same. The only thing niggling at me about it though is the lack of the missions exclusively to XCOM: Enemy Within. But again would like to say it is a brilliant adaptation from the originals :).Version: 1.1.0

Great gameAmazing game, needs to be updated for newer devices tho. Also waiting on xcom2 to come to iOS.Version: 1.4.0

Exceptional strategy gameXCOM has real tactical depth in the tense squad battles. At the same time you must make decisions that determine the overall strategy of your campaign. This game grabs your attention. Every action has consequences, and disaster is never far away. The presentation in terms of the graphics, sound effects, music and voice acting is superb, on the level you’d expect when gaming on a console or PC. Easily one of the best, if not the best strategy games I’ve played on the mobile platform..Version: 1.4.0

SighGreat game, but wish I read the latest notes before buying. Clearly states that it won't work on iPad mini 1 so having to play on my iphone 5.Version: 1.1.0

Good but there are still bugsGreat game, great add-ons to Enemy Unknown but there is a massive bug that renders the main story unplayable. I capture the Outsider, get the cutscene with Dr Vahlen and Dr Shen talking about researching it but I get no option to research to Outsider Shard or manufacture the Skeleton Key. It worked fine before so I don't know what happened to make this unplayable in the current update..Version: 1.1.0

Narrative weaker than original***spoiler alert*** Hands down best game I have played on iOS. 5* given for the awesomeness of playing a full mature game on my iPhone. More broadly speaking. This game builds upon the first xcom reboot really well in-terms of new aliens and threat. However simply resetting the narrative (without explanation) and making me repeat the same missions feels lazy and a bit of a let down. Still an awesome game and really entertaining, I can't help but feel someone made the team release early which was a mistake. Really looking forward to the next follow-up. See other reviews for what is great about this game..Version: 1.1.0

Great game despite some issuesThis is a great game well worth buying if you are a fan of the genre. I have been playing it for many hours and will replay again at higher difficulty. As others state, there are a few bugs and some crashes, even on a new iPad Air 2. It also drains the battery faster than anything else so have a charger handy! I played the original XCOM several times and Enemy Within has enough extras to keep,e interested!.Version: 1.1.0

Just GreatIf you have a bad old iPad, have fun getting this game to work. But if you are like me and have a good one, it may be a bit choppy sometimes but it's a great game. I just finished my first playthrough and it was truly amazing. It's just XCOM, it hits you in the back when you just don't want it to. Anyways it is great.Version: 1.1.0

One of the best turned based games periodPros: •Great combat that never lets you feel too powerful. Even when you’re late in the game and feel like you’ve “got it” there’s always something that can, and does, happen to fix that feeling. Whether it’s a surprise enemy you ran into that’s in overwatch that you didn’t expect or your soldier missed a critical shot, you can expect the game to be unrelentingly smart about causing you problems. •Permadeath. Pretty much if someone dies they’re gone for good. You always have the fear of losing your best soldiers; who have sortied over 15 times with 50 kills that turn missions into your favor when they deploy EVERY time you send them out into harms way. That is real fear so easily built into this game. Those are the two main pros for me about this. Cons: •Glitches, ever so minor. Basically things like changing height differences with the camera to get a better view of things causes issues where you want to see the roof of a building but the game shows you the interior instead. Or when you want to see if your character can climb a drain pipe and move to cover with a single action point but the camera only shows you their path inside the building again. Even with that it’s just so minor it does make the game any less great TLDR: download it if you enjoy turn based permadeath games that never stop being challenging but never stop being satisfying at the same time..Version: 1.3.0

4000 BCLadies and gents. This is the best app out of the best apps you could ever find. I've played Xcom ever since the original game came out in 4000 BC. I'm of course not saying I'm that old. What I'm saying is that much like the great pyramids of Egypt, nothing can match its splendor. Xcom is one of the great wonders of the world. It was amazing then and it is amazing now. Right now! You complain that the controls are weird? What!? Get some better fingers people. The controls in the game are the best you can get from a mobile device machine. This takes some major strategy, some major brain usage. I suggest playing the game on CLASSIC and IRONMAN. The frustration might run slightly high when one of your faves die, but when you conquer the onslaught of alien beauties the feeling of success is like that of taking a shower for the first time after a month long hike through the hot rainforests of South America... I... I've never been... I mean I take showers... I'm just talking about the rainforests... the... you know what I mean!.. Why are you reading this!? Buy the game! What!? It's not free you say!? So what! You were gonna make in game purchases with whatever free game you were thinking about playing anyway! Buy it now and you will be on the golden road to bliss. XOXO, The Aliens.Version: 1.1.0

Helping the undecided =DECIDE!--Never crashed or glitched Once! --I have a iPad air2 and I use my wife's newer iPad Mini..same thing= zero issues! ---verdict- the older you're iPad,iPhone,iPod is = the more issues you'll encounter. Just like pic gaming.. ---so with that being said I'll get down to the tablet version of this review. ---I never finished this game or the previous com because it always got boring. But this game is like the prototype perfect game for a tablet because it's a turn based game and there's no rush to do anything. So tablet works better then console imho.. --Graphic The best I've seen so far but as great as the iPad Air 2 is I'm yet to be impressed or blown away I've only bought this, motor and Sid Meir starships and Xoom blows them away. But I'm barely impressed. Tablet isn't a replacement for PC or console. -in my case when I'm away from those..I suspect that applies to all... This game was a lot of fun and found myself sitting playing it long after I shoulda left work or. Wherever... The best way to play com.. Wait for a sale like indie..Version: 1.1.0

