AT&T Mobile Transfer for Negative User Reviews

Gets stuck at the testI want to give more stars as the app works as advertised. however it took some googling to make it work. every time i tried to start a transfer it would get stuck at Testing connection step up. at that step the app is completely unresponsive. after some research it turned out i made it work but disconnecting both phones from wifi and then connecting it back in a short while.Version: 3.8.7

Works on some, not mineWorst part is it doesn’t tell you that if you restored your iPhone and Photos in the iCloud that NOT ONLY DO YOU NOT NEED THIS APP IT ACTUALLY DUPLICATES ALL YOUR PHOTOS, THEN ICLOUD LOADS MORE AND NOW THIS APP NOW INCREASES THE PHOTOS IT HAD TO ADD AD INFINITUM ( CHASING IT TAIL CREATING MORE PHOTOS TO BACKUP FOREVER) If you didn’t put your photos into iCloud maybe you’ll get the issues below: Transferring from iPhone 5 to iPhone 8 : Network connection keeps getting lost having to restart app every 5 minutes. I know it’s not my network as my wife’s iPhone 5 to iPhone 7+ transfer went fine. At 1st the App wouldn’t even run on the iPhone 5, but I fiddled around and unrestricted contacts and it didn’t crash (no message why) Power cycled both phones, tried different spots in house, doesn’t matter. Reading the community forums it’s apparent the developer doesn’t read them. *REPLY TO DEVELOPER I’m using iOS10 BTW- AT&T never mentioned in their activation instructions not to use mobile transfer if you are restoring from iCloud. Thanks.Version: 3.6.10

Good app overallEven though everything I thought was going to be transferred wasn’t it did do my pics and I think my contacts .. none of my apps where transfer though or my messages etc.. it took a long time about an hour so I figured with that time it would do everything I needed to transfer that it would have done a true complete transfer but it didn’t.. above all though I guess it was ok nothing seems to be corrupted so that’s a plus on the other end.. but wished it just did it all instead of me having to do so much work after ...Version: 3.10.1

It literally only transfers contacts and photos.I downloaded the transfer app thinking it would at least bring some of my apps and settings from my old phone but it literally only did contacts and photos. If I knew that I never would have bothered with this app. It is going to take me hours to get everything moved over to my new phone. You know, the things I actually use my phone for. I work for a startup that does everything through apps, clocking in and out, hr, benefits, time off requests, not to mention the dozens of apps I use everyday in my personal life. Thanks for literally nothing..Version: 3.15.2

Do not useI tried several times to get all the data to transfer and each time getting several questions to answer before it would lock up. After giving and deleting the app I woke up and found the automatic backup. My contacts had doubled and some lost. Each contact was in my phone twice but only one of them had numbers and emails. It looked like all my photos were back on my phone even photos I deleted over days, months, and years ago were back on the phone. This isn't the first time I have changed phone or upgraded to new phone, so it’s not like I am ignorant to the process. It took me a couple of days to go through the phone and remove or add what this app screwed up. I would have been better off letting a blind monkey activate the phone. God Bless technology!!.Version: 3.15.2

Beware of incorrect dataI transferred over all my info over from my old to new phone. In my contacts I noticed all the birthdays were off by a day. Also some other information was incorrect as far as not having phone numbers and misspelling of addresses and the actual numbers being wrong. Just beware of this and double check your info before you delete from your old phone. I will say it was better than having to enter everything by hand but not much.Version: 3.12.2

STICK TO ICLOUDMy dad switched from a galaxy to an iPhone, so this app worked great for him since he didn’t previously have an iCloud account. However, if you’re switching from an iPhone to a new iPhone, do not waste your time. Stick with the iCloud account. This app duplicated every single photo I had and messed up my iCloud account as well so I have duplicates of every video and photo I have. It also brought back all my deleted photos so instead of 10,000 photos I had on my old phone (after I cleaned up all the pointless screenshots, pictures with ex’s, etc.), it made my new phone have over 36,000 photos. I have no clue how. Best part... it also made my photos completely out of time order. I have pictures from 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 SCATTERED EVERYWHERE. DO NOT USE THIS APP IF YOU’RE TRANSFERRING CONTENT FROM IPHONE TO IPHONE. Apple sadly couldn’t help me with this situation since this is a third party device issue, so I have to waste a whole day deleting all those pictures..Version: 3.10.1

Wow actually the worstNot only did the transfer take a whopping 12 hours? To download? Like what is that? Are you kidding me? Anyhow, after that, it came to my acknowledgment that it only transferred the first half of my photos and videos, but made two copies of the videos on the new phone. Weird, so i looked into it a little more. I then saw that after completion, the photos and videos from the old phone were in fact deleted and unretrievable, and i now have only half of them. Thank you att mobile transfer for carelessly erasing over 4 years of memories. No worries, I’m sure I’ll forget about this much like i will forget about all of them soon enough. Y’all are scumbags.Version: 3.12.0

BEWARE: Mixed everything on all our devices. The first time I used it was great, it transferred all contacts and videos and photos to my new device. But this time not only did it take 5 hours, but it somehow mixed my photos and videos with all the families photos and videos. I transferred over 50GB of data but my new device shows only 12 GB used. It did this on ALL OUR DEVICES. So my iPad now has videos from my phone and my phone has pictures from my iPad. I can’t even delete the ones I don’t want because it says “this will delete from all devices” very annoying as I now have to scroll thru thousands of photos that aren’t even mine. How did my families devices who weren’t even connected to the transfer get involved? Why can’t I get MY photos back on MY phone? Are they all in ICloud? If so how can I get them back?.Version: 3.9.6