One Small IssueI love this game however I found one slight issue. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY SECTOPODS. I shot down a small UFO just after getting my final laser weapons, and there it was, 3 sectopods not even halfway through the game. But apart from that the game is good.Version: 1.4.0

All 5 Stars (EXPLAINED)1. Going into this game as my first XCOM purchase I was skeptical because of the price of the game. The first star is awarded because of the good tutorials and overall help of the game. 2. While I believe this game may be toned a bit from the original which I understand the second star is awarded for the unlimited amount of content this game offers and will never get boring 3. The third star I believe which is an expectation of any game is the smooth play that it offers. I play from an iPhone 7 and have never experienced so much as a frame skip. 4. On top of all this there is a multiplayer system which is fun as hell and adds to the overall quality of the game. 5. While most people would've stopped at 4 I will not rob this game of it's justice. It has prompted me to buy XCOM 2 on steam for $60. While there is nothing worse than losing a major in battle this is probably the most entertaining game on the App Store. I highly recommend this for anybody. I am not even into strategy games. This is my first XCOM but will certainly not be my last. Thank you for taking the time to read my review..Version: 1.1.0

Best game on IPhoneThe title say it all. I own this game on Xbox 360, pc and IPhone..Version: 1.4.0

A lot of fun!I love it! It takes a short learning curve to get used to the controls but afterwards it’s very addictive!.Version: 1.4.0

Still excellent in 2023Addictive gameplay loop with plenty of strategic depth and engaging management options. Really brilliant game and a solid port. The graphics are toned down from the PC version, and it would be nice to have an update for modern devices. The amount of content for a £5 game that runs with no issues is laudable.Version: 1.4.0

64-bit version? (Edited 64 bit support is coming)There is nothing within the app description about whether this app will be updated to run on 64-bit devices. I looked on the 2K website and forum and couldn't find any info. If not, this game will be abandonware and everyone who updates their iDevice to the next major iOS firmware update will no longer be able to play this game. Giving the app 3 stars. Will raise to 5 if the app gets 64 bit support. Will lower to 1 star if it doesn't. Edit: just found out that 64 bit support is coming. Changed rating to 5 stars. I can now wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys strategy games. Particularly turn-based tactical squad games. So when is XCOM 2 WoTC coming to iOS 😋.Version: 1.1.0

Is it compatible with IOS 13.xI have written to support a few weeks ago with this question but no reply! I just want to make sure i can still play it if upgrading to 13.x I have to say that it is still buggy, although minor annoyances (e.g. shiv starts shooting blanks in the middle of gallop; MEC stopped being upgradable despite all the research done (fixed with a re-download of the game; and others...). It is still quoted today as one of the best strategy games for the iPad, despite its age. I love it for being able to play it with the need for internet. Hoping it will not go the way of my ever fav game “Lord of the Rings : Middle Earth Defence” by GLU..Version: 1.4.0

Runs smoothly and plays well!I’m frankly shocked that this game runs so well on my iPad Air 2 while still looking rather good. Of course, closeups and certain visual flairs reveal how downgraded the graphics had to be in order get a high level of performance, but so far the trade offs seem well thought out. Controls are good with movements and abilities requiring a separate button to confirm the decision (no accidentally sending a soldier out to die or wasting a headshot because of touch controls). The soundtrack fails to disappoint and customization options for soldiers while diminished due to graphics quality being lower are still available and fun to tinker with. It’s the whole game for your tablet! Xcom 2 had some cool quality of life features, but don’t let the existence of a sequel dissuade you from giving the first title a shot. It’s super fun..Version: 1.4.0

Nicely done! When I first played this game on the PC, I thought this would make an awesome Mobile game because all you are doing is just clicking. That is what lead me to this game, and what an amazing job 2K and Firaxis did! It was an audacious step to bring Xcom back from the dead, and to me it paid off. The gameplay is streamlined and dynamic while still maintaining that feel that Xcom is supposed to give you. You always feel hopelessly outmatched, but it does it so that you still feel a sense of accomplishment even when retreating from a botched mission, and even more so in victory. Even in a game where there are no set characters the soldiers develop their own personality through the awesome gameplay. Even the sky ranger developed its own feel to me. However Where this game excels is in the gameplay, and although there are a few bugs here and there, they have mostly been addressed. To the developers I say well done and thanks for having the courage to market a turn based strategy to our FPS generation, but you better not slouch on Xcom 2!.Version: 1.1.0

Please Update Camera ControlsIt’s XCOM. On your phone. It’s a perfect little time killer throughout the day, as the game picks right back up where you left it as long as you don’t completely terminate the app. My one and only gripe about this port is the camera. Please, for the love of the Council, add more camera options. The current sensitivity gives me Tinder flashbacks with all the swiping that’s required to move it in any meaningful way. I want to be able to drag the camera at a speed and distance that matches my finger’s movement. And I’d like an option that allows me to keep the camera zoomed out when I switch soldiers or end one’s turn. Constantly zooming the camera out before moving soldiers is bothersome. These little improvements would greatly increase what is already a stellar experience..Version: 1.4.0

OutstandingThis is an outstanding strategy game that plays wonderfully on IOS, it's so intuitive. You will lose hours of your life playing it through and then again once you have finished it. This is easily the best game I have played on iPad, despite the occasional bugs (crashes occasionally) and was fairly expensive. Still I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone that likes this genre, you most definitely will not be disappointed. Brilliant, look forward to the next one..Version: 1.1.0

Xcom reviewAmazingly well ported to mobile. My only struggle is camera control but otherwise game runs beautifully..Version: 1.3.0

Almost amazingThis is such a fun game although there are some minor lag and glitches running on the iPad 4. I would give 5 stars if it was fixed. Keep up the good work, thanks..Version: 1.0.0

Worth every pennyVery polished, runs like butter on an Air 2 :-) Very addictive, perhaps the best turn based RPG I've played..Version: 1.0.0

Excellent turn-based game!Enjoying this game a lot..Version: 1.4.0

Where is XCOM 2I downloaded this game recently and starting to play again, love every minute I spent on it. I played XCOM:EU and then XCOM:EW, they both excellent port from the pc version. Don’t listen to others I never have problem for the control although I never play XCOM on console or pc version. Fantastic game, when can we enjoy the XCOM 2? Can’t wait!.Version: 1.4.0

Soooooo much better that Enemy UnknownGot Enemy Unknown first. Was extremely basic. This one is fantastic! Love it. So much more things to do..Version: 1.1.0

Most Fun on iPad EverI definitely recommend this game. There are very little games to play that has the value of XCOM:EW. However, there are some issues with this version. - On a screen smaller than an iPad mini, this is going to be frustrating, like typing with a fat hand. - As expected, since this is an iOS game, the settings available is reduced by a lot from the PC version. - The 'double tap to confirm action' system for things such as rockets is very easy to accidentally trigger, precision is very important, and this should have been in the options. - XCOM Heroes (Easter egg) from the console and pc are not ported over. - No option to play Enemy Unknown. This would be a problem because Enemy Unknown isn't sold separately. - Game reloads itself when you go to another app for a few minutes. Since I am new to the game, I find looking on the wiki impossible to do during a mission.Version: 1.1.0

Great Mobile PortI am a huge fan of XCOM: Enemy Unknown and its expansion, Enemy Within, on the PC. When I saw a mobile version for my iPhone 6, I had to give it a shot, especially for $10. While they did have to cut a few of the features due to hardware and storage limitations, the tactical and base building areas of the game are pretty close to the original. Most of the cuts they made were to soldier customization, tactical cinematics, fewer maps(I think), etc. The core game and the majority of its features are still there and, more importantly, they're fun. I was very surprised how well it runs on my iPhone 6. Load times are very short and the interface is very well done for a touch screen game that has this much depth. Despite my large fingers, I'm able to run through missions without any mistakes caused by the UI. If you enjoyed the new XCOM games, you will more than likely have a lot of fun with the mobile version that you can play anywhere and fits in your pocket..Version: 1.1.0

Great game but some issuesA decent port of an excellent game. Pros- 1.runs quite well on my device (iPad Air) 2.decent graphics for an iOS game 3.gameplay almost identical to the PC or PS3 ports 4.awesome game if you like tactical turn based shooters Cons- 1.semi-frequent game breaking bugs for example at the end of a mission 1 alien can be stuck in some corner that requires a 10 minute search to finally kill, or when launching satellites in response to a request the satellite doesn't actually get placed over the country yet takes your satellite uplink capacity. 2.rare crashes 3.bad control scheme, even with the largest apple device I feel like I frequently tap one space but some adjacent space is registered Suggestions- Fix as many game breaking bugs as possible. Optimize the game more or decrease graphics quality. (No matter how "good" it looks it will never be as good as the PC port I would much rather have the graphics be sub par and have awesome frame-rates than have as many pixels be jammed onto my screen as is possible and get low/fluctuating fps) Overall I think it is a decent port of an awesome game that could use some bug fixes. It is nice for long car rides but I would still much rather play this on my PS3 or PC..Version: 1.1.0

XcomGood game but the crashes Can't play it but but were it works it good.Version: 1.1.0

Classic XCOM - unpolished but good. The gameplay is second to none - an exact replica of what we see in the native PC versions. As for a few things that could be improved upon - the in game keyboard/screen obviously is NOT updated for later iOS devices and versions. The screen is scaled down and the menus for iOS not accessible during play - the game obviously hasn’t been updated for years. With an update this could be remedied. Would love to see XCOM2 on iOS at some point too..Version: 1.4.0

AmazingIncredibly interesting game in all areas. Great story, interesting tactics. However when doing the psi testing towards the end of the game, the whole game crashes and I can't keep playing. Please fix!.Version: 1.1.0

Awesome gameLove this game so much ... brings back memories from the old days of UFO ... easily the best game on iPad and looks good on the iPad Pro 12.9 ... can be a bit buggy and would be good if they updated it but overall a great game ... hopefully they bring out xcom 2 on the iPad.Version: 1.1.0