Not excellentIt didn’t transfer most of the phone numbers of my contacts. It kept the name of the contacts, but none of the other information. Photos and videos are not in chronological order and not all of them were transferred. But it did transfer most of my photos and videos, and a couple of my contacts with their information..Version: 3.18.2

Doesn’t work...My phone was an iPhone 5S and I’m upgrading to an iPhone 8. For whatever reason when I backed up my old iPhone to update my new iPhone not everything transferred over. I was using iCloud to transfer everything but there were some things that didn’t make it such as my contacts and calendar appointments; ironically all my photos and apps did. So I tried this ATT Mobile Transfer app. Upon setting up it took forever to “get connected” or whatever term it uses. After that it said it was “finding content”. The issue is that it never stopped loading... I kept both of the phones connected for about 45 minutes to an hour and the entire time the app said “finding content”. I decided to close the app down on the phone to see if anything happened and it didn’t. Other people are saying theirs took a few minutes....I was not so lucky. 2nd time around: I went through my old phone and I deleted apps and photos that were transferred with iCloud. I think this made connecting to the ATT Mobile Transfer much easier! However, there still 200 or so contacts that will not transfer over. I go through the prompts and select contacts, it sees 378 of them, but when I hit transfer only 178 actually transfer... I’ve tried it like 4 or 5 times and it still doesn’t work..Version: 3.7.3

Don’t go here!Downloaded this app one month ago in anticipation of receiving my new iPhone X. I was using an iPhone 6s Plus. Suddenly, my iPhone was unable to do a backup anymore because of some files not being available. Spent an hour on the phone with Apple, and they couldn’t figure it out. When my new phone came today, I went ahead and tried to use this app, but it went into some endless loop and never came back out again. I deleted this app, and my iPhone was once again able to do a regular backup. I was able to start my new iPhone X and restore from the cloud. It took minutes and stead of hours this app wasted..Version: 3.6.17

GarbageLeave it to AT&T to make working with icloud seem like the easy alternative. On one phone it worked fine (if missing a few items), on the other phone (after demanding that I click "yes" to allowing this app to make calls from my phone, and repeatedly refusing to work until I clicked "yes" - why in the hell does and app need to make calls from my phone?) it only transferred half of the photos, none of the videos, and NONE of the contacts. Rebooted both devices, tried again, no good. Deleted apps and reinstalled, tried again, no good. This app, like so, so, sooooooo many of AT&T's products and services, is garbage..Version: 3.6.20

Not all contacts transferredWas transferring from iphone 6 to iphone 8 and though it SAYS most of my contacts transferred, some of them the numbers didn’t transfer. Because iCloud is impossible to deal with when you’ve had lots of photos and several phones (somehow even when deleting it’s always full) I’m still left frustrated that many numbers didn’t come over. I don’t know how else to respond to the developer response, so here goes: It does seem like the contacts that weren’t transferred happened after my icloud stopped downloading. With that said, when you go to set up the phone, it already gives you the option of syncing with icloud, and I knew that would be problematic in my case. It’s a free app, so I can’t complain too much, but it would be WONDERFUL if an app could be developed to actually just do it phone to phone somehow. I’ve had issues with itunes too, btw on my laptop - I connect the new phone and it tells me it can’t connect, so I’m kinda screwed :(.Version: 3.6.10

Read the Terms and ConditionsTerms and conditions 5.2- (paraphrased) any content submitted through app, AT&T is able to use, distribute, reproduce and display worldwide and you waive all moral rights. Why does AT&T need this in there terms and conditions?? Why did there employee download this app for me as soon as I got my new phone and wanted to wait till I transferred everything for me to pay, even though it would’ve took an hour. AT&T makes an app that grants them full rights to all your photos and contacts then has there employees push it on there customers, Seems sketchy. Also why is the app approved for 4+ years old when it explicitly says you can’t use the app if you’re under 13?.Version: 3.7.3

Not all contacts transferredI really hope I can find an easy solution before I have to send in my trade-in phone. I upgraded from 7+ to 8+ and I used this app and I recalled from before that it's much faster if you transfer a lot of photos and videos from my phone to my computer so I basically transferred contacts only this time and not even all of them transferred over and I'm trying to figure out why. I believe some of the contacts were either create it in or connected to the exchange that I use for work. I am wondering if the problem iOS 11 had with exchange servers is causing this to happen somehow.Version: 3.6.10

Mobile transfer appI’m pretty sure my contacts and photos were transferred between iPad mini gen2 to Mini gen5. However, I was expecting music to be transferred too, but reading what it is supposed to do, music wasn’t part of it. There were a few issues because older iPad was running iOS 12.4 and some things were not supported it said. Ended up going to iTunes, backing up to my old Mini-2 backup and attempting to transfer to new mini-5. My purchased and Downloaded Music and playlists were supposed to transfer but did not fully do that. Didn’t see any helpful information to accomplish that. Missing 60-/+% of my downloaded music and about 20% of music on playlists. 3rd party or after market app was needed to complete the music transfer. Therefore 3 stars out of 5 = 60% satisfied..Version: 3.15.2