GreatVery fun game. As soon as I saw the price dropped I bought it instantly, the previous price was a bit high.Version: 1.1.0

Please improve the graphics, I have an IPad ProPlease improve the graphics, I have an IPad Pro. The graphic could be way better..Version: 1.4.0

Top 5The only thing I want that isn't already a part of this ludicrously amazing game, is for there to be the sound of splashing when units move through water. I'm sure I could nit-pick and find a few more. Yes, it crashes occasionally. Yes, the camera angle can affect how easily you direct movement of troops, but you can change the perspective, so that is a minor annoyance. Some of the multitude of reasons these small trifles do not detract from this gem are: strategy in a myriad of facets of the game, fantastic graphics, and the replay factor is unparalleled. Engrossing, and easily one of the best ports to iOS I have ever played..Version: 1.3.0

Rock solid iOS implementationI’ve never had a problem with it, and it’s as playable as my PC version. The ability to alter seed values, etc, means you can play over & over, great value for money. I’m addicted again. Remember, those who dash, die ☠️, those 👽 are unforgiving..Version: 1.4.0

BrilliantEven after years on iOS, it's still one of the most engaging and replayable tactical games on the platform..Version: 1.3.0

Plz another game like xcom 2Please make a Xcom 2 this game is great I think the price should be lowered a little but the rest is great the only problem is you don’t know what to do once the story is finished oh and some bug fixes like I lost a mech to a floor when he walked on it.Version: 1.4.0

Best iOS Game - No Longer WorksOne of the things I was most looking forward to doing on my new iPhone 11 Pro Max was revisiting this game and enjoying it again. I’m extremely disappointed and quite stunned to find that it doesn’t run properly. It just hasn’t been updated to fit on the new iPhone X / 11 style screens and as a result you can’t see the whole game. What a shame. There is no other iOS game of this style and quality and my recent internet searches can find no signs of XCOM 2 being released on iPhone so I guess that’s it - no more playing XCOM. Funny thing is that I bought XCOM 2 for my PS4 but never played it as I much prefer it as a portable game!.Version: 1.4.0

Great game 😅Except the GOD DAMN CRYSILIDS, WHY MUST THEY EXIST.Version: 1.4.0

Console Worthy Strategy GameI first played XCOM on PlayStation, and was highly impressed by how little is lost in its journey to iPad, the full story is there, the graphics are amazing, only a few maps are missing but I can't recommend this game more highly, it is very unique and well suited to iPad 😍.Version: 1.1.0

No "restart mission"?This is a great conversion of a great PC game. It is fast, the graphics and gameplay are perfect, and only rarely do I select the wrong unit or send them to the wrong square. However there is one critical function missing; "Restart Mission". This was implemented in the PC version and for some bizarre reason, despite the game autosaving at the beginning of each round, it *doesn't* automatically create a save for the beginning of each mission. Which means that if you want to restart the mission you better hope you remembered to make a manual save, or else restart wherever in the *last* mission you remembered to make a manual save. Please fix this!.Version: 1.4.0

Baddest AssestXCOM rules..Version: 1.2.0

Still going strongXCOM EW still works well on my iPhone 14 and my M2 iPad. Even after all this time it is still one of the best games on the platform.Version: 1.4.0

Everything I've ever wanted!I've recently bought all the xcom 2 dlc and was wishing the game was portable and while looking up similar mobile games I found out that they remade the first game and its expansion for mobile! It's got everything I wanted! Pretty much the only game I play now and worth every penny and even a few more! Best mobile purchase I've ever made!.Version: 1.4.0

Great gameBetter than the original and I loved the original.Version: 1.4.0

Very nostalgic with a modern twistHave to admit, I was apprehensive about this one. Having played the original 90s games and loving them. But they have managed to capture the feeling of those old games. Just with better graphics and a much better interface. Made even better by not having any in game purchases, ads or annoying pop ups. If you’re a fan of the original game, this won’t disappoint..Version: 1.4.0

Best iOS game to date!In my previous review I wrote that I rate games by playing time only. My playing time reflects everything that matters to me. Not graphics, bells, whistles, songs, but how long the game keeps me entertained. As an XCOM neophyte I had a steep learning curve. The in game tutorial was the best I could ask for. It was optional, not forced, and the game was as 'unlocked' immediately as it would ever be. Cxms game had a incredible false ending that caught me unawares and led to a new story arc and many hours of play time. My only caveat is that this game is a battery killer and it seems to heat up my iPhone 5 64 GB. Plan accordingly or this is a nuisance. This version seemed rushed to capitalize on popularity and contains more snags than the original. I was caught in a loop at the Chryssalid wharf and had to restart game and iPhone to play. I had to start at a prior auto save and redo the entire mission..Version: 1.1.0

Retains the feel of the PC versionI have an iPhone 6+ w/ 64 GB if that matters. This is the first and only game I've installed. It runs flawlessly. That said, I've only played the tutorial and only have 8 hours of gameplay, so I can't give a detailed review but I did want to offer a counterpoint to the "buggy as hell" reviews. I played the original xcom games on a PC back in the 90s and this retains that same feeling of tenseness and satisfaction. My only complaint is that I wish I had more screen real estate, but of course I'm not sitting in front of my 24" monitor so it's a silly complaint. Nonetheless, it does make situation awareness a challenge. Still, it's the same addictive game I remember so fondly. Best $7 I've spent in awhile. Update: I just completed my 4th full campaign. That's about 2 solid months of playing. I've had all of one (1) crash. When I restarted from the crash I added an action so as not to trigger it again and it worked like a champ. If I could give it an strange star if do it..Version: 1.1.0

5 stars even with the bugsChess with guns and aliens,, not expensive with the size of the game , well worth it The bugs I have found , ipad3, rarely just closes, but more often the sound skips about voices stutter and it drains the battery fast, turning my pad into a hand warmer same with iPhone 5s. but on the iPad Air 2 no problems at all runs fine A1. More please.Version: 1.1.0

Sensational GameI've just finished, I don't even know, 100 hours of playing this? I've had to temporarily delete it so I can get some work done. Tactical, thoughtful, atmospheric, addictive, bug-free, brilliant game. Worth twice the price, and once you've bought it you're not bugged for anything more. Loyal to the original XCOM concept- move your differently armed soldiers about- and runs with everything a modern phone has to offer. Best game about if you like strategic games with added excitement. If I had to give one criticism, it's too hard at anything but easy level!.Version: 1.1.0

I have loved the X-Com games since the 90sThis game is great. Game system quality and I bought it even though I own it on Xbox and pc. I should have reviewed this long ago but I just don’t review things enough. The one problem I have is I can’t play the game and listen to my podcasts. I know you haven’t done any updates in forever but if you could fix that one thing it would get me to play it more. I like to learn and laugh when I play games. I can’t imagine it would be s hard thing to fix. However that is the only problem I have. It’s just a big one because it keeps me from playing it. I love the game and I end up just playing dumb games because I can listen to stuff while playing them. I know I’m just one person asking for this fix but I myself have payed so much for these games over the years. I think I’ve owned every version of X-Com made. Some I’ve owned more than one copy of. TFTD twice, Apocalypse twice, and enemy unknown for three different systems. Anyone who likes these new ones should go check out the old ones. The graphics aren’t so great but the games are awesome. Anyway thank you for the great games. I’m playing X-Com 2 on PS4 now. Keep up the good work and keep’em coming. Maybe make one more like the old school ones with a whole bunch of solders and time units. Just make it look pretty but other than that just like the old ones. Please. Anyway thanks again..Version: 1.4.0

Allow me to tell you.......about the 90s. Amiga - what a great machine. Fills me with nostalgia. Top 3 games? I would say, Cannon Fodder....SWOS...XCOM. All three relegated to my memory hole. Until about 2 weeks ago. Could they really be talking about a remake of XCOM as I remember it...? Turns out, yes. And what a success it is. I spent about a week reading reviews before taking the plunge and downloading for my iPad (mini 2). I never knew an iPad game could be so enjoyable. To cover a few points raised in other reviews here: - bugs. Thankfully I haven't come across any yet - on tutorial mode or otherwise. Been playing many hours on both too. - playability: I haven't tried it on PC or Xbox yet (I will though!). It's fantastically intuitive on iPad. - gameplay: so so satisfying. Hard and emotionally scarring when your named soldiers - soldiers you've taken into battle and grown further attached to - get smoked. It's a beautiful blend of action v strategy v management v tactics. Best game on the App Store? I have no idea. But if there is a better one out there, please please tell me about it.....Version: 1.1.0

Love the game, hate the bugIPhone 5S. Awesome game. Played it through without any major bug issues. After beating the single-player mode, I started on multiplayer. Very cool feature. I was going along fine for a few games, then suddenly hit an error message in the middle of several games. I can still log in and see the games I have in progress, but tapping on any game just gives me the same error message: "Connection failed. Please retry later." It's been this way for several days. So frustrating! I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it didn't change a thing. I have no idea what to do. Given what I payed for this game (and for its predecessor), I'd like it to keep working!.Version: 1.1.0

HOW IS THIS A MOBILE GAME!?This game has some of the best graphics games have to offer. This was definitely worth my money. It is a long game but never gets old! I would recommend it for 8-well older years. So if your looking for a good game get this Now! it also doesn't need wifi for such an amazing game! BRILLIANT!.Version: 1.1.0

Not learning from previous mistakesYou'd think that releasing a game (xcom: enemy unknown) with such TERRIBLE instability would make it critical to improve experience the next release. Alas, after crashing 3 times BEFORE the game has even started, then again after the first and only mission, it's clear that the developers care more about getting your money than about the product. Just a horrible experience all round..Version: 1.1.0

Best iOS game I ever downloaded.I paid for this game before COVID… and here we are April 2023 and this is hand down still best best iOS game I’ve ever played. If you ask me it’s better than on Xbox and pc. Call me crazy, but it feel perfect on my phone. Yo be fair I didn’t play the second one yet… but I liked this one more anyway. So, if you’ve never played this game or thought about getting it. Do yourself a favor… I don’t even write reviews, but after picking it back up… It’s just as tight as the first time I played it. Im buying the second one just to support them for doing such a good job on this one..Version: 1.4.0

AmazingThis is EXACTLY... THE full version and it is amazing... Well worth the money. But I find it hard to find a multiplayer match. I'm not sure if there aren't many players on or it's just hard to find a match because I have very good internet so not sure but would be great if I could find a match. Thanks for this amazing expansion! Your the best 2K!!!!!.Version: 1.0.0

Amazing with minor flawsMy only real complaint is about the functionality when attempting to select or deploy assets to other levels. On an oftentimes complex map with areas reached by ramps, climbing, or jumpjets, with competing layers, it became a matter of trying to fight with the interface to get the correct location selected on the correct height before moving a soldier to that location. This was such a consistent problem on the iPhone11, despite the large screen size to work with, also the pinch and rotate commands often got confused. But mainly it’s the other issue that nagged my gameplay. Maybe if I was playing on a desktop these would not be issues at all. Otherwise this game outperforms while paying homage to its Xcom predecessors. The classic from the 90s, before they went underwater, is the best. This latest version does many things even better without dropping anything from the original style. Many ThanX for this wonder!.Version: 1.4.0

Need to go on earlier devicesYou should make this game be able to run on earlier devices because I just got an iPad mini 1 and like it didn't work cause it's too old for it but I could get it on my phone but it ends up taking up 3.3 gbs out of 16 so that doesn't really work that well on my phone cause all my contacts and texts are on there and work that also takes up a bunch of space but otherwise it's a great game much more choice over enemy unknown with meld with the gene lab and the cybernetics lab.Version: 1.1.0

The future of mobile gaming,I wonder if Apple could have foreseen being able to play a game like this on a mobile device when they put out the first smartphones and iPods. Just finished it after about a month and tons of hours gameplay. Exilerating plot and graphics, Palm sweating turn based battles with zoom into over shoulder view, psionics, project management, mechs, a squadron that you become personally invested in, genetic mods, the moral and horrible considerations of amputating soldiers to turn them into mechs...if like me you've never played this game on a console, it could well blow your mind. Playing on IPad Air 1 the sound is glitchy. The game is so superlatively, outrageously amazing that it doesn't matter a jot. What the hell am I going to do now I've finished it..Version: 1.1.0

Little sadEither though I have enough storage to download it won’t let me any tips to fix it.Version: 1.3.0

Immersive, thoughtful, great graphics.....amazing!I wasn't sure what to expect, as I played the original UFO: Enemy Unknown years ago, and didn't know how that sort of game-play, with modern graphics would work for a mobile game. But this game exceed my expectations (hence the 5 stars)! First off, this is a fully functional game. There are no annoying in-app purchases, ads, etc. So the price is absolutely justified. You get hours, upon hours of game play. I don't know how long I spent playing this game, but it was definitely far more than any other mobile game I've played (people seem to say that it takes about 40-50 hours). This isn't your run-of-the-mill toilet seat game. It requires thought, foresight and tactics. The amount of options you have to choose from is fantastic (weapons, research, defences, building, fight options, etc.). Even when you beat the game once, other options will unlock, encouraging you to play again. There are multiple plot twists throughout, which will definitely keep your attention. I haven't really experienced any of the bugs which other people are reporting, but I may have been lucky. I think that I only experienced one crash in all of my play time. There werea couple of times when I had to wait for screens to load longer than expected, but that didn't happen very often. All-in-all I love this game and can't recommend it enough..Version: 1.1.0

Tactical, intense, alien-fighting funThis game is my introduction to the XCOM universe. I'm very impressed with the look and sound of it, and the depth of it overall. The controls are a little confusing at times, especially in tutorial mode where the happy path is not always obvious on a "tiny" screen like the iPhone 5s's. But they could be worse. The game itself, especially the story, is INTENSE. I've already lost one game, and geez, talk about the agony of defeat. Soldier after soldier biting the dust. Then the grand finale in the situation room… as it slowly shuts down, the body language of the section chiefs gathered there is just heartbreaking—the numbness from defeat, the dread of what the future holds. Holy moly. What are you trying to do, game, make me kill myself? 😊 But I'm going in for another try! That's how good this is..Version: 1.1.0

Love the game, could be improvedThe game is great for the iPad, tho there are some shadow glitches and I wish there are more ways to customize control. For example an option to disable the double tap to move. It’s really easy to misclick it.Version: 1.4.0

5 Star Game with 1 Star Battery UsageXCom: Enemy Within within itself is a stellar reimagining of the original which tones down the difficulty for more modern gamers but keeps it high enough for veterans of the series. However, this is something you can only experience for a half hour at a time before your battery running out. Games with twice as good graphics past for twice as much time, yet Xcom seems to make running down your battery its objective..Version: 1.1.0

Fun but one feature is annoyingLoved this game and have yet to play the sequel XCOM 2 but the only off putting thing is that my phone music can’t play over the app..Version: 1.2.0

EXCELLENT !!!The game is amazing. A lot of fun and very strategic. PLEASE make another one. Also please make “enemy unknown” available in Canada. I’d be happy to purchase it and support your game and it’s devs. Cheers..Version: 1.4.0

SAVED!Van not thank 2K enough for saving this bonafide classic for future iOS generations. The way this looks and runs on an iPad Pro is better than XCOM2 WOTC runs on a modern rig. This game was made for retina resolution and touch screen graphics. I have clocked 1400 XCOM 2 hours, and I am now rediscovering this one all over again. There’s just something magical marrying the XCOM gameplay with a touch UI. Just a perfect gaming experience..Version: 1.3.0

A brilliant game with a poor end to campaignI thought everything but the end of this game was fantastic. I had created and nurtured my character for ages, to have them die at the end after just acquiring the best move feels more than a little underwhelming. It would be great if there was a sort of endless campaign mode, if those agents tried to come back or something..Version: 1.4.0

Amazing game got betterSuch an epic game, easily the best game on iOS. It's good on an iPhone plus, but it's epic on an iPad. If you like turn-based strategy, this is it. No game has managed to surpass it, not even xcom 2. Also touch interface makes this game MUCH better than the pc version, at least on iPad..Version: 1.4.0

Still the reigning champion...Easily the best game on the App Store in terms of value for money with content and a polished console-quality game. Please optimise for iOS11 and the iPhone X screen. The game occasionally crashes during deployment. Also trying to play your own music whilst in-game causes massive issues with freezing and sound effects not triggering..Version: 1.4.0

Buy itThis is sooo much better than most 4-5 star games on mobile devices. You should own it, play it and the challenge yourself on the classic level and beyond. Far better than your commonly found "free to play" 5 star games. Turn based strategy at its best. A glitch or two are less than a niggle..Version: 1.1.0

Best app out thereI'll be forthcoming, I'm biased. I've been a fan of the XCOM franchise since I played the original on the PC. That said, this really is a great game. So much that I've not only purchased it on the Xbox 360 (both versions), but also on my kindle and now my iPhone. In an age where nearly every app out there, let alone "strategy" selections, are littered with in-app purchases it's refreshing to pay the one time charge and just enjoy myself. I don't even feel angry that I've bought this game 4 times over now, I'm happy my contributions have helped bring about XCOM 2. Now it's time to get a PC capable of playing it..Version: 1.1.0

Update for iPhone X+Update for iPhone X+ please XCOM 2 is too expensive.Version: 1.4.0

Best Turn Based Strategy & Tactics Game! 3 Years Running!Gentlemen and Ladies, I would like to applaud the hard work by the grunts in the back rooms at Feraxis Games for updating this for the 64-Bit Appocolypse! It would have been a true shame to lose this game. This game is a interesting take on the classic kill all the aliens games out there. It became genera defining. You will have to equip your soldiers on the strategic layer of the game. While you are engaged in tactical combat on the ground repelling aliens where ever possible. You will have to make meaningful decision. Somethings will not go as planned, and good soldiers will die, but make sure it was not in vain..Version: 1.2.0

Love the game, but a glitch make it crashI'm currently on another play though and have encountered a glitch that causes it to crash back to the home screen, otherwise a perfect game, hopefully the next iOS 10 update will fix.Version: 1.1.0

Ios11 update! Thanks!! Awesome!!Thanks.Version: 1.3.0

Absolutely stunning gameI download this game every now and then to replay through the campaign, and every time I play it I just get addicted. The game has great customisation and physics. There are not many bugs and game crashes are not as frequent as they used to be. The turn based combat in the game is good quality and the maps are perfectly sized. I recommend you get this game if you love strategic turn based games and a challenge..Version: 1.4.0

Totally addictedThis game beats all the others games that I've ever played I love the story line of this game and how I am able to choose the gear that I want to equip on my soldiers plus the graphics are cutting edge.. I could just go on and on I love every thing about this game except one thing developers please make more games coming And please make them available for Australian citizens. For you guys that read reviews I totally Recommend you purchase this app if you like shoot em up games as much as I do because I'm hooked on (xcom enemy within) and also if the developers bring another game/App like this out that would be so awesome.Version: 1.1.0

Great game by way too hard for casual play.Super hard deeper into the game to the point of losing enjoyment..Version: 1.4.0

Best gameThis game is soooo flippen good and I don't know what everyone else is talking about with the bugs and the crashes because I experienced none. U should get this game..Version: 1.1.0

WoozaaBest game app. Although turn based the story and combat scenes add an extra dimension. Well worth the purchase. An expansion pack or two would be sweeeeeeeeet. Addicted to killling Aliens..Version: 1.4.0

Great expansionNot exactly new, more like an expansion to the original. Well worth the price, though. By far my favourite iOS game, and I like lots of different kinds of games. Super fun tactical game. iPad Air 2. Not a single crash. Not sure what people are on about. Trying to run fancy new games on older hardware, I expect. Edit: updated for iOS 11! So thankful that I get my favourite game back. Works fantastic on 12.9” iPad Pro. Unlike many games, the graphics are high Rez beautiful on big iPad. Buttery smooth, the best XCOM tablet experience yet..Version: 1.3.0

Near perfection! This follow up game is, extraordinarily, even better than the first. I've been into strategy games since the 80s and I can honestly say that this is in my top 5 of all time. The amount of gameplay you get for your money makes it a bargain and I've eagerly played it again several times on completion. Quite simply BUY IT!!.Version: 1.1.0

Worth the moneyVery good game. Great graphics and decent game mechanics. Fairly addictive. Still have a bit of glitches here and there...one time, game crashes and I wasn't able to reboot it. But overall, of glitches fixed...happy to have it on my IPhone..Version: 1.1.0

Amazing game no bugsI own this game on PS3 and Xbox360. The app version is no different. Amazing gameplay as original consoles. Bugs must be on slow machines I am playing on IPad Air 2 with no probs. few surprises in store for those used to original console games. Well worth it. HD graphics just like home. If you're playing on a phone then hey why waste your eye site and memory?.Version: 1.1.0

One of the best games ever made...... has been ported almost perfectly. If you want a review of the game, simply look it up online and you will find the most reputable review sites have been raving about this classic for years. This particular variation - XCOM Enemy Within - features a few options and a bit of extra content which improve on the original but otherwise it has just had a graphical upgrade to meet modern standards. The port itself isn't perfect, with a few graphical glitches and typical irritations which come from a touchscreen interface. But for the most part it suits being an iOS app down to the ground, with the pick up/put down style of gameplay being ideal for a tablet and little frustration from the loss of a controller input. If you are looking for a game which is engaging and great value, and most importantly nothing like the in-app-purchase rubbish that fills the App Store these days, then your dreams have been answered. The game already existed, all they had to do was port it, so your value for money is significantly higher than if it had been created from the ground up. Basically a must-have if you are into quality gaming and the iPad is your platform of choice for entertainment on the move..Version: 1.3.0

Works greatThe game is playable. Feels a bit easy on normal difficulty after mid game. Encountered just one bug that was resolved after restarting phone. 100% recommend. Decided to write this after finishing a playthrough..Version: 1.4.0

Perfect Adaption for IOSThe flawlessness with which it has been transposed is nothing short of remarkable. If you loved the console version, you will not be disappointed. The developers hit a home run with this adaptation..Version: 1.4.0

Xcom 2 next plz...Would pay extra for war of the chosen... Would pay even more for long war 2... Would pay £100 for long war of the chosen 😍 You made this master piece so you could definitely pull those off ^ 🙏🙏🙏.Version: 1.4.0

Excellent gameI think this is the best strategy game I have so far in a mobile device, Really wish to have XCOM 2 on the iOS as well. Because I rather play it on Portable device on my way to work than turn on the console at home..Version: 1.1.0

Best game everOnce you finish normal gameplay, go play multiplayer it will test your skills. Hopefully Xcom 2 will come to iOS..Version: 1.1.0

Shockingly, this game mostly works on iPad proYeah yeah I know I’m 8 years late with this review. I’m just here to say, this remains to this day one of the best PC-style games on iOS. Also, it mostly does works on my big fancy new iPad Pro. It looks pretty good too! There’s a couple drawbacks, but if you’re reading this you’ve probably played the game on PC already and are looking for a mobile hit of sweet sweet XCOM, so I’m sure your brain will fill in the sound effects. Because there won’t be any. Sound worked perfectly well the first play session but then never came back on. Also, save scummers of the world, this is our time to shine because the game will sometimes freeze during in-game cutscenes (I suspect another sound issue). Reloading a save will get you through. The one bug that does really kill the game is the Sectopod jump animation (or sound!). So you just need to kill those before they get a chance to jump. Easy peasy! Anyways I got to the traditional endpoint of the game, where by long and sacred tradition you can’t go through the final door of the final level because you missed an alien cowering I the dark 6 rooms and three miles ago. So, once again, an exact replica of the PC experience! 5 stars..Version: 1.4.0

Best game for iOS bar noneIf you are reading reviews and are deciding whether to go for XCOM or not, I would say give it a go. It is turn based so can be as demanding or casual as you want, ideal for a quick 5 mins or a long journey. I personally love this game and highly recommend it, the story alone is worth it. The game itself is excellent - this is a must for any strategy fans. Bottom line: this is as close to console quality as I have seen so far on the iPad, including the likes of GTA..Version: 1.1.0

Amazing game but buggedThis game is, in my opinion, the best game on the iPhone. It's absolutely fantastic. I'm about 50 hours in and the end is still not insight! Can't recommend it enough. But it is bugged. If you start the game with the tutorial it has a catastrophic bug a few missions in where your character can't make a move in game. Other reviews also found this. I'd still recommend playing the tutorial if you haven't played the game before but bear in mind as soon as you hit the bug you'll have to restart the whole game on a new save (and turn off the tutorial to get past it). Also the missions crash more and more as you go through the campaign. I guess I'm about two thirds the way through the campaign right now and every time I finish a mission it crashes as it takes you back to the mission control. Every time. You then have to reload the game and play from the last auto save point (which is your last move from the just completed mission). Also I now seem to get crashes as the mission loads as well. It's frustrating but only takes a couple of mins to reload and make the last move again. The game is fully playable though. This is the best console game you'll get only iPhone and I'd totally recommend it! (Forgetting the bugs). I'm on an iPhone 6+..Version: 1.1.0

Best game in App StoreUpdate: any problems people have with crashing I suspect is due to user error or device error. This game is legit and the best of its kind by far. The different ways to level up your base and troops really engrossing, and allows replayability that feels new and different. I still can't believe it's an iOS game. I have played countless games on my iPhones and iPad over the years, and this is hands-down the best game I've ever played. It is a console/pc game ported perfectly to iOS. Truly engaging, challenging, and fun. Can't believe it's on a handheld device. Standing O to the devs on this one! 5 stars? Nope...10!! Get. This. Game..Version: 1.1.0
